2024.05.21 23:21 daisypeterpan I have a Job interview for pharmacy technician, what should I except?

I've been a pharmacy technician at walgreens for 3 years however I had to leave for personal reasons like a health issue that is resolved now. Anyways it's only been about a month since I worked in walgreens and i got a job interview in cvs. I decided not to go back to walgreens for many reasons. What should i expect at my interview at cvs? What kind of questions will be asked?
Also please don't say to not go, at this point I can't afford to be without a job as my bills are piling up.

2024.05.21 22:20 Dangerous-Plant3757 what kind of schools should i look at?

hi everybody! like most current juniors i am starting the college search/list building and was looking for some guidance on what sort of schools i should be looking at! i want to ideally major in pre-pharmacy/physiology
here is my demographics and stats:
demographics: - white female - MA resident, dual-citizen - medium/high income, immigrant family - small, mid-ranked private school
stats: - 3.88 UW/4.7 W - 1380 sat (will retake in august) - top 5 in class of ~50 - full IB diploma candidate (HL maths, biology, english. SL economics, french, world religions) - 2 years of student government—> my role was/is facilitating communication between administration and the student body and running the school’s instagram - 3 years of being a school admissions ambassador—> toured prospective students and families, helped run events such as open houses etc. - 3 years worked as a gymnastics coach for children between the age of 6-12 (used to be nationally ranked gymnast but quit 3 years ago, but received many awards for achievement and sportsmanship) - 3 years of varsity basketball, one as captain - 1 year worked at starbucks - (hopefully) will work over the summeschool year as a pharmacy technician in a local pharmacy - around 100 hours of volunteer hours between various organizations - organized a fundraiser (raised 1k so far) for helping low-income individuals pay the co-pays for prescription medications
and a few other random clubs/insignificant ecs (im aware my ecs are somewhat lacking for top tier universities)
also worth noting that i will have very strong rec letters from bio and english teachers!
thank you!!

2024.05.21 20:11 Photononic Wife got a new job. No bingos allowed by company policy!

I brought my wife to the USA back in 2018. We met in Asia. I am a tall California born German-American, and she is Burmese. We both look "baby making age" even though we are both 58.
She has had had various part time jobs because her degree in bio-chemistry from Burma (Myanmar) does not count here in the USA.
I recently got downsized (thanks to Elon Musk). I am waiting on the right job, so she took a full time job as a pharmacy technician.
At every job she got asked the same gambit of questions that people seldom or never ask in Burma, Singapore, or Thailand. She was shocked that so many Americans openly speak of such things with strangers.
How long have you been married?
What is your religion?
How many kids?
When will you have a baby?
Did your husband have children before you met?
How did you come to be in the USA?
Is your husband a liberal or conservative?
Company policy prohibits asking questions about lifestyle, politics, religion, marital status, ethnics, and so on during work hours. Yayyyy!

2024.05.21 17:43 mumblestheword I’m a pharmacy technician

The other day the pharmacist on duty was commenting about being healthy and how a certain medication required you to eat a lot of food. My immediate question was, “Is it Latuda?” She responded with the generic, calling it lurasidone. But I thought it was funny that I immediately recognized it since I’ve been on it before 😅
And yes, I do not get my meds at the pharmacy I work at… no need to let my coworkers know I’m on medication to treat bipolar disorder 🙃

2024.05.21 17:18 kaelvs_xiv Going on 30, need advice to pivot career to something sustainable for goals

Hey there! I've been reading through this sub for a bit, and thought I'd give it a shot.
Past:
I graduated in 2018 with a BS in Biology, minors in Chemistry and Social Science. I originally wanted to be an MD, but couldn't afford it at the time. I had a pharmacy technician certification, and have been using it ever since. Unfortunately due to recent health circumstances, I'm no longer able to hold retail positions as the physical strain significantly impacted the rest of my life; for one 8hr shift, I would require at least 2 full days of rest for the inflammation in my joints to calm. This means anything going forward must be remote or sedentary.
Current: I've been researching pivoting into tech careers, and heard mixed sentiments: available certifications don't really get you in the door, pivoting is difficult to land without major experience, etc etc. I considered Project Management for a while, as I prefer to be a generalist, hopping from interest to interest. I got the two starter Scrum certifications: PSM-I and CSM, took the Google Project Management course, and am casually studying for the CAPM. All this has taught me is that I really don't like the responsibility and stress of project management, but I think I could be good at it. Maybe I'm not giving it enough chance, or maybe by continuing I'm falling for the sunk-cost fallacy.
Future Goals: Very high salary and career achievement isn't a significant priority. I don't have many needs, am minimalist, and only need to support myself and my cat. I have no debts. I don't want children, however with the cost of living how it is, I know it's imperative I eventually be making at or above $100k USD for future goals. I'd like to eventually make enough to be able to take care of my aging parents(60s) who have adopted my estranged brother's child (5yo). Although my ideal lifestyle would be to save/invest enough to fund building a family compound, I know this is a stretch.
Target lifestyle:
Comments:
What I need help with most is to sort through all the possibilities and narrow down potential options. I've looked at a lot: Data analysis, UX/UI design, Project management, AI&Machine learning, SEO and digital marketing, java developer, QA engineering, COMPTIA certs, cybersecurity, pen testing, AWS, cloud engineering, database admin...it's a long list that goes on, and I'm having trouble figuring out something that will fit.
I wish apprenticeships and shadowing were still available options. I feel like I don't have a good conceptual understanding of what each position/training stack entails, its difficulty level, and how it would fit into my goals, so I can't make an informed choice. Experience in each would help me determine that, but I don't have that kind of time.
Any other non-tech but remote suggestions are also welcome! Perspective would really be helpful. Thanks all!

2024.05.21 16:24 Turkeypharm Help deciding what to do…

Obligatory NAN. I’m 35- college drop out, starting back to school for my AA to at least get something. I’ve worked as MANY things- phlebotomist, pharmacy technician, janitor, disability services (group home type), currently a teacher associate in an elementary. When I started back to college in January, my end goal was special education (severe disability). I’m not sure what I want to do now. I have 5 years in to working at an elementary school. I keep going back to health care, but idk what in healthcare. Probably not APP. This is part of why I flunked out 15 years ago, I didn’t have an end goal- can’t decide what I want to do/be. I’m struggling choosing something I want to do for the next 30 years before retirement! I have a soon to be 7th grader and kindergarten kids, so it needs to be family friendly-ish and honestly more money than what I get now! Kids are expensive! Healthcare is ALWAYS something I’ve been interested in since young- I used to watch Rescue 911, Trauma Life in the ER, and all the other medical shows. I SUCK at math, I worry about not being able to hear for taking blood pressures. Education in my state is going down hill fast and I really don’t think I have 30 more years in me as a teacheteacher aid! But I know that the grass is not greener on the other side, and to me to an extent the known is better than the unknown! Please tell me the good, bad and give me your insight!
