How do you explore what you *actually* like doing, as a young adult?

2024.06.02 11:15 wojwod How do you explore what you *actually* like doing, as a young adult?

Hi everybody,
for context: I am a 22 M, about to finish my CS degree. By all external metrics, you would say I do pretty good in life (girlfriend, friends, university, jobs etc.) I do however suffer from anxiety, had a series of panic attacks and a brief depressive episode - all of which pushed me to start therapy, around a year ago.
Therapy was (and still is) extremely helpful in so many ways I don't even know where to start when I think about it. To me, the most important thing is that it got me started asking really deep questions about myself and helping me figure out why some things in my life are the way they are. To the point...
Parents:) I was a middle child and so I rarely got much attention. My mom is a doctor and she would always basically work from 7-8 am to 6-7 PM and then drop asleep on the couch. My dad has anger issues and is unstable emotionally, he would always scream over every little thing that didn't go his way and always made me feel on the edge. I believe this mix has much to do with the problem I am about to describe.
I was always a really good boy. Polite, quiet, would take care of myself, didn't bother anyone, always had good grades. Heck, I couldn't bother anyone if I wanted to: I never quite felt like I had any right to do so. Adults always liked me and they would always say what a good child I am and would envy my parents and ask how come they have such well behaving children. When I got a little older and I got my first PC (I was around 9) I started playing LoL a lot. And I mean a lot. I was actually excellent at it. My years to come would be all so similar to each other as if they were one day - wake up, go to school, do homework while still in school so I can have more time at home, get home at around 4PM and play until 10 PM when dad would order me to go to sleep.
I never really did anything else with my day, as a family we would occasionally go to some family party but that would be pretty much it.
The problem I have right now is that I am an adult now. I make my own money, I have decent amount of free time and freedom to do whatever I would like. The problem is, and hear me out, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO. I never wondered that. It has always been either study or play - there was nothing in between. The thing is I am graduating now and when you just work you don't really have that much to do and LoL just ain't gonna cut it anymore - I feel really bad when I play it, I've stopped for a year now actually, but it makes me even more anxious when I have free afternoon to spare. When I talk to my friends, the "normal" things they do on weekends are boring to me - things like riding a bike, going to a bar, playing some sport etc. - and it's not just that they seem boring to me, I've tried doing them all with friends - I literally find myself wanting to go home and sit in front of computer all the time. It's not like I am even doing anything on the PC, I just feel like I am wasting time when I don't either study or play.
I am talking about this is with my therapist but it's going slowly, plus there is a significant age gap between us and I sometimes feel like he underestimates just how much gaming this much may have affected me.
I guess my question is: have any of you guys experienced something similar? Any experiences to share? How did you overcome it? Any insights are welcome. It feels good to just write about it.

2024.06.02 10:48 LieutenantPatang Sarkar Reimagined

I am back after a break with another reimagining, and I thought this time I would tackle another movie that fell disappointingly short of expectations... Sarkar. Sarkar released to huge expectations after the success of both Thuppakki and Kaththi, but the film failed to deliver on its promise of a Mudhalvan-like political fantasy; I have to admit though, the movie is a guilty pleasure of mine which I do often revisit. That being said:
WARNING: I am not claiming to be a better writer than any of the people involved in the film and this is not a criticism of their ability.
The movie begins with a boarding meeting at one of the companies in Canada that GL (Sundar's company) is about to acquire. The members of the board nervously waiting for the arrival of their new boss, the media is waiting outside and we get the hype up for Sundar's eventual mass intro. After a build a of tension, a Rolls Royce pulls up and the camera follows as a man wearing pair of Tom Ford shoes exits the vehicle and walks into the elevator in the building as the media tries to snap some pics of him. The members of the board continue to wait impatiently, as the elevator doors open to reveal Sundar Ramaswamy (Vijay). He basically walks in doesn't say a word and sits at the head of the table. Sundar's lawyer drops the paperwork on the table, each member of the board takes their turn signing the document. Finally the document comes back to Sundar who flicks his signature onto it and gets up to leave, but one of the board members stops him to ask, "How do you feel after ruining the livelihood of 3,000 employees?". Sundar turns around and smiles at the board before doing the signature 'Vijay gum flick' and walking away in slow motion, queue the 'CEO in the House' song as Sundar heads out to celebrate acquiring the company. The scene is to establish Sundar as a proper overconfident and cocky 'corporate monster' instead of just telling us that he is a 'corporate monster'.
From there the movie continues pretty similarly with Sundar coming back to India to cast his vote, even though he takes his job very seriously he is still a patriot at heart and has a soft corner for his people. Same as the movie, someone else casts his vote and he begins organising lawyers meetings and press conference to get his vote back. All goes pretty much the same until the point Sundar's driver tells him about the atrocities done by the government and the family that set themselves on fire, Sundar is genuinely quite unaware of all this. Similar to the movie, he directs his convoy to go to the colony where the little girl is. Unlike the movie, we have one long take where the camera follows Sundar from behind as he gets out his car and walks through the local area, through the alleys and slums, observing the common folk; this is to show how out-of-touch he really is with reality. He finally comes to the little girl's house, and the camera finally pans to reveal Sundar's somber face; this scene is crucial as this paints his actions for the rest of the movie, it is important that we spend time showing how this incident impacts him. Unable to look at the girl's burnt face Sundar turns around and walks away, he signals his PA to sort the family out with treatment for the little girl.
From here, we go to the scene with Rendu (Radha Ravi) at the hotel; this will go pretty much exactly how it did in the movie. The only difference here is, going into the hotel Sundar is slightly solemn, but his expression slowly changes with Rendu's speech and we get the scene with the 'Topu Tuckeru' BGM as Sundar smokes. The following events also unravel similar to the film with the action block and the 'Simtaangaran song'; these are commercial filler compromises that must be made, its also a staple of the ARM-Vijay combo movies. The following scene is also similar with Sundar instigating the court case to stop Masilamani's inauguration, the key difference though is that Sundar doesn't speak in the court he silently watches from the stands as his lawyer does the arguing. Once the ceremony is stopped, he gets up, does the 'Vijay gum flick' and walks away in slow motion with the 'CEO in the House' BGM; this mirrors the opening scene where Sundar finesses the board room, but this time he's finessed the government. The election is postponed by 10 days.
Meanwhile, Masilamani is furious by what Sundar started, he encourages his party members to start rioting and to find where Sundar is. The riots go on for 2 days, but there is no sign of Sundar anywhere. Masilamani grows impatient and starts seeking advice from Pappa (Varalaxmi), who says that they shouldn't have tried instigated or started beef with him in the first place, saying that she will be back in Chennai within the next day or so. While this is happening, media crews have gathered outside Masilamani's house which confuses him. Rendu goes outside and asks them why they are here, for which they respond: 'Sundar told us to meet him here'. Both Rendu and Masilamani are shocked. Suddenly a convoy of youngsters on bikes arrive with a Rolls Royce travelling at the centre of the party. Sundar gets out of the Rolls Royce and he is followed by his lawyers. Sundar asks for permission to enter, for which Masilamani obliges. The two sit down and face each other, with Masilamani asking what Sundar wants. Sundar responds with this:
  1. "I've got 750 youngsters who are ready to work for this party."
  2. "I've got 40 crores in hard cash."
  3. "I've got the tag of GL CEO."
  4. "Will you let me join your party?"
Masilamani and his partymen are shocked, he asks Sundar 'Why should I let you?". Sundar basically responds by saying:
"Your party's image is in shambles, even if you pay people to vote for you, they won't do it. You're guaranteed to lose this election and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm here to offer you the winning card, I will do everything to ensure your party retains. All I ask for is 70cr in campaigning funds and that you give me 2 MLA seats and take in the 750 youngsters that I have brought as party members. If your party loses, I will pay you twice what you paid me as a penalty but regardless of the outcome you can't raise this to the media or I will sue your ass. If you agree, sign the contract. You can let your lawyers read over it, but you have nothing to lose."
Masilamani is shocked by this offer and looks over the contract, he doesn't know how to read so he passes it to his lawyer who verifies it and says that it's legit. Rendu proposes that they wait for Pappa before signing, but Sundar says "if you don't accept this within the next 1 hour, I will take it to the opposition party". Masilamani is properly checkmated now, but what could he possible have to lose? He smiles and signs it, Sundar smiles and shakes his hand. Sundar walks out with a cigarette in-hand, the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' guitar rift rolls in the background.
INTERMISSION
Going into the second half, we have a few questions:
NOTE: I completely ignored Keerthi Suresh's character as it added nothing to my story.
With 8 days left till the election Sundar sits in his office, he calls his team and GL and tells them to run the ads of him giving the post press conference speech after getting back his vote (as he does in the movie). This creates waves in the media and makes him the poster boy for the coming election. He tells his PA not to organise any press conferences until he says so. Sundar has booked out a small venue where he will be speaking to the 750 youngsters that he has inaugurated into the party, this is where he finally reveals what happened in the last 2 days. We get a flashback and it is revealed that he ultimately did the same as what happened in the movie; to run an internet scan on all the most suitable candidates of each constituency and run interviews like a corporate company (I really like the idea of this), he positions the people he selected as independant candidates in their respective constituency. Sundar has been planning this since the scene with Rendu at the hotel; this all plays as a montage over the first half of 'Oru Viral Puratchi'. After the song we cut back to this speech with Sundar and the youth, where he basically says we are going to infiltrate this party from the inside and then he says the 'branding' dialogue from the movie (which I like the idea of, the mannerism was kinda cringe though).
Following the speech, Sundar enacts his next plan. He identifies Masilamani's candidates who are most likely to win in their respective area and launches a smear campaign through his influence over GL. This forces Masilamani to identify alternate party members to take their place, but Sundar presents Masilamani with the constituency polling data which shows that the independant candidates (that he selected based on the internet scan) are in the lead. Sundar suggests to Masilamani that they buy them out with a salary (also like corporate company), however Masilamani doesn't know that these individuals were planted by Sundar. Masilamani is beginning to get suspicious about Sundar's plan but he still hasn't fully sniffed it out yet given his lack of understanding about technology.
Pappa finally arrives in Chennai from Canada and confronts her dad about everything that has happened, she is shocked to find out that he has basically sold the party to Sundar. She is quickly able to deduce Sundar's plan based on the information given by her dad and Rendu. Pappa also reveals here that her husband was one of the board members from the start of the movie, which explains why she knows so much about Sundar.
Given that Sundar now controls most of the seats in the party, he begins his campaign from the background with candidates doing most of the work ; this plays over the second half of the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' song. As soon as this montage finishes, we find out that Masilamani has died. A confusion has now arisen as to who controls the party, with only 3 days left until the election. Pappa gives an angry press conference saying that Sundar had cheated her dad and stole the party, revealing the contract to the public. She also announces that she and her father's loyal supporters will be joining the opposition party. Based on the sympathy votes gained from her father's death the opposition offers Pappa a significant number of seats. Sundar is shocked to see what has happened, he won't be able to sue Pappa as Masilamani was the one that signed the contract (not sure about legal terms, but lets just go with it), suing her will also only get him more negative press.
Sundar gets a call from the GL board questioning him about his extensive involvement in politics given the bad press around his contract stunt. Cut to the next scene, Sundar is in a press conference and publicly announces his resignation from GL as he is about to leave the stage, he is heckled by one of the reporters on his way down. Sundar has to give up his company assets such as his PA and bodyguards, if he loses this election he still owes Masilamani's family 140crs as per the contract that he signed. For the first time in Sundar's life, overconfidence has led to his downfall. With two days left till the election and no internet influence and power, how is Sundar going to win?
The next day he posts a Facebook live and addresses his plan transparently with the party, this can be the same as the 'Idhu Namma Sarkar' scene from the movie. Sundar explains how he chose his candidates and compares it to the millions of college graduates who get a corporate job, highlighting the need for the government to be qualified. This gets some positive buzz for Sundar but not enough to win the election. As Sundar sits in his office, hopelessly, one of his candidates tells him about 'Saatai' Muthukumar (this plotline will be the same as the movie); this could be the ideal trump card to win the election. This ticks of an idea, given that all Masilamani's loyalists have moved to the opposition along with Pappa all the party assets now reside with Sundar. He hires a corporate auditing team to unpack all the party records and finds all the holes in there records this allows him to unpack the 'Saatai' Muthukumar conspiracy and he has all the evidence ready to go public... but he waits. Sundar contacts Pappa for a meeting and the two sit down, with lawyers present. Sundar reveals everything that he has found from his audit of the party and threatens to go public with it unless she voids their contract where he owes her family 140cr, he also agrees to sign an NDA. Pappa obliges and asks him to burn the evidence in front of her, which Sundar does. On the car ride home, Pappa orders for Sundar to be murdered as she doesn't trust him.
The next morning is the day of the election, similar to the actual movie Sundar begins tweeting from a fake twitter handle about the evidence pulled from the audit, leading the media on a wild easter egg hunt to put the evidence together themselves, this removes any paper trails that lead back to Sundar. Pappa and the opposition party struggle to manage the storm that has been caused by the tweeting, she knows this was done by Sundar but has no evidence to prove it; the only way for her save face is if Sundar confesses to his manipulation for which he needs to be alive, so she cancels the hit on him. It is soon revealed, similar to the movie that the fake twitter handle is associated with that of a dead man, begging the question of who is tweeting? Sundar and his team re-route the IP address of the tweets to the leader of the opposition party and spin the narrative that he did this to tarnish Masilamani's reputation as a leader, which leads to in-fighting. Pappa is furious, as although she knows the truth about Sundar's access to the evidence, she can't speak about it due to the NDA (which would open her up to being sued). With no other option, she plots to have Sundar killed, as it looks like he is going to win. We can insert an obligatory climax fight here, where Sundar overcomes the odds but realising an opportunity, he fakes his own death which increases the votes to his party, leading to a victory in the election.
The following day is the swearing-in ceremony as all the candidates take up their positions. Pappa is also present and she along with everyone else believes Sundar is dead. Just as the first candidate is swearing-in, Sundar arrives and sits right next to Pappa, there is a media frenzy happening outside. There is a small bit of dialog between the two and he explains why he did all this (i.e. reference back to the girl who was burnt outside the collecter's office, etc). He finally tells her that the contract he signed with her father was only for 8 days, so his time has expired and he is no longer part of the party. Sundar gets up and walks away in slow motion as the credit roll.
This is my reimagining of Sarkar, what are your thoughts and what would you do differently? And what movie should I do next?

2024.06.02 09:40 themanthemyththemax how do i break it to my mom i’m buying a motorcycle?

for some context:
i am 19 years old and am in my second year of college. i’ve been floating around trying to get by mentally. i have nerve damage throughout my entire body due to sports so it’s hard to find something to take my mind off of how bad my condition really is.
i’ve been riding dirt bikes, off road vehicles, go carts, side by sides etc. since i was about five. it’s something i have a groove for.
my mother used to be a first responder, so shes seen a lot of things. she’d come home sometimes and tell me about stories of her interactions with people, some funny, some sad.
she knows i’m into motocross and such and has absolutely stressed how much she hates motorcycles due to the accidents shes seen.
i’ve been planning to buy a motorcycle for quite a while, a ninja 500R to be exact. i wanted to do something nice for myself, just to have something nice for me. i’ve been super hyped about this for the past year or so and me and my other friends (who have bikes) have been hyping up riding and going on trips together. i research all the time about tips and have even signed my self up and paid for my MSF class. so im extremely invested.
however i am extremely unsure how to tell her. i thought about buying and just not telling her but theres no way id be able to hide it forever. i’m pretty sure if i bought it and she found out she’d disown me or worse… how exactly do i go about this?

2024.06.02 09:36 JoshAsdvgi The Foundling who was befriend by Wolves

The Foundling Who Was Befriended by Wolves
The elder of two brothers was very expert at catching eagles.
He would cover a hole with leaves and brush, place on top the carcass of some animal, and hide underneath until an eagle settled on the brush to eat the meat.
Then he would seize the bird’s legs, draw it inside, and kill it.
Once he caught a big red eagle, but not wishing to kill such a bird he let it fly away.
The younger boy now begged permission to catch eagles also.
The elder refused him three times. The fourth time he consented, but warned the lad not to touch a big red eagle.
So the boy concealed himself in the trap.
One of the smaller eagles soared down and began to eat the meat.
The boy caught and killed it without difficulty.
Another settled on the trap, then a third. Those also he killed.
Then came a big red eagle. Forgetting his brother’s warning and tempted by its bright feathers, he seized its wing and tried to drag it down.
The eagle, however, was too strong. It pulled him out of the trap and carried him far away.
His brother looked for him that evening, saw the gaping hole in the trap, and knowing what had happened sat down and wept.
He wept and wept, until he shriveled up and became a tiny baby again.
An old woman who was traveling to one side of a party happened to hear the baby cry.
She picked it up, wrapped it in her blanket, gathered some of the feathers that were strewn about, and hurried on to rejoin her people.
In the party were her ten sons.
As the eldest was pitching his tent that evening, she said to him, “Back yonder on the hill I found a little baby and brought it along with me.
May we sleep in your tent tonight?”
“No”, he answered gruffly. “The child will disturb us too much.”
She approached the second son, the third, the fourth; each rejected her in almost the same words.
Last of all, she approached the tenth and youngest.
“Yes, mother, come in and bring your baby with you.
He will be a little brother to me.”
So the old woman lodged with her youngest son, to whom she gave her eagle feathers.
The years passed by, and her baby grew into a sturdy youth.
One winter the Indians set up their tents beside a large pond and began to scour the countryside for buffalo. Not an animal could they find anywhere.
Before long their supply of food ran low, yet they would not move away, for they still hoped that one or more herds would appear in their neighbourhood.
While they were idly waiting, the chief of the band tried to capture two foxes that had made their dens in the vicinity, but the animals were too cunning for him.
Annoyed at the failure, he sent a crier round the camp to proclaim that the man who brought him their skins might marry one of his daughters.
All the best hunters went out to try their skill but failed — the foxes outwitted every one.
One day the boy brought some sticks into his foster-grandmother’s tent and began to make a bow and arrows.
She said to him, “What are you going to shoot, my grandson?”
“I am going to try for the foxes.”
“Foolish boy. If the best hunters in the camp can’t catch them, you certainly will not succeed.”
“I can at least try. It may be that I can shoot them with my arrows.”
The grandmother only laughed; she said no more.
Unnoticed by anyone in the camp, the boy slipped away the next morning and hid near one of the dens.
A fox emerged and wandered away.
As soon as it disappeared, he planted a circle of pointed sticks around the hole, then hid again and waited.
Not long afterwards the fox returned, spied the watching lad, and darted for its hole.
The sharp sticks pierced its neck and killed it. The boy killed the other fox in exactly the same manner and, concealing the furs under his coat, he started for home.
As he trudged along, snow fell and obliterated his tracks so that no one discovered where he had been.
Outside his tent he stopped, glanced quickly round, and concealed his furs in a heap of firewood.
Then he went inside and sat down without saying a word.
His grandmother looked up and asked:
“Where have you been?”
“Oh, I just went out and caught the foxes.”
She laughed again.
“Oh, but I will prove it,” he said.
And going outside he plucked a few hairs from the furs and brought them in to her.
“You shouldn’t pull the hair out of our dogs,” she said. “The weather is very cold, and they need all their fur.”
Three times he brought in scraps of the fox fur, and each time she declared that he had pulled them out of the dogs.
The fourth time he brought in the furs themselves.
The old woman gazed at them in amazement.
At last she said, “My grandchild, you have been very lucky.
But you are too young to marry one of the chief’s daughters.
You had better give the furs to one of your brothers.”
The boy did not answer.
In the evening she told her younger son what had happened.
Loudly he voiced his praise and said to the boy:
“Don’t give the furs to anyone else.
Take them to the chief yourself.”
At dawn the people discovered that the foxes were missing and informed the chief, who walked through the camp crying before every tent, “Who killed the foxes?”
No one answered him. None of the hunters could produce the furs, and no one thought of the poor orphan lad.
Greatly perplexed, the chief retired to his tent again.
The sun had reached noon when the old woman, concealing the furs under her robe, stole inside the tent and sat down humbly at the right of the door.
The chief looked up and said to his family, “This old woman has never visited me before.
Feed her well, and then let her tell us what she wants.”
They fed her, but instead of announcing why she had come, she quietly slipped through the door and returned home.
“I brought the furs back,” she said to the boy.
“You are such a poor wretched orphan that I was ashamed to tell him.”
Before he could reply, her own son spoke up, “You did wrong, mother.
You should have told the chief.
Go back now and give him the furs.”
The old woman went out slowly.
Presently she returned with her message again undelivered.
He sent her a third time but shame still sealed her lips.
Driven back for the fourth time, she sat with bowed head inside the doorway vainly trying to muster up her courage.
At last she rose to steal outside again but as she stooped to pass through the door, the fox’s tail slipped down into view below her robe.
With one bound the chief pulled it away from her, seized the other fox fur also, and cried, “Now — which of your sons was it that killed them?”
“It was my foster-grandson”, she murmured.
“I was too ashamed to give you the furs before.”
The chief sat down in silence, and his elder daughter turned her face away in disgust. But the younger girl cried out, “If her grandson has killed the foxes, I will marry him.”
So the younger girl returned with the old woman and married the youth, while her sister remained with her father.
Three days passed without incident.
On the fourth, the youth said to his bride, “Tell your father to build the pound higher and to keep a sharp watch, for tomorrow I am going to drive in some buffalo”.
The girl carried his message to her father, who issued the necessary orders to his people.
He was a wise old man and realized that the orphan possessed great medicine-power.
Most of the hunters, however, ridiculed the youth, and the boys in the camp pelted him with clods when he started out at dawn for the hunting grounds.
All that morning the camp waited expectantly.
A party that left before the orphan had returned empty-handed and reported that there was no sign of game. The sun was already low when a watchman excitedly signaled that a large herd of buffalo was approaching the pound, driven by someone he could not distinguish.
It was the orphan, who, having changed himself into a wolf as soon as the camp was out of sight, had rounded up the animals and now in his proper form was herding them toward the corral.
Glowing with pride, the old chief shouted to his followers, “Come and watch my son-in-law drive in the buffalo.”
As the last of the buffalo stampeded into the pound, the Indians closed the barrier, mounted the ramparts, and shot them down.
Not one escaped.
Then they butchered them and divided the meat and hides among all the families in the camp.
Next day the youth drove in more buffalo, and still more on the third day.
At daybreak on the fourth he said to his wife, “Tell your father to strengthen the pound, because in today’s herd will come the biggest animal he has ever seen.
That animal he must reserve for me to kill.”
The herd he drove in that day was even larger than the three earlier ones.
He did not stay to watch the massacre, but retired to his tent, where he ordered his wife to comb and dress her hair.
Then from behind his sleeping place he mysteriously produced two beautiful costumes, one for her and one for himself.
Arraying themselves in these garments, they proceeded to the pound, where the hunters had killed all the buffalo except the giant animal he had specially reserved for his own arrows.
He shot this last buffalo, and his wife carried the meat in a precious otter skin to his tent.
There she disdained to wash the skin, but scornfully threw it away, for now she and her husband were so prosperous that even an otter skin possessed little value in their eyes.
Henceforth the camp recognized the orphan youth as its leader and promptly obeyed whatever commands he issued through the old chief, his father-in-law.
Yet there was one person who hated him — his wife’s older sister, the girl who had scorned him in the days of his poverty.
If her parents offered her meat from any buffalo he had driven into the pound, she flung it to the ground in contempt.
Constantly did she spy on his movements in the hope that her “medicine”, which was a mole, might be able to work him some injury.
Now the youth frequently visited a hilltop above the camp and often slept there.
One day the girl discovered him asleep and sent her mole-spirit to tunnel the ground under his body.
The mole did its work so well that the earth collapsed and precipitated him into a deep pit, from which he could not get out.
Then day after day his sister-in-law climbed the hill and mockingly threw dirt in his face.
In vain he cried for mercy and begged her to help him out, or a t least to tell his people.
She merely derided his misery. Not knowing what had become of him, his people concluded that he had perished.
Even his own wife gave up all hope and went into mourning for him.
Now that they had no one to drive the buffalo into their pound the Indians moved away.
Then a wolf that was prowling for food round the deserted campsite discovered the youth, and howled.
Soon a whole pack gathered about the pit.
The mother wolf said to them:
“Whoever succeeds in extricating this man may take him for her son.”
The animals scratched vigorously, but no sooner had they loosened the earth all around than the old wolf herself caught hold of him and pulled him out.
She adopted him as her son and allowed him to join the wanderings of her pack.
At night, because he no longer owned a blanket, the wolves made a soft mattress for him by spreading their tails together on the ground; but within two or three days they killed a buffalo, whose hide provided him with a warm robe.
This pack of wolves roaming in the vicinity spoiled the hunting of the youth’s people, who set traps to catch them.
But the youth protected his companions by breaking the traps.
The old chief awakened one night and listened to their howling.
“Hark,” he said. “I seem to hear a man calling to those wolves.”
He roused the hunters, who intercepted the pack and seized the youth as he ran in front of it.
The prisoner tried to bite them, but they said, “Don’t bite. You haven’t yet changed to a wolf.”
They then led him quietly home, where he settled down again with his wife and people.
Every night thereafter he lay awake in his tent, listening for the howl of his foster-mother.
For several nights he could not hear it.
Then one day he saw her skin drying outside a hunter’s tent for she had wandered away from the pack and had been caught in a trap.
The youth sent his grandmother to ask for the skin.
When she handed it to him, he grunted over it four times, at the fourth grunt it became a live wolf again.
He set the animal free and it returned to the prairies.
Thus he repaid his debt to his foster-mother.
He now resumed his hunting and rounded up a large herd of buffalo.
As the animals trotted over the plain, he called to a young heifer, “When my arrow strikes you, leap over the rampart of the pound and flee to that tall poplar beyond the hill.
Then lie down and die.”
The Indians slaughtered all the buffalo he drove into the pound except the young heifer, which leaped the rampart and fled over the hill.
The youth shouted to his wife, “Come with me.
We will follow it”.
“Let me go too”, cried his sister-in-law.
“Yes, you may come”, he answered.
So the two women accompanied him to the dead heifer and watched him butcher it.
“There is your load,” he said to his wife. “Carry it to our tent.”
“Give me a load also”, his sister-in-law demanded.
“Yes here is a load for you too.
You can use the intestine of the heifer for your pack-strap.”
The two women started back with their loads but had traveled only a very short distance when the intestine broke and the elder woman’s pack fell to the ground.
While she was retying it, her sister walked on and disappeared over the top of the hill.
Then the youth, who had lingered behind, began to howl like a wolf.
“Why do you howl like that?” his sister-in-law asked anxiously.
Without answering he turned his back to her and howled three times again.
Suddenly a pack of wolves appeared –his foster family.
They pounced on the woman and devoured her.

This reliable performance has given me peace of mind, especially during the recent storms that have brought about power outages in my area. The battery also charges quickly, so I'm always prepared for any situation.
However, there is one drawback I've encountered. While the battery works reliably, the instructions provided for installation are quite complicated and could have been simplified. In summary, the Wayne Water Systems WSB1275 battery offers a top-quality, reliable solution for my basement sump pump needs. The Mighty Max Battery 12V 22Ah is a versatile device that serves as a replacement for your Die Hard Portable Jump Starter. It's a maintenance-free 12V 22AH Sealed Lead Acid battery, known for its spill-proof nature and high discharge rate. This battery is designed to handle a wide range of temperatures, making it suitable for use in both high and low temperatures.
One of the most impressive things about this battery is its ability to resist shocks and vibration. And let's not forget the bonus of having a long service life and the ability to recover from deep discharge situations, which is particularly useful in emergency situations.
Now, let's talk about my personal experience with the Mighty Max Battery. I've used it to jump-start my car during a surprise power outage, and it worked like a charm. It's compact, which made it easy to store in my glove compartment, and it fits perfectly into the port on my Die Hard jump starter.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The product doesn't come with a wire harness or mounting accessories, which means you'll have to purchase those separately if you don't already have them. Additionally, the battery's weight might be a concern for some, but for me, it wasn't a deal-breaker.
Overall, the Mighty Max Battery 12V 22Ah is a powerful and reliable option for anyone in need of a portable jump starter. I've been using the Schumacher DSR ProSeries Jump Starter in my daily life for a few months now, and I must say it's been quite the reliable companion. When I needed to jumpstart my car the other day, it took me just a few minutes to get everything connected and running smoothly. The 525 cranking amps and 350 cold cranking amps really make a difference in those crucial moments.
One thing that really stood out to me was the easy-to-read digital display and ON/OFF switch. They made it easy for me to keep track of the battery life and to ensure I wasn't draining it unnecessarily. Their smaller size and reduced weight make them an attractive choice for those who are particular about the battery size.
However, there are a few drawbacks that I noticed too. 2024.06.02 09:04 Plus-Possibility-421 Atlas Black - Page 1 [Fantasy/Mystery - 508 words] Would you keep reading??

Hello, just want to see if you read this page, does it pique your interest enough that you'd keep reading. Trying to test some different intros. Thanks!

It was the third village this year. Barely any signs of struggle, houses intact, nothing valuable stolen. Nothing out of the ordinary except for one thing: all the people were gone.
Warden Hyukos stood in the village square, the only signs of movement coming from his men who patrolled the empty streets. The sun was beginning to set and the quiet wood houses cast long shifting shadows on the road, the sound of cicadas buzzing softly in the trees. Though it was a quite pleasant summer evening, making sweat run down his neck into his tunic, he shivered. He didn’t like this one bit.
Someone tapped his shoulder and he nearly jumped out of his skin.
“By the stars, Kyurias, nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“Sorry, sir.”
“Well, what have you to report? Have you found anyone?”
“No, sir.”
“Then what is it?”
“We just received a message from the magistrate.”
“And?”
“It looks like the capital is sending someone to assist in the investigation.”
Damn it, Warden Hyukos thought. The bleeding capital? He’d been investigating these disappearances for nearly a year now, with absolutely nothing to show for it. Not only did it look bad on him, it embarrassed the magistrate, and he wasn’t a man to embarrass. He ran a hand through his hair, which was acquiring more white strands everyday it seemed. He sighed slowly.
“Alright. Who are they sending?”
“Uhm. Well, according to the message, if it can be believed–”
“Just spit it out, who is it? Some minor lord’s hireling?”
“Eo Akami, sir.”
Some spit caught in the warden’s throat and he hacked a cough into his elbow.
“What, the bleeding archmage?”
“Er, according to the messenger, yes.”
“You’re telling me that Eo Akami, the war hero, the bleeding Red Mage, is coming all the way from the capital to the backwoods of the Wild North to help us look for some missing peasants?”
“That’s what he said. Like I was saying, the messenger in question, Junias, has been known to embellish or otherwise exaggerate the importance of his charges, just last week he ran a message from the magistrate’s cook to the local butcher, regarding the procurement of venison, and naturally–”
“Alright, alright, Kyruias, I get the point, don’t need every bleeding detail, do I? Just take me to Junias and I’ll question him myself.”
Kyurias led him down the darkening dirt road, his hand resting on the pommel of his sword. Hyukos pulled a rolled up parchment from his pouch, unraveled it, and placed his left hand on the complex pattern of ink inscribed. The pattern glowed gold and illuminated a 10 foot radius around them. He fastened the glowing parchment to his belt. The messenger was clearly exaggerating. Nobody of import had any interest in the coming and goings of the Wild North, much less an archmage to the king. He was under enough stress lately as it was, and he was in the mind to take it out on this Junias for adding to his increasing supply of white hairs.

🔗Durable DSLR Camera Case with Neoprene Exterior

https://preview.redd.it/e20685bss34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3477659f87ec3b0208121acf6263407df1dc1d9
I recently purchased the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me. I love the vibrant southwest pattern that not only looks great but also doesn't give away the fact that there's an expensive camera inside my bag. The dimensions are perfect at 7.25 inches x 6 inches x 5.5 inches, making it a great option when I'm on the go.
One of the standout features of this case is its durable neoprene exterior. It's rugged and weather-resistant, ensuring my camera stays safe and secure no matter the conditions. The cover zippers and metal hardware provide extra protection, while the reinforced belt loop offers stability and flexibility in how I carry it.
The adjustable shoulder strap and padded hand strap make it comfortable and easy to use, whether I'm carrying it on my shoulder or hand. However, I find that the bag can feel a bit weighty when I'm carrying a DSLR with a lens attached, making it better suited for shorter outings.
The USA Gear QTL Camera Case Bag has exceeded my expectations in terms of visual appeal, sturdiness, design comfort, size, and weight. The southwest pattern adds a touch of style, while the reinforced metal buckles ensure durability and longevity. The scratch-resistant interior and padded dividers provide extra protection for my camera and lenses. Overall, this case is a perfect blend of style and functionality.
While I appreciate the beautiful design and comfortable carrying options, I wish the interior had a bit more space to accommodate additional camera accessories. Additionally, the rain cover can be challenging to use at first, but once you're familiar with it, it gets easier. Despite these minor drawbacks, I believe the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest is a fantastic option for photographers looking for a stylish and durable camera case.

🔗Northwest Electronics Waterproof and Impact-Resistant Camera Case

https://preview.redd.it/5p7wmbpss34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a31ffc07bd06b23805eb6da07f86d02d3bbda72a
I've recently been using the "Northwest Electronics Shielded Case" for all my outdoor adventures, and it's been a game-changer. The O-ring waterproof seal is a lifesaver when I'm near water or in humid climates, giving me peace of mind knowing my gear is safe. It fits my camera and lens perfectly, leaving no room for damage.
The automatic pressure equalization purge has been especially useful, eliminating the need for manual adjustments and ensuring everything stays snug and secure. The high impact polycarbonate hard case has saved my camera from a few accidents already, and its robust cell core with solid walls provide extra support.
Despite its durability, the case is lightweight and fits comfortably in my bag. The throw-down latches ensure everything stays in place, even during the most trying of times. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the performance and reliability of this case.
However, one downside is that the customizable foam inserts can be a little cumbersome at first, but taking some time to measure and pre-cut everything made it much easier. All in all, I would highly recommend the Northwest Electronics Shielded Case for any adventurer looking to keep their gear safe without compromising on quality.

🔗Insta360 Gear Hard Travel Case

https://preview.redd.it/5iphym0ts34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2e129a86fa37b208adcce54ba2893c8d9e602a6
I've been using the Hard Carrying Case for Insta360 One X/X2 in my action photography adventures, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. The first thing that caught my eye was its button closure - it's so simple yet effective at keeping my precious camera safe and secure.
One of the features I absolutely love about this case is its durability. Made with high-quality PU material, it not only gives off a stylish vibe but also provides water resistance and protection against dampness. I've been traveling with this case for many photography trips now, and my camera is always in tip-top shape thanks to the hard PU surface that keeps scratches and dings at bay.
The size of this carrying case is perfect for those who want to travel light. I can easily fit my Insta360 One X/X2 along with its frame housing inside, making it easy to toss in my backpack or carry-on luggage. Not to mention, the convex lens part design provides extra safety to my camera lens from any potential damage like scratches, dust, or scrapes.
Another great thing about this case is its versatility. Designed specifically for the Insta360 One X/X2, it can also be connected with a selfie stick or used with a tripod for better results.
There's just one downside to this case - it might be a bit too mini for some people's taste. However, I personally find the compact design extremely convenient and portable, especially when I'm on the go.
In summary, the Hard Carrying Case for Insta360 One X/X2 is an awesome companion for all my action photography needs. Its durable and stylish build, combined with its versatile design and size, make it an absolute must-have for anyone who wants to keep their camera safe and sound while exploring the world of action photography.

🔗Fully Enclosed Waterproof Case for Rylo 360

https://preview.redd.it/o943bapts34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46ff74d106463eb67e1ddb5ac61b78906d70f564
The Rylo Adventure Case is the ultimate accessory for your 360 video camera, offering full protection during all of your outdoor adventures. I've personally used this case for surfing and snowboarding, and it's kept my camera safe from scratches and dings. The case is waterproof up to 3 meters (10 feet), making it perfect for underwater shots. Included are a mounting buckle and two adhesive mounts (one flat, one curved) for securing the camera to any surface - helmets, surfboards, windows, you name it.
However, the lens protector is made from a material that can be easily scratched, which is a con for those looking for a flawless protectant. Also, the sound quality is slightly muffled when using the case, which might affect your overall experience with the camera.
Overall, the Rylo Adventure Case is a solid investment for anyone who wants to take their 360 video camera to the extremes without worrying about damaging it. The ability to use it underwater and the secure mounting options make it a must-have for any adventurer.

🔗Durable Aluminum Alloy Protective Case for GoPro HERO8 Black

https://preview.redd.it/51s0vreus34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36884215f68c364f1ceac2c63c5245424efa9228
I recently purchased the PULUZ Aluminum Alloy Protective Case specifically designed for my GoPro HERO8 Black, and I must say, it has been a game-changer for my photography adventures. The sturdy aluminum alloy case not only provides an added layer of protection to my camera but also looks incredibly sleek and professional.
One aspect I absolutely love about this case is its ability to help dissipate heat effectively. I often use my GoPro for capturing high-definition videos in various settings, and I've noticed that the camera tends to heat up quite a bit. Thanks to the efficient heat dissipation properties of the PULUZ case, however, I no longer have to worry about overheating or damaging my camera during extended shoots.
Another notable feature of this case is its compatibility with external accessories such as UV lenses and polarizing lenses. With a 52mm thread size, I can easily attach these essential photo tools to enhance the overall quality of my shots. Furthermore, the built-in 1/4-inch screw hole ensures that the case is compatible with any standard tripod, giving me more flexibility when setting up shoots.
However, there is one small issue I've encountered with the PULUZ case – it does add a bit of weight to my setup. As someone who values portability, I sometimes find myself wishing that the case were a tad lighter so that I could carry it around more comfortably. Regardless, the benefits of this protective case far outweigh the minimal inconvenience caused by its weight.
In conclusion, the PULUZ Aluminum Alloy Protective Case has significantly enhanced my GoPro HERO8 Black experience. Its durable construction, efficient heat dissipation, and compatibility with a variety of accessories make it an indispensable tool for budding photographers and adventure enthusiasts alike. While it may add a bit of weight to your camera setup, the added protection and convenience more than make up for it.

🔗TSA-Approved Waterproof Action Camera Case

https://preview.redd.it/ekr6ywzus34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a34f8e5d164759d609dfbc86a99471bb5d2ea7b
I recently had the chance to test out the Eylar Protective Hard Camera Case, and I must say, it has been a game-changer in my life. As an avid action camera user, I understand the importance of having a reliable case that not only keeps my camera safe but also makes it easy to access. This Eylar case has exceeded my expectations on both fronts.
Firstly, the size is perfect for my camera needs, with dimensions of 13.37 inches x 11.62 inches x 6 inches on the outside and a slightly smaller inner space of 11.81 inches x 8.87 inches x 5.18 inches. The rubber gasket lining ensures that my camera remains waterproof and dustproof, offering up to 1 meter of submergence protection. The customizable foam padding is a great feature, as it allows me to create a snug fit for my camera and its accessories. The case includes two customizable pull and pluck cubes, one bottom pad layer, and one top egg crate layer, providing ample protection against shocks and impacts.
Another highlight of this case is its TSA approval, which means I can take my camera with me on flights without worrying about it getting damaged or stolen. The lockable latches and fittings ensure that the case remains secure throughout my travels. The case also has a stackable design, making it easy to store and transport multiple camera cases together.
However, one downside of this case is that it does not explicitly mention the materials it is made of. It would be helpful to know whether the case is resistant to cracking or damage from the sun. Additionally, while it does meet TSA requirements, the lack of specific details about the case's warranty might concern some potential buyers.
In conclusion, the Eylar Protective Hard Camera Case has been a valuable addition to my camera equipment. Its ability to keep my camera safe from water, dust, and shocks, along with its TSA approval and customizable foam padding, make it stand out among other options on the market. Although it could benefit from more detailed information about its materials and warranty, its overall performance and usability make it a worthwhile investment for action camera enthusiasts like myself.

🔗Soft Silicone Protective Case for GoPro Hero 9 Black

https://preview.redd.it/72acphivs34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2340c0ba5db10676d26fd6ad26c5d34905860e9a
As an avid adventurer and photography enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for the best accessories to protect and enhance the performance of my GoPro Hero 9 Black camera. When I came across the TELESIN Action Camera Protective Case Cover, I knew I had to give it a try, and it didn't disappoint!
Firstly, the customized shape of the case ensures it fits my GoPro like a glove, with no gaps, providing maximum protection from scratches and dust. The premium soft silicone material not only gives the case a delicate appearance, but it also feels incredibly comfortable and smooth to touch. I love how it safeguards my camera's delicate lens, preserving its brand-new condition.
One feature I truly appreciated is the easily detached lanyard. Not only does it allow me to either hang the camera around my neck for easy accessibility, but I can also wrap it around my wrist for secure and comfortable handling during intense action shots.
However, it's important to note that this case is specifically designed for the GoPro Hero 9 Black only, so other models won't be compatible.
Overall, the TELESIN Action Camera Protective Case Cover has significantly improved my photography experience, providing peace of mind knowing that my GoPro Hero 9 Black is well-protected and ready for action.

🔗Waterproof and Durable Action Shot Camera Case

https://preview.redd.it/d5jkjh2ws34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b35b88a739e37c9f69916417a6c60538db5bc4a
I recently got my hands on the Action Shot Water Proof Case, primarily to protect my trusty Action Shot camera during my adventurous outdoor excursions. I must say, it has been a game changer!
The first thing that impressed me was its solid build. The rugged design can easily withstand impact and falls, giving me the peace of mind when I'm out capturing extreme shots. Even more impressive is the all-weather sealing feature that keeps my camera dry and safe, irrespective of whether I'm jumping into a pool or attacking the waves on my surfboard.
The easy Click & Grip mounting system is definitely a highlight. It's compatible with all Action Shot mounting hardware, which makes it incredibly convenient to switch between different mounts based on my requirement.
However, as with any product, it does have its shortcomings. The case isn't as water-proof as advertised. I've had a couple of instances where water somehow managed to seep in despite being fully sealed. Additionally, the case's depth doesn't seem to match the 10ft/3meter specification, so that's another point of contention.
All in all, I believe the Action Shot Water Proof Case is a decent accessory for those looking to safeguard their cameras in harsh environments. The robust design and easy mounting system make it versatile, but the lack of proper water-proofing is something that needs improvement.

🔗Stylish Forest Green Camcorder Bag

https://preview.redd.it/1jwyjsews34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=083bc325c400363c574e9aefe3b90619cd2bc117
I recently got the Vangoddy Laurel Forest Green Sport and Action Camera Compact Camera Case to house my precious camera and related gear. As an avid adventurer and storyteller, I need a case that not only provides the utmost protection, but also keeps my camera and its accessories easily accessible.
Ever since I got this case, it's been a game-changer. The nylon material feels secure and sturdy, offering a sense of confidence that my camera is well protected, especially when I'm hiking through rugged terrains or surfing wild waves. Interestingly, its unique padded fold out camera compartment provides an impressive level of protection that has kept my camera safe from any accidents.
One of the things I love about this case is the rear pockets. They allow me to swiftly access my SD memory cards, cables, chargers - the list goes on. This quick access feature has saved me from countless missed photo opportunities. And, when it comes to carrying this case, the adjustable, removable shoulder strap with extra padding has made my travel experience incredibly comfortable.
However, one minor drawback is space for accessories. As a heavy-duty traveler, I pack quite a bit for my photography trips. So, while this case is fantastic, it might not have enough space to cater to all the accessories I might need.
All in all, I'd say the Vangoddy Laurel Forest Green Sport and Action Camera Compact Camera Case is a must-have for photographers or videographers on the go. Its high-quality material, superior protection features, and convenience, make it worth every penny.
So, the next time you hit the road with your action camera, don't forget to pack yours. You won't regret it!

I can personally attest to the convenience and efficiency of the Vivitar Hard-Shell Case for GoPro Action Cameras. . As an avid action camera enthusiast, I've often struggled with managing and transporting my ever-growing collection of accessories. .
This case, with its robust hard-shell construction and thoughtfully designed divided compartments, has been a game-changer. . No more scratched lenses or misplaced memory cards! . Plus, the simplified carrying strap means I can quickly grab my case and go. .
My only minor complaint is that the netted top pocket could be a tad bigger, but overall, this case has made my action camera adventures much smoother. .

2024.06.02 08:26 Lonely_Elk_17 AITAH for wanting to slap some common sense into my sister?

I (15F) and my Older sister Eli (22F) have gotten along for most of my childhood, I remember her as my hero and Shield for helping me and my younger sister Luz (12F) to not get grounded. But over the past few years I can see how she changed as a person, for context, I was her first course of help and advise before my parents because I was well known for knowing more than a 30 year old person, I was the first one to know when she decided to get married at the age of 18 with her now ex Vincent (21M). I was her Bridesmaids and the one that helped her thought the whole thing, like choices of dresses and Make-up, as well as Hair, basically her right hand.
Not long after the marriage Vincent came to my parents house, asking if we've seen her wife, apparently, they got into a fight over some texts on Eli's phone during a party, Vincent was mad, as he had a right to be, his mother was on his side as my mom and dad called Eli with no response. This happened one day before my 13th birthday, I was upset as to why she had runned away and not told me anything as she did always. The next day Eli came to my parents house for some clothes, she looked miserable, she told my dad she was staying over her Grandparents (me and her are only related thanks to my father), my father got mad at her, and she cried in me and now Luz' room for at least an hour, I said nothing because my father told me to.
For months we lost contact with her, and we didn't knew were or with who she was. Until she actually reached out to us, se tried to fix her relationship with Us over gifts, visits and even calls, my mom and dad Helped Eli thought the whole divorce process, everything was okay until we lost contact with her once again. My mom was pissed but said nothing, as well as my dad. Some months later we come to contact again, she told us she had some problems with her partner (who I just had the chance to meet like five times), but everything was okay now. Until her partner died from Blood cancer, she was devastated and she slept with us for a few days, during those few days I stayed up all night to watch over her (me and my sisters slept in the same room and bed), as she talked and moved during her sleep, I bought a night lamp so she could fell secure as she was now scared of darkness, and my mother noticed, she thanked me for taking care of Eli and Luz during sleep.
Our relationship grew, until she found another partner, and left her old MIL's house. Her partner was really chill, overall a great guy, but I never got to meet him fully. They broke up at least 2 times and got back before actually breaking up because the guy cheated. Not a month latter Eli got another partner, During that time as she lived in my parents house, she got into a Fight/Chat with my mom, I was present to whole thing where she claimed she had Depression, anxiety and other problems I can't recall, she never actually went to therapy so she was self diagnosing herself (I hate when people do that). During the fight she claimed that no one cares about her and she had to endure everything alone basically forgetting how I stayed up at night watching over her, helping her to distract herself on other stuff, taking her side at most fights etcetera. I told her "You have a family who cares about you, if you can't see that, is your problem because you're so selfish and Mentally unstable" She looked at me with shocked eyes as I was always a person to keep silent during fights, she told me to not get into the fight as it wasn't none of my business, I told her to suck it up because it was the truth and I went to sleep.
She became distant of me and I didn't mind, I had my friends to distract myself from my family problems. She had at least 2 or 3 other relationships after the during fight guy. She got with a guy who I don't like in any way a few months ago, she now lives with him. She had at least fought with him over 5 times, everytime she "Broke up" with him she would go with me and my mom, Telling us how she will not come back with him because of how he and his mother treats her, at one point my mom got mad, and my dad had to give Eli a long talk as he always did when something wrong happened.
1 month ago my dad died from a heart attack and blood cancer related. I was the one to maintain my composure for more long, i basically helped the rest of my family during the whole funeral, watching over my sister and mother when they slept. Eli cried, saying how she didn't said she loved my dad enough, or that she had a lot to things to apologize for, she hugged the box for the longest as my mother cried uncontrollably, mainly my two sisters and mom cried in my shoulders and chest as I only let some tears go.
We became more closer with my sister, only two days later Eli told us that her MIL told her to suck up her pain as my dad was already dead and another stuff (she sent us an audio of her MIL saying this). I obviously got mad and I told her to tell her MIL to f off.
In the 9th day of my dad's passing (as my dad's family is very religious) they made a praying, I didn't felt good and Eli took me outside, I talked to her and I cried so hard on her shoulder, my eyes where swollen and I could barely Oppen them. She told me that I could rely on her anytime I wanted, going to the beach, for a walk, anytime I wished. Everything went well until her birthday a few weeks ago. We visited and cleaned my dads grave, she told us how her partner called her all sorts of hurtful names because the guy saw her with another dude on a bike (her best friends boyfriend), she told us how her MIL called her name's and made her the bay guy, Bethen other things. She told us she was not going to get back with him, two days latter she went out with her friend, she didn't came Back until 9am the next day, apparently she went back with her "ex" over some cute words he told her, and that was it. Shes now on a business trip, she's posting stuff with her boyfriend and cute stuff that I now find disgusting realising how toxic that couple is.
I realised that Eli can't be without a man, I don't know what to do or what to tell her so she could realize that he's not the one as she said in her WhatsApp status. I can't let her live like this, i really care about her, i suggested therapy but she brushed it off, my mother told me to let her go, but I don't want Eli to end in the streets, or something to happen to her. She's my sister and I care about her, but anytime I want to talk to her privately my mother tells me to not do it and that is not worth it.
So, AITAH for wanting to slap some common sense into my sister?

Compatible with 0.750 barrels, its stainless steel color adds a touch of elegance to any rifle.
During my time using this gas block, I found the process of fine-tuning my rifle incredibly smooth and intuitive. The ease of use allowed me to easily achieve the desired level of pressure from the gas tube, resulting in a significantly smoother cycling and improved accuracy.
One small drawback I noted was that the gas block seemed to be slightly larger than expected, making it difficult to install in my handguard. However, this minor inconvenience was overshadowed by the ease of use and the significant performance improvements I experienced after tuning my rifle.
Overall, the Odin Works Tunable Low-Profile Gas Block is a reliable and effective accessory designed to enhance the performance of your rifle. Its user-friendly features and sleek design make it a standout choice for even the most discerning rifle enthusiasts.

🔗Ballistic Low Profile .936" Gas Block for AR15, Black Melonite Finish

https://preview.redd.it/obuw7f7dj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6b18b96d378f1d9d557a3086040c87b184a417d

I've been using the Ballistic Lo-Pro Gas Block for quite some time now, and I must say, it's been quite the experience. As an avid shooter, I've always been on the lookout for gas blocks that can handle the 243 Ar barrel and this one sure fits the bill.
The first thing that stood out to me was its low profile design, which makes it a great fit for most AR15s. I've often found myself in situations where a high-profile gas block gets in the way, but with Ballistic, that's never an issue.
But what I loved the most about this gas block is its durable Melonite finish. It's not just for looks, either. This finish has been helping me maintain the gas block's performance even after weeks of harsh use.
However, there's one thing that didn't quite meet my expectations. I've noticed that sometimes, the screws may need to be tightened further to prevent any wobbling. It's nothing a little extra patience can't fix, but it's a minor inconvenience nonetheless.
All in all, the Ballistic Lo-Pro Gas Block has been a solid addition to my AR15. Its low profile design and durable finish make it a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality gas block.

As a beverage enthusiast, I was recently in search of a reliable CO2 cylinder for my home bar setup. That's when I came across this recertified 15 lb steel CO2 cylinder. The sturdy, used steel construction caught my eye, and its competitive pricing was certainly a bonus.
During my first use, it was clear that the cylinder had been tested and refinished to ensure a long life and performance. The grey, rust-resistant paint finish added not only an aesthetic appeal but also peace of mind in terms of its durability. Of course, there was a CO2 CGA320 valve installed, which made connectivity and usage an easy, hassle-free task.
However, my experience with this cylinder wasn't without its drawbacks. I noticed slight variations in dimensions when compared to other cylinders. It was also disappointing to find out that the hydro test hadn't been done within the recommended time frame. Nonetheless, the cylinder still seemed to work effectively.
Overall, this recertified 15 lb steel CO2 cylinder exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and design. While it did have certain drawbacks, it served as a reliable and affordable source of CO2 that I could count on for my beverages, hydroponics, and even aquariums.

ft. cylinder was easy to handle and transport, making it perfect for my portable rig.

It seemed that not all welding supply stores offered refills, which was a bit inconvenient for me. Nevertheless, the Argon/CO2 Shielding Gas Cylinder served as a reliable backup for my main tank, and the small size made it a great choice for quick projects or when on the go.

One of the standout features of this forend is its compatibility with low-profile gas blocks and the ease of installation. Although it comes with a rather unimpressive packaging, I was happy to find the handguard undamaged and ready to use. It fits perfectly with Magpul QD and fits like a glove thanks to its MLOK compatibility.
However, one downside I experienced was the weight of the product. At 5.6oz, it might feel a bit heavier than some other options in the market. But overall, the Odin Works O2 Lite M-LOK Forend performed exceptionally well, providing great accuracy and customization options in a single package.

I'm planning to buy my first owned bike, a scrambler 400X, in the next 4-5 months. Right now, I'm saving up for it. In the meantime, I have borrowed Bajaj Vikrant from a friend who has two bikes.
I'm a bit concerned about keeping the bike clean, as the area where I have to park it currently has a lot of dirt. I'm worried that the dirt might damage the paint on the bike. Should I go for a ceramic coating on the bike to protect the paint, or would a bike cover be a better solution?
I'd appreciate any advice you can provide on the best way to keep my bike clean and well-maintained, given the less-than-ideal parking situation I'm dealing with right now.

2024.06.02 07:01 Comedian-Desperate Some food philosophy

TLDR: I have nuts(raw), fresh fruit and tea for breakfast every day because I can.
I got depressed recently and ate some junk food even though eating healthy is something I love... So I took a look at my diet and realized two things... 1. We(husband and I) were having all our fruit in smoothie form, recently having mango+berries+plant milk every day. 2. We were having all our nuts in nut bar form. There's some healthy ones that contain nothing but nuts+dry fruit.
If this sounds a bit rich, it is. I care about our health, it was a good investment, but when I got depressed making a smoothie became too much work and nut bars didn't appeal to me because I got so used to expect food to be super enjoyable and everything tasted bland. Now that food wasn't making me happy I found myself eating junk that didn't even do anything for me.
Nuts, fruit and tea are all foods I struggle to eat on their own. Eating an apple alone can make my stomach hurt. Eating nuts alone makes me get this disagreeable sensation of choking on powder from chewing them. Tea is something I can't remember to make or to drink once I made it.
So... I decided to train myself to eat them anyway, because how awesome is it when you need a snack to be able to get it in the fruit isle? It's like cheat codes irl. I had some apples at home which I was going to wait until they looked like hell before throwing them away, now they were just a bit off. I took an apple and a handful of the first nuts I found, almonds. Normally I would create a mix of nuts if I felt brave enough to serve us something so... plain, but now I thought "that's extra work", and extra work can turn into an excuse, or will be too much when I'm depressed. For a few days I had apples, almonds and tea every morning. In combination they actually taste great, so I practice eating them in isolation too so I don't end up relying too much on the flavor. Some days my breakfast will taste like whatever and that's ok, because that's exactly what will allow me to master and own this thing.
A-and.... it works. I used to buy a bag of apples and have it around for a month, thinking I should find the time to cook them or make them into ice cream because eating them was not appealing enough. Now I don't rely on food being appealing. If a fruit tastes bad I'll throw it away but it usually tastes ok or good. I stopped expecting food to taste great all the time and life got easier.
I was so tired of trying to build a life where everything is so chaotic around me and there's so little I can control so I asked myself "what's something I could I do that I could make into a part of me, something nothing and nobody can take away?". I was hoping to come up with more ideas, but this way of relating to food stood out because it truly does give me stability. I will always be able to find 1 type of fruit, 1 type of nuts and 1 type of tea available. If I end up dirt poor, I can still eat that way. Right now tomatoes (95% water) here are about 3* the price of wallnuts (5% water), so nuts are incredibly affordable and incredibly nutritious. And if a war starts I can still eat that way. If there's a food shortage, ok, I have 1 year supply of nuts (10kg/22lbs) and tea (18 boxes*20bags). If I can't access those 3 ingredients it means something truly terrible has happened in the world and it doesn't matter how healthy I eat anymore anyway.
It's even easier to tell people "this is what I eat every single morning, no exception" compared to "I usually eat a healthy breakfast". I've had people with good intentions offer me stuff they considered good enough and had to say so many times "I don't eat x because" when I was living with family or they assumed I was so healthy I deserved a "treat".

2024.06.02 06:45 DanteLight8776 I have questions!

I want to get a bike, but not sure what is good for a new rider. What would y'all recommend? I grew up around Harley's, but anything affordable and can take a beating is fine. I think I can ride (I hope to least, grew up on dirt bikes assuming is close enough but plan to take the class for the license so it covers me)
Also, what would y'all recommend for helmets, and gear? I promised I'd at least have a full head helmet and a long sleeve jacket minimum.

2024.06.02 06:34 CorruptedGem Mystra prayed on my downfall and ended my first Honor run.

SPOILERS FROM START TO FINISH, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT BEATEN THE GAME AT LEAST ONCE.
30 hours into my very first PERFECT Honor mode playthrough, decently into act 2 after completely clearing Act 1 with zero knowledge about "legendary resistance" (or whatever that mechanic is) i Died...
and i mean perfect, I Saved Minthara in act 2 without destroying grove, Saved Alfira from Dark Urge death, stole Raphaels OP armor in act 1, got the Zaithisk Buff, auntie ethel boon, Literally perfect Run, only to die to Netherese Orb in camp. 🙃
Excuse the future gramatical errors as my mind is so Shook right now (for lack of better word) as this JUST happened.
(Skip to the last run on sentence to skip the strategy/build setup)
the strat that was working for me was to ideally to solve 2 issues, 1. reduce the time i had to long rest to (2) reduce the need to eat, i solved both issues early on. (80 food count per long rest seemed insane until i got the strat down)
so i had myself set as a Dark Urge Githyanki Dex reverberation dual wielding Bard. (githyanki astral knowledge with bard persuasion easily hit every convo dice roll plus extra short rests)
I used Phalar Aluve dual wielded with blood of lathander with boots of stormy Clamour (amazing synergy i found by accident) as the boots apply reverberation whenever you applied a condition which lowered Strength, Dex, and constitution save throws by 1 per stack, Shriek from Phalar counted as a condition and so did the aoe light from lathander (2 free stacks) plus the added bonus of shriek making all attacks deal extra damage, i also had a circlet from the gith Creche final fight that gave Arcane Synergy everytime you applied reverberation (increased weapon damage) good synergy etc, etc.
I had Astarion as a ranger fighter archer fully stacked by act 2. (mostly ranger but with action surge) using Ritual Dagger (steal it in act 1 from Abdurak, absolutely amazing weapon) it gives a special ability called Blood Sacrifice where you can basically Bless yourself 1d-4 PER ROUND, no concentration, (No cooldown) for a bonus action, i would use the ability at the start of the round then go to town with archery, 4 hits at the start of the round with action surge, i also had gear that increased his range damage and used the Bow of the Banshee to pretty much fear every target.
(Absolutely recommend Ritual Dagger for spellcasters or archers, the 1d-4 really helps with everything including dice rolls)
My third companion was interchangable for quest purposes like Gith creche, temple of shar etc, but was mainly (fighter lae'zel) or Shadowheart (switched to light cleric with abilities that helped with saving throws for checks for Act 2)
The Problem was my Fourth companion Gale. I admittedly have an unhealthy obsession with Gale since he was the first romance of my very first run, going into the game with 0 knowledge he won me over everyone else. (Minthara would have won had i known she was a possible companion and not unknowingly killed her 😅) but i digress. So for my first Honor mode run ever i of course had to keep my favorite in the party at all time so i made him respec to my druid Healer.
Druid healer fit into my plans all because of Goodberry (this is where the issue comes in) i had never used Goodberry before this run but i found out that you could use the actual berries as camp supplies (goated level 1 spell fyi) so land Druid healer made sense, every long rest i used all my remaining spell slots and spell slot recoveries to spam goodberry to significantly reduce the amount of camp supplies i used per night (the night i died i had over 1k camp supplies) So with these 2 classes (bard and druid) i Solved my main issue, rest and food.
So how did i die? I was lowkey (highkey) leading Astarion and Lae'zel on but i didn't want to just end it with Astarion by getting with Gale cause the dialogue where he puts himself down as if him being left was inevitable is kinda heartbreaking; so immediately after entering act 2, knowing Gale would hit on me after the first battle, i killed (bombed🤡) the Drider, stole his moonlantern, and rushed to moonrise for the Blood trader dialogue which allows you the dialogue to become friends with Astarion instead of lovers which was all apart of ((My Design..)) become friends with Astarion and Shadowheart (maybe skip Raphael and let Orpheus die if i was chicken), Wyll and Karlach to avernus, Lae'zel the Githyanki egg ending, and i planned to Ascend Gale to Godhood (honor mode was hard work, i deserved that) So immediately after finishing the Blood vendors dialogue i went to camp to long rest, spamming goodberry on Gale but when i instinctually went to use natural recovery, the spot was replaced with a new Wheel with 1 single ability in the same location.
Trigger netherese Explosion 🙃🤡🙃🤡🙃
i went from Elminster straight to moonrise, then to camp in under 30 minutes, forgetting i was given that ability and it replaced the spot of my muscle memory, killing my entire party and ending the run (why isn't there a confirmation for that)
Anyone else got any good early game builds or strats to try? Im gonna try again eventually but i'm honestly drained after that heartbreaking experience now...

2024.06.02 06:32 Leoninz Where does all of Bruce's money come from and how much does he have?

TL:DR Given everything Bruce pays for or likely pays for such as the Batfamily gear and the Justice League, how does he pay for it all without losing all his money?
Had some random conversations with someone and this came up. It's a bit ridiculous when you think about it. Let's list everything that he likely pays for or we know he pays for.
• Batfamily superhero/vigilante gear, both first purchase and upkeep/replacements: armosuits, batarangs, grappling hooks, the many other gadgets, the Batmobile, the Batplane, etc
• Medical supplies
• Allowances for his kids/wards
• Various charities, scholarships, orphanages, and the like
• all of the salaries for his employees
• repairing damage done by his rogues gallery to both the City itself and the people in it
• the Watchtower
• the Justice League in general
• the galas and other parties he hosts
Seriously, given all of this, where does he get the money? Cause there is no way that I can see that he has this much money even with both inheriting money and having a highly successful company. I know this is comics so we just accept various things as part of fiction and move on, but I felt like asking regardless. Mainly to get it out of my head.
Thoughts?

2024.06.02 06:29 TheTightestClench Budget of $1200 for 20km/day mixed path, road, hard gravel and road works areas

Hi all
I posted yesterday regarding a cube Hyde hybrid but on reflection I think it's wiser to increase my budget a little seeing as though this will be a bike I will use to commute to work and back daily, weather permitting
My cycle to work for the most part would be cycling path along the train line however there is lots of upgrades to the stations along the line occurring meaning lots of the paths are diverted to road and/or gravel temporary paths until the stations are up and running again. Works are expected to be ongoing for at least a year
The ride is mostly flat with some hills. The commute is about 10km each way
I want something relatively comfy that can also take the hard gravel/dirt too
Any suggestions?
So far I've considered the trek dual sport, specialised sirrus x and polygon heist. I'm after a size medium so stock availability is also an important factor (Perth WA based)
Thank you in advance for any help!

2024.06.02 06:17 Neat_Finger_6415 14 reasons for reasonable doubt so far

I came into this trial as a blank slate. From the very little that I did know, the prosecution theory that an angry, drunken girlfriend killed her man with a car seemed plausible and the police conspiracy theory seemed, on the surface, to be unhinged.
But in the past five weeks, the prosecution has yet to provide any solid evidence Karen Read committed second-degree murder. Moreover, witness after witness is getting crushed on cross-examination. I've never seen a trial where so many prosecution witnesses appear to be lying or less than credible.
I'm still not sold on the conspiracy theory. But the amount of reasonable doubt so far is off the charts.
Here's my tally:
  1. Karen's so-called "confession" of "I hit him, I hit him, I hit him" is on shaky ground. Multiple people have said they heard it, but then it turns out that it's not in any of the initial reports, except for a statement from Katie McLaughlin. And turns out that McLaughlin is friends with Caitlyn Albert, who was part of the after-party at 34 Fairview.
  2. Even more damning, nobody at the scene acted like Karen was confessing. She wasn't immediately arrested or even questioned about what she was saying. That speaks volumes about the how seriously her statements were taken at first.
  3. The unbelievably sloppy investigation the morning of Jan. 29 -- collecting blood in Solo cups; the snowblower; not questioning Read about her statements that she might have hit him; no search of the house; no attempt to separate witnesses during the initial police interviews; abandoning the crime scene early on.
  4. I need to hear more about the injuries, but so far, it's hard to square JO's injuries with getting hit by a car. Also, the missing hat, belt and shoe are just weird.
  5. The expert who testified about the lack of dog DNA seemed credible. But her tests relied on swabs supplied long after the event by the State Police. And based on this investigation so fair, I have no faith in the validity of those swabs.
  6. Likewise, the expert on the blood-alcohol data seemed very knowledgeable. But his calculations all hinge on the supposition that Karen Read had her last drink at 12:45 p.m. Everybody else was still drinking after that; why wouldn't we assume she just went home and went to sleep? Right now, I have no faith in the blood-alcohol numbers.
  7. All the personal links between the witnesses and the investigators, and the attempts to downplay them. As an example, Katie McLaughlin could have just acknowledged her friendship with Caitlin Albert upfront. Instead, it was "I knew someone by that name in high school." Her response was just so ... sus.
  8. Testimony vs. the electronic record. The butt dials. The 2:27 a.m. Internet search that was deleted. The phones that were ditched just before a preservation order. The Life 360 data. The Canton PD key data. It's just astonishing to see witnesses deny the electronic records, and crazy that the prosecution case steamed ahead despite all these red flags. I really don't know if there was a conspiracy, but it's clear some of these folks are hiding SOMETHING.
  9. Nobody seeing the JO's body in the yard. It's easy for me to understand how some people could have missed it. But everybody who must have walked by it that night? Makes no sense.
  10. The fact Brian and Nicole Albert stayed in their house that morning. And it's hard to believe that Jen McCabe was the one to wake them up. Talk about the Case of the Dog That Didn't Bark! Not to mention Jen's two "butt dial" calls to Nicole.
  11. Karen's hysterical reaction that morning does not appear to be that of a woman who intentionally killed her boyfriend.
  12. The texting with Higgins made, in my eyes, Higgins more of a suspect than Karen. If she already had one foot out the door, what would be the need to kill JO? They weren't married. She was ambivalent about the parenting responsibilities. She had her own home, her own income. Even if the relationship was about to end, it's hard to understand a motivation for murder.
  13. The issues around the broken taillight. So nobody saw ANY of those 40-some pieces of red plastic on the morning of Jan. 29, even though several cops were looking for evidence? Does that make sense?
  14. I'm assuming that both sides will bring in experts to debate the 2:27 Google search for "hos long to die in the cold." But if it's just a case of dueling experts and everybody is left not knowing the truth, that's reasonable doubt.
That's what I have so far and we haven't even gotten to the issues involving Proctor and what appears to be missing video at crucial times and places.
Frankly, the defense doesn't have to convince the jury of their conspiracy theory. They just have to sow that reasonable doubt. And if people are left totally confused about how JO died, than Karen Read will be acquitted.

2024.06.02 06:03 big_toe_788 I'm not sure if I love my special needs brother anymore

Hey guys. I (16F) have a brother (13M) who was diagnosed with autism when he was a toddler.
I want to start off this post by saying that I'm not mad at him for being autistic, nor do I hate him. But I'm not sure if I can say that I love him right now.
I feel like certain elements of my childhood have been robbed due to having a special needs sibling. I understand there are people that have it worse than me and I also understand that my parents are doing their best to keep both me and my brother happy, but I can't help but resent my brother right now. There were certain things our family couldn't do when I was a kid such as amusement parks, long vacations, sports games, certain restaurants, etc. Those were simply a no-go due to my brother's autism. There were also times where I was having fun but we had to leave early because my brother was overwhelmed by the noise. I understand that's not his fault, but as a kid, I didn't really understand, so I would get mad at him for that
But now, our issues run deeper than having to leave a birthday party early. My brother has turned very manipulative and my mom keeps falling for it. For example, I got my drivers license earlier today and to celebrate my family and I were going to go to one of my favorite restaurants. That was until my brother threw a huge tantrum over having to put away his own damn laundry, which pissed my mom off, which eventually led to her yelling at ME and calling ME lazy, and our dinner outing was cancelled because my mom was in a bad mood and we couldn't trust my brother to behave. But here's the thing, whenever the day isn't about him, he gets like this. He threw a tantrum on my 16th birthday, so instead of having a good birthday, I spent the day feeling sad and angry. He also did this when I won an award for my 100+ hours of volunteering. He threw a tantrum, so on a day where I was supposed to be happy and proud of myself, I ended up feeling sad and angry. He's also done this on my 15th birthday, my dad's birthday, and pretty much any day that's not about him. At this point, I truly think he is doing it on purpose to take the attention away from me (or anyone that's not him) and on to him.
Not to mention, his tantrums are super manipulative. Whenever he gets in trouble for doing certain things such as talking back to my mom or dad, instead of accepting the consequences like a normal person, he says horrible things such as "I am the worst person ever" and sometimes he even threatens to kill himself. I know he doesn't truly think this way and I know he is only saying these things to make my parents feel bad for punishing him. It's gotten to the point where he gets away with doing and saying certain things that I would have never gotten away with simply because my parents are too tired to deal with his manipulative antics.
Which brings me to my next point. I can't even go a day without getting yelled at by my brother. If I even commit the horrible act of walking in the same room he's in. Whenever I do, I either get yelled at, or he looks at me with pure hatred in his eyes. I understand that sibling rivalry is a thing, but this is deeper than that. I truly believe he has a deep hate for me. For example, a few weeks ago, I asked him if he wanted to get food with me, and I got yelled at by him. I have to pretend it doesn't hurt, but it does. It hurts me a lot. It also hurts seing my friends and their siblings getting along so well, knowing that will never be me and my brother. But yet, here I am, hoping, like some sort of idiot.
Furthermore, he also throws these tantrums in public. A few months ago, I was downtown with my mom and my brother after doctors appointments, and we were going to grab lunch, but my brother started throwing one of his tantrums that led to him loudly crying like damn toddler in public. What makes it worse, there were people from my school who saw what was happening and were staring at us. As you could guess, we didn't get to go out for lunch. I just wanted to go home and bury myself in my room and never show my face at school again.
But the thing that truly hurts the most is that we used to have a good relationship. We used to play together, watch moves and TV together, go on bike rides together, and do normal sibling things with the occasional fights. We truly loved each other like normal siblings, but now whenever we're in the same room there's nothing but tension. I used to let it slide because I know that middle school and teenage years are rough, especially for an autistic person, but this has gone on for way too long. Whatt what I neglected to mention earlier, was that I also have mild autism myself. So I truly try to empathize with him and put myself in his shoes, but it's hard to do that when you're constantly being yelled at for everything you do and constantly being manipulated or watching your parents get manipulated.
I feel horrible for saying I don't love my brother, especially considering I used to have nothing but love for him and I also feel like I'm a horrible and impatient person, but I truly don't know what to do anymore. This is more than just "teen angst" this is pure hatred and manipulation.

2024.06.02 05:57 Objective-Tale-8069 Bachelorette trip with my girlfriends had some drama. My one gf (34F) aired out everything to my other girlfriends that I (34F) said to her during an emotional vent. I don’t know what to think of my friendshipS now.

I (34F) recently had my bachelorette trip away. I've been looking forward to My maid of honour (34F) knew that I wanted a warm and sunny bachelorette. She had my list of friends I wanted to come and those were my only real requests.
She procrastinated planning it for quite some time (months) and then finally had it planned for May of this year. She said I didn't need my passport which was disappointing because I had mentioned I wanted to go somewhere out of country. We live in Canada and it's not warm and sunny here until late June/early July.
I had to pack everything from rain gear, fancy outfits, athletic wear and multiple shoe options. No bikini.
The first stop of the trip was at a lake hike. Within a few minutes of beginning our hike, the path turned in to complete coverage of ice and snow. Slippery and cold. I have knee issues (previous major knee reconstructive surgery) and I can't walk on any kind of slippery surface like that. Within a few minutes I had to call it quits. Everyone else looked so disappointed. Me, being the people pleaser that I am said for them to continue the hike if anyone wanted to. I would head down to the lake. My MOH asked me a few times if I was sure... and I said yes because 1- I didn't want to ruin the moment and 2- I felt bad. Looking back on this now I wish I wasn't put in this position to begin with being the bride. If it was someone else's party no big deal. But this is supposed to be for me.
I kept a positive attitude and made the best of it. We carried on to the house. The girls made it so special and great. I was settled in and having the best time!
The next day we had a fun activity planned that's been on my bucket list so I was looking forward to it!
After halfway through our activity my Mom and Aunty surprised me. My MOH had coordinated this surprise and it was quite sweet. I was a bit thrown off though because I definitely made a point to say that I only wanted it to be my girlfriends...
All was good. We carried along and had fun. The girls and I went for appies and drinks and then we went back to the house to meet up with my Mom and Aunt. Everyone was having drinks and getting in the fun mood to go out.
My MOH also made a few remarks over the weekend about my other girlfriends that didn't sit the best with me and weren't necessary to say to me. Things like "I didn't realize your friendship was like that with so and so" or "why do they other girls not wait for us like we should all be together". We had two separate vehicles so there wasnt complete being in sync every minute. Which I wasn't super bothered by. My MOH also buddied up to one friend (34F) the whole weekend and I felt like they were kind of in there own bubble the whole time which was a bit annoying.
That night we all went out. My Mom ended up getting way too drunk and kind of ruined the mood of us at the bar hop. I was upset and my friends tried to lift me up but I was also stewing inside because I didn't have my Mom on the list.
We ended up going home late and my one gf (34F) and I were walking a bit behind the group and once we caught up they all (including my MOH) were on bikes programming them. I asked if there were bikes for us and they said oh I guess not and kept programming there bikes. I was really upset. My feet were sore. My knee was hurting. I was super emotional about my Mom and her drunken state and now I was pissed because my friend and I had to walk back (20 minutes uphill in the cold windy weather).
I broke down on the walk back and cried. Saying I was so upset, who plans a bachelorette in May when it's cold and that I was pissed at everyone and that I had bitten my tongue a few times about a few different things. Clearly emotional and spouting off a bit more than I should have. We got back and I locked my door and went to bed. I knew I didn't want to talk to anyone and I was so upset I just wanted to sleep.
That night my gf (34F) who I walked home with and vented to, ended up telling my MOH and girlfriends everything I had said. I felt awful. I also felt really betrayed that she told everyone everything I said in that emotional moment... I feel like I can't trust her at all now. I apologized to all my girlfriends and explained why i was feeling ways that i was and all of them seemed to understand and accepted my apology and we moved forward. My MOH took it really personally, got defensive and became really emotional about it all.
I feel like I cant trust my one gf who aired it all out anymore and don't even want to say anything to her again.
I don't really know where to go from here right now. My MOH said she should've just let me plan my own trip. I thanked her for everything and explained why I felt a few certain ways but that so many aspects of the trip were amazing and that I was so grateful for everything. She kind of just pushed that away. She said she wants to just move forward and that our friendship foundation is strong... but I don't love how she became so defensive and disregarding of my feelings.
I'm in a great place with my Mom aunt and other girlfriends. We're all adults and we were able to talk about everything and move forward in a sincere way.
I feel really lost about my friendship with my MOH and the gf who aired it all out. These were the two who also buddied up to eachother the whole weekend quite obvious and exclusive.
TL;DR Bachelorette didn't go quite as smoothly as I hoped, I became emotional and friend vented out my feelings.

2024.06.02 05:32 That_Dragonfruit4753 I put way too much faith in people who aren’t myself and now I'm fucked

Sorry for the long post, I have a lot to get off my chest. Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I’ve spent the last 3.5 years living in a small, country town. The community itself is very conservative and VERY closed off. I have also spent that time hearing things like “there are no jobs here,” and “not everyone can fit in here.” Which turns out to be incredibly true. When I first moved here, I was recovering from a major injury and wasn’t looking for a job, because, at the time, I could barely walk. In the 2 years since I have been rehabbed, I have been applying EVERYWHERE. I have sent out countless resumes and applications (literally in the hundreds) and gotten very little feedback. In 2 years, I’ve been on maybe 12-15 interviews. Which is such a small number. While I have been looking for work, my close friend has been generous enough to let me stay in his den and asking that I only contribute where I can but that he really wanted me to find something, save up, and get back on my own 2 feet. I am eternally grateful to him and I’m not even sure there is actually an appropriate way to show him that, outside of doing exactly what he asked of me: to get on my feet and get my life back.

In September of last year, my friend and I had a conversation about timelines and he gave me until June 1st to get established at a job, save up for a deposit and move out of his house. Sounds fair, right? It definitely sounded fair to me. So, we shook on it and I promised him that I wouldn’t let him down. In October, he and I attended a party at his friends’ house. That’s where I met the brother of the party host. We hit it off immediately and spent the entire time talking, smoking and grabbing drinks for each other. We were having a blast until my friend that I live with tried to break things up between us. I assumed that he was just drunk and upset that I was intermingling with his best friends’ family, or maybe even that he might be salty that I was flirting with someone when that’s what he had set out to do for the night, but had come up short. Regardless, he made sure to tell me that he thought it was a bad idea and that, for him, it was a no with that. I chose to not head his warning and ended up dating that person ever since.

Most everything seemed ideal, except for the part where we lived over an hour from each other, and he was the only one of us with a vehicle. We had found ways to make arrangements and he drove out here when he could. During this time, I opened up to him about my situation. About how I was really worried about not being able to find a job here (he walked me through pep talks before interviews), what my deadline was, and how I was most worried about rehoming my cat in the event that I would be homeless. I stressed that I knew if it came to me being homeless, that it wouldn’t be for long and that I was praying that I could find someone I know to take care of my cat temporarily while I found something stable for us. He also opened up about the issues he was having with his jobs, his housing, his custody agreement with his ex-wife, and how he felt very alone and like no one was helping him out and he felt like he had to do everything on his own. We both expressed concern for each other’s situations and would be happy to help each other out if there was actually any way that we could.

Two and half months ago, I was staying with him for a few weeks. We spent as much time trying to help him out in his situation as we did just hanging out (when he wasn’t at work of course) and trying new things, seeing new sights, and doing what I could to lift him up when things were going badly (both his vehicles were impounded 2 months in a row and he was super broke because of it). I spent hours researching free furniture (he didn’t have a bed, couch or anything else for his house really), finding food pantries, churches in the area, and apps where he could find side jobs. I went and picked up free food, toiletries, dog supplies (he has a dog he neglects and didn’t have much for her until I came along) and resources. And he swore up and down how much he appreciated my help and everything that I had done for him in the short time I was there. And that’s when he asked me to move in with him. He said that I needed somewhere safe to go and he needed help around the house and that it sounded like something we could do together. I thought it sounded like a lot and that maybe we were moving too fast. And I told him that on SEVERAL occasions before he convinced me that we had a real connection and that it would be fine, we would both just have to commit to a plan and that I would need to get a job in the area so that he knew I could actually help out. Fair enough. It took me 2 weeks of applying and interviewing in that area before I found a job that was a short walk from his house. Something I hadn’t been used to in my area. I was so proud of myself and so happy to finally be on the right track to getting my life back together.

Until early last week. On my birthday. Which he definitely forgot (swears he didn’t even though he admitted it at some point). Two weeks before I was set up to move in, he blamed me for him forgetting my birthday (apparently, I should have texted him to remind him), told me that he believes that my friends taking me out for drinks for my birthday made me a manipulative, spoiled brat, and that even though I had been saying this since BEFORE I got a job near him, that he thought it was too fast. That he apparently only asked me to move in with him because he was drunk (he wasn’t, we had that conversation with our morning coffee). That he wanted me to be just his girlfriend and not his roommate (I was supposed to be occupying his spare room because even though we were dating, his 10-year-old still sleeps in his room instead of their own and I am childfree and have no interest sharing a bedroom with a tween). We had a plan. And I tried to bring all of this up with him over the course of 6 weeks we had spent planning my move TOGETHER. But at the end of the day, I have no one to blame but myself. I KNEW that I needed to focus on my own situation to make sure that I would be okay and have a soft spot for me and my kitty to land. I switched up my focus for someone who apparently didn’t even have the balls to tell me when he thought he’d made a mistake. He could have done that when I still had time. Instead, he gave me 2 weeks’ notice to find a new job and a new living situation for me and my cat, with not a fuck given about what would happen to either of us. And I let all of it happen. I am fully aware that I am the one responsible for the vast majority of the problems in my life. And while I know that it’s not my fault what others do, I know I should never have trusted him. And now I will have to live in a tent with my cat, that is, until I can find a way to get him to my cousins’ house where they’ll help me by taking over for him for a couple months. I had a place to go. I finally had a job that wasn’t under the table. I had finally trusted someone enough to be in a relationship after 5 years of being single for EXACTLY this reason. Because I can’t trust anyone. And mostly I can’t trust myself either. I’ve never felt so stupid in my entire life. And I have been through much worse with romantic partners. But the fact that I put so much trust and faith into someone at such a fragile time in my life….. That one’s on me. I should have known better. And now I don’t know if I’ll ever trust someone like that again. Worse yet, I don’t know if I trust myself either. I know I can do so much and live such an incredible life. But a part of me wonders if I’m not just an idiot who can’t get her life together because I choose to put my faith in others when I should have been putting it into me and only me. I’m pretty sure I’ve fucked up my whole life. And I’m the only one to blame.
