38F at 39 weeks pregnant. On baby aspirin and Plaquenil, 194lbs, 5’6”. Developed sudden rib pain on my right side (more on my side/back than in the front) about under where my bra strap would fall. Feels like someone punched me in the ribs, it’s quite sore to the touch. BP doesn’t appear to be elevated when I take it at home. It’s painful to bend or pull myself up from lying down to standing. First pregnancy, so not sure if this is something to be concerned about or if it’s just the baby kicking me in the ribs.

I’m 30(F), in a relationship, no vices, no kids, tapos ng pag aaral and I believe, I have proven enough to my family already. I have a stable job earning 80k+ monthly, still not that much but I already bought a house for my family. I’m shouldering all expenses like electricity, net, water, groceries.
I’m doing all of that for them, because I love them. But all I get is stress.
My dad is an on/off user with other woman, not working.
My brother is positive with Marijuan, still no work.
My mom is toxic. When I say toxic she’s does this things:
  1. She wants me to go back with my ex and doesn’t like my current bf so nag gagawa sya ng kwento na bakla daw ung current boyfriend ko, which is hindi totoo, mema lang para may magawang issue kasi wala silang makitang panget na ugali nung tao.
So just a back ground: My ex, Seaman and rich, pero walang respeto sakin, verbally abused me, he twisted our stories so he would become the victim and he had so many kwentos na hindi totoo na sinasabi sa magulang ko.
Why we broke up: I don’t like that he asked me for a nude pictures kapag onboard sya and when I don’t he would manipulate me and tell me things na di ako pang asawa ng seaman, wag ko daw papakielaman ang pamemera nya when I only give him advise na wag palautang, ayaw nya ako payagan sa mga bagay na gusto kong gawin like my travel, he doesn’t supports me to succeed in my career and he will say he will help me but will left me hanging kapag andon na ang problema. We’ve been together twice the first break up is he did cheat on me multiple times. The next is he was very toxic that I ended up loosing myself while keeping the relationship.
  1. She speak harsh words to me and never take my side.
She says, maging masaya daw ako para sa kanila ng ex ko na magkakaibigan sila at wag ko na daw siraan ung ex ko nung sinabi ko ung reasons bakit ayaw ko na sya balikan.
Sinasabihan nya ako sa harap ng mga kamag anak namin na nilaspag na daw ako ng current boyfriend ko, which is hindi naman totoo. i just gained weight because I have endometrial cyst na ginagamot ko that causes hormonal imbalance kaya ako nag gain ng weight.
Lagi nya ko sinisisi na di ko daw sya gusto kaya malayo ang loob ko sa kanya or sinisisi ung tatay ko na sinusulsolan daw ako kaya ako galit sa kanya. Not knowing na sya naman lahat gumagawa bat malayo ako sa kanya.
  1. Growing up as a kid, nararamdaman kong mas mahal ng nanay ko ung pinsan ko at yung bunso nyang kapatid.
Mag uuwi ako ng exam na perfect score or may isa-dalawang mali pero hindi nya naappreciate yon.
Mag mamall kami, may gusto akong shoes, bibilin nya pero para sa kapatid nya.
May instance pa na sinabi nya sakin na mahal daw nya yung pinsan ko dahil kulang daw yon sa pag mamahal.
  1. He always chose her brothers, sisters, mom and dad over us na mga anak at asawa nya, kakainin na lang namin ibibigay nya pa sa pamilya nya. When it comes to arguement kahit nasa point kami ittwist nya ung reasoning para lang kampihan ung nga kamaganak nya.
She’s like that.
I’m so tired of them, and I want to cut them off, I keep on justifying na pamilya ko yan kahit anong mangyari sila ung malalapitan ko but I don’t feel that security with them.
Na I’d rather survive alone than endure this kind of environment.
Please help and advise if tama ba tong gagawin ko.. naging masaya ba kayo nung nicutoff nyo mga toxic families nyo? Nag suceed ba kayo sa buhay kahit wala sila?
I feel like I need to talk to my shrink again, kasi nag kakadark thoughts na naman ako to end things oara wala na ako stress. I know I’ll be needing professional help sooner or later because I’ve been in this situation before.

2024.05.19 17:26 eclipse0990 How should I push for a mid year pay revision?

In January this year, I switched jobs and joined my current company as L4. This company had lower pay bands compared to my previous company. But since they were essentially promoting me, I took the offer with marginal pay increase.
Thing is, the offer they gave me at the time was about 108% of what they have as average of L4 range(compa ratio) and they said they just could not give me any more because that would put me right away on path to next promotion. By March, they changed the range and now I’m at 95% on the compa ratio. And I did the math, given the company’s hike patterns, it would take me atleast 3 years of very high performance of what my salary would have been if I was at 108% now. I want to ask my manager to atleast put me to 100%.
My 6 months probation period ends in July. I’ve been asking for feedbacks every 1:1 with my manager and he is really happy with the way I’m going about the ramp up and my role as the tech lead. I also am in the thick of things in the company and am a known name for most of the teams my team works with. There is a half yearly review which will kick off right before my probation ends. But this is just a review to see if people are on track, not for hikes or promotions.
I am looking for some advice on how to handle this situation and have positive, result yielding conversations without things turning sour between me and the company.
(Sorry for poor writing. It’s pretty hard to write a post back and forth on Reddit).

hi there, male 40 here, i have had a rough years with tooth problem, in last 16 years i had 5 root canals, one implant, and two wisdom tooth extracted and all in the upper jaw, now my lower jaw wisdom tooth on left side turned all of a sudden into a monster size, and was paining like helll, i went to dentist who gave me not one but 3 injections of local anethesia , and the moment he took his instruments into my mouth i felt instant pain i swear it wasnt pressure, it was a real pain, so i kept complaining so he was like lets do pulpotomy and you will surely have a relief, i didnt know what to say but sound better than extraction, but even that was so painful when he cut the tooth and cut the nerve it was the worst pain of my life i kept yelling, but he drifted it all of a sudden with a sharp speed and that was the pain still imprinted on my brain, anyways i got home and now i am in severe depression as why local anethesia didnt work? why i couldnt get it extracted , i am so anxious that i am looking for full general anethesia for extraction now, lately i had severe depression and anxiety issues, but this pain made me so scared that i felt in severe depression, been 4 days but i am still feeling dull ache and painful waves but the pain is down to 80% from before the pulpotomy , though the dentist told me that and shown me a huge bended needle which he inserted in my gum but i didnt feel it yet when he was working i kept getting severe pain, what do i have to do now please help anyone need advice? i am concern about full anethesia process just need some positive vibes and experience of the people around to help me out to go through, shoul di be doing extraction right away or should wait as the dull ache keeps coming back every few hours.
what should i have to do ? should i wait for some time before i go for extraction like a month or so and keep taking pain killer? or should i go for the general anethesia right away and get it pull out? share your experience or working on a patient with full anethesia please, thanks .

I've had problems with my SI joint, hip flexors and glute activation on one side since high school due to a sports injury. I knew that being pregnant would challenge all of this, and it's mostly been okay! I'm 33 weeks now however, and my work tends to get more physical this time of year so I've been quite sore.
I've been going to a physiotherapist for a few years who has helped me a ton with some of my issues. However... now that I'm pregnant he is hesitant and kind of implicitly refusing to do work on my SI joint. He's done stuff a bit around my hip but I reallllyyyy need some help with my SI and pain is now radiating down my leg which never used to happen. He's chalking some things up to pregnancy which I understand, and I know that some of this might be temporary, but I really need relief now!!
He says he doesn't want to do SI stuff for any potential risk to the pregnancy... has anyone come across this? Is this based on anything, or have you been able to get work done on your lower back throughout pregnancy without issue? Is there anything I can tell him to try to get him to help me with this?

2024.05.19 17:21 Le5dmond Day #11 -> 10 days done cold turkey [check in]

10 days sober… the longest period I have abstained from alcohol in a very long time. I hesitate to call it a streak because I aim for this to be my permanent lifestyle going forward.
The Positives:
  1. I am feeling incredibly motivated throughout the day. No longer do I find myself passing out drunk, wasting time, and disrupting my sleep routine.
  2. Surprisingly, I have not lost weight despite consuming minimal junk food and no liquid calories (only water, coffee, and pre-workout supplements for energy). However, I believe I look better in the mirror. It’s possible that I have gained muscle mass and lost some fat, though these changes may not yet be reflected on the scale. I will remain patient, prioritize my sobriety, and continue on this path.
  3. My eyes appear much healthier - wide open and bright instead of bloodshot and tired.
  4. There is a noticeable reduction in puffiness in my face, particularly in the cheeks.
The Bad(temporary):
  1. Sleep was very hard some nights. I would get only 5-6 hours of deep sleep, then I would wake up unable to go back to sleep. However, I do feel better energy throughout the day compared to when I was drinking.
  2. Withdrawals were intense. I quit cold turkey but experienced severe symptoms such as shaky hands, anxiety, dry mouth, strange bloating (especially in the lower stomach area), and an emotional roller coaster.
I am pleased with the results so far, especially mentally. I feel like I am on a completely different level - much more positive, with long-term thinking, and more in touch with the world around me. I just cleaned my apartment, got a nice haircut, and am now enjoying a good cup of coffee before my workout and a 10km walk.
One day at a time, we will get there. This community has been a great help to me, and you all motivate me to keep going.

Lower body lift went well Friday! almost 7 hour surgery, but back home by dinner time. NO nausea or vomiting!!! The meds they gave worked great! "Emend" 3 hours prior, then likely Zofran in IV. Pain isn't bad unless I move lol. I've been hydrating, doing laps with hubby, Miralax and Colace worked this morning! yay~ sleeping well on wedge pillow in bed. I move to recliner for a change of pace. All in all, doing better than I thought! Thanks everyone for helping me prep

Heyo. I think we can all agree the reveals for sisters is a mixed bag. Only 4 detachments, 2 VERY mediocre value boxes and one (in my opinion) VERY cool new cannoness. Lovely weapons, overall a great model. "but I can do better with a kitbash" Congrats you just saved yourself some money and still got a very cool mini. I on the other hand, have zero kitbash skills, and will just buy the kit. Sue me.
Anyway back to the title of the post. The comparison part. Chaos Space Marines just got a similar character to our jump cannoness, being the Chaos Lord with Jump Pack. First place you could get that is the Dread Talons battleforce. A box focussed around that character and jump pack units (sound familiar?). Except that box has FAR MORE value in it. Lets list it out.
Dread Talons: 650-715 points, depens on how it's built
Now lets do the same for the Sisters battleforce.
Army of Faith: 410-440 points, depends how it's built
Quite a bit lower. Look at that. Now the regular space marines got a "lovely" christmas battleforce, also with their jumpy dudes. Let's look at that.
Spearhead Force: 475 points.
– 1x Captain with Jump Pack 85 points – 1x Invader ATV 70 points – 3x Outriders 80 points – 15x Jump Pack Intercessors 80 for 5, total of 240 points
Okay that's quite close to the Sister's point value. That's good right? No. This Spearhead Force was widely regarded as "garbage". It's the only 2023 Christmas box that's still available in many places, the others having sold out almost instantly. The good thing about the Spearhead force, is that ALL units in the box are very fast units. Something the Sisters' box doesn't have (tbf, the CSM one doesn't either, but at least you get a lot of stuff). Don't get me wrong, I love the exorcist, one of my favourite 40k units out there. But it doesn't really fit with the rest of the box, does it?
I am just disappointed with GW. We know they can do better, look at the Dread Talons box. Do I have a solution to make this box better? Well, it won't matter either way but sure, let's give it a go.
Army of Faith (but better?): 570-590 points
Now some justification. Why repentia and mortifiers/penitent engines? Because they are cool and because they fit the theme of the "army of faith" quite well.
Yes this box still has fewer points than the CSM one, not that many though, but we also have to take into account money. The boxes can't be too good value (or so says GW). I feel my version isn't perfect, but it's at least better than the joke we get. Maybe.
Anyway that's enough rambling. I'll shut up about it now as I promised in the title (apart from potential comments).

Hello, my name is Conner, I'm 21, I've been playing TTRPGs (mostly D&D 5e with some shorter-lived campaigns/oneshots from a variety of other systems randomly thrown in) for a bit over 6 years now, and I'm looking for another PF2e group to join. I'm fairly new to the system but I'm currently in two other lower level PF2e games, so I'm somewhat familiar with the basics. As for what class I'm wanting to play, I'm most interested in trying out either a Wizard or a Barbarian.
When it comes to my schedule, I'm usually available pretty much any time in the evening, except on Thursdays and Wednesdays as that's when my other PF2e groups play (starting time would preferably be after 4 or 5pm but my schedule is decently flexible, time zone is PST). 2024.05.19 17:21 SUNTZU_JoJo How would YOU balance AI shooting at you from +200m?

Let's face it, we've all tried to shoot AI from 100s of meters away. It's always been 'cheatcode' as humans Vs AO to shoot them out of aggro range in other games.
But now that the Devs have made it so AI shoot back at us (albeit with iron sights AK spraying us from super far), everyone complains about broken AI and it being unfair or unrealistic.
And rightfully so. It isn't realistic. But we can't just allow the AI to not aggro on us. And just asking them to "be smarter" like "repositon" or "hide/take cover" just kicks the van down the road and doesn't actually solve anything..cuz all we'll do is find a new angle, snipe another..watch them squirm and hide..rinse repeat. All that without ever risking anything, which isn't fun or engaging gameplay.
I'll start. If you miss your shot, target 1 will go find target X who is their resident sniper (every sight, especially military installations, should have multiple of these),who tries to counter snipe you and at the same time rallies 3-4 of his buddies to hunt you down in the location they heard the shot ring out by flanking you and fanning out slowly clearing the wider area. If it's an isolated dude. He runs for cover if not dead on first shot and warns his friends to be on high alert.
After which, crouched and lying down AI are automatically scouting hill ranges and have extended sightlines...if they spot you they fire 1-2 warning shots. If you don't take the hint they start hitting you in your lower body/legs cuz these aren't dedicated snipers like target X, these are iron sight, banana wearing jungle hooligans..so they know nothing about bullet drop and zeroing etc.. Eventually they get more accurate the more shots they hit...but by that time you should have multiple actual snipers trying to snipe you down, a squad closing the distance towards you by flanking and not just b lining it to your LKP. Fan out and clear tactics.
It's actually incredibly hard to program right and make it feel like a real engagement.
Let's hear it. What are your ideas?

2024.05.19 17:20 kingofthedeadites Pathway to Canada (BC) for US Citizen married to Canadian (have a child together)

I have browsed this subreddit and the guide and kind of have an idea of the process. I guess this post is to enquire about other people's experiences in a similar situation to me regarding timelines, inland vs outland applications, etc.
So, I (US Citizen) am married to a Canadian (she's dual, Canadian/US now, after emigrating here a few years ago.) We have a child together (2yo). As a family, we live together in the U.S.
The plan originally had been to start and raise our family here in the U.S. But now that we have our daughter, the call to move to BC where my wife is from is very strong.
The issue we are debating is applying for my PR from within or outside Canada.
Applying from outside: We submit our application and I can continue to work and earn a paycheck while application is being processed (could take 1-2 years?). The issue is, I work in law enforcement- the job is taking a toll on my mental health, where we currently live has my wife pretty unhappy, and the job is not conducive to a family with regards to scheduling. I miss my kid, man. But, the pay is good, and by continuing to work while the application is being processed, we have insurance, health coverage, etc, and we can set ourselves up for success and hit the ground running in Canada (BC ain't cheap!). ...just dunno how I'll do another 12-18 months of this job.
Applying from inside: Again, a long time to process application, but get to live in Canada and spend time with my daughter as a stay-at-home Dad while PR is being processed. But, I wont be making money (Wife will tho), and with regards to Healthcare- I don't think I would be eligible, at least for a few months? I'm healthy, but there is always that 'What if' factor. Also, if we go this route, we have to get to Canada first, which means quitting my job, trying to cross the border with all our stuff, and possibly getting denied entry due to intent to emigrate without PR status? I'd be jobless at that point...
Some other 'background' info: - Wife's job is remote at a US based company, with processes to allow for international work, including in Canada. This includes processes for taxes, benefits, etc.
So, Reddit, if you were in our shoes - what would you do? What route would you take? Are there any other factors/ considerations that I haven't thought of?

So to clarify 1 I am British so my terms my confuse people. 2. This happened in summer 2021 and also a heatwave. 3. names are changed for GDPR purposes.
I use to work in a care home for MJ a beautiful lady in her 30's with physical and learning disability also blind with fragile bones (which is important later). MJ a little petty and finds being naughty or cheeky hilarious.
We were out on a girly shopping trip for new wardrobe as MJ had drastically gained a lot of weight during over 18 months due to physio and hydro being cancelled due to covid and building work. Due to her needs her wheelchair is a little longer and bulkier than the average and her right leg support is straight out as she cant bend it . (also important for later), Also I have to explain what's going on every few minute so MJ knows what's going on and MJ doesn't always know if she's involved in conversations so this is also explained.
After a lovely brunch is a department store we headed down in lift. To resume the shopping. This is when the incident occurred. due to the size of her wheelchair she takes up a good portion of the lift so I have no room to move, can only wheel in and reverse out. As the lift lowered I could hear children approx. 5 -9 in age and guessing 4 in total. The doors took there sweet time to open.
When they did I quietly swore because the store had a massive redesign during the lock down and what was once a nice clear area around the lift was now a narrow area surrounded by a sofa and display stands leaving me a very tight turning space. I then realised the children I heard where using this narrow space to play It/tag and were not 4 was about 6 to 8.
I called out to them to Excuse me let us through please. No answer from children and no parent telling them to move . Children still running. MJ is already in giggles as she has worked out things are not going to the plan.
I am now aware that the lift doors will shut again soon so reverse out a little to make sure the safety sensors keep doors open. Also hoping this means the children's adult might notice me better and control the little chaos.
I hoped to much and they got louder so I got LOUDER. I shouted You need to move now your in my way. MJ is now in tears because she thinks I'm shouting at her and is asking why. So I whisper to her to not worry its just some naughty children blocking our way out and I might need to yell at them again and she calms down.
This is when the boy who I think was the oldest replied "where not taking up that much space just walk around us." So waved him closer and he came over I explained the problem. " You see these handles I'm holding on to" he nodded "this means its not just me I need space to turn MJ around, so please give us that space and sit on sofa". His reply "my mummy got through okay with my sister is our pram so you get your baby through too". MJ has decided to join in by singing, "I'm not a baby, your a baby, move naughty naughty baby" . I then spot the mummy and wave my arms in the biggest motions possible to get her attention. But apparently the lacy bra she has in her hand holds all her brain power.
So I shout again. "I'm going to count to 4 and if you kids are not out of my way that's your problem not mine anymore". 1, still kid chaos, 2 , 3, nothing 3 and a half, FOUR !. So I reverse in one quick motion. I'm amazed that I didn't hit walk in to anyone. I take a moment to asses the best route to go and yes the children are still running around. but I no longer care. So I choose go to the section on the left and to do that I have to turn slightly right step backwards line up the wheelchair then go foreword. And the smallest child chose that very moment to run out right in to MJ's right leg support. MJ starts laughing at me for being a bad driver think I hit a display with her leg. I whisper to her what's happened and she laughs more, shrugs and winks at me "oops you told them". Children run over to see there crying sibling and one runs off to tell mum about the mean lady. I check the little girl over (I'm first aid trained and she risked more harm to MJ then her) and went to shop. That's when mum finally appeared and yelled at me "Watch where your going, you Spazzie Retard you hit my kid."
So In the UK these are about the worst words you can use to describe a disabled person. I took the worlds biggest breath and willed my professional BS filter to sensor my inner rage. But MJ had my back. " I can't watch where I'm going I'm blind and she had to parent your kids because you were too busy, she meant to help me shop not babysit kids , good bye B\*ch". I smiled sweetly trying not to laugh and we left her shouting about court . A staff member came over to see if we okay and I explained the situation and they go kicked out of the store of endangering customers.*
After reporting this story to the manager she laughed (unofficially told me served the woman right) and told me to record it for policy just in case she memorised the logo on my badge .But I did not get into trouble. No one was harmed apart from a possible bruise on the child's leg.

2024.05.19 17:19 Electronic-Film-824 Shifter became randomly notchy/crunchy after gearbox replacement

I picked up my new MT Mazda 3 2024 a few months ago, and due to strong vibrations in the gear lever the transmission was replaced after only a few hundred miles. There was a specific TSB that covered my issue, so Mazda promptly authorized said transmission replacement. In addition to the transmission the shifter cables were replaced and adjusted, but the flywheel and clutch were not replaced.
Since then, I'm randomly experiencing a feeling of resistance/notchiness when shifting, notchiness that wasn't there before and in specific gears it's similar to a multi-tooth grinding sensation. Specifically:
1st gear: slight notch (1 shift out of 3-4)  
2nd gear: multi-teeth grinding sensation (1 shift out of 2-3)  
3rd gear: strong notch (1 shift out of 6-7)  
4th gear: slight grinding sensation (1 shift out of 2-3)  
5th gear: slight notch (1 shift out of 3-4, like 1st gear)
I've prepared a diagram that summarizes the different 'crunches', available at https://ibb.co/3YGWJX8 .
These grinding sensations appear randomly, both when the engine is hot and cold, with no apparent factors that consistently allows to reproduce them. Shifting to a lower or upper gear doesn't make any difference. I cannot hear any noise, vibration or any kind of abnormal feedback when shifting. When there isn't any notchiness, the 'normal' shifts are extremely fluid and pleasant. Again, it's totally random.
The mechanic has tried replacing and readjusting the shifter cables according to a procedure described in a specific TSB, as well as replacing the gearbox oil, but it didn't help at all - it subjectively worsened the 1st gear notchiness and the sawtooth feeling when shifting to 2nd.
My mechanic is at my wits end, Mazda doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing the case further, and at this point the dealer is willing to buy back the car. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem, even with other cars, and managed to solve it or at least pin-point its root cause?

Idk if this was fixed with the patch, but I find it funny. There's a card that slows time while charging omega attacks There's also 1 audio cue for the sirens song
So if at the very beginning you slow time at the same time the audio cue begins, the entire sirens song is in slow mo. And it doesn't go back to normal after you drop your omega attack. So the whole boss' theme song sounds like it's two octaves lower and half the tempo.
Not game breaking or anything but it does make me chuckle. I've done it 3 or 4 times.

Hello people,
My parents had bought 2 flats in India in 2014 (Not RERA registered, since RERA act was passed in 2016). The registration agreement promised us possession by 2016. The builder had 3 buildings (A, B and C wings of the same building in the same place) under construction at that time and had completed the construction of A and B wings of the flat and had given the possession to the buyers. We had bought 2 flats in the C wing of the apartment. The builder has not yet completed the construction of the flat. When tried to contact the builder, he initially started providing excuses that he had some delay in getting the raw materials and then COVID and then he just kept declining our calls. Later one day, when we got hold of him from someone else's phone, he asked us to complete the remaining construction work of our flat and get the possession ourselves. Now, I guess he has gone absconding as well.
It has been 10 years since we have been trying to get the possession of our flat or our money back. The rental agreement says if the builder delays the possession we are liable to receive some penalty amount. We don't even need any penalty amount, we are from a lower middle class family and would just like to get our hard earned money back. It is literally my dad's entire life savings that we have paid for this flat. He is over 60 now and he can't even afford to retire because he has lost his entire life savings.
Since this not RERA registered, I don't think we can register a complaint in RERA against him. Please give some suggestions as to what we can do to get our money back. Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to buy some Sentai zords from the early 2000s lines like Dekaranger, Gaoranger, and Boukenger from reputable Japanese ebay sellers. The large majority of these toys say made in Thailand but some say made in china.
Ignoring the obvious fakes from Hong Kong, which is easy because the price is usually astronomically lower than the other listings, is there any legitimacy/difference from the made in China toys vs the made in Thailand toys?
I can't find any information about it in via the toy line wikis or any old posts or articles. I even tried to contact Bandai but since I can't speak or type Japanese I had no way of getting my questions through.
There were some old forbes articles that talked about Bandai having factories in China, Thailand, and I believe Japan to try and meet demand for the toys back in the mid 90s but nothing about nowadays.
Any help or information would be massively helpful.

I have college friends whom I love and admired but it's not always easy since we also have our bad days, may tampuhan, bangayan and problems but at the end of the day we still manage to laugh and be strong. So here's the problem Myfriendk let's call her Susan is in a relationship with her boyfriend for 2 years. The problem is her boyfriend is very toxic. May time of the week na half day lang ang class namin ni Susan while the others still have one class in theafternoon pero gusto pa namin makasama ang isa't isa kaya we stay in the school and wait na matapos ang klase nila. Pero her boyfriend got too possessive. She would label my friend a cheater just because Susan stayed with us kasi nong time din na yun ay pasahan na ng RRL Kaya nag mamadali kami. Maraming beses silang nag aaway at palagi akong nadadamay kasi gusto ni Susan I prove sa boyfriend nya na nasa school lang kami. I tried explaining din sa guy na nasa school lang naman kami whole day naka tambay sa library talking and sleeping (wag tularan) at wag na kamo syang mag overthink kasi ako lang naman kasama the whole entire day maski sa pag punta sa canteen at CR. But her boyfriend got worsts and hindi namin matiis na saamin sya nagagalit ug pinagbubuntunan kami ng galit pag nag aaway sila. We tried talking to her too but she just wouldn't listen since she loved the guy so much.Then one day we went out to eat we invited her and her boyfriend since dala din naman nong iba kung friends and boyfriends nila. They both gave excuses na di nga makakapunta pero walang nagawa si Susan nong pinuntahan namin sya sa bahay nila para makapag picture kami pero di din naman nag tagal. But when we got home Susan told us na nag hiwalay na sila. Inaway pala sya ng boyfriend nya kasi nakipag kita sya samin. She got too tired and decided to let go. syempre ang saya namin sobra. kumain kami sa labas na hindi nya nagagawa kasi maskin pagkain lang sa Jollibee eh pinagbabawalan sya eh gusto uwi agad. For the first time I saw her genuinely happy. Pero nag uusap sila now nong ex nya at naghihingi ng second chance. Mag babago daw yadayada. I told her na Wag mag tiwala agad. My other friend let's call her Carol is very vocal na ayaw nya na mag balikan sila nong guy ganon². Recently nag chat si girl na gusto nya ma meet namin si guy at makausap. I told her supposed to be labas na kami sa isyu nila since relationship nila yun atlsila na mag dedecidekungj ipagpapatuloy or hindi. But she wanted us to be involved. She wanted to hear "our opinion" I told her na kung yan man sana ready si guy samga sasabihin ni Carol since she won't hold back. Nag set na din ng time next week para kausapin nga daw namin yung guy kung magbabago ba talaga ganon ganon.eh nag post si Susan na bibigyan nya si guy ng chance. Nagkasagutan sila ni Carol. Carol doesn't want her to give him another chance kasi ayaw nya masaktan si Susan. As much as possible if she can she will do anythingtpara di lang maka make ng huge mistake and friend nya. I understand Carol and her intentions pero I also explained to Carol how we could never control someone's decision. I told her it's her life it's her relationship. Let her be kung masaktan man sya she brought it upon herself. We did everything pero gusto nya bigyan ng chance. I even consulted my mother about the matter sabi ny mama ko na "A mother can't even force her child whom she would pick to arry kayo pa kaya na friends lang?" I admit Carol has a point and I can feel her sincerity but diba labas naman na kami dapat sa problema ni Susan? Since we advised her already. Carol told me na hindi daw nag mamake sense yung pinagsasabi ko na hayaan si Susansna mag desisyon. also nag chat si Susan sakin at pinapapilidawd sya ni Carol kung kami or yung ex nya na sinabi ko naman kay Carol na hindi naman yun taman kasi friends are supposed to be together through ups and downs. She's willing to throw away everything if hindi sumunod sakanya si Susan kasi wala daw syang friend na hindi nagpapaturo. I can't take it anymore that'swhy I'm writinghhere. Can you guys give me some advice on what to do? I tried putting myself in their shoes na it's draining me in the process. What's the best possible way to end this? Is Adulting supposed to be this hard? Anyways to Susan and Carol if ever you read this. I hope you guys can calm down a bit and maybe we can all talk this out tomorrow. TLDR: there are tons of 'academic' papers about grade policies, almost none of them use empirical data. I spent an afternoon finding and reading as many of these papers/articles as I could and am posting the links.
Like many of you I am now faced with the possibility of a 'minimum grade' policy (no grades below 50% allowed) and I have concerns about keeping students motivated and possible exploits. I was curious about any research that had been done into what the effect of these grading policies are.
I tracked down many many articles and 'academic' papers that cited no data and were just theory pieces based on behavioral and cognitive science with out data that actually compares outcomes under the different systems. I only found two papers that referenced data about student outcomes, one paper shows that minimum grading lowered student performance ( https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=6973&context=dissertations ) and one stating that minimum grading has positive outcomes (https://eric.ed.gov/?id=EJ1022559 and https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.3102/0013189X12453309?journalCode=edra ). The paper stating that minimum grade policies had positive outcomes is problematic because it is an analysis of the data gained from other another study (the second link, a paper I do not have access to) and their analytical methods seem questionable. Possibly the problems with the analysis are covered in the original paper but it is hard to say, the whole thing reads like an opinion piece where some in is trying to find support for something they like, instead of actually doing data analysis.

If I was an administrator I might be in favor of a minimum grade policy, as there does seem to be evidence that it can reduce harm done by poor grading policies. As a teacher I find it immensely frustrating as it removes a lot of the gradebook balance I use to fairly assess and motivate students. Proper training and policies that support teachers in gradebooks that include process and product, and proper outside (not just the classroom teacher) support for students that are failing, can not be replaced by a minimum grade policy.
