The book of Genesis is an introduction to – The current Heavens and earth

• “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1 BSB

Our Sovereign God knew that the Heavens and earth would involve an – Ongoing fight between darkness and light
Therefore, He introduced us to this reality, from the very beginning:
Darkness,

• “Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” – Genesis 1:2 BSB

Light,

• “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” – Genesis 1:3 BSB

However, the day will come when – The current Heavens and earth will cease to exist

• “Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them.” – Revelation 20:11 BSB

Then, God will introduce us to – The New Heavens and New Earth
And, once again our Sovereign God knows exactly what it will be like. Therefore, He chooses an introduction that best explains what our new home will be like. So, the wording below is like the Genessis 1:1-3 of the new order:

• “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.” – Revelation 21:1 BSB

From this we learn, that this New Heaven is a singular Heaven, not plural as the Heavens in Genesis 1:1. We also learn that this New Earth will not require any sea.
Then, John saw,

• “The holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” – Revelation 21:2 BSB

From this we learn, that God the Father dwells in the New Heaven. That the New Jerusalem will descend from Heaven to earth. For, it is prepared as a bride for her husband.
Then, John heard,

• “A loud shout from the throne, saying; Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.” – Revelation 21: 3 BSB

From this we learn, that a voice from the Throne is letting us know, that from now on, God will dwell among His people! So, it seems that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit will be there with everyone.
We also know from scripture. That,

• “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” – Isaiah 65:17 BSB

From this we learn, that things from our past will no longer be remembered or even come to mind.
Moreover,

• “Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 BSB

From this we learn, that we can’t see clearly enough to express what it will be like. But when we are there, it will all be very clear.
Furthermore,

• “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9 BSB

From this we learn, that – It will be far beyond what we can now comprehend

As someone who was born and raised in the uk I can understand how people as a base instinct would root for Israel, as a teenager I saw posts on social media about Palestinian oppression and started sharing them. I was told off by my mum, my posts all got removed and when I asked a teacher about it in school they told me being anti Zionist was anti semitic, everything I saw in the news was pro Israel and labelling Palestine as a terrorist state. I have some Jewish roots so have always been raised with an awareness of antisemitism, my mum taught me about the holocaust as well as other things like South Africa’s apartheid. However the one thing I can’t understand is how people are not only still siding with Israel but not actively doing their best to show support and join Palestinian demonstrations. I can see how people would start with Israel but not how people can still be actively supporting a genocide. I just have questions because I still can’t understand how you can see what’s going on and think that it’s alright.
1.) what entitles Israel to forcefully remove civilians from their homes? 2.) what entitles Israel to commit ecocide which almost exclusively harms civilians? (which they have done en mass. According to many sources.) 3.) If you support Israel do you also support the US and UK invasions in the Middle East? 4.) Do you see Palestinian infants as terrorists and how can you justify the deaths of so many children? 5.) What is your opinion on the constant use of drones simply to make noise with the purpose of depriving everyone in Gaza of sleep (which is a common torture method and goes against the Geneva convention) 6.) have you seen the videos from Palestinian content creators like Motaz Azaiza and if so what is your opinion to seeing content like babies being pulled out of rubble? 7.) How is a state that excludes people from living in areas, walking down certain streets and restricting basic human rights and access to water, electricity and food not an apartheidal regime? (All against the Geneva convention.) 8.) why is the reaction to October 7th so disproportionate? 9.) Do you realise that Hamas only exists as a result of Palestinian oppression? 10.) Do you know that the amount of people detained by Israel without trial or charges even just currently; dwarfs the amount of hostages taken by hamas? 11.) What’s the justification behind videos (which are for the most part proven to be untampered) of Israeli snipers, tanks and soldiers firing at and killing children, unarmed civilians literally holding white flags as well as clearly marked vehicles carrying aid workers. 12.) How can you see pictures and videos of entire cities reduced to rubble and think that’s ok as a military act? 13.) Do you respect the amount of articles of the Geneva convention Israel has broken as a legitimate response to October 7th and if so at what point did these actions become justified for you? 14.) what makes terrorists worse than an army systematically committing the same atrocities on a much larger scale? 15.) Do you realise that the nations that support you are mostly doing so against the wishes of their citizens to support the war economy. (Check novaramedia for their polls they’ve reported them on most of the biggest financing countries including the Uk and US according to entirely trusted sources.) 16.) Why are Hamas so much more willing to enter negotiations and why are Israel so resistant to them. 17.) Do you think Israel should be going further? 18.) And lastly at what point is it too far for you?
P.S I am not writing this to bait anyone and my position has been formed from a standpoint that has started out pro Israeli and was neutral until late 2021. I stand with the Palestinians from a country that not only has heavily supported Israel for years but was a key part of its formation, I have formed my opinion based on the facts of what I’ve seen despite being raised entirely to the contrary. (Also my mum is currently watching a documentary on the nakba, she also now firmly supports Palestine having raised me in a household that believed in Zionism.)

Hi I (24F) have a friend (28F) who we are calling Brook for this story. A few months back Brook found out she was pregnant from a hookup she had with a 19 year old male. She claims they used protection and blames him for her being pregnant, when she has confided in a few friends that she never uses condoms ever. Now one thing to know about Brook is that she's 28 and graduated high-school when she was 21. She has a very childish mind due to some suspected mental disabilities, but it was never said out loud. She's only had 2 jobs in her life and was fired from both, not even spending 2 years at each. She has anger issues and sits in front of the computer all day. She's a sweetheart and I love her to death, but I am VERY worried about the future with this child. Father wants nothing to do with the child and she doesn't have a job, her license, and no insurance. She's never babysat children to my knowledge and has never been around kids consistently of small ages other than school. I have worked in childcare and know what is needed and she has nothing. She's a bigger girl and always has been, but never works to change it and there's already been worry from the doctors about diabetes and pre-eclampsia. She has done nothing to change it. She has few dogs and cats as well and the house is a mess. Like you can only walk in certain parts of the house. The house stinks of old animal waste and a hint of ammonia and the fact a child will live there scares me. The real issue is that she isn't doing anything to get her shit straight for when this kids gets her. Won't try to get her license, hasn't filled out job applications, and hasn't been working to clean the house. Another thing to note is that I and other have been pushing her to get stuff prepped and she just sits on her computer all day and eats. Another thing to add is when Brook has her mind on something you cannot change it. Like at all. She's been talking names since she's 20 weeks and the gender reveal is soon and the names picked out are a whole nother problem, most importantly the girl name. The character, if you look up the name, is a black monkey from a kids show she watched as a kid. Did I mention that the baby is half black? And that Brook is white? Yeah. We told her how bad that is and now she refuses to talk baby names with us and we are doing our best to be supportive, but everyone except me seems to be sugar coating and babying her because she's a single mom and how she is. A friend and I are already planning to have a talk and I hope it sticks, but knowing how she is… I don't see her changing sadly. I know she's my friend, but this is a child that she wants and I just want her to raise the baby with everything it will need and to have a healthy environment. I've tried my hardest to help, but I'm really thinking she needs a dose of reality. Is there anything I can do other than call CPS for resources to help her realize?

I’ll try to keep this short. Me and my 2 bestfriends (one of my business partner was also married at that time) started a business together five years ago. It was a small food kiosk business that we didn’t expect much of.
Fast forward to a year ago, we we’re able to transition to a full restaurant and was making profits na talaga.
We are now all married, our husbands offered us if they franchise our business and open another branch in a mall. Took us one year to negotiate the spot we wanted and finally we have been awarded with a lease contract from the mall.
Business permit is still under my business partner’s single name. On the verge na pala yung isang partner ko filling for annulement. It’s been messy and ugly for the both of them kasi may sumbatan na sa mga pera and businesses they have.
My question is, is it okay if we do not continue with the business venture with the husbands and decide that us, the original owners will continue with this venture with ourselves nalang? Or is it morally wrong to cut out the estranged husband of our partner? No contracts have been signed, just purely verbal lahat. Parang ayaw ko na kasi cause I handle operations and medyo naguguluhan na ako sa estranged husband kasi sya yung hurt and medyo unstable talaga yung mga actions nya Side naman sa mga ibang husbands, including mine they’re fine with not pushing through with the venture.

Intro/Question:

Let me just start out by saying that I’ve been on here for a little while and have admired not only the persistence, dedication, and grit of the women on here, but also the kindness and support in comparison to other groups. I wish I could give/get hugs from you all because a lot of you seem like such wonderful people, and I could really use some of that kindness in my life at the moment.
Now, I guess I’ll get right into my reason for posting this: I’d love some advice/insight/thoughts from y’all on recommendations for my next steps in this career transition towards software development because I’ve been struggling for awhile with finding a FT or even PT role.
Throughout this time, my mental health has also declined greatly (while on this journey, I’ve actually started antidepressant medication for the first time ever because my mental health has exponentially decreased, and have also seen a few different therapists in the same span of time).

VERY brief overview of my journey thus far:

Early Education: Growing up in a predominantly white community outside the main city, I was put into ESL classes despite being born in the U.S. I'm Latina, and my parents--who knew little English at the time--agreed with everything the educators suggested. This meant I was often taken out of critical science and math classes to make time for ESL work. Despite being a straight-A student, I had to work harder than others, and I believe this was one reason why.About a year and a half ago, I was diagnosed with combined ADD/ADHD. As a kid, it often took me longer to complete my work. My parents noticed but assumed it was just the way I functioned. My mom often recounted how I needed a "million" breaks while doing homework, which often led to late nights. Despite these struggles, I managed to stay on top of my studies.
Undergrad Education (2015 - 2019): I am a first-gen college grad and earned a bachelors in biochem & environmental science summer 2019. I discovered computer science during my junior year of college (by then, it was too late to take more courses in CS let alone attempt to make a switch without staying an extra year, which my scholarships would not cover). After graduating college, I was still interested in learning more about CS, so I took an Introduction to Programming in C course at my local community college, and not only earned an A, but also thoroughly enjoyed the content.
Grad School (Spring 2022): Enrolled in an online Masters in CS at Case Western Reserve University for those without CS degrees with a $30,000 grant from the dept. Took Discrete Mathematics and Algorithms & Data Structures in Java (those of us w/o a CS degree had to pass these before being able to move into the rest of the program where we’d be merged with those who DID have CS degrees), but paused due to my younger brother's unexpected passing.
Bootcamp (Fall 2022): Received a full-ride scholarship to a bootcamp (1/15 out of 1200 applicants accepted) where I learned full-stack development with Python, JavaScript, SQL, Flask, AJAX, and React, among other technologies. Graduated December 2022.
Further Learning (Spring/Summer 2023): Accepted into Code the Dream’s React course, dedicating over 20 hours per week to mastering React all while volunteering to work on open-source projects.
Internship (Fall 2023 - Present): I was interning at an early-stage Ed Tech startup up until the end of April, contributing to building an app from the ground up. I Gained experience in code writing/reviewing, CI/CD methodology, technical communication, and working on a software development team along with other teams like the content team and design team.

Struggles/Thoughts:

I have been consistently applying for FT/PT roles, internships, etc. with nothing but maybe 4 interviews since graduating from my bootcamp. In addition, I’ve been tweaking my resume for jobs that I feel I could be a particularly good candidate for using Jobscan with no luck.
With regards to the startup, they’ve informed me that they do not have sufficient funding to bring me on. Furthermore, about a month after the internship contract officially ended, the other female intern (graduated from the same bootcamp, although different cohorts) at the startup also let me know that she was being brought on again for an extended contract, and asked if I was offered the same—to which I replied that no, I wasn’t. I guess she also has an associates in CS, which also helps and I am not mad at her for anything and support her and uplift her, but as you can imagine, I am a little disappointed (more in myself than anything, I guess). It just makes me feel a bit crushed. I made myself always available (even after hours), replied quickly, got along super well with everyone, got my tasks all done for the most part. ==> Towards the end, I was tasked with a particularly difficult task, and was able to get through a good chunk of a new game, but was not able to fully finish. During this period, I was also struggling to get ahold of my ADHD meds, but they seemed to be out of stock everywhere, so that also didn't help.

Next steps:

I’m debating whether I should just keep applying, find some other program (AS/BS/MS), or just stop this trajectory altogether (although, I REALLY hope that I won’t have to because it would probably break me 😔).
I know that my math skills probably aren’t on par with those of others in the field, and I know that I need to work on those as well, so if you have any suggestions for free resources for that/what I should focus on with regards to teaching myself these concepts I’d also really appreciate it. I'm currently taking the Harvard CS50 course for credit as well as a Mathematics for Machine Learning course on Coursera (they state that this is for people of all math levels).
I’ve learned a lot and am passionate about continuing to grow as a software engineedeveloper. Any advice on next steps, opportunities, etc. that you feel may be relevant would be greatly appreciated. Thank you SO much if you read this far! 🫶

When I was young I wanted to sacrifice my life for God, the Prophet , the Ummah (community), for Pakistan & the Muslims & this is how everyone in my family felt as well, but particularly my Dad & uncles (ours was a Pakistan Air Force family).
I would cry over the massacre of Muslims of Amritsar at the hands of the idolaters & I wept over the persecution of Muslims in India & Palestine & Bosnia & Kashmir etc. It was good to be in love & to feel so strongly for others. The Imam at the Masjid would always say we Muslims were one body, if anyone felt any pain everyone felt their pain.
Then I came to the US & I observed a people far more beautiful, loving, enlightened, blessed. With time & distance my love for Pakistan & Islam diminished & I felt like I was no longer alive.
The white Christians & the people of the US are far more beautiful, kind, enlightened, loving & easy to love. I tell myself that just for encountering such a peoples & for being around them I must love them forever. I tell them that but I do not feel that same intensity of love, that strong emotion & that desire to sacrifice everything for them, except maybe briefly a while back for the white Anglo-Saxon Christians (now a days I am not even feeling the same emotions for Pakistan, unfortunately). I say I love with the hope that one day that feeling will return but I don't really feel it.
I wrote to say that being a patriot & a good, devoted Muslim or Christian (or Jew or being part of the Aale-Ibrahimi or family of Hazrath Ibrahim SW) is a reward & a blessing. Those of you who feel like you could sacrifice your life for your country, your God & what is right are truly blessed, alive & fortunate.
I wish we fall in love with what is right & good & defend & exalt & promote what is right & good.

I wish we fall in love with a nation worth of falling in love with. You don't want to be like the Japanese trying to expand the Japanese empire because they are under the illusion that they are similar to , equal to or better than white European peoples. Love means choosing what is best for your beloved, even if the person who is best is not you. There is an Indian movie that my mom showed us when we were very young. It is called Saajan. In the movie Salman Khan's character is in love with Madhuri Dixit's character, Madhuri Dixit's character is in love with Sanjay Dutt's character. Salman Khan pretends to be a poet laying claim to poetry written by Sanjay Dutt. Madhuri Dixit is actually in love with Sanjay Dutt the poet. Salman Khan's character loves Madhuri Dixit's character so much that he is willing to pretend to be Sanjay Dutt, the poet. In the end Salman Khan realizes that if he truly loves Madhuri Dixit's character he must let her choose by letting her be with the person she fell in love with (i.e. Sanjay Dutt's character, the poet). Of course its an Indian movie so Sanjay Dutt's character has a limp & the movie ends with Madhuri Dixit's character being left with Sanjay Dutt, while Salman Khan leaves with a sad chuckle.
What should have happened is this, IF the movie was made by Pakistanis or white peoples: Salman Khan's character leaves Madhuri Dixit with Sanjay Dutt's character but Madhuri Dixit realizes she wants both inner & outer beauty & chooses Salman Khan's character because Salman Khan's character is both healthy (does not have a limp) & by setting Madhuri Dixit free & by suppressing jealousy Salman Khan has shown that he is beautiful from the inside too. Or better yet they could heal Sanjay Dutt's character's limp (like Hazrath Eisa SW & Hazrath Ilyas SW & Hazrath Muhammad SAW healed the lame & disabled to wholeness & health & beauty) & show that Salman Khan has a talent for poetry too & everyone can be beautiful both inside & outside & then Ms. Dixit can have two people to choose from (both equally gorgeous) & we could then introduce another female lead so whoever is not chosen also gets a gorgeous lover.
Love means setting our beloved free to let them be with the best candidate. So I ask you the gentle reader: who do you love & who is the best person to love them?
Who is Best Suited for the Lands
In my humble opinion the best people to love anyone are the white anglo saxon Christians: they are the healthiest & smartest & nicest & most confident & selfless of peoples. If I love Pakistan or the Holy Land or any person I would rather they be with the best peoples possible.
Ask yourself this: India was once ruled by our British white Christian cousins who are good or better at nearly everything. Why did we fight the British only to have the lands end up under the rule of misguided, unattractive idolaters (who are once too often worse than even us )? Because we resisted British rule today Muslims are getting oppressed in India by idolaters. Would it not have been better if we had strengthened the hand of the British Empire so India does not fall to the misguidance of idolaters?
The Muslims of Kashmir deserve better than the rule of idolaters. Would it not be better for them if they were under British rule ? because it seems we cannot or will not liberate them. Would it not be better if Kashmir was under Jewish & Israeli rule since it seems the Jews are smarter, prettier & are better for a land than our own peoples?
So is it love to die for the Emperor & for Japan to spread the Japanese empire? No of course not. The Japanese are not good for their own lands & each other even today when they are economically & financially well off. Japan would be better off under Christian European or British or German rule. But do the Japanese know that it is not love? I believe they are smart enough to figure this out.
TLDR:
those who feel like they can sacrifice their lives & feel intense love for Pakistan, Allah SWT are truly fortunate.

Who would be best for Kashmir & India & China & Japan & other unhappy & oppressed parts?

There's one guy who shows up to every single show I see in town. He's always dressed in the same outfit: navy t-shirt, exercise shorts, stripey white tube socks to his knees, sandals. Even though his shirt is dark and it's dark on the dance floor, you can see massive sweat stains under his pits. You smell him before you see him. To me, BO usually has a flat scent but this guy's smell actually stings your eyes. Like ammonia.
He has zero friends but is always dancing up to groups of us, especially if there are fewer men than women. He's ALWAYS hitting on women twenty years younger than him. He tries doing this impromptu ecstatic dance stuff and roping you into it but he stinks so badly that you can watch people turn and walk away from him all night. After this happens a half dozen times he jumps up on the stage and bothers the DJ.
If I lived anywhere else, I'd assume he was mentally ill, but I think he's just from the dark side of woo and festival culture. I really wish my scene did a better job tracking and bouncing folks like that. My town's not big and problem actors are known, and yet this dingus shows up everywhere I go.
Bonus: Ginger trust fund festival wook who dresses in hypebeast clothes. He has an ugly scraggy beard and is always fucked up on ket. The last time I saw him he showed me a chain of ball bearings he had wrapped around his fist for some reason. I looked down and saw that he pissed himself. Again, this guy is at every party I go to and I have no idea why people keep letting him in.

I'm 34 years F. I have never been in a serious relationship in so long, as in my first serious relationship was when I was 25 and I broke it off a year after. After that, I liked a guy but he lied to me and was engaged. And then after that, I met this guy whom I really liked when I was 30 years old (he is I think 3 years older than me) and he ghosted me for a while because he was "depressed" even though I liked him so much back then and wanted a relationship with him. To cut the long story short, I always had feelings I don't understand for him because he was always available for me after the first crappy year of our relationship (whatever it is) and we were friends with benefits until end of 2022. After that, we became just purely and strictly friends since then as I asked for that from him. I always felt comfortable being with him as in he was the comfort zone, especially that he was the first kind man to me after a bunch of shitty men, but I knew we could never be gf/bf because we have different beliefs and he never wanted anything serious with me, plus he didn't address my needs even as friends.
I also had other casual relationships that meant nothing but I feel I used all these relationships just as a bandaid on my deteriorating mental health. I then started going for therapy and getting a bit better, and in November last year 2023, I met an amazing man (38 M years old) whom I fell inlove with. He made it clear from the beginning that he is serious and wants a relationship that could lead to marriage with me. We are still dating since then and I feel he is the one. I cut off all my other relationships even when him and I were just beginning to be friends and I told this other guy that I'm in a relationship and he was understanding.
However, lately, he started sending me texts during celebrations as in happy bla bla and I would reply a day or two after.
I freaked out and talked to my therapist about the possibility of having lingering feelings, but she thinks it's just the comfort since I have had a hard time being in a real relationship especially that I still don't and know if I want kids with my bf when we get married or not and because I have been so used to the highs and lows of past relationshios. She also said the way I talk about my bf always shows how much I love him. I truly feel I love him so much that us not ending up together would break me.
But I don't understand why I feel bad for wanting to cut that guy off my life completely. I don't want to ever hurt my bf and even if God forbid I don't end up marrying my bf, I don't think still being friends with this guy is the right thing to do. What do I do? How to explore my feelings and understand why I feel bad for cutting this friend off my life? I even felt sorry for him when he was telling me that he just hopes I'm alright and happy... like wth is wrong with me!

I have learned so much from you guys here in here. I work a call center job from home and put lives on sometimes to listen to while I work cases.
The dog piling in her lives is insane. I find myself screaming at my phone. I know it’s been said in here, but how is she trying to educate when she acts how she acts? I was listening to her live yesterday when a girl was so to speak ‘in the middle’ you know, she could see both sides.
I have a 17 year old bonus daughter, an aunt, a little brother, best friends who are LGBTQ, I vote/lean democratic, but I do not get into politics. But please please please educate me if I am wrong for saying this: why can’t someone be in the middle? Why does she and panel either say ‘you’re with us or you’re against us. You can’t be in the middle.’ Life is full of gray, it’s not black and white. I consider myself an ally.

It’s finally done, I applied/filled N-400 on my own but the rest (L1 visa, Adjustment, GC) was done with a lawyer.
Mariage based, LPR since May 2019 (L1-A before that). I applied under the 5y rule, because I was in the middle of a divorce during the application and didn't want to apply earlier under the 3y rule and become ineligible if the divorce was official before the interview.
Here is my timeline: - Feb 19: Online application - Feb 19: N-400 received - April 8: Interview scheduled (Newark, NJ) - May 21: Interview and same-day oath ceremony
Appointment/Day of (Newark Field Office): - 8:45: appointment time/check-in - 9:10: called to meet my case officer (very friendly) - 9:35: appointment is over - 10:35: called for oath ceremony (first of the morning, 50 participants… probably why we waited a bit) - 11am: all set.
The appointement with the case officer went very smoothly, she was very nice. We went through the following: - ID verification, photo, fingerprint - Swearing to tell the truth - Civics + reading/writting test - Reviewing the application (in my case she updated marital status) - Questions (have you? do you?) - Signatures
Civics questions: - 51. What are 2 rights of everyone living in the US? - 44. What is the capital of your state? - 59. Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? - 78. Name one war fought by the US in the 1900s. - 3. The idea of self government is in the first 3 words of the constitution. What are these words? - 86. What major event happened on Sept 11, 2001 in the US?
Reading test: "Where is the White House" Writing test: "the White House is in Washington DC"

reached out to my ex after 5 weeks of breakup because he unblocked 2.5 weeks after breaking up with me… i just wanted to ask him if there was any hope for us in the future… i poured my heart into it. i kept holding onto this false hope since he unblocked me. i told myself whatever his answer was, will help me move on. ended up getting left on seen and blocked again. i think that’s my answer. i kind of feel relieved and now i killed that hope that i had inside of me. going to finally move on and heal from this trauma. you can read my previous posts for insight into my relationship, but basically i was treated like shit when all i ever did was love him and show him love. being treated like shit while your heart is pure sucks. at least the hope i had inside is gone now. he always ran away whenever things got hard and stressful and left me anxious and sad all the time. i fought till the end for our relationship, and it’s clear that he wanted nothing to do with it anymore.
lesson: don’t hold onto hope. hope is dangerous. if they regretted their decision and still wanted to be with you, they would’ve already done that by now.

I’ve never been a “girlfriend guy”, if you know what I mean. I’ve always had an independent streak, and no problem being alone. My past relationships didn’t exactly blossom. Love and vulnerability are scary. Recently, I’ve discovered something scarier: loneliness.

Anyway, I got the song stuck in my head and really started listening to the lyrics. Then I realized, after learning about Reece and Steve's time on the dole (interview here - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=toH_GNuWgxE) that it was probably a favourite song of theirs during that time.
The time they spent on the dole inspired the play they were writing which included the character Pauline and eventually turned into the Tom & Gerri episode. They were sharing a flat, prior to the production of League of Gentlemen, and they said that it was rather miserable and they spent a lot of time playing board games "...drained of all their life energy." "Can't be bothered to leave the flat," "What's it worth going out for?"
George Michael wrote the song because he was given an ultimatum from his father "get yourself a job or get out of this house." He rapped about "the joys of living every day to the fullest, reveling in unemployment and celebrating government assistance."
So then, I can just imagine, Reece and Steve in their dingy little flat, on the dole, Reece just got back from being told he's dolescum by someone resembling "Pauline," and they're sitting down to play a game of Escape from Colditz. (Has anyone played this by the way!? I imagine Reece as the Security Officer and Steve as the Escape Officer!) Furthermore, in this game there is such a thing as a "Do or Die" card (interestingly named, for someone to be playing this while on the dole). Anyway, after playing their game, I imagine them feeling glum, and then one of them puts on Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do) and they both start ironically singing and dancing to it.
Isn't it wonderful, when you really think about it, how those difficult and "miserable" times led to the masterpieces we cherish today? Their struggles and their perseverance through adversity were not in vain. Instead, these challenging periods gave rise to works of art that continue to inspire and move us.
This realization serves as a poignant reminder that even in the darkest chapters of our lives, there lies an opportunity for growth and transformation. Here's a fun topic. Things that are loved for thier low quality.
Black metal is one of the most varied genres of metal music. One of the core characteristics of black metal is it's lo-fi audio quality. Cause the progenitors of the genre had poor audio recording equipment. Some sub genres of black metal take this to the extreme and make it the main aspect of their sound.
It'a not really a well defiened genre but generally the majority of the bands with this voice fall under Atmospheric Black Metal.
The main characteristic of this style are: shrill vocals, blast beat drums, distoreted guitars, melodic and repeating tunes, the aggressive and edgy black metal lyrics and themes and dooooog shit audio quality.
Seriously it sounds like the band recorded their album on a 2000 Nokia while standing twently feet away.
And you know what? This music RULES. I listen to it all the time when I'm drawing or painting or need something to play in the background like white noise. Except it's more pleasant cause occasionaly you hear the shifts in music. It's like hearing a band perform in a neighbouring apartment. I put an album or two and go through them without noticing it's great.

As the title says. We are planning to downside the number of cars we have and get something with a bit of luxury (i have a gt3, m2 comp, new civic, and she has a 2019 tlx aspec. We would sell the M2 and her TLX for this vehicle). This car would be primarily for my wife who goes to the office one day a week and for me to use sometimes for work on the bad winter days.
Her main criteria is that it has to be an SUV, pano roof, japanese or euro. We will also use this for occasional road trips from the midwest to the coasts a couple times a year.
we dont care about sportiness or space. We don't have kids.
So far we have test driven a few cars:

1. X3 M40i --- we both liked it on the test drive. B58 and ZF8 are the highlights compared to the competition. power is very impressive and good highway mpg. ride is good and well damped. but again, i dont really care to go fast in an SUV and neither does she. My main gripe with the car is the HK stereo is god awful. I dont feel like having someone rip out all the interior panels to upgrade it.
2. Lexus NX350h -- she really likes these. mainly the styling and lexus' reputation of reliability. mark levinson stereo is good. its quiet. i can't really find much fault with the car other than its got the personality of a broom. it was a very forgettable experience.
3. Volvo XC60 recharge -- we had one as a rental on our recent trip to nurburgring. So we had alot of time in it. We both liked it. The EV torque down low was very nice. It rode well. It was very quiet in EV mode even with the engine on. the PHEV part is what interests us. she can use electric for work, and then we can use gas for trips without having to wait at a charger like a pure EV would. the Bowers stereo is on another level even compared to lexus and makes the bmw hk sound like an alarm clock radio. I like the interioext styling more than the others. the seats are very supportive. massage seats and air suspension are availabe unlike the others. However the main con im seeing is the reliability issues (software glitches, weather stripping issues). the nearest volvo dealer is 120 miles away.
4. Macan -- drove one last year and it was ok. interior fit and finish is excellent. it was a base 4 cylinder loaner car and we'd probably get the 'S' with v6 if we go this route. it is a bit expensive for what it is, but it will also probably hold value better than the others. again, we dont really care about performance/handling which is what the car is really known for.

is there anything else we should consider ? Audi SQ5 ? Personally at this point my brain says BMW, but heart says Volvo.
