2024.05.28 20:12 One-Drama-5445 My mom is mad that I didn't make her a bowl of spaghetti

I 19F live with my mother 53F, Siblings 17F(Z) & 21F(C) and niece (5months). When my mother found out my sister C was pregnant she told her and her boyfriend to move in so they could be together and she could help them. A short while ago her bf left so now she has to find a job AND take care of an infant. As for Z they can't get a job because they have to focus on school until the summer. I have a lowpaying fast food job but they give me 4 hours a week. (We are all applying for jobs atm its just been slow) Between me and my siblings buying enough groceries to last us the week is almost impossible (sometimes C has to š›šØš«š«šØš° formula) . My mom stopped getting foodstamps because she got a pay bump that disqualifies her from government assistance (nurse/surgeon) and has only been grocery shopping maybe 3 times since(oct 23'). She also doesn't cook which doesn't matter to me and C bc we're more than happy to do so ourselves but what I do have a problem with is how much takeout she buys. Up until a month ago her job required her to fly out of state on weekdays and gave her $75 a day for food. When she came back on Fridays she'd sometimes buy us takeout but when I asked her to buy groceries she would ignore me. Recently she's had a personal vendetta against C for NO reason like it actually makes me rlly sad to see how hard my sister is trying and my mom always needs to bring her down about something. Shes especially been criticizing her cleaning even though theres nothing wrong. Actually she put the wrong chair at the table so I suppose in my moms mind that warrants her getting cursed out. Anyways the other day I asked my mom if she could pls buy groceries because there wasn't even meat in the fridge and she said "I'll buy groceries when you guys can keep the house clean" (mind you she came home the other day rearranged a few things then left the kitchen a mess). I know this is bs because of the fact that she hasnt bought groceries in months and also because the house IS clean but her excuse was that and im quoting her exactly because i got it on video "you're making more trash if you eat". That being said I bought a few groceries the other day because my dad sent me money. All I made was a pot of spaghetti but enough to last me and my siblings a day or 2. My mom (who had already bought herself food and eaten) then asks if I can make her a bowl. I say no then walk away before she can say anything. The next morning she asks "why didn't you make me a bowl of spaghetti last night" to which I answer "because you won't buy us groceries" I could've further explained that she already ate and the fact that I had to use what little money I had to buy ingredients but to her it must've just sounded like I was being spiteful. (maybe I was just a little but i had more valid reasons as to why I didnt want her eating our food) She then proceeds to start cursing and talking about how the food I made is making extra dishes in the sink and bugs are going to be all over them (which btw the bugs would hypothetically still be all over them whether or not i made her a bowl) but once again I walked away in the middle of her rambling. Now she won't talk to me and I sorta feel bad because she's my mom but at the same time what can I do ? I feel like she's purposely making things harder for us while we're struggling. I know we're adults but she has the means to help us and just won't.

2024.05.28 19:13 mr_mindboggler Which is a better option Credit Card, Debit Card and Forex Card for withdrawing cash in a European country?

Situation -
I am travelling to a European country. I have available with me - 1) HDFC DCB Metal CC, 2) ICICI Amazon Pay, 3) HDFC Milennia CC, and 4) HDFC Easyshop Platinum DC. I have not bought any Forex card yet but can buy 5) HDFC Multicurrency Forex Card, if needed.
I live in a tier-3 city and the bank branch doesn't have a forex exchange facility. I have to travel 6 hours to a nearby metro city otherwise to get cash.
My first preference is going to be paying through HDFC DCB Metal CC everywhere. If Diners is not accepted, then I would switch to HDFC Milennia. For cash, I am confused about how I should proceed.
Options -
(A) To the extent I understand, DCB gives 3.33% rewards on cash withdrawals too and I have GVP 1% cashback as well, so a total of 4.33% rewards. Meanwhile, charges would be 2.36% forex markup, 2.95% cash advance fee, maximum of 2% interest assuming I will pay within 1 month. So, net 0.98% - 2.98% charges.
(B) The HDFC Platinum DC will give 0.5% rewards and 3.5% forex charges. So net, 3% charges.
(C) Physical currency is already converted at about 2.60% higher rate than the rates charged for CC, DC or Forex Card.
(D) Niyo Global has zero markup fees but their currency exchange rate is higher than most banks and it seems like they cover the markup fees in their exchange rate itself.
Queries -
Q - Which is the best option in your experience and for my situation?
Q - What if I have an outstanding balance say 1,00,000 from other transactions and then I withdraw 20,000 cash, do I have to clear the entire 1,20,000 to avoid interest on the 20,000 cash advance? Or can I just pay 20,000 on the same day and avoid interest charges altogether?
Q - Are there any other ATM charges that are levied? I understand I should withdraw in local currency and say No to conversion, but I have heard there are ATM withdrawal charges as well levied by local banks.
Q - Is there any mistake in my calculations or other factors that I have not considered?
Q - Where do you usually withdraw the money from - ATM at Airports or ATM in the destination cities? Can I withdraw during layovers in airports like Jeddah or Abu Dabhi?

2024.05.28 19:07 Past_Jaguar5184 Should I go to Rad Tech school?

So Iā€™ve been debating about going to school for Rad Tech. I was first considering PTA as I was an aide for 6 months but I felt so burnt out from having to be constantly extroverted and bubbly which I can do to an extent but for that it feels like you have to be that way 24/7 which is hard for me. I like the idea of rad tech because of the quick interactions, good pay, and Iā€™ve always had an urge to be in healthcare. Iā€™ve read on here some people after a while felt kind of stagnant like the same day on repeat and like a ā€œbutton pusherā€ which scares me a little. But Iā€™ve heard of others who ended up cross training and liking a different modality better which is hopeful. Iā€™m also at a point where I need to go in some direction career wise and this seems like something I can mentally handle compared to PTA or nursing. But I canā€™t help but feel Iā€™m doing it for the paycheck which I donā€™t know how to feel about that atm. I also feel especially since Iā€™m 23 it can be something I can fall back onto if needed if I end up changing careers. Anyone in this career that can give some thoughts and advice?

2024.05.28 17:50 redjer12345 Too good to be true?

So I have a 1 yr and 3 months experience with Job X then suddenly I received a DM on LinkedIn from a recruitment person, she basically said that this company is looking a person for Job X and she highlighted the benefits and offer which it is a remote job being paid in dollars meaning it's from an international company. She also stated that it's gonna be a contractual-type of employment and she wanted to refer me to that company X. Also rin pala, she attached a pdf file where it contains the job responsibilities, requirements and details from the company. Natuwa rin ako na kahit 3 yr exp ung hanap nila and maraming reqs rin dun na wala sa current resumƩ ko, sinendan parin ako ng recommendation for the HR.
So ayown naoverwhelm ako about this since it's a significant jump from my current job with regards to pay and job responsibilities I think. I immediately said refer me then the following day, the HR from Company X sent me a DM also in LinkedIn asking when I will be available. Sinabi ko agad na available ako for the whole week despite na may work (Thankfully remote rin current work ko) then she sent me the meeting link for the interview. So ayun nakalagay na sa meeting link yung participants ng meeting and medj kinabahan ako kasi ung magiinterview sakin is from a director position. I read the job requirements from the PDF file and studied/prepare beforehand para ready. After the interview, I think nasagot ko naman lahat pero di ako confident, thought to myself na I could've answered the questions better, I was kinda frustrated that I didn't give a good answer to some of the questions despite it being a perfect question for me. I had low expectations na about this but I'm glad I tried.
After several weeks, I got an email then medj kinabahan since nakalagay sa subject na it's from company X so binasa ko siya agad. Pagkabasa ko ng first paragraph from the email nakalagay is "We're full atm at this position" so I was thinking to myself- "Ah, it's a rejection email" then I read the 2n d paragraph, may "BUT" stating that the interviewer was impressed by me then they would like to include me to the next batch of hires at the end of June. Also saying rin pala na when rin ako available raw or if interested ako about this? So sinabi ko agad na yes, and once again sinabi ko free ako the whole week. So the next meeting is basically a catchup meeting from the HR meaning the HR explained the company process, how did they come up to include me to the next batch of hires, and if ano daw status ko sa current company ko and lastly if I'm entertaining interviews daw atm. Sabi ko, I'm in the last stages na with my current company and I'm currently entertaining interviews rin with other companies kahit wala naman hahaha. For context rin, they decided to expand for their X team and decided that I will be one of the first hires from my country. Also sinabi rin nila na I need to be patient daw for like 2 weeks daw kasi dun lang daw magkakaroon ng opening from the position for Job X, basically konting tiis nalang raw ako then magproceed na sila with the hiring process. The whole meeting/catchup was very wholesome and parang naassure narin kasi ako na I will get this job, I was very happy after the interview thinking I will get this job for the advancement of life in general.
Few weeks later, basically 18 days up to this day, wala parin akong nakuhang email from them, sa sobrang anxious ko, I sent an email to the recruitment person who referred me asking for an update about the application. Then wala paring reply....
Should I be worried that I possibly got ghosted or should I still be patient since these situations is clearly normal for hires?

2024.05.28 17:03 Ipvp4fun Need advice

Hello everyone.
Okay let me just jump into it. Every-time you ask for tips on how to study or blah blah blah about python, all people suggest is don't spend all day " studying ", instead actually try to create something.
And for us new guys it seems like the worst advise because we know nothing, but when u put it to thought Yes. That is the way to actually get the experience in this field.
So here are two things that I want to create~
A website or an app, where you can select different leagues (Football) and then it will show you the teams in that league. You can go through and pick a team, for e.g. Man-City. It will show you all the players the current manager etc. Then you can click on the player, and it shows it's Face obviously and, on the side, it brings the players stats... (such as- goals this season, total goals trophies transfer news etc.)
And a similar website (not an app for this) that shows you how the news impacted the charts (on forex) such as Trump had a stand and USD dropped in value. So, it will show how it affected each chart, and the " candlesticks " that appeared on the news.
Anyways, no point diving TOO deep into details about these.
But as I said I'm a new guy, yeah, I've finished a few courses created super simple stuff, but I have 0 idea how to create these ideas that I brought forth.
What would you say I do now? How to proceed in creating these, because all people say is create create create.
I'm super desperate for money right now, I have the whole summer ahead of me, and I've been studying for the past 2 weeks and know the simple stuff about python, even starter OOP, have a tiny idea about classes and some other guys alongside that lane (don't remember names atm). As you know, nothing will stop a desperate person. So, Like I really need a roadmap, something I can do; to start creating so I can gather enough "experience" or something so I can have enough knowledge to apply for a job.
Kindly advise,
Thank you!

2024.05.28 16:29 Rudeass_titties WV DUI living in PA. A little confused here.

Some background. I lived in PA until 2012 when I moved to WV. After living in WV with a PA DL for a year I got a WV DL. In 2017 I got a DUI and my WV license was suspended. I no longer have a vehicle and have not driven since. In 2020 I moved back to PA. My wife and I have found public transport to be reliable but were increasingly in need of an actual car to run errands so I set about trying to find out what I needed to restore my dl.
I contacted WV DMV, got the total for my fines including reinstatement fee. All of my fine in WV are paid off. I was told by them that I would need to take dui classes in PA and have an ignition interlock even though I do not own a car atm and it would be a PA license.
This past Friday I call Penndot after a year of trying to make sure I get all of my ducks in a row. The person I spoke with at Penndot put me in for a shock. I have no restrictions on my license in PA. All they could do was that my PA license is expired and I would need to renew. I asked how certain she was and she sounded very sure and I could do the renewal online at Pa.dmv.gov
To my surprise it seems to have gone through and now I have a temporary license until the physical one shows up in the mail.
Iā€™m still bracing myself to be let down somehow and find that I was misinformed but so far it seems to be otw. Iā€™m confused as to how all of this was possible but the way she explained it and I understood is that because my Pa license was expired and my dui was out of state and my suspension in WV is over I donā€™t need to jump through WVā€™s hoops. Is there something Iā€™m missing here?

2024.05.28 16:01 AlienMissy483 Found out I have cancer

Yesterday I found I have colon cancer. I still have to another exam or something and a CT and possibly an MRI to see if it has spread to other parts of my body. The doctor said that if it hasn't spread then they'll remove my colon and I should be perfectly healthy afterwards (well, healthy cancer-wise, I'd still be chronically ill). And ofc it's great if they just need to do one surgery and then I'm healthy, but I just feel... weird. I have chronic pain in my entire body, so I've never noticed any possible new symptoms, because it just feels like how it always feels. I know I have cancer, but since I don't feel any different it's like my mind is refusing to believe that I actually have cancer. But at the same time it also feels like I knew it all along. I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago because my hemoglobin something was so low that I needed a blood transfusion (which we just caught on a bloodtest because I randomly decided to ask my GP for an allergy test, since I haven't done one in years. If not for that test it could've been another 6 months before we found out any of this bc I do bloodtests once a year, just to check that everything is okay). After the bloodtransfusion the doctor had referred me to both gastro and the blood and cancer illness department (or something like that), and she immediately told me that I shouldn't be worried just because the department has the word cancer in its name, because it's very likely that I just have some sort of infection. But of course, my anxiety immediately spiraled and started assuming the worst, So when I was told it's cancer it felt kinda like I already knew that it was gonna be that. I did cry a bit yesterday, after getting the news, but not much tbh. I cried a lot more when my at the time 86 year old grandma got 2 different types of cancers (including colon cancer) back in 2016. It kinda feels like my mind has just gone numb to protect me from feeling the feels? I'm not sure if that makes sense.. feels kinda like how the mind will protect you against feeling pain after a car accident by giving you lots of adrenaline, except it's "just" with feelings. I hope that makes sense x)
I'm not really sure exactly what I'm looking for, if I'm looking for any advice or not. Atm I don't really have any questions or anything. I think I just needed to say it to someone who might understand how I feel atm, since I don't know anyone who has cancer. The one person I'd LOVE to talk with right now, who had cancer several times in her life (my grandma), died in 2020. No one else in my close/immediate family has ever had cancer, nor has any of my friends, so I guess that maybe I just needed to vent somewhere Where someone might understand exactly what I'm feeling/going through right now.

how can i fix this bumper??
hi yall, this is my first time posting here (i hope in in the right group) iā€™ve got a 2010 hyundai sonata here that my mom drove into an atm..i know. the bumper cover (?) is now looking like this after, i donā€™t know much about cars but i know the repair for this at a shop can get pricey, and i want to try and fix it myself, which from what ive seen shouldnā€™t be too difficult of a process. but can anyone give some advice on what i would need to do based on the pics i attached of this mess? ps i know some pieces have been broken off, but i do still have them in case i can somehow reattach them.

2024.05.28 14:04 Rich_Flatworm6362 19f and I really want a child

Hi reddit! Im looking for advice over here because I feel unsure how to move on witg my life rn. Im not suicidal, but I feel like my life is pointless atm (schools unfulfilling, relationships unfulfilling, etc.) and I want some advice that may help me snap out of this baby fever haze. I can say that ever since I was pretty young Ive wanted to be a mother, Im talking ever since I could choose a profession in elementary I said I wanted to be a mother. The temptation to become a teen mom in highschool was really bad, but I was jumping bf to bf and had no real job. My child development class only made my then baby fever worse, because understanding more about them made me want them more, even the robot baby couldnt stop me as I was obsessed with her (absolutely 0 issues taking care of her, it was a joy). Now Im 19 and I still feel that hole in my heart to want a child, it is terrible! I constantly find myself smiling at little kids (cheesy ik) and wanting to care for a little creature that came from me. I always feel like its basically a missing part of me and I feel really stuck. Heres my dilemma: I really REALLY want children. Ive cared for children before and I can say that I absolutely enjoy every part of it, from the vomitting and pooping to watching them reach new milestones, every part of having a child to me sounds absolutely beautiful and it feels like I will have an actual purpose in life. I am currently studying in college and working, so I wouldnt say my schedule is too forgiving, but if there is one thing I cant handle it is coming home to my baby after a long day. Maybe its my mental issues talking here, but I feel the need to care for a child of my own and takibg care of pets (of which I have many) doesnt feel as fufilling. Ig my question to parents here is what made you decide to have children whenever you had them? alternatively im curious if anyone has any opinions on my stance atm (whether or not id be ready) because Im always told im too young but I see no other purpose in my life. Ill answer questions and respond to comments as they come!

2024.05.28 13:30 Yeetedoffahorse Need some advice

Need some advice
I was given an Aphonopelma chalcodes yesterday, and was told he's a mature male and probably wouldn't live much longer. I posted on here once I'd got him home, looking for some advice re mature males, and roughly how long they live once they've hooked out. Thing is, I don't see any tibial hooks or emboli (not sure if that's the right word?) on the pedipalps, however he is very thin, abdomen is really small, and seems quite lethargic. I offered him a locust, but he just threat posed, I'm gonna assume it's probably too soon to offer him food anyway, seeing as I only got him yesterday, but he's so thin, I felt I needed to try. He has a water dish, and there's a little dirt in it today, so he's definitely been near it, though I don't know if he's actually drank any. Just need some advice on what to do for this guy, I want the best for him, even if he won't be with me very long.
I should add, the enclosure he's in is only temporary, as I wasn't expecting another T lol I've ordered a bigger, glass enclosure for him, which should be here by the weekend. The acrylic one is just a spare I had sitting empty, so popped him in there just for the time being. I've also got sand ordered as well, as someone mentioned to me that they're natural habitat is desert, so sand would be better? I was thinking I would maybe mix it with the soil substrate I usually use?
Any advice to help this dude would be much appreciated šŸ•·ļøā¤ļø
Not the best pic of him, I know, but the only one I have atm

2024.05.28 12:00 throwRA-eifn Something went on between my (F32) husband (M32) and my sister (F26). What do I do?

My heads a mess atm so please excuse me if Im all over the place.
Yesterday morning my husband quickly got a bag ready without me seeing, came to me and told me my sister sucked his dick, and that he thought it would be best if he left for awhile and gave me space.
That was it.
Ive pretty much been left in the dark since. He seemed very stressed and upset. I just stood there a little dumbfounded.
My sister has been going through a very hard time the last few weeks and has spent a lot of time at ours, initially with her partner but around a week ago they started having issues so she just came and unloaded their problems. She came over Sunday night and ended up staying over. But I didnt notice them slipping away together at any time.
So far the only communication Ive had with my husband has been about our child. Ive asked him over and over whats going on and all he tells me is he is still trying to figure it out. What is there to figure out?
I cant believe that just like that everything I know is in tatters. Everything weve built together, everything we have, hes choosen to throw it all away. And to just tell me like that and leave, Iā€™m totally heartbroken. I never in a million years saw this coming. I also thought me and my sister had a stronger relationship aswell, the betrayal from her has me feeling so lost right now.
Ive seen many a horror story on here with infidelity and stupidly now Iā€™m in this situation I have absolutely no idea where I go from here? I know everyone will tell me to leave him, but its more complicated when theres kids/houses/a business involved. And I dont even know whats went on, no one will talk to me. The mental pictures are driving me insane.
Im not ready to talk to friends or family yet so Iā€™m asking reddit, wtf do I do? Restarting life at 32 sounds like a nightmare.
****Edit: Many people suggesting I move money/ restrict accounts. In a pathetic move I text him again to ask whats going on and to please talk to me before I contact lawyers and secure my accounts, thinking this would get a reaction.
He replied simply saying do what I need to do and that he can come back tonight to explain what happened.
Depending on how this goes I may or may not make an update post.
I just dont get why Im getting the runaround.

2024.05.28 11:42 yourharambae for people who didnā€™t (or wonā€™t) marry in their 20ā€™s.

i am in my late 20s, lead quite an independent life. my parents however donā€™t seem too fond of the idea. they donā€™t press me generally but when they get external pressure, i am the one to suffer. Personally, i feel like i am still not mentally where i need to be in order to be married. i am a far different person from who i was 2 years ago? my rationality evolves everyday and i learn a new thing about myself every other week. scientifically speaking as well, the frontal lobe of the human brain doesnā€™t completely evolve till the age of 25 - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3621648/ & i am only two years out of that. so the question i am posing is if you decided to not marry in your 20s, how are things now? fish in the sea any good? are you happy of your decision or not? i am more than happy focusing on family, myself & my career atm but is it worth losing this time that i have as my mom always says? And since I am a woman. comments from women would be very very insightful.

2024.05.28 11:31 VariousCampaign5721 Adding a battery to a lowly 2kW setup (upgrade panels also?)

Hi all, looking for some advice and have a load of general questions.
Considering I already have a 2kW solar setup the bills are not THAT bad - elec is like Ā£60-120pm depending on time of year so a long payback period but hoping for a cheap deal due to having an existing system (cheaper install?) and doing my bit for the environment.
Roof and panels: https://imgur.com/h5h6ph9
Inverter: https://imgur.com/LAC8zlY
My consumption (Jan 2024) https://imgur.com/ziv4Apx
Questions:
  1. Is it a good idea to get new panels to make the entire lot VAT free and simply double the system capability too?
  2. How big should I go battery wise? Do you size for winter days or general days?
  3. Will my inverter size dictate both how much I can take from the panels and also how much the battery can give back to the house? Bigger the better like 5kW?
  4. Is it likely the labour costs for my install will be much lower given things like the panels are going to be swap-in swap-out and there is already solar?
  5. Do batteries go near the solar system or near the fuse board? I ask because all of the solar equipment is in the roof area anad the fuse board on the ground floor (4 floors)
  6. It seems Sunsynk, Givenergy and Fogstar seem to be the ones everyone talks about. With Fogstar being hard to source installers atm. Any others?
  7. Is replacing panels the same physical size literally a straight swap or are there other things to consider?
  8. Anyone recommend good, decent, London installers?
Thanks for all the help!

2024.05.28 11:06 TransportationShot56 Meso Cap & Future of MSEA

DISCLAIMER: I am no insider, just an old mapler that enjoys the game. Take the following with a grain of salt if you will. . . Ok, I believe it's common knowledge that Msea is implementing Meso Cap starting Dreamer patch, without meso cubes. which i dont think is a bad idea considering that the system is a huge meso sink, and we still need to make P2W feel like P2W (people willing to spend for cubes will progress faster). Also if they implement meso cube, RMT will become even more of a problem. . . Over the week, a fair amount of attention is gathered from both P2w and F2p players, for many reasons, including the flourishing RMT scene. TLDR: Casual F2P unaffected, Hardcore F2P affected slightly but compensated by new content. RMT P2W affected, Non-RMT P2W not so much. My take on the matter, and how it will affect the direction of the game . . Here are some main takeaways regarding meso cap: 1. This update affects an incredibly small part of the f2p population(those who spend all day playing the game) and let's be real here, people who refuse to spend a single dime does not impact the future of the game that much. Also, amidst the changes, I'd argue that the high mountain content is a great compensation for this progression loss. Sure you will have less Meso, but you can spend meso for Maple Points, and get loads of guaranteed gains from the EXP and Sol Erda Frags. in early stages of the change, it might be too expensive meso-wise to convert, but as meso value goes up, it will be more viable as we will only need more fragments as we unlock more of our HEXA matrix. . . 2. I'd like to argue(as someone who played maple for more than 1.5 decade), this game's f2p event rewards have gotten so much better! Which I appreciate. So if you're a casual f2p Player, this change has nothing to do with y'all, enjoy the ride. . . 3. Many so called p2w players are not exactly p2w. They mainly fund their characters through Real Money Transactions, which are 3rd party, and is against the Terms of Service if you didn't know... Well sadly a large population of the maplers do this, which I understand, because they're basically spending to save time. Spending more = less grinding which is fair, if you do it "LEGALLY"..... These people are the main voice against the meso cap update for obvious reasons. They are nervous that the change will make it more expensive to progress the game through rmt, simple. Edited: it is also worth mentioning that rmt will take out some of the RNG of the game. Which appeals to many people. . . 4. RMT players are also the reason why most(not all) botters exist. Main botting scene consists of suppliers for in game resources, you guessed it, mesos to provide to players via rmt. . . 5. There are also some RMT suppliers contribute to the longevity of the game. which honestly speaking, they are the backbones of MapleSEA. Let's just say that at this point of time, they are the ones keeping MapleSEA alive (in my humble opinion). These people, would spend so much in the game, not to fund their own characters (well sometimes they do), but to make end game items and supply them to RMT players. Although RMT is still against the ToS, Asiasoft cannot afford to lose these cash cows atm. Which is why they have decided to not take action against these people. As well as their customers (RMT players) . . 6. And then we have some Whales playing the game, which they would P2W according to the ToS of MapleSEA, contributing lots of income to MapleSEA but usually not as much as the RMT merchants. Though nowadays many has succumbed to botting as well due to peer pressure, and the convenience of it being available widely. . . Personally, I'm not against the idea of spending foin games. Video games are products, most games nowadays you need to Pay to play anyways, either one time purchase or subscription/microtransaction basis, all are well received by the general public. It's only fair that we pay for our hobby. . . Businesses are mainly created to earn a profit, its not charity, nor is it rocket science. MMORPGs like MapleStory requires long term upkeeping and constant updates to keep it fresh and working for us players. Hence, profits are the main incentive for them to keep working on the game. By spending on RMT instead of supporting the game directly, their income will be siphoned, which has made MSEA so dependent on RMT suppliers, and have no choice but to surrender to them. . . With this change hitting soon, 1. we will inevitably lose some players, namely the RMT players, but not all. On an economics POV, as soon as the market stabilizes, RMT will still be a thing for the game in the long run, maybe not as effective and profitable. . . 2. Casual F2Ps will still be F2Ps, nothing changed here. . . 3. Hardcore F2Ps and non supplier botters will quit because they're losing their main way of progressing the game, with the latter being less noble than the former. But my argument with high mountain still stands. . . 4. Meso value will increase, Auction House prices will stabilize over time, making f2p even more viable than before. . . 5. P2W whales will keep on spending regardless. . . All in all, the change in my opinion is MSEA's attempt to reduce rmt, which would help to bring in more direct profits to the company, ultimately making them able to sustain themselves without relying on RMT suppliers. In addition to that, there will hopefully be a decrease in botters, therefore stabilizing the in game marketplace. . . In all honesty, the game will still be enjoyable if you like the game part of MSEA and not the Comparison(PVP) part of it. . . Side note: I still think that reboot is a good idea to convert many of the F2P interest groups into potential customers. And funnel in more light spenders into the game. Since I still believe we should pay for our hobby, Playing an MMORPG without contribution will not make the game last. If its anything like GMS, they consider reboot a subscription based game due to the fact that pets require monthly renewal, and it is the ultimate QoL for reboot servers. Even in most gacha games like genshin, star rail, subscriptions are a good source of income(assuming its not overpriced). It is stable, and most people would not mind to spend a little bit. Big spenders will still stay away from reboot due to the grindy nature, but f2ps might eventually spend for the QoL in reboot. . . Hope you find something useful from this long essay, and be informed of the impact of the coming changes. Stop mindlessly following trends and complain when it does not affect you. And stop complaining if you are not abiding the rules to begin with. I am of course human, and this is my OWN OPINION on the case, so anyone can disagree with my POV, its fine. Not here for a heated drama, but a calm discussion about the future of my favourite game. . . What are your thoughts on this? Share it with us if you don't mind will ya~

2024.05.28 07:33 zhuzhu09 I knew jp online systems were bad, but this one sent me to the moon

This is a rant, but Iā€™m not mad. I just found this hilarious and wanted to share so that you šŸ«µ can also have a laugh on this beautiful rainy Tuesday.
I filed a few application papers related to taxes online (namely, for a personal invoice number), through the online e-Tax system. It took me about 2-3 hours and tonnes of useless numbers and apps to connect it with my mynumbercard and get it to work. This is a whole other story of pain and distress, but I did it. I managed to use the website stuck in the 90s. I felt like I was on top of things and even dared to assume itā€™s not that bad.
3-4weeks later today, I got an email from the E-Tax system with the information regarding my tax number application. It did not say whether it was issued or not, just that there was an update about it. Want more info? Go to the website.
I wait to get back home to my pc, as I canā€™t log in without scanning my number card.
I get home, enthusiastically take my mynumbercard and scan the QR code to log in through the mynumber app on my phone, which then lets me scan the card, and then I finally access the websiteā€¦
ā€¦Which then shows me a list of my applications without any updates. Just says ā€œappliedā€ as was on day 1.
But the notification must be somewhere, right?
Knowing potential pitfalls of automated Japanese systems, such as small creatures inside ATMs who have to manually give you out cash and take days off during golden week, I figured that there must be similar ones here and they just forgot to ā€œautomaticallyā€ update my status.
Thus I went to the notification listā€¦
Which, alas, appeared to be empty as well.
I was about to give up on myself, but then noticed that there is a small field which allows you to choose a ā€œcategoryā€ of notifications to be shown in the notification list.
After choosing the category I needed, it appeared! The update message appeared!
I click on it, grabbing a piece of paper and a pen, greedily staring at the screen (just like Light when writing down the names of criminals he saw on the TV) ready to get my numberā€¦
And it redirects me to a notification that just shows my application date and content, and that there is an ā€œupdateā€.
But where? WHERE ON EARTH IS IT?
I was exhausted. Devastated. Infuriated.
And then I saw a small button at the bottom right of the page, which said ā€œgo to notifications regarding (this category)ā€.
I click there and heavens, I see the document attached to the notification box.
Never have I ever clicked ā€œdownloadā€ so fast in my lifeā€¦
ā€¦only to get an xml I couldnā€™t even open properly. No pdf available.
Ended up viewing the document with the number and hitting that good olā€™ snipping tool. (Right click print did not work).
All of that took me over 20 minutes. Just to download my online document.
In short, if you want to use eTax online system, beware.

2024.05.28 07:31 TheLordJames Stop Playing Armchair Detective

The amount of "X must be traumatized" or "Y needs to speak out" or "this joke might vaguely be an innuendo" or "if your mind is dirty enough this could be a penis" posts are weird.
It is not your right to state someone has been traumatized. That includes Amanda. If is not your right to tell someone else's story. It is not your right to speculate on who or who wasn't a victim. These are the victims right. It is also their right to remain silent.
Then there is the "This might be a sexual joke of you squint hard enough, notice the thing that was there for half a second, and have a dirty mind." No, ATM isn't a sexual acronym. The slime was green because of boogers, not because of green screen.
Then there is the obvious ones like Rugrats "this one is got Grandpa after you kids go to bed. Yes, kids cartoons has have had adult jokes that you didn't notice as a kid. Why? Because they were designed that way for your parents who back then, would watch with you instead of handing a toddler an iPad and calling it a day. Do you know why you didn't realize the joke was sexual until you were older? Because it was written well.
Stop trying to play armchair detective. You only hurt actual victims.
