2024.05.13 22:45 redddddiitttt [Offer] The only name your price web designer /developer?

Hi All,
I’m an experienced web developer and designer, launching a new and unique way of getting a website built - my USP is “name your price” and I’ll build a website based on that budget.
The website - www.yourpricewebsites.com
As I’m keen on building up a strong relationship and showcase of high quality work, this isn’t just a rinse-repeat of the same template. All websites I build will be made by myself, based on your needs.
A few things I offer as part of this
The way it works:
Enter the request on the website and I’ll be in touch.
I’ll take a down payment to cover the domain, setup and homepage. Then the rest once the homepage is to your liking.
I offer three months hosting and maintenance for free, then it’s $30 monthly after that (or I can provide you the site files).
This is something that I’m very interested in seeing the sort of enquiries I receive and hope to educate others on the progress of this project (seeing as I’ve never seen a web design/development company work this way before).
All the best,
Josh.

2024.05.13 22:34 No_Degree_7361 [web browser] [around 2000-2012?] Nostalgic underwater(?) kids game I've been trying to remember

Platform(s): web browser, it had its own website, It may have also been on additional sites but I know I played it on its own site.
Genre: Casual, it was a really light game, there was no specific plot as far as I'm aware, it may have been a creation style game like making characters or scenery, however I'm not certain it's been a long time so my memory is very foggy
Estimated year of release: I don't know exactly but it would've been before 2012 and I don't believe it would've been before early 2000s
Graphics/art style: 2d very cartoony a more light and cute aesthetic based game, It was very bubbly, soft and round kind of style, and the background was blue I'm fairly certain it was underwater but it may have been a sky, or it could have swapped between the two. I know that it was a light blue background and the game name was mid-upper screen in a large white bubble letter font very similar to the Poptropica font with the blue shadows and outlines but rounder.
Notable characters: all the characters were animals I don't remember there being any humans they were all just little cartoon animals, and I don't remember if you really played as a character or not
Notable gameplay mechanics: unfortunately I can't solidly remember anything about the gameplay itself, I only remember the overall style of the game and the introduction
Other details: it was a game I would play in school so there is a small chance it may have been educational however I don't think it was I'm pretty sure it was just one of the few approved non educational games, there's a chance it's an obscure Canadian game but I haven't been able to find anything about it, so it could also have been taken down, I just remember playing it between sometime between 2012ish to 2015. I remember when you go into the website the loading screen background is completely blue (a bit of a darker blue) with the white bubble font, but part of me wants to say the words were kind of cloud shaped if that makes sense. Then when It loaded it still had the name of the game in the upper part of the screen and the lighter blue background with little cartoon animals under it. Possibly relevant I want to say that the name may have been related to the words bubbles/clouds/creatures/animals/pets but that may be just words my brain is thinking are relevant just because of the style of the game.
If anyone happens to have any idea what It might be I'd appreciate it, I apologize if none of what I said makes sense I can attempt to clarify if needed, it's just a game that I occasionally remember and it's nostalgic, it just bothers me that I can't remember it.

2024.05.13 22:30 shione-shirakami Predicting Yandere Simulator great twist : Ayano and Megami

Most of you are probably already aware of this theory. It has been around for years. The great twist of Yandere Simulator will be the reveal that Megami and Ayano are sisters.
This had been a widly accepted theory since the release of Megami's first design, back when she still had black hair. Her design at the time was extremely similar to Kill la Kill character, Satsuki Kiryun. For those who are unaware, Satsuki is the main antagonist of the anime, and the president of the student council the protagonist attends. The plot twist of the anime is that she is the protagonist's sister.
Considering Alex knows about Kill la Kill, as proven by several easter eggs, it's likely he decided to use the same plot twist for Yandere Simulator. Megami's design was changed to not give it away immediatly, but of course, Alex couldn't keep his damn mouth shut, so there are many, MANY details that confirm this theory. I said details ? I should have said pages.
However, I feel like a lot of people are glossing over many details about this theory, and have many misconceptions about it. Notably, about how Megami and Ayano are related. So I decided to give my own theory, including all the... uh... subtle evidences we get in the game.
Crazy Grandpa master plan
No need to beat around the Saikou family's bush (or should I say tree, wink wink), you probably know about the Saikou Grandpa eugenics tendencies. His goal is to create the perfect human being, and he plans on using that by acheving the perfect combination of genetics.
So you might not know about this, but there are two major theories about the development of an individual. It's nature against nurture. Is an individual as he is because he was born this way, or because he grew to be this way. Is a person a blank slate at birth, or is their individuality already present from birth. This plays into determinism, I won't go into more details for a Yandere Simulator dumb theory, but you can look it up if you're interested.
So, to go back to Crazy Grandpa, he was probably on the side of nature at first. He only reproduced after he found the perfect wife, as he didn't want his gene pool to be "tainted", going as far as to DNA her on random shit. How did he DNA test her in the 60s is anyone's guess but let's move on.
The result were two children, Ichiko and Ichirou. Ichiko was raised rather normally, and ended up leaving the Saikou family as she didn't want to become the CEO. Crazy Grandpa saw it as the failure of his belief in nature, and decided to switch to nurture with Ichiro.
So Ichirou was raised with high expectations, to the point he acted like a robot, but Crazy Grandpa was very proud about what he had become.
Saishou carefully designed a very specific upbringing for Ichirou in order to encourage the development of specific personality traits and interests, and discourage the development of any attribute that he considered to be 'unnecessary'.
The boy spoke formally at all times, never expressed emotion, and rarely changed his facial expression. The Saikou family's attendants often wondered if the boy was still capable of independent thought, or if he was simply an empty shell that had been trained to carry out his father's will." Beside that, nothing else is known about his personality.
Familiar, isn't it ? We also learn that this is Saisho's conception of an "ideal person".
It is mentionned Grandpa was the one to chose Ichirou's wife, with the same criteria as he chose his own wife. Again, a perfect wife, because he didn't want his son to waste all the work he had put to this point to have a perfect bloodline. To this point, grandpa got the living proof that nurture works, but he still can't let go of his belief nature plays a part in it.
If only there was a way to run an experiment that could give an answer to this question...
The theory
The sisters theory is that Megami and Ayano are sisters, but there are usually divergences on how they are related. Keep in mind that I will be using the old timeline from 1980s mode as a template. It's already inaccurate as Yandere Simulator isn't set in 2022 anymore, but in 2026. But I don't care, the events probably play the same way.
Megami and Ayano are revealed in this timeline to have been born in the same year. You'll notice that the timeline mentions the birth of "Ryoba's daughter", and the birth of "Ichirou's daughter". Keep in mind that Jokichi isn't mentioned as Ayano's father.
And that's where we come to the main misconception in this theory.
Who are Megami's parents ?
Ichirou is obviously Megami's father. However, many have theorized that Ryoba is Megami's biological mother. This theory goes both way, either Megami and Ayano are twins separated from birth, or Saikou kept an egg from Ryoba and inseminated the Wife. This would make her Ayano's maternal half-sister.
I don't suscribe to this theory. Well, first of all, considering the timeline, Crazy Grandpa was the one behind the deal we'll mention later with Ryoba. I don't think he would have wasted his time finding a wife with perfect genes for his son if he had planned for her to only be an incubator.
Also, another reason, Megami's little antenae. It's a part of her design that she gets from her mother. The Wife is also mentioned to have given birth to two children, Megami and Kencho, which wasn't a necessary precision. Alex would have probably found a way to circumvent this if she hasn't really have birth to Megami.
So no, sorry, Megami probably isn't a yandere.
So... if Ayano and Megami aren't related throught Ryoba... how are they sisters ?
Through Ichirou. Simply enough.
Yeah, as great of a dad Jokichi is, he is probably not Ayano's biological father. Ayano is a copy paste of Ryoba, so he doesn't share anything in common with Ayano design-wise, that could indicate he is indeed her father. We don't even know that much about him as an adult. The Characters page doesn't mention him being Ayano's father, he is only described as the student he was back in the 80s.
However, Ichirou is described as extremely similar personality wise to Ayano. While Ayano is probably emotionless due to the Aishi curse, she is way more stoic than Ryoba in her own mode. But that's still a weak evidence, this is way I will back this up with the timeline.
We know that Ryoba has given birth to a daughter very late compared to her own mother and grandmother. These reasons are said to be plot related and big spoilers. Again, Ayano's father isn't mentioned as a parent, only Ryoba.
I recently went through my text document that lists all character ages and birthdates and changed a few things. Aishi women now give birth at 18. Ryoba, however, gave birth at 31, for plot-related reasons that will be revealed in the true ending (or perhaps in the basement tapes).
So, this is my own theory on what happened.
Just shut up and tell us what happened already
In the timeline, it is mentioned Ryoba's mother kept her Senpai in her basement. In 1984, when Ryoba was still a child, Saikou Corp renovated all the houses in Buraza Town for free, including Ryoba's house. Why was this even mentioned ? Because it was the first meeting between the Saikou and Aishi families.
Crazy Grandpa found out about the weird shit happening in the Aishi's basement. He learns about the Aishi curse. He decides to keep an eye on the Aishi's daughter at Akademi. Everything Ryoba did to get her Senpai convinces him the Aishi gene is the perfect gene to create an emotionless heir.
Kocho is extremely reluctant to let Ryoba return to the school, stand on a stage, and hand her a diploma but was told by Saisho Saikou to let it go.
He orders his men to abduct Jokichi as an hostage, so she would agree to have a meeting. That's when they made a deal, that Ryoba would be the mother of the future Saikou heir. But not only is Ichiro not old enough, he wants to find the perfect wife for him. She can marry her Senpai and have well paying jobs in the meantime.
Ten years after that, Ryoba has a meeting with Saikou and his son. And according to Kencho, she is apparently a regular.
She walked straight through the waiting room and directly into Mr. Saikou's office, without even speaking a single word to the secretary.
How long had that woman been coming here? How often? What business did she have here?
Kencho asks the secretary details, and we are told :
The secretary was silent for a few moments, and then gave me some generic platitude about how "the details of Mr. Saikou's appointments must be kept strictly confidential."
So either Saisho fired the previous secretary, or this meeting must be extremely confidential. Because that secretary was a huge gossip when it came to Ichiro and Saisho's falling off.
We get the confirmation it is a big deal as all the employees act the same at the mention of Ryoba.
When they saw how distraught I was, they were eager to help, but...
...When I asked them about that woman who just walked by, they... their attitudes changed in a heartbeat.
They slowly turned away from me and returned to their work in silence.
They ignored me, as if I wasn't even there! I haven't been treated like that since I was a schoolboy!
It was as if that woman was a taboo subject that no-one was allowed to speak of...or that...
He asks about her several times but Crazy Grandpa shuts him down. Kencho mentions Ichiro was there for all the meetings, but he has only heard him speak a handful of times. However, we also know that Ryoba and Ichiro have spoken with each other.
2004, Ichiro is in his mid-twenties. He gets married to the Wife. That's when his two daughters are born : Megami is born to the Wife, as the official heir to Saikou. Ayano is born to Ryoba, away from the Saikou family, as the bearer of the Aishi curse.
How exactly what Ayano born ? It is unlikely Ryoba would have cheated on Jokichi, which is why many have theorized on an insemination. Considering Saikou is a tech company, it's not out of reach.
He had two children, in accordance with his father's wishes; 'One as a backup in case the first child fails you.'
Yes, this might refer to Kencho. But this might also refer to Ayano. After all, Saisho did have twin daughters, before having a spare...
One was raised to be emotionless. One was born emotionless. It was the old debate, nurture against nature. Which one would produce the perfect heir to the eyes of the Saikou ?
Crazy grandpa retires in 2019, right before Megami and Ayano enter Akademi, and Ichiro becomes CEO.
Ichiro wants to select the perfect heir. And for that, he decides he will select the one who will come out on top, between Megami and Ayano. He seals a deal with Kencho about Ayano.
There is...one tape...that I'm already prepared to part ways with... The tape I made after Mr. Saikou's recent, ah...demands. It's far, far too risky for a recording like that to exist... That one...must be destroyed...immediately.
We know this deal is about Ayano. When Kencho kills Ayano as he feels threatened, he says "Mr. Saikou, the deal is off".
Ryoba and Jokichi both work for Saikou. We know from the headmaster that Ryoba and Ichiro have frequent meetings. She is able to walk in his office regularly. Why ? To discuss their daughter.
When Ryoba announces they are going to America, and Jokichi worries about their job, she says she gave a call to their boss and "he was very understanding". I used to interpret this as their boss being scared of Ryoba. But if their boss is Ichirou, there might be a reason he was so understanding. If Jokichi and Ryoba were to get away from Buraza Town, they wouldn't get in the way of his plans.
After Ayano disposes of Osana, we get a cutscene where he is on the phone with Ichiro. He seems very pleased with the unfolding events, and tells Kencho these deaths are "necessary casualties" for the "progress of science". Normal CEO activity, nothing wrong here.
But Megami also learns about this, as she is aware of the presence of a dangerous individual. Either Ichiro told her, or she might have discovered it by herself. Ichiro keeps her away from school for several weeks. She attends school through Zoom.
In very early builds of the game, you could find a laptop in the school. You would get to see Megami as a shadowy figure, back when she still had black hair. And here's her monologue :
I know who you are. I know WHAT you are. My father won't allow me to attend school while you are... "active". He has a reason for tolerating your presence at this school. I don't. You are a vulgar creature that is only allowed to exist because you serve a purpose. If it was my decision, then every last one of you would be exterminated.
And here's the end of Megami's description.
Megami clearly has some very important information that would cause her to go to such extreme lengths...but what does she know? Does Saikou Corp have anything to do with it? And, more importantly, does Senpai have anything to do with it?
So yeah, that's it for me folks, I'm putting the tin foil hat away and going back to my regular activities. If you have any counterpoint or anything to add, please tell it in the comments.

2024.05.13 22:12 arcanewulf [PC][2010] Shooter game where the protagonist is fighting robots, some of which have blended in with humans and may not even know they are robots.

Possible Spoilers (story plot twists in the description)
Platform(s):PC I think (possibly Playstation 3/others) Genre: Estimated year of release:2010-2014 Graphics/art style: I remember it being like common games of the era like CoD, Deus Ex(the newer ones), Remember Me Notable characters: Female Protagonist, robots who blend in as humans Notable gameplay mechanics: Shooter (can't remember if it's FPS or Over the Shoulder Other details: Plot twist is the female lead ends up pregnant. I can't remember if she's a robot and is pregnant and that's the plot twist, or if she's human and the child is artificial and made by the robot AI.
Okay guys, I'm trying to find a game that I can only remember parts of. I know that the game involves AI robots who look indistinguishable from humans (possibly some of them are unaware they are even robots). You play as a character who has to break into the research facility that produced these androids and gather information and possibly destroy the source. You find that they have been doing a ton of research and eventually, at the end, you find out that the character that you play as was a robot from the facility all along? Or possible the protagonist ends up pregnant with an artificial child? Either way it's a huge plot twist at the end and it leaves you wondering if the machines were right or if they should have been destroyed.
I'm probably butchering the description, I only barely remember it. I'd love to play it again. I remember playing it (I believe) on PC and it would have likely been between 2010-2014 ish. I thought it was on Steam but I cannot find anything like it in my steam library. If I remember right it was set in a jungle-ish setting, and the facility was abandoned/run down and all that was left was the machines.
If anyone has a clue what I'm talking about please let me know. I almost feel like I'm gaslighting myself and it's not a real game.

Gorgeous ahh suit back in theaters
Probably my least favorite movie in the live action franchise, so many plot lines to keep in track and spends a good majority of the second and third act setting up future movies. However, we get perhaps the most brilliant suit to glaze the screen. What do you think of The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

2024.05.13 21:37 KangarooWithARifle [pc] [2000s] help me with finding a game i played on moms pc

So, i vividly remember a game that frustrated the hell out of me (because i was 7 years old kid). It was a point'n'click adventure game, that contained a level at some park/forest/museum area in urban setting with construction site at a globe statue. After certain point, there was a cutscene where a (?black?) man was sitting in a black car or van, putting eye meds in his eyes (like, dripping meds in his eye), seemingly waiting or stalking protags. Maybe the plot involved a murder or some sort of it That game has cellshaded 3d graphics and it was definitely released in 00's or very early 2010's, as it was 2010 or 2011.

2024.05.13 21:09 StateInitial956 Updating my resume after having no luck for 2 years

Hey guys, I have been looking on and off for an entry level full time job for a couple years and haven’t had much luck.
To be blunt, I know I’m not an amazing candidate. After failing out of school years ago and working various part time jobs, I got my degree in Media Arts. The issue is that I probably didn’t specialize as much as I should have in one specific thing. I have experience with several types of jobs, but I’m not really an expert in anything. I know a lot about shipping and customer service, I’m just kind of an okay graphic designer and video editor, and I’ve also done Administrative Assistant work for a large financial company.
I decided to update my resume to be a bit more ATS compliant and have started looking for any kind of entry level job that would be looking for some skills I have. Administrative assistant, logistics, customer service, generic social media/marketing stuff, etc. I’m also working on making my portfolio website now that I have more to showcase even if it is only average quality at best.
Was hoping to get some feedback on this to see what I can improve on to hopefully make me more attractive to employers. Thanks guys!

2024.05.13 19:59 OCStudiosAndCritique [F4M] The prey becomes the predator.

Hello! You may call me Sun, or rat! I'm currently dying to use an old OC who I've recently revamped. This can be oc x oc, or if you'd prefer to play a canon character that's fine! I don't mind who you play as, so long they could fit into the desired role I have in mind.
Before anything, helloooo~ I'm a nineteen year old so I'd prefer playing with eighteen and up roleplayers! I can typically write three paragraphs minimum. I'll provide a roleplay sample at the end. What I'm currently looking for is someone who could play possibly a detective like character for the role against my oc! Mine being a serial killer. 😅 I know, this is a bit of a "wow that's a twist" of a plot, I just adore playing characters who aren't normal.
Speaking of, she's also not entirely human, think of her like a satyr but more deer-like. But anyhow, I feel like it'd be fun to roleplay the whole mystery and thrill of trying to hunt down an infamous killer you know? While the killer themselves maintains a second persona when they're not doing their usual.. well you know. We of course can throw in other elements to this! Like maybe they have to work together at some point, or maybe the detective is caught by the killer? 👀
The time period of course will be modern, well. Maaaaybe. We could do a time period era if you have anything in mind, I want you to bring ideas too!
If you want to go for romance we can sure try! It would definitely be a slow burn though. A fair warning there will be some elements of mild gore, but nothing too extreme and nothing too graphic. If you've read this far, DM me with what your favorite candy is and just a basic introduction! That way I know you've gotten this far.
I can't wait to meet you!

2024.05.13 19:37 SAF10102 F4F Spider-Gwen RP

Hey! I’m currently really into Spider-Man right now after having rewatched all three Toby Maguire movies in theaters (which was an awesome experience 😭) so I’ve been dying to roleplay a ship I’ve always wanted to try out which is Spider-Gwen x Mary Jane, I was thinking it could either be a loose retelling of the first Spider-Man movie but with Gwen Stacey instead of Peter Parker or it could be a completely made up plot that we can work on together! I honestly have no preference on which route we go so just lmk which you prefer in your first message, I’d also appreciate if you include which character you want to play, I have no preference myself of who I play so feel free to pick either one!
Some rules:
I’m 21 so you must be 18+
I prefer quality over quantity when it comes to writing, as long as it’s not low effort and it gives me something to go off of then I’m fine with any length besides one liners
I do get busy so I’m not always available to rp but if it’s been 2 days without a response then don’t be afraid to send a reminder text as sometimes I do forget to reply 😭
If you ever feel like the rp isn’t working out for you please let me know instead of just ghosting, I completely understand that rps don’t always work out so it’s no problem at all!
I prefer to keep things on Reddit! I’m fine with either chat or dm so message me through whichever you prefer!

2024.05.13 18:44 YourStonerGF 33F, US, For your new nerdy best friend inquire within!

I'm rather nerdy. I spend most of my days at home hanging out with the cats. I've loved art ever since I was very young. I have big ambitions to have my own graphic design gig some day.
I love video games. I got a lot to play on. PS5, Xbox One, Switch, Meta Quest 2, and my iPad. So, like, pretty much everything but PC 😅 I also collect PS1 & 2 games to play on my PlayStation 2. In recent years I've been very casual with my gaming, playing a lot of platformers and survival/crafting games. I'll play a bit of everthing, though, except, like, sports games.
I love tabletop games. Star Wars Legion, Warhammer 40K/AoS, Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, Digimon TCG, and Lorcana. I love to paint miniatures as well, but it's a bit of a struggle to actually get people to play with me. Never really gotten the chance to play an TTRPG, but would love to. I suffer from a bit of learning curve.
I love music. Dance Gavin Dance, Papa Roach, Twenty-One Pilots, A Day To Remember, stuff like that. Bit of an elder emo. I wish I could play an instrument, but I fear I may be tone deaf 🙃
I love Marvel. Spider-Man's probably my favorite.
I love Harry Potter. Pretty sure my house is Hufflepuff.
Huge fan of The Office. I've seen the whole series countless times.
I love horror movies and got into true crime on YouTube few years ago. My favorite horror movie is probably The Blair Witch Project, second to the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I love anime and manga. Demon Slayer is by far my favorite. I also really love Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Digimon, Dragon Ball, and Sword Art Online.
I'm doin' a Japanese course on Duolingo.
I love baking, coffee, and grilling. I don't have too much confidence in my cooking skills 😅 I'm rather adept at baking though, and I love smoked meats 🤤

2024.05.13 18:33 multitoucher Design Test after passing interview...But it's for a paying client they have..

I'm not totally sure how to feel about this situation that I'm in. For context, I've been in graphic design 15 years or so, and about 10 professionally. Most of my professional work has been within my own companies. Clothing, freelance, contract advertising.
I've gotten to the point where I'm tired of being independent and doing everything on my own, I don't have the same drive that I used to where I would do music festival and comic convention vending every weekend to make ends meet. This year I decided it's time to find a role within a team so that my life can be a bit more stable and relaxed as I grow into my thirties.
I applied for a designer role at the leading vehicle wrap shop in my hometown. Prior to my interview, the owner requested a design test. I hate the idea of design tests, but this is a small, family owned company. I decided I'm willing to play ball if it gets me an interview. After all, I prefer a small place that I can help grow with the skills I've acquired over the past decade, as opposed to a corporate designer in a stuffy environment. He sends me a template for a truck, and basically told me to show him what I've got. I created a logo and style guide for a fake electricity company. Nailed the composition. Created a photorealistic mockup in PS for a bit of overkill. Send it to him and wait for the response.
When he gets back to me later that day, he's clearly impressed by my work and sets up an interview immediately. When I go to the interview a couple of days later everything goes smoothly. We have a lot of good back and forth banter. He's touring me around the building and using language that's highly suggestive of me already having the position. He reviews my portfolio with me, notes many times on how impressed he is and how well I demonstrated my range in my portfolio. He asks me what I'm seeking for pay, and then proposes the idea of a second design test. He tells me for the first time that there are two other applicants and while he thinks I'm the most advanced applicant, he still wants to see what the three of us can come up with for a "real client scenario."
At this point I'm more than a little annoyed, but I just smile through it and tell him I'd be willing to do another testing round. After all, they're a small company, and sorely in need of someone with a real design background if I'm being honest, and I know they have to be careful where they put their money. I give the benefit of the doubt that the guy just doesn't realize how sleazy he's being and how frowned upon this is. He was really cool otherwise.
Well, fast forward to this morning and he sends me over the specs for the new "test." It's for a real company. I know of the company he's requesting this test for. I google them to verify..yup, they're a real company. I email the owner and politely ask "Hey, GUY, quick question, is this for an actual company that's hired your company for design work?"
He responds "Yes." to my email.
Where do I go from here? Am I supposed to feel as livid as I do? I really want a well paying internal job, and this place really seems like it could be a great fit. I think that I can help them a lot as he's wanting to expand into areas that I have a lot of expertise in. But this one has me unsure of how to move forward. Do I attempt to educate him at the cost of my hiring by telling him how frowned upon this practice is, and that he should be able to make a decision based on my portfolio and interview process? Do I deny the work and insult him in the process? Do I deny the work and tell him that I'm willing to do this for a standard hourly rate? Do I just do it? Do I just do it, but watermark the living hell out of it?
I could really use some insight from some of you more senior level guys. Thank you in advance <3

2024.05.13 18:26 JonoSteel Lost in the sauce and need a recommendation

I could use some recommendations but want to paint a bit of background since that'll probably help.
My Favorites: - Annabelle Hawthorne's Home for Horny Monster Series - Tamryn Tamer HoS Series (I am giving up on them...) - The Alien Ship (Found on Literotica many years ago and pissed the story was just starting and ended abruptly)
What I've read and liked: - Backyard Goblins
What I've read either partial or complete and disliked: - Monster Girl Island series (not too bad, but predictable and dry writing) - Monster Girl (Just couldn't get into for some odd reason) - Fairy Breeder (Dry writing and huge plot holes)
So now for recommendations. I am having a hard time navigating this and other genres and could use some help finding series to read. I am more than willing to pay for great content (HUGE Annabelle Hawthore Supporter! Thank God she hit her Patreon marker to dedicate herself to full time writing!)
What I am hoping to find: Great story in either Science Fiction or Fantasy Theme with graphic descriptions of the good stuff! I am open to many things, just need some guidance. Thank you all so much for being welcoming to newbies!

2024.05.13 18:25 Miyette Games like Song of the Evertree?

All right, I know I am not the first to ask, but I loved this game and I am really new to this genre. I have tried some recommendations for other games already, but I did not like Yonder nearly as much, and I could not get into Stardew Valley (the two most popular suggestions), so that's why I am looking for more ideas. Grow was, imo, a lot more streamlined, with a clear plot and final goal, while simultaneously giving you freedom to mess about and take your time & customisation options. I also liked the graphics a lot better. I can see the charm in pixels, but I am spoiled and like it when things look pretty and cute.
I don't normally play games like this; mostly into rpgs and action/adventure, like Final Fantasy, Uncharted, Diablo, Last of Us... but this was a perfect game to play with the kids around. I could hand my four year old the controller and let her do whatever she wanted without messing anything up, which was great. And it was really relaxing, so I would love to try more of these cozy games. Any tips?

2024.05.13 18:21 EndBot My review and thoughts no spoilers.

I have been a long time fan of the series in fact the original is my favorite RTS of all time.
The Graphics are fantastic and suck you in excluding cutscenes. The cutscenes are good but I miss the old style cutscenes made from vector images. I think I would rather have seen a more classic style or just go full live action as the gap between the hard edge stuff and soft is too much. That said it didn't detract from my experience too much.
The soundtrack is stunning and keeps in line with the series having great audio.
The plot was much more personal than the previous games but felt good.
I used the new control set and it was easy to get used to with the exception of docking.
Turrets are novel especially with all the extra surfaces.
The absence of a tech tree and lack of variation does leave something to be desired. Only one corvette made them feel somewhat useless.
The larger ships feel much less dangerous than previous series.
The war games concept is amazing but needs alot of balance work. Recon are vastly overpowered and the frigates feel underwhelming. Additionally working in some way to get larger units is a must. Capture and defend shipyard for a ship might be cool.
I think it will flesh out over time.
My wishlist for wargames
  1. Bomber inclusion
  2. Expanded stats, how many of each ship type did each player destroy or damage.
  3. More maps and objectives
  4. A method to get larger ships.
  5. More difficulty modifications and a method to pick and choose.
  6. Ability to abandon relics as you can lock yourself into a bad deal especially when stacking.
I haven't played skirmish yet so I can't speak to it.
Overall I am happy with the game and look forward to seeing it grow.

2024.05.13 18:14 OpALbatross Potential to buy family land cheap and build - what to consider?

Hello!
TLDR: I don't know if I want to stay on the land we are living on, but don't want to see it destroyed or sold out of the family. Try to buy closer to the city, or build in the country?
My mom owns our house and land. She has decided that if / when my husband and I move, she wants to bulldoze the house, log the land and then sell it. It's 12.5 acres in the mountains.
This land has been in our family since the 1800s (my dad's side). It's where I grew up. We already bought our funeral plots 20 minutes away, so are committed to staying in the surrounding area. We love the land, but don't like the house currently on it. I tear up when I think about the land being destroyed.
My mom said she would be open to selling the land to us, not at market value (so I'm assuming under market. She also said she wouldn't need the money up front, because she knows the cost to build and get it more livable would be high). She also said she didn't think we would want to live here. Right now she lets us live here for free (previously since my husband was in school, now because I'm in school, and she doesn't need our money. We are incredibly thankful for this). We aren't sure if we would want this area to be the forever home. There are a ton of pros and cons.
The land is near a pipeline being constructed, currently has no cell phone service, and poor Internet (but that could change). It is a rural community with lots of people with rural, conservative views. We get snowed in easily. There are a ton of trees that block out the light, and a ton of deer so gardening would be a challenge.
My husband and I are liberal. I'm bi. We love our new neighbors though, and are related to most of the others (even if they are more conservative. People usually keep to themselves).
It's a 35-40 minute drive to the closest city... Gym, groceries, schools... You're basically driving 30 minutes to get to anything. But it's quiet and beautiful and home.
It's not in the school district we were considering, but it is in the one we went to. We both feel good about the education we received. We likely couldn't be the hang out house like we wanted for when we have kids (since it is so far out of the way).
It could limit employment options, but my husband really likes his company and they are well established. I'm studying graphic design (I graduate in two years) so will have the ability to freelance. The plan is for me to stay home with kids (if possible).
The current build would need torn down. It has fundamental problems that are more expensive to fix than the home is worth. It has a well, but that may need fixed. It almost certainly will need a new septic tank by then. We would basically have to tear everything down and start from scratch.
My husband is an electrical engineer. In a few years, he will likely be certified to design and sign off on electrical plans, so could likely do that aspect of our house. My father in law does a ton of home building and had added buildings / additions to his home that are beautiful and well crafted. My husband had helped him with that before. Because of this, there is a chance we could do some of the work ourselves / within the family.
We would likely need to level more of the land. My husband and I would also want a spot to build a shop, and potentially a greenhouse. The soil is pretty rocky so building a fence isn't super feasible (to contain children, dogs, etc. - we have gotten several people to look into it and each one said not possible).
We would want to build an eco-friendly, mostly off the grid home. The trees would likely make solar panels less effective, but cutting the trees would likely make the soil less "secure."
My husband and I have talked at length about how much we would love to one day build our own eco-friendly home. We figured we'd never be able to afford the land and the build. Buying this "discounted" land may be our best hope at this dream, even if it isn't perfect.
Home prices in the areas we looked are crazy and come on tiny lots. I'm honestly not sure which is the more affordable option, or which we would be happier with. We would be looking to build or buy in the next 2-3 years.
Is building a home more expensive than buying an existing construction? If so, how much more expensive? Are there ways to make it cheaper? How did you decide what route to take? Can first time home buyer / veteran home loans be used for construction? Are there more pros / cons that maybe I haven't considered? How did you decide to build / buy?
Any advice / insight would be appreciated.

2024.05.13 17:43 PunkinBrewster Where are the creator resources for ToV?

Has Kobold Press released any style guides, graphics, or templates for 3rd party creators? The only creators kit that I can find is for streamers, not for people who want to write ToV compatible adventures.
If these don't exist, are there plans in the works for a DMs Guild style ecosystem?

2024.05.13 16:27 SurroundOther4472 What Is Evergreen Content?

If you’ve been following along with our theme for this month, you’ll know we’ve been putting a lens on sustainability in marketing. With that in mind, it would be tragic if we didn’t discuss Evergreen Content.
What is Evergreen Content?
As the term suggests, Evergreen Content is content that is continually relevant for your audience for a long period of time. But wait, don’t confuse something being accessible for “long periods of time’ with it being Evergreen content. After all, you might post a blog and it doesn’t disappear after you publish it, in fact, it might stay on the internet forever but that doesn’t necessarily make the topic and ideas in the blog relevant to a person if they were to read it months from now, does it?
Evergreen Content regardless of the medium of distribution is content that is useful for both the audience and your business beyond the necessity of time it was released. But with the fast-paced consumption of media now and the sheer quantity of content being resurfaced, what does Evergreen content look like in 2023?
Evergreen content can be generated for many different mediums.
Evergreen content on social media marketing might look like posts about your local food business location and general information like telephone numbers or reservations that would only change if you moved your business.
For an e-commerce website on social media, you might make Evergreen around your customer’s UGC photos of your staple products.
Your use case for Evergreen content will expand beyond social too! For your website and SEO, you might create how-to articles on how to operate your products for example, how to clean your make-up brushes, the very ones your brand is built around. You might even add value guides such as nutritional values or a set of videos expanding on just how cool your brand is.
Here are some other examples of Evergreen content:
· FAQs
· Checklists
· How to guides
· Policies
· Celebrity collaborations
· Case Studies
· Industry Resources
· Quotes & interviews
· UGC & Reviews
· Industry resources
and... your BRAND STORY
Get creative but remember that Evergreen content is something that your audience can use for a long time to come. Aside from the obvious benefits to your audience Evergreen content can be used to elevate a business in so many ways. After all, the reason why we’re even talking about Evergreen content is that we’re discussing how it can be part of your sustainable marketing model. For us, we find that Evergreen content is something we can reuse and don’t have to recreate, saving us tons of time and investment in our content marketing strategies. You can leverage this same methodology to your benefit in more ways than the obvious.
Here are some Ideas:
· Take and save videos and photos of your team and office. You can use this as a B-Roll to fill in gaps in the future.
· Download, tag, and save UGC. This can be used in so many ways in the future.
· Templatize certain images or graphics to fill in the blanks in the future!
· Frequent and Save reviews and customer feedback, screenshot conversation (with permission of course!)
Now you have RAW Evergreen content that you can leverage internally when producing new marketing campaigns because they are still relevant! By doing this, you save time, money, and more importantly, your bandwidth. Don’t burn hours and mental energy over something you can build on with content that you can keep using again and again. Instead, make it a practice to be sustainable when it comes to your efforts and start leveraging Evergreen content to help with the longevity of your marketing efforts.
