Hi everyone.
Some of you may know, but the YWCA of KW announced in March that they were closing their long-running women's shelter in order to the sell the building to develop shelters at a different location. At this point in time, there is no clear timeline on when these will be built/created.
As of this month, they are not accepting any more individuals into their shelter.
The shelters run by Women's Crisis Services are only for women fleeing intimate partner violence (IPV).
Unfortunately that means the only options in KW for cisgender and transgender women, and non-binary individuals who are not fleeing IPV, is co-ed King Street Shelter.
Not only do most women feel unsafe in co-ed shelters, but King Street Shelter is often full each night. This means women and non-binary folks who become homeless due to eviction, fire, relationship/family breakdowns etc. are often ending up with nowhere to go.
All other emergency shelters in Waterloo Region are strictly for men.
I created this petition to call upon the Waterloo Region municipal government to create temporary emergency shelter specifically for cis women, transgender women, and non-binary individuals as an immediate solution to bridge the gap until a new permanent shelter is established.

I (18f) am a firstborn of 3. We have been raised by my grandma since I was born. My mum has never moved out of her maternal home where we also reside. My mum had me while she was 18 and had not joined campus. My grandma turned 70 this year and her health issues are starting to increase. We are neither rich nor poor,,I mean we have never lacked any basic needs nor anything we've asked from my grandma. My mum has been admitted to rehab thrice with no fruits. She runs away from home and upon return she is famished,dirty(sorry to say) ,sometimes wounded and quite drunk. Nobody understands why she even rang away yet my grandma has never asked her to work or anything of the sort. She simply accepted to raise us and take care of us unconditionally. Life has been tough due to my mother's alcoholism but we've managed to manoeuvre. We've had a help for more than a decade who helps take care of the house while my brother and I are at school. On this day, my mum came back home completely drunk and started fussing. I was so angry that I blurted out that she should leave, walk out the door and leave. I felt bad for being disrespectful and letting my emotions get the better part of me. My mum loves us to death I know but the alcoholism has created a huge rift in our family. How can she be helped?I mean it's worsening over the years and it's starting to affect my siblings.

Over the course of my 4 year marriage to my partner, I have arrived at the position that I was abused, manipulated, and functionally enslaved to a mentally ill partner.
In simplest form, the progression is apparently observable. She was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2019 while we were engaged. Due to the diagnosis, we moved up our actual marriage date (our wedding was still set for mid-April) to December 1, 2019. Her surgery was December 13, 2019. In my compassion for her, I agreed to move our wedding date up to offset her anxiety around who would be responsible for her if things went south with her surgical treatment.
Our first month of marriage was straightforward; she was on pain meds recovering from surgery, so the main engagement that occurred was me walking her up and down the hospital hallway as she recovered and trying to meet her base physical needs of hygiene, food, and presence. We stayed in the hospital for 2-3 weeks (with recurring hospital visits for complications).
Quickly after we figured out our marital living situation in her small 3-bed apartment with 2 roommates, our relationship devolved. Specifically, she was irritable because of the pain she was in, causing her to lash out at me with regular frequency for small things. If I didn’t put clothes away in the right place, didn’t anticipate her needs (without her communicating them), or ate the wrong food in front of her she would shout at me and decry me for my thoughtlessness.
These small, critical engagements were wounding and created a distance between us – and there was no upside. She was never kind, never paid mind to needs I might have, and started down a path of cultivating a root of bitterness in her soul. She quickly revealed herself to be venomous, hateful, and vindictive when she felt like she was wronged — and any observation of concern about our marriage resulted me in being accused of being mean or insensitive, even if I spent hours or days calculating the best way to share my concern (and I have a master’s degree in communication where I focused in studying disagreement — I know how to carefully package concerns).
During this time, I worked hard to provide for us, foreseeing a significant time period where I would have to be primary financial provider and caregiver. I increased my income each year we were married by around 25%, finishing our marriage at >$80,000 in yearly income, compared to starting our marriage at a modest $42,000 salary (including dramatically improving our healthcare). Frankly, I increased my income to provide for us in spite of the lack of support at home.
But to be clear: I don’t think it would have been particularly difficult to provide financially if I had an ounce of support at home.
However, the relentless criticism and expectation of mind-reading continued through the years. I rationalized this abuse for the first year of our marriage because of all the excuses to be cruel, she had a good one – she had cancer. I hung onto a hope that it would stop. Contrary to my hope, as the years went on – and our expenses climbed – and I continued to work myself to the bone – she continued to relentlessly critique and even started being more emotionally demanding, expecting me to take responsibility for her inability to cope with her emotions – I was drowning. She was asking too much of me. There was no deliverance from her abuse.
I was exhausted. In the peak of the abuse I endured at her hand, I was working multiple jobs, sleeping 10+ hours a night and napping frequently during the day around meetings and work, then coping with alcohol to numb myself to the abusive dynamic and fall asleep with no support from her. The only time I could approach her sexually was when I was intoxicated, with inhibitions lowered. The only time I could have a conversation with her was with a counselor in the room. Without something to mitigate opportunity for her to be cruel to me, either a mediator or self-medication, I was scared.
I lived at home in a constant state of alert and cognitive fatigue. No matter how I tried to make sense of my home life, I couldn’t. When she looked at or touched me, I would recoil in fear, anticipating some sort of incisive critique or demand expressed. Then she would criticize me for not responding warmly to her, exacerbating the cycle.
I couldn’t meet her needs – I was utterly exhausted. When I would tell her of the exhaustion I experienced in marital counseling, her responses were typically something along the lines of not believing me, denying what I was saying was true, or calling my exhaustion an ‘excuse’. I could interact happily with my friends… why not her?
I did not deny her demands were legitimate; rather, I expressed my inability to meet them because of how fatigued I was. I said ‘I can’t’ so many times. I realize her demands were small; affection, saying ‘i love you’, complimenting her. But it’s disorienting to be consistently berated and belittled by a person and then asked to compliment them and tell them you love them.
The push and pull of abuse is exhausting to a person who is not mentally because it does not make sense.
Further, in counseling I realized that I have forgotten that I have needs. I have lost the tools to even evaluate what my needs might be because, implicitly and explicitly in my marriage, I was told my needs don’t matter.
My marriage made no sense; I was obviously drowning, exhausted with the demands our life imposed on me. I was doing everything I could to get straight. I was in individual therapy, marital counseling, pastoral counseling, trying different antidepressants (4 in total – all with no effect), changing eating habits, trying to reduce my drinking, getting medical tests to see if I had health issues causing my fatigue, and being vulnerable in my friendships in an attempt to invite others in to process and move forward and figure out my marriage. I desperately shared everything I could about my marriage, hoping someone else would crack the code where I couldn’t.
None of my efforts worked. I could not get out of the exhausted state I was in. It’s worth noting here that within weeks of separating I almost completely cut out alcohol, got into a regular sleep schedule, was waking up at 6-7am every day and reading multiple hours (which I couldn’t do in marriage due to cognitive fatigue/distraction), and experienced a resurgence of energy. I have felt the duress I was under lift and lift and lift and the weeks and months have went on.
In retrospect, I was experiencing cognitive fatigue because I was taking the demands my wife was placing on me seriously, but no matter what I did I could not make sense of them. How could she not see that I was doing everything I could to make ends meet – the ends which she was imposing on me? I did not have additional energy left. She would ask me ‘Do you love me?’ and I didn’t know how to respond. How is my work not at least some symbol of love? My dream was to be a poor professor, which she knew – instead I was grinding myself to the bone, working in digital marketing with multiple freelance projects, picking up a bartending gig and a teaching gig on top of full-time employment.
The last straw was when she accused me of abuse. I took that accusation seriously, and weighed it against my experience. ‘Am I an abuser?’ I asked myself. I sorted through my behavior and how I treated her. I came to the conclusion that I may be a poor husband in serious ways; but I am not an abuser. And the abuse question opened the door to the question… ‘I may not be an abuser… but is there abuse in our marriage?’ And the answer quickly became ‘Yes.’
When we were married, I understood that she wasn’t going to work much for a while. However, she worked the bare minimum she could for 4 years, earning at most in a single year $18,000. As the years went on and my income climbed, our debt continued to climb as well. She was still contributing the same, yet spending frivolously on useless knick knacks for our home and a cat. As I packed up our home to sell, the majority of items were dozens of boxes of useless junk she’d accumulated.
She lived a life of mania around finances. We would go to marital counseling and she would regularly express, ‘I would rather be poor and happy than rich and sad’. We were poor and sad. Sure, my income was the highest it’d ever been – but we were still drowning, with debts climbing. At the end of our marriage, we’d accumulated about $20,000 in consumer debt between credit cards and personal loans.
It was traumatizing (and abusive) to go to counseling and be told by my partner she would ‘rather be poor and happy and than rich and sad’ when the factual scenario we were living was neither. She actively denied reality – both my lived experience and the reality of our finances – at my expense. It was killing me, trying to make sense of what we were going through but being unable to make sense of what I was being told and what I was experiencing.
Throughout this time, it is worth adding that she also leveraged my spiritual leadership to ‘set me straight’. I was in a conservative Evangelical space, believing that men are the ultimate provider in a family unit and primarily responsible for the status of the marriage. Because I was not doing what she wanted me to (lavishing her with affection), I was muscled into multiple groups and meetings where pastoral care intervened to restore our marriage. In the moment, I submitted to my pastoral care because of my trust for them and my faith in God. Now, I believe this dynamic was abusive; my pastoral care did not care in any sense for my soul; they only cared about fixing my marriage. No questions around ‘why’ my marriage was so bad were asked; only what was going on and how it could be fixed. I relish the thought of my pastoral care being held accountable for the abuse they exercised upon me during this time on judgment day, albeit through a shaken faith in a God that would enable this dynamic.
With my spiritual community, I shared that I felt like she was my tormentor; that she it felt as if I were on the ground due to exhaustion, and she was standing on my throat, telling me to ‘get up’ and ‘tell me you love me’; that our metaphorical life was a boat, sinking, and I was desperately bailing out water. All the while, she stood at the other end of the boat, desperately bailing water in and looking at me like I was a maniac.
And yet, because there was no adultery, there was no category for divorce. We had sworn an oath before God and were required to fix this.
As I reflect upon my marriage (and the ongoing divorce proceedings), a few things are clear.
She is an abuser. I don’t think she intends to be, but impact matters. She is mentally ill and unable to reckon with basic reality.
She is a manipulator. She manipulated my spiritual community against me. I was viewed as someone to be corrected while begging for help from my trusted friends and pastoral care, whom I now regret being vulnerable with due to their abuse and denial of my reality because I didn’t fit neatly into their thin theological categories.
She is an enslaver. In divorce proceedings, she is doing everything she can to get every dollar from me, leveraging student loans I did not co-sign, my continually increasing income due to my hard work, and denying every claim of dissipated assets she can.
It is truly a mind-breaking experience to see your compassion leveraged against you for money. I had to sit under an attorney proclaiming to a judge that, since I consented to move up our marriage date before her cancer surgery, ‘I knew what I was getting into’. That she is entitled to large sums of money (that do not exist; we never had more than $3000 in our bank account during marriage) due to that decision.
Even apart from the abuse, I did not know what I was getting into. Including the abuse, I am full of remorse for having invited such an evil, hateful person into my life.
This experience has been the most challenging to my faith. As I endured abuse from her, I trusted God in a few ways. That the compassion I showed would maybe be rewarded – or, at least not punished. That my spiritual community wanted what was best for me. That God was not a punitive, hateful God (like my partner). I do not believe this trust was well placed, but am open to shortcomings in my views here.
I struggle to consent to a God that allowed my experience to occur. I’m open and processing in some kind of faith, but I really don’t know what it looks like to find a place to put this pain and betrayal that I’m experiencing.
I am a survivor of abuse, and the abuse I endured was mind-shattering. I sacrificed everything to support a partner diagnosed with serious bodily illness, which drove her to hate me and deny my lived experience because she could not reconcile it with the hatefulness she cultivated over our marriage, choosing bitterness over any positivity for four years, poisoning my well-being in the process.
What I envisioned to be the most compassionate moment of my life — marrying a person with cancer and promising to support and love them — has become nothing but a symbol of pain and remorse. I envisioned a life where my partner and I would fight against the terror of cancer; instead she hopped to the other side, choosing her ongoing health issues as the ally and myself as the enemy.
It took me 4 years to realize it. And as she drags me through court to leverage every dollar out of me I can, my only regret is that I didn’t leave my abuser to her own devices sooner; self-pity, hatefulness, and a sheer disregard toward taking responsibility for anything.
I am grateful but drowning. As we are negotiating settlement, the end is near, and my abuser will soon be unable to execute any influence in my life.

Now, I believe this dynamic was abusive; my pastoral care did not care in any sense for my soul; they only cared about fixing my marriage. No questions around ‘why’ my marriage was so bad were asked; only what was going on and how it could be fixed. I relish the thought of my pastoral care being held accountable for the abuse they exercised upon me during this time on judgment day, albeit through a shaken faith in a God that would enable this dynamic.
With my spiritual community, I shared that I felt like she was my tormentor; that she it felt as if I were on the ground due to exhaustion, and she was standing on my throat, telling me to ‘get up’ and ‘tell me you love me’; that our metaphorical life was a boat, sinking, and I was desperately bailing out water. All the while, she stood at the other end of the boat, desperately bailing water in and looking at me like I was a maniac.
And yet, because there was no adultery, there was no category for divorce. We had sworn an oath before God and were required to fix this.
As I reflect upon my marriage (and the ongoing divorce proceedings), a few things are clear.
She is an abuser. I don’t think she intends to be, but impact matters. She is mentally ill and unable to reckon with basic reality.
She is a manipulator. She manipulated my spiritual community against me. I was viewed as someone to be corrected while begging for help from my trusted friends and pastoral care, whom I now regret being vulnerable with due to their abuse and denial of my reality because I didn’t fit neatly into their thin theological categories.
She is an enslaver. In divorce proceedings, she is doing everything she can to get every dollar from me, leveraging student loans I did not co-sign, my continually increasing income due to my hard work, and denying every claim of dissipated assets she can.
It is truly a mind-breaking experience to see your compassion leveraged against you for money. I had to sit under an attorney proclaiming to a judge that, since I consented to move up our marriage date before her cancer surgery, ‘I knew what I was getting into’. That she is entitled to large sums of money (that do not exist; we never had more than $3000 in our bank account during marriage) due to that decision.
Even apart from the abuse, I did not know what I was getting into. Including the abuse, I am full of remorse for having invited such an evil, hateful person into my life.
This experience has been the most challenging to my faith. As I endured abuse from her, I trusted God in a few ways. That the compassion I showed would maybe be rewarded – or, at least not punished. That my spiritual community wanted what was best for me. That God was not a punitive, hateful God (like my partner). I do not believe this trust was well placed, but am open to shortcomings in my views here.
I struggle to consent to a God that allowed my experience to occur. I’m open and processing in some kind of faith, but I really don’t know what it looks like to find a place to put this pain and betrayal that I’m experiencing.
I am a survivor of abuse, and the abuse I endured was mind-shattering. I sacrificed everything to support a partner diagnosed with serious bodily illness, which drove her to hate me and deny my lived experience because she could not reconcile it with the hatefulness she cultivated over our marriage, choosing bitterness over any positivity for four years, poisoning my well-being in the process.
What I envisioned to be the most compassionate moment of my life — marrying a person with cancer and promising to support and love them — has become nothing but a symbol of pain and remorse. I envisioned a life where my partner and I would fight against the terror of cancer; instead she hopped to the other side, choosing her ongoing health issues as the ally and myself as the enemy.
It took me 4 years to realize it. And as she drags me through court to leverage every dollar out of me I can, my only regret is that I didn’t leave my abuser to her own devices sooner; self-pity, hatefulness, and a sheer disregard toward taking responsibility for anything.
I am grateful but drowning. As we are negotiating settlement, the end is near, and my abuser will soon be unable to execute any influence in my life.

I'm never really active on reddit but I've decided to write this post about some of my thoughts and experiences as an ex-muslim atheist for almost 10 years who lived his entire life in Egypt, I'm gonna talk about some of my life aspects and how they're affected by my beliefs and how I coped with some of the hardships and challenges being an atheist in this society. A bit about my background:

As I grow older and more rational, those things bothered me less with time, I soon realized that it's all nonsense and with time, any feeling that this might be slightly true has vanished, now I'm more concerned about normal adult stuff, like economy, war and the possibility of dying alone....
I've become an atheist in my late teens and now that I'm in my late twenties, the process of leaving the religion itself wasn't that emotionally tough for me particularly, but the difficulty comes from being different in this society, having to hide parts of you from your family and friends is always the toughest part, although my journey wasn't that emotional, I still stuck to some of the Islamic ideas even after deciding to stop believing, after all, it's the one idea that I was brought up to believe, that however faded as time passed and I clung less to this religion as I found out more about it.
Although I was never that open about my beliefs, I've just recently been trying to be a bit more open about them with more people (of course trustworthy people) even if they're not close friends and they don't share the same views, but I try to be careful with the family, although they're not gonna hurt me in anyway, I'm afraid knowing that about me might hurt them, which I find tough, having to hide parts of you from your family, but I'd say try to be as smart as you can regarding that. And of course I try to hide it as much as possible with people I work with, but sometimes some stuff slips through the cracks and it can't be helped, but I don't think it's very wise letting them suspect anything.
I've made some friends years ago who share the same beliefs, or are open minded enough to accept them, but I find my social life unfulfilling now, I'm kinda picky when it comes to people anyway, and finding people who share the same values and who you like is even harder, then you have to invest the energy to build a friendship with them, but I'm lucky enough to have those few people in my life, but it's very hard making friends in this country who I can connect with.
Relationships are much of the same as friendships, it's hard finding a suitable partner in this society, because your mutual values aren't everything, you'll need connection and chemistry and shared life goals, so yeah it's not easy.
How I coped with depression and loneliness:
I've had depression years ago, accompanied by low self-esteem, self hatred, feeling of uselessness, social anxiety and crippling shyness, and I was able to overcome a great deal of those with time and perseverance, some of the things I did was learning new things, new talents helped me boost my self confidence and feel better about myself, even it seemed hard, I just kept going. Realizing my value as a human being helped me a lot, even things as simple as being able to break out of the norm and think for myself is something not everyone does, being able to introspect and realize you were wrong is a very valuable thing on itself, of course everyone has different strengths and weakness, but if you're reading this far, I advise you to think about things that make you special and work on improving them.
Other things that helped me where some philosophies like Stoicism, Stoicism philosophy revolves around that life is gonna be tough, but you'll be able to endure it. Look it up if you're not familiar with it.

The only issue I've had with this is that if I try to post an entire chapter it'll sometimes pause in its review and ask if I want to continue. Sometimes when it does that it loses sentences or even a paragraph where it broke. Now I just do smaller chunks. It'll explain why it made the changes too, so it's improving my grammar as I go. I already have my main characters written up and I know which ones are coming later, but sometimes I want mooks or neighbors, and other times I need creatures. There should be a day version and a night version, the night version being tougher and having more attacks. For each come up with 3 offensive and 3 defensive powers. I strongly encouraged this, since I wanted her to be able to make friends and discover herself philosophically. The church that caught her attention was a non-denominational "modern" church that seemed to emphasize community at least on a surface level basis. However, out of curiosity, I took a look at the church's website and did notice a few mentions of "Pentecostal experience", which worried me since my only knowledge of Pentecostals was rumors of snake handling, especially in the more rural areas of the South. Over the next few months, Anne started to spend more and more time devoted to bible studies and attending gatherings for women at the church. It was on a Monday night when I invited her over to my apartment to confront her about how the things her church were teaching her were actively harming her and even presented her with evidence of how these churches prey on mentally unwell people and how "speaking in tongues" was nothing more than an experience in her own brain chemicals. ive been playing on the better mc v26 modpack with friends on a server and things have been going smoothly until just today. a week or two ago i added a few mods, namely things like create, appleskin, botania, aquaculture, and ice and fire, and that all went smoothly as well for until just now. i logged on, fed my baby dragon and went out to get some more meat for dragon meal. after a few seconds of walking i got disconnected and any attempt to rejoin gets me kicked after a second or two of loading in. ive looked into it and hear a lot that its an issue of rubidium, but ive looked through the modlist and it is not there. i have xenon which i think is similar but updating xenon hasnt helped either. any help would be appreciated, please and thank you !!

Thinking of the business effectiveness and social cohesion of planned religious communities like the Shakers, I wonder whether anyone in the US Northeast at least has set up an on-site community where the entrepreneurially-minded can learn about startup skills as on-site or commuter interns or apprentices, help the more experienced with progressively more complex tasks, and gain the technical expertise and insight to create their own businesses, and get help from others to make them viable.
Formal "education" in the US seems broken and irrelevant, and I can see that if the US wants to roll back labor laws so that children in their early teens can get injured working in meat-packing plants in Tennessee, why not have people of junior high school age and older learn more useful, safer and remunerative skills, and possibly get paid more for it as well? Peter Thiel may have a good idea in paying people of 18 to develop a business instead of going to college, but why not help people skip additional years of academic irrelevance and get them started on their professional lives several years earlier?
I emphasize that there would be no age limit for this kind of learning: college dropouts, salaried job transiters and retirees could also attend, although there would probably be enrollment size limits. I see modern micro-schools funded and organized by parents as a viable template for this kind of organization, especially if people weren't living on-site. I would also recommend that if for-profit, the startup labs/communes etc. would not be expensive for new attendees; I would not make all or most of these organizations techno-hives exclusively for the children of the wealthy, children who often might as well learn about business by working with their families.

I've been watching some old Letterman (1980's-90's) on YouTube, and have been noticing something. His skin tone looked very natural. Also, the color saturation seemed very natural. I compared with one of his shows from 2015, and by then, it was very saturated, and his skin tone was orange.
I started clicking around, watching snippets of other variety/news/reality type shows from the past 10 years, and noticed that everything seems to be over-saturated. Faces aren't always orange (although they often are), but they seem to be a lot more heavily waxy looking. On older shows, even in standard definition, you could see more of the small details on people's faces. Now, everyone looks like a mannequin.
Also, those types of shows don't seem to have the same level as detail as before, even though they are now in HD. They used to have more shadow, definition and clarity. Now, all those shows look so smooth, nothing pops out. Everything looks 2-dimensional. Maybe the lighting is too even. The detail should be more than twice as good as it was 40 years ago, yet somehow everything looks worse.
Watch a clip of Family Feud from the 1980's, and compare to one of the new ones with Steve Harvey. The former looks like real people, on a real set. The latter show almost looks like a cartoon.
Does anyone know what has led to these changes?

A Loose Timeline
- Traveler shows up in Sol
- Humans travel to Mars to meet the Traveler
- Traveler comes to Earth and bestows a Golden Age upon humanity
- Near the close of the Golden Age, two prominent characters emerge, Clovis Bray and Maya Sundaresh
- Maya heads a research team for Ishtar Collective, primarily based on Venus, studying allegedly ancient Vex ruins and structures that seem to defy laws of time and space. Namely the Citadel, although they are also aware of the existence of the Vault of Glass
- Clovis is the namesake and head of the Clovis Bray corporation which is dedicated to pushing the limits of human potential at any cost. Often studies dangerous and unknown phenomena and artifacts found on the Moon and Europa, with little regard for the safety of his workers or test subjects. Clovis and his family created the Warmind Rasputin and the Exo’s.
- On Venus, Maya and her team discover the scope of Vex simulation power through the simulations a small Vex is running about her and her team. With the help of Rasputin, they are able to “rescue” their simulated copies, and then disperse those into the Vex net to explore and study it.
- These copies are released into the Citadel, which is on Venus near the Vault of Glass
- On Europa, Clovis discovers an ancient dark artifact that emits a power he calls “Clarity” which he uses to ultimately perfect the Exos by combining Clarity with Vex Mind Fluid and putting this inside the bodies of Exos.
- Vex mind fluid is harvested from a Vex world called Volantis, on the other side of the portal in the Glassway strike
- Prior to this, Clovis’s corporation comes into possession of an item called the K1 Artifact. Found on the moon. It induces nightmares and insanity in people near it. It seems to be of the Darkness, possibly of the Witness or Nezerac, but it predates the arrival of either in Sol.
- But Clovis does recognize it and Clarity as being part of the same thing, the same network, etc.
- Witness comes to Sol with the Veil to attempt to enact its Final Shape
- For some reason, the Veil is not with the Witness, but is with Nezerac aboard Nezerac’s Pyramid
- Not sure of the exact order, but during this invasion the following things happen:
- Savathun defeats Nezerac, and takes the Veil from his ship to hide it away on Neptune
- (Why Neptune?)
- Mara Sov and the crew of her ship are caught in the crossfire and transported to a place that would become the Distributary
- Nezerac’s ship ends up on Luna
- (or was it always there?)
- The Witness seemingly abandoned its plans for some reason, and fled the system
- The Traveler released Ghosts out into the world who would raise Lightbearers
- At some point at or shortly after this failed invasion, the Witness attempts to recreate the Veil in the Black Garden.
- The Vex are involved but something doesn’t add up here.
- Savathun defeats Nezerac, and takes the Veil from his ship to hide it away on Neptune
Now For the Stuff That Doesn't Add Up
- What is Clarity and what was the K1 artifact?
- Both were in Sol seemingly LONG before the Collapse, which means long before the Traveler showed up, which means long before the Witness or any of it’s disciples would have visited Sol.
- The moon was formed when an asteroid collided with Earth. Is it possible that in Destiny’s universe, this collision contained things like K1?
- Why would Clarity be on Europa of all places, and why does Clarity breath when the other statues that resemble Clarity are still?
- The Black Heart doesn’t make sense in this timeline even before the arrival of the Witness to the cannon.
- Setting aside the Witness for a moment (just pretend it doesn’t exist for now)
- Going by D1 lore, it is the source of the Primeval Minds
- Primeval Minds were meant to bring forth the powers of the Vault of Glass
- The Vault of Glass may exist outside of time and space (is this true?), but even still, on Venus there are Ishtar records of it, as well as geo maps I believe that show it going down far underneath the surface of Venus.
- This means that it was there during the Golden Age, but we don’t know for how long
- If the Black Heart is what prevents the Traveler from healing, yet seemingly had no effect prior to that then that means one of two things:
- Either the heart was constructed after the Traveler went dormant
- Or the heart was inert or unable to affect the Traveler until after it went dormant
- Either way, the Traveler going dormant at a specific point in time was required for the relationship between the Primeval Minds and the Vault to become possible.
- If this was the plan all along, the Vex would have needed to be able to predict the actions and the intent of both the Traveler and the Black Fleet, which were both known to be paracausal forces
- If this wasn’t the plan, and was instead opportunistic action taken by the Vex, why did they add the Vault to Venus prior to any of this happening?
- This also does not provide insight into what the Black Garden is or why a Black Heart would grow there, or why Vex would be there.
- If we bring the Witness back in, then some of this makes sense.
- The Witness seeking a copy of the Veil uses the Black Garden and apparently the Sol Divisive to construct it.
- This occurs after the Witness loses the Veil during the Collapse.
- But it does not answer where the Sol Divisive came from or what the Black Garden is.
- It also does not explain why the Witness would try to use the Vex to create the Heart, because a being this old and well traveled will have known the Vex limitations when it comes to paracausal simulation and construction.
What is so important about Sol for the Vex?
They can build a planet sized computer literally anywhere, out of anything. So why build their sensitive prediction engines near the Traveler and the Vanguard? For my purposes, we're going to skip the obvious gameplay related needs and focus on story reasons. Why is this happening in the story?- There are only three places where we see Vex that the Traveler has not also touched
- Europa - They came through Clovis's portal and largely went dormant after the war there.
- Neptune - They are apparently there for the Veil and later for Soteria
- The Moon - They come through the Garden Portal when we complete the Shadowkeep campaign
- There are some Vex structures around the portal, but otherwise their influence on the Moon seems limited to small physical patrols of Sol Divisive Vex
- Additionally there are four I know of that are not available or contaminated by Vex in game, but that we have accounts of
- Oryx's Throne World - Much like Europa, the Vex were only there because Crota opened a door too their space and let them in
- Volantis - The place Clovis's portal opens to
- Possibly the same place Crota accessed?
- The Leviathan -
- A mind that supposedly ran the Nessus planet computer was sucked into the Leviathan (so much for it's predictive powers...
- The Menagerie had Vex as well, but I don't remember if they came from Nessus with the Eater of Worlds boss, or if they were captured by Calus prioafter that.
- The Dreaming City - Season of the Wish they are in the city, in the tunnels created by Riven
- What's interesting is that, of the places the Traveler HAS NOT touched, and where they are still present, Neptune is the only one where they are doing much of anything that isn't wholly reactive to other beings disturbing their stuff.
- All other locations where we encounter the Vex, the Traveler also touched first
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars
- Io
- Nessus
- So the Vex seem to have a pattern of showing strong interest in converting worlds the Traveler has also altered. They also seem very interested in the Veil.
- Oryx’s Throne World is also a place that keenly interested them, when Crota let them in. And it is also a paracausal location filled with beings that utilize paracausal power.
- Despite Clarity being present on Europa, and having a known interaction with Vex Mind Fluid, the Vex there are still mostly asleep.
- Same in terms of the Moon where there are known Darkness artifacts as well as a whole Pyramid, an entrance to Crota’s Throne World, and a number of Hive running around. But they are not active there in force anymore
- And even though they seem to end up in other types of places, they don’t seem to do much there unless provoked.
- The Vex have known the location of the Veil for some time, yet the Witness doesn’t. This means that either the Sol Divisive doesn’t know either, or they withheld that information somehow for some reason.
- We don’t know what the Black Garden is yet.
- D1 frames it around the Black Heart, but as we can see that doesn’t even make sense by D1’s timeline
- D2 expands the framing through GoS and season of Undying. The Garden is it’s own thing, and the heart was added and removed later.
- Regardless, the Vex pattern of strong interest in converting things the Traveler has also altered, suggests to me that the Garden was probably also altered by the Traveler at some point
- So it seems like the Vex are either obsessed with the Traveler, or they are obsessed with things the Traveler has converted for some reason. And that seems to be why we find they're big dangerous computation engines and stuff like that here in Sol, and why they don't just build them literally anywhere else.
- And while yes they do seem to build stuff elsewhere, those things just don't seem to do much. And we can tell because they haven't just built an infinite forest off in the Andromeda Galaxy somewhere where NOTHING could ever disrupt it and they could compute endlessly. Even the Valut of Glass, the seat of their most arcane and powerful frames, is close to the current location of the Traveler.

While I have a great respect for hunters, trappers and people in animal agriculture who work to improve welfare and sustainability from within, I find it disappointing that many rural people are politically right-wing.
For example, there was an episode of the tv series Wife Swap where a wife from a vegan family swapped places with one from a family of trappers. The trapper family seemed nice and were supportive and reasonable, but they had a confederate flag in one of their rooms.
I've read posts on trapping and hunting forums that express support for right-wing politics and reactionary ideas, such as voting for Trump and believing that white men have their rights infringed upon.
On the other hand, most vegans are politically left-wing, and many do seem educated and well-read.
The fact that many militant vegans have good politics seem like a trump card in their favor, which makes my heart sink.

I’m a 17 yr old female who is ok at art and or creating things so I get asked from family and others to do stuff art related for them a lot. I usually don’t mind and do it for them sometimes for money and sometimes for free so they’re pretty comfortable asking me for art favors.

In March this year, the PET scans revealed two suspicious lumps in her breast which was confirmed to be breast cancer following mammograms and Biopsy in April.
The surgery to fully remove her right breast is scheduled on 28th of this month. The cost of surgery would be INR 116000. This is beyond my means as I'm the only earning member of my family, I make about 40k per month but I've still not recovered financially after the last surgery. The scans and Biopsy itself has cost me 50k so far. Since she's above 65 and already has a history of cancer diagnosis, I'm not able to get her enrolled into any insurance plans which I regret not taking earlier.

Hi everyone! My husband and I discovered a bumblebee nest in brush that a family of wren's had gathered when attempting to create a nest on our back deck. We did not want any bees harmed, but wanted to make sure our dog didn't bother them, so a local beekeeper relocated the small hive to his farm. He did it late at night to ensure the bees were all home.
Today, two days later, we discovered either a new bee smelling the hive or one from that hive trying to make a new home in that same spot (brush has all been removed). We are novices with this, so we thought if we relocated him to a flower-filled area a mile or two away he would be okay, so we put him in our large bug netted cage and took him there and he flew away.
A couple hours later we've discovered he's returned (or we assume), and he isn't happy. Stung my husband quickly when we were outside. We don't want to do any harm to this bee and we know he's just trying to survive. Any tips on what we should do? I'm not sure if he might just leave on his own so if that's the case I'm happy to just leave him be (pun intended).
