Boomer Cant Accept We Dont Shout and Scream when we Dont Get our Way

2024.05.19 11:45 Meeples17 Boomer Cant Accept We Dont Shout and Scream when we Dont Get our Way

I come from a generally abusive upbringing and I just went No Contact with my Family.
I put TLDR at the end. It is alot.
I think Narcicism is part of their entire generational culture after the break with all my Family Elders.
I moved away from home and in with a kind fun loving man. I became stable! I got an amazing job. Best of my career.
My Family couldnt stand it, I wasnt desperate or needy and available for their game playing.
My Dad got angrier and angrier on every phone call. Shouting abuse at me about decision. I should not ever order takeout! I havent got a sizable retirement plan. Dont take a loan on a decent car. You dont have a house. Its a waste. He owns million in real estate and never runs AC in his own house. If he does it for a guest hell tell them how its a big deal. He believes in saving…
The derision continued until I confronted him about hus behaviour. It was a careful well thought out conversation. Complaints are unwelcome in my Family. I told my Dad directly. You are losing your temper everytime were on the phone and Im worried about you. This could be early stage dementia. Will you please see a Doctor?
When I was on disability he loved playing kind supportive Dad. Now Im flying on my own and he is losing his mind.
My criticism led to a years worth of drama. It was a slow creep. He would ask me about work. I thought we were being civil. And then I started getting emails from his Sister. Shes worried about me. His Brother makes a trip to Montreal and he says three different reasons why hes here. I feel checked up on. My Sister calls and reminds me gently. Be careful ya know youre “Special”.
Im legit making 87k a year in a Unicorn Startup. Its amazing.
I lose my job during a round of layoffs. Budget cuts. Didnt make sales targets. Im low hanging fruit. Im going to collect max EI. The company is generous and gives me a months notice so I can jobhunt.
This is my Dads big moment. Hes on the phone checking in and he moves to destroy me. Oh honey! You dont have to lie. You got FIRED! That happens sometimes. Listen. Why dont you move back? Plenty of part time jobs here. Less stress. This always happens to you… (It does not)
I get off the phone shaking. Wtf is this trash. I have two letters of recommendation and lifelong contacts and the launch of a career.
To cut to the chase. He had gone behind my back and started rumours Im doing drugs and lying to the Family constantly. He said my new bf is a drug dealer. He cant understand why I left my Husband (actual drug addict)
Total assault on my character and ran me right out of the Family. Im honestly glad to never talk to any of my 18 Cousins 8 Aunts and Uncles or 6 Sisters and Brothers ever again. None of them believe a word I say anymore. They want that Old Family Money.
Im officially unsafe. And its shocking but. Get wreckt. My Dad thinks hes the King and I MUST worship and faun over him. Puke. I have an opinion.
TLDR. I offended my Father when I called him on his bad behaviour for the first time. So he convinced my entire Family Im in a DV situation and using hard drugs. Noone cares what I say because he pays a lot of their bills… and takes them on vacation around the world.
For Reference see. Crabs in a Bucket. Or. George Carlin. There might be something wrong with you. You might be surrounded by ash holes.

2024.05.19 11:18 harleystcool Anyone have experienced buying a car privately in Ontario?

I wanted to see the car this long weekend (In Ottawa) Service Nb is closed until Tuesday and I phoned yesterday but the operator said I had to check with service Ontario because its their jurisdiction. Usually Id just walk in a SNB and ask a clerk in person.
From what I gather, I just get the seller to do it just like Ontario, the registration with the back filled out to me as a bill of sale, a 2nd bill of sale just in case (printed off the snb site). I drive the car back to NB and I register it with Service NB, pay taxes ect? I dont have to register the car (change ownership) in a service Ontario office? If I do, Im unsure if theyll even have me in there system since I dont live there. Although Im paranoid I travel 1000kms with the car and the Service NB clerk to tell me I did something wrong.

2024.05.19 10:45 RetroGun Started a case to talk about all the bugs I have encountered... got multiple more while talking to them!

This is outrageous, I have encountered almost a dozen seperate little bugs while setting up ads, some causing me to completely restart some ads. These are just some of them:
While I was talking to the agent and creating an ad:
My issue is - what the fuck is happening in the background if this is happening in front of us?

2024.05.19 09:37 PlatinumHaZe How do I get RV Interiors on a brand new rent-a-server

I have been trying to get this mod to work for the past 6 hours. Ive read every guide I could find and Ive attempted SFTP (although there isn’t exactly a specific SFTP guide for RV Interiors). Ive created a spawn location, added the mod ID, etc. literally tried it all. I rent a Bisect server for PZ and no matter what it doesn’t seem to work. When I go in game I open my trailer and I get the generic “Map isn’t loaded” text that forces me back to the vehicle. The surrounding area is black when I am sent there and receive that. I haven’t explored any of the map other than where Ive spawned. Please if you know how to add this mod to a rent-a-server let me know how I can make this mod work.
TLDR: Cant get RV Interiors to work on a rent-a-server owned by Bisect. Please help.

2024.05.19 09:32 JavvieSmalls We need to sell

Morning. Just an opinion, obviously, and might be an obvious one to some, but not all, and the tl;dr: We need to sell before we buy new players.
Outside of DM, I personally think we need to get rid before we buy, in other positions. We have a lot of players on the books. Look at Man City's current squad, they actually don't have a huge squad, and use some youth like Lewis and Bobb, and they compete on 4 fronts every season, yes it is a good expensive squad, but not huge. With the loan players returning, we most definitely need to sell before buying any other players. And that's not factoring in FFP.
I know people are dreaming about new signings, and some think we NEED and HAVE to strengthen with the Champions League, but I don't think it is particularly realistic unless we have buyers for the deadwood and buyers for the non key players, and maybe even a buyer for a star like Luiz or Ramsey if we got a good fee, if we were to do a bigger rebuild or spend big.
Factoring in FFP, it sounds like we are actually ok with FFP this year? I.e. no potential points deductions for us... But we have little wiggle room for any new signings. Champs League bumps in current players pay has no doubt had an effect too on budgets - I think CL money received will factor into next years ffp cycle? Might be wrong!
So who we sell will determine who/how many players we sign. And selling players is tough, as we full well know! Sadly it isn't like Fifa!:
ST: Watkins, Duran, Archer°
SS: McGinn, Buendia, Coutinho°, Kellyman
LW: Ramsey?, Rogers
RW: Bailey, Diaby
CM: Luiz?, Tielemans
DM: Kamara, Iroegbunham, Dendoncker°
LB: Moreno, Digne•, Sousa
LCB: Torres, Mings, Hause°
RCB: Konsa, Carlos•, Chambers°
RB: Cash•, Kosta, Kesler
GK: Martinez, Gauci, Olsen°, Sinisalo/Marschall
Btw, this is just for visual purposes, please don't be angry if Mings or Digne etc isn't the 1st choice in it. Pick whoever you want👍
° i expect will be sold and would sell. And we still have a big squad when moving these on.
• i would sell for a reasonable fee, if we got one, to sign better &/or reduce wage bill
? Potential sale for big fee (I don't want to happen)
The obvious position that is weakest is DM, given Unai clearly does not trust Tim and we want to sell Donk. With Kamara injured till October, we simply need a DM in.
But other than that, depth is actually there, and quality is not bad . Quite unprecedented the amount of injuries we have had to key players this season. And when one comes back, another seemed to be out. Don't think I can recall so many injuries throughout the season as a whole, not since Houllier's season, and it is worse than then as well. We have only had 11/12 senior players for last few games too. If we have better luck with injuries, top 4 probably would have been secured long ago, and we may have got to the final of the UECL too. We started last season without Buendia, Mings*, Ramsey, Moreno - 4 key squad players, we should have them this time. Ramsey and Moreno haven't had a Pre season with Emery yet, nor has Rogers, Sousa, Kosta, and Gauci. Duran should improve. Diaby has had a year to settle and still put up decent 1st season numbers. Torres too. Tielemans has been brilliant after a slow start. Kamara will be back in autumn.
There is real reasons to still be hopeful for the new season if we are hamstrung by a bloated squad and/or FFP if you are one of those where it is transfers and transfers only which is what get you excited about a season. Feel like this paragraph needs to be stated, the way I see some act in transfer season 🤗 UTV

2024.05.19 09:31 Less_Advertising_487 Payment demands from a freelance worker who has left to go to work elsewhere

Hey all so a situation has arisen with a former work colleague that I'm unsure how to handle from this point.
I'm in the motor trade and source vehicles and have trade accounts for parts and such things and have done for many many years, at the time we worked in a workshop employed for a company in England for years and i still did freelance stuff aside from my main job.
The company rented a work bay to a previous employee to do work in and that was separate from work as for years he'd previously worked for the company. He approached me asking me to source bid and collect 2 vehicles for him which I did do as I have trade accounts with auction houses and not the company, once back at the workshop he then wanted a list of parts ordering as he has no contacts or trade accounts anywhere so I wrote a list of parts he wanted worked out some pricing and told him the figures which he was fine with and he bank transfered me the money and I then ordered the parts.
After a weekend I came into the workshop about a month ago and found that over the weekend he'd emptied his bay and took his vehicles and basically left to go elsewhere, fair enough his decision. I get a message a few days ago from him demanding almost a full refund of monies as he hadn't had all of his parts (which turned up a day or so after he left). He's told me what he 'wants' in return as he's worked out I put a markup on the parts I got for him which I'm entitled to do so which I've told him they were my accounts and my time etc.
Where do I stand from here? I've also yet to bill him for the vehicles I sourced and collected but I can see that's a road to a dead end but. I charged him for parts he doesn't like the fact I've made some money off him which was still cheaper than retail as he's a profiteering business at the end of the day. He's got the rest of the parts from elsewhere so he wants a refund for what he hasn't had from me even though the parts are here, so basically where do I stand as this guy is being flat out unreasonable and insinuating threats torwards me now - other than money being sent to my account there's no paperchain of any sort I've done what hes asked so i don't feel he has any grounds for anything especially as a lot of this was done as a favour to him and knows that. I'm not that way inclined but I feel I'm within my right to tell him to jog on and leave me alone as clearly he's in over his head or short of cash which isn't my problem.

2024.05.19 09:11 sad-possum_time AITAH for wanting my boyfriend to pick me up from work?

I’m going to keep names and ages out of this for privacy reasons, but I recently moved out to a very small town to live with my boyfriend, who moved here a year ago out of the blue for a job he hated and has since quit. Originally, I was saving to buy a car but due to the financial situation where I was living and me being out sick with Covid and missing a week and a half of pay, I had to spend it to keep up with bills. I’ve only had my license for like 6 months, I got it super late compared to most people. I’m a relatively good driver but I definitely am a safe one. I moved here knowing I didn’t have a vehicle, but under the impression he would still help me get around as much as he could. I also got fired in February for being out with Covid in December (managers refused to approve the time I wasn’t there and said it counted as too many occurrences) and am just returning to the work force. My job is a mile and a half from our house. He is usually at work when I leave so I bike there. I end up having to walk part of the way because some of the inclines are too steep for my bike to go up without extreme effort and at that point I might as well just walk right? I’ll be the first to admit I’m a little overweight. That being said, even when I was super skinny in the past, walking relatively far distances was difficult, and standing for long periods of time makes my feet and back hurt so badly that sometimes I think I’m going to throw up from the pain. He works doing physical labor outside. I understand this can be quite taxing, and that sometimes he may want to rest. My problem lies in the fact that he makes it seem like on these occasions, it’s super difficult to just like. Come switch out the car with me on my lunch break?? (I know it’s his car but like, I would never make him walk home if the role was reversed) Or maybe go to sleep for a few hours and then come pick me up really quick. I work 3 minutes from the house by car, but at least a 45 minute walk. More than that, if it’s after work and I can barely move as it is. His argument is that sometimes he’ll just want to sleep and I’ll just be SOL. I think this is kind of.. cruel honestly. I’ve tried so hard to explain to him the amount of pain that I’m in after a shift, sometimes to the point where I have to sneak off to the bathroom just so that I can take the pressure off for a few seconds. Plus I’ve sprained both of my ankles several times and they are definitely not the best because of it. One of them I broke and it healed incorrectly so now it randomly gets super tight and painful. I feel like I’m kind of rambling but I guess I just feel like ultimately, it’s something that two loving partners would do if they cared about one another. I go out of my way to do things for him all the time, maybe not exactly that but, the role has never been reversed in that way. I swear I’m not trying to sound like a spoiled brat and if I didn’t hurt even a fraction of the way I do after work then it wouldn’t be an issue. But I do, and that definitely makes it wayyyyy more difficult to get myself home in the middle of the night safely. I guess I’m just looking for advice.

2024.05.19 08:53 Twotgobblin Help! Shady “IT” guy won’t give me the credentials to my Uniquiti networking hard/software.

My brothers and I run a couple of restaurants and we recently switched our point of sale system, in that transition we met a guy who sold us a bill of goods and has dropped the ball at every turn that wasn’t billing us. I’ve asked multiple times for the information and he will not give it.
I’m ready to just reset the dream machine pro, switch, and access points but don’t know much about Ubiquiti.
Can I just reset the router and register the device under a new Unifi UI account, to essentially kick the old guy out of the system for good?
I assume the switch is “dumb” after a reset too? I’m not even sure if it’s managed to begin with.
If I don’t want to change the guest WiFi and password, can I simply adopt the AP’s in their current configuration or should I reset those as well?
Really appreciate any feedback, I have a mild tech background but am a little out of my depth.

2024.05.19 08:49 NotJelloz Questions: How do I buy my first car?

Hi guys!
I am 19 years old and trying to buy my first car, hopefully an used one off fb marketplace. Here is what I read online what to do:
  1. Search for cars like toyotas and hondas that have clean titles and are fairly priced around 5-7k. Ask the seller if they have the title and if they are okay with getting the car inspected.
  2. Meet the driver at a public place and test the car. Main things to look out for are engine sounds, dents and scratches, and anything out of the ordinary. I will be going with my mom
  3. Inspect the car and review the title, making sure the name matches the person and the car's VIN number. Sign the title?
Here are my questions:
1) How does the sale get documented? Is it by the title or another form of documentation? Is there anything else I'm missing from the process I listed?
2) I am a resident of NY, meaning I have a NY license. However, if I buy the car from out of state since my mom works out of state, how does the registration process work for that? Do I register it in NY? Is there anything extra that I have to do to transfer the OOS car to be a NG car?
3) Am I allowed to drive the vehicle even though it is not yet registered under my name? (This is after I get it insured) This is important to me because if I need to register it in NY, I have to drive it back to NY.
Thank you so much for any help! Any advice will be well appreciated!

🔗SafeFit Safetemp Car Window Shades (2-Pack)

https://preview.redd.it/jzykicg4yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f2ae9f9205619cad854d8e9836f69c200e8f32b
I recently had the opportunity to use the SafeFit Safetemp Car Sun Shades, and I can confidently say that they've been a game-changer when it comes to driving with my little one. As a mom who's always on the go, I'm constantly looking for ways to keep my baby comfortable and protected in the car, and these sun shades do just that.
One of my favorite features is the easy one-push retract button. It allows me to quickly roll up the shades when we're not using them, which is perfect for those days when the sun decides to disappear mid-afternoon. Additionally, the patented White Hot system that turns white when it's too hot in the car is a brilliant safety feature that gives me peace of mind.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider. Some users mentioned that these sun shades are not 100% sun-blocking, and they don't fit full width of certain car windows. Nonetheless, I still find them to be a valuable addition to my car, especially when it's hot outside and I need to protect my baby's skin and eyes from the sun's harmful rays.
In conclusion, the SafeFit Safetemp Car Sun Shades are a must-have for any parent looking to keep their little one safe and comfortable while on the road. Despite a few minor cons, the overall experience with these sun shades has been positive, and I would highly recommend them to fellow parents.

🔗Fashionable Palm Tree Windshield Sun Shade for Cars, SUVs, and Trucks

The Auto Drive 2 Count Palm Tree Sunset Universal Twist Sun Shade has been a game-changer in keeping my cars cool and comfy, especially during the scorching summer months. As someone who loves the outdoors and spends a lot of time in the car, I can confidently say this product has made a world of difference.
The vibrant tropical print is not only visually appealing but also offers effective protection against UV rays, ensuring my car's interior stays damage-free. Another standout feature is the twist shape which allows for easy storage, fitting perfectly in the trunk or backseat.
However, there's one issue that I noticed with this product. It doesn't fit every car perfectly due to its universal size. While it works great for my SUV and other larger vehicles, it doesn't cover the entire windshield in smaller cars like the Ford Focus.
Despite this minor inconvenience, I would highly recommend the Auto Drive 2 Count Palm Tree Sunset Universal Twist Sun Shade to anyone looking to keep their vehicle cool and comfortable during the hot summer months.

🔗2019 Ford F-150 SuperCab Full Vehicle TechShade

I recently got the WeatherTech TechShade Full Vehicle Kit for my car, and I must say, it's truly a game-changer. Living in a hot climate, keeping my car cool has always been a challenge. But with these shades, it's become a lot easier.
Firstly, the shades are custom-fit, which means they perfectly match the dimensions of my vehicle's windows. This feature is particularly useful because it ensures that no sunlight can sneak in through any gaps.
The shades also stay snug in each window opening, which is a testament to their quality. And when I need to use the car, I can easily roll them up and store them using the convenient hook and loop strap.
Another aspect I appreciate is the foam core feature. It makes the shades easy to handle and gives them a sturdy fit. Plus, it prevents them from rattling when the car is in motion.
However, there is one drawback. The shades are quite bulky when rolled up, which can be an issue if you don't have much storage space. But overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. It's definitely worth the investment, especially if you live in a hot climate like me.

🔗Car Sunshade for Style and Protection

I recently got the Genuine Dickies Classic Accordion Universal Black Sport Sunshade, and I have to say it's been a game-changer for my vehicle. Not only does it protect my car interior from harmful UV rays, but it also helps keep my vehicle surface temperature 44’F/25’C cooler on those hot summer days.
One of the things that really stood out to me about this sunshade is its retro design. The black sun-deflecting background with black vegan leather accents and white stitching give it a classic, yet sporty look. It's definitely a step up from the flimsy sunshades I've used in the past.
The sunshade is made of high-quality materials and has a sturdy construction. It unfolds easily and secures in place by your windshield visors. What's really convenient is that it comes with its own closure strap, making storage a breeze.
However, it's worth noting that the sunshade may not fit perfectly in all types of vehicles. As mentioned in some reviews, it might be too large for some cars or SUVs. Therefore, it's crucial to measure your windshield before purchasing to ensure the best fit.
Overall, I'm highly impressed with the Genuine Dickies Classic Accordion Universal Black Sport Sunshade. It's well-constructed, looks great, and offers excellent protection against the sun's rays. While it may not be a perfect fit for every vehicle, it's definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a sunshade.

🔗Brica Stretch-to-Fit Sun Shade for Cars

https://preview.redd.it/4yovm0u5yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0252909048d5d9f96d50e20a0a113b60dc55bafa
Stay protected from glare with the Brica Stretch to Fit Sun Shade, a top-notch travel companion for your car. The Safe-View Mesh feature ensures that your view is unobstructed while keeping harmful UV-A and UV-B rays at bay. It's designed with new and improved suction cup attachments that provide a secure grip on any car window.
One feature that really wins me over is its ability to stretch up to nearly double the size, fitting perfectly on any side or rear car window. Plus, it comes with snaps along the perimeter that help in tailoring the shade to any window shape and size.
The material used in this sunshade is premium, keeping it durable and functional for long car rides, especially with little ones in tow. Its visual appeal complements the interiors of your vehicle while offering superior sun protection.
I would highly recommend this sunshade, especially for families with large windows in their cars such as SUVs, trucks, and minivans. It's great for those who want to keep the sun off while still maintaining a clear view from the car. However, do ensure to clean the window thoroughly before installation for maximum grip.
In my experience, one minor issue was the need to readjust the suction cups occasionally, but this was easily manageable. Overall, the Brica Stretch to Fit Sun Shade has been a reliable and efficient addition to my car, providing a comfortable ride for all my passengers.
Considering both pros and cons, this sunshade is definitely worth a try, especially if you prioritize safety and comfort on long car journeys.

🔗Durable Car Sunshade Umbrella for Protecting and Cooling

https://preview.redd.it/iceume86yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63c27bd12ddf80182ff2b665b96d496c9043b698
I recently purchased Jasvic's Car Windshield Sun Shade Umbrella to protect my car from the harsh summer heat. This umbrella-shaped sunshade folds up like an umbrella, making it incredibly convenient to store in my car. I was a bit hesitant about using this design initially, being more familiar with the traditional folding shades, but its compactness and ease of installation quickly won me over.
The sturdy high-hardness steel frame adds a strong sense of durability to the sunshade, providing protection against UV rays, heat, snow, and fog. This ensures that my car remains safe and undamaged throughout the changing seasons. I also appreciate how it creates a comfortable, cool driving environment while also shielding my car's electronics and seats from sun damage.
Unfolding the sunshade and fitting it into the windshield is a breeze. However, I did learn the hard way that proper maneuvering is necessary to prevent scratches on my car's dashboard. Overall, this product stands out for its durability, versatility, and convenience, making it a must-have for anyone looking to protect their car and enhance their driving experience.

🔗WeatherTech TechShade Full Vehicle Kit for 2019 Ford F-150 SuperCab (Silver & Black)

https://preview.redd.it/kjvx4fn6yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d04fceee8b442ca14293b841acd17aff6d189671
I recently got my hands on the WeatherTech TechShade Full Vehicle Kit, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my sun protection needs. The highlight of this product is its ability to keep the entire vehicle cooler by blocking out the sun's rays.
Before I installed these, I used to dread getting into my car on a hot day. The interior would be sweltering, and it took ages for the air conditioning to cool everything down. But with the TechShade Full Vehicle Kit, my car stays significantly cooler. In fact, it feels much more bearable to get in and out of my vehicle now.
Another feature that I absolutely love about this product is how custom-fit it is. When properly installed, each piece fits snugly in the window openings of my vehicle. This ensures that no light or heat is seeping in from the sides, which is exactly what I wanted.
However, there is one part of the installation process that could use some improvement. The front windshield piece tends to sag a little, especially if you have a tinted windshield. Thankfully, this isn't a deal-breaker for me, but it would be nice to see this aspect of the design refined in future models.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the WeatherTech TechShade Full Vehicle Kit. It's definitely worth the investment if you want to keep your vehicle cool and protected from the harmful effects of the sun.

The TechShade Full Vehicle Kit has been a game-changer for me during those sweltering summer days and chilly winters. I love how this custom-fit sunshade can be easily installed on my windshield and windows, keeping my car's interior cool and protected from the harsh sun. The dual-purpose design of the TechShade really stands out - it absorbs heat in the winter to help keep my car warm and defrost the windshield, while also reflecting sunlight in the summer to prevent my steering wheel and dashboard from getting scalding hot.
One particular highlight of this product is its effortless storage. When it's not in use, I can simply roll up the shades and secure them with a strap. The only downside I've encountered is that the full vehicle kit is limited to select vehicles, which might be disappointing for some users.
Overall, I have had a great experience with the WeatherTech TechShade Full Vehicle Kit. It's a little pricey, but it's definitely worth the investment for the quality, convenience, and protection it provides for my vehicle.

As an avid car user, I've always struggled with the harsh midday sun blaring into my car's windows, making it unbearable to drive. That was until I discovered the TFY Car Window Sun Shade Protector Shine Blocker. This little gadget is a game-changer, as it effortlessly blocks glare, heat, and damaging sunlight from infiltrating my car doors' side windows. The best part? It's as easy as twirling to fold or unfold it when needed!
The lightweight design is perfect for use on both front and rear door windows, without compromising visibility. I never imagined that a mesh fabric can do such wonders for allowing a clear view of the outside world while keeping the sun's harmful rays away.
However, the size of these sunshades can be inconsistent, as some might find them too small, especially for larger vehicles. Another minor issue is that the silicone surface cups can occasionally lose their grip, particularly during humid days.
All in all, the TFY Car Window Sun Shade Protector Shine Blocker is a must-have for anyone experiencing the same sun-related issues as I did. Its unique features and relatively affordable price make it an attractive choice for car owners seeking a convenient solution to combat the sun's unwelcome intrusion.

🔗Sock-Style Car Window Shade for Sun Protection and Privacy

As a busy mom, I've always been in search of products that could keep my babies comfortably in the car while driving during the hot summer days. When I came across Magnelex Sock-Style Car Window Shades, I was excited to try it out.
This product is incredibly easy to use. The elasticized band stretches to fit over your car door, which completely blocks UV rays from entering the car, ensuring my little ones stay cool and comfortable. The mesh is so fine, I can still enjoy fresh air and a view of the outside without worrying about the sun burning my baby's sensitive skin.
However, one thing that could have been better is the size. It's always a guessing game when shopping online, and though I measured my car door accurately, there's still a tiny bit of it left out. But, given that it's designed universally to fit most passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs, it's a small inconvenience for the otherwise excellent sun protection it provides.
In terms of installation, I love how there are no adhesives or suction cups involved. The shades just slip over the car doors, and all it takes is a simple pull to remove them. So, while changing cars or wanting to let the sun in, it's really hassle-free.
Overall, the Magnelex Sock-Style Car Window Shades have made my car rides much safer and more comfortable for my babies. It's a must-have product for families with infants or pets!

As a parent, I understand the importance of a comfortable car ride, especially with young, sensitive eyes. That's why I decided to give the Ovege Car Window Shade a try. It promised to protect my baby's eyes from the harsh sun rays and give us much-needed privacy while we're on the road.
I was truly impressed by how easy it was to install these shades using the suction magnets provided. However, I did notice they didn't fit perfectly on our car doors, leaving a few gaps. But overall, the shades provided great UV protection and helped maintain a cooler temperature in the car on hot days.
A pleasant surprise was the "limo effect" these shades created when we rolled down the windows. Air could still flow freely without exposing us to the sun, making the ride more enjoyable.
I must admit, I didn't need to worry about the fit every time I removed and reattached the shades. The strong suction magnets held them in place, and my windows were left unscratched.
The one downside I experienced was that the shades didn't cover all the areas of our car windows. This left us with a few spots that let in sunlight. Nevertheless, we found a workaround by adjusting the placement of the shades.
In conclusion, the Ovege Car Window Shade has made a significant difference in our car rides, providing us with privacy, UV protection, and a more comfortable driving experience. The pros of this product definitely outweigh the cons, making it a worthwhile addition for any car owner.

What are the benefits of using car window shades?

Car window shades offer several benefits, including reducing glare and heat inside the vehicle, protecting passengers from harmful UV rays, enhancing privacy, and adding a decorative touch to your car's interior.

What types of car window shades are available?

https://preview.redd.it/fbdo3yj9yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=991f87cd8087c15493b6d9b5389fc619806cafd4
There are various types of car window shades, such as suction cup shades, adhesive-based shades, roller shades, and pop-up shades. Suction cup shades attach directly to the car window, while adhesive-based shades attach with adhesive. Roller shades and pop-up shades are mounted on a rod or wire, allowing them to be pulled up and down manually.

How do I choose the right car window shade for my vehicle?

When selecting a car window shade, consider factors such as the size of your car windows, the type of shade that fits your vehicle's design, and the amount of sun protection you require. Additionally, think about whether you prefer a shade that can be easily removed or one that stays in place more permanently.

https://preview.redd.it/8319n0w9yb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2df36296204f10427eb1ea7d395a4670e3dda56

How do I install car window shades?

Installation methods vary depending on the type of shade you choose. Suction cup shades typically attach directly to the car window, while adhesive-based shades use an adhesive strip to adhere to the window. Roller and pop-up shades come with a mounting kit that allows you to attach the shade to the window using screws or clips.

Are there car window shades suitable for rear-facing car seats?

Yes, some car window shades are specifically designed to accommodate rear-facing car seats. These shades typically have adjustable mounts, allowing you to position the shade securely above the car seat without obstructing the driver's view.

How do I clean and maintain my car window shades?

Cleaning and maintaining your car window shades is essential to ensuring they last long and continue to protect your vehicle. To clean, simply use a damp cloth or mild soap to wipe down the shade. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that may damage the shade. For maintenance, periodically inspect the shade for signs of wear or damage, and replace it if necessary.

Can I install car window shades on all car windows?

While car window shades can be installed on most car windows, there are some limitations to consider. Some states have laws that require at least one side window to remain unobstructed, so you may need to leave one window without a shade. Additionally, some window shades may not fit properly on certain car models, so be sure to verify compatibility before making a purchase.

How much do car window shades typically cost?

The cost of car window shades can vary depending on factors such as the type of shade, the brand, and the size. Generally, suction cup shades and adhesive-based shades tend to be more affordable, while roller and pop-up shades may be priced higher. Prices can range from around $10 to $50 or more, depending on the features and quality of the shade.

2024.05.19 08:23 cootiequeen69 Would you downgrade your home to eliminate your mortgage?

DISCLAIMER: I am a homeowner and consider myself a very capable person, but I am no financial master who understands all the ins and outs of how equity, and selling homes, and profit, and closing costs, etc etc, so if I miscalculate something in my very rough numbers below, feel free to let me know, but be cool.
I (28) own a house independently of my girlfriend (25). We’re DINKs (double income, no kids) with two 2 dogs and two cats. We will not be having children. I purchased my home for $206,500 and currently have around $170,000 left on my mortgage. My home is valued between $280-300k, so I currently have between $110-130k in equity. My mortgage (with insurance and taxes included) is $1250 a month.
A little about me, my number one goal in life is to retire as soon as possible, and live a moderate, comfortable life. I don’t enjoy my job and only do it because they pay me better than anyone else would and it pays my bills. I’d also be happy to live right where I am, in this home I bought for $200k, for the rest of my life, and don’t feel the urge to upgrade my living situation in many ways.
Long story short, I’m toying with the idea of selling my house, and downgrading to a home in the $100-150k range to either completely eliminate my mortgage, or reduce it greatly to only a few hundred dollars. For the sake of this hypothetical, I’m going to be assuming that I will have no mortgage after this move, but also did not profit on the sale. An even swap from my current house to the downgrade house. Now I have an additional $1250 in disposable income per month. Realistically I would funnel that money into any debts I currently have (mostly renovations to the home I would have just sold to purchase this one). So theoretically, in under a year, I’d be pocketing that extra $1250 a month.
So question 1: would you downgrade your home to eliminate your mortgage?
See below for question 2, or feel free to just answer question 1!
Say, after a year of using the extra $1250 per month to pay down bills and rebuild our emergency fund, we start funneling that money directly into a savings we intend to use to purchase additional properties. My girlfriend and I have always considered the idea of purchasing rental properties to create some passive income, with the hopes that we could eventually replace our salaries with the money we’re brining in from the rentals every month. This would allow us to retire (hopefully significantly) early.
Within 15 months of beginning to save, we theoretically would have nearly $20,000 saved up for the down payment on a new $100k house in the area. In my area, the mortgage would be approximately $650 per month. Say we rent it for $1000 per month, for a profit $450 per month. Now we’re up to $1,700 a month in profit ($1250 disposable income from having no mortgage, and the $450 in rent we’re collecting) from selling my original home. Now if I funnel all of that money into the savings, it’s only going to take 12 months to save up enough for another down payment on a $100,000 house. Rinse and repeat until we’re profiting enough to retire in x amount of years.
So question 2: if you WOULD downgrade your home to eliminate your mortgage, would you consider investing in real estate like I described above to work towards an early retirement?

As a Springfield Hellcat owner, I've been searching for the perfect IWB holster that can provide comfort and convenience while carrying my beloved firearm. When I stumbled upon the We The People Springfield Hellcat IWB Holster, it seemed to be the perfect solution to my problem.
The first thing I noticed about this holster is its durable construction. Made from Kydex, it feels sturdy and well-built, ensuring that my firearm is securely held in place. The flexibility of the material is also a plus, as it allows for a comfortable and secure fit.
One of the most impressive features of this holster is the adjustable retention. This feature allows me to set the tension to my personal comfort, providing an additional level of customization to my carry experience. The holster's adjustable ride and cant also offer maximum flexibility in terms of carry options, ensuring that I can find the perfect position for my gun.
Despite its many pros, the holster does have a few cons that are worth mentioning. The adjustable clip, while convenient, can be a bit challenging to maneuver at times, especially when trying to change positions on the go. Additionally, the protective sweat guard has a tendency to catch on my clothing, which can be a minor annoyance.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the We The People Springfield Hellcat IWB Holster. What surprised me the most was that this mount doubled as a travel stand, making it a perfect addition to my laptop bag for airport layovers or when working from a hotel room.
However, there were a couple of minor cons during my experience. The mount has a universal fit, but I found that it was slightly tricky to get it to stay secure in my air vent. Also, the adjustable jaws were not as snug as I would have liked, causing my phone to jiggle a bit more than I preferred. Overall, I believe the Kenu Airframe+ Car Mount is a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a versatile and functional car phone mount.

The Safariland SL 7360RDS holster has been an essential part of my daily carry routine for quite some time now. I've tried several holsters in the past, but none have come close to matching the quality and performance of this one.
One of the key features that stood out to me is the ALS (Automatic Locking System) retention system. It's an intuitive and easy-to-use system that provides quick and secure access to my firearm. The holster's design perfectly complements my use of red-dot optics on my firearm, and I appreciate how it specifically accommodates my choice of optics. It fits my rig perfectly, and I can easily draw my pistol without any issues.
Another significant advantage of the Safariland SL 7360RDS holster is its construction. The SafariSeven material is incredibly durable and lightweight, making it a perfect choice for rugged use. It's a testament to the holster's engineering and manufacturing.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. The first is that the release button on the inside of the holster doesn't have any texture, which can make it tricky to press at times. The other issue is that the holster comes with a mid-ride belt loop, which sometimes puts it away from my body.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Safariland SL 7360RDS holster is a top-tier product that any shooter looking for quality and performance should consider. Its superior construction, durability, and ease of use set it apart from the competition. It's perfect for personal defense, law enforcement, and military applications.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance of your car holster is essential to ensure its longevity and effectiveness. 🔗Dorman Emergency Door Unlock Tool with Vinyl Grip

https://preview.redd.it/ssvyme07ob1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99f8476a67c556974c558632ea0d2efc7a69de0a
Well, my experience with this Dorman Emergency Door Unlock Tool has been quite an adventure, let me tell you. I mean, I've always been a bit of a worrier, especially when it comes to my car door. I've had my fair share of lockouts, and it's never a good time. But this little tool, it's changed everything!
First off, I love how versatile it is. I can reshape it to fit the thickness of my door and the location of the lock. It's like it's tailor-made just for me, and my car! Plus, it comes with a nice vinyl hand grip. It makes it so much easier to use. It's like holding onto a friendly, familiar face in a moment of pure panic.
Another great thing about this tool is that it's portable. It folds up so neatly, like a little origami masterpiece. It fits perfectly in my pocket, purse, or any other compartment I can find. It's like having a magic trick up my sleeve, always ready to save the day.
But, let's be real, no product is perfect. I have to admit, this tool can sometimes be a bit of a troublemaker. It's not always as smooth as I'd like it to be. There have been a few times when it's stuck in the narrow space between the door and the weather stripping. It's kind of like trying to force a square peg into a round hole, you know? It can be a bit frustrating.
However, on the bright side, I've found that by taking a little extra time and being patient, I can usually get it to work. And when it does, it's such a relief! It's like a personal victory, and it makes me feel so smart and resourceful.
So, would I recommend this product? Absolutely! It's not perfect, but it's worked wonders for me. It's like having a little insurance policy tucked away in my pocket, always there to help me out when I need it most. I'm just glad I stumbled upon it.

I recently discovered the Lock Technology 145 Easy Access Folding Door Opening Kit, and it has become an indispensable tool for unlocking my car doors. This compact device is a true lifesaver when I've locked my keys inside or when I need to access the trunk in a hurry.
The highlights that caught my attention are the screws that don't require a coupler, which have made it incredibly easy to use. Plus, the collapsible design allows for easy storage in my glove compartment. Another great feature is the presence of a middle extension piece that covers the entire car and can be used for long reach applications. The shorter tip is perfect for accessing lock buttons, while the glowing tips on models 135-2B and 135-2C are an excellent innovation for nighttime use.
One downside I experienced was the need for more precise angle adjustments when trying to unlock my car doors. While the rigid design facilitated easier access through the window, it could be trickier for those with less experience or unsteady hands. Other than that minor inconvenience, this door opening kit has been a game changer for me.
So, if you're someone who often finds themselves in need of a last-minute or after-hours unlock solution, I highly recommend giving the Lock Technology 145 Easy Access Folding Door Opening Kit a try. You won't be disappointed!

Imagine locking your keys in your car. It's a frustrating and stressful situation, but with the Universal Lockout Tool, you can save yourself some time and money. This ingenious tool works with most American cars, as well as some international brands such as Audi, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
The best part? It's made of sturdy metal, giving you the confidence to use it without worrying about damaging your vehicle. It measures about 5/8" x 22", making it compact enough to carry around in your glove compartment or tool kit.
While some users have had issues with its thinness and flexibility, many professionals find it a decent entry-level tool for those occasional lockouts. Plus, at its affordable price, it's definitely worth considering as an insurance policy against those unexpected key-locking mishaps.
But remember, practice makes perfect. Always read the directions included on the back of the package and familiarize yourself with the tool before attempting to use it on your car. With some patience and a bit of finesse, you'll be able to unlock your vehicle in no time!

As a car enthusiast, I was excited to try out the Geevorks 12V door lock actuator. This kit made upgrading my old manual door locks to automatic ones a breeze! The installation was relatively easy, and the product included everything from door lock actuators to remote controls. The remote controls allowed me to lock and unlock my car from a distance, giving me peace of mind when I step away from my vehicle.
One of the main highlights for me was the trunk release button, adding an extra layer of convenience when I need to access my trunk. Additionally, the door lock actuator can be used in remote control and alarm systems, making it a versatile product for various car security needs.
On the downside, the remote control distance could be improved. In some cases, I experienced a weaker signal which made locking or unlocking the car from a distance less reliable. Despite this minor inconvenience, overall, the Geevorks door lock actuator has made my driving experience more secure and convenient.

Dorman's Emergency Door Unlock Tool is a handy little gadget that can save your day if you accidentally lock your keys inside your car. Imagine the relief of unlocking your car door within seconds using the slim design of this tool, which can be easily folded to fit in your pocket, purse or other compartments. The vinyl hand grip makes it comfortable and easy to use even in tight spaces.
However, there are some downsides to consider. Some users found it difficult to get the tool past the window seal and mentioned it folds up easily during use. It may not work effectively for all types of car doors due to their varying thickness and lock locations.
Overall, this tool can be quite useful for those who occasionally find themselves locked out of their vehicle. But be aware that it might require some practice or patience to get it right depending on your particular car model. So, if you're looking for a quick solution to this common mishap, Dorman's Emergency Door Unlock Tool could be worth a shot.

I recently had an unfortunate experience where I locked myself out of my car. Panicking, I remembered the Universal 10-Piece Vehicle Unlock Tool Kit I'd heard about. Its assorted tools and convenient pouch seemed perfect for this situation. Upon pulling it out of the bag, I was immediately disappointed by the poor instructions. The metal tools felt flimsier than anticipated, bending on the first attempt. However, the variety of tools allowed me to eventually unlock my car door, although not without a fight. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, but it did save me from an expensive professional service.
The tool kit is compact and easy to carry, making it a handy emergency tool for drivers. The metal tools are versatile, catering to different vehicle models. The convenient pouch is spacious enough to hold all the tools. However, the build quality of the tools is disappointing, as they seem to bend easily under pressure. Overall, it's a useful tool kit for occasional use, but don't expect it to last a lifetime.

🔗Unlock Your Car Door with Ease: LTI135 2-Piece Easy Access ToolKit

I recently used the Lock Technology Easy Access Door Unlocking Tool Kit 135 in a tricky situation where I locked myself out of my car. To my relief, this 2-piece tool easily collapsed for convenient storage and extended to reach the car's windows. The whale tail tip design worked like a charm on the lock surfaces, making it a breeze to unlock my car door. Plus, the included plastic slip jim and door wedges provided extra support.
However, despite the overall positive experience, I did face a minor issue with this kit. The lack of a highlight feature in the product description made it somewhat challenging to understand the exact specifications of each component. Additionally, the green color of the tool might not appeal to everyone's taste.
In conclusion, the Lock Technology Easy Access Door Unlocking Tool Kit 135 proved to be a reliable and effective solution for my car lockout predicament. Its collapsible design, whale tail tip, and additional accessories make it a worthwhile investment for those looking to keep a handy tool in their vehicle for emergencies.

As a reviewer who has experienced the joy of retrieving keys from locked cars, I can attest to the life-saving capabilities of the Steck Big Easy Glow with Wedge Lockout Tool Kit. This kit has everything you need to rescue someone from their own forgetfulness or mischief at any hour of the day or night. The glow-in-the-dark yellow hue is not only cool but also incredibly functional, allowing you to see the tool even through tinted windows.
One aspect that really stood out for me was the easy wedge feature. It offers controlled opening of the car door for insertion of the Big Easy Glo, making it incredibly easy to access the inside of the vehicle without causing any damage. Additionally, its non-marring wedge prevents scratches or damages to your car, ensuring your beloved vehicle stays pristine even after a minor lockout incident.
However, despite its many positives, there are a few cons worth noting. The included air wedge seems to be somewhat delicate and may not last as long as other parts of the kit. Also, while the kit is effective on 98% of all cars and trucks, there might be some models or makes that are not compatible with this tool.
In conclusion, if you're someone who often encounters people locked out of their cars, then the Steck Big Easy Glow with Wedge Lockout Tool Kit is definitely worth considering. It's easy to use, effective, and offers an array of useful features that cater to different types of car locks. While it may have some minor drawbacks, overall, it's a reliable tool that can save both time and money when used appropriately.

I have been using the Steck Lockout Tool Kit Big Easy for over a year now, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute game-changer. This tool has saved me countless times when I've locked my keys inside the car, much to the amusement of my friends.
One of the first things that stood out was the high visibility pink powder coating on its 55-inch long handle. In the middle of the night or during a snowstorm, finding this pink tool is a breeze compared to the black ones I used before. Plus, the improved non-marring wedge is now wider, longer, and smoother, making it even easier to use in various car models.
While the Big Easy is primarily designed for unlocking car doors, it also features a lock knob lifter, which comes in handy for cars with flat lock knobs at the top of the door. No more trying to improvise with a wire hanger or credit card - the Big Easy does it all.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. Some users might find the storage size of the tool inconvenient, and it would be great if the package included a pump-up air bag for extra versatility.
Overall, the Steck Lockout Tool Kit Big Easy has been a reliable and convenient addition to my toolbox. With its 55-inch long handle and high visibility pink coating, I can quickly and easily unlock any car door without causing damage. If you're someone who frequently misplaces their keys or finds themselves locked out of their vehicle, I highly recommend giving this tool a try.

I recently installed the Biltek Power Car Door Lock and Unlock Kit in my Chevy Colorado, and I must say, it has been a game-changer. Before, I had to manually lock and unlock each door, but now, everything is just a button press away. The package included everything I needed to get started, from the simple diagram to the main module and actuators. Plus, it's compatible with my alarm system, so I can control everything right from my alarm remote.
The standout feature for me is the keyless entry. It's so convenient to hop in the car and just unlock the doors with a push of a button. The only downside I noticed was that the installation process took some time and effort, but once it was done, everything worked seamlessly.
Overall, I highly recommend the Biltek Power Car Door Lock and Unlock Kit to anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle to a central locking system with keyless entry. It's easy to use, reliable, and a great investment for any car owner.

I recently upgraded my car with the Biltek CX-402 Universal Central Door Lock and Unlock Conversion Kit, and I must say it's made a world of difference in terms of convenience. The kit is easy to install, requiring no additional hardware and coming with a clear diagram that guides you through the process.
One of the standout features is its universal compatibility, fitting all known cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans. This has been particularly useful for me, as I often drive different vehicles. The Central locking system provides a state-of-the-art solution, converting manual door locks into a fully functional keyless entry system.
However, there's a downside to this product - the poor-quality wires. The wires were the only problem I encountered during installation, which was quite frustrating. Despite this, the Biltek CX-402 is an overall solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle's locking system.

I recently got my hands on this LTI LT-126 Easy Access Tool and boy, has it been a game-changer for me! After suffering countless failed attempts to unlock doors in tight spaces or with tricky locks, this little tool has made things so much easier. The whale tail tip design is pure genius, allowing it to grip the lock more securely and catch it without much effort. Plus, the fact that you can use it with or without the vinyl tips depending on your preference just adds to its versatility.
What I particularly appreciated was how the tool came packaged in a simple yet sturdy custom kraft cardboard box. Not only did it make the whole experience feel more special, but also added an environmental touch which is always a welcome sight.
However, one thing that could have been even better was if the tool had come with some detailed instructions on how best to handle it, especially for first-time users. Nonetheless, once you figure out the right technique, this LTI LT-126 Easy Access Door Tool truly lives up to its name!

As a frequent traveler, I've found the Grip 8pc Lockout Tool Kit to be an absolute lifesaver. Imagine being stuck outside your car on a sweltering day, with no spare key or anyone to help you out. That's where this tool kit comes in. It's got everything you need to unlock your car door in no time.
One of the standout features of this kit is the slim jim bars - they're so thin yet sturdy, you'll wonder how they're able to pry open even the toughest doors. The slim jim bars are backed up by other useful tools like the wire form S hook slide lock tool and the wonder tool. Together, they make sure you're never locked out for long.
On the flip side, I did find the metal parts to be slightly flimsier than I'd hoped. It's not a deal-breaker but it does make me wary of using this kit too frequently. However, for occasional usage or as a backup tool, the Grip 8pc Lockout Tool Kit definitely earns its keep.
In conclusion, this tool kit has proven to be an essential part of my travel gear. It's well-made, easy to use, and offers a range of tools for different types of car doors. 2024.05.19 07:24 PinballPounce A comprehensive guide to sound-deadening a 2018 Third Gen Mazda3 Hatchback

This will function as a one-stop guide to sound deaden the 3rd generation Mazda3. I believe it will be useful for any previous or next-gen Mazda3 owner, or anyone with a CX-30, as these platforms share many components.
Like others undertaking this project, I did a ton of research on sound deadening, the process, and the products first before jumping in. I would encourage anyone pursuing the same project to read through the links I’ve included in this write-up as they should give you all the information you need to sound-deaden your car in a comprehensive, easy manner, without having to do the weeks of research I had to do.
Pre-reading:
If you haven’t already, read through this thread for background as this is a solid, comprehensive write-up.
https://www.mazda3revolution.com/threads/sound-deadening-my-17-mazda-3-bn.242072/
Materials Needed:
1. Butyl-based mat to apply first as your base layer
I used 72 square feet to do the entire car, including hood, wheel wells, full interior, rear hatch area, and all doors. I did not do the headliner.
Total cost: $200 CAD
I used 1 box of 2mm (80 mil) Kilmat, and 1 box of 2.5mm Amazon branded butyl sheets. I found the Kilmat had better adhesion and was easier to cut and work with, because of the smaller sheet sizes, so I used this for tight spaces and the doors. The Amazon stuff was great to apply to large areas such as the floor of the vehicle, because I would just stick one entire sheet down and be done with it. It’s also slightly cheaper than the Kilmat.
Other brands: Silless, which manufactures the closed cell foam, also makes this stuff for a reasonable price.

2. Closed cell foam as the second layer
I used 100 square feet.
Total cost: $200
I did a LOT of research and shopping around to find the best balance between price, value, and performance of closed cell foam. I ultimately landed on using Siless Liner 157mil (4mm) closed cell foam which I found on Amazon. Noico is also another brand that makes this stuff for slightly more cost. These come in boxes of 51 square feet for about $100. I thus bought two boxes of the stuff. I did end up with leftover product, which I have saved as it can be used to stick on anything else that causes noise such as a furnace, washing machine, etc along with the leftover butyl mat.

3. Rubber-based floor underlay as the final layer
I used a 100 square foot roll of Technoflex Underlayment Acoustic Membrane, 2mm thickness.
Total cost: $85
Product link: https://www.rona.ca/en/product/technofloor-technoflex-underlayment-acoustic-membrane-thermal-insulation-4-ft-x-25-ft-x-008-in-100-sqft-rubber-material-black-m2000-100-73015020
Alternate link: https://technoflexintl.com/en/product/technofloor-acoutstic
Other products I considered, but chose against as the Technoflex is thicker
In Canada, you cannot find mass loaded vinyl. My goal was to find something relatively cheap and functional. I went to underlay because it’s sold in bulk and there are many products out there to compare effectiveness. Flooring underlay also has specific requirements in order to carry a particular sound deadening rating. It’s also rubber-based, like vinyl, so I figured I would just double up on layering as I had enough product to do so. I did end up doubling up the layering in most places and had leftover product.
Please note, this product is not adhesive. You lay it down like a blanket and you need to cut it to fit in tight spaces. Thus, I did not use it in vertical areas like the doors. I only used it on the floor and trunk of the vehicle. I am not technically inclined enough to adhere or screw it on the doors, but there are other people in the links on this thread who have done so, so depending on your skill level it is certainly possible.

All Tools Required
  1. Socket set with 10mm socket and a Phillips screwdriver. I purchased a full socket set because I did not have one and found one on sale.
  2. E-torx socket size 12 to remove the front seats. I just purchased a set of 8 for $20
  3. Trim removal tool and plastic clip replacements, approx. $20. Extremely useful!!
    • The metal trim removal tool is worth its weight in gold. Trust me, there are a LOT of plastic trim pieces to remove, and this tool makes them very easy to remove properly without breaking anything. All cars nowadays use plastic trim, so it’s a worthwhile purchase if you’re ever going to do work on any future car as well.
    • I purchased the set above because it came with a whole array of trim removal tools as well as a huge variety of replacement plastic trim pieces. I ended up using a couple pieces that broke when I did the doors. The kit has everything you may need for most vehicles, including our Mazdas.
  4. Rubber roller, $12. Useful for rolling down the butyl mat and closed cell foam.
  5. Do yourself a favor and get some gloves. I used my bare hands for about 50% of the time, and they were sore, and had little nicks and cuts all over them by the time I was done. Much easier with gloves.
Skill Level
I have a general interest in cars but the most technical work I’ve ever done are oil changes and tire swaps. This was the largest and most technical project I ever embarked on. I work an office job, so I don’t even work with my hands a lot. If I can do it, so can you (as long as you set aside the time and have the proper tools).

Results
I did not take before-after videos, as that has been captured by videos on Youtube as well as people who have measured the noise levels in the threads below. All I can tell you is that this does work. In my opinion, the project even for a newb like me is totally worth it. For less than $500, and a couple days of work, you can make your Mazda feel like an entirely different vehicle.

Now, sounds and vibrations are barely transmitted going over rough roads. The car feels so much more planted and stable when going over bumps. The audio system sounds better. The doors close with a rich-sounding ‘thunk’. By far the biggest improvement is getting a whole new level of isolation within the car, which makes long trips so much more tolerable and the daily commute so much more relaxing. I would 100% do this again.

The project
Okay, let’s get to the project itself! I’ve broken up each area of the car into separate sections. As the write-ups below are fairly comprehensive, there is no need for me to reinvent the wheel.

Doors
This link contains pictures and instructions, very clearly detailed, on how to do the doors. I did the rear doors first to get used to working with all the materials, then the trunk, then the interior of the car. I would suggest following these instructions.

Before taking apart your doors, also read through this thread as it contains some more details and information that you will find useful.
https://www.mazda3revolution.com/threads/sound-deadening.126105/?post_id=1624345&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#post-1624345
This thread is also good to read as it is very detailed. It is for the previous generation, but the door design has not changed that much compared to our generation.

Wheel arches
Use these links and instructions for the wheel arches
https://www.mazda3revolution.com/threads/sound-deadening.126105/page-2
As well as the Imgur gallery from the Doors section for some more pictures.

Trunk
This is the easiest part of the whole project. If you’ve read the threads above, you don’t need any help with this. I did not do the hatch door. I do not think that is worth it, because if your trunk area is well insulated and you have your rear seat up, there’s not a lot of noise that’s going to get through the hatch door.

Interior
This is the part of the project that I had to figure out on my own, so I want to give several tips that will make it easier if you’re doing this.

~1. Removing the interior carpet:~
First vacuum the carpet.
You don't need to remove the entire console to get access to the majority of the floor. To remove the interior carpet, first remove the rear seat, then the front seats, then the interior plastic trim, and finally there are some pieces of Styrofoam in the front wheel wells. You can pull up the carpet for the left side of the vehicle as you work on that side, then tack it all down, and repeat for the right side of the vehicle.

~2. Removing the front seats~
First, disconnect the battery using the 10mm socket. This is recommended by the manufacturer to prevent accidental discharge of the air bags.
If you have the E-torx size 12 socket, removing the seat bolts is a breeze. I zipped them right off. Undo the back bolts, then slide the seat to its rearmost position, then remove the front bolts. Roll the seat onto it’s back to access the harness, undo the harness, then remove the front seat either from the front or rear door. It doesn’t matter.
Go to this site and download the PDF that Anchorman posted. That is all you need to know to remove the front harness. It took me HOURS of searching the web to find a resource this good – there aren’t even any good videos demonstrating what the PDF shows. https://www.cx3forum.com/threads/drivers-seat-removal.17234/
This was both the easiest and hardest thing about the project. Where I got stuck was removing the wiring harness from underneath the seat. Don’t be like me and stick a screwdriver in there, because that can damage the plastic. Instead, simply lift the white tab, press the tab underneath, and the harness comes off nice and easy. The link above with the PDF by Anchorman is what I WISHED I had at the start. I hope this will make it much easier for you.
Don’t be worried about the airbag going off etc. Using the diagram in the PDF, it’s just 1 harness and it comes off super easy and clips back in super easy too. It’s idiot-proof. You won’t have any trouble.

~3. Remove the interior plastic trim~
Again, watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aat4kUanm9w to see how to remove the trim and in what order. It’s actually quite easy and easy to reinstall as well. Just remember that the front and rear passenger scuff plates go on last. The other interior trim, does not matter what order you reinstall it.
Another tip, when removing the furthermost front inside trim (i.e the fusebox cover) and its equivalent on the front passenger side, there is a plastic nut securing that trim in place at the very front of it. It’s hard to see in there. Simply reach your hand in there, find the nut, and lefty-loosen it all the way until it comes off. Easy peasy!

~4. Remove the carpet~
You can pull up the carpet one side at a time. I recommend starting with the left side. In one area only, I cut through my carpet in order to remove it on the rear passenger areas, where it is affixed underneath the front seatbelt holder. This is not a problem. It was just easier this way, and because that area gets covered up by plastic trim, it doesn’t matter if you cut through it to make your life easier.
Once the carpet is lifted up, vacuum underneath it to ensure you have a clean surface that your butyl will adhere to.

~5. Do the driver’s side first!~
The front left side of the vehicle floor is the hardest to do because you have to contend with the footrest, reaching underneath the steering wheel, and the gas pedal. I removed the accelerator pedal – it is just held in place by two 10mm nuts, and then an electrical harness that easily clips off. Remove it and set it aside. Then, lift the carpet and remove the Styrofoam. Use a needlenose plyer to help unclip the plastic portion holding the Styrofoam in place. I did not end up reinstalling that plastic piece, as I installed sound deadener where it would have plugged into the floor. No harm.
I suggest doing the driver’s side first because once you’re done that front left area, the rest of the car is super easy. So do this while you’re fresh. Try to cover as much as you can in the front wheel wells, because that is a significant area of incoming road noise. Be systematic about cutting the butyl and closed cell foam in the correct sizes here, as you will have to reinstall the gas pedal, the Styrofoam, and the carpet properly. The good news is that it’s all easy to reinstall. I didn’t have any trouble.
Once you’re done with the driver’s compartment, systemically work your way with large butyl sheets and closed cell foam through the rest of the car floor. There is no need to apply this stuff up where the plastic trim will be reinstalled, on the inside lateral frame of the car – if you do so, it might be more difficult to reinstall the carpet and the plastic trim. Just do the flat bottom floor only, and you can hold the carpet up to access up along the centre console as well. (Keep in mind this is written for someone with my skill level – i.e newb. If you are more advanced and know what you’re doing, then go ahead and put some butyl or CCM in the inside lateral area, the area otherwise covered up with plastic trim).
I did not go for 100% coverage. To do that would take a lot longer. I went for about 90% coverage with the butyl and closed cell foam, and the rubber Technoflex layers covered up pretty well 95% of the area.
When you are laying the material down, ensure not to cover the holes for the seat bolts. If you do by accident, no worries – just use a screwdriver to poke through them, and you can easily still thread the bolt through when you go to reinstall your front seats.
Repeat the same steps on the right side of the vehicle.

~6. Reinstall the plastic trim.~
First reinstall the carpet and ensure all the holes line up. Reinsert the plastic clips into the holes to hold the carpet in place. Then, reinstall the frontmost trim piece, ensuring it clicks into place, and finally screw the plastic nut on. You may need to lift the rubber insert around the door to replace the plastic trim properly – the rubber insert comes off and goes on very easily, it is very forgiving to work with.
Then, install the B pillar trim piece. Then, the inside rear trim piece. Finally, the scuff plates, front and rear.

~7. Reinstall the front seats.~
~8. Reinstall the rear cushion.~
~9. Plug in the battery again.~
You’re done! Go for a rest drive and let the results speak for themselves!

Final thoughts
I did not take pictures because I was too busy installing the stuff and there are plenty of pictures available on the various threads.
I did reach out to many people on the forum and on Reddit who have done this project and from everything that I’ve learned, I believe this should be all you need to know to do this project successfully.
It will take several days so set some time aside. Here are some rough estimates:

2024.05.19 07:09 fusiondriver Title jumping on 79 vehicle in Georgia?

Seller said he bought car in question two months ago but he recently moved from Georgia from Idaho and hasn't gotten a GA license. He said he couldn't register the car without GA license when he went to the tag office. Says he has the GA title. Sounds like he never got the title changed over to him? Or maybe just not registered it.
If he never registered it, does that mean he never got the title changed over to himand he'd be title jumping?
Also, in Georgia, title is not needed to register vehicles, as bill of sale is enough for cars 86 and older right?
I want to get this car but do it right, will I have issues getting the title? He said he can sign it off to me. What should I watch out for?
If its not registered, I can't drive it?
Sorry for the ignorance.

2024.05.19 06:59 AdvertisingFree3968 My marriage is over.

But even typing this, it doesn’t feel real. I still have hope tonight that he can change. I feel so stupid.
I am 38F and he is 39M.
I am devastated. I would do anything and everything to be married forever, but it’s no longer an option and hasn’t been since the fourth month of our marriage. I was 8 weeks pregnant with his child and he assaulted me with a metal cup in the car while he was driving on the freeway because I wouldn’t stop saying why he was upsetting me. The fight continued when we got home and he had called the police, lied to them and had me arrested. Eight weeks pregnant. With bruises up and down my body. I got arrested. I spent the night in jail and had to listen to my baby’s heartbeat for the first time from a county jail exam table.
Somehow, through that, we stayed married. Abuse makes you do wild things. It changes your brain. Abusers purposely make you confused. Through counseling, I am coming out of the confusion now, though.
I could go on and on about the abuse I have suffered. I am here today because typing this makes it real that I am leaving. And I am here today because I need support in understanding that he is not going to change.
This morning things escalated by 8am. This is typical weekend behavior. I discovered that he has been smoking cigarettes in one of the vehicles that is in my name and that I pay for, and that I have asked him not to smoke in repeatedly. I do not smoke. I think it’s gross. And it has ruined the interior of this vehicle that is expensive. Not only that, but our child has asthma. Most likely because he IS a smoker. Anyway, I grabbed something out of the vehicle for his 6yo and I came back in and simply said “please don’t smoke in the truck anymore. Please don’t tell me that you haven’t been either.” This sent him into a spiral. He called me names and said that I am controlling. He started following me around the house screaming behind my head. He is nearly a foot taller than me and this is physically intimidating to me. So much so that my hands start to shake, my heart races and my thoughts become blurry when he does this. I knew at this point it was best for me to get our child and leave. So I was doing that. But this morning he would not let me leave the bedroom and was blocking me from leaving with our child with his body in the doorway. I told him I was going to call non-emergency if he didn’t move. And he would not. So I was trying to figure out how to call but my hands were shaking so bad and my brain was so jumbled I gave up and called my sister on speaker. I asked her to call the police. As soon as he saw her name on my phone he moved and let me leave. He yelled at me and our child out the door and to the neighborhood “see - I’m so scary - I’m letting you leave”. I got our child in the backseat and drove down the street to park and get them dressed. They were only in a pull up. I saw the officer coming down the road and flagged him down. I told him what happened and he went and talked with him. I left with our child and went to my sisters. Eventually we came home and he has been upstairs ever since. This is also typical. He will have an outburst. And then go upstairs and not speak to me for a week. And then one morning he’ll just wake up and decide that it’s time to be normal again. And generally comes to me and says “have you calmed down”. Which, as you can imagine, perpetuates the situation further. And drags it on. He does not understand accountability.
We have been married 3.5 years, together for 5 total. We have one child together (2yo) and he has two other children (6yo and 14yo).
We moved in together after 9 months of dating. That is when the abuse started. The first time he was physically abusive, he broke through our bedroom door. Broke. The entire door - down. Somehow, I decided to continue.
From the start, I’ve known it was never going to last. He is unstable. He has a long and dark history of mental illness (both himself and his immediate maternal and paternal family). In addition to struggling with substance abuse his entire life. His childhood is tragic and full of heartache. It shaped the man he is today, and not for the better.
He is in the trades industry and has a GED. I am a director level professional and have a college degree. His father was in prison for the last half of his childhood and eventually took his life when he was released. My father is a retired architect, Vietnam vet. We grew up completely different. Both of our parents divorced. He then suffered verbal and emotional abuse from his step father. I suffered verbal, emotional, and physical abuse from my mother.
I believe my mother is a narcissist and undiagnosed. And I believe my husband has narcissistic tendencies and/or is one. But I am not a medical professional. I am going on what I’ve experienced with both of them.
When we first met, he was 34 and I was 33. He was unemployed and really not doing well. Drinking in access. A lot. Everyday. But I did not know. I was doing very well. I had spent my 20s creating a fulfilling and financially successful career. He spent his 20s job hopping and, quite honestly, messing around. But we had fun together. But having fun together is not real life.
Here is where the manipulation began. He was upfront about his upbringing and past. And was genuinely making steps towards a better life. He is a born again Christian. And as an educated person, I believe he has grabbed on to what is actually important in the Bible. However, he is unable to abide by what a husband biblically should be. He does not love, protect or provide for me or our child. We joined a church, I became involved and made friends, and we went there as a family for multiple years. Until one night he showed up drunk, and I never went back.
I am the breadwinner. I pay for ev. ry. thing. He keeps his entire paycheck and will not give me money to pay bills. He will also not physically pay the bills. I manage and pay all bills. But not because I don’t want him to. I have begged, cried, and tried a million different systems (both digital and analog) to make him involved. And he flat out refuses. He abused our shared checking by taking money out to “pay bills” from his personal checking account and then did not pay those bills and spent the money. So I would then have to pay multiple months and late fees to catch up. Many. Many. Times.
In addition to not contributing financially, he does not contribute to the household upkeep or yard maintenance. Literally nothing. If I want the yard kept, I do it, or I pay someone to do it. If something on a vehicle goes out, I make the appointment and consult with the technician. But again, not because I want to, but because he will not participate. Or if he does, it’s half assed and more work for me. He does not grocery shop or cook. He has never cooked one meal for me. I think he’s maybe gotten a bowl of ice cream for me a couple times? He does not clean. He has cleaned the bathroom in our home two times. We have lived here 4 years. We live in separate bedrooms because he won’t pickup after himself. His room is squalor. Clothes on every square inch. Fast food wrappers. No sheet on mattress. I have cleaned it for him many times in hopes that we could make a drastic change and start sleepin next to each other again. But he refuses. I know this sounds insane that I have stayed married. It sounds insane to me.
He verbally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, sexually and financially abuses me. Maybe not all at once, everyday. But one of them most likely daily now. Or a couple. It’s been a very long time since there has been a long stretch of stability or peace.
However, I am changing all of that this year. I have hired an attorney and am climbing through the paperwork right now.
On Christmas morning last year, before we hosted family that day, he threw a (heavy) laundry basket full of dirty clothes at me as I was going down the stairs because I asked him for help with something. And after the first one hit me, I sat down and covered my head so I wouldn’t fall, and he threw another one at me. I don’t know how I masked my raw emotions through the rest of the day with family over. I ate not one bite. I pushed my food around my plate and tried to make my face contort into normal emotions for the day.
But I stayed. Again.
Mother’s Day morning this year. Just one week ago - I spent it locked in my bedroom with our child paying the divorce attorney retainer fee on the laptop as he screamed at me what a piece of shit mother and wife I am. I honestly don’t even know what I did or remember why it escalated. Most likely because it was a holiday - and not about him.
I am exhausted. I have lost close to 30lbs since January. People are beginning to notice.
I wanted a family more than anything. I adore my child. I spend my days and nights dreaming up ways to enrich their life. I wanted family vacations and world travel. I wanted to host, big, extended family holiday gatherings. I wanted my little baby to know what it felt like to have a mom and dad at home together every night. But not at this cost. The very worst part of my parenting is staying married. I am a bad parent every day that I stay here.
I wish I could file the petition and fast forward a year. I know I’ll be okay. It’s ripping off the bandaid that hurts.

2024.05.19 06:44 Ok_Accountant1541 Proposition: A Pioneering Move for Faraday Future - A Call to Attempt Privatization

To the Visionary Investors of Faraday Future:
Today, I propose an unprecedented step for Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. (FFIE) and its community of investors: to consider attempting something historically significant by transitioning from a public company to a private entity. This ambitious endeavor isn’t just about changing our business structure; it’s about pioneering a new path in the electric vehicle industry and potentially setting a new benchmark for how companies and shareholders can interact in an increasingly volatile market.
The Vision:
We stand at the threshold of possibly creating a model for controlled, shareholder-driven privatization, aiming to stabilize our operations and enable focused, long-term growth away from the public eye and the inherent instabilities of the stock market.
The Proposal:
1. Collective Shareholder Initiative: Every shareholder’s vote counts in this monumental decision, regardless of the number of shares held. We can attempt to make history together through a collective affirmation of this path. 2. Strategic Advantages: • Steady Growth: As a private company, FFIE would be free to pursue ambitious goals over the long term without the short-term pressures of public market performance metrics. • Operational Stability: Eliminating the public trading of our shares can insulate us from market volatility, allowing for a more stable financial and operational environment. • Investment Opportunities: Going private can open doors to significant private investments, which are often more patient and aligned with our strategic goals than public investments. 3. Historical Impact: • Innovating Corporate Practices: Our successful transition could inspire other companies, showing a viable method for achieving stability and growth through privatization supported by a united shareholder base. • Empowering Investors: This initiative could stand as a testament to the power of shareholder democracy, proving that investors can decisively influence the future direction of a company. 4. Long-Term Vision:
This proposal is about constructing a legacy of innovation and sustainable growth. We aim to establish FFIE as a leader in the electric vehicle industry, adopting a business model that sets us apart and could be emulated by others.
Your Participation:
This historic move requires your active participation. We need a majority to agree to this transformative step, ideally achieving a supermajority to demonstrate overwhelming support for this initiative.
Upvote if you want to attempt to redefine what is possible for FFIE and its stakeholders. Together, we can break new ground, setting a precedent not only for this company but for the industry and corporate governance as a whole. Let’s seize this moment to shape a future where FFIE leads the way in innovation and stability in the electric vehicle sector.
Consider this call to action as more than a vote—it is an opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking chapter in corporate and industry history in my opinion.
The possibility of taking Faraday Future (FFIE) private through collective shareholder action is rooted in several practical considerations and precedents in corporate finance and governance:
1. Shareholder Unity and Influence: The fundamental requirement for such a transition is the unity and agreement among shareholders. If a significant majority of FFIE’s shareholders, particularly those holding a large portion of the public float, agree to the proposal, their combined voting power can initiate the process of going private. This unity can effectively influence the company’s strategic direction. 2. Financial Feasibility: The financial aspect involves assessing whether there is sufficient capital either among the shareholder base or through external financing to buy out the public shares. Private equity firms, venture capitalists, or even a consortium of investors could provide the necessary funding, attracted by the potential long-term growth and profitability of the company away from the public markets. 3. Legal and Regulatory Framework: The legal process of going private is well-established. It typically involves a tender offer, where shareholders are offered a specific price to sell their shares, followed by a shareholder vote. The transaction must comply with securities laws and regulations, including fair disclosure and fair price provisions, to protect shareholders’ interests. 4. Strategic Advantages: Privatization can shield the company from the volatility of public markets, allowing management to focus on long-term goals without the pressure of quarterly earnings reports. This can be particularly beneficial for companies like FFIE, which are in the capital-intensive early stages of growth in the technology and automotive industries. 5. Precedents: There are numerous precedents of public companies going private successfully, demonstrating that with the right conditions—such as a clear strategic rationale, shareholder support, and adequate financing—such transitions can be achieved. These examples provide a roadmap and can instill confidence in shareholders considering such a move. 6. Long-Term Value Creation: Going private might allow FFIE to undertake restructuring or strategic shifts that are difficult under the scrutiny of public markets. This can lead to enhanced value creation that benefits all stakeholders, especially if the company can later re-emerge as a public entity at a higher valuation.
The combination of these factors makes it feasible for FFIE shareholders to consider and potentially succeed in taking the company private, provided there is a clear understanding of the benefits, the risks are well-managed, and there is robust support from a majority of the shareholders.
Taking Faraday Future (FFIE) private could offer several monetary advantages for the company and its shareholders. These financial benefits stem from the different operational and strategic flexibilities that private companies enjoy compared to public ones. Here are some of the key monetary advantages:
1. Cost Savings on Compliance and Reporting: Public companies are subject to rigorous financial reporting requirements and regulatory compliance that can be both costly and time-consuming. Going private eliminates the need for frequent public disclosures and compliance with complex securities regulations, which can save the company significant amounts of money in auditing fees, legal costs, and administrative expenses. 2. Avoidance of Short-Term Market Pressures: Public companies often face pressure from shareholders and analysts to meet quarterly earnings estimates, which can lead to short-term decision-making at the expense of long-term value. By going private, FFIE can focus on long-term strategic investments without the distraction of short-term market expectations. This can lead to better allocation of resources towards projects that enhance sustainable growth and profitability. 3. Improved Capital Allocation: Without the pressures of public market expectations, private companies can redirect funds that would have been used for dividends or stock buybacks into more productive uses like research and development, expanding operational capacities, or pursuing strategic acquisitions. This more flexible capital allocation can lead to higher returns on investment. 4. Potential for Higher Returns Upon Re-Listing or Sale: If FFIE can use the period of private ownership to streamline operations, enhance profitability, or innovate in its product offerings, it could potentially re-list on a stock exchange at a higher valuation or be sold to a larger entity at a premium. This scenario could yield significant financial gains for the stakeholders who maintained their investment during the private phase. 5. Exclusive Financial Backing: As a private entity, FFIE might attract private equity investors or venture capitalists who can provide not only funds but also strategic guidance and industry connections. These relationships can be crucial in navigating market challenges and seizing new business opportunities, potentially leading to greater financial stability and growth. 6. Tax Advantages: Structuring deals and finances as a private company can sometimes offer more favorable tax considerations, depending on the nature of the investments and business operations. Private companies often have greater leeway in utilizing tax-efficient structures that might not be feasible under the scrutiny of public markets.
These monetary advantages highlight why going private might be an attractive option for FFIE, especially if the leadership believes that the company can achieve more in a less restrictive financial and operational environment.
If Faraday Future (FFIE) goes private, investors can realize returns through several mechanisms, tailored to the longer-term and potentially less liquid nature of private investments compared to public equity. Here’s how returns can be generated in such a scenario:
1. Dividend Payments: While private companies are not known for regular dividend distributions, depending on the company’s profitability and cash flow situation, it might decide to distribute dividends to its shareholders. This would be a direct way for investors to realize returns on their investments. 2. Increased Equity Value: The primary goal of taking a company private is often to restructure it away from public market pressures, streamline operations, enhance profitability, and drive growth in a less scrutinized environment. These improvements can significantly increase the company’s equity value. Investors can realize these gains when the company is eventually sold or goes public again through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), often at a higher valuation than when it went private. 3. Sale or Merger: If the private company performs well, it might become an attractive acquisition target for larger companies in the same industry or private equity firms looking to expand their portfolio. A sale or merger can provide substantial returns to the shareholders of the private company, depending on the terms of the deal. 4. Special Distributions: In some cases, if the private company generates significant cash flow and doesn’t require extensive reinvestment, it might make special distributions to its shareholders. These can be similar to dividends but occur on a less regular basis and can vary significantly in amount. 5. Secondary Sales: Even in private markets, shares can sometimes be sold to other private investors or through secondary market platforms. While less liquid than public markets, these sales can provide an exit strategy for investors looking to realize gains before the company goes public again or is sold. 6. Management Buyouts (MBOs): In some scenarios, the management of the company or a group of investors might decide to buy out the existing shareholders at a premium to the original investment, especially if they believe the company has substantial unrealized value. 7. Private Equity and Venture Capital Exits: If private equity or venture capital investors are involved, they typically have well-defined exit strategies that could include selling their stake back to the company, selling to another private investor, or pushing the company to re-enter public markets.
For investors in FFIE, going private could thus represent a shift towards longer-term, strategic investments that might yield higher returns, albeit with different risks and liquidity profiles compared to public stock investments. The key for investors would be to closely monitor the company’s performance and management’s ability to execute on strategic initiatives post-privatization.
The potential financial gain from taking a company private and then re-listing it on the public market within 1-2 years can be substantial, depending on several key factors. If successful operational improvements and strategic investments are made during the private phase, and the market conditions at the time of the initial public offering (IPO) are favorable, the company could see a significant increase in valuation.
For example, if a company is taken private at a valuation of $500 million and during the private period, strategic and operational enhancements lead to improved financial performance, the company could potentially be re-listed with a valuation of $1 billion or more. This would represent a doubling of the initial valuation, offering a substantial return to the investors involved in the privatization and subsequent public offering.
The exact gain would depend on the degree of improvement in the company’s fundamentals, the economic and market conditions at the time of the IPO, and investor sentiment towards the industry and the company specifically. Such a strategy requires precise execution and favorable market dynamics to achieve these levels of return. That’s not the only option though.
Everybody better blow this tf up. 😤💎

2024.05.19 06:31 tomKphoto_ Drove one today

I drove one for 50 miles from Dellenbach in Fort Collins. Up to Horsetooth Reservoir for the twisties, through Laporte and out to I-25 towards Wyoming for some SuperCruise time. We have a 2019 Leaf that we charge with solar panels and a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness that got rear-ended on the I-25 Autobaun the other night. Could the Equinox take the place of my late Outback and be my new work car? I drive 25k a year as a wedding photographer in Colorado's metro Front Range and into the mountains (Vail and Breckenridge mostly).
Highs ...
OK ...
Lows ...
I was really knocked out by Google on board, the giant screens and SuperCruise. It felt like the surprise and joy of experiencing Compact Discs when they first came out (alright, I'm old). I love live mapping and this thing kills at it.
I want a loaded 3LT but fear a build-out might take too long (I'm currently out a car after the Outback was hit). In conference with their sales team next week to decide.
Hope you get to drive one soon. It's such a modern classic.

The 2024 Beijing Auto Show is still going strong. Since the first day of the auto show, Zhou Hongyi and Lei Jun's "one red and one green" appearances caused a traffic frenzy, setting an example for all automaker bosses. CEOs from various companies visited each other's booths, praising one another, which became a common sight at this auto show. One "hot search" trend after another was produced, bringing unprecedented attention. Almost every day, the exhibition venue was packed with people.
After the traffic frenzy, some trends have become increasingly apparent. Many exhibition visitors observed that intelligent driving was undoubtedly a hot topic at this auto show, with major automakers heavily showcasing their intelligent driving technologies.
For example, XPeng's senior director of autonomous driving system development, Ma Jun, introduced XPeng's latest intelligent driving technologies and achievements on site. According to him, in April 2024, XPeng became the first Chinese automaker to successfully test its self-developed, high-level navigation guided pilot (HNGP) system based on autonomous driving technology in Europe, accelerating the global production of XNGP.
Interestingly, on the eve of the auto show, the International Data Corporation (IDC) also released a report titled "Intelligent Driving Capability Assessment, 2024," comprehensively evaluating the intelligent driving experience of various automakers through real-vehicle testing.
It is understood that IDC's evaluation this time covered six automotive brands: NIO, Li Auto, Tesla, WM Motor, XPeng, and Zeekr. It focused on seven major capabilities: intelligent vehicle model coverage, automatic parking, memory parking, highway lane centering control (LCC), urban LCC, highway navigation guided pilot, and urban navigation guided pilot. Each dimension was scored from 1 to 5 based on the measured performance of various functions, with higher scores indicating better performance.
The final report showed that the automotive brands included in the report generally scored above 3 in all functions.
Among them, thanks to its long-term investment and accumulation in AI and intelligent driving, XPeng has been able to integrate advanced intelligent driving functions into lower-priced models and demonstrate outstanding performance in complex urban road conditions, receiving full scores in 6 categories.WM Motor also performed well in memory parking and urban navigation guided pilot thanks to its technology advantages from Huawei. Brands like NIO, Li Auto, and Zeekr also scored decently in this assessment due to their resource integration and continuous efforts in the intelligent driving direction. Tesla's performance was not outstanding in this assessment due to limited function openness.
IDC also predicted in the report that global sales of intelligent driving vehicles will maintain rapid growth, while AI-driven intelligent driving development and expansion of autonomous driving application scenarios will be important market trends in the future.
Some automakers have already started to increase their efforts in these directions. For example, regarding the issue of end-to-end large models for vehicles, several automakers have announced that their launch timelines will be concentrated in the first half of this year.
At this auto show, XPeng's chairman He Xiaopeng also announced that its end-to-end intelligent driving solution has begun public testing and will be officially released next month. According to He Xiaopeng, based on the end-to-end large model, XPeng's XNGP advanced intelligent driving assistance system will complete upgrades to the perception large model and the control large model.
In addition to the end-to-end driving solution, XPeng's AI Tianji system released this time is said to be the industry's first operating system that applies AI technology to intelligent cabins and intelligent driving, and is expected to begin mass rollout on May 20th of this year.

2024.05.19 05:51 Continent3 Got a New Job. Want to Get a New Guitar

Any suggestions for a new guitar?
Nine months after getting laid-off, I've got a new job! I promised myself that I'd get a new guitar once I found my next job. Wife is OK with it and the bills are paid. (The idea of getting a new guitar was such a great motivator for finding a new job. Being able to pay the bills is OK too...)
I've set a budget of $500-1000. I'd like to spend less if possible. Being unemployed has chewed into our savings and I'd like to start repairing the damage there too.
I've got an Epiphone LP Standard PlusTop Pro that I really like. (My first guitar) The downsides are that it's heavy. The coil splitting tones are nothing to write home about. The neck feels like it dives a bit too. I'd like something lighter with single coils or P90s. Here's my short list:
1.) Epiphone Casino: $699 USD
2.) Fender Player Strat: $679.99
3.) PRS Silver Sky: $849? (Not on sale yet)
4.) Fender Player Plus Strat: $999.99 (in Tequilla Sunrise)
If anyone has any better ideas, I'm game.
