Here is the calendar proposal from HISD
The proposed calendar, which has been narrowed down from several options, would look like this:

This would extend the school year to 180 days, allowed under HISD's newly approved "District of Innovation" status.
Other important dates:
Staff development dates: June 14th, September 3rd, October 3rd, January 6th, February 14th, May 2nd, June 5th, and June 13th.
Proposed make-up days for weather, other disruptions: June 6th to June 12th.
Winter break: December 23rd to January 3rd Spring Break: March 10th to March 14th
The calendar has also been altered after Jewish community members said that HISD's originally proposed calendar failed to recognize the start of the High Holy days on October 2nd. Now, October 3rd is a development day that students will have off, and October 4th is a Fall Holiday. But teachers and staff will still be required to attend.
HISD's board of managers and Superintendent Mike Miles will vote on the final calendar during its February 8th meeting.

What is the Goods and Services Tax (GST)?

The goods and services tax (GST), a value-added tax, is levied on the majority of goods and services that are offered for domestic use. Information about imports and exports, including the taxes paid on those imports and exports as well as the interest owed, is requested on the CMP-08 statement cum challan.

WHO WE ARE Creative Action is a nationally-recognized youth arts education organization in Austin, Texas. As the largest provider of creative learning programs in Central Texas, we use the arts to activate the academic, social and emotional development of young people. Through interactive classroom performances, after school residencies, and community-based programs, our team of professional teaching artists inspire youth to be creative artists, courageous allies, critical thinkers and confident leaders in their communities.
WHO WE WANT We’re looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented and proactive person who is passionate about working with young people. This position requires someone who has a growth mindset, can-do attitude and is a creative problem solver. Applicants must have flexibility, excellent organization and interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster creativity, collaboration and communication. This person must be able to anticipate challenges, set positive intentions, build trust and inspire community. We seek someone who is committed to youth development and believes that all people deserve equal opportunities and are valued for their unique life experience. This position includes a pathway to leadership in the OST Department, through learning more about site management and logistics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A Teaching Artist is an integral member of the Out of School Time (OST) site based team. This person works closely with a campus Site Coordinator and Artistic Associate to provide daily enrichment, snacks and class for a cohort of students. This person is responsible for preparing daily lessons. Additional responsibilities include creating unit Plan, following Creative Action teaching pedagogy, classroom management, supply maintenance and ordering and safety for their assigned class(es).
Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, Teaching Artists will be responsible for implementing/and or supervising additional safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for all staff and students in our in-person programs. This may include working with the individual school districts and their specific COVID-19 procedures. Creative Action monitors Austin-Travis County and CDC recommendations for COVID-19. Building protocols are implemented and regularly updated to ensure each employee’s health and wellbeing. All staff are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot as soon as they are eligible. If you are unable to receive the vaccine for health, religious, or personal reasons, staff have the option to complete an exemption form for review.

The Program
Creative Action AmeriCorps service members help provide critical high-quality after school care and summer learning programs to youth in the greater Austin area. Service members serve as educators and creatives at one of our many after school sites, playing an integral role in delivering hands-on, arts-based projects that support social and emotional development and 21st century skills.
Why serve with Creative Action?
Youth and families in Central Texas have a critical need for affordable, accessible, high-quality after school and summer learning programs (also known as Out-of-School Time or “OST” programs) that help young people to be safe, supported, and school-ready. However, current after school and summer enrichment programs are not sufficient to meet the need among youth, families, and schools. As federal funding for OST programs has dwindled in Austin, demand for after school and summer care among working families rises (Austin ISD ACE, 2021). Additionally, low-income students and students of color in Central Texas are more likely to experience chronic absenteeism, not graduate in four years, and drop out, highlighting systemic inequities and opportunity gaps (E3 Alliance, 2021).
Creative Action’s OST programs address these critical needs by providing access to free and affordable, arts-based after school programs to 2,000+ youth in grades PreK-8th on 35+ campuses every year, as well as eight weeks of summer learning programs. The vast majority of youth we serve attend Title I, low-income schools or come from low-income families.
As an AmeriCorps member with Creative Action, you will serve at one of our after school sites each calendar school day (Monday-Friday), as well as participating in program preparation and logistics, professional development, and family and campus engagement activities. When Austin ISD schools are closed, you will also participate in professional development and/or service learning activities that support our work in the community. And, members will support our camps at schools and community sites during the summer months.
