/FightFor15 is a grassroots community designed to raise support and awareness for a nationwide federal minimum wage. The minimum wage of $7.25 hasn't increased in over 15 years. This subs original goal was $15 but even that isn't a living wage in most parts of the US. $15, $20, $30, $50 . This movement works to give workers a living wage and the right to unionize.

2024.05.19 10:52 jennithomas321 On-Page vs. Off-Page SEO: Different but Equally Important

What’s the Difference Between On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO?

On-page SEO focuses on optimizing parts of your website that are within your control, while off-page SEO focuses on increasing the authority of your domain through content creation and earning backlinks from other websites. To further understand the difference between the two, you have to understand, at a basic level, how search engine algorithms work. Let’s break it down.
There are two main buckets that search engines (SEO) look at when evaluating your site compared to other sites on the web.
  1. On-page SEO looks at what your site (or your page) is about
  2. Off-page SEO looks at how authoritative and popular your site is

On-Page vs. Off-Page SEO: What’s the Difference?

Put simply, what you rank for is largely determined by on-page factors, while how high you rank in the search results is largely determined by off-page factors.

How Does Each Type of SEO Affect Your Rankings?

What is On-Page SEO?

On-page SEO (also known as “on-site” SEO) is the act of optimizing different parts of your website that affect your search engine rankings. Where your website appears in search engine results pages is determined by a number of ranking factors including site accessibility, page speed, optimized content, keywords, title tags, etc. On-page SEO is about optimizing the stuff that you have control over and can change on your own website.

On-page SEO checklist:

How do you make sure your on-page SEO tactics are up to snuff? Here is a helpful checklist for on-site optimizations that can help curate your strategy.

Title Tags

Put your targeted keywords in the title tag of each page on your site. There are many best practices that go into writing an effective title tag.

Headings (H1)

Headings are usually the largest words on the page, and for that reason, search engines give them a little more weight than your other page copy. It is a good idea to work your target keywords into the headings of each web page but make sure you accurately reflect your page’s great content.
Make sure your H1s limited to one per page, all other headers are H2 or H3

URL structure

Put keywords into your URLs if possible. However, do not go changing all of your current URLs just so they have keywords in them. You shouldn’t change old URLs unless you plan on redirecting your old ones to your new ones. Consult a professional before doing this.

Alt text for images

Any content management system should allow you to add something called “alt text” to all images on your website. This text isn’t visible to the average visitor – alt text is in fact used by screen reader software to help blind internet users understand the content of your images. Search engines crawl images in a similar way, so inserting some relevant keywords while accurately describing the image will help search engines understand your page’s content.
Writing an alt attribute for each image keeps your website in compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Keep the following things in mind when writing alt text:

Fast-loading pages, or page load speed

Google wants to help its users find what they’re looking for as quickly as possible to provide the best user experience. Therefore, optimizing your pages to load faster helps your site rank higher in the search results.
Google has a tool called PageSpeed Insights that will analyze your site on both mobile and desktop. and then suggest tips to optimize page speed. There are also several quick fixes to eliminate whatever is bogging your site down and slowing your page load time. Key site speed factors to consider:

Mobile Friendliness

In recent years, Google has prioritized mobile page loading speed as a key ranking metric.
How do you know if your website is mobile-friendly? Unfortunately, Google recently dropped support for some free public tools that helped. However, you can now use Google Search Console to analyze this type of information. Specifically, the Core Web Vitals report can help you identify if your mobile pages are loading slower than they should be.

Page Content

The content on your pages needs to be useful to people. If they search for something too specific to find your page, they need to be able to find what they’re looking for. It needs to be easy to read and provide value to the end user. Google has various ways to measure if your content is useful.

Internal Linking

Linking internally to other pages on your website is useful to visitors and it is also useful to search engines. Here’s an internal link to another blog post on our site that talks more about internal linking. Very meta.
When adding internal links, make sure to have relevant anchor text. Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink (usually indicated by blue font color and underline). To optimize your anchor text, make sure the selected word or phrase is relevant to the page you’re linking to.
On-page SEO ensures that your site can be read by both potential customers and search engine robots. With good on-page SEO, search engines can easily index your web pages, understand what your site is about, and easily navigate the structure and content of your website, thus ranking your site accordingly. As a best practice, make sure your page content includes 1-3 relevant internal links.

Schema Markup

Adding structured data helps Google better understand the content of a page. Google also uses certain types of structured data to display “rich results” in SERPs such as a recipe with start ratings or step-by-step instructions with an image carousel. These rich results often appear at or near the top of SERPs and generally have higher click-through-rates than normal organic listings.
Google prefers structured data to use schema.org vocabulary, and recommends using JSON-LD format. They also provide a handy Rich Results Test tool to check your code. While there are a variety of ways to add structured data to your website (plugins, Google Tag Manager, etc.), it’s always best to get a professional involved if you’re not comfortable writing code.
Check out Google’s guide to structured data and rich results here.

Social Tags

Having your content shared on social tells Google that people find your content relevant, helpful and reputable. Not every page on your site is share-worthy, but you can optimize the pages that are with these tips:

Core Web Vitals

User experience is key to a website’s long-term success. In spring 2020, Google unveiled Core Web Vitals, a common set of signals that they deem “critical” to all users’ web experiences.
The purpose of these signals is to quantify the user experience with a website, from page visual stability and load time, to interactive experiences.
To check your LCP score, access your Google PageSpeed Insights and make sure your page hits LCP within 2.5 seconds. To accomplish this, remove unnecessary third-party scripts that may be running, upgrading your web host, activating “lazy loading” so page elements load only as users scroll down the page, and remove any large page elements that may be slowing it down.
One of the simplest ways to optimize cumulative layout shift is to add height and width dimensions to each new site element. Also, avoid adding new content above existing content on a page (unless responding to user interaction).

Page Experience

Google is working on a new ranking signal (likely to come out in 2024) that prioritizes websites with positive user experiences.
The ‘page experience signal’ will consist of Core Web Vitals, plus mobile-friendliness, safe-browsing, HTTPS security, and intrusive interstitial guidelines.
According to Google, “optimizing for these factors makes the web more delightful for users across all web browsers and surfaces, and helps sites evolve towards user expectations on mobile. We believe this will contribute to business success on the web as users grow more engaged and can transact with less friction.”

What is Off-Page SEO?

Off-page SEO focuses on increasing the authority of your domain through the act of getting links from other websites.
A good analogy for how authority works is this. If you have a bathtub with rubber duckies in it (the ducks are your pages), and you start filling the tub with water (links), your duckies are all going to rise to the top.
This is how a site like Wikipedia ranks for pretty much everything under the sun. It has so much water in its bathtub that if you throw another rubber duck in it, it’s going to float to the top without any other effort.
There’s a score called “Domain Authority” that calculates how authoritative your website is compared to other sites. You can type your domain name into here to see your score.

How to optimize for off-page SEO

There are several factors that influence your off-page SEO rankings. While each one is tackled with different strategies, they share an overarching goal of building the trust and reputation of your website from the outside.
  1. Inbound links
  2. Social media marketing
  3. Guest blogging and guest posting
  4. Unlinked brand mentions
  5. Influencer marketing
The biggest off-page SEO factor is the number and quality of backlinks to your website. Some examples of ways you can build links to your website are:
While link quantity is still important, content creators and SEO professionals are realizing that link quality is now more important than link quantity. As such, creating shareable content is the first step to earning valuable links and improving your off-page SEO.
How many links do you need for good off-page SEO? That is a tough question and it’s going to be based on the domain authority of your competitors, as you want to make sure you’re playing in the same sandbox.
SEOs also used to believe that buying links was a valid way of link building; however, Google will now penalize you for buying links in an attempt to manipulate page rank. You can also be penalized for submitting your links to link directories whose sole purpose is to increase your domain authority. Again, quality wins out over quantity when it comes to link building.

Is On-Page or Off-Page SEO More Important?

It’s not about choosing between on and off-page SEO, that would be like having to choose between a foundation or a roof for your house. On-page and off-page SEO work together to improve your search engine rankings in a complementary fashion.
However, SEOs generally advise getting your on-page SEO ducks in a row before focusing too much on off-page SEO.
Just like building a house, you want to set the foundation first before building the rest of the house. Like a foundation, you may need to come back and do some maintenance to your on-page SEO from time to time. Balancing the two will help make your website “bilingual” so that your users can understand it as well as the search engine robots- and that’s how your rankings start to improve.

2024.05.19 10:51 BobtheBuilder2018 What membership would be best?

Hi! I'm in WhittieLa Habra area in LA and I am thinking of signing up for CP. I tried their free trial a long time ago. I have a gym membership that I don't want to get rid of, so I would ideally want to do a mix of 2 yoga classes and 2 pilates classes per month. Could someone let me know the average credit cost of yoga and pilates classes? I am trying to figure out if it would be worth it and if i would need the 23 credits or 43 credits membership. The closest spots that I have tried/enjoyed are Club Pilates and Yogasix in La Habra. Thanks in advance :)

2024.05.19 10:50 _FizzyPop_ BD Coming to Step Daughters Birthday...

Ok where to begin.. I've been with my wife since 2021, she was already separated (but not dicorced) and had a 4 yo son and 2.5 yo daughter. She left her ex because it just wasn't working and around the time we got together she found messages and nudes he'd (at the time 28m) swapped with her friends baby sitter (16f). She reported it to the army MP's and it was all swept under the rug which is fucked up enough but he was kicked out of the army. Needless to say, not a great guy.
So my wife and I start dating, it takes time but the kids warm up to me, wife and I get married, and seeing I need to provide I join the USAF and go through the recruitment process in 2022, BD knows im joining and even being kicked out of the army knows there's a timer on when his ex and the kids move away when I get stationed somewhere.
He was only 45 min away from us at the time of me starting enlistment and by the time I finished basic and tech training which took 6 months (in total was about a year process) and he only came to see the kids about 6 or 7 times.
We got to our base in July 2023 and it wasn't until December 2023 that he even asked what our address was because he needed it for some paperwork. He never actually initiates calls or even text my wife to ask how the kids are, all contact he has with them is when my soon to be 5 SD ask to call him. He knows absolutely fuck all about what's going on in the kids lives, anything about their interest, he just doesn't care but yet every time he talks to them (which is on average once a month for about 20 min) he tells them how much he loves them etc. And how much he cares about them.
Back at new years he told the kids he'd come to us to visit (about a 10 hour drive which my wife and I have made twice to go back home for holidays since we left in July 2023) by the end of February. We'll surprise surprise he didn't show.
A couple days ago my SD asked to call him and asked if he'd be at her birthday party in 2 weeks, he said that "he'd try to be there but wasn't sure". Well my wife ans i got confirmation today from him that he was going to be here because, and I quote, "I haven't missed a birthday and I'll be dammed if I miss one now." WE asked what his exact travel plans were so we knew how to plan for his visit, and he actually hadn't made plans yet and is just saying he'll be here. Also, this whole "I'll be dammned if I miss a birthday" shit is just so infuriating because if my SD didn't ask, he wouldn't have even entertained the idea of coming out to us.
He makes about 80k/yr and we only ask for 1k/mo in child support for 2 kids despite the fact that it should be 25% of each pay check per our states laws, and he's complaining saying "well I'll be out there but I have to put everything on a credit card to make the trip because I'm saving to buy a house". We have 0 idea where all his money goes and we frankly don't care, but his financial literacy is crazy bad.
Now I have to figure out, if he does actually show up, how to handle this with the kids, make a list of ground rules for him being in my fucking house which I don't want to begin with but the kids want to see him, and making sure I don't fucking deck him when I hear him inevitably say "well they're my kids".
TLDR; BD is a piece of shit who does nothing but make empty promises to my kids just for me and my wife to clean up his mess and be the bad guys.

2024.05.19 10:47 CaLinOuRS38 Which convertible sports car should I buy?

Hi everyone,
New here, hopefully I won't offend anyone or break any rules.
I'm looking to buy a convertible sports car. Budget is 30-50k€, would prefer not going over. I live in western Europe but don't mind importing from Japan or America.
My daily driver is a Tesla Model X. I've crashed one of my fun cars and I would like to use the insurance payment to buy a convertible.
I've looked at many things, from a classic Mustang to a turbocharged Honda S2000, through M4's and Corvettes.
Used cars only.
The 996 and 997 911's with a manual gearbox are certainly a possibility. I like the fact that they should retain they value. They seem to be good cars but never driven or been in one. I like the 4 seats, I've heard they can be quite reliable and I like the look as well.
I'm also interested in a C6 or C7 Corvette. I've always liked them, but they'll lose value over time. Never driven or been in one either though. They aren't too common in Europe.
A side competitor would be a Lexus LC but they are too expensive in convertible versions I think. I love Toyota's! If they made a convertible Nissan Z or Supra mk5 I would have gone for that I think.
What would be the recommendation? I look for reliability, handling, power, comfort, looks, etc. The usual suspects, really. But reliability really is important to me, I've had bad experiences before and I would like to avoid repeating them. People know me for my 'different' taste so the 911, which are as common as dirt where I live and work, would seem out of character, but the fact that they keep their value is important to me. Also, I thing they look really great. Maintenance cost will be a factor too obviously.
I'm torn! Please advise :D

2024.05.19 10:38 richardtrle In 2021 three young women were violently killed in Prado - Bahia, another one remains missing. The cases are still unsolved. Who killed Erika, Natalia and who is the Prado's Jane Doe?

The cases of Natália and Isadora

Natália Sampaio had a troubling raising, her parents were never married, and her family struggled financially. She initially lived with her grandmother from her mother side. But after reaching thirteen she went to live with her two brothers, who were farmworkers. When she was fifteen years old, she dropped from school. A move that both her brothers and her grandmother disapproved. She then started basically to spend more time out of home in Cumuruxatiba, which is a neighborhood in the small beachside municipality of Prado - Bahia, Brazil.
She then started to get involved with drugs and sadly, to sustain her addiction, relied in prostitution, a move that her family didn't know about. At the age of 16 she became acquaintance with Isabel Fernandes, who was 15 years old at that time. Isabel was also addicted and misguided by Sampaio, they started to do small thefts and also prostituted herself.
In April, 2021, Sampaio wanted to change her life and come clean, so she told her grandmother that she wanted to go back to school, also telling her, her wrongdoings. Her grandmother did something that she regrets until this very day, she didn't trust in her and told her granddaughter to seek her mother or her brothers for housing and support.
Late in April, both Fernandes and Sampaio went missing. They went to a Luau that oftens take place in the town, on the beaches. Some days later, Sampaio's remains were found on a river, strangled with a rope tied to a heavy stone. Fernandes remains and whereabouts are still unknown until this day, she is presumably deceased.

The cases of Erika and the Prado's Jane Doe

In June, 2021. Another female body was found in Jucuruçu River, the initial investigation believed it would be Fernandes remains, but after the autopsy, the woman could not be identified, it was in an advanced stage of decay, and from bones and teeth, they could only identify that the woman was in her early 30s, late 20s.
The woman was body's was found strangled in the neck with a rope, the rope was tied to a heavy stone. The woman identity's remains a unsolved mystery until this very day.
Erika Batista lived in Teixeira de Freitas a satellite town in the southern region of Bahia, she was eighteen years old, a Baptist and a student, in her High School sophomore year. In August, 2021. Batista asked her mother if she could go to a camping trip with a group of friends from her Church. Her mother, Leidiane Batista, initially declined, but moved by her daughter's plea, let her go. "Don't drink alcohol, don't have sex, don't go to parties", she told her daughter.
Her boyfriend at that time, Jhonatas Rocha, and an unnamed minor close friend also went with her. August 21th, they went to a boat trip in Jucuruçu River and then in the night they went to the beach and started a firecamp along with their group of friends. Walking at night on the beaches of Prado is something really common that both tourists and citizens regularly do. So the group often split, so duos or trios could roam through the beautiful scenario, featuring a full moon.
This would be the last time they would see Batista alive, as she and a her close friend went roaming through the beach. That friend of her was smitten by Batista and they both had a fling, but Batista was dismayed of betraying her boyfriend, so she and her friend had a little misunderstading. Batista was furious and told her that she wanted to go alone, a mistake that probably cost her life.
Three hours later, her boyfriend realized that her friend returned, but Batista didn't, so he went to look after her, only to find her 3 miles away, in the river's mouth, naked, strangled with a rope and the rope was tied to a stone. He could barely see someone fleeing the scene and he ran back to the group after, unsuccessfully trying to revive Batista.
The investigation never led to a suspect. All the cases remain unsolved.

My final thoughts

Three women killed in the same way, one missing. In the region of Teixeira de Freitas (which encompasses Prado), there is also an unsettling number of women disappearances (three in 2021, four in 2022, and five last year), and if their remains are ever found, they are always sexually assaulted, strangled to death. Then their bodies are tied to a rope and the rope is tied to heavy stone.
If by coincidence there is a copycat, which I don't think it is, I believe that there is a serial killer in the region and I have been documenting these cases and there are many similarities between the cases. I'll link some material, but they are in Brazilian Portuguese, just for reference.

2024.05.19 10:33 here4geld Why is it impossible to find a woman who wants DINK ?

AM search is now all over the place. It's not working anymore. People are having crazy expectations. 1. Spoke to some one who with 34/F. She wants to 2 kids. One by age 36, two by age 40. She wants her own apartment & car but she does not earn enough. (Income less than 7lpa). The math just does not work out. She is single at 34. If she gets married asap then also it takes 1 yr to deliver a baby. Who wants to plan 2nd kid at age 40 ? Who has the physical n mental capacity to play, run, feed a new born baby at age 40 ? How she plans to buy an apartment costing 50 lakhs & a car costing 6-7 lakhs ? People just forgot maths.
  1. Instagram life : 1st question to me: where do u live ? Do u have your own house ? How much is your salary ? Can u drive ? Why knowing driving is such an important factor to be checked on the first call ? Are we living in Canada or India ?
  2. Cannot relocate out of town but expect guy to make 40 lpa. 40lpa jobs are not that much abundant in kolkata. But women here just love to complaint and ask for high salary. Even not working women are not interested to move outside because they are comfortable with the city/family.
  3. Career oriented jobless people: Age 33/34. But not working. Having master's or PhD. Planning to work. Or trying for govt job. Which govt jobs have vacancy for ages 34 candidates? Why did you do phd and then sit idle ? Why can't to do food delivery at big basket or swiggy ? Bcz looks like you don't have any skills. When, asked to relocate, then they say, she can only relocate if she gets a post doctoral position. Otherwise she will stay in silchar, Assam and continue to "search" for job while sitting at home.
  4. Can't live in Dubai, because it's a Muslim country. Why ? Is dubai government converting every hindu ? Are they doing hate speech against Hindu or other religions? (Oh wait, it happens in india!!). No. Dubai has no freedom of speech. Ok, so u gonna post a tweet and tell that the supreme leader is stupid & coward and a dictator ?? (Yesz try that in india and let's see which constitution right saves you from RSS)
  5. Brother of potential candidate, with a state government clerical job, who can't type a English sentence properly asks for salary slip to verify earnings of the guy while her sister sitting at her Village home all day after BA in English and "searching for job" since 2016. While, asking why do you need salary slip, he says, I don't think this much salary is possible here in IT role. Because his friend working in TCS earns 60k/month only.
  6. Women who are fat, don't do any basic workout or don't even walk 5000 steps a day at the age of 33 rejecting guys who are losing hair at the office 35. Also, they call themselves "healthy". Healthy is not fat apparently. Wtf, is wrong with society and peoples expectations.
People want kids but single till age 34. People want to have an apartment but never bothered to make an FD to save money. People want 40lpa guy working n living in a village of Bengal. People want to 2 kids then outsource the kids to nannies which the husband will pay, because managing 2 kids is so tough. People want long drives in tata Nexon car with a background song "Love u zindagi". But can't afford a car or don't know how to drive. Good luck to all of them.

2024.05.19 10:18 rightoldgeezer How do you manage with the “but everybody gets 30 hrs free childcare?”

I’ve had this twice now, mainly when bemoaning the cost of childcare for under 4’s. My friends are insistent that everyone gets 30 hours free. Maybe they’re not aware of the £100k cap, but then there’s certainly some that are aware but clearly thinks no one earns above that (I don’t live in London for what it’s worth). I almost find myself in an awkward situation where you’re basically saying, yes, I earn more than 100k a year - and considering most of my friends are earning average salaries, it can be seen as gloating.
How do you approach these questions? Like I don’t want to gloat, but at the same time, I don’t want to lie or play down the impact childcare costs have.

2024.05.19 10:15 Davess_World2019 Hagwon Life: How to spot a lazy manager/owner

Re: PODCAST: How to Spot a Lazy Manager
I'm telling ya, other than trying to rip off as many people as possible and get as much work out of them, and do the least amount of effort themselves, I don't know why Hagwonites bother. And I don't know why foreigners care more than the people who own the place and/or will be working there 10 years from now.
It reminds me of George Costanza's frustration with his lazy boss Mr. Kruger. You can see the YouTube clip here. Bust your rear-end for what? So it can backslide back to square 1 as soon as you leave and the new person replaces you? You're not helping the place advance, you are helping it idle in neutral.
See if this sounds like your experience at a Hagwon.
1. One: they blame low performance and turnover on employees.
--And every other mistake as well. The students are total brats? That's your fault. You don't teach the lesson absolutely perfectly without training? That's your fault. Kids are bored? That's your fault. A child pokes another child and mom calls about it, again --your fault.
None of these managers actually manage. They give irrelevant or no training. They institute no discipline plan all the staff, students, parents will agree on. They often give not enough material to teach the class, ALL OF THAT falls on the hands of the foreigners. Imagine that, a place that's been open for 5-10 years still hasn't taking point on all these issues, just push them off on the foreigner and go back to gossiping about how terrible the foreigners are.
BTW, I'm not an owner of a company, I can discuss people who should be discussing ideas.
2: They look for quick fixes to complex retention problems.
--That's more than true. I declined to accept a 2nd contract by being offered slightly more money, about double the vacation time, and move up to head teacher. Why didn't I accept this promotion? Because everything I said the entire year was totally ignored, the pay wasn't enough to put up with their stupidity. The vacation was totally bogus because we had to threaten a mutiny just to get 2 extra days due to break between semesters. Why would I trust them to give me more when they didn't honor the ones in the 1st contract. Search Bar: Mutiny. Also, they harassed the head teacher out of a job, why would I then stick my head in the guillotine after they dragged the body away by the ankles?

But wait there's more!

That's the end of that link, but you and I can identify so many more issues.
3. Physically / Intellectually a bad example for everyone.
I don't know about you, but I don't respect slough-offs and idiots. The person that SHOULD Be working the hardest is the person who owns the place. Did you ever see the video of Elan Musk sleeping on his sofa in his office at the production plant? Yeah, really. The billionaire owner is there to field problems as they come up instead of being called at home and have to drive in at 2am. He suffers more and works harder than anyone there.
Some dumb-butt that owns a hagwon said on here one time,
I don't do make employees do anything I wouldn't do
You are supposed to do what your employees do and 10x more than that! You're the owner. This is your livelihood, it will destroy your life if it faulters. You have to pay off employees with severance, pay back loans you probably can't pay off, reduce your living space, sell off assets to survive. You put all your eggs in this basket, it HAS to work, why are you putting the outcome in the hands of people who have no skin in the game?
I don't respect boneheads who should have their educational chops figured out by this point. They should have taken notes and improved themselves as each semester rolls on by. Why are the same problems recurring every semester or every year such as the Halloween or Christmas event, you did the same thing a year ago!
4. Doesn't know your job description.
Not only does a lazy boss not educate themselves about what education is, they have neither bothered to know what teachers actually do. Sure, they scowl through the window or monitor on CCTV, but do they know what they are looking at? Almost certainly not. They tend to focus on the most inane "violations" to give themselves and everyone else the false impression they are REALLY on the ball here, nothing slips past their scrutinous eye on quality and detail! When in fact, they reveal themselves to not only be an obnoxious pest, but clearly don't even know what teachers do every day. I've had to tell more than a few in-class and CCTV observers that the things they are bothering with are so miniscule I question whether they have even taught anyone anything before in their entire lives? It's like me storming in on a mechanic, "I gotcha! I see you didn't grease those fittings!" Then they tell me that is done AFTER the breaks and wheel has been fixed and reassembled. I just exposed myself as not knowing what I'm talking about.
Hagwon management and owners don't realize how much time it takes to do the tasks they are demanding because they've never had to do them before. Sure, waive your hand and expect this or that, but a) they don't know how to do it themselves. b) we are not holding out on them with a Mary Poppins bad of lesson plans. We don't have a quick fix for their ideas. c) it takes research, editing, time, contemplation to add something that perfectly match a class's level. Management and owners think it only takes about 30 minutes to throw something together, when in fact it could be 2 hours.
5. Boss is too lazy/stubborn to solve problems.
"I'm the boss. I say, you do. That's the end of it, now get to work, no back-talk!"
If you work in any place like this, the boss is trying to avoid being exposed as a fool. They know if they throw out instructions and ideas, they will get shot down as not knowing round holes don't accept square pegs. To avoid a face-losing situation, they avoid communication at all costs. If every idea is idiotic and everyone knows it, they lose stature and the decree will be considered untenable. If the boss demands something runs and hides under their desk, the chances that the smarter people will get together and somehow make it happen is much more likely. Really, poor or no communication can be interpreted as, "Just make what I'm demanding from you happen, and don't ask me, I have no idea how to do it or I'd be helping you do it."
6. No goals.
--Every day is Groundhog's Day with lazy people. Nothing ever improves. The latest freak-out due to procrastination, poor communication, poor judgement, lack of materials, poor training is just a temporary peak until it is resolved, a lull in the action happens, then another peak or freak-out occurs in a frequency that drives everyone crazy.

Is Kiara Advani an industry plant? Does Bollywood have industry plants?
I don’t think I’ve despised an actress’s presence in the film industry and movies as much as I have despised Kiara.
How come people call Alia Bhatt basic/average looking but this woman can just move through the industry with the aesthetic of a plain piece of paper?
Her parents are rich. She does shit movies. Has no personality. How has she become mainstream all of a sudden?

2024.05.19 09:59 sendmesnailpics Post op(July2021) Hair loss and nutrient absorption help

Hey people, 28F. I had my Roux and Y bypass surgery in July 2021, I had decent success but I'm here because pre op I had thick hair, very fine texture but a lot of it.
Post op started loosing weight and lost somewhere in the region to 1/3-1/2 my hair volume but evenly so not patchy luckily.
I was diagnosed with ADHD since and I'm getting better with my dailys but I know I need to be better but cost of living and things pinching and I was unemployed for a period.
Basically I know the basics of good diet, take your multivitamin, I'm really pushing to, before I hit 30, get back on board with all the better habits the surgery helped me kick off.
My hairs still not recovering though. It's really killing my self esteem it's a lot more limp and lifeless then it used to be as well and I hoped someone might have had success with figuring out what it wants and needs to try and give it a boost.
Secondarily, I was also wondering if anyone had a better absorption trick for multivitamins, I'm on a iron and B12 boosted one but I've had to get infusions and shots for both so I'm wondering if making them into a liquid or blitzing them in other food might help them be absorbed a bit better.

2024.05.19 09:57 Hoags-Object-374 My worst bonk story

So some months ago, before I got my orbea orca and had instead a relatively heavy endurance bike I decided to have a quick climb. Saturday night I have a large pizza to carb up for my Sunday right 50k 1300m ride in Geneva. I wake up an hour later than my scheduled departure and forcibly skip breakfast thinking I'd have a quick brekkie at a cafe earlier than I'd scheduled to have a cafe stop for and keep going until I enter France. Come to remember that Sunday's everything is closed in Geneva. So I push into France for the climb desperately in search of a cafe or even a random shop as I'd only take 1 bottle of water. No luck. The path I'd charted on Strava didn't have any stores along the way. So I push the first 25k (flat) before the climb. Now I'm faced with a sustained average 8 degree climb with 15 degree spikes without breakfast, in need of a toilet, no sugar no carb and only 300ml of water. Halfway up I find a restaurant, they have no pastries so I have a double espresso and 2 cubes of sugar and refill my water. I manage the climb of at a sloths pace, cold as hell in temperate weather. At the top I try to find a cafe but no luck. I rest for 30 mins and try to regain some cognitive functioning for the descent. On the way down I force myself to throttle to 60km max to not have an accident. I get home have another pizza and basically die. It took me 4 hours to complete the ride, and I swore never to repeat such a series of poor decisions. My god.
What about you?

2024.05.19 09:56 Ryzer32 Should I replace or just re-flash my 4 sun tunnels when having my roof re done?

Hi all,
23 yr old shingle roof. Sun tunnels are the same age. 2 of them have started to leak (i did a temporary fix for now). Now I am having my roof replaced. Should I have the roofer replace the whole units? or just re-flash the units? or just replace everything that is on the roof (keeping the most of the current tunnel in the attic and the lens on my ceilings).
Here are some photos
https://imgur.com/a/sun-tunnels-to-replace-reflash-AiZIkoa
Its basically me trying to decide if I should have everything replaced (which would cost the most ofcourse) or just have the stuff exposed on the roof or just the flashing replaced. The models that I have are no longer in production. they are 13 inch wide. What would you do? Pay more and replace everything and get new warranty with the roofing company? or only replace some of it and save money?

2024.05.19 09:51 GirlOf1000SillyFaces Tricky Three situation - they've got me by the credit reports

TL;DR: Three cancelled my service due to a miscommunication and are charging me for the full two years. How do I avoid the charge and keep my credit report intact?
Morning folks, here is the full situation. I requested a PAC from Three and received it in an SMS with the following information: "If you switch today, the total charge you'll have to pay is £170.92. This includes any cancellation fees and your outstanding out-of-allowance charges".
I wasn't actually trying to switch provider, just to port that particular number to a different SIM, and the message doesn't actually say that using the PAC automatically cancels the entire service, so I ported the number. Three are now charging me the full £170.92, and of course they have me by the credit report. I opened a complaint to Three, and I'm getting nowhere with that. I'm now considering whether to go the ombudsman route, or make a claim in court.
I'm not au fait with credit reporting; can companies basically say what they want on credit reports? Do you just have to bend over and take it or is there any recourse for disputes? What happens when companies make egregious mistakes (which never happens of course)?
Here is the full complaint I made to Three:
I am writing to raise a new complaint.
I requested a PAC from yourselves. I received the PAC in an SMS with the following information "If you switch today, the total charge you'll have to pay is £170.92. This includes any cancellation fees and your outstanding out-of-allowance charges". This message doesn't actually say that using the PAC automatically cancels the entire service, and there's nothing in that wording that implies I consent to that cancellation and the resulting charges.
However, when the phone number was ported, the service was in fact cancelled at the aforementioned cost, which should not have happened.
There is no reason to assume that everyone who wants to move a phone number to a different provider also wishes to cancel the original service; and most phones these days have dual-SIM capability, allowing you to use phone and SMS services from one provider, and data services from a different provider. Indeed, this is exactly what I was trying to do, because Three has the cheapest unlimited data services available, but atrocious phone network service. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has wanted to do this whilst retaining a phone number for the SIM card used for phone calls, and in fact, as you can see from the following information, almost all modern phones, including all the latest Iphones and Samsung phones have dual SIM capability:
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/dual-sim-phones?sort=default https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iPhone_models https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/dual-sim-psim-esim-phones/
If SIM service is automatically disconnected when a phone number is ported, there would be no way to do this. Considering that when any new SIM is activated, it is automatically assigned a new number, there is no reason why this shouldn't also happen when a number is ported away from a SIM, and there was nothing in the wording of the SMS above that explicitly said the service would be cancelled.
There is no reason that either restarting the service with a different number, or just waiving the illegitimate charge altogether wouldn't be possible.
As you can imagine, this unwarranted cancellation of my service was highly disruptive to both my day-to-day and working activities. I am therefore requesting either that the service I originally had be re-instated under the same terms (which is linked to a 5g router and data SIM service), or that the service remains cancelled with the cancellation fees waived. Either is fine, but it is not acceptable or reasonable for me to pay a large cancellation fee for a service that I did not request to be cancelled.
Please respond to this complaint in writing
Kind regards

Gardenscapes is a match-three game that brings players to a mansion with many old elements that need to be changed. They will try to collect many gold stars to perform in-game changes, and of course, the match-three levels will be the challenge that the player must conquer. At the same time, you can choose new elements to suit your mansion.

EXPLORE A VAST GARDEN

The story of Gardenscapes opens with a city crowded with people and vehicles moving one after another. At the same time, the main character wishes he could go to a more suitable place, and soon, a strange letter appears. This letter was written by Austin, the butler of the protagonist’s relative, and the content in the letter mentions the property that the protagonist can inherit. So the player will go to a mansion with a large garden.

RENOVATE THE MANSION IN DIFFERENT WAYS

When the player goes to the mansion in Gardenscapes, the player will meet the character Austin and find areas that have been abandoned for a long time. So, you certainly will not be able to live in a mansion in such a condition, so your task is to rebuild the old things and buy back the furniture to make the mansion more impressive. Any operations performed are based on the number of resources the player owns.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGING LEVELS

In Gardenscapes, the resource for the player to be able to do those quests is a gold star, and when you use a certain number of units, the operation is quickly completed. You will see the obvious change in the mansion and its garden in a positive direction, which can attract players. The match-three level is the only way to collect these resources, and its mechanics shouldn’t be too challenging.

You will move an element to form a match of three or more elements, which will cost one move. The level is only completed when the player successfully collects elements that match the shape of the fruit in a limited number of turns. At the same time, during the game, the player can also speed up the process of completing the level with boosters capable of destroying a specific area.

RENOVATE THE MANSION TO YOUR STYLE

One of the elements that players will constantly implement in Gardenscapes is the selection of new elements. When the player clicks on the resource usage button to trigger the repair, the system will give you several choices about which new one you want to place. There will usually be three different options, and you can touch each one to see if it matches the actual mansion environment. After a period of deliberation, you can confirm your decision.

GAME FEATURES

  • Match-3 puzzle levels: Players progress through the game by completing match-3 puzzle levels, where they must swap adjacent pieces to create rows or columns of three or more matching pieces. As players progress through the game, the puzzle levels become more challenging, introducing new puzzle elements.
  • Garden restoration and decoration: Use the stars they earn from completing puzzle levels to restore and decorate different garden areas. This includes planting trees, adding benches, and building fountains.
  • Characters and story: A cast of characters that players can interact with throughout the game, including Austin, the gardener, and the player’s in-game dog, who helps find hidden objects. The game also has a story that unfolds as players progress through the puzzle levels and restore the garden.
  • Special events and daily challenges: Often has special and daily challenges for players to participate in, offering unique gameplay and rewards.
  • Social features: They can visit and help out their friends’ gardens and compete with other players in the “Tournament” mode.
