With so many posts and comments about whether Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind belongs in Epcot, I wondered if it could have fit in Hollywood Studios instead. Is there even a spot for it? It turns out there was a perfect one.
The queue and load/unload building fits perfectly where Star Tours and Backlot Express sit now. I took Google maps screenshots, matched the scale and overlayed the ride buildings. Fits right in, and they could have built a new properly themed facade instead of forcing it into the old Universe of Energy building. I’m sure the non-show facility behind Star Tours could have been relocated.
Also, Star Tours is not much of a draw these days. It’s quite old and is frequently a walk on ride, even on days when other rides have long waits. Backlot Express is nothing special. I think they should consider putting another thrill ride in this spot.
