Aww, cripes. I didn't know I'd have to write a description. How many words is that so far, like a hundred? Soooo, yeah. Mildly interesting stuff. Stuff that interests you. Mildly. It's in the name, ffs.

2024.05.28 07:28 Selanne00008 Sharing current status for words of advice

Current stats: Age: 41 HCoL area and not leaving Spouse : yes Kids: yes (4.5 and 4 months)
Fun stuff: Income: 160k +10% bonus 401k: 310k Roth IRA: 40k Savings: 10k
Monthly Expenses: Mortgage: Yes, on 30 year 5.5% bought in spring 2022. Monthly cost $5,000 (5k is split with wifey). Mortgage has 630k left. Prop value is right at 1M. Car: yes $700 payment (I know) Gas: $100 (hybrid SUV) Food/grocery: $1,000 Kids activities: $300 527 plans: $400
Savings action items: Current company has a great pension. If I work until 60 pension would be roughly $3,800/month. It’s a super stable career with locked in 4% min raises annual.
Both kids have 527 plans. Luckily they both got a generous start up gift from a relative and both have 20k to start.
I also contribute 8% of my pay to each of my 403b and 457 plans offered, which add to the 401k (I currently do 6% pretax, and 2% Roth in each). The max on each plan is 22.5k but I’m nowhere near investing the max. To be clear on this, the 403b and 457 plans offered has a max contribution of 22.5k each that can be pretax or post tax dollars.
Other Properties: - condo with 295k left on mortgage at 3.5%. Current value is 480k. Rent just covers the expenses barely (PITI plus maintenance fees and coop rental fees). Projected pay off in 2047
The duplexes might be owned long term, but the coop will most likely be sold in the next 4-6 years. That equity could be put towards our current primary principle or invested into a brokerage (if so, which one?!).
I went crazy on the property stuff when I was Fire driven and hated my job. Luckily got in and established before covid and equity is up, even if relatively speaking they aren’t high end places. Now I like my job (not love, it’s still just a job), had kids and lost tracking everything. But now I’m back!
My expenses right now total up to about $6000 monthly (but that’s with pension contribution + 401), 75k annual. Even if the primary mortgage is paid down early, I’d rather factor an annual spend around 85k since unfortunately, golf is an expensive hobby.
SS: projected to max out or so. I think last I checked was $2600 if taking it early, 4k if collecting at 70.
I don’t have a hot take here. Just opening up to comments/suggestions. With the first probably being trade down to a more reasonable car, ya dummy.
A couple questions though:
I find it a bit hard to find a solid Fire # with a mortgage that, if not paid down sooner doesn’t end until I’m 69 years old (how depressing!). And also the pension factor. Hard to figure out if I’m well on my way, or even behind.
I don’t really plan to retire before at least kids are in college, and that would put me at 59 years old anyways. I suppose I would if I could a couple years sooner, but I don’t have a massive fire burning to retire ASAP. 55 seems like a nice round # though! But not sure it’s feasible.
Was always aggressive on investments with high tolerance (oddly enough never got into crypto). 401/roths are all 100% aggressive stocks.
Forgot to add: Wifey is way more ahead of me. 700K + and 200k of that being Roth, very frugal but also hardly ever checks in her investments. Probly once a year and it’s only because I bring it up.
Thx for reading!

2024.05.27 07:37 FUZEDLABS Glock Standard mag - Dummy Extension Mods for Aesthetics Only?

I've got a friend who lives in a state with 10 rounds max capacity allowed in their mags. He has a glock that he wants to look as if it is an extended 33rd magazine, however, just a fake or dummy slide-on extension for a standard glock magazine. Does anything like this exist? I know its kind of a rare thing, but when it comes to guncad, I know there's always the "why not?" factor... so I figured maybe someone knows about one out there. Thanks in advance. I wanted to make him something like this and show him why 3D printing is the coolest hobby. In my head, its something like a standard baseplate, just a really tall one.

2024.05.27 04:50 passports_parakeets Dimmy & Dummy spend Memorial Day Weekend at Possum Kingdom Lake and Mermaid Kate is Fed Creepy Lines by the Lizard King along with a HLTH Code Shake

Monday
It’s officially summer! Time to break out the unicorn sprinkler and run up and down screaming in the side yard dog run with neighbor boy Harry until you collapse on the Astroturf in exhaustion and the neighbors pack up and move.
Harry: Whew, I’m ready for a break! Mrs. Dim, do you have any snacks? Dimmy: Not now, Harry, I’m shilling these giant Minky blankets! Harry: Blankets!? It’s 90 degrees out! Dimmy: Make sure your Mom watches my stories and uses my code when you get home! Harry: Stevie Kate, does your mom have any popsicles? Sugar-Free Kate: Oh heck no. Those have sugar in them. Harry: What do you usually eat for a snack in the summertime? Stevie Kate: Rotisserie chicken but we’re out of it. Harry: What else do you guys have? Karb-Free Kate: Ummm…. It looks like there are leftover boxes of stale Magic Spoon on the pantry floor. They’re pretty old; we haven’t had a code in awhile. Harry: Alright, let’s have those I guess.
Done with her blanket shill, Dimmy found the tots laying on the ground elbows deep in bags of Magic Spoon cereal. Dimmy: Did you play too hard? Stevie Kate: Mumble mumble mumble.. Dimmy: What’s that? I can’t hear you! Stevie Kate: Our teeth are stuck together from this gross low-carb cereal that tastes like metal. Dimmy: HEE HAW DONKEY HONK. Time to put your tutu on! Ballet starts today so you can keep up with Remi Denner!
Meanwhile Dummy was left out of the summer fun as he reluctantly reported to work over at Turtle Creek Lane with his backpack full of laptops, AirPods in and baseball cap on.
Tuesday
Stevie Kate: Wake up, wake up, wake up! Mommy, London’s not waking up! Dimmy: We need to take her out of her swaddle first. Stevie Kate: Or I could just keep leaning on this bassinet until it tips over. That will wake her up. Mommy, is she getting bigger yet? Dimmy: Of course she is, I don’t starve her like some sick clown would. Why do you want London to get older anyway? Sister Kate: I want her to get bigger so I can play with her! She needs to walk and chase me and jump on my trampoline and hold hands! Dimmy: Oh that will be so fun. Don’t worry, you won’t have long to wait. She’s not Lily!
Dimmy: So I went to the county clerk’s office and said I need a passport for London! I’m here to get a birth certificate. And they said ok, you need a copy of your birth certificate? And I said no, for London! And they were like, ma’am you are going to London, correct? What is your name then? And I was like of course I’m not going to London, don’t you know who I am? I have over 786,000 followers and our vacation destination is still a secret! I’m not leaking that information to you. London is my BABY! Anyways, stab stab stab it’s LUNCHTIME! We have more Factor meals in this house than we have deflating balloons! You literally just heat them up in the microwave. Perfect for lazy fucks like us. OK so check this out. I get the low calorie option. Then I throw the rice in the trash. Then I give half of what’s left to Stevie Kate. I eat the remaining three bites! These meals would also work great for you fat poors with jobs! They’re not just for influencers who laze about on their phones all day and watch their bank accounts grow thanks to Factor and other codes. You won’t have to spend $20 going out to lunch everyday with your coworkers! That’s totally what people who work do right? I wouldn’t really know. 🤷‍♀️
Dimmy: Here Stevie Kate, you can eat the rest of my Factor meal. I’m done with my shill. Sitter Kate: No thanks, I’m not hungry. I already polished off an entire rotisserie chicken I found in the fridge. Dimmy: What are you doing? Sitter Kate: Helping London with tummy time. I found these Lovevery toys that look like they’ll be good for her development so she can hurry up and grow big and play with me! Dimmy: Woooow. Where did you get those? Sitter Kate: From one of the cardboard boxes in that giant stack of influencer promo packages by the front door. London: Fak-tuh! Dimmy: OMG did you hear that?? London said her first word already! Factor!
Thursday
It was a dark and stormy day.
Splish Splash Kate: Mommy! I want to go jump in muddy puddles like Peppa! Dimmy: Oooh that will make great content for World Dirtle Day. Let me grab my boots too so I can join in for ✨views✨. Stormy Kate: No! I don’t want to set up some camera angle for Instagram and stomp around in frame, I just want to play and jump around in puddles like a normal kid. Dimmy: Sorry, yesterday was your day off. You never get two in a row. It’s back to work today!
Dimmy: Hey, what are we on the hunt for? Stevie Splains: I already told you! Puddles! Dimmy: What kind of puddles? Stevie Sighs: Are you dumb? Wait, don’t answer that. Dimmy: I’m asking you again so I can set up the story for the friends in Mommy’s phone! Oh look, London is here! Dear friends in Mommy’s phone, Steven thought she might want to watch the muddy puddle jumping fun after her nap!! 💗 Stevie Kate: Stop lying. Daddy texted you back “Do I have to?” when you asked him to come film us for Instagram. Dimmy: 🕺💦 Splish splash, splish splash! 🕺💦 Stevie Kate: 🙄 Okay, Little Miss Actress. That’s enough of that. Daddy shouldn’t be dangling London 24 feet above concrete one-handed while filming. And your fake little Mom of the Year puddle dance for the gram got mud all over my princess dress. Bath time? Dimmy: Heck no, that’s an actual chore plus we can’t use it for content. Just run back and forth through your unicorn sprinkler a few times.
Dimmy: Hey Douche Canoe, what kind of shit do we have to shill today? Dummy: Digs around in Nordace backpack. Let’s see. Is it on laptop number two or four? Checks contract. Warby Parker. We’re supposed to go try on glasses in store. Dimmy: But neither one of us wear glasses. Dummy: So? Neither one of us drinks Armra Colostrum either. It’s easy money. I wore glasses back in high school. I’ll dig those up and pretend I need a new pair. Dimmy: I’ll grab the car keys.
Dummy: 🤓 What do you think of this pair? Dimmy: You look like Jeffrey Dahmer. Maybe I should pretend to get glasses instead. What do you think of these? Dummy: You look like Kaylee Andrew minus the pink eye.

2024.05.27 01:01 catnapbook Super slow half-marathon success!

This novella summarizes my most recent half-marathon.
Stats – Completion time: 3 hrs 43 minutes. Run time: 3 hrs 33 minutes, walking time 10 minutes. Average heart rate 143 bpm.
Me – Chubby grandmother who runs like a chubby grandmother. Turning 60 this year, about 40 lbs overweight, love, love, love working towards distance, hate, hate, hate working towards speed. Super slow. Aiming for a 60k towards the end of the year just because I want to say I did a 60k the year I turned 60. I consider myself a lazy runner. Coach Greg McMillan would call me an endurance monster.
Prior running history - I started running in late 2020 and by early January 2021 was very surprised to find that I enjoyed it. First half marathon (virtual) in May 2021 with a time of 3 hours and 50 minutes. First marathon in 2022 with a best half marathon of 3 hrs as part of the marathon training block. Ran 900 km each year for the first two years and then only 300 km in 2023. Took a year off last year because of extended travel that had too many forest fires and bears. Also other life situations got in the way. Started desperately missing the running after the travel ended and decided to start again.
Training – I have a year membership to Coach Parry's Running Through Menopause and followed the running program for the most part, but didn't do much in the way of strength training. The longest run with this training block was just over 2.5 hrs and 15 km. With the year break last year, I essentially started running from scratch last October and spent November – January trying out MAF training, and then fully immersing myself in the half marathon training in February. I had initially set a 3hr half marathon goal but realized pretty quickly that I wasn’t going to be able to reach that without risking injury and sustainability and decided to just let the half play out. It's all about building endurance and the 60k goal.
Goals – make it feel easy, allow self-grace, don’t get hurt, and enjoy. Very much accomplished - ~one of the best runs of my life!~
Details and conditions – This was a solo virtual run, date of choosing. Weather was 15-20C, cloudy, and I was able to run in a lot of shade. Pavement for about half the run, worn asphalt, gravel, and dirt trails for the other half. Very flat, no wind. Beautiful scenery.
Music and other support – Started with Mark Knopfler, middle was Crash Test Dummies, and final was Neil Diamond. I also used a 21k Coach Bennet guided run from the Nike Run Club App, but accidentally turned that off at about 12k and didn’t realize until about 17k that I had done that. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to his guided runs, I strongly suggest you do so.
Nutrition and hydration – one banana marshmallow every km as a reward. Gummies and gels after 45 minutes and about every half hour after that. A salt tablet about every 30-40 minutes. Drank about 1.5 L of water flavoured with Ribena. I felt that this was a good pattern for me. I had under-fueled for the marathon and didn’t want to do that again. I do think I need to work on hydration. I run with a hydration bladder and it's hard to judge my intake since I can't see the bladder on my back.
Running physically – No black toenails! But the limiting factor by the end of the run was the bottoms of my feet. They were so, so very sore and this really started to impact the run by about km 17. Interestingly enough, I also started to experience calf muscle spasms the last three km and they were pretty sore the next day. That’s never happened before. Some quad soreness a few hours later but didn’t notice them during the run. Couldn’t tell I had run a half within a couple of days except for my feet. I’m going to go to the local running store and see if I need a change in my shoes, currently running in Brooks Adrenalines. My three laps around the ring on a Clydesdale horse a few days before the run were actually harder for recovery than the half was.
Running mood - Took about 5k to get my rhythm, by 10k I knew it was a good run, by 15k I knew I was going to make it and shed some happy tears, 17k started to get harder but I knew I could do it, and the last km was really difficult just because of my feet. Definitely a runner’s high for most of the run, at times I was overwhelmed by the gratitude I had for everything in my life. It was great during this run to compare this half to my first half and see how far I had come mentally. It was awesome!
Post-run thoughts - I feel good - a little pinched at my time and how much fitness I had lost during my year hiatus, but I feel like the 60k is achievable. I know it's just practice and time on feet that will get my time down, and that's just patience. I finally feel motivated to maybe try losing some weight and to do better at strength training since I realize that they will be key to my success. But overall, I'm still smiling over a week later at how wonderful the run felt.

2024.05.26 21:13 chihiro_itou Extremely Important advice for 2025 droppers - Those who are asking offline v/s online coaching

I got 95%ile in 2023 January (after 2 years offline coaching+dummy)... Everyone thought I would easily get 99%ile in drop year. But I didn't! I fucked up really bad. My mains rank is worse than last year. (it still hurts a lot). Advanced didn't go that well but lets see...
So here's my advice: PLEASE take offline coaching if it's available to you. I considered myself oversmart so I decided to go with online yt material and study alone at home. And yes, YT does have enough resources to crack Jee advanced. But you know what went wrong? My mental health.
I tried to find jee peer group online on discord but it didn't help. None of those people on discord were studios.... Real life friends are just different. You have no idea how much a good peer group/healthy competition can boost your prep.
Studying alone in your room 24/7 for 1 year is enough to drive anyone crazy. It destroyed my sanity. I didn't go out at all. I got so lonely, I made up imaginary friends and wasted HOURS talking to them. Completely lost touch with reality. Got depressed because of having wasted so much time. Became nihilistic. Started thinking everything is meaningless and nothing matters anyway. My self esteem dropped extremely low after seeing how good offline coaching droppers were doing. After mains 2024 result I cried so much every day I had to literally puke several times.
Meanwhile ALL those who scored less than me in 2023 scored much more than me this year (and I'm happy for them). Every single dropper around me improved... even if by 1-2%ile... everyone who went to offline coaching improved.... except me.
Just 1 friend of mine took the same path as me (online coaching from home) and he didn't even qualify for advanced (last year at least he had qualified)
I'm not saying everyone who takes online coaching fails. A lot of them succeed. But probability bohot zyada hai offline coaching mein success ki. Environment factor matters A LOT. Talking to real life humans keeps you sane and in touch with reality and competition.
So unless you are some kind of demigod with insane discipline, JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE OFFLINE COACHING.
For those can't afford offline/don't have any coaching nearby: Join a library or something. Don't fucking join discord for studying. Zyada offline ke FOMO mein mat ana. Agar mehnat karoge to ho jayega pakka se. Try to find real life JEE peer group. Humans are social animals. We can't live alone. It drives the best of us crazy.
Partial drop ka mujhe koi idea nahi hai
edit: forgot to mention, I had a very bad sleep schedule which also contributed to poor concentration, poor decision making, and other mental issues. Sone aur uthne ka time fix hona chahiye. Coaching ki wajah se sleep schedule bhi fixed rehta hai

2024.05.26 20:38 yeoldesuffrin Books with high tension and slowwwwwwwww burn and plausible deniability until the very end🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️#enemiestolovers #slowburn #tension #E2L

***I apologize in advance because I know this is specific, dummy long and VERY scattered but I am hoping someone else on here is similarly mentally ill and can help me replenish my dopamine supply 🤧🤧🤧***
Basically, can anyone recommend a (non contemporary romance) book / series that has tension that makes you want to physically implode but because the characters are so damaged and/or the situation is so deranged they can deny their relationship and feelings until the end of time and thus I as the reader can bathe in their tension to escape the horrors of reality for as long as humanly possible????🫣🫣🫣But also it's still believable that they don't know they like each other?? As in the main character isn't describing the love interest as "surprisingly tender" or "dangerously beautiful" etc etc. In the era of global warming, I am seeking the bitter chill of hatred or indifference for as long as possible.
I’m thinking Kaz and Inej “nothing happens but everything is happening” vibes from Six of Crows mixed with the elaborate worldbuilding that delivered that zesty and high stakes tension from the beginning half of the Captive Prince series??? Basically I want a story that focuses on the tension and prolongs or never even allows the characters to admit their true feelings but also feels zesty and the plot is well thought out and somewhat believable???
Like if the MCs have any physical contact or romantic/sexual things happen it’s because they are forced into it due to the diabolical circumstances and yes the readers are dying from the tension but the characters can DENY DENY DENY and still hate/be cold each other??? Or if the love interest does something nice it can be CONVINCINGLY explained away as logical / strategically advantageous rather than because they care???? Bonus points if you as the reader aren’t actually sure if the love interest cares or is actually a good person and it doesn’t matter because the stares and the cutting arguments and the verbal and/or physical fights are just so 🤌🤌🤌
I truly don’t mind tropes as long as they actually make sense in the story and don’t seem like a thinly veiled way to make the characters interact. Open to any gender / sexuality / appearance of the MCs as long as the tension makes me want to punch myself in the face. Don't mind spice but I tend to avoid high spice because I feel like sex is basically the point of no return in admitting they are into each other and it's much harder to have plausible deniability than with a kiss or pining or something. Usually once the characters boink I am fighting for my life not to DNF because the "will they won't they" has been answered with "they will and they already did" and the tension has deflateddddd.
Books I've read that didn't fill the void:
Things I DO NOT vibe with:
Things I DO vibe with:
Idk if what I want even exists or could even exist since it's v contradicting but if you can think of anything that somewhat fits this energy, pleaseeeeee lmk!!!
Truly thank you if you read this far and if you relate I extend my deepest sympathies 💪😖

2024.05.25 01:35 Erica-likes-cats Season 4 is a step in the right direction, where to next?

Overall i think S4 is a strong step forward for D4, but its a game with plenty of room to grow still. Here’s what i want to see in the game, what do y’all want for d4 going forward? My thoughts are mostly QOL and to improve the current state of the game rather than to suggest sweeping changes
Bosses: * After i kill a boss respawn the summing altar so i dont have to do 2 load screens to go again * Maybe make the lower tier bosses scale or add a mid tier? I can basically 1 shot the bosses right now but tormented ones are out of reach until i optimize further. Would be nice to have a bossing option atm thats not 2 load screens, a trivial micro dungeon, and a 1 shot boss that drops mostly non 925 loot
Open world: * i love mind cage. I’d love even more to be able to stack a few of them and use them outside of helltide * legion events need some love. Im not even sure what theyre actually good for
Loot: * Loot filter please, i basically dont care about many drops unless they have what i want. Even if other shit drops maybe dont show it by default unless it matches my criteria or is a mog/aspect upgrade * can we stop seeing white/blue items in wt3 and also rares in wt4? * sell all items at vendor in one click or maybe a sell all non-legendary so i dont have to mass junk or individually sell each item * do higher level enemies drop better loot with higher greater affix chances? If not then they should for that risk reward tradeoff * uniques are generally too weak in loot reborn. Shit ranges on things like +damage dont help, nontempering doesnt help, and especially 2h weapons and amulets need to be god tier to compete with boosted aspects, maybe give uniques another affix or something idk * is impairment reduction just the worst stat now? Why build for this when i can run 1 source of unstoppable or just avoid the cc. Too much opportunity cost please remove this stat * give Druid, sorc, and necro an additional item slot to hold some sort of stat stick relic in that only takes weapon/offense tempers and aspects (at 2h levels of scaling) to gain parity with rogue and come closer to barb for better ease in class balance. Yes i know necro is in this list and is very strong rn but good idea for balancing down the road imo
The pit: * allow for me to spend resources when joining someone else in the pit to still get the full reward. Currently Pitting with friends is not terribly efficient * allow me to apply my conditional DRs to shadow bosses so they arent useless or have them use the state of the actual boss for DR calc * remember the last pit level i selected unless i was pushing my max
Social: * group finding tools in game * in game auction house or trading system to facilitate trading without a 3rd party platform
UI: * allow me to skip various UI animations by default with a menu option toggle * minimap overlay please. I get that bliz wants us looking at the admittedly very good art imo but im looking up at the minimap a lot anyway instead of the game * boss summon materials in the ui instead of inventory maybe? Like crafting mats
Misc: * a combat log so i can more easily review what abilities are doing how much damage or see what obliterated me a bit easier, especially since my own spell effects make seeing things tough sometimes. Maybe even show my rolling time period dps in the target dummy room * slightly slower leveling so i can appreciate and finish various objectives on level before they are trivial and pointless * put more hp on enemies throughout the game but tapering thiw bonus off at higher levels to match new player power since even on neathiron pits im obliterating most enemies so fast i dont see them do much before they die, but if they do something it really fucking hurts. Also this improves cc value beyond staggering bosses * reduce potion droprate and mob damage to add more attrition to the game overall rather than rocket tag, also makes healing stats/skills/paragon/aspects more valuable * scale armor ever so slightly worse so the cap is like 9999 or 10000. 9230 hurts my ocd. Or better so that 9k even is the cap and we can meme about being over 9 thousand * don’t forget my mog option for weapon types im not currently using in saved sets * more things that can happen in NMD or the world akin to butcher encounters, scary but rewarding. Currently butcher dies before i realize its im sometimes removing the scary factor
Skills and Paragon: * let me buy (in game gold not $) loadout tabs to save skills and paragon for quick swaps in town maybe and a better option to detach 1 board in paragon. * work on paragon boards a bit to match loot reborn better * something else on the first node i can grab other than a basic skill so i dont have to waste 2 points on builds that dont run one

2024.05.24 20:51 Yakuza-wolf_kiwami Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Fallen from grace (Kio's Arc)

I think I hate this arc. I don't know why, but I couldn't help but cringe throughout this arc. This was probably the moment where every problem in this arc is cranked to 11. The arc goes by too fast, old characters are essentially useless, new characters add nothing, copying more shit from 0079, and adding ridiculous shit to the AG. Everyone who has seen this anime, universally hates this arc for many reasons. This was when AGE began showing its cracks. Now let's see how much this arc butchers this arc.

2024.05.24 03:10 Bookwrrm Armor and Building in .18

With the advent of 6 items, and essentially an entire flex slot opened up into any given build, we need to talk about building defense on squishy characters. Especially now that health has been globally buffed, armor is at an extreme premium for building effective health, as armor’s effectiveness is multiplied by the health it's applying to. First let’s establish a testing dummy, level 18 Gideon, with a fairly normal high power mana stacking build, Azure core, combustion, mega, caustica, truesilver, oblivion crown. This ends up being 627 magical power, 3135 hp, with the shield from soulbinder, truesilver and azure core factored in, 4693 hp. To a Steel bot, a full kit dump of passive damage, q, rmb, and ult from this build does about 3,738 damage with mega calculated at 3k hp to give a baseline. This build has the 76 base armor that Gideon has at level 18, this makes his effective hp to physical damage 5517 with no shields, and 8,259 with shields included. Now let's experiment and take out a damage item, in this case megacosm, and add in a defense item, tainted guard. This takes him to 524 power, 3385 base health, shields 4843 hp. His kit dump damage, not factoring in bleed from tainted, is 3266 damage. His armor is 116, this brings his effective health against physical damage with shields to 10460. Now let's compare, going defense item lowered his damage output by about 12%. It increased his effective health by about 26%.
Now math is not everything in a moba, but I think it's pretty clear to anyone that has gotten this far that on a stat level, going one defense item over a 6th damage item is a larger effective health increase than the decrease in damage, both as a raw number, over 2k effective hp vs around 400 damage, and as a percentage gain, 12% loss in damage for a 26% increase in effective health. This also shows the outsized impact that defensive items have with specifically mage builds right now, as the absolutely massive raw hp pool that azure core passive and soulbinder give you is pretty astonishing multiplied out with armor into effective health. What does this all mean? Well in the actual game what's more important than raw stats is break points, ie, does building that 12% more damage achieve a kill in a full rotation, or does that 26% more health keep you alive through a full rotation. Those breakpoints change based on what gameplay scenarios you are discussing, does 26% more hp let me survive that gideon meteor at low hp, does that 12% give my ult enough damage to kill the half hp drongo etc. What I can say is that 2k effective hp is obviously going to hit way more survivability breakpoints than the 400 odd damage will hit kill breakpoints, given the sheer raw stat difference. There is not a single item in this game that will be adding a full 2k damage to your all in, while there are hp items that flat out give you more hp than than that 400 damage, there is just such a stat difference between the two values that one will inherently just hit more of those all important breakpoints that are changing at all times. Will there be scenarios where you needed just a bit more damage to finish that khai? Yes. Will there be way more scenarios where having 2k extra effective health would be extremely important? Also yes. Now if you are playing with the assumption that you are in coms and have perfect peel and can just free cast with your team, obviously more damage is better, but 99.9999% of people are not playing in those situations, so I do think with the extra slot, and the big hp increase but armor decrease everyone got, that there should be serious consideration from players to build defense items in their final slots this patch rather than just another damage item. Remember you have infinitely more damage output if you are alive and casting than if you are dead and not casting.
This is again all based on just raw kit dump numbers, this doesn’t take into account enemy pen levels lowering that effective health, or enemy defense levels lowering the damage of a kit dump. It also is much more relevant to mages than ADC, as mages right now have access to mind boggling larger effective health in a normal build than ADC will due to how nuts the current mana stacking is with azure core new passive. But with caveats the takeaway should be that especially in solo q where a given carry is very likely to not be getting great peel at all times, that you should seriously consider building a defense item in this meta, because the downside in damage is much less than the upside is in defensive stats.

2024.05.23 22:41 Practical-Type988 I’m so defeated, need advice

For context:
I’m 19 years old and I graduated highschool in 2022 with a 0.3 gpa, no that’s not a typo. I got a D in algebra 1 and failed algebra 2 and that’s the only math that I took, for the past 6 months I have been trying to teach myself algebra 1 because I have a dream of becoming an electrical engineer due to my fascination with electricity, also it pays a lot and with the state of the economy I want a career that is going to help me live comfortably.
I start community college in August and I’m starting out in trig, I’m majoring in math which I will then transfer with an associates to a university to study engineering.
I’ve been using a website called Greenemath, and I’m 70% of the way through the algebra 1 course he has, I’ve been grasping the concepts with diligent practice and even finding fun in it sometimes, but slowly I’ve been building up frustration in the back of my head about not having a teacher or tutor (can’t afford one) to help me with questions I have about rules in specific circumstances. I’ve been using chat gpt as a tutor but sometimes it fails me miserably (I even have chatgpt 4).
Just today I was working on rational equations and looking to find x, using rules I learned from rational expressions and factoring polynomials, and I hit a breaking point. The test that Greenemath provided was giving me some trouble, after finding online that the method to find the answer wasn’t even the way he taught me in the video, I was left very confused and annoyed looking at the alternate steps found online. And all of my anger burst about the fact that I just need a teacher to help me instead of me being left to figure it out on my own.
I want to be prepared for trig in august, but I’m not sure if what I’m doing is going to help me be prepared anymore, I feel defeated. If anyone has any advice please comment, thank you.

🔗Historical M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine Denix Replicas Model

The Denix Replicas Paratrooper Model M1A1 Carbine is a remarkable airsoft accessory that resembles the real deal. Its hand-painted finish adds a touch of nostalgia to this piece of history.
The folding stock function is a highlight, providing easy maneuverability and making it look and feel authentic. However, the product's weight might be a bit on the lighter side compared to a real M1A1, although this won't have any impact on gameplay or functionality.
Overall, this replica is a fantastic choice for airsoft enthusiasts and history lovers alike, offering a great blend of design and functionality.

🔗Black AK47 Airsoft Gun Model Kit with Wood-Grain Design

https://preview.redd.it/hejmll9p542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=298a3877609cb4e044b19ea9eba41433c87d41ab
Asking any gun enthusiast to name their favorite firearm model, you'd likely hear the AK-47 mentioned before nearly any other. This legendary piece of history, designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in the late 1940s, has become an icon. Now, thanks to GoatGuns, there's a way to experience the thrill of owning an AK-47 without the legal hassle or fear of causing any harm.
What stood out in my experience, though, was the miniature version of the AK-47, the 11-inch miniature that they offer. Despite its small size, the model is incredibly intricate, with every piece fitting together like a real AK-47. The adjustable sight and bolt carrier action were particularly impressive, creating a level of realism not often seen in miniature models.
The GoatGuns version is perfect for those who want a taste of the real AK-47 without the responsibility, cost, or risk. Plus, its size makes it super easy to transport and display anywhere you like, without anyone knowing it's a replica.
However, just like the real AK-47, it is not perfect either. The most noticeable downside is that it does not cycle dummy rounds, which can be a minor disappointment for those who are used to real rifles. But given the size and complexity, it's highly understandable that the feature had to be omitted.
All in all, the GoatGuns AK-47 model is an impressive piece that any gun nut will likely appreciate. It may not be a real AK-47, but it does come close in terms of detail and realism. If you're a fan of the AK-47, I highly recommend adding this miniature model to your collection.

🔗Revolutionary Co2 Dart Blaster: Umarex OpSix Indoor Warfare Game Pistol

https://preview.redd.it/2sfsfwop542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81bfcf91cfc95e9470389c7acd3c11604bcc04c3
The Umarex Rekt OpSix Pistol Red is a reinvented indoor warfare game with its new OPSIX Series Co2 Dart Blaster. Constructed from polymer, it is lightweight and can withstand hard falls.
This hand gun shoots foam darts faster and farther than standard single-load dart shooters, requiring only one insertion and pull of the trigger to aim and shoot. Made particularly easy for younger dart shooters, the manual safety also teaches responsibility and safe gun handling. Users appreciate the satisfying pop made by the gun while parents love the ease of use.
Supervision by adults is always necessary for any youth activity, but the simplicity and safety features of the Umarex Rekt OpSix Pistol Red make it a good choice for indoor fun.

🔗Accurate M16A1 Non-Firing Airsoft Gun Replica

https://preview.redd.it/ju2uxqjq542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00d90163a13b1da4011f86be9798fe2d7f26e15f
As an airsoft enthusiast, I've had the chance to try out the Denix 1133 M16A1 Rifle Replica. It's a solid piece of equipment, reminiscent of the iconic military rifle used back in the 60s to the 80s.
One thing that immediately caught my attention was its attention to detail - it honestly feels like a real weapon with its working mechanisms. However, one downside that I've noticed is that it's non-firing, which might be a disappointment for some who are looking for a more interactive experience. Overall, though, it has been a great addition to my airsoft collection, and I look forward to using it more in upcoming games.

🔗Non-Firing Winchester Lever-Action Reproducible Rifle

https://preview.redd.it/1bfyerjq542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a887156cf5f2d95cf78e00e37036c733b45f0410
Recently, I had the opportunity to try out this replica Winchester 1873 rifle. As someone who appreciates the craftsmanship that goes into these reproductions, I was pleasantly surprised by the detail and weight of this piece. Holding it, you can feel the authenticity of the design, with its engraved silver finish and octagonal barrel that harkens back to a time when guns were crafted with precision.
However, one thing that stood out in my experience was the non-functioning mechanism. As a replica, it's expected that you can't actually fire it, but I was a bit disappointed that you couldn't simulate the loading process either. Other than that, I think it's an excellent addition to any collection, be it for aesthetic purposes or for use in photoshoots or performances. It certainly adds a touch of authenticity to any setting, and with its sturdy construction, it will likely last quite a while.

Buyer's Guide

Airsoft competitions have gained immense popularity over the years, attracting countless enthusiasts and professionals who love the excitement and challenge that comes with shooting realistic replicas in a safe, controlled environment. These competitions require high-quality, reliable airsoft guns that can perform consistently under pressure. In this guide, we'll discuss the essential features, considerations, and advice for selecting the best competition airsoft gun to meet your needs.

Feature 1: Accuracy and Precision

https://preview.redd.it/p038ovrq542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1105eb8cf5532d54421713b34bc77bd99cf4f982
One of the most important aspects of a competition airsoft gun is its accuracy and precision. The gun should deliver consistent, reliable shots, allowing you to hit your targets with ease. Look for airsoft guns with adjustable hop-ups, which help you control the trajectory of the BBs, and high-quality barrels that ensure a tight, consistent velocity throughout the magazine.

Feature 2: Power and Rate of Fire

Power and rate of fire are crucial factors to consider when choosing a competition airsoft gun. You need a gun that can deliver sufficient power to penetrate targets, as well as a high rate of fire to keep up with the fast-paced nature of competitions. Look for airsoft guns with powerful motors, high-capacity batteries, and adjustable gearboxes that allow for customization in rate of fire.

Feature 3: Durability and Reliability

When investing in a competition airsoft gun, durability and reliability should be top priorities. The gun should be constructed with high-quality materials that can withstand the rigors of competition, such as metal inner barrels and sturdy plastic external parts. Additionally, it's essential to choose a gun from a reputable manufacturer with a proven track record of producing reliable airsoft replicas.

https://preview.redd.it/haij9eqr542d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b28df4151e1ad36e94f38830ea0eb8826be2e567

Consideration 1: Budget

While it's tempting to go for the most expensive airsoft gun on the market, it's essential to consider your budget before making a purchase. High-end airsoft guns can come with an exorbitant price tag, but they may not offer the performance or features that you need for competition. Set a reasonable budget and look for airsoft guns that provide the best value for your money, balancing features, performance, and cost.

Consideration 2: Compatibility with Accessories and Upgrades

To remain competitive in airsoft, it's essential to continually upgrade and improve your gear. Look for airsoft guns that are compatible with a wide range of accessories, such as different stocks, scopes, and red dot sights. Additionally, consider a gun with a modular design, which allows for easy customization and upgrading to meet your evolving needs.

General Advice

  • Always focus on your target and practice good trigger control during competitions.
  • Invest in high-quality BBs, as cheap or low-quality BBs can negatively impact your gun's performance and accuracy.
  • Regularly maintenance your competition airsoft gun to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
When searching for the perfect competition airsoft gun, it's crucial to consider factors such as accuracy, power, durability, budget, and compatibility with accessories and upgrades. By choosing a reliable airsoft gun that meets these criteria and putting in the necessary practice, you'll be well-prepared to dominate the competition and push your skills to the limit.

2024.05.23 03:49 Ratio01 Which version should I hunt for?

Twilight Princess is the only 3D Zelda, one of the only Zelda games in general, I haven't played yet. I hunted down WiiU about a month precisely so I could (and to play WWHD, which I have), but I'm torn on which version to get.
As I'm sure you're all are aware, HD is dummy expensive. It's never in stock in this retro game store I somewhat frequent either, nor GameStop. The aforementioned retro game store did have the Wii port last couple times I was there tho
I mainly want HD because I wanna upgrade my Wolf Link amiibo for future BotW playthroughs, I like the models and textures better in the remaster, and of course I wanna justify getting a WiiU. However, as stated, shit is hella expensive, and I do actually prefer GCN/Wii's lighting more and of course the Wii port is way cheaper at only $20-30 from what I've seen. If I can use the WiiU Pro controller on the Wii copy, then that may be my deciding factor.
But I want yalls opinion, which version of TP is generally considered the best? I don't mind paying $100+ for a copy of HD if I have no other option/it's the definitive version of the game

2024.05.23 02:17 Xtianus21 Jensen Huang Delivers Definitive Answers For The New AI Industrial Revolution - Q1 2024 Earnings Call Recap - 10 : 1 split

Best call yet and Jensen is a true master of delivering these calls. This conference call delivered some absolute zingers of quotes from Jensen. He said something to the effect of, We're printing money as GPU's are the new currency. He went on to prove it with for every $1 spent a company would earn over $7 in 4 years. In short, the show goes on; and it may be for years to come. I called this with the split here.
Two takeaways and then I will post the analyst recap questions below.
  1. This new AI industrial revolution has only begun. We are in early innings still. He addressed this by indirectly calling out those who decide to wait on purchasing chips now versus later. Now, this can be a sort of response to the backout of H200's from AWS or perhaps it's not. But, I wrote about that yesterday with the proposition for AWS being in trouble because they are not executing well in their AI game plan while Microsoft, Meta, Google and Tesla so clearly are. AWS, (currently) is the largest cloud provider. BUT, it was very telling they shifted that order because that mean they won't be getting the GB200 chips for so long. Jensen further talked about this in his replies as Time-to-Train. You need to train now to make your profits for later with inference. Getting started later is not advisable because those who train now are gaining a significant advantage.
  2. In relation to point 1, Jensen gave a little hidden nugget that I don't think anyone really noticed. Companies could be really really early in their AI factory build outs. I mentioned that on MSFT earnings call they specifically said and I can verify that there is a throughput problem of delivering AI inference. You can't get as much as you want without paying through the nose bleed VIP section. Meaning, you have to stick with pay-as-you go which is heavily restricted on throughput. That's obvious to me the end user and was spoken to in Microsoft's earnings call. But what Jensen said, was some number of "if you're only 5%" into your build out then over time you will just end up purchasing newer chips anyways. Again, no need wait if you have major plans. Now, to me I think what he is speaking to is that people planning build outs, and everything Sam is saying, there is probably a very small percentage of under 10% of large scale hyperscalers on what their build out is currently at. And, that number won't increase for years to come.
  3. Bonus - They will start getting blackwell money this year even though they won't be delivering it this year. This tells me, in conjunction with point 2, there will probably not be any significant air gaps for years to come. Whatever analyst mentioned that was surely mistaken.
  4. Bonus 2 - Also, Jensen took a dig/shit-on at GROQ gpu's that while groq may be doing something specific and getting good results what we do is fundamentally different and it scales. So he ain't worried by such a thing. That was my interpretation of that alluded to question.
  5. Bonus 3 - 10 for 1 split. What more is there to say.
Here are the call round ups from analysts questions and Jensen reponses. These are my notes and not exact quotes so if you want exact quotes listen to the call.

analyst - When you look forward what frictions need solved.
Jensen - After blackwell there is another chip and we are on a 1 year rhythm. LOL <<< JENSEN flex
New network technology on a very fast rhythm. We are all in on ethernet. REally exciting roadmap for ethernet. DELL DELL DELL. Spectrum X.
Companies can still use computing fabric still the best. The best but we will do both with ethernet and spectrum X.
NVLINK (single computing domain), infiniband, to ethernet. We will do all 3 at a very fast clip.
New nics. new cpu's new switches a mountain of chips.
It all runs CUDA. I am CUDA man.
We will be everywhere. AI AI AI. Pace of innovation will drive up the capability and drive down the TCO on the other hand.
New industrial revolution and we will do that at scale. We manufacture tokens.

analyst - ARM BASED GRACE - real advantage. What are those advantages. Could there be a similar dynamic on the client side - intel, AMD - some advantage nvidia can deliver that others might have a challenge with.
Jensen - We like X86 partners (intel, AMD) BUT GRACE + ARM WE LOVE (LOL). We can configure the system to have custom memory GRace is interconnected. 2 chips are like a super chip and it's really 1 chip. 1TB per second. We save a lot of power on ever single node.
NVLINK is vitally important because we can link all the nodes 72. like 72 blackwells connected as 1 GPU.
ARM + NVIDIA = STRONG!!!

Analyst - GB200 significant demand for systems. How big is the systems business getting so much larger. is it the TCO - great question
Jensen - We sell GB200 is the same. We have 100 different configurations for blackwell. that is off the charts. BUY DELL, VRT and SMCI. lol
Liquid cooling. Air cooled. Human blowing cooled. We cool you cool we cool.
Blackwell - has expanded our offering tremendously. Liquid cooling will save a lot of data centers money and be energy efficient. We now offer a lot more components. New line of business for these billions. WE NOW HAVE ETHERNET. We will cover that too that only know how to operate ethernet. We have a lot more to offer.

analyst - how you're thinking about allocating supply amongst the different hopper products.
Jensen - we do our best for every customer. It is the case our business in china is lower than the levels of the past. So we have more supply for everyone else. Demand outstrips supply for the entire market for H200 and blackwell towards the end of year.

Analyst - drive compute cost down and this is Jensen's motivation. Question, given workloads does general purpose computing framework increase more workloads.
Jensen - We are not general purpose. We don't run spreadsheets. We don't start a pc that is a chip. We are versatile. There are a rich domain of applications that we can accelerate and they all have commonalities. 5% of the code run 99% of the run-time.
The number of startups is fairly large and all of them because of their architecture the moment diffusion and LLM came along - now all of the sudden large language models with memory. So now memory is a bigger issue and Grace's memory became super important.
each generation begs for something that can cover the entire domain of accelerated compute. The software is going to get better and bigger. We are going to scale a million X's.
HE's SHITTING ON GROQ LOL
Own NVDA FOREVER!!!!

analyst - I've never seen the velocity you guys are producing!!! Droning on with pleasantries. speak about how you're seeing the situation evolve with customers regarding older gpu's from nvidia now. AWS QUESTION <<< Good question.
Jensen - if you're 5% into the build out then you have to build as fast as you can. (great reference to AWS). We want customers to see our RM for as far out as we can. YOU CAN'T WAIT. they want to make money today.
Time-to-train is so valuable. You must buy from us now. You can't wait or the company that started early will announce groundbreaking AI and you will miss out if you hesitate.
This is so vital for your leadership. And the platform and build out you're building on matters.
It's why we're standing up hoppers systems like crazy right now.

Analyst - competition. Many competitors have announced competition. <<<< good question
Jensen - We're different. LOL. (jensen wild). We handle the entire pipeline. We handle the entire pipeline from training to inference. Inference is the money driver here. We need to generate an entire cat. This is inference. Tensor RT LLM was so well received. Chips improve this by a factor of 3. You can use this for all modalities of computing. General purpose computing is DEAD. Accelerating computing is how you're going to save money and make money in computing. Lowest TCO in your data center. We're IN THE CLOUD.
3rd reason. We build AI factories - This is becoming more apparent to people. AI is a systems problem. Not just 1 large language models. It's a complicated system working together. NVDA builds the entire system.
If you had a $5 BILL infrastructure if you improve that by a factors of 2 is a value of that is 5 Bill dollars. Performance matters for everything. Highest performance is the lowest cost. You need to maximize your expense

Analyst - any pause with hopper and H100? <<<< good question
Jensen - We see increasing demand of hopper through this quarter. Demand will outstrip supply for some time even through the transition. Everyone needs to get their infrastructure online.

Jensen - lol that's an odd question. The demand is for usage DUMMY. lol. GPT has a demand problem - pay attention to the MSFT call. They are consuming every GPU that's out there. There are a long line of 20,200 startups out there needing our GPUS. We're racing to use our GPU's. Customers are putting a lot of pressure on us. And that's not even sovereign AI and there is a lot of pressure to stand those systems up.
analyst BOA - how do you ensure that GPU's are being used? <<<<< LOL FIRE HIM What a dumb question.

More Number Crunching- How You Should Build Your First Two Items on Jinx in 14.10/14.11
Over a year ago, I made this post, discussing various Jinx builds at the beginning of season 13. Now is the time for a sequel. Once again, I would like to clarify that I am an Emerald Jinx otp in EUW, and so my game knowledge may be questionable, and I would like to only focus on the numbers (which I am more confident about).
In this post, I aim to explore between various options for 1st & 2nd items, compare between their power curves, and try to work out how she should be built in the early- to mid-game, at the moment anyway.

Builds Considered in This Test

I originally did not consider Kraken Slayer, but work done by u/TheScyphozoa has convinced me that Kraken-related builds should at least be discussed. Those are represented by builds 6 and 7 below.
Builds to be tested here
The below image clarifies the more personal elements of my search as well as some other miscellaneous factors.
Miscellaneous factors
Miscellaneous

Methodology

Contrary to my previous tests and work carried out by other people on the matter. In these tests I do not actually observe damage dealt on dummies; instead, I observe stats and calculate the DPS.
For minigun DPS, this is done by calculating AD * ASm * ((1 - Crit%) + (Crit% * CritDamage)) + (1/3 * AS * KrakenDamage);
For rocket DPS, this is done by calculating 1.1 * AD * ASr * ((1 - Crit%) + (Crit% * CritDamage)) + (1/3 * AS * KrakenDamage).
As LDR or any form of armour pen is not discussed here (since we are focusing only on the first two items), all DPS figures you are about to see are raw DPS (meaning damage without taking into account armour and other damage reductions). As we are simply comparing between early builds, it should not be problematic here.

The Data

This is the boring bit, but if you want to see the raw data, this is the place. If you would like to original spreadsheet, you can get it by DMing me.
Meanings of each column:
  • Value - Total gold value of the current items
  • Builds - Of which builds (refer to the numbers mentioned previously) does this situation belong to
  • Item List - Self-explanatory
  • Lvl - Champion Level
  • AD - Attack Damage
  • ASm - Minigun Attack Speed (at 3 stacks)
  • ASr - Rocket Attack Speed
  • CrR - Crit Rate
  • CrD - Crit Damage Multiplier (for builds with IE, already adjusted to 215% to account for incoming nerfs in 14.11)
  • Kraken - Damage of Kraken proc. Kraken damage scales from 100% to 150% based on enemy missing health. For our convenience what you see in the spreadsheets are damage values at 130%.
  • DPSm - Damage per Second with Minigun
  • DPSr - Damage per Second with Rockets
Comparison Between Builds 1-5
Additional Tests Done for Builds 6-7

The Results

We first discuss strictly between the builds that involves building IE and PD in some order. With the help of my very crappy R data visualisation, we have the following plots (I would be happy to share the R script, provided you refrain from laughing at my bad programming practises):
https://preview.redd.it/9ajsenbfrz1d1.png?width=817&format=png&auto=webp&s=f624fe8c0226cf621d773155189f412baa3ac697

Previously, the community debated whether it would be worth it to first finish a Zeal item, or build Zeal, before finishing Infinity Edge. Here, our findings conclude that it simply is not worthwile. We have conclusive evidence, that if you are planning to build IE and PD as your first two items in some order, the correct build order is simply to finish IE before starting to build PD, and buying AS boots at some point during the IE build.
However, things get interesting if we add Kraken into the mix:
https://preview.redd.it/wrmjd1n6sz1d1.png?width=817&format=png&auto=webp&s=33173ad126f900a3fc8665b8aa6e2b1fd5cf047d
Correction - the Y-axis of plot 3 should be "minigun DPS" not "rocket DPS", forgot to change the code while copy and pasting the plots...
https://preview.redd.it/27xq0jp7sz1d1.png?width=817&format=png&auto=webp&s=c2847e85866f48237c55c483a40310785ed1a6c0
As shown by the above plots, at 1 item, Kraken does still provide significantly more DPS compared to IE. This is due to crit rate being an inherantly scaling statistic, as well as IE's extra crit damage not showing its effect until higher crit rate. At 2 items, the Kraken builds still have a slight edge on raw DPS. However, at this stage, minigun attack speed with the Kraken -> PD build already reaches around 2.4, and most people (including myself) will struggle to kite at this attack speed, making its actual effect DPS slightly lower (depending on how well you can kite, of course). Also, Kraken -> IE does more damage than Kraken -> PD anyway.
What does need to be considered, is that from 3 items onwards, IE -> PD builds outperform Kraken -> IE builds, due to reasons we have listed before (crit being an inherently scaling statistic). This is not covered here (as the original starting point of my research is to figure out the correct order to build IE & PD, not even thinking about Kraken at all), but I would like to direct those who are interested to this comment by u/TheScyphozoa.

The Subjective Bit

Will I be building Kraken first?
No, not really. As we have previously shown, the differences in damage is marginal at 2 items (and PD is cheaper than Kraken). What one needs to realise is that your damage doesn't actually go up steadily like the plots suggest, and at the end of the red line (when you finish PD), your damage is higher than those to built Kraken first, but are still waiting to finish their IE.
Essentially with Kraken, what you are getting is a stronger 1-item spike, at the cost of being weaker from 3 items onwards. Personally I don't considered that worthwile, and winrate statistics does seem to generally agree, with IE having 2.05% higher winrate than Kraken when built first. Although a slight exaggeration with IE being 300g more expensive, I personally don't think this 300g difference can possibly account for the relatively large WR differential.
Winrate statistic of Kraken vs IE 1st, Emerald+ elo solo queue, last 7 days, sample size 257,226
That should be all for today! If there is something I did not cover, do feel free to ask (I may or may not have any knowledge about them, but in the latter case it can fuel a great discussion)! And if you think something is not quite right, please do point it out.

2024.05.22 11:59 Lurkin17 Maybe the glaring class imbalance this season will finally bring about some real balance changes?

Pit Leaderboard via Maxroll with Video Uploads (No Holybolt Elixir) https://maxroll.gg/d4/events/s4-pit-ladder Barb at 117 (bash lol) Druid 113 (windshear poison dot) Necro 116 (shadow golem & golem sacrifice) Rogue 124 (heartseeker with double dip victimize) Sorc 112 (permanent flame shield cheese)
These may not seem like that wild of differences, but these tiers scale extremely hard, 3 tiers can be an entirely different ballpark once your up here in terms of mob HP. It's pretty exponential.
Highest Sorc has seen without the flame shield cheese is 105 with Blizzard, and I've cleared a 104 with Frozen Orb, It's a real slog with a terrible boss damage class. both of us without Holy Bolts. Not sure if there are others who have made it this high, theres a few pushing around 100 right now without using the cheese build. Really hoping for some stuff in the midseason patch, not even nerfs, just buffs and bug fixes.
We have been doing a bunch of damage testing for sorc and basically all of our vulnerable aspects and legendary nodes aren't working properly. On the training dummy they basically aren't working at all, storm swell, icy touch, frigid fate, shredding blades, and icefall. When we test on lillith or in the field we get about half the value we are expecting to see. Insult to injury, given for whatever reason all our good stuff is tied to crowd control. Then we add in content that have bosses with 10 Billion HP and an escalating stagger resist mechanic.
Since people don't understand, lets do a comparison here. Barb bash hitting for 200 million+ total damage per hit with a basic https://youtu.be/KztkngRqKak?si=EVfnCCEAbur_us9I&t=621 in a T117. Look how long it takes him to kill it hitting for hundreds of millions per basic OVER THE COURSE of an 8 minute fight. That is 8 minutes of smashing basics for 200 million over and over.
Sorcerer.... https://youtu.be/BV_kpQi6Mfc?si=8iJX8uMtewqNRAeY&t=644 Ticking for 600,000 on frozen orb for a decent amount of ticks in a T81, taking a bit. I have a shako and a 2GA starless and 4 ranks on gloves, no conditionals in my paragon, none on my gear. Are we aware yet? I would need to attack for like 10 seconds to get a single basic from a barb. This is how bad sorc is. literally 10-20x behind on boss damage of the other classes. just because we do NM dungeons and helltiides reeelll good doesn't mean the class is balanced. it's the single worst damage class in the game by multiple factors. im talking 10 times as bad as the best rogue or necro build in endgame content.
edit: most sorcs are currently speed farming T60-T75 to farm mats. Thats our farm range. Rogues are able to farm T90-100, sanctum farms T100s. 70 vs 100 is 30 neathiron vs 60. people Stop getting hung up on the small sample size. I literally work with one of the highest pushing necros ruse, highest pushing rogue sanctum, and highest pushing Druid AceOrSpades. I’m extremely in tune with the top metas and capabilities of the class because I have direct communication with some of the actual top players of each. The damage gap is just incredibly large and sorc is only getting by because of permanent flame shield.

2024.05.22 05:24 i_be_eatin_milk Why don't other species compete with humans in technological development? -My Dad

Hi DebateEvolution,
I come to you in a time of need. I was discussing evolution with my father, and he asked a question that's stumped me:
"Why is it that there are no other living creatures that compete with humans on an intelligence level? Why are there no other animals building advanced machinery and such?"
Basically, why do we seem to have a leg up on everything else with no competition in technological development?
He seems to think that a society of dogs, given enough brain power, would eventually produce a thermonuclear warhead without physical adaptations and that something like this should have happened throughout history.
I was trying to explain to him that several compounding factors led to where we are today. For example, the evolution of opposable thumbs and intelligence together allowed us to grasp objects and use them as tools. This led to iterating on tools, going from using a rock to sharpening the rock ourselves. Our use of tools led us to evolve an upright posture, which allowed us to better utilize the tools we had made. This series of steps started our exponential curve of increasing technology. I also explained how we developed language to communicate ideas and later wrote that language down to preserve ideas and help future generations iterate on them.
He just doesn't seem to think that a unique set of circumstances coincidentally gave us an advantage that turned into the disparity in intelligence and technology we have today. I don't know how to communicate this to him. Furthermore, he doesn't see this question as basically asking "what if things were different," and I don't know how to explain that I can't answer that in the same way that I can't explain why the force of gravity isn't 9.3 m/s² instead of 9.81.
Any advice or insights on how to approach this conversation would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, my dad is not a complete dummy. He is a mechanical engineer.
