2024.05.19 09:59 sendmesnailpics Post op(July2021) Hair loss and nutrient absorption help

Hey people, 28F. I had my Roux and Y bypass surgery in July 2021, I had decent success but I'm here because pre op I had thick hair, very fine texture but a lot of it.
Post op started loosing weight and lost somewhere in the region to 1/3-1/2 my hair volume but evenly so not patchy luckily.
I was diagnosed with ADHD since and I'm getting better with my dailys but I know I need to be better but cost of living and things pinching and I was unemployed for a period.
Basically I know the basics of good diet, take your multivitamin, I'm really pushing to, before I hit 30, get back on board with all the better habits the surgery helped me kick off.
My hairs still not recovering though. It's really killing my self esteem it's a lot more limp and lifeless then it used to be as well and I hoped someone might have had success with figuring out what it wants and needs to try and give it a boost.
Secondarily, I was also wondering if anyone had a better absorption trick for multivitamins, I'm on a iron and B12 boosted one but I've had to get infusions and shots for both so I'm wondering if making them into a liquid or blitzing them in other food might help them be absorbed a bit better.

2024.05.19 09:15 ninapendawewe What are your symptoms that were cured that you didn't even know were B12 related?

I am still early days, one month in, but I have a couple that I think are notable.
Weird dry patches at the sides of the tips of my fingers. Just a couple of them on each hand. Like dried superglue. They are now super smooth!
Blood pooling to my feet, I looked so hard on reddit for all the reasons for this and never saw that it could be b12 related. This one was instantly cured after my first shot.

2024.05.19 01:30 Megatronus0218 25 [M4F] Maryland/USA- Looking for my soulmate

Hey, hopefully everyone is having a nice weekend so far :)! I’ve had success on here in the past and would love to give it another shot again, but hopefully I’ll find my special partner in crime on here🥰I’m looking for a serious, long term/life long relationship, which means eventually moving in together, forming a lifelong bond, and having a family. If u are also looking for this as well please keep reading :)!
I’m Andrew, 25, from Maryland, I graduated this past December, majored in Game Design, and going to start working on a certification soon, currently working retail but hoping to change that soon! I’m about 5’9”, average weight, mixed race, has glasses curly hair, and facial hair. If we bond well I’ll send a pic through DM’s :). I’m a nerdy guy who enjoys playing D&D, LoTR, Transformers, Invincible, Halo, etc., I play video games as well as board games, enjoy spending time with friends and family, work on digital art, as well as game design, and I can cook/bake😋I also have a void loaf🐈‍⬛ :). I’m an introvert extrovert, who can be shy at first, though am improving on that, but will open up and be more talkative the longer we’re talking. I’ve been described by others as funny, but I’ll let u be the judge of that lol. Oh and my love languages are Physical Touch and Positive Affirmations.
Im looking for someone around the age of 21-35, I can do online dating (within the US), but if u are from Maryland that’s a plus! When it comes to physical looks I’m more attracted to plus size women, and any race. For the emotional side, above all else I want someone who’s honest and communicates well!! I also want the obvious when it comes to dating lol, someone who’s loving, caring supportive, sweet/kind, someone I can also see as my friend, wants to do shared activities together, someone who loves giving physical and emotional attention, wants a strong love life, and a bonus is clingy when it comes to affection, love, and communication.
If I seem interesting enough for u and if u seem like a good match for me, please send me a message, and I’ll respond asap! I respond quicker on Discord, which we can exchange either sooner or later, up to u :)! If u read my message, tell me a fun fact about yourself, or tell me your favorite food😋! Looking forward to meeting my soulmate🥰!

2024.05.18 20:55 Such-Tea942 Dang it! Was finally getting energy back and then broke my ankle/fibula which caused PEM crash

I was finally getting energy back. Still couldn't handle super stressful stuff, but I could go for hikes and only crash for like 1 day versus the 2 weeks it used to be. I could do paperwork and email people and drive and it only wore me out a little bit. Didn't do anything special, just rested a lot, keep taking my antidepressants and supplements (vitamin D and B12), and gradually added in more tasks during the day. Took almost 9 months, but I almost got to the point where I could function a whole day without napping.
And then I broke my ankle and fractured my fibula. While mountain hiking. On Mother's Day. Had to be wheelbarrowed off the mountain and went to ER. Surgery consultation isn't for another week.
Just been absolutely wiped out by PEM since then. Back to body aches, sleeping 14+ hours a day, skin problems, poor body temperature regulation, brain fog, no hand/eye coordination (been bedridden for a week because I keep toppling over with crutches), memory is nonexistent, no appetite, can't focus on anything, etc.
It's just so disheartening because it feels like I'm back to square 1 again, except now with a bum leg and my family constantly hovering over me because of the lack of balance. I couldn't work before and definitely can't work now because my energy is shot, and it's just so frustrating that all my growth has been wiped out by a stupid rock on a stupid mountain.

2024.05.18 14:47 RowSubstantial7143 Tipping for Services

This kind of thing makes me so anxious and I always tend to overtip. I am going to a Nurse Injector today for a B-12 shot(I am getting over shingles and just looking for a little boost.). I imagine it will cost 35-$50. How do I tip for this service? 15-20%? She offers Botox, lip filler, etc but I am only getting a b12 shot. I saw her once at a Botox party and had a lip flip and tipped on that. I am going to her business she has in a rented space at a Beauty Bar. I am located in the northeast region of the US.

2024.05.18 03:34 dhshdjdjdjdkworjrn Is this allowed?

This might be a silly question but I truly have no idea and can not find any resources regarding it online.
I don’t have a family practitioner & do have a few things I have not gotten checked out for a while due to personal reasons. I also as you’ll see, have a plethora of medical issues due to personal reasons which are also private. My question is:
The walk in clinics that I have called in Brampton I have heard only take one issue per appointment. Since OHIP is billed only once for the day can I go to a different walk in clinic for my issues.
For example: one day I go to one walk in for an infection in one part of my body that doesn’t go away for months and I get medicine.
Next issue I go the next day for a blood test for my levels like B12 because I was on the shot due to it being extremely low at my last blood test and I had abnormal levels for few other factors too so I guess get those retested.
Third day, I go for the dermatology issue Fourth for the gynaecolog/female issue?
I know it would be best just to do it once but the clinics I’ve researched won’t take more than one problem per visit.

2024.05.18 01:09 Ok_Butterscotch_3761 Chronic paresthesia on entire right side of my body now my whole body

EDIT- cleaned up post by separating paragraphs.
About 15 years ago I got a constant mild headache that nothing helped as well as numbness and tingling over my entire right side of my body. At the same time I noticed a lump (later diagnosed as a fatty tumor) at the base of my skull (at the back of the neck where it usually dips in). I was told it is not related to my other symptoms, however when the doctor would push or manipulate it my aforementioned symptoms got very uncomfortable and remained that way for hours to days. The headache was diagnosed as occipital neuralgia. Treated with Botox shots and fairly ignorable over the years.
Over the last year or two my diabetes (type 2) has been doing great. My last A1C was 5.8. However, two months ago the numbness and tingling has progressed to pins and needles and now is all over my entire body. Uncomfortable not painful. Horribly itchy though. About the same time my left foot started to feel like electric shocks on the ball of my foot. Feels better barefoot or after resting it.
Finally 3 times this year when I woke up to pee in the night my gait kept veering left like I was on a tilted boat. Each time it wore off quickly.
We tested my folate, free t4, iron deficiency panel, tsh, b12, and d 25-hydroxy. All came back in the normal range. X-ray of foot came back normal.
I’m scared of diabetic neuropathy, but everything I read shows tingling in extremities, not head to toe. Nurse practitioner is going to send me to a neurologist for neuropathy and test for MS. Also to podiatrist for Morton’s neuroma.
My neurologist 15 years ago fired me when I insisted that something is wrong and I haven’t gone to another since. I don’t want to come off like a hypochondriac. The numbs and tingling were easy to ignore, but the pins and needles are very uncomfortable.
Could it be something less terrifying as diabetic neuropathy or MS?
No idea what to tell them and what is unnecessary. Sorry I am just so anxious. Any ideas or suggestions. Thank you.

2024.05.17 21:28 biketybikebike MGH (or BWH) GI doctors who treat SIBO?

Posted in SIBO and no recommendations there yet, but maybe someone here has a doctor to recommend?
I saw a GI doctor a few years ago, but it wasn’t a great fit and the experience was frustrating enough that I gave up. But after my symptoms mysteriously cleared up and B12 levels suddenly improved on/after long-term antibiotics, I’m now really wondering if this was/is SIBO. I actually had a recurrence which lasted a few months… until I ended up on antibiotics again a few weeks ago, and now I feel much better again.
Planning on giving GI another shot, but I’m frankly worried about getting someone who just recommends low-FODMAP and mindfulness and sends me on my way.
Hoping to find someone who is willing to use antibiotics for flares and also try to find the root cause (in case it’s treatable). I have other medical issues that might be relevant to the root cause, so someone who is able to zoom out a bit might be better equipped to help here.
What I’m looking for:
Does anyone have a doctor they’d recommend?

2024.05.17 20:21 pinkitypinkpink Oliver, 14 years old. We may not have much longer. 💔

Oliver, 14 years old. We may not have much longer. 💔
This is my boy Oliver. He's my very favorite animal of all my pets. He's never really been fully healthy-he was a hoarding rescue and dealt with pretty severe asthma for the first part of his life. We were able to get it to go into remission. He had some great years in between, but, about six months ago started to lose weight rapidly. We took him to the vet, and they did an ultrasound. They diagnosed him with GI disease. He's been getting b12 shots every other week since. A few days ago, he had a follow up. He's not gained any weight, and has lost further, so he's been given a specialized diet- with the hope he can gain a little, and anti inflammatories. We've moved into comfort care for him, and I'm anticipating he'll need to go to sleep sooner than later, as I love him too much to watch him suffer. I'm very heartbroken about this, and I'm struggling with it. He's my favorite cat of all my pets and has been my very best friend. This guy always comes when I call his name, gives me kisses, and lays in my arms and lets me cradle him like a baby. I can't imagine my life without his love, and thinking about that crushes my heart. But as I said, I love him too much to let him suffer, so when it's time, it will be time, and I will say my goodbyes. Until then, I'm grateful for every extra day that I get with him. He's truly the goodest boy. 💔😭

2024.05.17 16:32 suicide-squeeze The current Big Ten tourney picture

With the final regular season series all starting a day early, we're a little further along, for a Friday morning, then we otherwise would be. Here's how the situation currently stands, with two conference games remaining for everyone.
It's fair to say that only three Big Ten teams currently have a realistic chance at an at-large NCAA tourney bid, based on current RPI values: Nebraska (28), Maryland (39) and Illinois (51). Indiana and Ohio State are unlikely long shots, currently sitting at 61 and 62 respectively.
Therefore the other 10 teams have to win the Big Ten tourney to get in, but only eight teams make that and three are already eliminated (Northwestern, Rutgers, Minnesota). Already qualified are six teams: Illinois, Nebraska, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan and Iowa, Thus two BT tourney spots remain, to be earned from four teams: Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan State, and Penn State. Currently, Ohio State is in the driver's seat among those four, one full game ahead of the others. Complex tie-breakers could well come into play after tomorrow's games.
Even if we allow that the three high-RPI teams get at-large bids, which seems unlikely, six** teams remain that can make the BT tourney and probably must win it, to get into the NCAA tourney: Indiana, Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, and Penn State. There is also the chance to get an NCAA at-large via a strong run from here out, but ending with a loss in the BT tourney title game, but this scenario probably only applies to Illinois, Indiana and Ohio State.
For the relevant teams discussed, the final weekend has Ohio State at Rutgers, Nebraska at Michigan State, and Penn State at Maryland. The biggest win last night was Penn State keeping their hopes alive by surprising Maryland in College Park, 8-4. Ohio State also went in the right direction by winning a close game at Rutgers. On the other end, Michigan State went backwards, losing a tight pitchers duel to Nebraska at home.
** edit: make that seven, Purdue is on that list too

2024.05.17 15:02 FelicitySmoak_ Friday, May 17, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 13

Friday, May 17, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 13
Trial Day 13
Katherine, Rebbie and Trent Jackson are in court.
Jackson attorney Brian Panish has decided not to call Dr. Emery Brown, a propofol expert. Panish told ABC7 he thought Dr. Brown's testimony wasn't going to add anything new to the jury.
There's no witness available now to testify in the morning session, so Panish plays video deposition of Marty Hom, defense expert witness
Marty Hom Video Depostion
Marty Hom has been in the music industry 25-30 years. Hom is a tour manager who's worked with the Eagles, Bette Midler, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson & other big-name acts.
The artist is usually who hires and pays him, Hom said. He gets a check from the artist. Hom doesn't know if MJ was paying Gongaware. Hom said his role changes from one tour to the next. He has to adapt quickly to the artist's needs, since they are just very different.
Live Nation and AEG Live are the biggest companies in the business, Hom said. He's been friends with Randy Phillips for probably 10 years. Hom said he worked with Phillips and AEG Live once on the Bette Midler Tour in Las Vegas. Hom has no social relationship with Phillips. Hom said he knows AEG executives Paul Gongaware and Randy Phillips, who he called a friend. Hom said he and Phillips weren't close -- they didn't visit each others homes or otherwise socialize.
The music business in general is very small, Hom said, and Randy Philips used to manage a former client of his, Lionel Richie. Hom said he's never worked with Paul Gongaware. He's known him for many years, ran into each other all the time. He considers Gongaware a friend
Jackson's attorney Kevin Boyle asked if Hom's friendship with Phillips and Gongaware, defendants in the case, would sway his testimony. Hom said he worked with Janet Jackson and met Mrs. Jackson as well.
"I probably know everyone in the business, this is a very small business"
This is Hom's first case serving as an expert witness. Hom said defendant's attorney called him asking if he'd be interested in being an expert witness in this case. Hom thought about it, agreed. Hom told the atty he didn't know what an expert witness makes. He was told they make between $400 - $500 an hour. They settled on $500/hour.
Hom: "They just wanted me to testify in general scope on what I do for a living. I think they were looking for someone who knew the tour biz"
Hom said he's seen artists travel with physical therapists, masseuses, cooks, but he's not been on tour where artist takes doctor on the road. Hom said he hired doctors in individual cities when artist was ill, wanted B12 shots, crew was sick. Hom said the tour paid the doctor. Boyle asked Hom whether he'd ever hired a doctor to go on tour. Hom said "No". Hom said he knew the Rolling Stones had a physician on tour, Blink-182 also had doctors on tour, but he didn't know what their agreements are
"The doctor should look for the best interest of the artist," Hom opined, "I'd never put artist on stage if it wasn't for his best interest"
Boyle asked if Hom knew Kenny Ortega. Hom said yes. Boyle asked if Ortega would ever falsely sound alarm about artist health. Hom said "no"
Hom said it was not appropriate for the tour manager or promoter to inject themselves into the doctor-patient relationship. He said he never injected himself in doctor-patient relationship. He said he didn't believe it was appropriate for concert promoters to do it.
Hom: "Is it appropriate? I don't know, but it's a question I have to ask for best interest of the show. I think it's a legitimate question"
Hom said he didn't see a problem asking the doctor questions. It's up to the physician to set the limits, he opined. Asked if it would be OK for someone to speak to the performer's doctor without the artist present, he answered:
"I thought it was the doctor's responsibility to say no."
He said he knew of no instance where a promoter or producer had a private conversation with the artist's doctor. Hom said he needs to know if the artist can perform and/or for how long he needs to be on leave. That's why he'd ask doctor status of the artist. Hom said he would ask the doctor questions to determine what kind of condition the artist/dancer would be and his capability to do the tour
He testified that when performers were ill
"my natural instinct is to go to that doctor and ask him, 'Is that dancer going or musician going to be able to make that show in a week?'"
Hom said it was proper for AEG lawyers to inquire of Murray whether Jackson would be able to perform all of the scheduled shows in London.
He's also worked with AEG on a couple occasions, including the Alicia Keys tour. He was approached about working on the Rolling Stones tour. Timm Wooley contacted Hom earlier this year to ask if he would be willing to be the tour manager for the Rolling Stones show. Hom said he was pretty busy this year, but since it's the Rolling Stones, he would like to throw his resume in the pot. Hom said AEG ended up hiring someone else to be Rolling Stones' tour manager.
Hom said that Dr. Murray asking for $5 million raised a red flag.
"It's outrageous."
Hom said he's never seen a draft agreement between promoteproducer and a doctor. He's been in the business for 30 years. Hom said he wasn't aware of the promoteproducer ever paying artist personal manager. Plaintiff says they have evidence AEG paid Michael's manager (Panish said outside court that he will later introduce evidence that AEG was paying Jackson's managers, which could be a conflict of interest)

Boyle: "Would you ever hire a doctor to give an opiate-dependent artist Demerol?"
Hom: "No"
Boyle: "Would you hire a doctor to be feeding the chemical dependency of the artist?"
Hom: "I would not"
Hom also said he would never tell a director he had checked out a doctor if he hadn't, a reference to claims by the Jackson family about an AEG executive
Hom said he had no opinion whether the defendants hired Dr. Murray. Hom never talked with Phillips, Gongaware or Wooley about MJ.
Boyle asked Hom several questions about whether he wanted to work with AEG Live in the future. Hom said "Yes". Hom said he'd like to work
"with AEG Live in the future, not for them".
He said the promoters don't have any saying on who hires him. Hom said he works for an artist, he's hired and paid by the artist, promoters have no say on his contract. Hom noted that AEG and Live Nation are the two biggest concert promoters. He wants to keep working with both of them, he said.
Julie Hollander Testimony
Katherine and Rebbie Jackson were not present for the afternoon session.
Jackson Direct
Brian Panish walked her through This Is It concert budgets, both those generated before and after Michael's death. The documents show that AEG budgeted to pay Murray for his work with Jackson as 'pre-production cost'; Murray was never paid
Panish showed Hollander a document from April 30, 2009 - it shows management medical for $300,000. Hollander said her job was to facilitate payments and sometimes she approved payment as well.
Panish asked Hollander if people worked for AEG without fully executed contracts. She said:
"Yes, they may start work in general terms. Standard company policy is that no payments are made without a fully executed contract. The contract could get executed later"
"People commence work before their contract is executed, yes" Hollander said.
Panish said people did the work before Michael died, but got paid after he died. Hollander said she didn't recall specifics. Hollander said there were people who had contracts renegotiated after MJ's death. Hollander said AEG renegotiated contracts after Michael died to mitigate the burden on MJ's Estate
Panish shows email from 7/10/09 asking Hollander to sign a tour contract so vendor could get paid. Hollander signed it after MJ had died. Panish shows email from 8/4/09 showing another vendor who negotiated contract after MJ died and got paid for prior services.
Panish also displayed several emails about how other vendors were paid, including makeup/hairstylist Karen Faye. The emails show some vendors were complaining about that they weren't being paid after Jackson's death. Hollander said many were paid.
One of the emails was regarding $11,500 that Karen Faye charged AEG for wigs she purchased for Jackson. After he died, AEG stopped a payment. Faye was upset that they rescinded the payment and was threatening to go to AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips.
Email from 6/30/09 from Randy Phillips to Holland:
"This is from Karen Faye who did Michael's hair and makeup. She bought three wigs for use in the tour and one of them is going to be used for his final rest. He was copied in on a message.Pay it immediately. Do not stiff any vendors"
The amount for the wigs was $11,500, which Hollander said it's a nominal amount, thus there's no need for contract.
From time to time, Mr. Gongaware asked Hollander to expedite payment, she testified. He's an impatient person, vendors are important to him
As to Tohme Tohme, Hollander knows who he is, but is aware that at some point he was released from duties as Michael's manager. Hollander says she knew Tohme was terminated before MJ died, therefore had no legal power to sign on his behalf
Panish said $36 million was spent in MJ's project. He asked if Hollander knew AEG filed claim against Lloyds of London to collect insurance. Hollander said she knew it through the press. She doesn't have recollection of specifically providing information for an insurance claim
Panish shows Pre-Tour Cost Projection from 5/20/09 where AEG was to pay Dr. Murray $300,000.
"It was pursuant to the contract", Panish said.
Budget prepared by Wooley, approved by Gongaware showed "Management Medical" and amounts to be paid to Dr. Murray are listed "Per Contract"
On 6/18/09, Hollander received email from Brigitte Segal, who worked on the tour for the estimated cost for some living arrangements in London. AEG pays for entertainment arcade & bowling alley because of precondition in terms of what Michael needed at the house and as part of the bargain. AEG pays for 3 of the local houses: Bush, Faye and Murray (wardrobe dresser, make-up/hair & personal physician). Pays for additional furniture, staffing, security, nanny, food.
Gongaware response on June 19, 2009:
"I agree with Timm's allocation and the charges. Approved"
Hollander said AEG had to pay those costs pursuant to the terms of the contract for the tour, as advance payment.
Panish shows a pre-production budget vs what was paid. Dr. Murray still appears budgeted on 7/1/09 for $300,000. Hollander said she did not see a contract with Dr. Murray signed by AEG.
Panish: "If the $300,000 was supposed to be advanced for Michael to be repaid, it would be under the category 'Artist's Advances'?'
Hollander agreed. There was $300k listed for Murray under 'pre-production costs' in This Is It's budgets. It wasn't listed under terms Michael was supposed to pay
Panish: "Dr. Murray was supposed to be paid $150,000 per month, correct?"
Hollander: "Yes, according to the un-executed contract"
Panish ended his direct examination of Hollander by playing testimony from her deposition about 20 tours she'd handled finances for. Hollander said that the This Is It tour was the first time she saw the situation where AEG Live hired a physician for the tour. It was also the first time she saw AEG Live pay for an artist's personal physician.
AEG Cross
AEG attorney Jessica Stebbins-Bina started her questioning of Julie Hollander. Her early questions focused on money advanced to Jackson. Hollander told Stebbins Bina that it was her first time testifying and that's why she was so nervous answering questions
Hollander explained what advance meant, it was like cash advance and, depending on the contract, it would be paid back by the artist. Hollander testified that Michael was responsible for 100% of the production costs should the concert not go forward. But if the tour went forward, MJ was responsible for repayment of 95% of the costs and AEG would pay 5%.
Hollander said that if something is on the budget, it means it was planned to be paid. But things changed very often.
In the This Is It tour, Hollander said she had contracts with staging, lighting, choreographers, sound equipment, etc. She testified that only the contract that had been drafted for Dr. Murray required Michael Jackson's signature.
"My understanding was that Mr. Jackson had asked to include Dr. Murray in the tour personnel. Mr. Murray was requested by the artist, and that was my understanding," explained Hollander.
"I was instructed that no payments were to be made until Michael signed the contract," Hollander said, due to the personal nature of the services.
"Tour manager maintains the budget, negotiates some of the vendor's contract, may be involved in mitigating tax exposure. My role (in TII tour) was to make sure the items created were in line with the budget made," Hollander described.
Hollander said she never saw a version of Dr. Murray's contract signed by AEG or MJ.
"AEG never paid Dr. Murray", Hollander said.
Before court adjourned, Hollander made the point that a budget is a guide for a concert tour.
"A budget is just a tool. Sometimes an executed contract differs from the budget. In that case, the contracts terms dictate the payments", Hollander said.

2024.05.17 08:22 Unusual_Project_9006 Getting Tested Again But Been On Supplements - Not Very Hopeful of Answers

Vegetarian since my teens and didn't know a thing about B12 until a doctor in my twenties said I was b12 deficient. She administered some B12 shots. I honestly can't remember if it was even more than two or what happened afterwards but I remember they helped me. I think she probably retested my levels and saw they were good and told me to supplement from them on (she was the most helpful doctor I've ever had and lovely and she was going on what they thought at the time about test levels being able to show accurate b12).
I've been on b supplements most of the time since, although again not really being mindful of how important they were until my late twenties. I suspect I did suffer nerve damage in the time before I realised about b vitamins. I started just taking B12 supplements cause I think that's what the doctor recommended or what I figured I needed. My memory is terrible so there's a lot of gaps and blanks in my years. I stayed on B12 1000mcg a day for quite a while.
Then I came off vitamins when I was going through a rough anxiety time after srri withdrawal. I was wary of anything making my anxiety worse (lots of chest pain from anxiety and very restless, plus chronic insomnia leading to sleep deprivation). I can't remember how long I was off them for.
I went back on them at some point, a b complex rather than just B12 and when I read about how oral supplementation may not actually be enough to help B12 deficiency and also how the tests weren't accurate if supplementing I talked to two different doctors about that when asking to get things checked (still trying to fix anxiety) and both just ignored that completely and said yep normal when my tests came back.
I hopped off vitamins again because my depression got very bad and I gave up on a lot. I finally went back on them properly about 8 months ago, and I noticed my go to vitamin complex changed its formula to add activated B12 when before it was only cobalamin. There's only a tiny bit in the vitamins, 100mcg of methyl cobalamin and 50mcg of cobalamin. I know that's not much compared to what people should take, especially since I don't eat meat, but the formula has really helped, possibly also due to the b6 and tiny bits of zinc because I think I'm likely quiet deficient in those too.
I think I have more has been effecting my b12 levels over the years, gastrointestinal issues that the srris made a lot lot worse and maybe absorption issues.
I stopped my b vitamins tablets about twelve days ago because I'm due to get my thyroid tested and there's biotin in the b complex which I know effects thyroid testing. I didn't get to the doctor because of other things happening but don't want to start the B's again till I do so am staying off them.
But my depression and anxiety is taking a turn down again so I know the B's must be helping when I do take them (I know neurotransmitters need them). I had some of my 1000mcg B12 left so I took one of those last weekend to help since it doesn't have biotin and was thinking that was going to cause anxiety but the opposite happened and my anxiety and depression went down and energy felt good rather than restless, really surprised me because I didn't think that was going to happen. Then I remembered the b12 test thing and didn't take anymore and haven't since.
I doubt I'll get my test done for at least several more days due to being stuck with other things. I guess my question was to ask if that will help the tests show a more accurate level of my natural baseline for b or not really because that still won't be enough time off them? I don't want to start back again just in case I can get in to the doctors sooner and I want the thyroid test to be as accurate as possible. But being off them my thinking is much more muddled and hard to focus, making simple mistakes and panic gets to me easier. Having more aches and pains and cold limbs too.

2024.05.17 02:22 Potential-Living-539 What can I do to overcome lithium poisoning?

Long story short, I had a provider who was negligent when prescribing me lithium. It nearly shut down my lungs, caused me to gain 130lbs, still causes severe myalgia, sleep disturbances and breathing problems.
I'm on month 4 of stopping this medication after 18 months. Most side effects have gone away. The weird weight gain when eating fresh vegetables and drinking water has gone away. The suffocating feeling and choking feeling is nearly gone. I've returned to exercising again but my lungs are totally shot. I still randomly gasp for air sometimes. Most days are good days, finally.
Turns out I was allergic to this drug right out the gate and I almost died from this. Luckily a new doctor saw what was happening and I stopped immediately.
Short of dialysis, what can I do to get this shit out of my body? Bentonite clay? I mean like is there really anything? I already drink boatloads of water, and take vit C, B3, B12, D, medicinal mushrooms, ibuprofen, aspirin, propanolol, amlodipine. I exercise 4 or 5 times a week for a couple hours at a time and my muscles have started to come back. I feel like I may be ready to start jogging again soon.
My insides still hurt. I feel very clenchy and like severe vasoconstriction or something. I eat healthier than most people and don't drink, do drugs, smoke, eat processed sugar, drink soda or really abuse my body in any way.
I haven't had bloodwork that shows continued elevated levels but I can still feel it in me and symptoms still wax and wane. I'm pretty positive I'm still being poisoned at least in some way. I'd really like to move on from this sooner than later.
Thank you in advance

2024.05.16 23:46 unknownemotion231 I'm wondering if any supplements are worth a try?

Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone could recommend supplements that maybe i should try.
I have depression and cptsd. Im currently on mirtazipine for that. Additionally I have an underactive thyroid so I'm also on levothyroxin. In addition last year I had to have b12 shots and I'm still currently on folic acid. I've had blood tests and my blood tests for tsh and b12/folate are okay.
But basically I suffer so badly with feeling tired in the morning, I can't motivate myself to do anything that is considered exercise. And although I'm on mirt, my appetite is still questionable to my diet is so rubbish. Most of the foots I eat are sugary convenience foods because that is what the meds make me crave. I sleep enough but I could sleep from like 11pm until midday and still feel tired. I still also suffer with low mood.
With all this in mind, I was wondering if there is any recommendations for supplements. I know I have to make diet/lifestyle changes too.
Thanks

2024.05.16 21:49 EmergencyCheesecake Med spa injections

My local med spa offers 2,500 b12 injections for a decent price for just trying out. When I was tested as deficient the first time I was told I should do injections but ended up doing sublingual because at that point I didn’t have symptoms and I was moving states and it seemed easier. 2 years later I’m doing sublingual 1-2x a day but interested in injections. Think it’s going to be difficult because my new pcp probably won’t just give me injections without the accurate new blood work, stoping sublingual, etc… sooo my med spa actually has b12 shots and I think I might try one but wondering if it’s a good idea to try?

2024.05.16 18:10 emilymm2 Excessive fatigue but everything is fine?

In the past 8-9 months or so my running has dropped off a cliff. I was never that fast but my pace is over a minute slower than it ever was before, the thought of running an 8:45 mile would be a speed workout today. When I run, I’ll be less than a mile into a 3-4 mile run and am just completely shot. My entire body feels tired, not just my legs, and it’s like I’m running through molasses.
I had blood work done and frustratingly everything is apparently perfectly fine—ferritin, vitamins B12/D, thyroid. I guess there isn’t much of a question in here besides has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know how else to explain such a significant change, and it’s so frustrating to feel like my body is just foreign to me now

2024.05.16 17:36 Happy_Ad_6360 First dose yesterday. Not great so far. Did anyone have it rough in the beginning then get better?

This post isn’t to discourage anyone at all. This has been my experience over the last 24 hours and am seeking some feedback from others to see if they had a similar start.
Background: Went through a 3rd party to order and the process was simple and really quick to receive. The Dr. Said there is also b12 in this first round of injections. I took the first shot yesterday and then went out to breakfast. Ordered my usual (which is probably pretty heavy in comparison to what people should eat on Oz.) felt fine but lethargic. Took a nap with my son. When I woke up I began to feel nauseous. Nauseous and lethargic all through the night. No appetite and when I went to bed it was… not fun.. felt like I couldn’t lay down because some feelings of heartburn and just overall some discomfort and pain in my abdomen. Also had a headache. Woke up with a headache and still feeling nauseous. Ate a smoothie and then an hour later threw it all up including my breakfast from yesterday. My mom takes Oz as well and said these symptoms don’t sound normal. Any thoughts here? I’m not thinking this is worth it to shed some weight. I really want to though.

2024.05.16 16:10 kittehgoesmeow What A Day: The Great Deflaters by Crooked Media (05/15/24)

"It’ll be entertaining, informative. Like the two old guys on the Muppets." - Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) getting amped up for the Trump-Biden debates.

Quality Control

Republican dreams of recapturing the Senate are shining a little brighter today, after primaries in West Virginia and Maryland handed nominations to less-crazy-than-usual candidates.
The persistent Haley support, months after she quit the race, suggests plenty of lingering unease among moderate Republicans about Trump. The question becomes what those voters will do in November.

Under The Radar

A very spooky new CBS News investigation found nearly 80 election deniers are working across key battleground states in important election oversight positions. Cool! Love that!
So there are folks in charge of running elections in places like Nevada that either don’t believe the 2020 election results, pushed election conspiracies, refused to certify past results or publicly supported the January 6th insurrection. One can only imagine what people like this would do if Trump or other MAGA Republicans lose their races come November. (Spoiler: they might try to deny!)

What Else?

The old boys have decided to duke it out face-to-face once again. The Biden v. Trump debate showdown is confirmed, at least for now, for June 27 on CNN. They even agreed to meet again on September 10. Both candidates had scoffed at participating in the traditional schedule from the Commission on Presidential Debates, and have now opted in to at least two network events. RFK Jr. said he feels excluded. Poor thing. Must be tough! We are surely in for a respectful classy healthy debate amongst gentlemen, right?
The publicity around Trump’s criminal trial led a majority of Americans (52%) to believe, for the first time, that he did falsify business records, according to a new poll, endorsing prosecutors’ key charge against him. The big question now: will the jury agree? Also, how is this guy ahead in the polls???
The number of abortions in the U.S. actually grew during the 18 months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, according to a report by the Society for Family Planning. A major factor: telehealth visits, which are now responsible for 19% of all abortions in the U.S., compared to 4% in mid-2022. Research has found telehealth abortions are as safe and effective as in-person visits.
Oligarchy alert: just 50 American billionaire families have dumped over $600 million into the 2024 election, according to a new report by the progressive nonprofit Americans for Tax Fairness. Almost 70% of those contributions went to (you guessed it) conservative candidates and causes. C’mon, rich folks, shouldn’t you spend that dough on a new set of polo ponies or something? Dressage horses? Whatever freaky stuff you guys like.
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico remains in critical condition after he was shot multiple times in what officials are calling an apparent political assassination attempt. The 59-year-old pro-Russian leader was shot in the abdomen and is still in the hospital.
A jury has been sworn in for the bribery trial of Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ). A prosecutor told the court on Wednesday that Menendez “put his power up for sale.” A defense attorney countered that Menendez was “not as an agent of the Egyptian government,” took no bribes, and is “an American patriot.” Then a bunch of gold bars fell out of Menedez’s pockets.
Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) scorched his fellow Republicans for “prostrating themselves” outside Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan this week. Romney said: “I think it’s a little demeaning to show up in front of the courthouse — and particularly one where we’re talking about an allegation of paying a porn star. And it’s really, really very difficult to watch.”

Light At The End Of The Email

The Supreme Court ordered Louisiana to use a congressional map drawn with an additional majority Black district in this upcoming election, stomping out a lower court ruling that called the map an illegal racist gerrymander. This is good news for Democrats hoping to gain control of the House in November. And we need all the good news we can get these days.
Inflation eased for the first time in 2024, in good news for consumers and the economy. Stocks closed at a record high.
The number of drug overdose deaths in the U.S. fell 3% last year, marking the first annual decline since 2018.

Didn’t get a great shot but I lost this guy in my bed somewhere. I’ve torn it apart but can’t find him. I’m in Maryland. Any chance it’s recluse or something dangerous? What is best next step?

2024.05.15 22:01 fortheloveofdog33 Semagulutide+B12 anyone?

Anyone else on the sema that's mixed with B12? I know people who are on/were on Wegovy, but I haven't come across anyone taking the semagulutide B12 combo. Curious about feedback as I just gave myself my second shot. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.15 20:20 Tricky_Badger_2071 Why does my doctor not want me to be on statin for high cholesterol at age 20?

I’m 20F, height 5'4, weight 140lbs. I have a cholesterol of 252 and triglycerides at 175. I’m vitamin B12 deficient (I’m getting shots for this) and Vitamin D deficient (I was prescribed weekly supplements for this).
My high cholesterol is a result of being on antidepressants. This has happened in the past when I was on Pristiq, now I am on trintellix.
I do not eat a lot, and I eat about as unhealthily as everyone else. I love fruit and vegetables and eat them if I can afford them (good fruits and veggies are kinda expensive in the U.S.). I don’t exercise a lot, like I don’t go to the gym, but I’m almost always doing something. Whether I’m on my feet for 8 hours at work, or running errands, or out on adventures with my bf. Sometimes I’m lazy in bed, and then I rest for the day, but the next day I’m back up doing stuff.
My primary care wants me to speak to a cardiologist to see what can be done before she prescribes me statin, but she does not want me on them.
Everywhere I’ve read, it says they’re perfectly fine for young people and that the chance of them causing harm are like 11%. Why would it be so awful to be on statin??
For context, I’ve been on 9 antidepressants and trintellix is the only one to have ever helped me with no awful side effects (except I guess for hightened cholesterol). It’s helped me a lot with severe self harm urges and I feel happier and better. I’m pretty devastated that I might have to get off this antidepressant just because of my stupid cholesterol, and then be stuck with this awful depression for the rest of my life.
Is statin really so bad?
**Edit to add: apparently my dad, a nurse practitioner, believes it causes dementia. My primary care likely believes the same. Even though research says it does the complete opposite and decreases the risk….
