Favorite YouTube/Twitch playthroughs of the whole series to watch?

2023.11.24 04:33 ThatOneGuyYouNowKnow Favorite YouTube/Twitch playthroughs of the whole series to watch?

One of my favorite things is seeing content creators playing Danganronpa for the first time game by game (and in some cases watching the anime too). I’ve had the fortune to watch through a handful of them. Here are some of my favorites and little explanations to why, in no particular order of course.
1.Game Grumps: Their LPs of THH and SDR2 during the pandemic are what introduced me to Danganronpa and inspired me to play, read and watch just about everything this series has to offer.
They’re masters of making visual novels as entertaining as possible through their incredibly stupid humor. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. They also unintentionally call so many of the twists and dialogue lines ahead of time that it’s scary. They’ve committed to playing V3 but I hope they also play UDG and maybe even watch the anime as part of a charity stream or something.
2. Pixel Partners: Evan & Ali are criminally underrated content creators. Their chemistry enhances the whole experience and their reactions to all the big moments and plot twists are so fun to watch. Their playthrough of V3 is probably my favorite V3 playthrough of everyone on this list. Heavily recommended.
3. NyanCave: As a long-form livestream series, Tom and Clay were really fun to watch play from start to finish. And they even did a watch-along marathon for the anime which I loved.
It’s anime gamer bros being anime gamer bros in the best way, solid reactions to all the twists as well. And they played V3 as it released so their playthrough feels really authentic. The most complete of all the playthroughs on the list for sure.
4. Lucahjin: Lucah is such a goofy, excitable ball of energy and I simply love seeing her play this series. The way she simps over Byakuya, Mondo, Nagito and Korekiyo is hilarious. And her reactions are so genuine I just enjoy everything about her content. Worthwhile for sure.
Any thoughts? What are some of your favorite playthroughs if they weren’t listed above? As always any and all input is welcomed and thanks for reading! 🙂

2023.05.07 02:45 WECH21 Transmasc Names Survey RESULTS (Part One)

Hello! This is for the whopping 1864 homies who took my survey last week! This is going to be a gigantic post so buckle up! (P.S. Bear with formatting, it's my first time posting on Reddit on a computer and not a phone so... yeesh)

First some context and news:

I didn't expect this many dudes/humans to participate so thanks for that! Definitely went in a bit over my head lol, I graduated with Creative Writing and Sociology... not Statistics. So, after manually moving around 700 responses over from the original survey to the bettefinal survey... and the hours of doing so that gave me lots of time to think...

I realized a way to get you guys possibly a bit better results than what my brain is limited to. One of my best friends (who is a trans woman if that makes y'all feel a bit comfier lol), Mallory, happens to work in statistics and she offered to help with her wizard smart noggin to try and get a bit deeper into what our results are showing. She said she will hopefully be able to look it over (an Excel sheet I moved the stuff over to, she has no access to your raw information :) and work her magic sometime this coming week and then I will be able to share what she finds with y'all!

Also, because I have a small, smooth brain I have only listed names/years/etc. that were put down more than 10 times... otherwise y'all would be scrolling through a novel here. Some names were grouped together for their similarity/variation in spelling/etc. The number at the end of each section is how many responses were given for that question. If anyone wants to know specifically how many people answered xyz, shoot me a DM!

Anywho, if y'all have any questions, or would like me to hit you up whenever that update is posted, feel free to post a lil comment!

EDIT: Assuming I find a way to post the entirety of the results without compromising anyonymity, that will likely come out when Mal is done looking through everything. That way everyone can know all the cool names that people have and can see their own :)
EDIT 2: Also if you have any suggestions for how this survey can be improved, let me know! Might try it again in a year to see how things have changed!

2022.10.08 20:12 oberry50 I will never experience a piece of media like this again

I've been into rpg/visual novel psychological horror games for years now. I've played yume nikki, Jimmy and the pulsating mass, Lisa, Undertale, Sally Face, Fran Bow, Mad Father, Corpse Party, Danganronpa, IB, Lisa, OFF, earthbound, Doki Doki, Tears to Tiara, Nepenthe, Hello Charlotte, tomorrow won't come for those without, slimes, lucah born of a dream, oneshot, mother 3, and the lot i don't feel like listing all of them. There are some fantastic games in there, but Omori is just on a completely different level in my opinion. It hit me in a way no piece of art has ever. I guess it's good to comfortably have a game to be my favorite, but it's also sadenning to think I will never get to experience something on the same level ever again. The art style, the storytelling, the characters, the horror linked to mental health, the absolute abyss of my soul that I didn't know existed. It's just the best, which is great because it exists, but sad because I've already played it.

2022.01.05 23:21 owlitup More awesome Indie games you maybe don't know exist: Return of the eShop

Yes, this is the third part of my actual, not-celeste hidden gems trilogy. I thought the second would be the last part but people asked me for more recs. First thread was almost a year ago, second thread was five months ago. I frequently try out new games so my list keeps evolving.
You know the deal: I enjoy making these posts because I enjoy playing games, and people keep asking for game recommendations all the time, especially Indie titles because there's so many and the sheer mass of them just keeps growing.
What also grows is the piles on top of piles of random ass shovelware games. So here's just my two cents to filter out the noise.
I won't waste your time, I know you enjoy playing games as well. Like I said: no Celeste on this list, definitely not Ori, not Bug Fables or Spiritfarer, or Skul: Hero Slayer here. You already know those, yes they're very good, let's move on.
So, on the first thread I recommended:
Akane
Lucah: Born of a Dream
Thumper
Subsurface Circular
20XX

Second thread:
CrossCode
Mutazione
Splasher
Sayonara Wild Hearts
Wandersong
Sakuna of Rice and Ruin

I can easily still recommend all these games, incredible titles. I have to say though that I may have overhyped Mutazione a bit. Just a bit, probably cause I wrote that right after finishing it. It's very good and worth playing, but I compared it to Night in the Woods... yeah, no. That's my only criticism to my past self, the rest of the titles all hold up and are very fun to play.

So here we go:
Honorable mention: My Friend Pedro -- it's very good. seriously very good. I don't have a very good guess as to if you know this game exists, hopefully, so it's here as an honorable mention just in case you don't. Go play it.
Paradise Killer -- a fascinating game. A Switch console exclusive (EDIT: I mean exclusive to consoles, came to PC too) that has a minuscule loud fanbase. It's like Phoenix Wright with vaporwave aesthetics, jazzy ass soundtrack, set in a walking simulator world with 3D collectathon mechanics and objectives.
Walk, listen to jazz, explore, find things, talk to people, collect evidence
So, the Phoenix Wright part. You are Lady Love Dies, an absolute babe and a defense attorney. You gotta defend a case which you can start at any time. The game is open world and you collect evidence. The more you find, the better case you make, but you can beat the game in 20 minutes with your crazy ass no evidence theory, because you create your own truth. That's what the game is about.
If you're not in a visual novel segment talking to people, you are walking around in first person in this city full of crazy vaporwave people. You can't do much in terms of controls, all you have to do is find interactable spots like evidence, people, or actual collectibles like music tracks (incredible OST btw, if you like funky jazz type beat listen to it right now).
So what this means is you are walking around in this lo fi environment with amazing music finding things to interact with. That's what I mean when I say it plays like a 3D collectathon. Not the controls but the level design and the exploring and collecting. The more you explore and find, the more evidence you will have to make a better case, have a deeper understanding of the characters and just give a better ending to the game for you to enjoy.
It's an open world sandbox and you can go wherever, just gotta find things, play for however long you like as many times as you like. The replay value on offer here and the intelligent premise puts it over the top. Fantastic, unique game. Easy to recommend.
Unsighted -- it's like CrossCode, but not as deep mechanically. Pixel art, isometric combat, RPG mechanics, some platforming, 2D zelda type puzzles, tons of customization, tons of very cool ranged and melee weapons. Honestly, the cyborg characters and the swords/rifles/crazy whips is probably the best part of the game.
It's a bit "darker" than CrossCode, set in a cyberpunk setting where everyone's a cyborg and has a limited amount of in-game time to live before they become corrupted and consumed by the AI, or whatever it was. This includes you, you will die eventually.
The game literally runs on a time limit. You can't save everyone and you can't take too long.
You gotta figure out which character you wanna save, because you like them but mostly because of the reward you get if you do. You can turn the time limit off in the options and just play the game normally. However that boils the game down to a polished but more "seen it before" 2D action RPG. Still super fun game, though. But it's on this list if you play with the time limit and the stress and decision making it brings. It's a VERY fun time and a unique idea, I think it made the game absolutely killer.
The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa -- I played this game ages ago. Last two times I did this, I thought it was niche but not that obscure for people like us. But, time keeps passing and literally nobody ever talks about it. It's a one of a kind. It looks just like River City Ransom, but to me, much better to play today.
You go to high school, you get into fights with rival schools, you do exams, take jobs... one day at a time. You train, you learn new moves for combat, you play pool. Game has a in-time clock considering days, hours and weeks. Most of these things I mentioned you have to do in a specific place at a specific time, and the game doesn't tell you how. You have to figure it out yourself.
There's many nuances, too. Smoking cigarettes replenishes your health (lol). If you dont show up to work one time (once you finally find the job, again, a specific day and time), you get fired and can never try again. You can go to the public park and lift for free instead of paying for the gym. Tons of stuff.
You can figure the basics out, but even that takes a while and tons of wasted days. But it's okay, you got time. It's incredibly rewarding, and then you stroll down like an absolute badass in the final portion of the game with badass moves. And just like real life, when you finally kinda get a hang of what's going on, it's time to move on. A very tricky game to fully understand but massively rewarding for the patient player. The dialogue is very well written too.
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX -- a spin-off of the main series, Azure Striker Gunvolt. You probably know those games (if you're on this sub that is, they're actually quite niche). This one's just like that, but cheaper and much shorter. If you don't know, it's Mega Man X but with lots of anime and very slight RPG elements. It's got anime theme songs and everything. You play as Copen, a ninja cyborg that looks super cool. To me, it's absolutely the sleeper hit of the Inti Creates library. A sequel is coming this month.

please post your own recommendations!!
