Tricky Three situation - they've got me by the credit reports

2024.05.19 09:51 GirlOf1000SillyFaces Tricky Three situation - they've got me by the credit reports

TL;DR: Three cancelled my service due to a miscommunication and are charging me for the full two years. How do I avoid the charge and keep my credit report intact?
Morning folks, here is the full situation. I requested a PAC from Three and received it in an SMS with the following information: "If you switch today, the total charge you'll have to pay is £170.92. This includes any cancellation fees and your outstanding out-of-allowance charges".
I wasn't actually trying to switch provider, just to port that particular number to a different SIM, and the message doesn't actually say that using the PAC automatically cancels the entire service, so I ported the number. Three are now charging me the full £170.92, and of course they have me by the credit report. I opened a complaint to Three, and I'm getting nowhere with that. I'm now considering whether to go the ombudsman route, or make a claim in court.
I'm not au fait with credit reporting; can companies basically say what they want on credit reports? Do you just have to bend over and take it or is there any recourse for disputes? What happens when companies make egregious mistakes (which never happens of course)?
Here is the full complaint I made to Three:
I am writing to raise a new complaint.
I requested a PAC from yourselves. I received the PAC in an SMS with the following information "If you switch today, the total charge you'll have to pay is £170.92. This includes any cancellation fees and your outstanding out-of-allowance charges". This message doesn't actually say that using the PAC automatically cancels the entire service, and there's nothing in that wording that implies I consent to that cancellation and the resulting charges.
However, when the phone number was ported, the service was in fact cancelled at the aforementioned cost, which should not have happened.
There is no reason to assume that everyone who wants to move a phone number to a different provider also wishes to cancel the original service; and most phones these days have dual-SIM capability, allowing you to use phone and SMS services from one provider, and data services from a different provider. Indeed, this is exactly what I was trying to do, because Three has the cheapest unlimited data services available, but atrocious phone network service. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has wanted to do this whilst retaining a phone number for the SIM card used for phone calls, and in fact, as you can see from the following information, almost all modern phones, including all the latest Iphones and Samsung phones have dual SIM capability:
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/dual-sim-phones?sort=default https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iPhone_models https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/dual-sim-psim-esim-phones/
If SIM service is automatically disconnected when a phone number is ported, there would be no way to do this. Considering that when any new SIM is activated, it is automatically assigned a new number, there is no reason why this shouldn't also happen when a number is ported away from a SIM, and there was nothing in the wording of the SMS above that explicitly said the service would be cancelled.
There is no reason that either restarting the service with a different number, or just waiving the illegitimate charge altogether wouldn't be possible.
As you can imagine, this unwarranted cancellation of my service was highly disruptive to both my day-to-day and working activities. I am therefore requesting either that the service I originally had be re-instated under the same terms (which is linked to a 5g router and data SIM service), or that the service remains cancelled with the cancellation fees waived. Either is fine, but it is not acceptable or reasonable for me to pay a large cancellation fee for a service that I did not request to be cancelled.
Please respond to this complaint in writing
Kind regards

2024.05.19 07:56 AquaticArroww How to pick an android (Created by the same guy who created laptop compnents guide if u know who i am.)

Display: Generally known as the screen of the phone has 3-4 ypes of screens (depending if samsung or not.)
IPS LCD: This is particularly the most common type of screen for older phones. The most common non oled/amoled type of screen that can do well.
Oled: The most common screen display type today and is Pretty powerful, Can watch some videos well enough. These types of phones are somewhat midrange.
Amoled: These are some kind of screen displays used in "Flagship phones" which has the best type of screen displays by today. But is expensive.
Super AMOLED (Samsung exclusive/common) Is a term used by samsung which has better touch features than a regular phone.
It is clear to notice that phones with Dolby Vision makes the display much more immersive and clear.
Processor: This area is usually marked by Qualcomm (Snapdragon). Or Mediatek (Dimensity), (Helio).
Snapdragon has 8 or 7 series which are the newest and latest from qualcomm. While mediatek dimensity and helio will also be listed.. Listed below are the best 8 series for high performance. (Source provided by Techcenturion)
Snapdragon 888 Dimensity 1200
Snapdragon 870 Dimensity 1100
Snapdragon 865+ Dimensity 1000+
Snapdragon 865 Dimensity 1000L
Snapdragon 855 Dimensity 1000C
Snapdragon 845 Dimensity 820C (Both are the lowest.)
It is clear to note that snapdragon usually has better processors than dimensity, although dimensity has more of them in quantity.
On the otherhand the best performance 7 series are as followed. although none of the helio series has ever reached it.
Snapdragon 780G
Snapdragon 768G
Snapdragon 765G
Snapdarogn 765
Snapdragon 750G
Snapdragon 732G.
That is the end of the processor list. helio and snapdragon 6 series can be used for medium power requirement processors.
Camera Quality. Usually phones have about 2-3 cameras. but there is also 4 of them. Although it is regarded that more cameras sacrifices camera quality for quantity.
There may be features on phones. like manual shutter speed to control the speed of shooting a photo on an area, dualtone led flash for a more desirable color balance for a more livelike photo. And also Dolby vision recording for creating HDR recorded videos to make them more immersive and high quality. The phones that currently dominate this playing field are the google Pixel's and Xiaomi phone series. Samsung s24 and apple iphone pro 15 and 15 pro max also dominates as a king of the field.
Charging speed and battery life: These are expressed Via Mah and W(atts).
Most phones have a Mah battery cap of 4;300 to 4;700+. although flagships may have 4;800-5000 at max. Obviously the higher amount means a longer battery life. Some phones like the oneplus 11 and oneplus 12r may have a day or two battery life even with heavy usage. This may eb different depending on how you take care of the battery.
Most phones have a 15-30watt charging speed at best. although over that are fast charging. Phones like the redmi 13 series. oneplus 12, and the iqoo 12 are dominating the field of fast charging. with 80w-120w charging speed. What may be added are the fact that processors may take a heavy importance on these charging speeds.
Build quality and screen type: these are the general durability and endurance of said phone. Personally the best looking build quality phones are the redmi 13 pro plus, The oneplus 12, and the oppo x6 pro. There are usually metal or plastic displays. If you are paranoid about breaking it. here is the guide of phonecases.
Silicone: These are the most flexible and somewhat scratch resistant case. they arent generally strong but they are powerful enough to survive a fall.
TPU: This is more harder and scratch resistant compared to a silicone phonecase. you may pick this if you want a stronger phonecase that can still be flexible. although it isnt resistant to heat.
Leather: These are generally heat resistant and powerful, although it isnt strong against liquid and isnt that great against falls. and they are rare.
Transparent: for those who just wants to see the back of their phone. it isnt that great. just for aesthetics.
Gorilla glass victus and corning gorilla glass victus: Thes are the types of phone durability that gorilla glass made that stop using numbered screen names.
That is it for the phones. If you needed help or if theres a topic that i didnt cover please reply. although i may not be able to because of my account being made recently.

2024.05.19 02:40 yippee1999 When I was last in Japan (in 2009), all foreigners had to Rent a mobile fone in order to make local calls/texts. Is it correct that nowadays, that is no longer the case...ALL smartfones from abroad, work in Japan?

Hi everyone. It's been 15 years since I was last in Japan (and almost that long since I've travelled abroad, outside of the US). I know that as of 2009, Japan had its own unique cell phone band/network, and so I had to rent a local phone once I arrived in Japan, in order to call/text local numbers.
Do I understand correctly that nowadays, most or all smartphones have eSims that enable the phones to be used anywhere/everywhere? When I went to my local phone provider's storefront, they seemed to suggest that would be the case (but of course, sometimes the employees give wrong information...I tried two different stores/reps and they didn't seem 100% sure of themselves). I DO know that when I purchased my current phone (a Samsung android) about a year ago, I specifically asked that the phone be UNlocked.
If I bring my current (UNlocked) smart phone with me to Japan, do I just need to go to a local phone store and they do something? Or can I assume that my current phone should be ready to go, upon arrival in Japan...that my phone will recognize that I'm now in Japan...it will switch to a local carrier...and I can make local calls/texts just as I currently do in the US?
Thanks!

2024.05.18 22:57 No_Mastodon984 Should I charge my Samsung s24 battery to 80% daily, or 100% every 2 days? At 100% I turn off my phone every night and it lasts for 2 days.

I need some battery advice. New s24+ With my previous Samsung's I would charge to 100pct My normal usage would use 50pct battery per day, requiring a charge every 2 days. My rationale being thay with lithium batteries there is a limited number of total charge cycles. Since then I have been advised to consider charging to 80pct. At 80pct I have to charge daily.
For year 1 Option 1 80pct 365 cycles per year Option 2 100pct 200* cycles per year
What is the preferred method of charging?
*some super heavy usage drains the whole battery occasionally but not often.

2024.05.18 21:12 AgentZeroFox Robotmon - How to Autosend with an Android

Robotmon - How to Autosend with an Android

Most of the information I will be using is taken from the official robotmon developer’s website. You can access the site once you download the Robotmon app>Settings Tab>Quick Start. You can use your browser’s translator to help translate the site.
Hardware:
Robotmon uses a script service to help match a player's touch commands on an android device. Robotmon's developer site has a list that includes all android and tablets that can use the Robotmon scripts.
For this service to work, you need a device that can open the Disney Line Tsum Tsum Application. Android OS 5.1.1 and below can no longer use the application. Android OS 12 through 14 have a security update that can make it difficult for robotmon to be able to run its scripts properly.
Androids 7 through 11 appear to be the best options when working with Robotmon. I personally use Samsung Galaxy A20 which had Android OS 11 as its final update in 2023.
This was my primary phone in 2018. I have now repurposed it to play mobile games on a rooted device. It is unnecessary to root your Android, because of a managing tool called simple service manager.
Rooting your device is beneficial because of robotmon launcher (root) which is available for the Android devices that can use it. This would allow for you to start robotmon without the use of a computer. I sadly could not get it to work on my android and have opted to use simple service manager through pc connection.
I will be going into greater detail on the different options in the guide.
How to install Robotmon:
Download Applications:
  1. On your android device start by finding robotmon in your play store.
  2. (Optional) If you are on a rooted device you can attempt to use Robotmon Launcher (root):
  3. At this point you can also find the Disney Line tsum tsum application:
  4. This is all you need from the play store.
  5. Now to fix the settings on your android.
Android Settings:
  1. Make sure you have developers options unlocked on your android device.
  2. Settings: About the device > Software information > Find Build Number > Click 7 times > Developer mode enabled appears
    1. To unlock developer options start by opening your settings on your device. Usually seen as a gear.
    2. Go to the about device/phone option.
    3. Then find software information.
    4. From here, you will see the build number. Press build number several times until developer options have been unlocked.
  3. Settings>Developer Options>Enable Usb Debugging
    1. Going back to the settings menu, you will now see developer options on the bottom. Turn on usb debugging to be able to allow simple service manager to alter your android device.
    2. You can turn off auto update from the developer options.
  4. Settings>Privacy>Permissions manager>Storage> Enable Robotmon and Launcher
    1. While you are still in your settings, allow permissions to be given to Robotmon and Launcher (root). Go to the privacy option, and find permissions. Storage will be an option. Here you will find robotmon and launcher (root), both must be allowed to have all permissions.
  5. Alternative route: Settings>Accessibility>Installed Services/Applications>Enable Robotmon.
    1. Another route is to go through the accessibility option in your settings. Allow robotmon to have special access. This will allow robotmon to be able to cast itself onto other applications and record. Robotmon does have a record feature that it uses to take screenshots of a players within your mailbox for heart tracking. I will go over that in another post.
  6. Lastly: Settings>Apps>Restricted>Disable Robotmon and Launcher (root)
  7. You can lastly go to the app option within your settings and select restricted. Make sure Robotmon and the launcher remain unrestricted and unchecked.
  8. The next steps will now include a personal computer that you will need access to every time your android auto-sending device turns off or restarts.
Computer downloads:
  1. On your computer find the drivers for the android device you are using.
  2. The drivers installation should be given on your android brand’s official site.
  3. Next you will need to download the simple service manager from GitHub. From my understanding this program has support for Linux, Mac and Microsoft Windows. If using windows, you only have the download: simple-manager-v1-5-2-windows-32.exe
    1. [https://github.com/r2-studio/robotmon-desktop/releases/tag/v1.5]
  4. Once you have downloaded and installed the drivers and simple service manager; you are ready to connect your android device to your pc via usb cord.
  5. Your phone will ask permission for your pc to have access to android files. You must allow all access. You might get an option to transfer files to which you can click cancel.
  6. You can have the robotmon application already open on your android. Service off in red should appear at the top of the screen.
  7. This next step can be confusing without visual representation, you can follow Robotmon's developer site to see the images I am referring to.
  8. With your device connected to your computer, you can now open the simple service manager. The simple service manager will open your default browser. You can press update in the middle of the screen to update the equipment list.
  9. You should be able to scroll down to see your device has been detected. You will now only have to press start. The simple service manager will open a window that will communicate with your device.
    1. If you are watching your android with the Robotmon application open. You will then see the service go from red off to a green on.
    2. Success!…hopefully
Robotmon Application:
  1. Robotmon>Script Store>Disney Tsum Tsum (com.r2studios.Tsumbeta ver65)>Download.
    1. In the Robotmon app, get the Tsum Tsum script from the script store. I’m using the one named “Disney Tsum Tsum Update v65”. Old v52 is outdated, but will function. Version 65 has been patched to have many quality of life settings including opening select boxes and capsules.
  2. Go back to the download tab in Robotmon. Tap Disney tsum tsum to the Robotmon script manager to appear in the top left corner of your screen
  3. You can now tap the Robotmon face.
    1. You have the option to press play/pause
    2. To turn on the script reader
    3. To configure your settings
    4. And to close the service
  4. I like to have the script reader enabled which is placed to the right of the play button.
    1. This allows us to see when an error occurs and what type of error it can be.
  5. Next configure your settings by pressing on the gear
  6. I will have a link to imgur with my recommended settings.
  7. Once you are done picking the Robotmon settings. You can close the settings menu by tapping the gear again. Close the Robotmon app and now open the Disney Line Tsum Tsum Application.
  8. If you are on a rooted device a pop up will appear.
    1. You must PERMIT for the Disney line application to be able to see the other files on your device. The application will not allow you to play without permitting.
  9. Log into through your line account or any preferred method.
  10. Then start the game.
  11. With Robotmon on the top right corner you can press the play button and see it work.
  12. If at this point an error occurs and nothing happens, I will have a list of common troubleshoot methods listed.
I am open to suggestions for future edits. Please comment below if you have found an error or have questions. I am open to receiving direct messages.

2024.05.18 19:39 AspergerKid A long term review of the NIU KQi3 Sport after 2 years, what I like and dislike about it, why I am abandoning it and what's next.

A long term review of the NIU KQi3 Sport after 2 years, what I like and dislike about it, why I am abandoning it and what's next.
This is my NIU KQi3 Sport on the evening of July 2nd 2022 on its Maiden Voyage
Taken on a Samsung Galaxy S21+
And this is the same KQi3 Sport on the night of May 17th 2024 after almost 2 years of use and over a mile of total mileage.
Taken on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
And this is is my review of the ugly Middle Child of the 1st Gen KQi family that always stood in the shadows of the affordable KQi2 Pro and the perfromant KQi3 Pro.

Backstory - How did I even get here? What even is a KQi3 Sport?

Feel Free to skip this part but some people might be interested on why I even got this particular model.
First of all back when NIU first entered the eScooter business they started with only 3 models, the KQi2 Pro for 599$, the KQi3 Sport for 699$ and the KQi3 Pro for 799$. The KQi2 Pro got lots and lots of praise for being an excellent budget scooter, while the KQi3 Pro got lots of praise for its performance. But the KQi3 Sport? It got next to no coverage whatsoever. So what is it? Well it is a KQi2 Pro in a KQi3 Pro body. a single-motor 300W RWD scooter with 9.5" wheels, with the only benefits being a higher climbing strength and 120kg/265lb of max rider weight vs 100kg/220lb on the KQi2 Pro. (HOWEVER, this was changed, originally even the KQi3 Sport was listed as 100kg/220lb max rider weight). Technically there is 0 reason to get this scooter, you pay 100$ extra so you can have a KQi2 Pro in a larger, heavier less practical shell. So why did I even choose this model? Well, I didn't. I originally ordered a white KQi2 Pro for 450€ and was sent a KQi3 Sport instead. Given that this is a higher end model I called NIU about it and the extremely friendly NIU team told me to enjoy my free upgrade, my honesty about the matter apparently even made it all the way to their Reddit team, because when I posted about it everyone told me to just run away with it instead of telling them.
https://preview.redd.it/8khoo2sl081d1.png?width=946&format=png&auto=webp&s=b539550345fa9b9638fa550a6c1506d13e043a38

The Scooter itself

As said, this thing is a KQi2 Pro in a KQi3 Pro body, assuming that NIU did only change some numbers of the website, you get 20kg/45lb of extra rider capacity, great for me as with my equipment I weigh more than 100kg. However because I bought this scooter before the numbers were changed, if they actually did modify something on later batches, I am left with pretty much no advantages. Other than that the build quality is jaw droppingly solid. the Kqi3 frame is heavy yet sturdy. I had quite a few accidents with this scooter and it still works without issue. the most vulnerable parts are the rear wheel reflectors which I managed to shatter both of, the rear fender, which fractured but didn't fall off after I got rear ended by a shopping cart and the front light and reflector - more on that later. What I also love is the wide deck, yes this scooter is so big that it is technically too large for me to take into public transit with me (at least from a policy standpoint) the wide deck especially makes it all worth it, this thing is extremely comfortable on the feet in that regard. However, this isn't exclusive to the KQi3 Sport as the Pro and Max models offer the exact same qualities.
The worst part about this scooter is of course the performance to weight ratio, with only 300W of power on a body that with the battery weighs a whole 18.4kg/40.6lb, this scooter is incredibly underpowered. NIU calls this "The SUV of scooters" but SUVs should be fitted with according engines, this is like an SUV fitted with the engine of a Tata Nano. Here in Austria, scooters are locked to a maximum of 25kph/15mph, anything above that requires registration and thus also a drivers license, which I do not possess, these external limitations make the scooter bearable as the theoretical max speed is barely any higher, standing at only 28kph/17.4mph. In the USA where scooter speeds are not limited, this thing would get smoked by every other scooter out there, especially in this price bracket.

Ride quality

The ride quality of the KQi3 Sport is about what you would expect for a scooter with no suspension. While my central European hometown is rather advanced in terms of being bike friendly (remember, in Austria eScooters with a max speed of 25kph and <600W motors are legally considered bicycles) a lot of the bike lanes are shared with the actual road. this makes the ride often bumpy and uncomfortable, the large deck is a bit of a saving grace here, I can imagine it being way worse of suspensionless scooters with smaller decks and worse, solid tires. This is where the vulnerability of the headlight comes in. This thing is annoying to ride at night. While having an amazingly strong headlight, because of the lack of suspension the bumpy roads keep making it face down, meaning the slightest bump makes even a somewhat decently lit road look like a black hole. Every attempt at tightening the headlight to remedy this has failed, it just is too loose. you basically have to readjust the headlight at the very best every 2-5 minutes. However if you are on smooth roads you can ride it for long periods of time without any fatigue.
Here's also where the scooter's underpowered motor becomes apparent, it accelerates very slowly and decelerates a lot when climbing, and because I am so heavy sometimes the scooter just doesn't make the 15% climbs, this is usually when the battery is low as the scooter loses lots of power when this happens. I once made a climb with only 2 of 5 dots and not only did the scooter barely make it, it gave me an overheating warning too!

Then vs now

So here comes the long term part, this scooter has endured a lot, minor and major accidents, one of them even hospitalizing me, and this did leave the scooter with scratches and shattered rear side reflectors and a broken charge port cover but otherwise this thing functions just like day 1, battery degradation is next to nonexistent. as someone who is pretty heavy I NEVER got more than 20km/12.4miles but then again NIU is very honest about how they took their range measurements (at least I read somewhere that the range is measured with 70kg/154.3lb at 15kph/9.3mph.) so this was to be expected. After 2 years it feels like the scooter is still capable of that, maybe I have not driven it far enough but so far I am pretty satisfied. The fact that NIU's 2 year warranty also covers battery shows that they really care a lot about the quality of their batteries and it shows too. Overall it still drives like day one if it wasn't for the fact that about a year of use my rear tire blew. I found a replacement but let me tell you replacing it was a nightmare of a process, NIU gets an absolute 0 in terms of self repairability here. However the rear tire blowing was a result of my negligence and not NIU's so I gotta mention that.

Pros & Cons

I will make a list here
Pros:
  1. The Deck is really easy on the feet and not fatiguing
  2. The headlight is bright, no aftermarket solution needed.
  3. Amazing screen
  4. Durable
  5. Water resistance works amazingly.
  6. 120kg/265lb max rider weight.
  7. NIU has excellent support, most of my issues with the scooter were solved with a no-questions-asked approach.
  8. Great companion app with an electrical lock
As you can see, absolutely NONE of the Pros are something exclusive to the KQi3 Sport in particular. However, all my cons are.
Cons:
  1. UNDERPOWERED, thus slow and acceleration takes really long, climbing not as good as advertised.
  2. No suspension
  3. No blinkers (this is more of a 2024 problem, back in 2022 finding blinkers on scooters was an exception rather than the norm. But now lots of scooters, even from NIU itself have them. It is a must have as hand signals are dangerous on scooters and other traffic participants won't interpret foot signaling correctly either, this is also why in my country, rental scooters are now mandated to have blinkers).
  4. Expensive for what it offers, still at 699$.
  5. Unstable headlight and front reflector, constantly needs readjustment
  6. I haven't mentioned this but this week I found out that my unit is totally miscalibrated and thus even SLOWER. It started from the very beginning when my scooter said 25kph but my phone only said 23. I disregarded it as my phone being wrong but over time I noticed lots of people overtaking me with their scooters, given all scooters are locked down to 25kph, I thought maybe they flashed a US firmware on theirs. But this week I drove past a speed trap with my scooter and it too, like my phone said 23kph. Given that this scooter is already slow and takes long to accelerate this is yet another low blow and I have no idea how to fix this issue, what to tell NIU customer service and what they could to to remedy this. I doubt that after 2 years they would replace this scooter.

Why I am abandoning it

I am not abandoning this scooter per se, I won't just drive it somewhere and leave it there, but instead my current plan is buying a new scooter once my next paycheck arrives and then hand this one down to my parents and sis who all live together. My dad especially loves this scooter despite all its flaws so him just getting one like that would surely make him happy. But why am I leaving it? Well the number 1 reason is actually not because of the flaws but because of the scooter's weight and footprint. Ever since I moved out of my parents I moved into a ground floor apartment that doesn't have an elevator. Meaning I have to constantly pull up and down my scooter across a small set of stairs. Given that I need my scooter multiple times a day and I wear out the battery rather fast due to the fact that I am an overweight idiot, this just becomes fatiguing. My apartment is also small so the blessing that is the wide deck became a curse. I also would love to have a scooter with blinkers, it was borderline impossible for me to find a set of compatible aftermarket ones. and of course, a scooter with a suspension.

What's next

I need a scooter with suspension, blinkers, more power and a smaller footprint and it also should have an electric lock with my budget being around 600€. having combed through the market, this leaves me with only 2 options. the Ninebot F2 Pro and the NIU KQi300P. I am tending more towards the Ninebot though because the issue with the NIU is that it is even wider and heavier than the KQi3 Sport. However it is a NIU and I really trust the brand as far as Customer Service and Experience goes. But the Ninebot F2 Pro just seems to be the better fit of the two over all. The KQi300P is also technically out of my budget but it is on sale right now, so it is sub 600€ here. If anyone has either of the two scooters PLEASE share your thoughts on them in the comments.

Conclusion

Buy a NIU but do not buy a NIU KQi3 Sport. It is just a waste of money and their worst product. There is a huge reason NIU's EU shop puts it at the very bottom of their page.

I would either save the money and go for a KQi2 Pro or save up and go with the far more reasonable KQi300P, for only 100 bucks more you get a more powerful motor, blinkers, a disk brake for both the front and rear wheel, front suspension and longer range as well as better water resistance. NIU should discontinue the KQi3 Sport and offer the KQi300P for the same price as it. The last words I have are what someone else said. the YouTuber Ordinary things said in his video about eScooters that they'd only last for 2 years. And yes while they can technically last way longer, scooters in this sense are pretty much like phones and replacing it every 2 years might be something I will have to do if things keep going like this. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.18 19:19 Banjoschmanjo Not receiving verification test for Total-by-Verizon port-in, tried multiple providers (Mint, TMobile, Google Voice)

Hi, I am trying to take advantage of this port-in deal, but, although the page says my number is valid, I never receive the confirmation text it is supposed to send when I enter my phone number. I've tried my 'real' number, a test Google Voice number, and even one of my friend's numbers (at that point, we were just trying to see if -any- number worked), but none of them received the text. Any idea what I can do to get that text? I'd like to take advantage of this deal and switch to Total by Verizon

2024.05.18 18:34 hometech99 Was this a deal or what on Active3

Was this a deal or what on Active3
New to Galaxy Tab… was this a deal on Active3?
I have an ipad M1, but have owned Android phones before. I wanted a tablet with NFC, and there are few. For price range, I figured to target an Active3. I saw there were different versions, and read about them online. I noticed that it can be set to no battery mode for vehicle, kiosk mounting, etc.
So I search on fleabay and see all the different versions of 64/128GB, wifi/cellular.
I come upon a 128GB/LTE for $199- parts only… because it only powers on when plugged in. Now I never saw one of these tabs before, how its packaged, etc.
I figured Id take a chance that maybe its set to no battery mode. Offered $185, and accepted.
It arrives and I look at all in the package. Plug it in, on original software, not a mark on it.
Then I see it.
Look at the photos in the listing and you’ll see it…. $185.
Glad to join the group. If these grow on me, maybe i’ll upgrade.

2024.05.18 17:25 cheap_moonshi Can't find exact RAM Model for upgrade.

I have Lenovo T480 with 8gb of RAM but it's not sufficient nowadays. I want to upgrade to 16gb by adding another RAM stick. I know you shouldn't mix and match RAMs so I tried finding the same model I have but the closest module I found has just 1 letter difference in it's model number. Can I mix these as they have same specs?

2024.05.18 16:02 mylittlebleeper Looking to switch from iPhone to Android

I was originally an iPhone user because they offered long support and decently reliable hardware, but after Jobs died everything has turned into a complete train wreck and I can see that holding out hoping for things to get better is a waste of time. So, now I’m looking for a new phone that is specifically not made by Apple.
My needs are:
Primary phone usage: surfing the internet, Reddit, email, messaging, news and maps. There will no gaming or anything graphic intense, and to add to this, I don't need high refresh rates, blazing fast processors or anything like that. I mainly want my everyday tasks, to run smoothly and seamlessly without silly rules for why they can't or stupid things that never get fixed, like the bloody bug that has never been addressed that makes the iPhone calculator app unusable.
I need enough batttery life to get through an entire day, good voice texting capabilities, good autocorrect, a keyboard with punctuation and numbers on the qwerty keys to make life easier, contextual autocorrect (something Apple doesn't seem to be aware is a thing) and for there to be little or no bloatware. I had a pixel at one point and it forced the swipe right screen be the google discovery screen. I would like the freedom to decide what goes where on my "desktop environment".
Basically I just need a good, reliable phone to replace my new Apple phone that sucks out of the box. I don't necessarily need it to be a $1,000 phone and would prefer it not to be, but would also like to get around 4 years out of it before I need to replace it.
I have considered the following: Motorola Thinkphone, OnePlus (any) and Samsung (S series). Had a pixel 5 in the past, and although I lived some of the google features, the hardware, and especially the battery, was garbage and, never again.
Thanks in advance for any guidance and suggestions you can provide, your knowledge and experience is invaluable to my mission to rid my life of Apple.

2024.05.18 12:46 Healthy_Butterfly_56 Date Imprint cap

Date Imprint cap
so i've been using this Samsung Panorama Slim Zoom 1150 for a couple years and decided to add a battery so the date imprint works again. To my surprise the year is capped at 2019( goes from 1994 to 2019)
I can work around it, using the years as days (yy/mm/dd) as shown in pictures(im from spaim if somebody wonders why the format) but it only works until the 19th of each month because of the cap
Is there a way to force a 00 to 99 count on the years? or the imprint system doesnt have the number to imprint the film and would mess up the system?

Hello everybody.
I bought an S24+ from an unofficial Samsung store and after about a week I tried to register the product but I got this message. (The phone name (the SM-...) is also not 100% the same as the one shown on the phone and the package it self)
I got scared that I bought an random international phone and so I put the IMEI on a website to find out where the phone was from, and to my surprise it said that the country of origin was "Europe". I live in the EU, does anyone know what is going on or how to solve this problem?
Thank you.
