2024.05.14 00:59 elphin Suggestions requested. I have extensive bishop's goutweed and am looking for ideas plantings that will survive.

As I’ve just said I have extensive bishops goutweed and after 15 years I have given up fighting with it. Plants that have had some success are bleeding heart, peony and clementis. Everything else has been subsumed into the terrible goutweed. Oddly, tall phlox self seeds and does well. Everything else has died.
It’s a fairly large garden that designed by a partner of Fredrick Olmsted about 100 years ago. It is historically significant and I feel responsible.
I am looking for ideas for small shrubs, large plant and other things that will survive the very tall, very shady gout weed.

You slowly make your way to the automatic doors that you swear won't open and you'll run into it and BOOM first thing you see.. a bunch of houseplants doomed to be killed by the soul who "swears they will keep this one alive this time"

2024.04.20 19:10 TheSonic311 A Solution to the Meijer Gardens Concert Series Annual Ticketing Shitshow:

In an effort to be a know it all, these are my proposed fixes that could solve the annual Meijer Gardens Concert Series Shitshow (obviously they can't implement ALL solutions):
1) Require members have actually attended the gardens at least once before being allowed tickets. This would weed out bots and flippers, to a degree.
2) Digital ticketing only, no ticket transfers allowed. You buy the tickets, you use them. NO chance to flip them. I believe the way AXS does it is you can transfer the tickets same day? Unsure. But I know some artists are doing this so that only their fans (and fewer flippers) have access to tickets.
3) Limit the tickets based on type of membership: - Single members can buy up to (4) tickets. - Family members can buy to to (6) tickets. - Student members can buy up to (2) tickets
4) Don't open all ticket sales at the same time. Stagger the releases by event, or by month. Having ALL shows go on sale at once is unnecessarily chaotic and an unforced error on the part of FMG.
5) Alternatively, have all members submit lists of ticket requests, in order of preference and random draw. DMB, Pearl Jam, etc do this and it works... and it's eminently fair. When your name comes up, you get your top choice (if available), if not your second choice. If you have other draws you go back and can try for a second show as soon as everyone else requesting got at least their first request (if available)
Before anyone asks: - Yes I know this was unsolicited, and I'm kinda pissing into the wind. I'm OK with that. - Yes I already politely emailed these suggestions to FMG. As a longtime member, I hope they take serious action.

Has anyone noticed certain coffees give you hot flashes? I picked up some whole bean Costa Rican blend from Fredricks by Meijer. I had many hot flashes and many night sweats. I stopped drinking that coffee and im fine. Ive had a hysterectomy, i do not frequently get hot flashes. Something about this coffee... anyone else....
