2024.05.19 08:09 carpet_bathroom looking for recs for narrow roots + breasts that touch in the middle

my size changed and i'm having some trouble finding new bras that fit. my absolute holy grail perfect fit bra was the simone perele caresse 3d plunge in 30G, but now the cups are too small. the wires are still a perfect fit though, and i haven't yet tried this bra in any other sizes, but i’m not sure if they would fit as well because i assume the wire size & shape changes between each size.
i remeasured and the calculator put me at uk 32F/FF, so i tried some bras in those sizes and uk 30G, and just about every bra i tried the wires were way too wide. a lot of them also went too high in the middle. having the gore sitting on my breast tissue to some degree isn't a dealbreaker for me because it's so hard to find bras that don't do that, but with some of them it made it difficult to get the wires high enough to sit in the imf.
the calculator size seems fairly accurate but i think i would sister size down to a 30G depending on the bra because i like a very snug band. i think im full on bottom, full in center, and projected, with a tall root?
here are the notes i made for the bras i tried on:
scantilly exposed plunge uk 32ff - just a little big all around
“” 30G - band is snug, wires too wide
curvy kate hey girls strapless plunge 32ff - wires are ok at the gore, can’t get them to sit in the imf underneath boobs, sides go up super high under armpits
gossard superboost uk 30G - similar wire problem as above, i can get the gore in a good place but the bottom of the cup wrinkles and the wires go way too wide underneath my arms
curvy kate daily plunge uk 32G - wires too wide, cups are weird but i think the cup problem is just the bra
curvy kate center stage full plunge uk 30G - wires go wide, cup seams make a weird shape, itchy
freya daydreaming uk 32FF - band is a little loose, wires too wide, top of the cup isn’t filled out (the lace part), cone shape
“”” 30G - band fits, cups are filled out but the wires are still wide and larger boob seems close to quadboob - still a weird shape for me
curvy kate superplunge multiway uk 32f - probably the best fit, but the wires aren’t sitting where they should and it doesn’t seem to be giving the support it’s supposed to

2024.05.18 07:49 SystemEast1629 Fit check 32GG Panache, Freya, Elomi, Fantasie x2 and maybe a measurement check too??

Starting to lose my mind over here and hoping you lovely humans can help. I'm a cis woman, early 30s, never been pregnant, no breast surgeries. Not really sure about shape but my breasts are heavy and saggy so I guess projected? When I bend 90 degrees and look in the mirror they're definitely full on top, but in real life they seem more full on the bottom because I have a lot of issues with gaping/loose fabric at the top of the cups (see photos below for details), I'm baffled by root width and have no clue about that one.
In terms of my measurements, I gotta be honest...I've measured 3 times and gotten different size recommendations each time, which is mildly embarrassing. Here we go:
  1. Foolishly did not save the measurements but recommended size was 32GG.
  2. Loose underbust 33", snug underbust 31.5", tight underbust 31", standing bust 40", leaning bust 43", lying bust 42.5". Recommended size 32G/GG with a note that sister size 34 FF/G might be more comfortable. I also got a little disclaimer that my calculated size may be less accurate due to the limitations of the calculator. Kinda side-eying this one because a 34 band is definitely too big for me.
  3. Loose underbust 32.5", snug underbust 31", tight underbust 30.5, standing bust 42", leaning bust 43", lying bust 41". Recommended size 32H with the same disclaimer as above.
My number one requirement for a bra is that it ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT SHOW UNDER CLOTHES (including thin T-shirts). No visible edge of the cup, no visible seams, no visible lace, no visible patterns, NOTHING. Other important factors are no itchy lace anywhere and no rough irritating seams pressing into my breasts. I would really prefer molded cups to prevent nipple showthrough, but I've pretty much resigned myself to needing to wear nipple covers at this point.
I'm now on my second large order of bras from Amazon and all of them are underwhelming. Help! Below are 5 bras from this order with photos and commentary. I always scoop and swoop before photographing.
https://ibb.co/zhvsKFb
https://ibb.co/9wPYLms
https://ibb.co/G5RKKNf
https://ibb.co/SP3S3q2
I previously tried a bunch of Freya and Fantasie bras in 32G and they were all too small in the cup (except the one above). Starting to think Freya/Fantasie is just not my jam.
THANK YOU to anyone who made it through that. I'll take any advice you have to offer.
Edit: many imgur issues, switched one of the albums to imgbb instead

2024.05.17 06:30 blue_ella A guide into GLYCERIN/GLYCEROL/GLYCERINE for skin and hair

Please know, I am a regular human, just like you. I am not a specialist, doctor, or a scientist of any kind. I have spent over 2 years in writing this (post has been in my drafts and I worked on it in my free time only.) I have talked about using glycerin and the changes I have seen on my own body many times on here and I always received comments from someone wanting more information on glycerin which is not easily available. (I think it's because of how cheap it is and how its the top ingredient in many products we use, companies don't want us to know lol.) My sources are from medical/universal research libraries that I have access to from my university. Still, research papers are very complicated to understand and takes a long time to get through the whole study so if I made a mistake in comprehending anything, please let me know. Lets begin :)
This product/poly compound does have many names/spellings but I'll be sticking to glycerin. Glycerin is used in vast variety of products like medicine/wound care, food industry, hygiene products including soaps, skincare, hair care and more. Glycerin is stable, nontoxic, non irritating and hypoallergenic with antibacterial effects. Because of these properties it is said that about 20% of all glycerin is used in our territory (makeup, skincare, hygiene) which is a very large portion. Glycerin is also fairly cheap so you can see it in the top 10-15% of the ingredient list (especially in products that promote hydration) or towards the bottom 25% in preventative products.
Glycerin has many benefits. You can look at luxury creams to affordable face wash products and chances are, you will see glycerin in it. Some skincare companies now include a directory on their website to explain what each ingredient does and benefit on the skin but I feel it is very vague and wanted to bring some science to this poly compound. Now the accredited and certified research papers I found available to me are limited on its effect on the skin of humans but are on animals with some following up on humans. I was hoping to include links and incorporate wording however it was too cruel so I will summarize.
The vast amount of information available is on, if glycerin is a safe product, its effects to our (human) tissues, and possible illness/diseases scientists believed it can cause or be linked to. Like I said, I'll keep the animal testing gory out but to wrap it all up, glycerin is safe. It did not have any effect on the reproductive system for males or females and is not carcinogenic to humans. In a different study, a group of 25 human volunteers (22 male 3 female) were tested orally which resulted in no change in weight of humans if under 50 with or without diabetes, unless over 50 with diabetes history it caused some jittery behavior in one human (this experiment was conducted orally and used 3x a day.) Researchers checked the sperm of males and saw no abnormalities comparing it to when they first came in. For the females, ultrasound showed no abnormalities on their reproductive health. It should be noted, the researchers did not compare anything regarding glycerin and its effect on the thyroid but the other organs tested no abnormalities were found. I also found several studies on inhalation and applying glycerin on eyes was normal in sense nothing will happen other than some irritation that subsides, on animals. Same study then compared their findings on a group of humans and only a couple of people from the testing group reported it caused mild or moderate irritation that lasted for little while. To conclude, there are no known side effects or illness caused or linked to by usage of glycerin. Still, after immense testing it is recommended to patch test glycerin even if being allergic to glycerin is considered rare according to researchers.
In skin/hair care, glycerin is a humectant (retaining or preserving moisture) and an emollient (quality of softening or smoothing of the skin). Meaning a moisturizing agent that draws water to the surface of the dermis from the atmosphere or from layers deep in your skin/hair; brighten and soften the dermis and hair at the same time This said, using glycerin in low humidity or dry, hot air can result in drying out your dermis (skin) or hair, including the scalp because it is pulling moisture deep in your dermis or hair. (Personal note: if you wish to use glycerin in locations or seasons where the air is dry, it is best to keep spritzing the area with a mist of just water, preferably distilled, or other hydration mist to prevent the glycerin pulling any to all moisture from your dermis which could result in flaky, dry skin or brassy, frizzy hair strands. I believe after immense research this is the only downside of glycerin).
Glycerin is also considered as a thickener for products and is mildly antibacterial and antiviral. Glycerin was originally found from lipids of animals (animal fat) but now can be extracted from plants (vegan) like shea butter, palm oil, coconut oil and more. As of today, glycerin from oil has a high extraction rate from palm. Glycerin can also be formed synthetically through fermentation, bio-diesel or chemically created with its chemical compound ( C3H8O3; Carbon 3 Hydrogen 8 Oxygen 3) (Personal note: I am including this because when purchasing you glycerin, be sure on where and how it was extracted as you will be applying it on your dermis or hair.) Glycerin is non-comedogenic, meaning it will not clog your pores, but reading the different studies I believe there is a difference between lab, plant, and animal lipid created glycerin. Some prefer the animal glycerin as its more suitable to their skin type but majority of the glycerin in our market is from plants or lab. You can tell the difference of glycerin by how tacky it is. Animal glycerin is most tacky (sticky like tree sap) compared to the plant glycerin followed by lab created which only has a slight slip to it.
The density of glycerin (1.26g/cm^3) is lower than the density of our skin(1.1g/cm^3) which allows glycerin to penetrate deeper than a lot of other products. Whereas hyaluronic acid (varies but avg. density is around 1.8g/cm^3) may look to be better way to go around but both have their benefits! Glycerin is better suitable when you want your skin or scalp to hold moisture on your skin. HA is suitable if you want to lock in the moisture. But what makes them very different is the molecular level. Glycerin has a smaller molecular level than HA, which in return allows the glycerin to saturate deeper in your dermis or hair strands whereas HA sits on the top 2 layers (about). So using HA on your skin can mean it can take longer to see the visual results on your skin. That said with either or, consistency is important to unlock all the benefits either product can offer.
Glycerin is beneficial to all skin types, most hair types, and help aid in various skin or scalp conditions (if you have a medical condition please consult a doctor or dermatologist.) From brightening the dermis by help healing old scars and smoothing out hyperpigmentation, to being a natural prevention of many skin imperfections glycerin is the most underrated, versatile, and affordable product all should have in their cupboards. Glycerin will hold onto the water keeping your face soft and smooth (like a newborn babies bum) for long periods of time. (On study showed if glycerin is not washed from the dermis or hair, glycerin can last upto 6 days on the area applied hydrating the top layer of skin. In this study the researchers had 3 groups, 1 controlled, 1 glycerin applied only(group1), 1 glycerin applied with misting water every 6 hours(group2) for 14 days. From control- the group had natural oil build up, group1 had dry almost chapped skin, group2 felt dry to touch, some shine-no oil, bounce on dermis.) It is not recommended to keep glycerin on for this long as glycerin can attract pollutants from settling into pores-it just sits on surface of skin.
In the process of applying glycerin consistently, it will boost collagen production, even out your skin tone from blemishes to hyperpigmentation, aiding in the prevention of acne bacteria spreading on your dermis (help with clearing back acne), clearing and hydrating pores for the prevention of black or white heads, smooth skin texture and premature aging lines. Glycerin may act as a mild natural sunscreen by protecting the skin from the sun's rays and environmental pollutants, including smog. For acne, glycerin can help prevent the bacteria from spreading and help heal and smooth old acne spots. On large open pores, because of its density, glycerin can settle into pores reducing the visual size of them and help clear out any dirt or imperfections.
Glycerin on your scalp can be a natural/soft treatment for dandruff or other scalp dryness. For your hair strands, mixing it with our ayurvedic hair masks or hair oil, you can condition any damaged hair strands, preventing further breakage (split ends), and adding strength to protect against harmful rays of the sun and hot tools. The benefits of glycerin on our bodies are endless but here are a couple other ways to include glycerin when in a pinch.
Remember we discussed how glycerin is a humectant, emollient, and thickener? Well, this is what many of us expect from a makeup primer. I have used a glycerin primer for when I wanted a quick everyday makeup look or when I misplaced my holy grail benefit POREfessional primer. I used it in 2 ways, One was mixing a drop of glycerin into my moisturizer or my foundation. The other was my standard rose water and glycerin spray bottle. With the rose water I did notice I had to make sure the water and glycerin was well set into my face. I use a damp sponge to press any glycerin sitting on my face deep into my pores before applying foundation to avoid any separation or caking. (If you want an airbrush look; try this method then after dabbing your face with the sponge, apply a thin, even layer of finely milled translucent powder.) Why you may ask do this extra step of dabbing? Well using glycerin in a liquid format like the rose water is also an effective makeup remover! Crazy how it can work both ways.
If you pull out any micellar water you may have, the first 2 ingredients are water and glycerin followed by additives to act as mild surfactants and unwanted possible ingredients alcohol, fragrance, preservatives. Surfactant is a substance that will help the water and glycerin chemical properties mix when dissolved together. Sometimes when you let the micellar water sit you see a layer of liquid settle on top of another layer and you have to mix the two, right? The surfactant is the ingredient that leaves that oily feel on the face and I believe blends the glycerin chemical with the surfactant to create a less tacky formula. It will be different brand to brand based on how they source their glycerin and the ratios. That said, after my full beat, spraying a setting spray and all, I experimented to see how the rose wateglycerin will react with my full face of makeup if I just wanted to rehydrate my face with the same mixture. I spray till my face feels nicely hydrated, let that fully dry with help of a fan or my hands, then with a dry sponge, I lightly tap the glycerin back into my dermis and if needed, powder to set any makeup separation or fading.
The only time I dealt with makeup reacting with the glycerin was when my makeup began pilling from mixing silicone and water based skincare products with foundation.
From my journey: I saw some posts of users using and not having benefactual results so I'd like to inform you how I personally started using glycerin and the changes on my own skin. I remember stumbling on a random Instagram account of Farah Dhukai from Farsali using glycerin back in 2016 and I decided to copy the recipe to lighten dark skin. After following her instructions and started to use her recipes very often, it was not long before I had all family reunions turn into skincare nights. I would make custom masks for my cousins and aunts based on their skin concerns and I would receive endless compliments and discussions on how my skin as a 15 year old teenager looked amazing. It was not long until I connected the dots and started researching extensively into glycerin.
At that time, I didn't even have access to these studies and research papers, many were released after 2016! I found another ayurvedic Instagram account (now deactivated) and found my first recipe for rose water and glycerin and we have been going strong ever since. I started off with about 1 cup of fresh/homemade rose water to 1 tablespoon of glycerin. I originally started using this as a toner. I suffer from acanthosis nigricans (thickedry/dark skin on back of neck, elbows, armpits, knees) I would drench a cotton pad and hold the serum onto my skin for 5 seconds before moving it. I would repeat this then go over the same parts on my skin in circular motions. After about 4-6 months I had reduced the appearance on my elbows and knees to about 90% (only small dryness patch was left) my neck still had the thickness of skin but the darkness had reduced significantly and started blending in with my natural skin. Armpits were about 40% lighter but after a year of consistent use I was very happy with my results. Now it is important to mention, skin care can only carry so much; during this time of using the toner I lost about 23 kgs which helped clear the inflammation causing the dark skin in the first place.
Along with this toner I only used a light moisturizer and face wash; no SPF, facial scrubs, or actives. My skin was very clear, bright, hyperpigmentation free. Then life hit me with a ton of bricks and depression set in. I gave up skincare and my skin was terrible. Pores, pigmentation, fungal acne and stubborn blackheads on forehead and chin, extremely flaky/irritated cheeks. At this point I had been using glycerin for over 3-4 years so I upped the ratio I mix about 1:4 ratio of glycerin to rosewater now and put it in a spray bottle. I would start by double cleanse my face, use vitamin C serum and drench my face with the glycerin water before bedtime daily (about 1-2 hours before) let it settle then use my fingers to give myself a soft facial massage and help the remaining dripping water settle into my skin or slide it down my neck and chest. Then before bedtime, I splash my face with just cool water and remove the glycerin sitting on top of my skin. Gently dry my face and apply my nightly moisturizer with retinol, let that settle then spray 4x of the glycerin water again, finish with some lip mask and go to sleep.
From researching and experimenting, this was best way to clear out my white/black heads. The glycerin made them soft and I did not have to include any active or harsh scrubs or facial tools to pick them out. I found mixing the vitamin C with the glycerin 2 hours before helped tremendously with my hyperpigmentation and left my face glowing and added a beautiful bounce! I now only use a soft facial scrub that was marked to be safe for daily use once a week only. In the mornings, I thoroughly wash your face with some cleanser and apply a light moisturizer and SPF. My skin has gotten significantly brighter and has the glass skin effect without using multiple actives and products. Reason I don't apply it the rosewater glycerin in morning is because we are having dry weather and my schedule is unpredictable to remember to spray a hydrating spray in between wear.
For my scalp psoriasis, I used the same toner product just in different ratios and it helped significantly. Only thing about glycerin and your scalp/hair strands is you do not want to dry it out. I only kept it on for about 30 minutes before I shower. I do have thin/pin-straight hair but my ends just felt so much healthier. One research entry mentioned how glycerin was very benefactural to animals with dense fur. So if you have textured(wavy/curly) or coarse(thick) hair definitely try glycerin out on yourself! Im sure it will help your curls be more defined and healthy! Glycerin helps strengthen the hair follicles and strands to prevent breakage, leading to the illusion of faster-longer growing hair. (I have to trim my hair about 3x a year. Each time I trim about 4 inches off. Sometimes I mix the glycerin and rose water in my hair oil concoctions. I feel this allows the oil to penetrate in even deeper. The oil doesn't sit on the stands but absorbs faster which I always struggled with. It leaves my hair so soft/supple, helps my brittle ends when I'm past due for a trim or from heat damage. In the case I add the glycerin into the oil and I wish to keep the oil on longer, I spray my hair with regular distilled water only to keep the moisture constant for the glycerin so it doesn't suck the water out of the strands.
Here are a couple ratios you can start to experiment with:
NOTES: If you believe glycerin and rosewater is not the combination for you, you can mix glycerin with aloe, powders/herbs, moisturizers, and more. Be sure to research the product you will be mixing with and always patch test to ensure a chemical change will not take negative effect on your skin. Reason why I mix with rosewater is because when mixing with other products, remember glycerin is also a thickener, so it can feel very heavy on the face. Whereas water dilutes it and feels comfortable to wear for all day or night.
NOTES: I know my oily and acne girls are always fighting for their life. If you try this and are struggling, keep adjusting the formula and trust the process. It may feel nothing is happening or too much is happening but if you can, stay consistent for 6 weeks before you call it quits.
NOTES: ( NSFW but IMPORTANT!) Please do not apply glycerin on or near your genitalia! Glycerin is a type of carbohydrate known as a sugar alcohol. The breakdown of glycerin with our natural bacteria will turn it into an irritant creating a risk of a yeast infection!

2024.05.16 13:59 blunderpolicyy Can estrogen and spironolactone cause itching? (MTF, 21, 4 months transitioning)

I have been itchy almost everywhere for the last few weeks, sometimes scratching to the point of accidentally cutting my skin, and have never once dealt with allergies. My diet has not changed. I went picnicking once in a forest but am also itchy in places that were fully concealed. Hive like bumps under my armpits. Transition has been fantastic otherwise. Could this be a result of the medication?

My dog about a year ago got this small black scab under his armpit that we thought would go away. But it hasn’t and it’s been a year. It falls off and comes back and it’s grown a little bit bigger. It dosent seem to bother him or be itchy so we have been wondering what it is.

2024.05.14 18:06 AfternoonChoice1438 Discoloration under chest fold

So i have my surgery date June 11th (very excited!!) But I have a concern about my chest.
I have a large chest that sags. The skin under my chest fold is discolored and looks about 2 shades darker than my normal skin color. I try to clean under the fold everyday, tried to use baby powder to keep it dry, even tried using antifungal cream as well as dandruff shampoo on the area. However, it's still discolored after a month of all of my attempts of treating it. It's not itchy, inflamed, or flaky, just discolored. It's only discolored under that fold, nowhere else on my chest.
Do you think that this discoloration will affect my surgery or the results of my surgery? Or will it go away on its own after?

2024.05.14 15:18 LCC16 My dog has yeasty feet-any tips?

Disclaimer: he sees a vet regularly and the vet has looked at his feet, he said it’s nothing to be concerned about. It has gotten worse since then and I will bring it up again next time we see him, but if anyone has any advice in the meantime I’d appreciate it!
I have a miniature schnauzer named Howie. He has pretty bad allergy issues and takes apoquel which helps, but we’ve always had trouble with his feet. They smell yeasty, and he has crusty, flaky skin between his toes on the tops of his feet. When it gets especially bad he’ll have large skin flakes start to accumulate and I try to keep it cleaned out so it doesn’t build up but he doesn’t like me messing with his toes, they are pretty sensitive.
Does anyone have any tips for how to keep the irritation/itchiness down, or anything I can tell the vet to get it treated properly? Thank you!
Edit after checking the FAQ: I know for a fact it isn’t anything serious. Howie has a history of melanoma and early heart disease, so he has had every blood test under the sun within the past 4 months. He has had this issue for years, it just seems to be getting progressively worse as he ages.

2024.05.13 23:04 throw_google_help skin issues with trans tape

ive been binding with KT tape for years, and i swapped to trans tape a couple months ago. im much happier with it, but im dealing with some skin irritation and issues with it.
firstly: i dont think im allergic to it, cause i did a test patch with no issues, and i didnt have any issues for two or three months. recently though, my skin gets dry and itchy beneath my tape, almost like chafing? some raw, some dry and flaky. its like this kind of stabbing itch, i dont know how to describe it but its really irritating. i take good care of my skin between binding, and take a couple days off etc. but its very present.
second: occasionally, my nipples get this white crud on them under my nipple covers. its not pus, and theres no pain or irritation, but sometimes slight sensitivity. best think i can liken it to is like having a cruddy gauge, its not like foul, but its a little icky buildup. not highly concerning but a little weird.
curious if anyone else experiences these/has solutions or advice/if these are relatively normal.

2024.05.13 16:55 Ok_Meet_ I drink almost 3L water everyday and yet my body shows signs of dehydration

I drink almost 3L water everyday and yet my body shows signs of dehydration
I'm a 21 year old woman. I am probably 64kg and 5ft2. I don't smoke and don't do drugs. Drink alcohol occasionally. I live in south Africa and I'm indian. I have no allergies. My mom had hypothyroidism and even has had surgery for her throat in the past but I haven't been tested for anything and don't know if I have it. She does mention sometimes how i had issues with my blood when I was a baby and had to undergo treatment for it. But I don't really know what that was cause I feel like she ist really aware of it either.
So let's start. I recently started intermittent fasting. I've been fasting for a 16 hour period while eating low calorie but healthier food options in the 8 hour period. Not really balanced meals every single day cause I can't afford it yet. As in yesterday at 12 am Made a reasonable portion of lentils, chicken stock with vegetables and some sardines. And at night I ate what mom made which was chicken dish. Anyway so, recently, this week itself, I noticed how my face (I have acne.) was so dry. So dry my skin was peeling, it was grey and just dehydrated. And I'm wondering why because I use lotion and I drink almost 3 litres of water every single day. And then I looked at my body and it's greyish... Dehydrated... And eventually my armpit felt so sensitive to the touch that i couldn't lower my arm without feeling pain. My vagina is so dry no matter how much water I drink too and before this all starts I was feeling really itchy down there. I would say that it was the first symptom actually. It's still itchy. And I'm wondering if I'm doing this fasting wrong. But then again, people are fine. No one really said that this could be a potential side effect. So why is it happening to me? And now my armpits are getting so dark. So smelly and sensitive. It's hurting. My acne is getting bad and I woke up with pimples this time. My neckline is starting to show some spots and this is just making me cry now. I'm bloated because of how much water I'm drinking. And I saw how some people said that maybe it's electrolyte imbalance so I should add a pinch of salt in my water when I drink but that is doing nothing. My face is dry and flaky. My body is greyish from dehydration. My vagina itchy and my acne getting do bad. I was desperate that one time and drank 4.5 litres of water but I peed it all in the morning. Didn't contribute to anything on my body.
Please. Those who had their comments removed just dm me.

2024.05.13 02:50 TraditionalBadger662 Would it be a bad idea to put salon pas on my chest post-op?

I got DI with FNG surgery and am 6 days post op. I’m starting to experience itchiness/tenderness on my upper chest area near my armpits. I put arnica cream on it to see if it would help but it didn’t really. I’m not able to take benadryl as I am taking 150mg of bupropion xl every day (anti depressant) and it has interactions with benadryl. I already took a 24 hour antihistamine last night but still experiencing this itchy feeling that is tender to touch. I put an ice pack on the area but it doesn’t really help unless it’s directly on my skin without a fabric barrier.
Would it be a bad idea to put salon pas patches on the areas that are itchy? My partner said they would be concerned about the menthol getting near any incisions but I feel like it wouldn’t since everything that is an incisions is under the ace wrap. If anyone else has any other suggestions that would be great!

Edit: Please. Those who had their comments removed just dm me.

I'm a 21 year old woman. I am probably 64kg and 5ft2. I don't do drugs and don't smoke. I live in south Africa and I'm indian. I have no allergies. My mom had hypothyroidism and even has had surgery for her throat in the past but I haven't been tested for anything and don't know if I have it. 2024.05.12 09:39 Left_Reception8081 Does being able to feel a lymph node inherently mean that it is swollen, or are some nodes able to be felt even when healthy/normal?

I am 20F, 5’6”, 143 lbs, white.
In this image:
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/-/scassets/images/org/health/articles/23218-inguinal-lymph-node
the spot where it is labeled “swollen node”, I can feel a lymph node in that exact spot. It’s a small rubbery ball under the skin and it moves very easily under my fingers. It is not painful, tender, swollen, itchy, red, or irritated. It is not visible at all, and the only reason I know it’s there is because I was specifically pressing for it with my fingers. I can feel the same thing on the other side. Again, both are small, smaller than my fingertip.
I tried googling it and some websites say it’s normal to feel the groinal lymph nodes in slim people, and other sites say that you should never be able to feel the nodes unless they are swollen. I wouldn’t consider myself particularly skinny, but I don’t think I have much fat in that area and my hips are bony when I lie down. So perhaps it’s possible that it’s normal?
I have a bit of a heightened awareness for lymph nodes now because I had a swollen one in my armpit last week. The doctor said it was likely fine and probably a response to my jock itch (which started in my groin and then spread to my armpits). That one was actually tender and painful, visible through the skin, and bigger. The jock itch is pretty much gone now but the lymph node in the armpit is no longer painful and starting to shrink.
So my question is: does the ability to feel a lymph node with your fingertips HAVE to inherently mean that it is swollen? Or can normal healthy lymph nodes be felt too? Should I worry about this?

Red and flaky skin
I’m at my wits end. I was using tretinoin for about a month and stopped once I developed this red, itchy, tight, flaky spot under my lip. It’s been about a month since stopping but it won’t go away. Any thoughts?

I’m at my wits end here. I’ve stopped retuning about a month ago because I had this itchy, red, flaky spot right under my lip but it still won’t go away. I’m making a dermatologist apt but it’s next month. Any advice?

2024.05.12 00:55 Few_Cat2291 [24M] Progressive Right-Sided Body Dysfunction with Visual Disturbances, Respiratory Issues, and Multiple Other Symptoms Worsening Since 2018 - Seeking Insight

I have a myriad of symptoms that have slowly gotten worse since 2015, but have gotten much worse since around ~2021/22. Note that all swollen lymph nodes I have mentioned are generally pretty small (ball point tip size maybe, if that. The one in the groin is prolly the biggest if at all). Also, the only one that has been called a swollen node is the one near my right ear and the right groin. The hand one was stated to be a cyst by my PCP.
Also if it helps, I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle partly because of these conditions, partly because that's how I am and partly because I work in tech. My diet is also not the best recently due to the stress/impending doom from these long standing conditions stalling my life, but I am underweight if anything.
It's also worth nothing that other than the floaters, I feel like a lot of my symptoms started getting worse after I had an episode 6 years back where my right end of the lower abdomen was feeling intense pain. It passed but as you will see below, the pain/discomfort has always remained in a dull form. I went through a panel for appendicitis after that and nothing was found.
Any insight would be appreciated. My latest step is waiting on a MS focused neurologist appointment from the other neurologist I just saw and described below. Let me know if I can provide more details for anything! A lot of detail on both symptoms and test is slightly lacking.
Primary Symptoms:
  1. Neurological and Muscular:
    • Right side of body less functional
    • Constant light tremors in muscles
    • Head pressure on the right side
    • Slight difficulty talking from the right side of mouth
    • Stiffness in the right hand, small cyst/lymph node in the center of the hand
    • Stiffness and slight difficulty walking with the right leg. A lot of it also probably due to the abdominal discomfort I feel from the right part of my body. swollen lymph node in the right leg
    • Frequent lightheadedness, dizziness, confusion, fatigue, and inability to think clearly
    • In general when I sit down and lie down a lot, especially when I have not eaten for a long time, my body feels very light (like I might faint) and passes after I walk around or drink water for a bit
    • I've also been a lot more jumpy and almost shaky when standing still the past year
  2. Visual:
    • Floaters, flashing lights in the dark, small dancing dots in bright light
    • Small black dots flashing in bright sunlight
    • Occasional blurry vision
    • Double vision with high contrast (e.g., bright white text on black)
    • Fear of eventual vision loss
  3. Respiratory:
    • Difficulty breathing, especially from the left lung, feeling of drowning
    • Heavy breathing through the mouth, worsened by anxiety medication
    • Discomfort in the bottom right of the left lung
  4. Pain:
    • Dull pain/strain above the right hip, worse with exercise
    • Pain to the right of the belly button and above the right hip bone
  5. Urological:
    • Urinary incontinence
    • Slight discharge after urination
    • Difficulty emptying bladder
    • Frequent but unfounded urge to pee
    • Swollen lymph node between the leg and right testicle
    • Testicular pain and persistent swelling, multiple inconclusive ultrasounds
  6. Lymphatic and Skin:
    • Swollen lymph nodes near the right ear, right neck, and right armpit.
    • Boils or nodes near the collarbone, differently colored
    • Red boils/lumps around the chest and neck, focused on the right, some popping and redness
  7. Ear, Nose, and Throat:
    • Chronic ear infections
    • Tinnitus
    • Swollen feeling in the right neck (under jaw, above adam's apple), pressing under my jaw/
    • Constant phlegm, septum deviation
  8. Miscellaneous:
    • Feeling of having the flu, body being hot, occasional full-body itches. I used to have what I felt were heat flashes 2 years back but not really anymore except the itchy feeling when entering hot places
    • Discomfort closing right arm due to the armpit, feels like something is swollen in there. Found a rubbery boil like thing but it seems to be popped? Very tiny
    • Tons and tons of clear phlegm throughout the day
    • Discomfort sleeping on the right side of the head, causing nausea and light-headedness
Medical Consultations and Tests:
  1. Urologists:
    • Multiple ultrasounds and CT scans of kidneys, urinary tract, and testes (4 years ago and 1.5 years ago), all inconclusive
    • Recent urine tests showed no concerns
  2. Ophthalmologists:
    • Multiple visits over the years, last year saw a retina specialist
    • Findings: astigmatism, common floaters, no notable issues
  3. Neurologists:
    • Two neurologists in the last two years
    • First MRI of brain and cervical spine, nothing notable
    • Second MRI of brain and entire spine, some cervical degeneration
    • Recent neurologist suspects MS, ordered extensive blood panels
    • Abnormal results: CMV IgG, LDL, cholesterol, and vitamin D
    • More results available in case something suspected!
  4. ENTs:
    • Multiple visits, X-rays, and MRIs of sinuses, found nothing significant
    • Noted abnormal facial structure and septum deviation
    • Allergy test: dust allergy
  5. Gastroenterologist:
    • Consulted since abdominal pain and breathing difficulty
    • Colonoscopy done, suspected IBS
  6. Primary Care Physician (PCP):
    • EEG and chest X-ray for breathing issues, no abnormalities found
  7. Misc:
    1. Also did an ultrasound of the blood vessels in my right leg around 4 years back when the right leg discomfort started (due to concerns of DVT), nothing found
Next Steps:

2024.05.11 23:18 nuagedeframboise Dermatologist appointment

Hi! So yesterday I had a dermatologist appointment where she confirmed I had dyshidrotic eczema which was good. She also gave me a clobetasol prescription which I’ve used before briefly and had success.
However when I asked if I could be referred to an allergist she said no because it wasn’t related? I know for a fact I’m allergic to nickel and also have severe environmental allergies and to my knowledge allergies can cause flares so I’m not really sure why she said that 😣
She advised me some hypoallergenic/fragrance free products and the appointment went so quick I’m frustrated I don’t remember everything she said, I wish I recorded it. I think I might call back Monday and ask if I could be forwarded any notes she made :/
This just sucks so fucking bad. I’m tired of the dry skin and peeling and impossible itchiness and urge to put my hands under super hot water I know isn’t good for my skin to stop the itching even if temporary!!
I also have a patch of eczema on my armpit that’s acting up. And I’m running out of prescription allergy medication!!! I’m tired of talking about this all the tiiiiime and while this group has been so nice and comforting/validating to look through, all the advice and different ways people are treating their eczema is so plentiful and I hardly know where to start tbh.
I had eczema a bit as a kid and on my left ring finger towards the end of 2022 but otherwise it started late January super angry (also on left ring finger) seemingly out of nowhere and it’s spread to both my hands and changed the hell out of my life since.
For now, I think just following my treatment plan, switching my body soap and detergent, continuing to take my allergy pills and vit d/c/magnesium will be fine. I’m also going to look for an allergist for patch testing.
Idk what the point of this is really, maybe just to rant to people who will understand but if you have anything to say feel free to comment <3 I could definitely use community rn

2024.05.11 22:50 RationalNL Worsening symptoms during first week of using Nurosym?

I have been suffering from brainfog, intense fatigue, bloating/gut issues, mood swings, food intolerances inflammation of skin, eyelids, gut etc for a very long time. So I was very happy to discover the nurosym and read about the potential positive impact on many of these issues.
I started using the Nurosym one week ago. The first time I used it felt like magic afterwards. Not that all the problems instantly disappeared, but my whole body felt super relaxed and pleasantly tingly. I used it before going to bed (while in bed actually) and was so relaxed and “checked out” that I slept incredibly good. I used it again in the morning, still feeling very relaxed athough the overall brainfog and fatigue etc were still there. Which probably was to be expected; it is not a miracle device.
However, since, I have used it every day for about 30 min in total. And while every time after using it, my body feels relaxed, some strange things have happened to my body. For the last couple of days I have much much worse brainfog and am extremely exhausted to the point where 5 hours after waking up, I really need to take a nap from which I wake up disoriented after 1 or 2 hours while it feels like I have been unconscious for hours. Even stranger; my body produces a lot of mucus and I have to blow my nose every 10 min, my eyes and mostly eyelids have become super dry and burning/itchy with flaky under eyes that are very red (to the point that people asked me whether I was ok). I have difficulty concentrating etc.
QUESTION: (apologies for the long intro) although all of this could be a coincidence, it seems like the Nurosym is doing “something” to my body. Is this a good thing? And is this just the initial phase of resetting? Does my body has to get used to the device and is this part of a healing process? Or should I just stop using it as it is messing up more than it fixes? I think I once read about the possibility of things getting worse before getting better, but not sure if that is a generally accepted view. I feel pretty terrible now (mostly exhausted) but more than willing to stay the course if there is light expected at the end of the tunnel!
Very grateful for your views and advice!
