2024.05.19 00:55 suhch Long dicography recommendations?

One of my favourite things to do is go through a group's entire discog. I'm a fast listener, and I read the lyrics as I listen to the songs, so I usually get through an entire discography in a matter of week. I do every single album, including Japanese releases and solo stuff, even OSTs, so it's usually a huge undertaking and it's one of my favourite things to do. It allows me to get a full view of the group and what their music is about and it's just so fun as someone who is very obsessive about music.
Unfortunately, I just realized that I've basically run out of groups to do this for. I have done every group that's under Hybe I've done all SM male Idols except Super Junior (because I f****** hate them), and I've done most semi-popular to extremely famous 4th generation groups by being there when they debuted and just listening to their music as it was released (Ive, NJ, LSRFM, ITZY, Aespa etc). I've also done Big Bang, BlackPink and 2ne1 from YG. I also loved Dreamcatcher's discog. So I'm asking you guys to recommend a group to listen to their discography. I'm looking for long discographies, so a minimum of 100 songs, I prefer if they're older as I think I'm quite familiar with the fourth generation, I don't care much for the genre of the music but if you know that when you're listening to the album you skip most of the songs, don't recommend them.

2024.05.19 00:51 Fun-Truth-1134 2 years ago I never had picked up a guitar. Today, I’m in a successful rock band. AMA

Hey everyone,
Wanted to share this story to hopefully inspire some of you on this forum to pursue your passion musically.
I’m 36 years old and grew up glued to VH1 and MTV. Some of my fondest memories as a kid were staying up late on New Years Eve watching the top 100 songs of the year countdown.
After discovering The Beatles through my parents vinyl collection, I asked for their CD’s for my 8th birthday. For my 9th birthday, I asked for an electric guitar. I only had that guitar for a couple weeks before my sisters complained and I had to trade it in for an acoustic. It was way too big and after unsuccessfully trying to play it I put it back in its case where it remained for a decade.
About every 5 years I would take it out and attempt to learn. When I got into my Alice In Chains phase senior year of high school I went for lessons but nothing stuck. When Chris Cornell died in 2017 I ordered a new guitar that night. Again, I gave up when I couldn’t form the chords.
In 2021 I started running with a man named Robert “Raven” Kraft in my hometown, Miami Beach. Ravens story requires more than a few paragraphs, but to some it up, this man has run 8 miles on the beach every single day since January 1st 1975. The run started out of heartbreak after he found out a hit song he had written was stolen from him.
Ravens dream is to have a hit. Him and I would discuss music every run (to date I have run with him over 220 times). We would fantasize about me learning guitar and him providing lyrics, starting a real rock and roll band.
In the winter of 2021 my job was on strike so I had a lot of extra downtime. I decided once again to pick up the guitar. This time, inspired my Ravens dedication, I decided I would play 1 hour a day, everyday, for the entire year of 2022.
By June, I was comfortable playing in front of my girlfriend. By October, my best friend was coming over once a week and we started forming songs. By November, we felt the music was good enough and all we were missing was lyrics.
We invited Raven over, who penned his 1701st song in about 10 minutes, our first single, Digging Her Grave.
Another runner joined us from Haiti and plays bass, another runner from Serbia came over and introduced his native Tambura to the band. Finally, a man named Bryan we found on Facebook came over and decided he wanted to produce the album.
In 2023 we became Raven and the Dark Shadows. Our first live performance was a disaster, but we regrouped and practiced more. We found a studio and recorded 10 tracks. Through my connections and Raven’s fame we convinced Dave Abbruzzese (Pearl Jam), Ian Grushka (New Found Glory), Keli Gunnarson (Agent Fresco) and Dave Pastorious (tech 9) to guest on several tracks.
We released our album, An Unkindness, in November of 2023. To celebrate, we had a show at the Wolfsonian with over 150 people attending.
Jack White’s Third Man Pressing is currently producing Blue and Yellow vinyl editions of An Unkindness that should be ready by the summer.
Our song Dracula just reached 30,000 streams. In addition to our music, I produced 4 music videos for our band. A fifth animated one will be out next week. Total views on YouTube are north of 20,000.
At a recent Florida Panthers hockey game, our song, Dead End Road, was played after the Panthers scored a goal. It’s also been used at various Spring Training stadiums around Florida this spring. The Miami Marlins have it on their batting practice playlist. Our upcoming song “Feel Like a Fugitive” is on the Grand Theft Auto 6 soundtrack, and last year we played Stephen King’s 75th birthday bash.
We are currently preparing our second album. All the songs have demos, we just have to find the time to enter the studio and begin the process. We hope to have our second album released by October of 2024.
On January 1, 2025, Raven celebrates his 50th year of the streak. We are hoping for more exposure for the band when this happens.
I hope this inspires you all. In my mid 30s I definitely didn’t expect something like this to happen, but if you really commit to something, dreams can come true.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the project and the sound. I’d also love to get recommendations on what we can do better, as we prepare for album number 2. Here is a link to our Spotify, thank you!

2024.05.19 00:40 warnerdang Public use if mobile devices.

I’m curious what this community thinks about this. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the minority if people who find it “mildly infuriating” when I see people in public either listening to music or even having a full-out conversation with their mobile device on speaker.
The music is frustrating enough, but honestly does anyone care OR want to hear your conversation? It becomes even worse when it’s obvious the conversation should really not be public, or someone listening to music with “questionable” lyrics very loud while around kids (think the mall).
Anyways not really a rant as much as I’m curious as to what other people think? U typically will just walk faster away as to not have to endure it.

2024.05.19 00:25 meismilie What music or album do you associate with your world ?

For me it is the album The dark side of the Moon of The Pink Floyd. Since then I cannot listen to it without thinking about my world and I cannot listen to it in disorder because my OC’s story follows the building of the album. Also I prefer creating with background music that does not or has little lyrics. It is more immersive to me. Excited to read your responses !

2024.05.19 00:24 HorrorhoundHippy73 Help me find this song please

I've been on a huge qotsa kick lately, and have been listening to their entire discography including Them Crooked Vultures .
I have the lyrics "if you know what I'm saying" or "If you know what the people are saying" stuck in my head and seem to be unable to recall what the song is and Google is not helping. Musically it reminds a bit of Eagles of Death Metal (rock and roll/rockabilly wise) . Also it's not What the Peephole Say

2024.05.19 00:20 keepup1234 Help find pinyin lyrics for any of 5 songs?

TL;DR I've pasted YouTube descriptions of 5 songs below, all by Chinese performers. Can anybody find a pinyin version of the lyrics for of any of them?
(I'm sorry for the long post!)
When I returned from my recent visit to China, I began looking for contemporary Chinese music. I found plenty. And, the performances are spectacular.
The following 5 songs represent the anthem that reflects the emotions that I experienced during and after my trip, and reflect my deep admiration for China, my Chinese family, my friends there, and others who I met during my visit.
Can anybody find a pinyin version of the lyrics for any of them?
From the list below, you will see that I have become an admirer of Yun Duo. However, my admiration is not limited to her. Her singing partners and bands are excellent in these songs. The descriptions come from YouTube.
刀郎、云朵师徒经典合唱《爱是你我》唱出万种风情,高音飙到刺破天际![精选中文好歌] 中国音乐电视 Music TV
云朵 云飞《天籁之爱》阳江演唱会/Love of Heaven

2024.05.19 00:19 see_whit_locked Genius Hidden Line in "Raydar"

I've been doing some closer readings of The Forever Story and I caught something absolutely genius on Raydar that I don't think anyone else has yet (or at least not that I have seen). Let me give you a detailed breakdown of this string of bars from the first verse, because it helps explain the reading of the line in question:
I got the shit you could play for your mama I got the shit you could play for the hoes I got the shit you could sell to the trappers
In Decatur with the 'K and the Colt
I don't think this is a reach at all! JID really thinks the only two rappers in the game that can match him are Kendrick and Cole, and he cryptically reinstates here what he said on D/vision 5 years before. The more I read into "The Forever Story", the more I'm inclined to agree with the kid.
What do y'all think? Can you hear "Indicated with the K and the Cole"? Any other great lines from this masterpiece you wanna highlight?

i feel like the world is dead set against me going to her concert because why is lunch all over my dads recommended now literally i’ve been paranoid all day about this because yesterday night he suggested that we watch the mv and i PANICKED i was like no no no and then told him to go to sleep or go back to watching his house tour video or whatever he was watching and i panic every time he takes out his phone or leaves the room because i feel like he’s going to go watch it in secret and then he showed me his apple music and it was in his suggested songs because he’s been playing the billie eilish essential playlist because of me which is nice but it’s probably gonna get me in trouble now and they’ll know that i know it because i’ve been singing it for ages now except i just picked out certain lyrics to sing and both of them would know this because 1 i kept repeating them and 2 last week i’d repeated “and i left it under “claire” around 12 times in a row and i guess they got sick of it because they both started attacking the lyrics saying they didn’t make sense and even my 10yr old brother joined in. so they would defo recognise the lyrics. i also feel like the way i act around it is also a dead giveaway because my entire attitude changes when the song is brought up. also i asked my dad what song he would claim based off the title and he said lunch and i laughed because i thought it was funny but it’s not funny anymore. i already acted a bit like this before because bbn is on the essential playlist so whenever i hear my dad playing billie i would go snatch his phone and handpick the songs because “i know the best billie songs” but i don’t think it was that obvious. he also said “imagine if the entire family became billie fans” and i was just like 🙂 mmm would be nice…” and i was playing lamour for him and he said we should play lunch and i was like NO and i opened t in front of him once and the first video was of lunch and i turned my phone off IMMEDIATELY atp i think he’s already watched it and is just doing this to torment me. i showed him an edit of it with different music and thought i was done for the day and stopped stressing but he came back from his walk and i showed him some pictures from it and then he told me he wanted to show me something funny so i nodded excpecting it to be a very unfunny twitter post but it was actually the lunch mv in his recommended on yt and said “this must be a sign-“ but i didn’t let him finish i just sprinted for it like my pe teacher would love me if i ran like that in lesson. this was literally a few minutes ago and he’s calling me i’m gonna cry. this is all my fault because i suggested we watch one of her videos together because i was trying to explain the wtpo mv and he said “is it to represent how she’s swallowing up all the black ppl” so i said i would show it him so that he can understand it. part of me thinks he might not care because he actually offered to get me and my sister meg tickets but he’s kind of homophobic like he was questioning the “you could be my wife” line in the diner and i was trying to explain wildflower to him and he said “is she lesbian” while pulling a face and i said no and i wasn’t lying because she isn’t but my dad doesn’t even know that reneé rapp is gay and he called her blasphemous the other day for saying that Beyoncé is the greatest gift to mankind because jesus is. i half felt like saying “did jesus sing crazy in love?” but i didn’t want to start that early in the morning especially after i told him to turn off the morning prayer and go pray in church but i’m going off topic now. anyway i’ve probably got to go downstairs now so wish me luck

2024.05.18 23:20 vampyrical69 Billy Eilish, Bad Guy, Drake, and Kendrick

There is symbology crossed over from the mention of 'wine stained white tshirt', to Kendricks outfit in the ELEMENT video, as well as in Billie Eilish's Bad Guy music video, bleeding onto a shirt.
Drake is known to have been texting Billie when she was underage as well.
I feel like something is linked with all of this, and Eilish's lyrics should be analyzed too.
She also has been wearing red in recent music videos, which has been a heavy symbol in music over the years aside from blood connections. Red typeset over video thumbnails, imagery in the videos and art, etc

2024.05.18 22:50 saltyblueberry25 Tinfoil master thesis on DFV meme-story

This is my in-depth notes while watching the full length dfv meme video compilation by roaring pika this morning.
https://x.com/roaringpika/status/1791834694704591155?s=46
It’s an hour long and way easier to understand all together like this.
These notes come from watching every ppshow this week and taking my favorite bits of tinfoil from the community into one fairly simple look into the story dfv is telling us without getting too deep on possible tinfoil, it’s just laid out plain and simple here.
Tldr; this is a very long post. I think it starts with dfv’s final yolo update (fine I’ll do it myself) and how he’s been feeling for the first 30 minutes of the memes and then in the last half it switches to, fine I’ll do it again and then full of straight confirmation foil that we’ve been right about the bear trap, bbby, Teddy, and baby all along. Then he says we’re all good, be zen and says goodbye for now.
Here goes:
Fine I’ll do it myself, Cat heartbeat, Wolverine mad. (I think this marks his Final yolo update and of course doubled as the hype to start this week off with a bang.)
I think the first half of the movies are all about the first squeeze and how he was both dfv and kitty, how they were talking trash about him, how we found out about the baskets “you move I move” the battle scenes were all about price action up and down, everything was green and red, and the running memes are about the stock running up and sad memes are when the stock goes down.
About 30 minutes in someone asks, “where you been”, he says “waiting”, what about getting caught? “All part of the plan.”
Then there’s usual suspects movie with the goofy meme “I’ll fuckin do it again”.
——
Then Jake texting Keith, is this about our Jake with bbby and the story pp had about the gay bar at the first pulte event? So funny with the guy with 600 memes and basically joking that he became a full blown psycho.
Tell me where the freaks at pump up music. Psyched on us after the meet up?
Guy looks out the window, then the Teddy in a chair (might have just been a response to Cramer being a smartass). Then Hank (Jim Carrey) starts to lose it as the stock price keeps going down, his alter ego comes out.
Truman show, he’s trying to escape, they say “he’ll turn back he’s too afraid”. They hit him with everything they’ve got but he knows it’s all fake. He says, “is that the best you can do??”
Fury is a game where every boss fight feels like the final boss. They taunt you, they demand you get back in your prison cell, they pound you into a pulp and they even make you doubt the righteousness of your own quest towards freedom. But the soundtrack man, it keeps egging you on. To whoop some ass! PP theme music.
(This one is obviously talking about us, I cried because I was so happy when I heard this one)
——
The Bullet one talking about time, cause and effect, “don’t try to understand it, just feel it”. “Instinct, got it.”
Morpheus teaching neo it’s all fake. Just before that scene he says, “you think that’s air you’re breathing?” … “Again!”
Alice says “But I don’t want to go among mad people.” The cat replies, “Most everyone’s mad here. You may have noticed I’m not all there myself.” Neo waking up again in the 4th movie.
Alice going down a rabbit hole into wonderland.. psychedelic music and dancing.
Next scene guy running and falls over, music says “I lost myself.”
Shawshank, they find the tunnel he made. In 2021 Kitty escaped prison. All they found of him was some Reddit posts, tweets, and an old live stream. Investing is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure and time. That and a keen goddamn activist.
A man will do anything to keep his mind busy in prison. Turns out kittys favorite activity was handing out memes, a handful at a time (the dirt for the tunnel). Kitty did as he was told, buffed that financial education to a high mirror shine. (I think he’s been getting ready for something big and these memes are just a countdown.)
Bruce Willis. No, THIS is the Kansas City shuffle. (An advanced form of confidence trick where the mark is aware of being involved in a swindle and believes that he or she can outsmart the swindler; however, this is all part of the trick, and by attempting to retaliate, the mark unwittingly assists the con artist.) Hedge funds are the mark and dfv/rc are playing a con, the bear trap?
——
Pay attention to what I say, I choose my words carefully and I never repeat myself. The cat looks at the camera.
Michael from the office - It’s Britney bitch. And I am back. Cut to Britney Spears - I must confess I still believe. When I’m not with you I lose my mind. Give me a sign (like how we’re always asking for a sign?? (with the alien g from signs all red like a gme logo giving birth). Hit me BABY one more time!
Goosebumps all the papers fly out of the briefcase right when we get like 200 new dockets clawing back money from 90 days before bbby bk. Bear beware… you’re in for a scare…
Then it’s Abbi from Broad city dancing all over the place and she’s obsessed with bed bath and beyond in the show. There’s also the scene where the other girl is dancing behind a colored blanket with the same logo as HBC and then the next scene she’s tied up. Then they’re dancing again.. and naked then then only in shorts. Naked shorts?
We’ll never survive unless we’re a little crazy. The modern investor unleashes the animal within to take on the big city - that’s gotta be us apes?
What kind of person are you? The kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Is it possible that there are no coincidences? The kid holds up a baby monitor. They find a crop circle and it’s two GameStop logos turned in different directions (maybe rc turned GameStop around) and then another one with a long line and a baby gme logo (is gme about to have a baby?!)
Why make something disposable like an investment thesis when you can make something that lasts forever, like a GameStop meme? (It says “Reality” at the bottom of this clip, lol)
Jack Nicholson in the shining (music playing it’s just a matter of time before I lose my mind it’s also a place in ready player one where they have to take the leap not taken, the leap of faith, a kiss). “Make a lot of memes today?” Lol
Can’t stop what’s coming. Kicks some ass.
——
I got both hands off the wheel, the cops are coming. I listen to the music with no fear, you can hear it too if you’re sincere. Cuz I’m a punk rocker yes I am. (song: punkrocker by the teddybears)
Rock ain’t about doing things prefect! Who can tell me what it’s really about? Sticking it to the man! If you wanna rock, you gotta break the rules.
Two cars racing, one plays chicken with a truck and then cut to bojack horseman talking on stage right before they almost crash (stalking horse? Looks just like he horse from 1, 2 switch that GameStop tweeted the minute the stalking horse deadline was up.)
Now you may only see a pile of boring forms and numbers, but I see a story (us going through the dd and maybe holly etlin talking about there’s a story here but it’s not mine to tell)
Listen to this song, it’ll change your life.
(Song is don’t fear the reaper - so don’t be afraid of death, funny because of the cowbell, maybe cowbell is involved in the tinfoil but at the end of the song lyrics not shown in the clip they say: don't be afraid, Come on, baby (and she had no fear) And she ran to him (then they started to fly) They looked backward and said goodbye)
Big Lebowski dude is investigating and finds the drawing of Jackie tree horn and it’s just a guy with a raging erection with the name cohen at the top of the paper. (I think this means rc is ready to fuck)
Jason borne is telling the run Lola run chick he can’t run with her, he has to be careful because people are after him. He says I gotta figure it out. She says well then figure it out. They drive into a parking garage through the wrong way (where it should say exit it says exit strategy and he enters through the exit, parks and walks away, as in “what’s an exit strategy”)
Then it looks like maybe him and rc just waiting and dealing with some bs.
Then there’s the Backstage roaring cat perhaps. The girl says ima stick beside him.
Not sure about everyone shooting each other but someone said maybe because he wrote it and manifested it?
——
Then the dress one “this is art, get it?” Was apparently two minutes after hey Ross and some others were talking about that dress on a space call.
I’m a United States gamestop memer. Aren’t those the guys that go crazy and come back with an arsenal of memes and blast everybody? Sometimes. Price action keeps coming and coming… and then it’s GameStop earnings week! (6/5 aftermarket)
Always sunny scene maybe like a peek into how crazy he’s been feeling not being able to talk to anyone for three years?
He can’t speak or he’ll get in trouble.
Alladin scene (alladin name of trading algo. He also says next time I’ll use a nom de plume - pen name) all I gotta do is jump! (The theme of taking a leap of faith again)
Dreyfus billionaire family (no idea but she’s dancing having a great time)
You can’t handle the truth (code red has to do with a worm/virus, maybe they’re about to unleash something that destroys several companies that are short? And it’s pretty funny)
Beavis and butthead sex for dummies (to me it says rc and dfv are ready to fuck but also cex means centralized exchanges which are also for dummies)
Oceans 11, (theme is a heist. We’re all looking at each other like what’s about to happen and then the last guy is just looking at boobs, seems to describe a group like us lol)
Bernard from westworld can’t see the bear thesis (because in the movie he’s programmed not to but irl it’s because there isn’t a thesis!)
“That’s not a thesis,” pulls out huge knife, “that’s a thesis.”
The gme galaxy on the cat collar says deepfuckingvalue so I think he’s saying it’s still deep value and we often made memes about the black hole of gme absorbing the rest of the market into it so maybe that’s it.
Whats in the box? What’s in the box??? (What’s the plan??? RC not telegraphing his plans)
Guy looks at all the memes - she asks “is it not good?” “It is miraculous.” (That’s us loving every second of this. Thank you dfv.)
And so.. you just RAN. Forest gump runnin’ (gme gonna just keep runnin’)
you go backwards but then you go forwards again… you go backwards… then he walks out of the woods.. (are we out of the woods now? Done going backwards?)
We’ll see. The Zen philosophy story - kid breaks leg, oh that’s bad, can’t go to war, oh now it’s good etc - (I think he’s saying to be zen, we’re gonna win, but this message goes deeper:
We don’t always know what is good or bad. Breaking your leg isn’t good or bad, those are just judgements in our mind. We don’t know what the future holds. Almost anything can be a good thing or a bad thing, all we can do is accept life and how things play out without judgement.)
We’ll see.
Then the boy is saying bye to ET, the music says I’ve really enjoyed my stay, but I must be movin on. (DFV going silent again until this all plays out.)
——
——
He’s saying “we fuckin won fellas! Be zen, and we’ll see this all play out soon enough.”
I think the heavy use of good movies and music and video games may also be hinting at gamestops nft marketplace May reopen to sell those 3 things as NFTs by partnering with blockbuster and some musicians.
LFG 🚀 I’ll see you regards on the moon.

2024.05.18 22:50 Fair-Profile-8367 Artists Who Are Secretly/Not-So Secretly Great Producers

Something I feel like is commonly forgotten in the music listening world is giving credit to great producers. People normally focus on songwriting, typically exclusively the lyrics, unless it's to blame their dislike for a song by their favs exclusively on producers... And while there is nothing wrong with caring about songwriting above all else, I personally have always been one to care more about production.
I was inspired to make this post when I was watching the videos Ariana posted back in the Positions era of her vocally producing the album and was blown away by her skill. She is most known for her voice and I always think her production skills get ignored in favour of it. There is also Beyoncé who is more known for her production but is often shamed for her lyrics causing her to be ignored as her skills as a producer.
So I was hoping we could give some credit to these artists who also produce their own work. It doesn't have to be just singers who produce their own work, Producers more known for their work on other's songs/albums who also release their own work are also welcomed! Could be big or small I don't care just some love for these talented people!
