2024.05.28 20:21 InfiniteHench iBuyPower only offers AIO with H9 Elite and AMD 7900, what gives?

Haven’t built or customized PCs for ~ 15 years, trying to dip my toes back in. I moved here from Las Vegas two years ago. I used to be able to get purified water treated with reverse osmosis, really cheap at a water machine in the parking lot. Since I've been here, I haven't been able to find any. Where can I buy that kind of water in redding?

I get this sensory overload feelings after a whole day yesterday choosing/ buying air tickets.
All the decisions, details to which date / time/ airports, fears of mistakes, cancellation policies, check in bags sizes, choosing seats, etc
Fear of over spending money, what if I can’t make it to the flight due to any unexpected changes.
Today I feel like I can’t get out of bed. Curtains closed lying in dark bedroom. Nausea. Aches in the back & legs
DAE? What is this? What do I do now to recover?

2024.05.28 19:59 ECHuSTLe Ain’t got 2k

I’m kinda salty honestly. This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve considered getting into sim racing bcuz I’m into cars in general and I get this random urge. Unfortunately I’m not much of a gamer and I own a M1 MacBook Air. Nobody ever makes a video or a good post going over the cost of entry/listing things you need. I legitimately sat down and put a list together so I could truly get an idea for the cost of entry into this hobby. The only thing I wouldn’t immediately have to buy is a screen. So I figured the numbers at roughly $1,500.00 for entry level equipment which in my opinion is a lot for a random hobby. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve spent thousands modifying my car in real life but that has been spent over the course of years instead of a lump sum. This time around though I’ve decided I’ll start putting money aside here and there specifically for this in hopes to join you all on the track soon!
If anyone has any tips or suggestions for cutting costs let me know! I plan on buying things used to cut some costs.

2024.05.28 19:53 RKDreddit Whose responsibility is it to provide toilet paper/take out the garbage in a shared AirBnB? [UK]

Hello, Just got done staying 5 nights in an AirBnB. It was a 4 bedroom flat in which we rented a room and the other 3 were all used for AirBnBs as well. The host did not occupy the flat. On day 4, the apartment ran out of toilet paper. I wasn’t sure whose responsibility it was to supply more so I bought a couple rolls but it seemed unfair the host expected us to buy our own toilet paper to share with the house. There were no explicit instructions about a “starter package” like I have read about online. In addition to this, during my stay the main garbage in the kitchen was not changed and no instructions were provided on where to leave a full bag of garbage. I did reach out to the host for an unrelated reason and they never responded back even after I checked out. It was my first time staying in a shared AirBnB, so I was just looking for some clarification on who should be taking care of the apartment in these manners. Thanks all

2024.05.28 19:43 Ilyes512 Using the iPad Pro 13 mainly as my second screen when on workcation

So currently I got a 11 inch iPad Pro 2nd gen (125GB) that I often already use as a second screen when working in a cafe or something like that. Now I am thinking about getting the new larger iPad Pro 13 inch mainly so I can use it a secondary screen. For travels I already bought a 13 inch Macbook Pro Air M3.
BUT... I got a few doubts. I love my 11 inch and I use it quite often for reading (tech) articles using the browser and watch videos (Netflix). I am afraid I wont like the 13 inch because it to "large" for that kind of stuff. Also.... its DAMMMMM expensive, however its going to be a business expense which makes it feel less of a cost (when I bought the 11 inch it felt way more expensive at that time).
I am also looking at just buying an external monitor instead, something like the Lenovo M14d. The disadvantage of that would be that I would need to travel with both a laptop, external screen AND an ipad.
Another thing I am afraid for is it burning in because I would use it as a external screen. I would get "paranoid" and think about it when using it which would distract me. They should just have kept using the mini-led :/ (And no I dont consider the new iPad Air or an older model because if I am going to spent money I would rather spend a little bit more).
Anyone here using the 13 inch as an extra screen and how use full is it to you (I am a software engineer so I would mainly use it for my browser, Slack, Database GUI etc).
At one one hand I am like "F** it lets buy it" but on the other hand its SOO much money for just a "tablet" (I would buy the new pencil, but only use it to sometimes take scratch notes. And I would probably also initially only buy the folio case without the keyboard).
What should I do.

2024.05.28 19:43 Cookie_834 Looking for advice as FTBs

Hi! We have had our offer accepted on a 1900s mid terrace property (link to listing). Our level 2 survey was surprisingly okay with your usual 3s for services and two additional elements: visible damp damage on a party wall and some blocked drainage gullies in the garden. Surveyor said it was a reasonable purchase with the usual TLC required when owning an old property, but we should get a damp surveyor.
So we got an independent one who had a look and it proved quite helpful. Don't have the report yet, but had a phone call and was told we'd need more work to diagnose the damp, he will provide step by step procedure for it but we should definitely look into adding some extra air bricks to the back as the extension may have covered the old ones (3 on the front but only 1 on the back). He also said some of the gutters appeared blocked in the back and there was an unblocking kit right there so vendors are obviously aware.
While doing his survey, he also clocked onto the fact that there appears to be movement on the front of the house. Basically the inner leaf and outer leaf are shifting away from each other and there's significant cracks around the window and door frames on that wall. Like you can literally see the downstairs window detaching from the wall. There is evidence of wall tie works on the back, but not sure about the front so we should investigate but he said it shouldn't cost a fortune to fix. We have made the vendors aware of this and will see what they come back with.
However, both surveyors suggested a CCTV drains survey. We're a bit conflicted because 1. we think the wall is a bigger issue and 2. even if we need to fix some gutters surely it shouldn't be too expensive so we could just do it once we've moved it? We don't want to inconvenience the vendors or come across as fishing.. but also don't want to end up buying something that will cost far too much upfront in repairs - we are content with the fact that repairs will be needed over the years just to make that clear. As you can tell we are very inexperienced!

2024.05.28 19:34 Queen-of-Sharks Who did Michael buy in FNAF 6?

Who did Michael buy in FNAF 6?
Considering that Security Breach and Help Wanted 2 both show us that Michael reached the max level pizzarea before it was destroyed, it's prudent to ask who Michael bought before dying. While it is technically possible that he didn't buy any animatronics or just any random assortment of robots, since you don't actually need to buy any of them to win, I feel like it makes the most sense for Michael to have purchased at least some of the available animatronics given that otherwise, he would have bought the stage for no reason. The question, then, is which ones did Michael buy?
https://preview.redd.it/e9ye9kpm973d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=34b4c70de1aed2a96ac34e7281c7d0b8ad7c6528
Right off the bat, I feel like the office alone implies that Michael at least had the Rockstars somewhere. While this doesn't necessarily mean RockstarMCI is confirmed or anything, I do think it's at least worth noting. This combined with the fact that Special Delivery's emails directly referenced the Rockstars implies to me at least that Michael had them, or at least that they did exist in some form, especially since they're placed alongside a picture of Lefty, an animatronic who we know was present during the fire because you need her to beat the game.
While most of the Mediocre Melodies remain up in the air, the modern games' frequent references to Mr.Hippo with the likes of Mystic Hippo, the Mr.Hippo fridge magnet that singlehandedly brought all of TalesGames into question (not a joke), and Glamrock Mr.Hippo, I think Mr.Hippo has a better chance at being one of the animatronics that Mike canonically purchased than most of the other mediocre melodies.
For a similar reason, MUUUUUUSIC MAN is also in the running for Animatronic which Michael bought, but it's not just because of DJ Music Man's appearance. You see, the mini windup Music Men are very clearly styled after FNAF 6 Music Man rather than DJ Music Man, meaning that Fazbear Entertainment had to have had that specific design somewhere, and DJ Music Man isn't just a case of convergent ideas.
El Chip and Funtime Chica are a bit more questionable. While El Chip does have a cameo in Security Breach, he's also very clearly his own character who either is under the Fazbear Entertainment corporate umbrella, or just frequently sponsors their endeavors. Glamrock Chica meanwhile makes a physical appearance in Help Wanted 2, but wether or not the protagonist ever physically encountered her or if it's just a weird AR creation is up to speculation, and there's nothing more concrete outside of that and her appearance in UCN, which I've been ignoring, because the gameplay of UCN has some weird lore implications in general which I'll probably make a separate post about some time in the future.
So, that's everything I could think of, but if I missed anything, please let me know.

2024.05.28 19:09 pauljeremiah Six Month Update After Buying My Dad His First Ever iMac.

So, just before Christmas, I posted here about how I bought my Dad an iMac M3 and iPhone SE (3rd Gen) for Christmas.
So here's how he's getting on so far.
He loves the iMac and took to it better than I ever expected. Photo syncing between his iMac and iPhone blew his mind how easy it is compared to what he had to do on his old HP PC. I got him to open the Photos app on his iMac, and then we went from a short walk around our garden and had him take six or seven photos and have them sync on his iPhone, but by the time we had walked back into the house, they were there on his iMac, and he was genuinely impressed. Also, he described AirDrop as something out of Star Trek.
He loves that he now has a dedicated Mail app, which he finds way easier to use than the Yahoo Mail website. Plus, he loves Safari's speed.
He thinks the iPhone SE's battery is the best he has ever had in a phone, and he loves wireless charging. However, he does find the screen to be just a little small. So, my brother and I plan to upgrade his iPhone to an iPhone 14 or the rumoured larger iPhone SE (4th Gen).
I'm planning to get him the new iPad Air M2 for his birthday in November. I haven't decided which screen size yet. I might as well complete the entire Apple Ecosystem for him, as he has an extremely slow Samsung tablet that he bought about six years ago.
Also, this morning, I asked him this question: If someone asked you if they should buy a Mac or a PC, which one would you pick? And he said, "The Mac," without hesitating.

2024.05.28 19:01 DREAD1217 Need help with airbrushing indoors, spray booth recommendations or DIY

Sorry this is such a constantly asked question I know people ask this A LOT and I have read those posts over and over and still nothing. For some context I've had an airbrush for about 6 months, I worked hard all last summer to buy one and...only used it once. My anxiety has stopped me from using it because I can't use a spray booth the normal way and I don't have the money for a $100+ booth.
Currently I plan to airbrush at my desk but the only window is about 10 ft behind me so I'm not sure how I can run a ventilation hose there as it would pass over my bed. I've seen some people recommend desktop air purifiers so maybe that's an option?
I really want to airbrush and ideally indoors so I won't have to worry about weather and more importantly my anxiety. Any help is appreciated just be patient please I'm new to this!

Since the upcoming rumored iPad mini 7th generation wasn’t released along with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models during May 7th event, I am wondering whether I should still wait a bit longer, or go ahead with buying the iPad mini 6th generation.
This is to be an upgrade gift for my dad who currently has an iPad mini 5th generation.
May 7 was actually his birthday and I was anticipating ordering the iPad mini 7 for him with its release during Apple’s event, but now I don’t know what to do.

2024.05.28 18:58 No-Mountain-3569 I have 4 yr old twins with so much love for the sport, tons of talent, and no fear yet. What can I do to support them and keep them safe? And what’s the next bike for them?

TLDR: what’s the best gear for really good 4 yr olds? Please explain to me like I’m 4 myself.
Hello all, I would love any and all positive advice on how best to support my adrenaline junkie kids.
Twin boys, 4, super competitive with each other and they recently discovered dirt pump tracks and the huge outdoor course in Novato California. They did the whole balance bike before they could walk thing and are pros at taking a fall the right way and minimizing injury.
Obviously I’m their mother and super proud of everything they do, but they are very impressive on their own and we always have people commenting on their skills. They can out preform kids 10 years older then them on real mountain bikes.
Right now they are riding and somehow getting air on 14inch guardian bikes I bought used and left out in the elements for a year. My first step is the get those a tune up. They are about to size out with 15/16 inch inseams and I want to get them some legit gear going forward.
Right now I am leaning towards the prevalo alpha 3 because the seat post can drop low enough for them to ride a 20 inch bike and I assume it will last the longest time while they grow.
I have had mixed advice about gears for young children and would love some input.
I need to get them full face masks. Everyone says just buy the cheapest one on Amazon but I don’t mind spending money especially on safety. And what is the best padding for them? I think they would prefer the shirt types.
I’m also hearing that we don’t need to spend money on it at this point and just get the basics, but that’s normally from talking to dads in the parking lot who haven’t actually seen the kids ride.
I realize this reads like a brag post but I really don’t know anything about the sport and I just watch as they keep going higher and faster and look more and More like the teens around them. I want the best for them but I don’t know where to start.
Also could use input: Are there mountain biking classes for kids this young? In Northern California?
I’ll eventually need to get a bike for my husband and I to keep up with them. Nothing fancy and cheap would be best, any suggestions?
Thank you all for your time!

2024.05.28 18:58 bird_enjoyer69420 New and Unexpected Severe Frame Rate Fluctuations on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU

Games I used to run with solid performance now frequently are running with severely low FPS. Games I've used to test this phenomenon are Elden Ring, Lies of P, Helldivers 2 (Steam) and Rocket League (Epic Games Launcher). Normally I ran these games with ~60 FPS on High to Ultra High graphics quality presets. Now when the new problem occurs, I can only run them with ~10-20 FPS on the lowest graphic settings. Curiously, when NVIDIA GeForce Experience client attempts to "optimize" these games, it reverts them to the high graphics settings -- even when attempting to play as such is impossible.
My specs:
What I've already tried:
Additionally, I ran a UserBenchmark test while experiencing these problems, and the test indeed rated my GPU as performing "Very Poor", and that overall my comp was at "Surfboard" level for gaming.
I've added screenshots of game performance when functioning normally vs when functioning with this issue.
What is the cause of my Jekyll and Hyde GPU? Can I fix this on my own? Is it a hardware issue?______________________________________________________________________________________________________
TL;DR: Games used to always run great, now they frequently perform potato quality.

2024.05.28 18:56 Maxwell_Ag_Hammer Ions for purification?

I don’t want to pretend to be an expert, but I’ve read a lot about how ions could potentially be harmful in air purifiers, especially if they produce ozone. For other radicals, I don’t know if the science is really there to tell us if they are harmful.
I am currently in the process of shopping for new AC for my home and the company wanted to sell me units that generate OH(-) radicals.
What have you all read about the safety of using ions for air purification? Do you think the pros (reducing VOCs, mold growth, etc…) might actually outweigh potential cons?
There is no way to turn this setting off. Any thoughts on this? Would you go for a model like this?
Just to be clear, I have other HEPA purifiers I use for my home.

2024.05.28 18:43 Savy_Spaceman Hellblade II: An Incredible game that I want so much more of

It's 3am right now and I just finished Hellblade 2. It took me 8 hours across about 5 days of playing at a comfortable pace (and "sprinting" during walking areas.) While, overall, I enjoyed it very much, there were some shortcomings. But I think an 8-8.5/10 is a fair score.
Before I go into specifics of individual aspects of the game, I want to set Chapter 4 aside from the rest of it. (This is the one that started off with the torch portal puzzle, then continues to the cave, and ends with the fire giant bossfight) The 1.5 hours I spent on this chapter had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. 10/10 visuals and presentation, 10/10 horror elements, 10/10 combat sequences, just perfect.
Visuals:
Starting off with the obvious, Hellblade 2 is the best looking game I've ever played. I frequently found myself mistaking the landscapes and skyboxes for live action shots DURING GAMEPLAY. Everything was just designed so beautifully that I had to take a moment to take it all in. Occasionally the character models as well would blow me away. During cutscenes the face movements of the whole cast was wowing me. Melina definitely deserves another Best Performance nom for this.
Length:
I knew going in that the game would feel short. I gotta say that during the first 3 chapters I felt that and it was weighing down on my impression of the game. the game felt somewhat hollow to me and i thought "will the game really feel like this for 5 hours then end?" and it bummed me out. Then the game felt like it found its footing in chapter 4 with a fantastic 1.5hr chapter and continued it for 5 and 6, both of which were about 1.5hrs each for me. I'm seeing posts of people saying they beat it in 5 hrs and I honestly don't buy it. Like I said , I was playing at a comfortable pace, not speaking out collectables, and "sprinting" throughout and it took me 8.
Story:
I remember the big questions following Hellblade 1 were "Did any of it happen? Was any of it real? what's happening in Senua's head and what is happening in real life?" Hellblade 2 answers some of those question (though not entirely). While that may remove some of the mystery that we found alluring, i like the answers we got. Senua's psychosis gives her a different perspective on this world of giants and monsters. but the giants and monsters are definitely there and i like that. Slavers using slaves to appease giants and Senua allowing herself to be captured so she can put a stop to it was a great way to join the real and fantasy of this world. I feel I need to replay it with the new narrators to get a full grasp of the story here and I'm anxious to do so.
Combat:
Here is where the game took some steps forward AND back. The scale/presentation of the combat sequences is a major upgrade. It feels like so much is going on and the time and effort put into MOCAPing every execution/countehit/miss etc shows. It's fluid and impactful and big. from the first major combat sequence in chapter 2 it reminded me heavily of this scene from Game of Thrones . and that blew me away. On the other hand i noticed immediately how there weren't any 2v1 combat scenarios. Also the voices no longer alerting Senua of the oncoming attacks was a misstep. That feature was a major highlight of the first game and I felt it's absence here.
Puzzles:
The puzzles in the first game are incredible in my opinion. I LOVED walking through the portals to change the map to open gates, doorways, ramps, etc. While I do appreciate that Hellblade 2 had a similar but not exact puzzle structure, I can't help but feel like the Hellblade 1 puzzles sucked me in a bit more. That being said, the entirety of Chapter 4 breathed life into these puzzles with the torch/portal/(time travel?) mechanic.
Audio Design:
HOLY SHIT the audio in this game was incredible, they managed to find new ways to make my skin crawl. I have a fear of choking/drowning etc and whosoever job it was to gasp for air into the binaural mics needs a raise because i had to take multiple breaks and put my headphones down and take a few deep breaths. Also the distorted voices in Senuas head stood out to me. I don't remember anything like those 2 in the first game. The fact that Ninja Theory found new ways to expand on such a niche feature is a big plus I think.
Final Thoughts:
I paid for this game because I wanted to support Ninja Theory and I'm glad I did because I walked away satisfied with my experience. That being said, there is room for more over all. I like the people that joined Senua on her journey and I want more time with them. Another 1.5 hour chapter between 3 and 4 to grow Senua's relationships with Thorgestr and Fargrimr and another 1.5hr chapter between 5 and 6 to get more time with Astrior would have gone a long way, I think.
