Hi there, I'm new here but figured if anyone can help it'd be y'all. I've been searching for the original Key Lime Pie recipes from a restaurant in Tampa called Hops Restaurant and Bar, and the one from Lums Hot Dogs. They were my grandfather's two favorite pies, and I want to surprise him as a gift. So far I've been getting dead ends on both fronts.
I do know that Hops did change their recipe at some point, and essentially ruined it. So I'm specifically looking for the original. Both restaurants are long-gone so the only way to try them anymore is to track them down.

I know after my purple people eater encounter most of you probably think i’m either eating mushrooms off dog shit or just spinning yarns but this is FOR REAL. About a week and a half ago my girlfriend had a strange encounter at her place of work (can’t get to specific but she works at a retail store)Anyway, this lady comes in and asks my girlfriend if she knows about any buffets in town. This of course has nothing to do with her job she tells her to shoo. She described this lady as being a complete land whale. (think the worm from dune). My girlfriend who for the sake of this post i’ll refer to as L continues on with her shift thinking this lady is some average chico fent zombie. Later that night L and I went for a walk and she recounted this strange encounter to me. Just as she finished telling me this, we heard charging footsteps from behind. Thinking a bull with blue balls was charging us we scramed. L got a look as we were running and screamed “Holy buttered buttholes of bidwell park , its that land whale from earlier but now shes naked!” Just then L tripped and the tub of lard engulfed her like a gelatinous cube! Then the crazy tramp started shaving her pubes into her mouth! “THE BUFFET IS HERE” the wretch screamed. Thank god I had a twinkie on me because I threw it on the ground and like a moth to a flame the beast dove for it. L and I ran for the hills but all and all just another day in chico. Anyone else had an encounter like this?

wanted to share my experience as a 28 year old, F, on the very thin side, anxious, and autistic.
had to have colonoscopy due to positive fit test and anaemia diagnosis, and 6 months of heavily bloody multi-daily bathroom trips. I was starting to get very concerned about cancer.
I opted for no sedation because I'm extremely anxious about feeling 'out of it' or not in control of my body/brain or feeling dizzy.
The thought of waking up and not knowing what my body went through was also making me squeamish.
I did a lot of research, I watched full, unseated colonoscopy videos on YouTube, this post from this subreddit was also incredible and explains it all better than I could. but here's my detailed experience of each step.
Prep: The prep was not bad at all, I had Citrafleet.
I prepared the mixture and took it at 6pm (the leaflet said 5pm, appointment at 11am) It had a nice lemon taste and was pleasant. after I drunk it, my medication anxiety/dread kicked in, I was like, oh god, what did I just do to my body. (i've never experienced laxatives before) I was expecting it to be like a movie and to immediately poop lol. I did not have a bowel movement for 3-4 hours. then it was just on and off bathroom trips. Funnily enough the only time it bothered me was I had to leave a competitive computer-game mid-match because I suddenly had to go so bad LOL.other than that, didn't feel too different to my normal symptoms honestly.
then I slept at 3-4am, at 3am I started to suddenly feel queasy and shaky and awful, stayed up too late I think, but it passed and I drunk water and went to sleep.
I woke up at 7am for the second packet of prep, it acted faster this time and then I stopped my 2-hours-before water drinking, was totally empty and went to the hospital.
Hospital: I got lucky, I got a very nice NHS hospital. I had a lovely nurse. They started talking about sedation and I said "I've decided to do no sedation" She said "Ah, gas and air. alright" I said nono, no sedation at all. She was a bit like "ermmm, we'll see about that" haha.
but ultimately everyone was very very respectful of my wishes! they just didn't think I would actually manage.
My heart rate was really high for ages in the waiting/prep room when they took my pulse and honestly I was so stressed they wouldn't do the procedure because my heart rate was high, so I had no time to be worried about what lay ahead because I was so fixated on trying to slow my heart rate. So my advice would be just keep your mind occupied before going in.
I got given huge green shorts, a cozy disposable gown, an iv/canula thing (they assured me it was routine, but I wouldn't get sedation). I had to pee a bunch before and then in the surgery room and had a little blanket put over me.
I had a pillow that was super comfortable and was instructed into the relevant position.
Procedure: The nurses were ALL surprised I wasn't having sedation, they asked if I was really sure I didn't want the gas and air because it can be painful and stopping halfway would be very detrimental.
They said "I know you want to do it without gas and air, some people say say they will and then can't handle it. The nurses also said it's rare someone asks to do it no sedation.
I was mentally preparing myself for the pain of the gas(for inflating the colon). I will say imagining it and feeling it are two very different experiences.
once the camera was in and they inflated with gas. It kept feeling like it was never going to stop inflating. I felt at my bodily physical limit of gas, but it kept inflating, awful awful awful. I can't deny. about 8/10 discomfort, maybe 6-7/10 pain. I had the worst urge to fart that I've ever had in my life. like "If I don't fart I'm going to explode from the inside" levels of bad, which was a slightly panic inducing feeling. The nurses said to pass gas if I needed to, but I couldn't fart. Either because of the position I was in (on side, knees up to chest), the obstruction from the camera, the fear, or because I felt like if I tensed, I'd pop like a balloon.
so "if i dont fart i'll explode & die, if i tense to fart i'll explode & die" was basically my experience with the gas.
Next they said "You might feel a period cramp" and I did. BOY DID I.
I said: "Oh yeah, just like a bad period cramp" And she said "Yeah we can't really help the boys by telling them that" and I somehow managed a "haha"
I think they said "We're going to do some water" but I didn't feel that.
It just felt like just trying to survive and get through it, I was just breathing, I knew I could survive it once I knew the pain I was dealing with. It just stayed consistently awful and painful and terrible. with occasional very bad cramps and awful sensations in 40-50 second bouts in various places in the middle section of my body.
There was so much different noise too from the machine.
The sensations ranged from: Intense gas cramps, horribly inflated feeling, a sucking on my intestines feeling, stomach caving in feeling, terrible period pain, terrible stomach pain, and rippling sensations.
I could barely look at the camera screen because I was just so focused on getting through it. frankly I didn't care LOL. I think I glanced once I just couldn't handle looking on top of what was happening to me. side note: I'm now put off giving birth if its anything like this hahaha.
I fluctuated between tensing from the discomfort and trying to relax. sometimes the discomfort was so freaky and bad my body tensed just to deal with it. If you've ever had a dream where a zombie was eating your stomach guts alive, it was reminiscent of that.
side note: I'm like a cat when I'm in pain, I don't like to show it, and I didn't want the sedation. So I was so badly trying to play it cool.
The literal best way I can describe all of this, it was like the worst food poisoning of your life, the worst trapped wind of your life, and the worst period cramp of your life, all at once, x2 or x3.
A few times my stomach rippled really unpleasantly and I keep remembering that sensation and cringing today
I can also liken some of the feelings to someone sticking a henry hoover into my ovaries.
It wasn't anything I haven't 'naturally' felt in my body before, if that makes sense, they were "familiar" sensations, just not to that degree. I didn't expect it to be such a worse variation of familiar pains.
I also didn't expect to feel all of this SO HIGH UP IN MY BODY?! like the majority of it was felt above and around my belly button.
I don't understand how people say they knew what part of the colon they were in, I couldn't. but they did point when we were about halfway and I was relieved.
For the last part, turn or bend, I think it took 3 attempts, the nurse had to push onto my tummy to flatten something out, honestly, that made me feel so much better, the pressure was really relieving. and I swear to you, it poked my rib when it went through! it felt like it anyway.
There was no pain after that. I knew it wouldn't hurt going out, so my relief was immeasurable, I knew I'd done it.
the only feeling then was just "aughuhguhguh my insides" feeling, and slight gas bloating still. I just focused on my breathing.
They said "We're going to take the biopsies now." I didn't feel that (thank goodness) but I was mega-cringing at the idea. for some reason I felt hot and slight burning in my insides mostly towards the entrance. I'm not sure how they took the biopsies but I heard a tiny drill type sound, and it freaked me out lol. i imagined them frying it off with a tiny saw.
they took, either 6 or 12 biopsies, I'm not sure. it was a strip biopsy, on my report card it has 6 things and says "x2" for each one, so idk.
When the camera went out I asked "is it over?" I didn't really feel the camera go out and was in disbelief because it was quicker than I anticipated and I couldn't believe that I had done it and was feeling proud of myself, and they were all hyping me up so much, telling me I should be crowned as queen and that the nurse could never do what I did. I felt so on top of the world. I couldn't stop smiling with relief.
The nurse called me brave and I said I was only brave because I was so scared of the sedation. Everyone is brave in different ways! You're not any less brave than me if you opt for sedation or Entonox. :)
Genuinely the entire thing felt 10 minutes long, it was like they did a speed-run of my guts, and it FELT like that too lol. just absolutely crashing around the entire mario kart racetrack that was my bowel. I'm just kidding, the doctor was great, it's a baffling procedure and I admire any doctor that does it.
I'd be so curious how long it actually was.. I was mentally prepared for 44 minutes, but idk. I don't want to get your hopes up that it will be short. maybe the shorter, the more painful?
I walked to the bus stop with my mum, I was kind of in disbelief that I did that.
Post-non-sedated-colonoscopy-thoughts
I would do it again if I had to, un-sedated. It was worth it for me to avoid three types of sensations that make me panic (dizziness, sluggish or forgetful)
I'm also really happy that I was able to be there and experience what was happening to my body, personally, I feel like if I was sedated I would always be wondering what my body went through without me being present.
I liked being able to breathe, and follow any instructions.
I've spent the entirety of the following day cringing in reflection of what happened, feeling achy, and being embarrassed for doing it un-sedated (for some reason I feel like everyone thinks i'm crazy).
I hope this helps... someone.
My options of sedation were Entonox or Midazolam and Fentanyl through IV. Lots of people said those things made them so relaxed and the best relaxation they've ever felt. It made me remember the Lavender Liquid dispensed from SCP-294q-01, where they drank the perfect drink and afterwards said "I'm sorry, but at this point everything is just one big let-down"
My brain is immensely neurotic and always in 'go' mode, I was worried if I felt relaxation like that, I'd probably start chasing different drugs to recreate it lol.

First, for context; I was raised in a household where I would get either physically or mentally beaten if I did something wrong. For example, if I were to talk back to my mother she would mentally hurt me, which is why I have a low ego and constant suicidal thoughts. Now I'm an even worse person who gets mad every time someone comes into my room.
My mom believes that I am an asshole and I do too. I also get mad when anyone touches me without permission, causing me to flinch back and make them either worried or upset. I have lashed out at my own mother for touching me multiple times without permission and she tends to insult me when I do so.
I do have feelings, I'm not some emotionless person who doesn't care about anyone at all, (Not that people who hide their emotions are all like that) but I like to keep my bad emotions hidden since I used to get bullied for being the crybaby. My bad emotions are saved until I'm at home and reading, that's when I let all my bad emotions out. Nobody cares about how I'm doing (if I'm feeling bad), and I enjoy that lack of attention; which is why I like keeping my emotions hidden.
I found a quote that perfectly describes how I am in public: Chin up, Princess, or the crown slips. I'm not sure where it comes from, or who said it, but in my mind I'm always saying to myself Don't show your emotions, or you'll face bullying again. I hate myself for this, but I feel I should get over it.
Anyways, enough backstory, I just accidentally hurt my dog because I was mad, but gave her some treats right after because I felt bad. I feel like an asshole because I feel like I mentally hurt everyone around me. I don't deserve anyone who's nice to me because I just put on a mask so I can keep friends. I'm the definition of a faker and I don't get why I'm still alive if I just hurt everyone around me. I take everyone for granted and if they get mad at me my mask just slips off. The only negative emotion I show in public is anger and even when I do show my anger I just get backlash anyways so I always try to apologise either the next day or in the next 2 hours. Sorry to anyone who's actually taking time out of their day to read this, I know it's long. I've been forgotten by my father, who left when I was born; He doesn't even have partial custody and he forgot that I exist, leading him to forget my birthday last year. I'm basically the opposite of a narcissist, (for anyone reading this who doesn't know what a narcissist is: it's someone who has too high of an ego) meaning I hate everything about me, from my mind to my body to my personality to my life. I have thoughts of death every day and I know most people want long happy lives, but I don't.
I kind of just feel the want to get on a private jet as the pilot and purposely crash the plane.
I do self harm, but not cutting, I'll get into that later. I already have the tools to hurt myself. I sometimes pick at my body while finding everything that people hate about me, even if they don't say it. I honestly am a brat, and my mom is so helpful at cheering me up. Lies. She is awesome at making me feel better about myself. Lies. My dad is always there for me. Lies. My life is absolutely awesome. More lies. I honestly hate everything about me, like I already said. I feel like everyone I love is so happy and has a great life, other than this one friends of mine who is going through the same thing as me. We both seemed to have started getting suicidal thoughts for the same reasons. Our grandparents hate us (In my case grandparent) and they treat us like dog shit as if we're not human. We also started having these thoughts at the beginning of our fourth grade year (In which we were in the same class.) The only two things keeping me alive right now is that I'm a fucking pussy who can't act on her thoughts, and that I have things to research that I wish I had. A recent example was a study of skin cancer. I believe I have a disorder called Body Dysmorphia, meaning I see my body as a very disoriented version of it. People say I'm skinny but when I look in a mirror I see something different. I enjoy starving myself, which is one of the only types of self harm I do; The other type of self harm consists of picking at my skin with any objects that will pinch, basically I would use a crabs claw if I got that desperate to feel pain. Pain brings me joy for some reason. I'm not talented, I'm only skilled. I have nothing special to keep me going and I'm a financial burden on my already struggling mother. Sometimes I just think of killing myself but then I think about why my mom would think. All of her friends either forget about her, abandon her, or die.
I can't talk to my mom about anything, because she's not reliable with emotions. What I can rely on her to do is feed my want for my life to end quickly.

Just curious. Pretty sure this happened in '86 or '87.
The story told by an acquaintance of mine at the time to a few of us goes like this:
Someone or a group of people found a bunch of dogs skinned and burned around a fire pit. They took pictures or notified the cops. They investigated and found the dogs and had them removed, and then some time later people discovered more dead dogs out there. That time, they left the dogs there, assuming that whoever did it the first time didn't like that they had them removed. ie. they didn't want more dogs killed.
That's the story anyway.
So my family and I moved away in '87 and I pretty much lost touch with just about everybody I know who heard that story.
Fast forward to a few years ago I'm on a Midland group on Facebook and people are referring to a part of Midland called "Dead Dog Swamp" or "Dead Dog Road" or something like that, can't remember exactly. I asked what that referred to and they said sure enough there's a "rumor" that someone killed a bunch of dogs out those woods. However, what they described seemed like north Midland. Like near the soccer fields I think. Which doesn't make sense since it's not like you can hide much up there.
And like I said, I always thought this happened west of town where there are a lot of woods... But then I started putting 2 and 2 together. Mind you, in '86/'87 there was no Mall or anything up there. I remember visiting Midland around '95 or '96 when my Dad was living there and so I remember there being that "new mall". But going back to '86 or '87... there was almost *nothing* up there. It was all fields and woods (I think some farms, the soccer fields, etc.).
We all lived in the north part of Midland, so that "area" seems like it could make sense. I mean, yeah, Midland is small, but still it's interesting that this area is just north of where we lived.
And then there's this: I remembered another friend of mine confronting some dudes in a metal band he was certain stole his dog, and they would wear canine teeth in a necklace. I always assumed they were fake... but then we started wondering.... Everybody felt they were going around stealing people's dogs. I know for a fact this was all happening around the same time because we only lived in that area of Midland for about a year and then we moved out of State. In other words, all these old friends of mine, all these events, all of it happened in '86 or the first half of '87 because before those years I didn't know any of those friends and didn't live in that part of town.
ANYWAY....
I guess I'm just curious if anybody ever did any investigation into this. I can't find anything online.
PS: I apologize if this is a well-known and well-worn-out story for Midlanders and I'm coming in her all naive and assuming it's an old legend or something. But I really would like to know if the story has been documented in some way.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A woman bitten by a dog in KCK’s Strawberry Hill neighborhood calls roaming dogs a growing problem and is raising her voice to city leaders.
On the evening of Sunday, May 5, Jesse Molina was taking a walk with her husband and her dog Lucy. They saw another dog wandering the street unsupervised. In her three years living there, she’s seen numerous dogs roaming free. She kept a watchful eye but the dog seemed to be minding its own business. Then suddenly, the dog darted at her and Lucy. The dog, which she described as a pit bull and police described as a pit mix, gave them no warning. No bared teeth, no growling. Just attacked out of the blue, unprovoked.
“It took all three of us fighting this dog off and I’ve never, I’ve seen dog fights and this is this was not, this was, it was a monster,” Molina said, clearly still so distraught that she had trouble finding words to describe the moment.
THE ATTACK
She said the dog lunged at Lucy’s throat. Lucy has stitches and staples in various places. Molina has a bandage on her wrist. I photo she took in the hospital shows a deep, gaping puncture wound. She began crying as she described the day and her fear for others.
“It just fluctuates between grief, sadness, profound depression,” Molina said of her emotional state. “And I think gratitude because we’re still alive.” She’s been writing to elected officials. She wants something done to prevent this from happening to anyone else. She thanked her Strawberry Hill community of neighbors with intervening to help. She praised the police department’s animal services unit officer who responded and started an investigation. And she wondered what the solution could be. More officers for enforcement? Stricter laws? More education?
WHAT’S BEING DONE
KCK police said they are already being aggressive with enforcement and education. Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Chartrand researched data on complaints and citations in 2022 and 2023, the most recent years available for year-end reports. Chartrand said the department had a 26% increase in calls about dogs off-leash in 2023 than the previous year. In that same time, they had a 62% increase in the number of citations issued.
A municipal court judge makes the final call, Chartrand said, on what fines and orders to give for violations of several ordinances already on the books.
Ordinances require dogs to be registered, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and kept on a leash. There is an ordinance related to allowing a dog to reasonably place a person in fear for their safety. All are misdemeanors. There is a process for having a dog declared dangerous and requiring additional measures from the dog’s owner.
What they don’t include is automatically euthanizing a dog after a bite. The current steps involve a 10-day quarantine. If someone admits to being the dog’s owner, they get the dog back pending court. In court, a judge decides on fines and restrictions. If no one admits to owning the dog, the dog is put down because the shelter can’t responsibly adopt out a dog with a bite history.
BREED BANS Molina said it’s not the fact that she and Lucy were attacked by a dog in general but the extreme nature of the attack, which she attributes to the breed.
Bans on specific breeds have fallen out of favor in recent years under pressure from residents who consider them arbitrary, discriminatory, and ineffective. Animal rescue groups have argued against them. The ASPCA has said, “Breed-specific legislation, or BSL, is the blanket term for laws that either restrict or ban certain dog breeds in a misguided effort to decrease dog attacks on humans and other animals.” Wyandotte County had a pit bull ban on the books for nearly 30 years and repealed it 5 years ago. Nearly every other city in the metro has repealed breed-specific bans, moving instead to dangerous dog ordinances that focus on the behavior of a dog rather than deeming particular breeds, typically pit bulls, as dangerous.
MOVING FORWARD Molina now plans to move to the suburbs where she hopes she, her husband and Lucy will be safer.
“I’m not going to stay in the city, but I’m going to make as much noise as possible before I leave,” Molina said. “And hopefully it will do something because I don’t know what else to do.”
Chartrand said the police department has been focused on both enforcement and education because, while some are willfully ignoring the rules, others simply grew up with a different perspective on what’s okay. She said the department partners with three outreach groups that hit neighborhoods daily to explain why such rules exist and direct them to free spay/neuter clinics. There are many responsible pet owners in the city, Chartrand emphasized, but those who ignore local ordinances are causing a disproportionate amount of problems.
Chartrand said the number of reported dog bites is down slightly in the past 12 months: 35 versus 42. She added that not everyone is willing to seek charges as a bite victim, and that is an essential step to holding dog owners accountable. She praised Molina for standing firm and encouraged others to show as much conviction.

Andddd I stopped listening to the podcast around the Dr. Pie Laundry Guy but have stayed up to date with everything via this sub.
I have a huge interest in dating culture, human behavior and data similar to Ali and this little project of mine was really interesting once I got the framework of this list. I started this list once I found this sub in December 2023 and started re listening to the Patreon while working out (and lost 10 lbs ayeee) and writing down information in my notes app. I did my best to keep this list unbiased and just give facts and information that was said.
My own thoughts after making this list is that I'm very sad for Ali. I didn't realize the extent of her dating history. I think about my own dating history or even my friends who are in their 30's and dating and Ali's dating lore runs so deep. Is Ali unlucky with love? Did she pass on someone that could have been great for her? How has she had so many dates with little success in a long term partner or even going beyond 6-8 dates? Or is Skyline the person she has been waiting for? What's the pattern with all this dates/men? So many questions.
I truly do hope Ali finds her guy because I believe theres someone for everyone. Until then, I'll be hopping into this sub (cause y'all are too funny and give the best advice) and waiting for Ali to find Mr. Height.

I was just randomly thinking about this since I think frenworld was a rather peculiar era in my internet life and I have a theory about the subreddit and I was curious if I could catch anyone who also remembers this subreddit. I will provide the RationalWiki description of the word Fren.

Fren is a corruption of the word "friend". It is a dog whistle used by a subsection of the alt-right, commonly found on the FrenWorld subreddit on Reddit. The idea is to talk like a small child or intellectually disabled person while still talking about general alt-right bigotry, the pattern of which emerged with the aforementioned Apu Apustaja meme.
Closely connected to the honkleClown World memes, the Honkler and other Pepes can be seen in many of their memes. After the CringeAnarchy subreddit was shut down when the moderators refused to delete posts calling for genocide, many users migrated to the FrenWorld subreddit, which was shut down in June 2019. This word is also used by fans of the band Twenty One Pilots, plus it is the name of Swedish streamer Vargskelethor's mascot character, so check the context.

I personally have always felt that this doesn't quite capture the purpose of frenworld. The point of frenworld was to get neurodivergent reddit users to migrate to 4Chan for further radicalisation. It had at the time been described as "a 4Chan colony" but this doesn't convey the full truth, it was a 4Chan radicalisation operation.
I have frequently returned to this in my mind because it's always been a curiosity of my angsty teen years and was wondering if anyone here actually remembers this subreddit and agrees with my conclusions.
Probably half of the subreddit's users were not from 4Chan but instead were people expressing their identity in a non-gender conforming way in a way they hadn't before and this was to its unaware memebers, was a comforting social community to be part of. I say this because this was a type of community which had a vibe which I would only see again later when I became more aware of my neurodivergence. Yes the subreddit was established and ran by the far right, but I was part of the target demographic and the far right has had a long time sicceeding in recruitment of neurodicergent folks because progressives of the era spent far too much time accidentally alienating neurodivergent people. The Neurodiversity movement exploded in the aftermath of the decline if the 'Intellectual Dark Web' even if the roots were planted at the same time as the modern far right. Before Neurodiversity was more popularised many of us literally had no representation in the discourse and our issues were ignored by far too many progressives.
Especially for young white men like myself, we spent our lives facing oppression and bullying from a source we didn't understand, and it made it easier to spoonfeed us the far right narritive since there wasn't an alternative explanation which we heard and made sense of. That's why the gamergate era was something I easily jumped onto, because why was I suffering? Well clearly progressives must had seemed hypocritical or narrow sighted, where theu cared about other minorities but didn't often even acknowledge the issues our minority faces from ableism.
Of course there has been a Neurodiversity movement since the 1990's and there have been passionate disability activists since the industrial revolution. The difference is the online culture of gamergate was greatly shaped by neirodivergent hands and I will not concede this hill since the reactionary tendency of the online right started in terminally online apaces which self-professed things like autism very openly. The term autist isn't a result of people wanting to appropriate autism, it was led by reactionary autistic people and eventually the word autist became synonymous with the right. There would had been a lot more open resistance to this from autistic people if it wasn't for the fact that the gamergate era alienated young autistic white men, who at the time and still are the majority of diagnosed people. Obviously this is because of the autism criteria being flawed and implicit racial bias around neuro-cognitive behaviour, additionally culture plays a role in diagnosis rates, especially people of atypical cultrual backgrounds.
The point I am making is, Neurodiversity if popularised sooner could had saved so many lives. Neurodiversity saved my life, and I am hoping it has saved the loves of other people in a position like my own identity wise. Hence why I believe that if I ask people here if theh remember frenworld perhaps I can gain more insight into my theory.
I think these questions are quite important to investigate as theu can help us make sense of our lives and pasts. I am so proud of where I am today, and reflecting on this makes me appreciate how far I have come personally.

Navajo Skinwalkers
In the Navajo culture, a skinwalker is a type of harmful witch who has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal.
This witch is called “yee naaldlooshii” by the Navajo, which translates to “with it, he goes on all fours.”
It is just one of several types of Navajo witches and is considered the most volatile and dangerous.
For the Navajo people, witchcraft is just another part of their spirituality and one of the “ways” of their lives.
As such, witchcraft has long been part of their culture, history, and traditions.
Witches exist alongside humans and are not supernaturals.
The Navajo believe there are places where the powers of both good and evil are present and that those powers can be harnessed for either.
Medicine men utilize these powers to heal and aid members of their communities, while those who practice Navajo witchcraft, seek to direct the spiritual forces to cause harm or misfortune to others.
This type of Navajo witchcraft is known as the “Witchery Way,” which uses human corpses in various ways such as tools from the bones, and concoctions that are used to curse, harm, or kill intended victims.
The knowledge of these powers is passed down from the elders through the generations.
The Navajo are part of a larger culture area that also includes the Pueblo people, Apache, Hopi, Ute, and other groups that also have their own versions of the Skinwalker, but each includes a malevolent witch capable of transforming itself into an animal.
Among these tribes, a number of stories and descriptions have been told throughout the years about the Skinwalkers.
Sometimes, these witches evolved from living their lives as respected healers or spiritual guides, who later chose to use their powers for evil.
Though they can be either male or female, they are more often male.
They walk freely among the tribe during the day and secretly transform under the cover of night.
In order to become a Skinwalker, he or she must be initiated by a secret society that requires the evilest of deeds – the killing of a close family member, most often a sibling.
After this task has been completed, the individual then acquires supernatural powers, which gives them the ability to shape-shift into animals.
Most often, they are seen in the form of coyotes, wolves, foxes, cougars, dogs, and bears, but can take the shape of any animal.
They then wear the skins of the animals they transform into, hence, the name Skinwalker. Sometimes, they also wore animal skulls or antlers atop their heads, which brought them more power.
They choose what animal they wanted to turn into, depending on the abilities needed for a particular task, such as speed, strength, endurance, stealth, claws, and teeth, etc.
They may transform again if trying to escape from pursuers.
Because of this, the Navajo consider it taboo for its members to wear the pelt of any predatory animal. However, sheepskin, leather, and buckskin are acceptable.
The skinwalkers are also able to take possession of the bodies of human victims if a person locks eyes with them.
After taking control, the witch can make its victims do and say things that they wouldn’t otherwise.
Once they were shape-shifted, one way that others could tell that they were not a real animal is that their eyes are very different than those of the animal.
Instead, their eyes are very human, and when lights are shined on them, they turn bright red.
Alternatively, when they are in human form, their eyes look more like animals.
The evil society of the witches gather in dark caves or secluded places for several purposes – to initiate new members, plot their activities, harm people from a distance with black magic, and perform dark ceremonial rites.
These ceremonies are similar to other tribal affairs, including dancing, feasts, rituals, and sand-painting, but were “corrupted” with dark connotations.
The evildoers are also said to engage in necrophilia with female corpses, commit cannibalism, incest, and grave robberies.
During these gatherings, the Skinwalkers shape-shift into their animal forms or go about naked, wearing only beaded jewelry and ceremonial paint.
The leader of the Skinwalkers is usually an old man, who is a very powerful and long-lived Skinwalker.
Skinwalkers also have other powers including reading others’ minds, controlling their thoughts and behavior, causing disease and illness, destroying property, and even death.
Those who have talked of their encounters with these evil beings describe a number of ways to know if a skinwalker is near.
They make sounds around homes, such as knocking on windows, banging on walls, and scraping noises on the roof.
On some occasions, they have been spied peering through windows.
More often, they appear in front of vehicles in hopes of causing a serious accident.
It is said that, in addition to being able to shapeshift, the Skinwalker is also able to control the creatures of the night, such as wolves and owls, and to make them do its bidding.

Its supernatural powers are uncanny, as they are said to run faster than a car and have the ability to jump high cliffs.

They are usually naked, but some have reported seeing the creature wearing tattered shirts or jeans.

It also robs graves for personal wealth and to collect much-needed ingredients for use in black magic.
These witches live on the unexpired lives of their victims and they must continually kill or perish themselves.
Skinwalkers and other witches have long been blamed for all manner of unexpected struggles and tragedies through the years, including sickness, drought, poor crops, and sudden deaths.
Even smaller or individual problems such as windstorms during dances, alienation of affection by mates, the death of livestock, and reversal of fortune, were often believed to be the work of a witch.

Another story tells of a man who was making repairs on an old ranch home when he began to hear loud laughter coming from the nearby sheep pens.
Thinking he was alone, he went to investigate and found all of the sheep but one huddled in one corner of the pen.
However, there was a lone ram separated from the group that was standing upright and laughing in a very human manner.
After the man locks eyes with the ram, he sees that his eyes are not that of an animal, but very like a human’s. The animal then casually walked away on all four legs.
Some say they have seen them running through the night, sometimes turning into a fiery ball, leaving streaks of color behind them.
Others have seen angry-looking humanoid figures looking down on them from cliffs, mountains, and mesas.
In the 1980s one of the most notable events occurred when a family was driving through the Navajo Reservation.
As they slowed to make a sharp curve, something jumped from the ditch.
It was described as black, hairy, and wore a shirt and pants.
A few days after this event, at their home in Flagstaff, Arizona, the family was awakened to the sounds of loud drumming and chanting.
Outside their home were three dark forms of “men” outside their fence.
However, these shadowy creatures were seemingly unable to climb the fence and soon left.
These events have occurred in the Four-Corners area of southwest Colorado, southeast Utah, northeast Arizona, and northwest New Mexico.
In the 1990s, a ranch in northeast Utah, far away from the Navajo Reservation, became the partial focus of the Skinwalkers.
Called the Sherman Ranch, the Skinwalker Ranch, and the UFO Ranch, this place has a history of UFOs, aliens, cattle mutilations, and crop circles.
Located near the Ute Indian reservation, these people have long thought that the Navajo put a curse on their tribe in retribution for many perceived transgressions and since then, the skinwalkers have plagued the Ute people.
Witchcraft represents the antithesis of Navajo cultural values and is not tolerated.
They work to avoid it, prevent it, and cure it in their daily behaviors.
However, when it exists, their laws have always said that when a person becomes a witch, they have forfeited their humanity and their right to exist, so they should be killed.
However, skinwalkers are notoriously hard to kill and attempts are usually unsuccessful.
Trying to kill one will often result in the witch seeking revenge.
Successful killing generally requires the assistance of a powerful shaman, who knows spells and rituals that can turn the Skinwalker’s evil back upon itself.
Another alternative is to shoot the creature with bullets that have been dipped into white ash.
However, this shot must hit the witch in the neck or the head.
Traditionally, the Navajo will not speak with outsiders about these creatures, for fear of retribution by the skinwalkers.

SUMMARY: liver mass found during an ultrasound for suspected pancreas issue. Pup is acting normal, eating and drinking normally. No clinic signs observed.
Question: recommendation by vet and internist is to wait 2-3 months and repeat ultrasound and FNA to see if anything has changed. Is a true cut biopsy a better way to identify if this is cancerous given FNA cytology couldn’t determine? I’m concerned about risk of bleeding during surgery if we went the route of removing the mass. I just want to weigh options before moving forward with removal. Any other advice you can share is so appreciated.
Background: Previous ultrasound due to suspected spleen enlargement 11/2023 no findings. All was normal. Pup had also had ongoing GI issues (soft stools) and skin issues (yeast) for a year that we’ve been treating with our vet and a dermatologist
Before a dental procedure bloodwork was done and pancreatic value (Lipase) was elevated 2x normal rate at 552. Previous bloodwork in October this level was 171. Reticulite hemoglobin has been low the last 3 tests 22.6-23 (5/1, 10/23 and may 2023). A GI profile blood draw was done following these results and cPL and TLI were both elevated (794 and >50 respectively). Ultrasound was recommended.
Ultrasound revealed a mass on the liver and an FNA was performed. Pancreas is normal.
Pathology results:
COMMENTS: The slide contains high numbers of uniform epithelial cells which are consistent with well-differentiated and generally cytologically unremarkable hepatocytes as described below. These cytologic findings are consistent with aspiration of underlying hepatic tissue. Given the clinical description provided, the findings may reflect aspiration of a nodular hepatic lesion, examples of which include benign nodular hyperplasia of older dogs, nodular regeneration, or possibly a well-differentiated neoplasm of hepatocellular origin such as hepatocellular adenoma and well-differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma. Evaluation of tissue architecture is needed to distinguish between these differentials.
CYTOPATHOLOGIC DESCRIPTION: One smear is examined and is highly cellular. Cells consist primarily of population of hepatocytes found in variably-sized cohesive clusters. These hepatocytes have large amounts of granular amphophilic to basophilic cytoplasm with distinct cell margins. Nuclei are round to oval, centrally located, and have coarsely stippled chromatin, typically with a single prominent nucleolus. Occasional binucleated cells are also found. A mild degree of anisocytosis and anisokaryosis is appreciated within this hepatocellular population. The cells are surrounded by a moderate to large amount of blood and pale basophilic tissue fluid background.

I had my 2nd bowel resection on Monday. I experienced 2 new things so far that I thought would be good to share with you all. Not to scare anyone, but just make them aware. I had my first and second experience with vasovagaling last night. My bowels aren't waking up from surgery (ileus is what's that called, I learned) and I was finally on the toilet and it happened. It's like I could see, hear, and feel everything but couldn't at the same time. I truly felt like I was dying. I was sweating so profusely that I would've made a person standing outside in a sweater on a hot day look comfortable. My hands and feet felt like they were vibrating. I felt weak like I was going to pass out or implode on myself. So scary. I didn't know it was a thing. Apparently this happens to some people with every bowel movement. Insane to think about.
A couple hours later, I vomited 900mL in seconds and did the vasovagaling again. They rushed in with an NG tube. I've never had one before and was adamant that I didn't want one. I was told earlier in the day if I vomited again I would need one. A sweet nurse who also has Crohn's heard a tube was being placed so she came and sat on my bed and held my hand. (I will forever be grateful for her.) NG tubes hurt so badly to be put in, but I would've done it sooner as good as it made me feel afterwards. It fell out the next morning and we didn't put it back in. I've been okay all day without it, but my pain is back and I'm getting scared again. I just want to say I guess at the end of the day, even though that NG tube fucking sucked, it helped so much.
Sorry my post is all over the place. I do have a question, has anyone successfully overcome ileus and if so, how? I want to go home and sleep in my own bed with my dogs. I've been here for 11 days and counting. I'm desperate to go home.

I saw a license plate while on I-295 in Maine a while ago and I've been trying to find this design ever since. I was never able to get a pic, so I'll describe it to the best of my ability.
The layout was very similar to that of the Vermont license plate: 2 horizontal white lines dividing it into 3 sections. The center section was a hot pink background with the license plate number in black font. The background of the top and bottom sections were either solid green or a fade from blue to green, I can't exactly remember. There appeared to be some other smaller details, but I was too far from the vehicle to see. I was unable to tell what state it was from.
It's no big deal if no one knows, I've just been curious what the plate is meant to represent ever since seeing it. It can't be a default state plate, I've looked up license plate designs from every state and nothing looked like it.

i just posted yesterday about an “episode” my mom had that i’m still not sure what it was. she had a benign tumor removed about 4 years ago and recently had an out of the ordinary medical problem while we were at a store. the only way i can describe it is “aphasia” where her words didn’t match the conversation and when we left she vomited after mumbling and staring off. this has happened once before (without vomiting) 2 years ago.
she had a major allergy to keppra that she was on after her surgery. her doctor told her she would be screwed if it came back because she’s allergic. has anyone had any experience with allergies to medications given after brain tumor removal surgery?
i’m worried it could have come back or that she had a seizure/stroke. she refused the hospital and has tried every excuse to explain it away (that she gets nauseous when too hot, food poisoning, & not sleeping that night). she is on a waitlist for the next avail. appt. at neurology.

A trope I hate is the enemies to lovers trope. I see it everywhere, and I just can’t get behind it. I don’t know if I’ve just never read or watched anything that portrayed it well, but it just makes me mad. I really can’t describe it without this turning into a rant.
A trope I see that a lot of people don’t like is the unrequited love trope. I don’t know if that’s necessarily a hot take, but I haven’t seen many people spread their love about it.
