Hey all, I'm looking to get a for fun sports car for weekend drives, canyon carving and maybe the occasional track day. I can comfortably do $65-70k, could push slightly higher but I'd prefer not to unless the car is *that* special. I have a reliable AWD daily driver, so practicality is not a concern. I live in Denver so I'd like something I can take mountain drives with, have fun with and mainly just put a smile on my face. Also the idea of forced induction appeals to me with the altitude up here. I've browsed this forum (and many others) and compiled a fairly large list of cars that goes as follows:
Current top 2

Corvette C7 z06 - most performance by far. From watching reviews so fast it's scary. Still "just a corvette", but would be cheaper to run than anything German with comparable performance.
Porsche 718 Cayman S - can be tuned for a little more power, but is fairly limited with what it can make. Has more "class" and "sex appeal" than a Chevy. Renting one this weekend to see how it feels.

Close 3rd

F87 M2 Comp. Slower than the other two, and not a bespoke sports car chassis, but I LOVE the look of it and it has a lot of tuning potential. Reviewers rave about it. Also surprisingly rare.

I've done a lot of research on my own, and right now I'm trying to set up test drives, but just curious what other car people think!

Eric and Rebecca celebrated their wedding under the vast skies of Silver Bow County, surrounded by friends and family. As evening set in, the reception was alive with music, laughter, and dancing. The hall, adorned with twinkling lights and flowers, radiated joy. However, the atmosphere shifted when a mysterious man in a dark suit and fedora entered. He mingled among the guests, his presence unsettling despite his friendly demeanor. He seemed familiar yet unknown, claiming vague connections to distant relatives. As the night progressed, his odd questions and keen interest in personal details unnerved the guests.
Eric and Rebecca, sensing something amiss, confronted him. His cryptic reply, "I'm here to collect information," did little to ease their anxiety. They tried to dismiss him from their thoughts and rejoin the celebration.
The man’s behavior grew stranger. He took notes and whispered to guests, his knowledge of their private lives causing discomfort and fear. His unsettling aura thickened the air.
As the reception drew to a close, he approached the newlyweds, handing them a box of intricate trinkets, including a real diamond ring and fancy cuff links. Confused but intrigued, Eric and Rebecca accepted the gift, choosing to focus on their last dance.
Afterward, they headed for the lobby to make their grand exit. A man in a white shirt directed them to a side door, leading to an empty street. Confused, they turned to ask for directions, but he had vanished. Moments later, a sleek Porsche pulled up. "The ride your father arranged," claimed the driver with a hat pulled low. Trusting the gesture was a surprise from Rebecca’s father, they climbed in, their hearts light with joy.
However, as the driver bypassed the hotel exit, tension filled the car. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry, but we’re not going to your hotel.” he said calmly, turn around and removing the fedora from his head, revealing a chilling smile. He drove them to a remote cabin deep in the woods, where he pulled the car to a stop. Without warning, he turned to the couple, his eyes gleaming with a chilling smile. From his coat pocket, he withdrew a syringe and swiftly injected Eric and Rebecca in their thighs, rendering them unconscious. When they woke, they were inside the cabin, disoriented and terrified. They scanned the dimly lit room, quickly realizing they were prisoners. The stranger stood still in front of them. He glanced over his shoulder, looking at the corner of the room where a rusted, old clothing rack could be seen, full of multiple suits and other wedding attire in varying colors and sizes, all neatly hung an organized. Then he turned back, revealing a disturbing smile on his face, as he slowly approached them.

I know this is a weird one, bear with me. I just like all three of these a lot and want to hear others opinions. It would be a second car for a family of 3. So for fun more than practicality. Would buy used. My pros and cons:
Challenger - love a big v8 in a big car. Heart pounds every time I see one. They are not making new ones. / handling not the best. Thief magnet. Dodge is absolutely awful to deal with in my area.
Macan - Go to Porsche and be treated like a human being. The handling! Reliability!/ Maintenance costs. Kinda tight interior. Never really loved the styling.
BMW - Sedan. Good dealership experience. The B58. /Doesnt hold value as well. Kinda small

There’s two Porsche 981s that I’m currently looking at, both are base models and in Metallic Red. I wanted a manual, with a tan interior.
First option - 2015, Manual, Alcantara Interior, 76 000 KMS, 17” wheels, around 40 000$. From Dealer.
Second option - 2015, PDK, Tan Interior WITH Sport Chrono, Steering Wheel without paddle shifters, 20” wheels, 104 000 KMS, around 32 700$. From individual.
Please help me decide.

I have been a mechanic for 13 years and got seriously injured on the job 3 years ago and tried service writing at a small independent shop. I seemed to have done pretty well. Though it's just me and one other service advisor, so i'm not entirely sure if we're both doing great or both suck from my limited experience on this side of the counter. But overall the customers I work with seem pretty satisfied and write nice reviews, and i'm bringing home about 90k a year, but thats about as high as I can go without additional efficiencies or equipment/staff. We're very much bursting at the seams with work consistently.
It's a great job, but I want to grow and continue to develop, and I feel pretty capped out at this small shop. I went job hunting and sent off some resumes and got 2 interviews pretty quickly.
One was for a shop that specializes in nothing but Honda, they have 10 technicians, 2 advisors, and a co-owned machine shop across the street thats capable of doing same day turn around on most things. The shop offers sit and wait clutch replacement. So theyre able to turn and burn cars very quickly. I'd have a 70k base salary working 11 hour days M-F and a 2.5% commission on gross profit with my tickets, if the GP is $100,000 or more. If the GP is less than 100k at the end of the month, my commission is $0 and i'd only receive my base salary.
The other offer is about half a mile away from this independent shop, and it's a Porsche dealership. Theyre open Monday-Saturday, and it's tough to determine what the pay will be, because the base is so low, but the commissions are tiered, but aggressive. I'm inclined to try this one for the growth opportunity, especially since i'm a Porsche enthusiast and that was my brand specialty in my years as a mechanic, but I'm also somewhat limited in my service advisor experience, and ive never worked at a dealership before and I am somewhat concerned about the culture.
Have any of you worked at both? what are the pros/cons?

I am looking for an excellent shop in the Portland area. I'm actually on the other side of the river, in Vancouver, but I will go as far as is necessary. I haven't lived here in 20 years so my knowledge of the area is pretty dated. Previously took my 2015 GTI to a Porsche performance racing shop in FL and I would really like something similar. (Also I'm disabled so DIY is not possible.)

My school didn't allow cars for freshman but now that I'm a sophomore a car would be nice. My budget is 45k. My last car I drove was a 2013 BMW 7 series and I'm just trying to find something that's badass and nice. I really lucked out with parents but the side effect is that I'm used to driving a high performance sedan. Also nothing Japanese. I'd get a 60s mustang ideally but it won't be to practical. Kinda going off of vibes so finding a sick car like that. My interests right now:
Porsche Macan
Porsche Cayenne if I can find one
BMW 8 if I can find one for the right price
60's Mustang Fastback
older Range Rover 2014-2019 range
I was really interested in the new Broncos but the price is just plainly ridiculous and even preowned broncos have barely depreciated.
