I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I worked for a small law firm after. I enjoyed the work more or less, but our views didn’t align. I left after nearly a year. In 2021, I started working for the county court. It’s a great job, I do like it. I get to be around judges and attorneys all day. Pay isn’t great, but I’m single, no kids, so I’m living relatively well. I already planned to leave in October to find a higher paying job. I’ve juggled the thought of law school for a few years now. I turned 26 in January and for some reason the thought became more serious. I’ve been studying for the LSAT since. Now my plan is to leave my job in November, travel around Europe for a few months, and come back and either be ready to start a new job or go to law school. But the truth is, I have a 3.2 GPA. Though I have work experience in the legal field, I’m not sure I’d have a high chance of getting in to law school, even if I breakthrough the 170s. I’ve read so many posts, watched videos, and articles underlining the fact that immeasurable stress lies ahead (LSAT, law school, bar, job search.) I know this path is far from easy. Plus the cost and time, I’ll be 30 by the time I’m finished! Then, I’ll have to start over in a career. Just how… how do you let go of your independence, your money, and sanity to go back to being a broke student in the pursue of a professional degree? Does this mean I’m simply not ready? I just need advice, a sign, or a prayer lol.

So for context I watched this video about the Star Wars hotel at Disneyland- it's 4 hours long lol she goes into a lot of detail. But basically it's a two-day thing where you're staying at this hotel and there's character actors you can interact with and minigames and sort of 'questlines' you can progress, which align you with different factions etc. It didn't work irl but sounds like an interesting format for a game. As in, a short, immersive interactive experience set in a relatively small area, with roleplaying/puzzle/escape mechanics, and multiple storylines/endings depending on which characters you interact with and progress their quests? To be clear, not an escape room game but a game with story and dialogue, and not a point and click adventure game, just not personally a fan of that genre.

I've recently started to learn python, and I'm trying to make a simple cookie clicker game for a class. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that when I click the cookie, the counter goes up. Also, the turtle doesn't disappear when I use hideturtle(). So far, the closest I've gotten was when I clicked the Screen, the counter goes up, and the whole cookie disappears. It is when I used sc.onclick(clicked). This is my code:

Before I get into my thoughts and seek your feedback on this topic, let me introduce myself and share a bit about my experience with Final Fantasy XIV. I've been a World of Warcraft player for about 14 years. Like many MMO players, I was aware of XIV but never gave it a try because it didn't initially seem appealing, especially since I'm more focused on raiding than lore, which is heavily promoted in this game.
Boy, was I wrong.
I recently switched to XIV, and I have to admit, I'm hooked. Everything about this game is perfect for me: the soundtracks, both in and out of raids, the boss design, the mechanics, the variety of glamour items, the friendly community, and the social aspects of the game. I could go on and on, but I can't believe I didn't try this game years ago. Since starting, I've been trying to convince all my WoW friends to join because this game is fantastic.
I could continue praising this game endlessly. I truly fell in love with it. The only downsides are getting used to the animation lag and the initially strange UI. But there's one aspect that really drains my enthusiasm and motivation to play, which is disappointing because everything else is so enjoyable.
Raiding in this game as a "solo" player is beyond frustrating. I know this can be countered with "just get a static, bro," but since we're at the end of the current expansion, it's tough for a new player to find one that suits me. I'm either too new for sHC/HC statics or too dedicated for casual ones. Finding good statics for older ultimate content like UWU/TEA is also challenging. So, I'll focus on the solo play via Party Finder aspect here.
I have never, and I mean this literally, encountered so many problems and frustrations with raiding in a game in such a short period as I have in FFXIV. I recently began raiding and, like most people aiming for ultimates, I started with the easiest one: UWU. It took me a few days of analyzing logs and watching videos to grasp the fight. After about four days of an incredibly painful Party Finder experience to get accustomed to everything, I got very lucky and was invited to a static group that was temporarily missing a Main Tank and was aiming for a clear. Within two days, we managed to clear it, and everything seemed fine.
However, this is where the nightmare started. After leaving the static since I got my clear and their main tank returned, I attempted to solo clear it to farm more totems. It took me 7 days of raiding for 4-6 hours each day in various Party Finder groups just to get a single re-clear. If you enjoy numbers like I do, here are some statistics, as I like to document my progress and keep track of it:

And let's not even delve into the TEA or P4S/P8S experience, which feels even more challenging because it's significantly less popular. It's a no-win situation. I'm stuck between wasting my time by sticking around for hours, realizing early on that the group isn't making any progress—like when folks join for P3 on TEA without grasping the mechanics even before we get there, or leaving within 30 minutes and being branded as the "toxic, impatient tank" that people might blacklist. Just to clarify, I'm always polite when I do leave early, although it's a rare occurrence.

Two weeks ago I posted a vlog that got around 50 hrs and my scale has been going down due to being over the one year mark. Loke literally went down 30 hrs in that two week frame when between two videos I've had 100 + from what studio says I've noticed them not aligning but now it's evident witb losing so much without any gain

I have tried splitting the job in 2, by downloading and use the plugin "BetterSrames" from a youtuber and then added a "Text+" element on top of it. But very soon it was a nightmare of text alignment and size. I couldn't make it look like my canva, and working with spaces between words to reach the visual aspect seems wrong. I can't see myself redo it for every card played in my video. So I'm reaching out for advices.

Hey guys, so this is an extension of Ianxofour's voidless void trading set up but made to be fully automatic for getting an infinite number of emeralds in survival. It uses two string trading villagers, a string duper some where on the rail, and a pretty simple AHK script to automate everything. Idk how y'all feel about scripts, but it makes my Minecraft experience more fun so I use them in my survival worlds...
The way it works is that you double click the top edge of the button while sitting in a minecart to open the trading menu and send you far enough from the villager that when you trade it doesn't consume the villager's trade inventory. The string duplicator makes sure you never run out of string. The script does all this but also every 40 trades, it empties your inventory into a chest so that you can fill your inventory with emeralds again.
Build Instructions:
The villager on the starting side needs to have string as the second trade, and the other side must have string as the first trade. 1920x1080 monitor, GUI size auto.
Use Instructions:
Enter windowed mode. Set your render and simulation distance to the minimum. Sit in the minecart on the starting side facing the villager, and looking straight down. Use f3 to make sure you are perfectly aligned. With the script running, press ctrl-g to start the farm. To exit the script press ctrl-esc

- Create a string duplicator such that the string drops over the player rail (plenty of videos on this on YT)
- When facing the villager on the starting side in the player minecart, place a chest on your right one block up with two air blocks between you and the chest. (This is for emptying your inventory so it can be run for longer)

Backstory: Like everyone else here I come from a dysfunctional family with a history of abuse. There was also a religious aspect so a lot of shame/guilt/projections etc.
I'm coming to terms with the fact that I was pretty much brainwashed and had an incredibly distorted view of reality that only got better after a psychotic episode I had late adolescence/early adulthood. Im trying to "go through the fire" rather than just "move on" from the trauma and to put everything in a different lens has been earth shattering and heartbreaking for me. But I have a younger sibling that I'm especially worried about.
She's in high school right now, a little older than I was when I first started showing signs of the diagnosis I have now but she's definitely not well adjusted and in alignment with her peers. I played a part in her trauma though. I was not protective of her the way I should've been and treated her the way I was treated by my older siblings. When I was in hs I did what I could to be a better brother but I was starting to lose my mind and often isolated myself. She was just a kid and when I started having hallucinations I would 'hear' her knocking on my door asking to play again :(.
My mental health is better, hard to say by how much but only time will tell. I want to dedicate the rest of my life to being there for her and my family in a real sense and I'm not sure how. I didn't have a support system going through my HS years and psychosis other than hospitalizations and bouncing from therapist to therapist, so I don't really know what to do. As of rn, we bond over video games and I try to play with her when she can but I'm worried it's not enough. I'm worried that not being there when she was young and the times I was cruel and what I now see as abusive will prevent a bridge of trust for us. I'm worried she's closing herself of from the world and will end up like I did — isolated and vulnerable.
Is there anything I can do to be a better brother? A better support? I ask this sub specifically because not everyone can fill in some blanks for certain relationships dynamics. Some siblings don't get along and it's seen as normal but in our family there's no room or excuse for me to be anything but positive and uplifting and I see that now.

Those severe practices involved extreme self-mortification, causing great physical pain (originating from Brahmanism). Thus, Dhutanga in a sense is a precursor to the Middle Way and still closely aligns with it.
Many argue that monastic life should prioritize wisdom over physical asceticism. However, they confuse worldly wisdom with Buddhist wisdom. Worldly wisdom is human cognitive ability, derived from genetics and education, whereas Buddhist wisdom is only revealed when a practitioner strictly adheres to precepts. Observance of precepts leads to concentration, and concentration leads to wisdom. Therefore, the Buddha said, "Where there is virtue, there is wisdom and vice versa."
The core of practicing Dhutanga is to end all defilements and impurities. This practice helps the practitioner guard the senses, not being influenced by circumstances, gradually eliminating greed, hatred, and delusion. That is why monastics eat only one meal a day (reducing greed for food), sleep sitting (reducing the desire for sleep, as lying down can lead to deep, excessive sleep), and wear three robes (actually one set, the minimum requirement, reducing attachment to clothing).

On his journey, if he is tempted by material possessions, money, or beauty, it means that desire has arisen; if he feels troubled by the crowd, it means anger has arisen. Therefore, solitary retreat alone may not necessarily help control the mind when faced with worldly temptations.
Many people also question the social utility of his wanderings. If everyone did as he does, who would produce food? These questions are shortsighted and self-serving.
What have we done for society? Everyone contributes to society in varying degrees, and human values are not solely measured by material contributions but also by spiritual ones. Typically, what we do is visible and beneficial to ourselves and our families. In contrast, what Venerable Minh Tue has done for society is far more significant and evident:

If he starts feeling important, central, or like a star due to attention and veneration, he immediately falls into ego clinging and arrogance. If he gets annoyed by the crowd, it means anger has arisen. These situations are ultimate tests on the path of precepts and mindfulness. Observing him, no matter how hard the walk, his face remains serene with a smile. Perhaps he has attained tranquility.

This shows fearlessness as he has thoroughly understood impermanence and selflessness. What we should care about is whether he has truly attained this mindset. If he has, Nirvana is not far away. Therefore, we should rejoice.

They ridiculed his robe, calling it "plot selling land," or criticized his rice cooker as an unofficial alms bowl. But they fail to understand that he has reached a state of non-attachment, indifferent to shame or ridicule. Having chosen a renunciant life, living without family, sleeping in cemeteries, overcoming family ties is the greatest obstacle.
The meanest tactic they use is labeling him as an agent of foreign anti-government organizations, portraying him as a beggar monk to undermine Vietnamese Buddhism and the nation.
I must say, Vietnamese Buddhism is undermined by fraudulent monks, tolerated and supported. They exploit karma and reincarnation theories, distorting and frightening the ignorant with horrific afterlife scenarios. They continue exploiting donations as a way to resolve karmic debts, seeking blessings, and accumulating merit, the more money, the better, even encouraging devotees to donate entire houses to temples and live simply elsewhere. In short, just donate.
Therefore, the purification of fraudulent monks will be the revival of Vietnamese Buddhism.
Praising Venerable Minh Tue's practice does not mean devaluing other practices of true monks in the country. Each has different capacities and vows, so not everyone can be the same. Every individual is here to fulfill a unique mission.
If the standard of a monk is virtue, clearly, the one who practices surpasses the one who understands. Practicing Dhutanga is a great merit, rarely achieved. Therefore, praising and respecting virtue is right but not deifying or idolizing Venerable Minh Tuệ at this moment, as this would lead to wrong views and contradict the spirit of Buddhism.

Now you see people filling their lives with love, trying to handle my way of breaking old patterns. Running through this path of self-awareness helps us stay in sync with our world.
This week, my improvements in work and communication have made a significant jump. Tasks that were once difficult are now manageable with effort and organization.
In my tarot practice, after watching some videos, I started listening to music and singing to find comfort. Recently, I've done something amazing for my chakras for the second time.
It's remarkable how aligning with our planet's energies can feel like a wild journey. My process of singing has brought new friends, help, and challenges, but it's improving each time I practice.

Hi all - longtime Star Wars card, mini, video gamer here and had a thought that I was thinking would make SWU a bit more fun and satisfying IMHO - for home and not organized play of course. I've played a fair amount of MTG over the years and have always wished for a Star Wars card game that had a more satisfying play experience. SWU is getting closer, but the resource mechanic just doesn't feel fluid to me. I get the whole design decision about not being flooded or starved, but to me that was part of the appeal. I'm thinking of creating some resource cards aligned to aspect that one could include in a deck and change the min. size to 60 cards. I think it would be epic to have resource cards with cool artwork of places throughout the Star Wars galaxy that would power ones deck. Anyone with me on this idea, or am I alone on this one?

2024.05.19 03:36 tinkerrunner Help putting the washer back together
 | Okay so I have a kenmore elite washer that I took the agitator off to clean and I can't get the agitator to line back up and worried it's starting to stripe. The plastic teeth aren't lining up with the metal gear. Any ideas or tips on how to get it back on properly? What am I missing? Any YouTube videos that might help with tips?
