Do I even stand a chance?
Feeling defeated….I just recently got my MCAT score back, and after scoring consistently in the mid-500s on every practice FL, I got only one point higher than my initial score (495–>496). I am nontraditional (out of college for a few years) with roughly a 3.35 cGPA, 3.0 sGPA, 2000+ clinical experience hours, 100ish shadowing hours (MD, DO, and PA). I grew up in a medically underserved rural area, and I’m interested in rural primary care and plan on only applying DO at this time.
I know that my stats are below average, and I am strongly considering retaking MCAT either in August or September, as well as doing volunteer work this year and continuing to work my healthcare job. However, I really want to apply this cycle, and I’m not sure if I have time to study for the MCAT and retake it by the time I’d need to apply. Another option might be to send an update letter to ADCOMs, though I’m not sure that this would help if I had already gotten a rejection prior to updating MCAT.

• Should I apply later this cycle (fall/winter) after getting more hours and possibly retaking the MCAT, or would I have a better chance submitting sooner rather than later (June-ish) prior to (or regardless of) retaking MCAT?
  
• Would I be at a disadvantage if I had to reapply next cycle (other than potentially wasting time/paying fees again) if I didn’t get accepted this cycle?
  
• Do I have any shot at DO schools in the US with my current stats?
  
• Any other suggestions on how to use this next year wisely to enhance my application/use my time wisely are welcome! What would you do in my situation?

I’m trying to remember the title and author of a YA novel I read sometime around 1980.(I was born in ‘68.) I’m pretty sure I checked the book out from the public library. I can’t remember the overall narrative very clearly and I’m worried I may be conflating memories of different books.
The narrator is a girl in her early teens. I think her family has fallen on hard times; maybe her father has recently died? She has an older sister with whom she doesn’t get along well. She and her sister both have memento boxes in which they store photos, letters, etc.
Her family travels to visit relatives and there’s a wedding; I can’t remember whether they travel for the wedding specifically. She meets an older boy named Duncan and develops a crush on him; I think the crush is reciprocated. During the wedding prep, someone is scooping melon balls. (I remember this because I’d never heard of melon balls before and was fascinated.)
Near the end of the book, there’s a house fire. Then there’s a passage that jumps ahead in time to when the narrator is older, looking back and remembering that although they lost almost everything in the fire, her older sister saved not her own memento box, but the narrator's. She remembers her sister saying, “I saved the most important one.”
I have it stuck in my head that the title is something like The Long Road Home or The Long Way Home. But I have Googled endlessly and although there are a LOT of books with those titles or similar ones, none of them is THIS book.
Does any of that ring a bell with any other older Gen-Xers?

I didn't know exactly how to do it when I applied because i was supposed to be part time but now they are scheduling me to work 48 hours a week. I have fibromyalgia, Migraines, and ADHD and therefore I cannot work more than around 30 hours a week. I assume if I inform them of my disabilities they legally can't scheduled me for more than part time hours right? Especially if I get a work restriction letter from my dr?? Any advice is welcomed as I literally cannot work that much and my team lead does not respect my part time wishes.

My fiance and I are getting married next year, 2025, and are starting to plan our wedding and the details of what we really want, we are both introverted people, hate being the center of attention, and usually keep to ourselves or small groups when out with crowds. We are currently debating between elopement or a small wedding, we were considering to have a reception at a resturant to negate the cost of a venue but we are unsure what that would look like. We are looking for ideas for small weddings that arent fully focused on the couple, (formal dances, reception introductions, speeches), any activities that we can do during the wedding, as a couple we dont like the dance much so a reception to us feels like our worst nightmare. Baby boy is due early October and we know we want the middle name to be James. Looking for first name suggestions, with exceptions - I don't want anything that would easily turn into initials as a nickname. I originally really liked Theodore James and someone mentioned that he could go by T.J. 🤮 No offense to any of you T.J.s out there, I have a bad association with this name. Then I got to thinking about all the other AJs, CJs, DJs, MJs, OJs, and TJs, I've met or known of and no positive associations come to mind. I'd like to rule out names thst start with A, B, C, D, J, K, M, O, P, or T. I know this makes it tougher but I'm hoping the folks in this group will enjoy the challenge! So far I like Samuel, Elliot, Elias, Laurence, and Everett. I really like L sounds. Guess they could still go by EJ, LJ or SJ, but they don't seem as common as the other J combos. (Please also let me know if I'm overthinking this! Maybe I shouldn't discount the names starting with the letters listed above just because of a potential nickname I don't like.) I (28F) am getting married next year. In my country, the principal sponsors are the GodmotheGodfather of the couple to be wed. These roles do not have any monetary responsibility, should they decide to gift anything though is highly welcomed.
I already know whom I want to be a part of my entourage, and my Aunt (let's call her Daisy) is one of them, she and my Mom do not have a perfect relationship but she has been a constant presence in my childhood and adulthood. I always consider her a motherly figure and am close to her daughters. Her eldest is my MOH while the younger one is a BM, that's how close we all are.
Sadly, when it was time for me to invite her and tell her that I was hoping she could be a Godmother at my wedding she dismissed me by saying we'll talk about it, now, I was not surprised when she responded that way as before I messaged her, my Mom already told me the same thing. When my engagement was announced, my mom was overjoyed and started asking Aunt Daisy and their 2 other sisters to be Godmothers, the latter immediately said yes and expressed their excitement and even started joking about how they should start getting back to their "body goals" to look even better in their gowns. Aunt Daisy said no, she said she'll be (please take she'll literally) a Candle or any of the secondary sponsors' roles. When I first heard it, I felt off, Isn't it that the Bride gets to decide who's who? But still, I went ahead and asked her, fast forward, she said we'll talk about it.
I did not want to talk about it and decided that I wouldn't bother her anymore, I know everyone has the right to decline, and I respect that. She just really rubbed me the wrong way, she decided what her role would be, and two, she agreed to become a Godmother for my second cousin's wedding. I'm not jealous of that because I know they are close too. I'm just really sad that she thought she could just decide what she wants without even considering that I probably have other people at my wedding too.

To the east the island of Longhook has virtually seceded, its "whaling" fleet engaging in piratical raids against Imperial shipping. To the north, the land of Caer Don is rife with religious tension as followers of the Old Gods of the rivers and hills feud with the state-mandated Gear Cult which holds Mortals as worthy of worship, not gods.
In the cities, the technological marvels wrought since the Great Spark have revolutionised people's lives. Steamships carry great shipments and transport hundreds about the seas and rivers of the land. Military and private airships dot the skies and all manner of everyday appliances are available to the common man which would seem possible only in the realms of magic centuries ago.
Yet there is a dark side to this technological innovation. Hey /lfg, I'm looking for 4-5 players for a fun, whimsical, Victorian-inspired steampunk styled campaign! Apologies if the prompt was a bit vague, I can't give too much away, but this campaign is to take place in a fleshed out world I've been working on for some time now.

-This is intended to be a levels 3-20 campaign which will be run weekly and will last between 1-1.5 years

Hi there, I'm reaching out for myself and three friends. We're looking for a Dungeon Master to lead our first campaign. Since we're all new to the game, we need someone to help us learn the rules and mechanics while keeping the game enjoyable. We're planning to play every Friday or weekend evening every week. I'll preface my post by saying that I'm totally aware of how stupid and dumb I'm being, and I even welcome more people telling me how stupid and dumb I am, because at this point I don't know what to do.
So I've been subscribed to several OF stars and followed many a hot men in my time, I've never had any issues, I subscribed for my own sexual gratification, got that and moved a long. In the last few weeks however, a new guy I've been following for a month or two started an OF. I'm not quite sure what it is about him, but suddenly I've developed a serious crush on him. He's the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing I think about before going back to bed. This crush has literally been all consuming, and all I want to do is meet him, be a part of his life and his happiness. If I lived close enough, I'd probably go visit him at his day job. For now he's only done solo work, but he's quickly become immensely popular and I'm already having sad and jealous feelings about when he inevitably branches and start collabing with other OF guys. It's all very dumb.
This has literally become debilitating to me, and all I think about during the last week. I haven't been able to work properly or focus on anything else going on in my life, all I want is acknowledgement and approval from him. I need guidance on how can move on from this, which even as I type this statement, the thought of moving on from him hurts my heart.
As an aside, this stupid crush was really unexpected because I'm in a happy relationship. Me and my BF are open, and have been dating for 4/5 years, we have very open communication, and I've even told him about this. I just feel so crazy, I want to move on but at the same time, I just want to be part of this guy's life. Please, I need help. Btw Im 31 years old.
An additional aside, I think I'm very used to getting what I want, as an only child I was pretty spoiled, and as an adult, I'm very determined, ambitious and hard-working when it comes to the things I want. In that respect, I'm finding it so difficult to accept that the one thing I want so badly right now, is probably unobtainable.

I live in Lisbon, Portugal, and Jeep Wranglers are ridiculously expensive. So first a bit of a rant and explanation on why I want a JK. Just went to the dealer to just get a quote for a new one, as I would like the 2024 4xe Wrangler with the updated interior. They will likely not even have the 2024 model until early 2025, because.... Europe. Always lagging behind. On top of that, he wasn't ashamed to give me a quote on the 2023 Rubicon base model that he needed to get rid of in the showroom and it was *just* shy of $100k. I was stunned; how can EU Jeep and the people who decide on Europes' / Portugals' import tariffs and car / CO2 taxes be taken serious?
Anyway, hope that for all Americans here the pain is less when they buy a new car, knowing that your fellow European Jeep aficionados are being royally scr*wed (new Jeep Wrangler is about 4-5 times the average annual salary in Portugal, let that sink in).
So I would like to find a 2nd hand 2016-2018 JK manual transmission, and I'd like to own one with the V6 3.6 relatively reliably engine. Somehow, I can only find 2.8 CRD diesel engines with automatic transmission (and all are like >$70k USD 2nd hand, just throw me off a bridge at this point).
Did Jeep ever release the V6 3.6L engine in Europe? Or was it not allowed due to regulations? Also any advice based on experience on what JK Wrangler to get in Europe is very welcome!

I'll start out by saying I'm pretty sure since finding this Reddit and spending the last three days reading stories from here, I've unintentionally cursed our table. I thought to myself "wow, I'm pleased everyone at the table I play at seems nice and we don't have these problems".
Oops :)
We had two new players at the table - one being the Druid who had passed our table the previous week and was excited to see we were playing DnD and how he wanted to learn, and we told him it was a beginners game so he could come down and try it out, especially as we were starting a new campaign the following week so everyone would be at the same point and making their characters.
The Druid was about 13 (the rest of us ranging between late teens to mid 30s) and excitedly talking about how he's wanted to learn to play DnD so he can start a club at school, and so a few people were helping him write his character. The rest of us were a Wizard, Cleric (me), Paladin, Fighter, and Ranger. Instantly he kept getting distracted, asking everyone about their characters, what their names were, what their races were. Which is fine, he's excited. But he quickly turned it into a competition (for example, "What's your armour class? 7? OMG I'm SOOOO much stronger, mines 12, I'm the strongest, yeah!"). Once his stats were done, he was told to think about his traits/backstory while the rest of us finished up our sheets, but he kept yelling "Are you ready yet??? When are we going to start??? Can we start already???"
Which... Okay again that's fine. He's excited. But it's gonna take a lot longer if you keep interrupting us.
Eventually we start out. The DM starts setting the scene - we wake up in a room on a ship, there's a man sitting in there with us who explains our quest on the island we're moored at. Before anyone can say or do anything the Druid says "I set fire to the ship!" Everyone asks him why he would do that and he said "Because I'm crazy!". The DM has us roll and we discover the ship is enchanted ie it cannot be attacked or affected by statuses. The Druid turns his attention to the man and asks why they should do what he's telling them. The man explains they've already been paid. Druid asks for more money. The man says no. Druid declares he doesn't trust this man and says "I kill this man and chop his head off!". The Wizard tells him that if he does this, he will attack the Druid himself. He still insists that he wants to kill the man. DM has him make a roll, which he fails. He keeps insisting he's going to kill everyone we approach, at what point we explain the concept of a murderhobo and how, yknow, he shouldn't be one.
After we finally got him out of the room, things didn't get better.

• He kept wanting to break the ship, even though we reminded him of the enchantments. Was asked why he wanted to keep destroying everything. He said the old "that's what my character would do!"
• He insisted he wanted to speak to the walls to find bugs to tell him to show us the way out because "I have animal handling proficiency so I can talk to animals". And no, he did not have any spells to talk to animals.
• He asked if he could cast a spell to "find the nearest weapon". No, he doesn't have a spell that could do that.
• Told the DM "you're not in charge here!" to which we pointed that yes. Yes he is.
• He ran down a corridor and through an open door, only to land in a swimming pool he hadn't seen. When the rest of us approached the room slowly and said we'd walk around it, he said that wasn't fair and told the DM to "make us fall in" so he wasn't the only one that did. DM explained that he wouldn't since we weren't the ones that chose to run in without looking and that there are consequences to actions.
• During a puzzle he kept loudly telling everyone how he knew what was going on and had figured it out. He had not.
• Rather than pay attention to his stats and the game, he kept the page turned over writing his backstory while the game was going on. He was told multiple times the page with his stats on was more important to have on hand so he could keep referring back to it. He said he didn't care.
• He complained it was "all my fault" that we were in a room with a puzzle in the first place. Bud, there was literally no other rooms to go in than the one we were in. Other players explained there were no right or wrong answers, that it wasn't anyone's 'fault'.
• My favourite: We had to roll initiative, he was in fifth position. The Ranger was taking their turn, and he kept saying how he wanted to go next. We explained it wasn't his turn. "But I just want to do--" Not your turn. "But I only want to--" Cool. Still not your turn. "But it's not fair! I just want to--" Not. Your. Turn.
• Even after DM announced the session was over, he kept saying he wanted to do "one more thing" even though we were all putting our dice away, the DM screens were closed down, people were leaving, lol

Obviously I know that he's young, and I'm being harsh, and I know it was his first game, and he definitely has the enthusiasm, but his lack of interest in understanding the game and rules despite being told them over and over really worries me what the next session will be like. He wants instant gratification, things handed to him on a silver platter and to be the most important, the strongest, the smartest. I felt like a babysitter. There were other examples of things he was told over and over that he refused to take on board. I swear my 7 year old niece understands taking turns better than he did.
Any advice in handling him, or suggestions I can make to him would be welcome. I'm curious where he learnt about DnD to see if there's any examples of etiquette I can give him the next time he comes along to a session. Best case scenario that he maybe goes away, thinks over what he's been told, and comes back next session with a little more understanding. Hopefully.

I'm at a crossroads and seriously considering starting a GLP1 weight loss journey. I have tried so hard through calorie deficits and exercise, with no luck so far.
A bit of background: My sister's wedding is in August, where I'm the MOH. Initially, I wanted to get Lipo360, but due to some medical conditions, surgeons aren't on board.
My concern is, my boyfriend said he knows a guy friend who took tirzepatide and lost weight, and as soon as he stopped taking it he gained it all back.

Being totally true to the original game, we would actually add these a week and half into the game after everyone had just been making up their troop numbers. What follows is a slightly modified form of the rules that were on the original wiki.

Code of Chivalry

YOU MUST READ THROUGH THESE RULES IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SUBREDDIT! THEY ARE VITAL TO KEEPING THE SUBREDDIT FUNCTIONING IN THE MOST IDEAL MANNER!

1) Time

• Time in /westerospowers does not progress at the same rate as IRL. For more effective interaction, it is sped up.
  
• 1 day IRL = 2 months in WP
  
• Like in /worldpowers, Sunday is not counted in WP, this is a day off where houses can post [NEWS] for the week relating to their holding. [EVENTS] cannot be created, nor [CONFLICTS]. Basically, no action other than [NEWS], [CLAIM] or [META] can take place on Sunday. In your post, put the WP time, not IRL time (for example) : 4 months . (this would be 2 days IRL)
  

2) Claiming

You can claim a holdfast and a house/faction, which will give you dominion over it's adjoining lands. For example; House Baratheon and Storm's End, or Vaes Dothrak and the Dothraki Sea. There cannot be more than one of each house, unless an agreement has been reached, and then no more than two. The two must also be easily distinguishable (i.e. Stannis/Renly Baratheon).

• When you claim, use the [CLAIM] tag and state the house and holdfast in your title, and then use the description to tell us what you want your style to be (e.g. Kingslayer, Lion of the Rock, Red Viper, Mother of Dragons).
  
• Once you claim a holdfast, we will do the best we can to quickly get it on the Claimed List. Remember, we fuck up too, so feel free to message the mods.
  
• You may abandon your holdfast at any point in the game and claim another one. However, you will only be able to do so again after 1 month.

4) Etiquette

POSTS
DO

• Use a tag: [CLAIM], [EVENT], [EXPANSION], [CONFLICT], [NEWS], or [META].
  
• Announce anything important, agreements, events, and make decrees. Celebrate or commiserate occasions, such as marriage contracts, welcoming a new sworn sword, mourning a death, completing construction, weddings, funerals, etc.
  

DO NOT

• Be stupid. Play the game of thrones, be patient, forge alliances, and don't unveil your moves until it's too late. Open war is not always the most feasible option. .

5) Duel

[DUEL] will be used for starting duels. A duel will consist of a 1v1 battle between two characters. Each belligerent will post a role playing story of the last few minutes before the fight begins. The "home team" gets to make the first post so they can describe the location of the duel. The stories will be voted upon and the post with the most upvotes (not overall score because we're ignoring downvotes) will win. The winner will then post a [DUEL - RESOLVED] post that describes the fight. If a stories score doubles (minimum winner score 4) the other's the winner may kill the loser. Otherwise, all duels end with a capture or injury.

6) Conflict

It is natural that houses will wish to attack other houses for land and resources, or simply to keep things interesting. This is fine, but it is wise to consider diplomacy before calling the banners.

How do I create a Conflict?

• Make a post using the [Conflict - Rally] tag declaring that you are rallying your allies. This step will be used for a lord to call his allies to rally on him for a coming battle. Any lords that wish to participate in a coming battle must respond to this post (with the amount of troops rallied) in order to be counted in the battle. Any forces that were loaned to a lord by an [Event] post can be rallied by the loanee. The opposing side in the conflict should create their own rally post. You can still choose to stand down from a rally.

• If you wish to betray those who think you allies, Rally as normal for your supposed allies. Then send a message to the moderators with a [Conflict - Betrayal] tag. The mod will take your forces into account on the correct side.
  
• When at least 24 IRL hours have passed since one of the Rallies, you may then commit your forces using a [CONFLICT - COMMIT]. This signals the attack; defenders can not commit. This sets the number of troops that will be on each side to whomever has rallied on each side. If one side does not create a Rally post it is assumed that they use their full local forces (i.e. those still in the holdfast). A mod will then create the next post.
  

[CONFLICT-COMMIT] MyHouse attacks ThatHouse

• If you wish to retire from the field (i.e. if diplomacy succeeds or if you do not want to do battle), please create a [Rally - Release] post. This will count as your troops leaving the field, and neither army will be able to attack after that post has been made. Of course, if you retreat while defending a holdfast, the attackers can freely take it.

How does a conflict end?

• Whichever team of countries has the most points from battles wins. If the loser does not surrender then the battle continues. If the conflict lasts for the full 6 days IRL, then the loser must agree to a fully unconditional surrender.
  
• Another way for a conflict to end is if the attacker calls off the conflict or if the holdfast invaded surrenders or they both come up with a peaceful treaty to end the war.
  

What happens after a Conflict where a winner is declared at the end?

• The losing ruler has two options:

a) The less honourable course: They may rule their holdfast under the authority of the winner by pledging fealty, and becoming vassals. This means they must give their allegiance to the winning house. However, the loser can plot to overthrow the winner, but obviously must find the support to do it. The victor lays claim to the conquered land. The losing ruler still has control of the land, however, will be under control of the victor and will need to report to the victor as the victor may veto any decision the losing ruler makes
b) The honourable way: They may be destroyed by the winning house, root and stem. The losing house will be completely eradicated. The disputed lands will go to the winning house.
If a person's house has been eradicated (i.e. House Reyne), they may claim a new one after 7 days.

6) Expansion

General Guidelines

Because we recognize the reality that houses are going to want to annex unclaimed holdfasts for more land, we are making imperialism to a certain degree allowed.

• YOU CANNOT ANNEX WHOLE COUNTRIES! This doesn't include small islands. We will only allow territories or regions, like Winterfell taking White Harbour.
  
• Small regions are eligible for imperialism, but if your annexation of territory starts to become unreasonable, we will force you to renounce your annexation or just delete your post. Please try to keep it to a reasonable size.
  
• If you claimed a small region at first and want to annex another, message the mods. We will evaluate your request and see if you can take control of another small area.
  
• If you try to claim the entire North, you are going to have a bad time! Be reasonable and realistic, only take over small regions.
  
• Any region that is under the control of a claimed holdfast (read: imperialized) cannot be taken over by someone else.
  
• If you win a war against a house with imperialized territories, the conflict rules apply to the territories as well (refer back to War).
  
• Abandoned/revoked holdfasts belong to the liege lord. If no new player tries to claim them in 3 days, the liege lord is free to give them away. If there's no liege lord, the city/castle will become available in the claim list.
  

How to Imperialize

If you are declaring an annexation, use the tag [EXPANSION]. We will also put a list in the wiki of Annexed Territories. This is how you should go through your annexation:
1) [EXPANSION] House A will be sending delegates over to Holdfast X to discuss fealty.

• Put the proposed terms of your annexation as well as an explanation for it

2) [EXPANSION] Holdfast X has agreed to swear fealty to House A

• Describe any changes to the region annexed.

7) Mod-Injected Crises

• Every now and then, because we are bored, we will make up a realistic crisis with a [CRISIS] tag. This can be an economic recession, natural disaster, or a magical threat.
  
• Each faction is encouraged to react to the crisis in the comments. You can say what your house is doing for recovery, if it will provide aid, how it affected you, etc.
  

8) Money

Please just be realistic. We aren't going to place limits because we want you guys to have fun, but if you donate 40 trillion gold dragons then obviously we will not allow it. Be aware of your house's economic situation, and just be realistic.

9) Inactivity

• To make sure houses don't become dormant, we will be enforcing active participation.
  
• TO BE CONSIDERED ACTIVE YOU MUST MAKE AT LEAST ONE [EVENT] PER WEEK
  
• You must also participate in News Days and post your [News] on Sundays
  
• If you fail to do so and it comes to our attention, then you will be given 1 day's notice before we default your house.
  

Let the mods know if you will be away for an extended period of time. If you have sufficient reason for your absence, and give a date when you will be able to return, the above does not apply for that time. Arrangements must also be made by the player regarding the temporary ownership of your holdfast. If these conditions are not met, the house may still be defaulted.

Starting a Conflict

1. Normally all conflicts must begin with a [CONFLICT - RALLY] post. This post represents a host bringing their forces together for a fight. Normally at least 12 IRL hours must pass before a commit post is made.
   
2. If the two sides agree, or if a mod makes a ruling, you may skip straight to the commit phase.
   
3. The [CONFLICT - COMMIT] post indicates that the attack has been launched by the poster.
   
4. The mods will then make a [CONFLICT-SCORE] post ASAP. This conflict score post will use the below rules to declare a victor.
   

Fighting the Conflict
We will be using simple 6 sided dies (d6), 3 sided dies (d3), and 5 sided dies (d5) to represent combat. We have a bot perform these rolls. The number of which will be decided like this

1. In our example battle we have the following two sides: Side 1 consists of 1,000 men. Side 2 consists of 500 men.
   
2. Add both sides together to get the full number of troops in the battle, then divide each side's forces by that number to see the percentages. For example, a battle of 1,000 vs. 500 would be 66% and 33% respectively.
   
3. Each side's percentages will be rounded to the nearest 5%, so in this example it would be 65% and 35%. Each side will receive 1d6 for every 10%, any remaining 5% will give a 1d3. In the above example,the Side 1 (65%) force will receive 6d6 + 1d3. Side 2 (35%) will receive 3d6 + 1d3.
   
4. The results of the rolls will be added to create the initial score. The defender during a siege will receive a bonus to the their initial score equal to the defense value of the battle site. In this example, Side 2 will have a defense value of 4. The final result of all modifiers is the Battle Score.
   

Note: Defense bonus is based on the location of the defender and added to the end of the final total
Final = Total of Dice + Bonus
Note: Half the Defense value is added to the total dice sides. So a defense rating of 6 would add 3 making a D6 a D9.
In this example let's assume the following rolls:

• Side 1 (1,000, 65%): 1, 5, 4, 6, 3, 6, +2 (from the 1d3)
• Side 2 (500 , 35%): 3, 6, 6, +1 (from the 1d3), +4 (from defense)
  
• Side 1 Battle Score: 25
  
• Side 2 Battle Score: 20
  

Side 1 wins by 5!
During a battle in the open field this usually means the losing side is routed or retreats. During a siege the battle will continue until either side gives in or runs out of troops.
Note: Tie Goes To the Defender
Determining Casualties
Causalities will be determined as follows:
For the smaller army the average of all d6 rolls will be averaged together (round normally). In the above example that would result in an average of 5 ((6 + 6 + 3) / 3) kill dice for side 2. This determines how many kill dice (d5s) will be rolled for enemy causalities.
For the larger army, the highest d6 rolls equal to the amount of the smaller armies rolls will be averaged. In the above example that would mean the 3 highest (6,6,5) rolls would be averaged together for a result of 5.67, rounded to 6. The larger army (side 1) will roll 6d5 kill dice.
These d5 represent the percentage of causalities the opposing side will suffer. The winner will receive a bonus to their kill results equal to the amount of points they win by (in this example 6).

• Side 1 kill dice results: ( 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1) = 8 + 5 (excess battle score) = 13
• Side 2 kill dice results: ( 5, 2, 4, 3, 4) = 18

Those numbers represent how much of the opposing army is out of the fight (dead, injured, or captured). In this battle Side 1 won the battle, but Side 2 was able to cause a higher percentage of causalities.
18% x 1,000 = 180 troops out of the fight
13% x 500 = 65 troops out of the fight
What happens next
In an open field battle, the loser retreats and is run from the field. In a defense, another phase of battle will be run until either side gives in.
The mod running the battle will give a short blurb on what occurs in the fight. For this one, I would say something like:

Despite many casualties, Side 1 was able to get over the city's walls. Side 1 takes the inner side of the walls while Side 2 decides to continue the battle in the city streets.

im not sure when else to fit this in but this was when i (F19) was 17. well to start, to say "i went," was an understatement. my parents came into my room at 12 am on a sunday night with school the next day and said "we need to talk" followed by "we're sending you away." and within 3 hours i was on a flight across the country with 0 idea on where i was heading with 2 people i had never met before.
but before i get into all of that ill start from the beginning and give some back story; im not going to lie, i was a shit kid. i stole from my parents, anything from alcohol to money to their vapes. i snuck out on multiple occasions, i lied (A LOT). and this all sounds like typical teenage behavior until you factor in the serious mental health issues (depression, anxiety, etc) and serious drug use. and less important but i had straight A's until my behavior got worse and i started failing almost every class. so although my parents were epitome of helicopter parents, i cannot completely blame my parents for sending me where they did, especially after exhausting every other option they could think of, this was their last resort.
now back to me on a flight, my brain was exhausted and didnt want to fight anymore after i had screamed and cried about going for an hour straight so i slept both flights i got on, i barely remember going through the airports. i lived in the midwest at the time, never travelled west before and was never told where i was going, so imagine my surprise when i wake up in texas, i get on another flight, wake up again in colorado. ill spare the boring details but at this point i was filled in on what was happening and told id be joining my group in just a few hours then we'd all head to utah together. at this point im still getting fast food and the adults im travelling with are letting me pick the music in the car (little did i know this was like last time id experience anything "normal" like that for the next 100 days). now i join my group and it goes well, everyone is accepting and nice enough. we get to dinner, oh god, i think i cried bc it was just straight up burnt instant mashed potatoes. everyone else here was used to that, the last thing i ate just 4 hours ago was a chipotle burrito and a chocolate chip cookie. i know i sound like a drama queen but i did get used to it, eventually and things werent that bad once you figured out the tricks to make it better. and i know im making all of this sound like i was pretty unbothered but trust me i was LIVID with my parents. we could send each other a letter once a week, for the first month all i would write is "hi, im doing fine. -(my name)" i probably wouldnt send anything if my camp guides didnt make me.
now i know a big question a lot of people have about wilderness therapy programs are "did you get abused?" and the answer to that is no, not at all, and i never saw it happen either. there was a VERY strict no touching at all policy for both staff and kids. and any kid had to be with 3 people at all times (example, if it was a kid and a kid there had to be another staff with them, if there was a kid and a staff there had to another staff or another kid, basically kids couldnt be alone with anyone) it was definitely a legit program and im thankful everyday i did get fortunate to get to go to better one than others. every week we'd go on a hikes and camp at a different spot each night, we'd do that friday- monday. tuesday-thursday we'd do chores, showers, therapy sessions, etc. (yes, one shower a week, we were allowed to take more but we'd have to carry the shower bag and soap on trips with already 40 pound packs, and usually when we were done hiking it was near dark and time for dinner then bed, so i never saw anyone take more than one a week)
i dont know how all of this worked or when it clicked in my head that i cant be a little shit anymore but it did. 2 years later i can confidently say my parents and i's relationship has gotten significantly better. i moved out after wilderness bc i had my 18th birthday while there (trust me ik, it sucked, not to mention i also missed halloween, thanksgiving, my dads bday, christmas, and new years,) i moved to the east coast and moving out was probably the best decision, i had broke the news to my parents while in wilderness still, parents/siblings (my brothers stayed home for school) can visit about 2 months in for a few days, i dont think ill ever forget the shock on their faces when i told them i wasnt moving back in after this. i told them i was talking to my therapist about what they called aftercare which was essentially exactly what it sounds like, a place to go after wilderness therapy for more care.
my therapist and i had found a place on the east coast and my parents agreed to pay for it, seeing i was doing much better and they wanted to keep it going. after i got there and got access to my phone back, i did what any single newly 18 year old would do and downloaded tinder, within a week i had a date with a guy who after another 2 weeks became my boyfriend. (sounds fast i know, he told me he knew i was the one after he found out i could start a fire without fuel or a match, he's a big outdoorsy guy lmfao, thanks wilderness therapy for teaching me bow drilling?) he was really accepting and understanding of my situation, it was hard to see each other because i was still under strict rules in my aftercare (only allowed to leave for 2 hours a day without reason 24 hours ahead of time) but we made it work until i confided in him i was getting harassed by my roommate there. after that he moved me out with him within a couple weeks even though we hadnt even been with each other 2 months yet. (i say all of this for a reason, you'll see) now i dont know what me and him were thinking because i had just moved and had 0 money to my name, and he would go out of town for trips once a month which worked for him but now his rent and food costs doubled but we were determined to make it work, especially because we wanted to prove my therapist wrong who had said before i moved out of the aftercare house "if and when, because inevitable you will ask your parents for money because you wont be able to do this alone" this aftercare was supposed to help me get things like my GED, a job, my license, or anything else to help me become independent. and, 2 months of being there, they didn't do any of that. i was basically in the same state i showed up in.
so yes after moving in with my boyfriend we did struggle for about a month, then i got my GED, then a job and my license process started within 2 months. here i am a year and 3 months after moving in, we have our own place, i still have the same job, i have my license, i have a car, and obviously im still with the same guy.
i guess my point of this post were a couple things,

1. parents, please please please do your research before giving someone else complete care of your kid, i have no doubt in my mind that if i was sent somewhere worse for my mental health i would be a lost cause at this point if not worse, it is so extremely important that the '"help" you're giving is actually helpful
   
2. has any one else gone through something similar? havent met many with the same type of backstory.
   
3. there is hope and things do get better.
