I followed the pattern but my guy didn't turn out like the picture. Apparently the book is using UK terminology but since I didn't examine the first pages, well, you'll see. (Book is sold at Michael's so I didn't think it wouldn't be US.) Managed to get it right (little green guy) and made an angry-eyebrow one in red for my daughter. (This was previously posted here a month ago but was removed - rightfully so - because I included the entire pattern. Reposting so others can laugh and enjoy! ) submitted by Hammered_As_Hell to crochet [link] [comments]

Does anyone know good amigurumi patterns on YouTube that require very little yarn? Iām currently making a dinosaur on a road trip and I know by the end Iāll have some yarn left (have two rolls, one is almost gone) and I canāt go the whole way back home without crocheting (I freak out in highway traffic). So if anyone has any suggestions please lmk!

2024.05.06 12:17 angrytables34 14F looking for a penpal!
A little about me:
ā My name is chantale, but you can call me whatever you want I donāt really mind. Im 14, but turning 15 in two weeks!! Im from New Zealand, which is not part of Australia if you didnāt know. We donāt usually show up on maps so just need to make sure you know. I can speak a few languages, but only one fluently. I can speak English, Fiji Hindi (basically the younger and cooler sister of Hindi), a bit of French (Ive taken classes for a few years) and Iāve just started arabic!
ā I like to do a lot of things like crochet, gaming, coding, reading and playing badminton. I especially enjoy crochet, and have been doing it for about 2~ years now. I also knit, cross stitch and finger knit. I guess you can tell that really enjoy doing crafts š. Anyway, I also like to do gaming in my free time! I often play Minecraft, Roblox, genshin and the sims but Iāve had basically no time recently to do anything so I havenāt touched them in a while. I also have very recently picked up reading again, since i had to drop it when i was younger bcs it gave me bad vision. I like most genres apart from heavy romance books. Im pretty bad at badminton, but i still play it. I play for my school, but i usually lose my games because they put us against very high ranked teams š.
āIn my free time i dont really do much because i barely have any šš. I will try to respond to letters and emails fast but honestly im already buried in homework so it may take a bit of a while. In the spare i do have time, i like to watch tv and crochet or annoy my mum.
ā my music taste is kinda all over the place so the artists I like are kinda random. My favourites are probably: grentperez, laufey, skz, bts, Weezer, Metallica, jack stabber, and arctic monkeys.
ā favourites !
food: pasta
Animal: sharks (they r the best idk why ppl hate on them so much) + dinosaurs
show: girl from nowhere + bojack horseman
film: gangubai kathiawadi + borat
book: fantastic mr fox, matilda, anything from roald dahl
song: clementine - grentperez (will probably change in a week)
subject: digital technology or geometery
Im willing to have any sort of penpal (snailmail, email, postcard, etc) as long as they are under 18! :D

2024.05.06 07:15 GlitteringLove7433 MIL gets all boys clothes, makes blue blankets, despite us not telling anyone the gender. Baby shower guests now think itās a boy.
JNMIL has been obsessed with trying to find out the gender of our baby this entire pregnancy, as we arenāt telling anyone (I found out on accident). My shower was this past Saturday and she has been slaving away over 3 crochet blankets for a few months, and brought them along with a ton of clothes. Am I appreciative? Yes. But theyāre all boy clothes, and because I was pressured to open gifts at the shower (I wasnāt planning on it) the impression of seeing 3 blue blankets, and tons of very boy-ish clothes (think suspenders and button up shirts š) left all the guests thinking that it was indeed a boy and she must know because sheās the grandma. Iām livid. We ARE having a boy. But i really didnāt even want to know myself, let alone have anyone else know. I just hate that when people hear a gender they start buying all the crap THEY associate with that gender and I didnāt want that. I didnāt want the sports/dinosautruck themed clothing because I think itās lame. I didnāt want people promoting gender stereotypes onto my unborn child. I just wanted people to experience the mystery of it since itās rare people donāt find out what theyāre having. But everyone is just obsessing over it until yesterday. Everyone left saying they canāt wait to meet the baby boy. One person told me they thought it was a cool way to do a gender reveal and Iām just likeā¦ what the f@ck? I hate my MIL so much. She has the most smug look on her face when gender related topics come up and I feel like this was the last thing to make me realize I genuinely hate her. It may or may not have been her intention with the blankets and clothes, but itās hard not to feel like she just had to take a jab. She couldnāt just buy the neutral toned clothing I would ACTUALLY use. I also just remembered that she told me my tan looked ātrumpyā (she hates him so it was in a bad way) and to be fair it wasnāt the best looking self tan, but like maybe donāt tell your DIL she looks gross in your opinion? Like I donāt know in what situation that would ever be okay. Idk maybe Iām just being sensitive about things but I just feel like I need much more distance from her and donāt really want her in my life at all frankly. Iām so mad. Am I over reacting?

2024.05.05 06:00 Direct-Caterpillar77 Stranger gave my toddler Ā£1
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Environmental_Sea638 Stranger gave my toddler Ā£1 Originally posted to CasualUK Original Post Apr 24, 2024 We were in the post office and a lady in a motorised wheelchair was waving at my son. He's a friendly little boy, and the lady seemed keen to engage, so my mum and I encouraged him to say hello and show her his new dinosaur. He gave her a nice big "rawr!" to let her know how fearsome it was, and then gave her the odd little wave as he toddled about near the queue.
She was asking his age, and was generally very kind and friendly.
When she was leaving she called my little boy over and handed him Ā£1. She said she loves children but often when she tries to say hello, the parents move their kids away. She told us that we'd absolutely made her day, and she was beaming. I promised her I'd get my boy a treat with the money, which we did.
It reminded me of a time when older people would often give children they came across little gifts or coins - It definitely happened to me as a child.
A lovely memory, and I'm so pleased we made her day. It cost us absolutely nothing. (Although it did cost her Ā£1!)
RELEVANT COMMENTS Own-Lecture251 Get him a collection tin to carry around. For his future.

~ Xanyla My dad has dementia, when he first met my son, he wasn't AS bad but I don't think he quite grasped who he was to him, but he gave him a pound coin and told him to sleep with it under his pillow! My son was 3 weeks old so that hasn't happened yet haha, but I have the coin ready and waiting for when he's old enough :-)
~ LewisMileyCyrus Just have 999,999 more toddlers and bosh, you're a millionaire
OOP That's genius! And toddlers are notoriously easy to care for...!
sybiriya My kid 4 at the time fell over some grass and bashed her nose up, looked worse than it was of course. Some jolly old bloke was walking his dog saw the whole thing came over and gave me a fiver to 'buy her some sweets'. So now thinking about tripping my kids up in front of old people for a nice money making opportunity
Update Apr 29, 2024 To follow on from my post the other day, this morning an older lady in a wheelchair gave my toddler a hand crocheted puppy in a garden centre. The woman with her said that she carried around a pocket full at all times, just in case she gets the opportunity to give one away to a kiddo. The act of sitting and making these just to spread joy is gorgeous.
Isn't the world lovely ā¤ļø
Note: we've just moved from London to Lincolnshire. We never experienced anything like this in London, so maybe its a small town thing. Either way, it's adorable.
Another note: yes, yes, I know it's not appropriate for an 18 months old to play with, but it will sit on one of his higher shelves in his bedroom until he's older.
Picture of the crocheted puppy RELEVANT COMMENTS Ok-Camp-7285 There's nothing wrong with your 18 months playing with it. Just be sure the ribbon/collar doesn't come off
OOP It's actually quite a loose crochet, with some gaps in the stitching. My little boy would have it ripped apart and all of the stuffing pulled out within seconds of getting hold of it. I'm not a particularly worrisome mum, but I'd rather we wait until he's a little older to play with this one, even if its just so that the work that went in to it gets to be appreciated for a little bit longer.

2024.05.02 02:34 Midnight1029 Second crochet project - a lil sleeping Kirby!
Well, heās not that little. Bu anyway, t I started crocheting like a week ago with a Woobles dinosaur, which I finished on Saturday. I had so much fun that I decided to look for more patterns, and found this adorable sleeping Kirby one on Etsy. So I bought it, bought a crap ton of yarn, and then spent the past few days making this guy! Sure, one of his legs is twice the size of the other and heās a little lumpy, but Iām still pretty darn proud of myself. I think Iām gonna continue with simple amigurimi projects for a while, continue to learn more stitches, and go from there! Except now I gotta find somewhere to store the yarn but Iāll figure that out. Eventually. submitted by Midnight1029 to crochet [link] [comments]

2024.04.15 12:59 zdety In pain while crocheting
Hi everyone! I'm a newbie, crocheted a few tiktok famous round cat and a dinosaur plushie before. Right now I'm working on granny square blanket and unlike before I have pain on my inner forearm. When I had the pain for the first time I stop crocheting until fully recovered (3 days I guess). Then when I started crocheting the pain came back in short time. I have pain while crocheting but especially pain hits after I stop, almost hard to fall asleep. After my last pain I got this medical wrist band and it helps a bit. Today I tried crocheting with the band on and still had the pain. Do you feel the same experience when you were a newbie? Is it about I'm still not used to the movement of crocheting? Do you have any suggestions or comments? submitted by zdety to CrochetHelp [link] [comments]

2024.04.10 18:04 pinkroses1111 Help following video tutorial!!
Hello!! My boyfriend got me a crochet kit and this is my first time learning how to do it. The kit has YouTube videos for each little thing you can make and I am currently working on a dinosaur, will link the video below. Iāve started over like five times over the past few months and donāt know what Iām doing wrong!! The video is less instructional and more watching someone do it. Iām wondering if anyone has any good resources on how to read patterns. Also I will include my progress so far. Any help making sense of this would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!!!
