Any beginner ESL workbook for kids you recommend?
Some time ago I got the pdf versions of "Christopher Clark - Oxford Activity Books for Children" and I really like them. These books are really old and outdated I guess, but they've got a lot of pretty illustrations dedicated to simple grammatical structures and vocabulary. Also they are designed to be answered by coloring, matching pictures and phrases or drawing, so it's easy enough for very young learners. Are there any workbooks similar to these you know?

2024.05.19 16:13 Supatwat818 Day 6

I feel so much better!!! Anxiety is gone and I’m calm again. I get really bad anxiety and it’s so much worse when I drink.
I want to be alcohol free permanently, but in the past, I have always picked back up once I feel better, and then that starts the vicious cycle all over again.
I’m committed to this long term and just ordered a DBT workbook for addiction. I’m going to fess up to my psychiatrist too.
I don’t ever want to feel the way I felt the last day I drank.

2024.05.19 02:51 RaveLeo91 Recently diagnosed

I’ve been battling with anger and abandonment issues over the last year, thought maybe is just my major anxiety and severe depression but I always felt it was more than that. About 2 weeks ago, my fiancée lined up a lot of the things I’ve done between destructive behavior, anger outbursts, when I feel attacked-I attack back but try to cut deeper, can go from I love you so much to I hate you forever…… now that I’m starting DBT; had my meds adjusted and added a mood stabilizer. What can I do to reassure myself and my fiancée that I’m serious about getting my recent diagnosis under control??? I have a workbook that I need to keep diving into, I joined this support group, new meds and started DBT therapy but I fear it just won’t ever be enough…..

2024.05.18 22:16 SchrodingersMinou OCD/Health Anxiety resources

This is the text of the helpbot response which can be summoned by the automod on any post by commenting with the word “helpbot.” I’m posting it here to make it easier for new people to find.
Many people use this sub to seek reassurance for their fears. This is not helpful for managing a rabies phobia or obsession. OCD has a helpful page about reassurance-seeking.
Therapy and treatment are crucial to recover from OCD/health anxiety. Please don’t Google anything about bats or rabies but focus on accessing resources and recovering from your fears. You can check out OCD and HealthAnxiety for support and information. You can find a resource list here, which is geared towards relationship OCD but also includes a lot of information about OCD in general, including FAQs, workbooks, book recommendations, Youtube videos, apps, podcasts, and videos of kittens.
Here is a list of free crisis helplines around the world. Here is another crisis helpline directory that includes additional countries. In areas where 211 is available, dialing this number can connect you with mental health crisis services in your area or help you find where to seek immediate help in your area. If you're in the US, you can text "MHA" to 741-741 to have a text chat with a trained crisis counselor at the Crisis Text Line, or call 1-800-749-2673 for the NAMI Crisis Helpline.
You can ask your therapist if they have any workbooks or guides they can send you home with so that you can continue practicing and working on your therapy between sessions. For the time being, here's is a free workbook on anxiety and here is one on health anxiety. You can also download MindShift, a free app that uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy AKA CBT to help you learn to relax and be mindful, develop more effective ways of thinking, and use active steps to take charge of your anxiety.
If you don't have a therapist, you can use Psychology Today's Therapy Directory to search for mental health professionals in your area (worldwide). You can search by zip code, city, last name, etc. For each provider listed, you can read about their therapy approach, specialty areas, information about their fees including whether they accept insurance and whether they offer sliding scale fees. CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) therapy are often recommended approaches for treating OCD/health anxiety.
In the UK, you can find more info and refer yourself for therapy via NHS.
In India, you can call MPower Minds and request a referral to a therapist who treats OCD or who has experience with CBT therapy. Additional affordable mental health resource lists for India are here.
In the Philippines, you can call a crisis line by dialing 0995 356 5332. You can find a list of mental heath treatment centers here. For free mental health services and consultations, see the list here (halfway down the page).
If you're in the US, your local Mental Health America affiliate resource center is an excellent resource for information about local programs and services including affordable treatment services. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Health Information Network (SHIN) has a Mental Health Facilities Locator that can also help you find community outpatient, inpatient and residential treatment facilities, including affordable mental health services in your area.
For peer support in the US, including referrals to resources in your area, you can call 800-950-NAMI (6264), Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. — 10 p.m., ET, or send an email to info@nami.org. The NAMI HelpLine is a free, nationwide peer-support service providing information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public. NAMI also holds peer-led support groups in person across the US.

2024.05.18 21:20 mh142857k what can care coordinators do in CMHTs?

i have recently been assigned a care co and i met her last week. i have dx of schizoaffective disorder, autism and complex ptsd. i was recently sectioned and was assigned this care co upon discharge whom manages my depot.
it seems like i’m getting this care co on a longer term basis (1+ years), she suggested a cbt for psychosis workbook when i saw her but i already did the workbook with someone else when i was under a different CMHT within the same trust.
she’s seeing me every two weeks. i also see a private psychologist for trauma therapy weekly of which she’s aware of. my consultant psychiatrist thinks doing some DBT-based skills interventions with my care co maybe helpful to me but my psychologist thinks it’s not needed because i’m trained in DBT (i work in mental health) and i don’t have difficulties with emotional dysregulation etc.
my care co said she will consult the team regarding what else would be useful for her to do with me. my psychologist wants a meeting between us three so we can talk about my progress and plans going forward.
i work in mental health but i never worked community settings so i have no idea what care cos do in CMHTs? what can they help with and what do you discuss in sessions?
i thought maybe it would be good to build up a therapeutic relationship with her as i have been through so much trauma under mental health services which interferes with my engagement with them. it may good for someone within the system (eg CMHT) to know me well and know my triggers/signs, also how to respond in each stages. it was never possible in the past because all my previous care cos left in less than 4 months but this one said she’s not planning on going anywhere but idk if i can trust that cos turnover is so unpredictable in nhs teams.
if you had/have a care co in CMHT what and how did he/she help you? what did find most helpful from the contacts? were you able to build a working relationship?
soz for lots of questions. i was also looking at SCM which is a potentially a pathway under CMHT and was wondering if it can be adapted to help me with complex trauma especially a relational trauma associated with the mental health system.

FAQ:
Does anyone feel like they have lost their gag reflex? (Or vomit accidentally?)
They're 2 separate issues! ... this is a good resource to read but tl;dr
The more that we fiddle with the back of our throats, the more the pharyngeal + velar gag reflex becomes less sensitive. It's believed to be a learned response and a form of desensitization from years of gastric purging
The involuntary reflux/regurgitation is often due to weakening of the lower esophageal sphincter (the ring at the bottom of your esophagus that connects to the stomach). That sphincter is smooth muscle, meaning we can't voluntarily contract/control it. Hence why coughing/leaning oveeven lying down in sleep can cause the food to come up
Throwing up blood—do I need medical attention?
There are many reasons to throw up (or poop) blood if you're making yourself vomit or using laxatives. Most bleeding will heal with a few days of rest.
Signs you need a doctor ASAP include - pain, fainting or dizziness, coughing blood, vomiting more than a very small amount of blood (maybe a teaspoon), or bleeding that continues regularly (hasn't stopped after a few days).

2024.05.16 20:21 Educational_Half_406 Newly Diagnosed With BPD, Do You Feel Like Everything Is Your Fault?

Was recently diagnosed with quiet BPD by my therapist. Partner doesn't believe I have BPD (he says I don't have emotional "swings" but I know I do. They are all internal.) I am doing the DBT workbook and am noticing certain things. I take everything out on myself, and everything is internal.
We were supposed to visit family today, and my husband picked up a cold earlier this week. I ended up catching it. Now we can't see our little niece and I just started crying, blaming myself feeling like a horrible person. I had a huge emotional swing, just breaking down loads of dispair. Kept saying "I ruined it." I went to the extreme where I blamed myself for getting in the way of my husband connecting with his family, and I felt like he should leave me. I felt like I ruined everything.
My husband called my mother-in-law and she was so sweet, telling me it wasn't my fault. She was so understanding. Spoke to my own father - he told me to go and expose an infant otherwise I would be offending my in-laws. So his comments didn't help. Working on dialing down relationship with parents due to the part they played in this diagnosis.
Emotionally regulating is really hard. Am trying to use my "wise mind" to understand that I just caught a virus and wasn't doing anything wrong to take my husband from his family, yet this all still feels like my fault. I still blame myself.
My mother in law kept asking me "why are you sorry? You're sick! It's okay." This is just so hard. My world has been rocked by this diagnosis and sometimes I wonder if I'll ever recover and not blame myself for everything/think I am deeply defective and an evil human being all the time. It's even harder with the situation with my family.
Does anybody have any advice on how to not constantly blame yourself for everything and feel defective/like you should just be alone so you don't hurt anyone?

2024.05.16 08:35 Key-Ladder1827 Taking DBT seriously

I have always tried to practice dbt but I’m now currently trying to practice it much more deliberately and often. I’m doing this with a workbook and YouTube as for me, this feels much more helpful than with multiple therapists I’ve seen. I also see a therapist but my dbt work is kind of something I like to practice alone.
So my question is, how do you guys stay consistent? I’ve currently got reminders in my room, I am going well on using skills, kinda building my “toolbox” for when disaster strikes, but I fear something will come up and I will go completely off the rails with it.
What has helped you keep consistency when times get really tough?

2024.05.15 09:00 Pomard Export sheets to pdf

Hello guys.
I have a code that creates X amount of sheets based on the amount of unique parts in a purchase order. Each sheet is limited to 50 units of that unique part, so if one part has over 50 units, it will create 2 sheets for that part, and will be named consecutively (For example: Nut, Nut (2), Nut (3), Bolt, Bolt (2), Bolt (3)).
I want to export every one of the sheets that refer to a unique part to a pdf file, which I accomplished with the folowing code:
For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets ws.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:= ws.Name & ".pdf" Next
Now, for the parts that have more than one sheet, it will create one pdf for each one, and I will have to fuse them later in acrobat.
Is there a way to check if there's more than one sheet that contains the same part (that information is present both in the name of the sheets and the content of it) in order to export those to only one pdf? I still want to export the parts that will have only one sheet, just to group the ones that refer to the same part.
