2024.05.21 22:26 Ok_Stop_3840 Tournament in 2 months, what do i do?

I’ve played chess pretty consistently for the last 5 months and around a week ago. I got an idea, i wanted to participate in a classical chess tournament. And i got in, in the 0-1600 elo class which wasn’t very hard. I ofcourse want to do well in this tournament, so i started doing puzzles and ive reached 1500 puzzles rating on chesscom and i usually have (in classical games) a stockfish rating of 1400-1600. But i want to get atleast top 3, and im guessing that the best players that are there play like they are a 1900elo player. So, do you guys have any advice for me? Feel free to ask questions about my post aswell if something is unclear!

2024.05.21 22:26 ThatOneGuysHomegrow With no definitive ending, I always stop playing.

Played once, got to level 120, had shitloads of quests left, but just no urge to go do them. So I stopped paying for Game pass.
Decided to go try out New Vegas and 4 and fell in love.
Saw that 76 was free when the show came out so I grabbed a copy started a new playthrough. Different build, and this time I stuck with the main quest, trying to keep the story straight... But still, got to level 135 this time and hit that same wall.
Launching a nuke felt empty. Glad I finally did it, but it's not like it changed literally anything.
The only way I enjoyed playing the main story was on a private server...but to hide it behind a paywall is shitty. ...... Also why the hell is a tent a premium feature???
I found myself only logging in to go do events, to get items for my camp, just to have to delete other items from other events.
They need to give players free private servers to go to the main quest on, and give the game a definitive ending with credits that roll at the end. Give the developers credit! (Integrate new quests in as updates come allowing players who already finished the story to PLAY AGAIN WITH NEW CONTENT!) Let the nuke change West Virginia and your character ages a couple years before the npcs come in. Give the player more camp space since the server isn't being taken up.
Oh you don't want to play that way? Okay then let the people do their quests on the public server but give them a big on screen note letting them know that "You're actions will not hold over into the public server but once you log back into your private server your public actions will carry over.. WARNING! the game will have no end in this server." This is where you put the events and shit at. Make SBQ soloable for the private server main quest.
Idk something.

2024.05.21 22:24 ShiroSnow Necropolis idea / opinion

Have been playing since the start of the league and have witnessed many of the bugs, unintended interactions, and simply bad choices made with mechanics. Scarab changes are another story and I'll leave them out of this bit one for thing, involving the future of the league mechanic.
The idea behind the graveyard and corpses I think was solid, but caters way to much to such a small percent of players at the later stages. I personally don't like any mechanics that require 3rd party applications just to function, and that was the heart of this mechanic. Needing to use resources like Craft of Exile and whatever Graveyard layout we were able to find. I have no suggestions on how to fix this ingame other than adding a "random outcome" option where we can see maybe 5 potentials results before committing to sacrificing all the coffins.
Second, is storage and variety. Remove the creature types. No more beast, construct, ect, and let us stack coffins of the same type. They don't need names or anything, no ones really looking at that anyway. Are they? This would also help trade so much, as people maybe willing to store even a stack of 5.
Graveyard UI. Give us a top down view where we drag and drop into the spot we want. No more running around. This top down UI should also save a few custom layouts. No more spreadsheets.
Allflames are another interesting idea, and I think should they be added to the base game, will be the only way to get corpses. Allflame drop locations are from areas / mechanics associated with them. Breach only drops from breach, legion from legion, ect. Bosses drop their own. You can use ONE a map, and it always additional packs of that type. Could replace the scarab, could be used on the map itself like a deli orb, or a new slot. Rare one like Meatsack can only drop in maps that have an allflame used on it.
The lantern was kinda fun, but I think I'm apart of the minority who got the Divine drops from it. 3 actually, making over 200 divines total. Apart from the convert to x currency or chance to drop x I wasn't much of a fan, and it felt mandatory to grab things on the atlas no matter what I was doing. I'm indifferent if this stays, but for the health of the game and accessibility to new players I think it should be removed, OR turned into a special Allflame that allows us to add the modifiers.
Lastly, scarab interactions with league mechanic. Necropolis set of scarab! One monster in the map will drop a random allflame. Allflames gave a chance to duplicate. increase chance of coffin droprate. increased chance of of a higher tier coffin. Chance for all monsters to be converted to type of Allflame.
My ideas arnt perfect, but I wouldn't prefer to see the mechanic stay rather than never be seen again. Inventory management was by far the worst part. From holding corpses to burying them.

2024.05.21 22:23 Chaton__ Looking for a game engine for a specific project!

Hey! I am looking for a game engine that can be used both for top down 2d RPGs like Omori, Stardew and Undertale while also being able to make point and click / Visual novel style games. Planning on a game project where there is sections where you go thru chats / pictures just clicking in more of a visual novel style while also having dream sections that are more like Omori, Stardew and Undertale where it's top down RPG. What'd be the best engine I could use for something like this? I haven't really used any engines before a lot so I'm fine with anything preferably free or cheap though! <3 Thank you

2024.05.21 22:22 virgildiablo Sorted this bag of 2500 wheats that I got from my late grandpa that contained only coins from the 10's, 20's, and 30's

Sorted this bag of 2500 wheats that I got from my late grandpa that contained only coins from the 10's, 20's, and 30's
Storytime: My grandpa enjoyed sorting through those big canvas bags of wheats before he passed away last year, to the extent that he had a little side business dealing out the coins over the last 20 years. I inherited like 130 matched rolls, each roll a different issue, but I also got ten bags of 2500 each after his coin room was done being cleared out. Almost a year later I'm finally making some headway itemizing everything and decided to start sorting through the bags. Some bags weren't wheats at all, one was all 40s and 50s, a couple had some nice finds in them. But this bag was ALL 10s, 20s, and 30s. So at this point it's safe to say I've been bitten by the same bug that got him lol. I woke up excited knowing I had some free time today and that I still had half of this bag to go through. I did a bit of this with him when I was kid but I had mad undiagnosed ADHD back then so it never really held my attention for very long lol. However nowadays it's been a good way to relax while I watch a ball game or listen to a podcast or something. It's also been a good way to remember and stay connected to someone who isn't around anymore. Now I'm looking forward to hitting the same shops he liked to frequent, to start buying my own bags.
Just wanted to share some good luck while also celebrating/paying tribute to my late grandfather who shared his collection with me and got me into this hobby, so thanks if you read this far.

2024.05.21 22:17 WannabeTeaCollector 20 [M4F] - EU/Anywhere - Let's try to find love!

Hello! To start things out I am from Poland, currently I am uni student. I feel like love is one thing that was always missing in my life, so I am trying to find someone here :).
Ok it's time to write something about me. I am pretty energetic and love moving my body all the time. I take a huge intrest in world of medicine and I am studying to become doctor one day. In my free-time I love to train at the gym, and go for long forest runs. I also watch lots of anime and sometimes play online games. I also have huge intrest in avation. The music I listen to is pretty random (whatever resonates with me is good), however my favourite song is "Slump" by Stray Kids - it just hits different. I also really enjoy pencil drawing and learning to play my electric piano.
For the person I am looking for? I don't really know to be honest... I never really dated anyone to be able to figure that out. I think that I would want someone that wants to create that special connection with one another. The person that can chill at home and enjoy watching old comedy movie togther or go for hiking trip at some random place and enjoy every minute of trying to navigate the map. The relationship where we can support each other no matter circumstances and time of the day.
I guess I would want a person to navigate this world together with a smile on our faces all the time.
That's all, I might not be a poet but I really tried to write something sincere. I can send my handsome pictures if you ask nicely ;). And sorry for my english writing skills, who said basic grammar should be easy? Hope to hear from you!

2024.05.21 22:17 _syl___ Any suggestions for my build? I've been researching the past few days and this is the best I could come up with for a mid-high end build.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hg3g7R
I'd like to tap into the BuildaPC common wisdom to advise me on whether or not these parts are sensible, or if I've missed critical information.
A few pre-answers:
Nvidia edges out AMD for me purely for the DLSS and their software, as I've had quite some issues with my current AMD software.
The Intel unit seems like it's at the very least on par, if not better, than similar AMD units in it's price range, and I'd really rather not shell out more for a big boy x3d one.
What I would like it to be able to do
Play games like Warzone and RDR2 at over 120 fps at max settings at 1440p.
Still be good to play new games for at least 3-5 years ahead.
A medium amount of video editing.
Welcoming any suggestions, as I'd like to get the best machine for the price range.

2024.05.21 22:16 CautiousEmu5084 An autism diagnosis ruined my life

When I was 4, I received a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome, which marked the beginning of a steep decline in my life. Despite exhibiting typical speech development and lacking any recorded mental deficiencies, I was suddenly placed on IEP upon enrolling in elementary school. Despite having no prior history warranting such intervention, my parents, perhaps swayed by the promise of additional support, consented to this decision.
This marked a significant turning point in my life. The IEP meant extensive one on one teaching sessions outside the classroom, leading to profound feelings of isolation and alienation. Despite being a sociable child, I found myself increasingly segregated from my peers. Instances like being forcibly removed from class for minor incidents, such as telling a joke, only intensified my sense of otherness.
Despite lacking any behavioral or cognitive issues, the school's actions continued unabated, defended to my parents as necessary accommodations. This led to the humiliating publication of a news story, tarnishing my reputation from a young age. My parents, believing they were advocating for my best interests, unwittingly perpetuated this cycle of unnecessary intervention, further exacerbating my struggles.
This pattern persisted until I moved and enrolled in a new school, where the same cycle repeated itself. Despite my protests, I was once again assigned a TA and an IEP, further undermining my self esteem and hindering any chance of a normal childhood. The stigma attached to being labeled as having special needs haunted me throughout my education, impacting my social interactions and academic opportunities.
The constant barrage of medications and doctor appointments only added to my sense of disillusionment. By the age of 11, I had the clarity to stop the medication regimen, realizing its ineffectiveness. Despite the challenges, I managed to break free from the constraints imposed by the IEP and catch up academically, albeit without the support I was led to believe I needed.
My life was derailed by a system more concerned with budget allocations than individual needs, and by well meaning parents who fell prey to its machinations. It's a cynical cycle, where the ones meant to support end up perpetuating the very struggles they sought to alleviate.
I'm 16 now, and I'm still trying to undo the damage.

2024.05.21 22:16 ekim171 Why do I still suck at rl?

I peaked C2d2 in 2s and after getting pissed at toxic players as well as the mistakes I were making I just quit rl and uninstalled the game. Didn't even watch rl content on YouTube anymore. A couple of months later I decided to come back just to be reminded of why I quit in the first place.
Now of course I'm bound to be rusty after two months of not playing even in free play but what has always annoyed me is the pure bs that goes down in rl. Somehow players seem to beat me to every ball. Maybe I don't realise how close they are in the game but even the rare times I do get a clean beat over an oppo, I get bumped anyway. Not to mention the times when it looks like I am blocking the ball on my screen but I don't even get a pixel of a touch on the ball. Yet my oppos can block the ball nearly all the time.
And of course, my car seems to be bumped easily but oppo's car are made of steel so even if I get the bump, it does not affect them. Same with demos too, just somehow get demoed super easy but my car can hit them at supersonic and nothing happens. Or when a 50 happens it more often than not goes in the favour of the oppo and in the rare times I do win a 50 the ball doesn't bounce in a favourable way or oppos have a chance to get back which I get is likely down to me being slow.
I know this is just me sucking at the game but I'm at a loss on how to stop outplaying myself as I concede goals to people who I shouldn't be conceding to just because I somehow can't figure out if I'm blocking the ball or not. I want to enjoy the game again but there seems to be some rng shizzle going on that tilts me even though I know it's likely just me being crap at the game. But also there are times oppo's will do something super dumb and it'll work out for them.
Any tips to how to make the game fun again and/or improve at actually getting a block on the ball?

2024.05.21 22:15 Nicki_RapidfireGames Patch Notes 0.9

Patch notes 0.9

This update is another major milestone in Backpack Brawl’s short history. It adds a new Hero, Harkon the Barbarian, new Areas, 67 new items, and a whole slew of balancing changes.
Areas are our first pass at a new “soft story” of the player’s adventure through the game. In practice, it’s a way for us to unlock more items for you as you progress in the game, and to match-make you with opponents who have gotten to your level. Each area unlocks 4 new items for your pool of items, and adds craftable items beyond that.
We are making Harkon and Nymphedora paid heroes, as this is a way to make the game work long term for us. Eventually, their price will fall as we add more heroes.
We are experimenting with having a “free to play” rotation of heroes, such that you always have more than the always unlocked heroes (Ronan and Chana) to choose from. Our goal is to have many heroes and encourage as much build diversity as we can on different levels of skill and arenas.
We anticipate that this will be somewhat controversial, so please join our discord server and voice your opinion on it. No one wants to spend money, but for us to be able to continually support the game, we need to earn enough to make living wages. We hope we can strike a good balance.
We had intended to have a tutorial for this update, but that will have to wait for next time – too many things at the same time is impossible, so we pushed it for later.
