Help!!
I've had persistent nausea since last year....it all started with abdominal cramps dull aching pain on left side lasting a week...had an endoscopy which showed gastritis Cut to Oct 2023 had violent coughing which would make me vomit...then it evolved into nausea! Tried omeprazole plus domperidon combo and it went away...it hit me again in Jan 2024 so went for another endoscopy which suggested mild reflux esophagitis And gastroduodenitis...doc just upped my dose of ppi Found temporary relief but flared up again so this time i changed doc...he ordered for a poop test for h pylori and it came back negative!!!!!now he just put me on amitryptaline and a prokinetic Although my symptoms have reduced but i still have no answers at all. I'm freaking out what if it is gastroparesis? I hope its not....my follow up is after 2 months Please help me calm my anxiety Edit: i wasn't on any ppi

2024.05.19 16:09 sholbyy I feel like I’m getting brushed off because I’m not in severe pain.

I have fairly constant URQ pain, though it’s not severe. It’s like a dull ache and it feels better when I apply heat. I had a HIDA scan last year that showed my gallbladder was slow, and they also said I had sludge and inflammation but no one seems to want to do anything about it because I’m not in extreme discomfort. I struggle with nausea and even dry heaves sometimes, always in the morning after I wake up and then it passes. I’m always bloated and gassy/burpy, and have heartburn. Occasionally I’ll have horrible diarrhea (TMI sorry) and I’m just freaking tired of this. I just want it out.

2024.05.19 15:28 cheesecup6 Are allergies really THIS bad? Are they extra severe this year for some? Or do I maybe actually have some cold or something?

So a lot of years I'll have maybe mild (occasionally worse) seasonal allergy symptoms at different points through the spring and/or summer. I haven't really pinned down what they come from. It seems this year allergies are definitely getting me, as I've had short (usually 1 or 2 days) spells of having symptoms for the past month and a half.
Suddenly though, this past week, I've been hit hard. One day last weekend I spent a lot of time outside in the yard. The next day, my head felt half stuffed up, half sniffly. I had a sore throat from post nasal drip, just felt weird in the head like allergies do to me. And surprisingly it hasn't gone away, only being helped a bit by the generic Allegra I take. It's just stayed so bad for a full week now, or has really gotten worse.
I've had some coughing, sometimes just a few coughs but as of the past 2 days or so, it's gotten to the point where my entire head, neck, and rib area ache every time I cough because I've been coughing so hard. Sorry to be gross, but I've been hacking up both clear and yellowish mucus. The past day or 2, my lungs feel irritated, slightly sore throat, headache, head just still feeling stuffed up + drippy, coughing fits throughout the day that just feel kinda worse that what I'd expect from allergies.
I'm just torn because I feel like I'm 99% sure this is allergies, but then I'm questioning. Maybe it's actually a cold or virus, since I was with someone who was sick like 2 weeks ago. But I've just felt like it's allergies, especially with how it's been dragging on.
Can allergies get this rough? Do allergies ever cause you to have coughing fits, like the type where you absolutely need to cough because your throat is itching so badly and you hack and make your head hurt? Or is this maybe something else? Also, are allergies really extra bad this year? Location is Midwest US

The day's simply pass by, there is little difference between them any more. Once, oh once there was pain, unbearable maddening and so endless sweet, for it was her, her who once loved me as only few ever could. At the beginning it was perhaps a little strange, but nothing that would have raised to many eyebrows, especially not with her. Then it changed, not quick as lightning from clear blue sky, but rather slow, like winters chill slowly draining plants of life. And with it came the pain, nothing that would leave permanent marks, but even that changed, slowly my back, arms and chest started to look as silver has her hair, they were not the angry red scars a sword might leave when it bites deep into flesh, they were the fine silver scars that only a razor, or equally narrow blades leave. Then there came to choking, for minutes i would be without breath, my body slowly loosing control, beginning to spasm beneath her hands, but she held me, held me tight with love so perfect that only she still saw it. She would never let go, so my bones ached as they tried to push against her body, trying to move, trying to breathe, to breathe, to breathe.
All this i tolerated without a word, not knowing how to approach the subject, but that is when i, no it's, not that i had enough, i still loved her deeply and without question, but i wasn't sure what was happening. So i talked to her, tried to at least, it was like she didn't even hear me, as if i never even asked, and perhaps i never did, perhaps i only sat there in silence. Only the dead gods know for certain.
And so it continued, pleasure being slowly replaced with agony, heated steel, spiked leather and things i will not mention became common place, but make not mistake to believe she drove me with whips like a slave, not to here it was most likely the purest form of love there could be. To her my pain must have looked like love, like joy or pleasure, but it was not. Still though all of this i held my mind firm, hoping, the fool i was, hoping for her to change, and how she changed, but not the way i hoped, no, my sweet Erato never became the way she was. With this i still held on, still, a foolish part of me hoping, if only i had known, then i would not held madness off that long. Slowly her love ground me away, like bone beneath a mill stone, a strange comparison as mill stones are from a time that lies so long past only the dead gods remember it. And like bones beneath a millstone my body broke, bones at first, an arm, a leg, more often ribs or my hip. So my mind was slowly ground away, like a statue that had not been cared for over millennia of rain. When she began to tear away flesh and muscle i was already numb to the pain, my body still screamed in agony, but my mind was still, it did not cry out any more. My body found pain so exquisite that to speak of it would be pure folly, as there are no words, in any language, meant to capture such agony.
And so the days flew by, in all fairness, i cannot say if days had past, time lost it's meaning to me, as what once was my body got ravaged, as limbs stood of in odd angles, or were torn away entirely, as needles, like the root of trees snaked throughout my body, as they burned. My body screamed, but my mind only wept. When this body became to broken for her to continue, she would call upon her surgeons, needs, appendixes and all other manner of medical, or tortuous devices righting this body where she broke it, grafting new limbs where old ones went missing.
i do not know what had happened, perhaps i could have done something, maybe i did not speak back then, dead gods now if it would have changed something. All this, it is long gone, she has not tired of this body, perhaps she never will, likely she still believes this to be love, still striving for perfection where not even madmen would seek it.
It is irrelevant, at least to that broken sliver of me that still remains, that still is not allowed to leave, that still hoped for her to change back, as if things never happened, for even this sliver has welcomed madness with open arms, that poor sliver that still held for so long, for so long, and now even it has gone past madnesses door, for death lies forbidden

Tried omeprazole plus domperidon combo and it went away...it hit me again in Jan 2024 so went for another endoscopy which suggested mild reflux esophagitis And gastroduodenitis...doc just upped my dose of ppi Found temporary relief but flared up again so this time i changed doc...he ordered for a poop test for h pylori and it came back negative!!!!!now he just put me on amitryptaline and a prokinetic Although my symptoms have reduced but i still have no answers at all. I'm freaking out what if it is gastroparesis? Currently have high cholesterol. bad cholesterol count of 103 according to my primary care.
Current medications: metoclopramide 5mg. sertraline 25mg, pantoprazole 40mg
i’ll include pictures of some tests that i’ve had done in the comments if i can.
Gonna try to include as best of a description of my symptoms as i can, i’ll also try to edit anything if it makes my description better.
this all started 2 months ago. literally the last week of february. at the time i wasn’t on any type of medication. nothing changed in my eating habits, except for the fact that i’d had panda express for the 1st time ever starting in february.
i became constipated suddenly one afternoon and this continued for a week. went to the doctor and i was sent to get a ct scan. but obviously, i’m not familiar with medical terms. from what i understand, there’s evidence of slow transit through my small bowel, but don’t know where or why exactly.
symptoms include: constipation accompanied by side and abdominal discomfort/aches/ pains. my upper abdominal area aches a lot some days. it feels as if the area right under the breast bones wants to cramp up. i feel burning in my stomach and abdomen too. gas is hard to pass somedays and feels trapped. i also have upper back aches. doctor told me it’s because of my small intestine. i also have lower back aches as well, but was told it could be because of kidney stones i didn’t even know i had, but just thought i’d mention this. i have diarrhea (once i went and it was very watery,) loose stools, stools with mucus and pieces of undigested food, mainly meat, of varying shapes and consistencies. the mucus on my stool is clear and white and appears like strings on my stool. sometimes i’ll have a semi normal movement, but with mucus. sometimes my stool will be thin, in small pieces, or just very loose even after a “normal” bowel movement. other times i’ll go but it’s just mucus. all my stools are also slimey in texture from what i can tell. also, everytime i wipe my stool it’s yellow in color with mucus and/or clear fluid. sometimes i’ll have this urgency to go despite being constipated.
also, not sure if this has to do with my current condition but have been wiping light red blood after i go, both with my more solid stools and loose ones. in one instance i even wiped only blood. there’s also been times where i’ve seen streaks of blood on my stool too. clear fluid also seems to be leaking out of my anal area…. clear mucus sometimes too. this causes my anal area and the inside of it to itch and sting. it feels like that sometimes after a bowel movement, even if it’s soft, other times it just feels itchy throughout the day, even if there is no anal leakage or if i don’t go to the bathroom. the mucus that comes out sometimes has pieces of stool/liquid that is the color of my stool. even with the supplements and meds i’ve been given, i’m lucky if I go even once a day now, but constipation is getting worse in my opinion.
in late march/early april i started to experience nausea, heartburn, acid reflux, and severe loss of appetite. all of these symptoms have persisted since. i no longer eat any of the food i used to. i can’t eat fast food or meat any more. i’m sticking to fruit, no citrusy fruits, crackers, soups, and cereal with almond or lactose free milk. even with these changes in diet my symptoms have persisted.
i eat very little because i just don’t feel hunger like i used to at all. even if i do i find that i get full very easily. i’m bloated after i eat as well. also, like i said i’m constipated so my bowel movement are little to none.
i currently still have all of the symptoms above and they don’t seem to be improving.
in a addition to a ct scan i’ve gotten tested for a blood infection, negative. celiac disease blood test came back negative. stool test for h pylori came back negative. a test to find if there was any blood digested and present in my stool came back negative. a stool test that was done to measure levels of fat in my stool came back indicating normal levels of fat in my stool. i also got an ultra sound for lumps that appeared on my abdomen but it was found that they were just fatty lumps. i also got an endoscopy in late april where 3 tissue biospies were taken. apparently, the 3 things they tested for all came back negative. other than a bacterial infection, i have no idea what else they ruled out. i’m not even white sure what bacterial infections they ruled out.
honestly, i’m getting more questions than answers at the moment and just want to know if there’s any more testing that i should ask for. what could possibly be happening to me and why?

Is it just me or is everyone sick at the moment? There’s been viruses and covid flying around my workplace offices - both city and regional.
I came down with a sore throat last Sunday, which turned into fever, muscle aches and dry cough with green muck coming up from my lungs. Negative covid tests. Saw a gp last Thursday, got sent for a swab (still awaiting results) and started on antibiotics as I started going down hill.
Been literally coughing up my lungs every night to the point I can’t sleep. Lungs are too tired to keep coughing. I’ve not been sick for over a year and this is something else.
Anyone else experiencing a virus like this at the moment? Going on day 8 and not significantly better.

I'm looking for advice while I wait to see a doc. I've been to the hospital 3 times in the last 2 months for sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, and high blood pressure, thinking I'm having a heart attack. The first time I couldn't breathe, collapsed, and thought I was going to die in the hospital. Each time they've taken my tests, my heart and lungs are perfectly fine.
I just learned about GERD and think I may be experiencing this. I'm not experiencing any of the typical regurgitation, no stomach ache or nausea, the pain is really all centered in the chest with high blood pressure. It's been happening every night for at least a week. I live alone and am terrified every night, I'm so sad, feel so weak, and hyperfixated on both my health and every sensation in my body.
I guess I need to vent more than anything else. This came on so suddenly, with no warning, and no obvious cause. It's really getting to me :'(

started on elvanse (40mg with 10mg of dex as a booster) a little under a month ago and have lost around 5kg, from 72kgs to 67kgs. I've had this before on concerta and my appetite is really wiped out and i feel so nauseous and and have no desire to eat even after the meds have worn off. I'm finishing uni this month so I'm doing a lot of last minute essays right now which means I'm just sat typing all day with no routine which means i don't make time to eat anywhere near enough and i honestly just really don't want to eat at the moment. i know i'd probably be able to manage this a lot better normally but i am just so overwhelmed right now by everything else. i am also worried if there are any actual health risks of losing weight so fast, right now i just feel a little weak and my body is starting to ache.
I usually have a really good relationship with food and with my body, but as soon as I start losing this much weight it really freaks me out, especially because the last time i was rapidly losing weight (around 2kg a week) from adhd medication people kept congratulating me which made me feel so awful and uncomfortable and its so hard to not let my brain slip into thinking this weight loss is a positive, and that its something i should pursue, because this makes eating so much harder. its also just so disconcerting, like i just put on some pyjamas id worn the other week and they like noticeably fit different. i know this is something I'll sort out but its just so frustrating and overwhelming to deal with especially when I have so much to do right now. its so hard as well because the meds are really working apart from this and i don't want to have to stop taking them because of this so hopefully it will even out.
I'm trying to make sure I buy really easy food that i really like and can eat with nausea, even if it is a lot more expensive, and i do have huel (it is really helpful sometimes but to be honest i have lost the bottle somewhere in the house and i know its going to be crazy mouldy in there so am a bit frightened to find it ha .... )
not really got much point to this post just really need to rant, because this isn't something i can discuss with my friends as weight and food is so sensitive. I've read a lot of advice for this but would still be appreciated. might just need a woe is me moment, maybe just want to feel like i am not the only person experiencing this!

Why do deserts, especially baked goods, give me nausea and head aches but soda is fine?
I don't handle eating deserts well. Cookies and brownies seem to be okay in small amounts but other deserts make me feel awful, especially cake. I mostly avoid eating deserts, especially from restaurants.
However, I can drink soda and usually don't have a problem. It takes a lot of soda for me to start to feel bad, and most of the time it seems like it's more that I havent had enough water more so than the amount of sugar I have had. I can normally drink one or two glasses of juice but after that it will start to make me feel awful too.
Is there a reason the sugar in deserts would have such a bigger impact on me than soda? I know there's different types of sugars but I would think the soda ones would be worse. That doesn't seem to be the case for me. Obviously soda is really bad for you. I'm not arguing otherwise.
I am 25 years old, 5'10", 195lbs, mostly European ancestry. I am currently taking allergy medicine and allergy shots, but these are both fairly new. Sugar has been affecting me greatly since I was probably about 13 and it's getting worse

TL:DR: 3 days past due date, been very stressed for the past month. Birth doula suggested my stress hormones may be the reason, blocking labour from starting. Looking for stories where by re having a day of relaxing potentially brought on your on labour?

I am 40+2 with my second baby. I also have a toddler and needless to say, life is busy. My first w as a week late and I had to be induced as my body did nothing on its own to go into labour. This time around, I’ve been 1 cm dilated with a soft but high cervix since 39 weeks. It seems like history is bound to repeat itself and I desperately want to avoid being induced (I developed high BP at 40+3 with my first and my induction took three days but I did ultimately deliver naturally and everyone was healthy.)
This pregnancy has been more stressful than my first. Just taking the last month as an example, baby was breech and I tried ALL the things to flip her. I spent almost a thousand dollars (and a lot of time and energy) on various massage, physiotherapy, chiro and acupuncture treatments (thank god for my husbands amazing work benefits I got it all back), and between 34-37 weeks I basically was entirely focused on flipping her. I am especially motivated for a vaginal birth because due to health issues, I am not allowed to get a spinal or epidural so if I need a c-section it will need to be done under general anesthesia and that would mean both me and my husband would miss my daughter being born which breaks my heart. So, for over a month I was stressing constantly about her position. Somewhere in there I started my maternity leave a bit early too because with my husband and I both working full time, I had done barely anything to prepare for having this baby around the house, so between everything, I was working my butt off at home to prep for baby. Basically the plan was for an ECV at 37 weeks exactly if nothing else worked (spoiler: nothing worked). Just before the ECV, my toddler brought home a nasty daycare virus which I caught and the ECV was postponed until 37+5 when I was feeling (temporarily) better. Fortunately baby flipped easily however in the process she must have landed in a bad spot for my pelvis, because as I was walking out of the hospital with my newly flipped baby, my left SI joint went “out” and I could hardly walk. Cue me needing to use a cane and limping around the next 3+ weeks (I can still just barely weight-bear on that side and I’m just generally in constant pain, sleeping in a bed is torture). Then I woke up the day after my ECV to find that my cold had turned into a bad sinus infection and bronchitis, but because I only swabbed positive for rhinovirus in L&D, no one would give me an antibiotic despite me having a history of sinus infections. I could barely breathe, wheezed constantly, could not lay flat without massive coughing fits (so was sleeping maybe 2-3 hours a night sitting up) and strained all my abdominal muscles. This went on for 5 days until finally my GP agreed to give me an antibiotic and puffer. It took a full week on that for my symptoms to completely resolve. Over those 5 days before I got the antibiotic I also made 4 more trips to L&D, one for high BP which came down on its own, one for thinking my water broke (turns out I just peed from coughing) and two for reduced fetal movement related to dehydration (they gave me fluids and baby’s HR came back down to normal). Overlying that has been the constant worry that baby will somehow flip back to being breech or transverse (fortunately she has stayed head down). The past two weeks I’ve primarily spent cleaning/nesting and going to various appointments to try and fix my pelvic pain to no avail. Then on my due date this past Thursday, my toddler comes home yet again with green runny nose and I am just terrified now of getting sick yet again.
SO. Needless to say, I have been under a lot of stress. I completely online birthing classes and decided to reach out to the instructor to ask for suggestions on how to get my labour going to hopefully avoid an induction. After hearing just a fraction of what I’ve been through, she suggested that. I will not be able to walk myself into labour (despite my hip pain I have remained active for the sake of keeping baby head down and getting labour going). She said that potentially it is a mental block preventing my labour from progressing, noting that stress hormones work against labour hormones. Honestly, it makes sense to me since I still feel stressed and exhausted, I keep thinking “ok baby don’t come tonight, just let me get one good nights sleep first”…only for me to sleep like shit yet again.
So I’m going to focus on trying to relax tomorrow (Sunday). I would love to read some stories from people who think that relaxing was the key to getting their labour going. I feel like I see all the stories about how walking or nesting induced labour but nothing about how just chilling might have been what was needed.

Hi! I was exposed to sb on Thursday around 1 it’s now Saturday at 7:30. When I was exposed I took all the proper precautions, washed my hands, kept distance, etc. I haven’t been sick at all other than a little n* that I attribute to anxiety. However I just started running a fever, not feeling n* or any sort of stomach discomfort other then normal feelings of g*s. I just have a 101° fever, headache, body aches, and chills. Anyone think this could be sb?

My wife (30) was diagnosed 6 months ago. Today she took her first kesimpta shot. Right now she is experiencing body aches, chills and itchiness, and pretty tired. She took tylonal and Advil and just now an antihistamine. Other than love, what can I do to help? How long might we expect these symptoms to last? Thanks everyone

2024.05.19 01:57 blueeyedburt Flare up symptoms (advice wanted!)

Does anyone else feel really off during a flare up?
Aside from the normal fatigue, bloody stool, cramping, nausea, chills etc. I feel like confused - really brain foggy and out of it. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same?
I am drinking a lot and eating enough even if it’s coming out lol I just feel like out of it.
