2024.05.14 05:33 BackgroundChampion55 BHO extractor invention.

BHO extractor invention.
So I am getting my parts . It's awesome. I had so many extra parts like these columns. They happen to be the same size. I use for vapor transfer for some distillation apparatus. I work on. They will also fit right on a beer keg. And make a column still. Or a whiskey still whatever you want. You can make Extracts as well. The only thing there is the boiler system for a still usually uses fire Or an electrode. Which is fine 4 water, but not for cannabis, so you would have to make a jacket. Who are they a condenser inside? Which is what I have. All this stuff just screws together. Just a few more including a butane Inlet. I know where to order them, but they are expensive. Other than breaking something open, anyone know a source ? I found mine in train stores as apparently some railroad cars run on butane, so they sell these inlet valves. You can just screw in, but they are 10 or $12. But then twenty dollars shipping. I just want them to drop it in the mail. The stamps but they won't. Those bastards.lol. I'm going to be making something that will allow you to contain your butane, without wasting it without a expensive vacuum pump. At the very least, this will cut Down on butane use. As it stands, they make excellent oil extraction columns. I will be running some water Extracted resin/if. That will also cut down on the butane. As it will be purified resin, not leave. But with this, it's like a big lego set for adults. It all screws in together mostly. Eyeweld stainless steel so I can make my own parts, but it is easier just to buy them premade if I can.

Here is my foam sprayer pump but it doesn't work I modifiedit). Any advice ?
Please apologise for some terms, I am not native English speaker.
I bought this in a garden store and modify it by making holes in the thin tube as well as adding green pieces of sponge in the nozzle area. I found this technic only.
My problem is that I only have thick foam at the very end of my sprayer, after using almost the whole 2L, then thick white foam starts to come. Before that it's just a soapy water.
I did try different opening of the nozzle and hot or cold water, same. But everytime i reached the bottom of the sprayer, it was a nice and thick foam.
Any idea or experiences?

2024.05.14 05:25 CricketCritical1892 I'm freaking out!

I haven't even had my first consult yet with BetterU, and I'm already freaked out guys! Spent all day looking up possible liver, kidney and bladder issues even from moderate use. I've had GAD and social anxiety for as long as I can remember, and I've always dealt with it by drinking. I don't drink daily but 6-7 drinks, Fri to Sun. So it's worrying me that my liver will somehow get messed up during treatment. My Liver enzymes and other bloodwork were all in normal range last August. I'm generally healthy, active and drink lots of water.
I'm also worked up about dropping into some nightmare k hole!
Anyways, I compiled a list of supplements that are protective. Just to be proactive: Nac, milk thistle, d mannose, green tea extract . Does this sound about right?
Am I way overthinking this and flipping out for little reason??

2024.05.14 05:17 mickey_blue_eye Hot Cold Cross

I have a section of a building where hot water is coming from the cold. I’ve isolated all the mixing valves with no success. There is a janitor sink but the water is isolated as it should. I did notice a significant pressure drop when the cold water is used in other areas of the building. Is it possible that a pressure drop could cause a vacuum drawing the hot into the cold at the electric water tank?
-There is no vacuum breaker on the tank. -I’m sure the PRV is faulty.

2024.05.14 05:15 JustTryingStuffHere 10 Months Post-op - sex is still uncomfortable

Bit of backstory: in 2020 I developed a skin issue with my foreskin that progressively worsened. Took a year to get a proper diagnosis (erosive form of Zoon's, most likely) and treatment that partially managed it (combination keeping the foreskin rolled down, plus tacrolimus for the area still covered). I still had near constant pain for several years, and sex was only possible every few days (and usually painful).
In 2023 I finally made the decision to get a circumcision. Went to Bidair in San Diego. He was great. Since it was for medical reasons he recommended a Low and Tight cut.
The healing process sucked. It took a good 4-5 months to heal. The wounds closed fast and stitches dissolved in two weeks, but I was still dealing with months of painful erections, then painful lumps for a few months after (from the numbing injections). I was able to very carefully masterbate after about a month, and sex after 3 months, though still painful.
Now I'm 10 months in. The good? Daily pain has disappeared and I feel no discomfort having water run over it directly in the shower, or cleaning it, or from rubbing against my boxers. This alone is 100% enough reason to have done it, as I have not felt this pain-free in 4 years. Another positive is that it also looks, dare I say it, pretty. Both flaccid and erect. Dr. Bidair did an excellent job.
Masturbation is different, but quite good most of the time. Sometimes I still have some discomfort, but other times I've been able to work up to some of the most intense orgasms in my life. I've tried both lube and without it, and it's significantly better without it. No deathgrip needed. It also feels great rubbing my glans directly, which I couldn't do even before I developed a medical issue.
Sex however is still a struggle. One the one hand, it feels too intense around the scarline, to the point of being almost painful, even when using lots of lube. One the other hand, it feels less pleasurable. I can still find the spots that are still very sensitive quite easily with my hand (or my girlfriend's hand), but it's a lot harder to put pressure on the right spots when having sex to feel really good. A lot of spots have lost sensitivity for sure, likely a result of the type of cut (low & right). So it either feels too intense and painful, or too numb and uninteresting, or sometimes both alternating. I have still been able to reach orgasm everytime we have sex regardless, but it's taking a lot more effort, and it's seldom very satisfactory.
I'm still very glad I went through with it, as I feel no discomfort at all outside of sex, but I'm still somewhat bummed sex is just far less good then it was years before. Since it's been 10 months already I don't really expect big improvements.

2024.05.14 05:08 Putrid-Balance-4441 Rant: Older PC builder here; so stuck in my ways with regards to air vs water cooling

Ever since I built my first 80486-based computer, I've been hooked on PC building as a hobby. I'm not going to pretend to be some expert who can make custom hardline builds and overclock them.
For a time, I through hardship, and stopped building for a long time. When I came back, water coolers were everywhere. I didn't understand the difference between closed loop (AIO) and open loop (custom). And all of that RGB stuff looked annoying and terrifying.
I'm older. We older people get crabby about change.
Anyway, I ended up swallowing my pride and bought a pre-built. It was shitty as many pre-builts are (CyberPower if you must know). Somehow, some buffoon managed to install the wrong BIOS from a different model, making the BIOS impossible to update. The 120 AIO was shit, and I had to upgrade it, which helped me overcome my fear of those new-fangled AIOs and RGB and whatnot.
Then the shitshow computer died right in the middle of the pandemic when it was impossible to buy a graphics card thanks to all those cryptobro morons destroying the environment for what turned out to be a shitty fad for libertarian softheads who can't tell the difference between Bioshock and Ocean's Gate. So I was forced to buy another pre-built because that was the only way to get a decent graphics card at the time.
I'm getting the itch to build a whole new computer from scratch. The cheapo web-browsing computer I recently built for a relative doesn't count, but this entire generation of graphics cards is a dumpster fire, so I didn't.
But now, all the experts are saying that water cooled AIOs are just for looks, and you're better off with air cooled.
Damnit.
Look, I've used HSF (heatsink fan) coolers for most of my adult life. It's what I'm used to. But I finally got used to water cooling, I finally got good at installing and/or upgrading AIOs, and now everyone is saying go back to HSF.
I should have just remained a curmudgeon and stuck with air all along, damnit.
Anyway, I replaced my existing NZXT Kraken X63 with a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE. I love it. It's so much simpler, it will be more reliable in the long-term, and it even makes less noise at idle (which surprised me). The temperatures fluctuate more, but the floor for idle is lower than it was on the 280mm AIO, which surprised me. In BIOS, the temps are some 10°C lower.
I'm just crabbing about the fact that I dug in my heels and resisted making the jump from air to water (so much so that I swalled my pride and bought a pre-built), then I dug my heels in and resisted the move back to air.
What the [bad word] is wrong with me?
PS—did anyone else ever use one of those Piezo-based hot side-cold side CPU coolers back in the day?

2024.05.14 04:55 StoFish The Metals Company (NASDAQ:TMC) - A Quarterly Deep-Sea Mining Misfortune

Abstract:
The Metals Company (NASDAQ:TMC, the “Company”) - sustained heavy mining operations in abyssal depths of 3500 - 5000m using all new technology while asserting environmental friendliness in an “emerging” market lacking a regulatory foundation. Profitability is a distant and very uncertain gleam on the horizon.
Today’s “earnings” saw an overshoot in estimated loss by 60% compared to street estimate. The stock took a dive -10% aftermarket. This is your shot at a management team that already tried and failed miserably.
TMC, the Company and Management:
The Company is specialised in Deep-sea mining (DSM) and exploration, was established in 2021 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.
Members of TMC's management team, including CEO Gerard Barron, were previously associated with Nautilus Minerals, another company specialised in DSM. Nautilus Minerals' attempt to extract minerals from the seafloor within Papua New Guinea's territorial waters ultimately resulted in an environmental disaster and bankruptcy in OCT 2019.
The project was marred by instances of social, environmental, and financial mismanagement. A reported theft of $10 million was coupled with the lack of disclosure of investigation findings to shareholders.
What followed was a new DSM company called DeepGreen Metals, which in turn went public in 2021 through a SPAC merger with Sustainable Opportunities Acquisition Corp and took today’s name The Metals Company (TMC).
The Claims:
TMC possesses exploration contracts awarded by the The International Seabed Authority (ISA) through three subsidiaries: NORI, sponsored by the Republic of Nauru; TOML, sponsored by the Kingdom of Tonga; and DeepGreen Engineering Pte. Ltd., which has entered into an agreement with Marawa Research and Exploration Limited, a company owned and sponsored by the Republic of Kiribati.
All claims are situated within the Clarion-Clipperton Zone (CCZ) in the Pacific Ocean, which is regulated by the ISA.
NORI encompasses a seabed area of 74,830 km2 and is projected to harbour approximately 866 million wet tonnes of polymetallic nodules. TOML, spanning 74,713 km2 of seabed, hosts an inferred resource totaling 756 million wet tonnes of polymetallic nodules. As for the Marawa arrangement, its resource assessment remains pending.
Their compositions are found to consist of approximately 30% Manganese, 1.3% Nickel, 1.1% Copper, and 0.2% Cobalt. Based on current assessments, the net present combined value of mineable metals is estimated to range from $6.8 to $8.6 billion. The combined claims of NORI and TOML would constitute the second-largest nickel mine globally in terms of resource size.
Deep-sea mining (DSM) for Polymetallic Nodules:
A remotely controlled undersea robot is sent down from a support vessel to dredge and suck polymetallic nodules off the seafloor. In late 2022, TMC successfully demonstrated its mining capabilities by collecting approximately 4500 t of material and extracting 3000 t of nodules with a sustained production rate of 86.4 tonnes per hour during a system test. The company aims for 200 tonnes per hour with additional collector heads and a bigger capacity riser pipe.
Profitability estimates for DSM vary widely.
The Financial Situation:
TMC has a market capitalization of ~$460 million. It incurred a loss of $25.2 million last quarter, with a trailing twelve-month loss amounting to $73 million. Total cash at hand stands at $4 million. The company has the option to access $25 million in additional proceeds from an unsecured credit facility maturing AUG 2025, which remains undrawn, and another $20 million maturing SEPT 2025, of which $2.9 million were drawn in MAR this year.
Pro forma liquidity is ~$49 million. Dept sits at ~$16 million.
The ship should stay buoyant for another 12 months from now, without resorting to measures like dilution.
The International Seabed Authority (ISA):
The International Seabed Authority (ISA) serves as the principal regulatory body overseeing the exploration and exploitation of minerals located on the international seafloor. Established under Article 156 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the ISA is responsible for developing regulations governing these activities.
As of now, the ISA has yet to finalise a rulebook for the industry.
In 2021, TMC, sponsored by Nauru, utilised a regulatory loophole to initiate a process that imposed a two-year deadline on the ISA to establish regulations for DSM within its jurisdiction. With the ISA failing to meet this deadline in 2023, countries are now permitted to apply for mining licences in the absence of official guidelines.
TMC plans to apply for exploitation rights after the ISA session JUL – AUG this year.
The application review process is expected to drag on for 12 months. Production is anticipated to commence in Q1 2026 (revised from Q4 2025).
It is noteworthy that the USA is not a member of the ISA.
Relationship highlight - TMC and Nauru:
Nauru, formerly a prosperous island nation buoyed by abundant phosphate deposits, has faced financial challenges since the depletion of these resources in the 1990s. In recent years, the country has been associated with activities such as money laundering for the Russian mafia and detaining refugees seeking asylum in Australia in conditions widely criticised as inhumane. Additionally, Nauru has been noted for its propensity to alter political allegiances in pursuit of financial benefits, recently ditching Taiwan for China.
The partnership with TMC is hoped to become the largest contributor to Nauru’s GDP, once fully operational, and vital for the country's economic survival.” This is according to Peter Jacob, a former chief of staff for Nauru’s Office of the President who now works as the NORI Country Manager at TMC.
Nauru Ocean Resources has pledged to pay corporate income tax in Nauru, where the current rate stands at 25 percent. Additionally, Nauru will receive a predetermined payment (tbd) for each ton of nodules extracted through mining activities.
Recent Development:
TMC has invested an approximate total of $100 million towards conducting environmental impact assessments as part of the regulatory process for securing mining rights from the ISA. The company submitted the biggest comprehensive dataset on the environmental impacts of DSM as of yet to the ISA, with an even bigger one announced for the ISA’s session JUL this year.
A life cycle assessment done in 2023 by Benchmark Mineral Intelligence suggests TMC’s NORI-D nodule project could outperform land-based routes in all measured environmental categories, including mining, transport, processing and refining.
Several countries, including China, Russia, Norway, Mexico, and the UK, advocate for the advancement of the DSM industry. China, in particular, already asserts claims to deep-sea mineral resources and has already undertaken mineral exploration activities in the international waters of the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean.
On JAN 9 of this year, the Norwegian parliament made a decision to open extensive areas in Arctic waters for DSM activities. In response, the European Parliament passed Resolution B9-0095/2024 in late January, expressing significant environmental concerns regarding Norway's action. The resolution reiterated Parliament's support for a moratorium on DSM and urged the European Commission and Member States to adopt a precautionary approach and advocate for a global moratorium on deep-sea mining, including at the ISA. A total of 24 countries worldwide, including seven European Union (EU) member states (Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden), have voiced their support for a moratorium or suspension of deep-sea mining activities. France has outright banned the practice.
In FEB 2024, the ISA released a streamlined draft of regulations with key areas yet to be “consolidated”.
In MAR, legislation was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives calling for the U.S. to “support international governance of seafloor resource exploration and responsible polymetallic nodule collection by allied partners”, and to “provide financial, diplomatic, or other forms of support for seafloor nodule collection, processing and refining.”
Steve Jurvetson has joined TMCs board in APR.
Risks:
The Secretary-General of the ISA faces reelection in JUL. Michael Lodge, who served two terms, now faces accusations of "interfering with the decision-making process" and "sharing information with mining companies." He's not been nominated by the UK for his third term as before, but by the island nation of Kiribati. I fear Lodge's absence could spell short-term trouble for the sector, given the presence of some fiercely prohibitive candidates.
The recent earnings loss overshot was partly attributed to heightened transportation costs of nodules to a partner facility in Japan for processing. This highlights that the business model faces inherent risks, including the lack of provenness, the novelty of the technology, and the certainty for unforeseen challenges during sustained operations.
A surge in climate change and biodiversity cases indicates, DSM litigation is foreseeable as aggrieved countries, communities, and other stakeholders impacted by DSM can take the ISA, mining companies, and other parties they deem liable to international, regional, and national courts.
Profitability might face additional constraints due to anticipated seabed restoration obligations that are expected to accompany exploitation rights.
Considering the current financial situation and the expected timeframes, there is a risk of dilution due to liquidity challenges by Q3/Q4 2025.
All of these factors are compounded by a highly speculative and politically charged regulatory limbo, where states are beginning to enact regulations on a national level.
Finally, crowned by TMC's management team's prior involvement with Nautilus Minerals and the outcome of Nautilus' deep-sea mining project.
Speculation:
Treating TMC as a mining company at 20% - 50% of its underlying asset’s NPV, the price tag should be $9 - $11. Though TMC is everything but a “traditional” mining company.
Worst Case - a ban on DSM: Considering the lengthy processes of exploration, assessments, applications, and environmental studies, along with the current financial situation, the company may remain operational in its current structure for another 2-3 challenging years, but your investment will plummet to the depths of Hades.
Timelines shift to the future: This could be due to a prohibitive candidate becoming the next secretary-general at the ISA, or environmentally fueled initiatives to delay DSM. The more time passes, the more TMC will feel the urge to squeeze its shareholders.
TMC applies, the ISA misses the deadline again: We’ve come full circle, though with a higher potential. TMC could go to court, start operations as planned or something in between. I expect upside potential from this.
TMC applies, the ISA approves with restoration obligations: Based on the severity of potential outcomes, I anticipate the valuation range to be between $3.4 to $6 until the business model's feasibility emerges.
Bull Case - TMC applies, the ISA approves with minimal to no restoration obligations: Full potential upside is realised, until the business model's feasibility emerges.
Catalyst:
-ISA Vote JUL 2024 -TMC Application for exploitation following ISA session Q3/Q4 2024

How frequently are you using it? Do you just mix it in with your water on a monthly basis or something? Do you also add fertilizer to that same water or skip fertilizer that day? Do you spray it on the leaves and roots? Or soak the plant, or top water?
Do you use it with all your orchids or only the ones that need an extra boost?
So many questions! Please help! I want to do right by my plants! Thank you in advance.

2024.05.14 04:48 TaranMatharu Penalty of the Peach - what the Peaches mean.

Throughout the show, peaches are referenced through the Peach Truck, Victor's love for them, and their until recently neverending nature. We even have Randall say to Bakta "You're a peach". It's clearly part of the origin story, because it's heavily emphasised.
But it's such a vague clue. I've been searching for early Tudor era due to the 1506 date, and my understanding that this all begins when John Cabot sets off for his voyage in Newfoundland in May of 1498.
But peach references for that era are few and far between, they were just a luxury fruit grown in gardens, primarily in France but also England and Italy. It was a perishable good, so it was rarely traded. And peaches would be rot on a voyage, and dried peaches would be very expensive as rations. If anything, they'd have brought peach pits for planting with them, but Newfoundland is far too cold for them to grow - though they may not know that and bring them anyway.
So I searched for more references on the show. And I realised something.
Fatima says "Take your peaches" to Victor twice.
Victor says "No more peaches" several times.
Remember, Fatima says something like, "This place is trying to tell us something, and only some of us are listening closely enough to hear it."
If you look at it, it kind of looks like someone is force feeding someone saying "take your peaches!" and the other begging "no more peaches".
I have been absolutely wracking my brains trying to figure out what it means. And a crazy coincidence made me stumble across a possible answer.
I was almost going to turn in for the night, when I visited this page after searching "peach" "1498"
https://pulcinellapasta.wordpress.com/2014/08/04/peaches-prunus-persica/
There, it mentions a Friar named Girolamo Savonarola, who I recognised from previous research. Primarily because I'm convinced that various condemned to death criminals are secretly headed to Newfoundland, swapped for someone willing to die for them at the last minute. John Cabot, was part of a secretive order called Brotherhood of St. John the Evangelist of Death, who gave alms to condemned criminals. This friar was supposedly burned for heresy in 1498 for making mad prophecies.
But I dismissed him, because I didn't think there'd be two priests on the island (I think Friar Carbonaris, who funded Cabot's voyage, must be there).
In any case, the article said that Girolamo believed that peaches were poisonous. So I searched:
"Girolamo Savonarola" "peach"
And this website came up:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trial_by_ordeal
I instantly clicked - because I am also of the belief that there is a witch trial with various tortures in the origin story too.
Now, the section on peaches and Girolamo Savonarola are completely different. He was in the "by fire" section and the word "peach" was in the "by poison" section. Here's what the peach section said:
The "penalty of the peach" was an ancient ordeal that involved peach pits or their extracts. The pits contain amygdalin, which is metabolized into cyanide.
I am now of the opinion that it is indeed this torture that is being referenced. Imagine if you will, that Cabot and his colonists brought peach pits, as many other colonists did in that era (Virginia was full of peach trees in Jamestown, and the Spanish brought them too). The peach pits wont grow (too cold). They stop planting them.
Later, in the witch trial, Girolamo Savonarola, the mad friar (I now no longer think Carbonaris is the evil priest) force feeds the Witch or someone she cares about, peach pits, knowing they are poisonous.
As a reminder to her in the current timeline, the evil entity/bogeyman feeds Victor only peaches, sending a whole truck full as a reminder to her of what she endured.

2024.05.14 04:47 MSPRC1492 Water takes forever to get hot at bathroom sink. Shower 4’ away gets hot immediately. Why? How to fix it?

Have a 19 year old house which I’ve owned for 4 years. I’ve upgraded faucets from the builder grade stuff since I’ve owned it and this was a problem before, so I know it’s not an issue with the fixture. Both sinks take almost 5 minutes for the water to get hot. The tub and shower are just feet away and both of those heat up within 1-2 minutes. It’s so annoying. I hate letting the water run for 5 minutes to wash my face at night. It doesn’t matter if the shower or tub I s already running and hot- the sink water is still cold and takes almost as long to heat up. Surely the water for tub and sink is coming into that bathroom in the same line, then getting separated somewhere nearby, right? Is this problem because the tub and shower are moving larger amounts of water through the line faster and emptying out the cold water between them and the water heater more quickly? Is there anything I can do to improve it? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I’m not a plumber but I’ve renovated a couple of bathrooms and kitchens and understand the basics of how the water comes into the house to the heater and then to where ever it’s going, and can’t picture what causes this delay in hot water between fixtures that are in the same room.

I’ve been surfing in the PNW for a few years, but considering moving back to the Lake Superior area, where I’m from, to be closer to elderly parents. Looking for an honest assessment of the differences between the two in regard to surfing and whether or not I would regret it. A bit of context:
Will I enjoy lake surfing or will it not really compare? Also, how many days a year would you say the lakes are actually surfable? (I know that’s probably spot dependent)

2024.05.14 04:37 JpBlez5 Be refined by fire

“““I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Christ had come to send a message to the church of Laodicea. The message would rebuke them of their lukewarmness, causing the lord to threatened to spit them out of his mouth. While many may not understand the full context of the verse, “spitting out of his mouth” leaves a bad connotation. What does it mean to be lukewarm, and how do we avoid being spat out?
The city of Laodicea( the location of the church this message was written to) was located between two other cities, Hierapolis( north of it) and Colossae(south of it). Hieapolis was filled with hot springs, heated from a volcanic mountain nearby, and is known for it’s hot springs even today. The people of Hierapolis believed that the hot springs obtained a healing nature, and would use the thermal springs for patients. This obviously makes the water good and useful.
However when water flowed from Hieapolis down to Laodicea, it took so long to do so that the water cooled, turning from hot to lukewarm. So when it came to Laodicea becoming lukewarm, it lost its healing properties, and thus wasn’t useful anymore.
Think of a Christian who’s lost their saltiness. A lukewarm Christian is one who isn’t living for God, but living for the world, and thus useless to him. It’s not someone struggling with sin, but one who fully embraces it, or has backslides into it.
”This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.“ 1 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
If this is you, don’t fret yet, there’s still hope. God didn’t come for the healthy, but the sick. Like all sins, we must repent and turn to God. Not only this, but we must be “refined by fire.
”So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.“ ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Laodicea had a decent amount of gold, seeing they were quite wealthy. But God cares not for ones wealth, but for ones faith. Paul in 1 Peter 1:7 describes faith, which is tested by fire, much more valuable than gold. We must have a living faith in God, but like all living things, it must be made strong through trials and tests.
Laodicea was also famous for its glossy wool. But here Jesus offered pure white garments, representing the covering of sin and putting on righteousness. God’s people must be righteous, or set apart from the world, living like Christ instead of the world.
When we do these things, even if we face struggles, our faith with shine like the brightest flame.

A Dystopian Story ~ written by me (all rights reserved)
Title: Echoes of the Past
A dark, desolate cityscape under a perpetually overcast sky. The skyline is dominated by towering, dilapidated skyscrapers with broken windows and rusted structures. Streets are empty, littered with debris and remnants of a past society. A lone figure in a tattered coat and gas mask walks down the cracked pavement, passing under flickering neon signs and malfunctioning drones hovering overhead. The air is thick with smog, and distant sounds of mechanical whirring and distant explosions echo through the desolate landscape.
In the heart of the city, once called New Eden, the figure trudged through the ruins. They were known simply as "The Seeker," one of the few who dared to venture out of the underground settlements. The Seeker’s mission was to find remnants of old technology, fragments of the world before The Collapse, to piece together a future for the remnants of humanity.
As they walked, the neon signs above flickered messages of a bygone era: “Utopia Awaits!” and “Live the Dream!”—hollow promises from a world that had crumbled under its own weight. The drones, relics of an automated age, now patrolled the skies aimlessly, their once intelligent programming reduced to malfunctioning routines.
The Seeker paused in front of a massive skyscraper, its facade marred by time and conflict. They pushed open the rusted doors, entering the darkened lobby. The air inside was stale, thick with the dust of years. Their flashlight cut through the gloom, revealing scenes of sudden abandonment: papers strewn across desks, chairs overturned, and the skeletal remains of those who hadn’t made it out.
In the silence, a distant explosion rumbled, shaking loose debris from the ceiling. The Seeker moved quickly, heading for the building’s lower levels, where the valuable relics were often found. Each step echoed through the desolate corridors, a reminder of the loneliness that pervaded this forsaken world.
In a forgotten lab, hidden beneath layers of dust and grime, The Seeker found their prize: an old mainframe, still intact. They began the painstaking process of extracting its data, hoping it held blueprints, knowledge, anything that could help rebuild. Hours passed in silence, broken only by the hum of machinery coming to life.
As they worked, The Seeker couldn’t help but wonder about the world that once was. A world of innovation and dreams, now reduced to echoes and ruins. They imagined the people who had walked these streets, lived their lives, and built this city with hope in their hearts.
With the data safely stored, The Seeker made their way back to the surface. The overcast sky greeted them once more, a constant reminder of the world’s desolation. Yet, in the face of ruin, there was a flicker of hope—a belief that the past’s remnants could forge a new future.
The journey back to the settlement was long and arduous, but The Seeker was driven by the promise of tomorrow. As they descended into the hidden depths where humanity clung to survival, they carried with them the echoes of a lost world and the seeds of a new beginning.
The Seeker, known for their solitary missions, had once been part of a larger group called the Preservationists. These individuals had dedicated their lives to collecting and safeguarding remnants of the old world, believing that knowledge was the key to humanity's resurgence. Each member had their specialty—some focused on medicine, others on technology, and a few on cultural artifacts. The Seeker's expertise lay in retrieving technological blueprints and data archives, often venturing into the most hazardous zones to find them.
Years of scavenging had honed The Seeker’s skills. They knew how to navigate the treacherous ruins, avoiding crumbling structures and hidden traps set by other scavengers. Their gas mask was a relic itself, a custom-made piece that filtered out the toxic air and allowed them to breathe in the most contaminated areas. Their coat, though tattered, was lined with pockets and pouches, each containing tools essential for their survival and mission.
As The Seeker walked, they passed landmarks of the old world—the grand library, now a hollow shell of its former self, and the central plaza, once a bustling hub of activity, now eerily silent. Each location held memories, stories, and lessons from a time when humanity thrived. The Seeker often felt a pang of sorrow for the lost potential, the dreams that never came to fruition. But they also felt a sense of duty, a drive to ensure that such dreams could be reborn.
Inside the skyscraper, The Seeker's flashlight illuminated murals and posters, faded but still visible. They depicted scenes of progress and prosperity—visions of flying cars, towering green cities, and interstellar travel. These were the promises of a society that believed it could conquer any challenge, overcome any obstacle. The reality, however, had been far less optimistic. The Collapse had come swiftly, a result of unchecked ambition, environmental neglect, and technological overreach.
In the forgotten lab, The Seeker found more than just the mainframe. There were old journals, handwritten notes, and sketches. These personal items provided a glimpse into the lives of the scientists and engineers who had once worked there. They spoke of late nights, groundbreaking discoveries, and a shared vision for a better future. As The Seeker read through them, they felt a connection to these long-gone individuals, a kinship born of shared purpose.
The extraction process was delicate, requiring precision and patience. The mainframe’s data was encrypted, a safeguard against theft in the chaotic final days of the old world. But The Seeker had encountered similar systems before and knew how to bypass the security measures. As the files began to transfer, they glimpsed blueprints for sustainable energy sources, advanced medical treatments, and even plans for rebuilding infrastructure.
With the data secured, The Seeker made their way back to the settlement, navigating through the darkened streets with practiced ease. The settlement, hidden deep underground, was a stark contrast to the world above. It was a place of warmth and light, where survivors worked together to carve out a new existence. The air was filtered, the water purified, and the crops grown using hydroponic systems. It was a fragile oasis in a desolate world, but it was also a testament to human ingenuity and resilience.
As The Seeker entered the settlement, they were greeted by familiar faces. There was Dr. Elara, the lead scientist, who had been eagerly awaiting the data. Her eyes lit up with hope as The Seeker handed her the storage device. "This could change everything," she said, her voice filled with excitement.
In the common area, children played, their laughter a rare and precious sound. They represented the future, the reason why The Seeker and the others continued their dangerous missions. The Seeker watched them for a moment, a smile forming beneath the gas mask.
Later, as the settlement’s council reviewed the newly acquired data, The Seeker reflected on their journey. The world above was a harsh and unforgiving place, but within the ruins lay the seeds of rebirth. The knowledge and technology of the past, coupled with the determination and spirit of the present, could pave the way for a new dawn.
And so, in the darkness, there was light. In the echoes of the past, there was hope for the future. The Seeker knew that the road ahead would be long and challenging, but they also knew that humanity was capable of rising from the ashes. The city, once called New Eden, might one day thrive again—not as a utopia, but as a symbol of perseverance and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

Recently planted cherry tree looking bad, help!
Bought this Carmine Jewel Cherry and planted in April 10, Vancouver BC (Zone 8).
I've watched on youtube ppl saying it needs to be watered with a galon every day, but i went more like half every other day since we got a couple cold days, didn't want to overwater.. but maybe i did if the soil doesn't drain that well?
Any ideas what i can do to recover, or would it have a chance by itself??

2024.05.14 04:32 burblemedaddy Kook surfer looking for advice for my daughter in the PNW.

Hey yo. Very new surfer here. Spent some time in the San Diego area surfing recently. It was absolutely amazing and I progressed pretty rapidly. It is 100% a passion of mine now.
I have a daughter (12yr old) that is interested now and I want to facilitate that to the max. I'm worried about the cold temp of the water there. I'd like to rent her a 5/4 wetsuite and get her booties. I feel pretty confident at getting her to the point of standing up, but I'm worried about the cold temp turning her off to the sport. Maybe teaching her proper paddling to warm the blood? I just want her to have a good time. I'll buy all the coaching sessions she wants, no prob. Just want to make it awesome from the beginning.

I'll call it a success!
Hello all!
Real quick: After moving into our new home, I struggled a bit getting my starter back to functionality. Couple that with the apprehension of baking in a gas oven versus electric (still using my Lodge Dutch oven), I finally took the leap.
My starter is still a bit young (about 2 weeks), but above are the results. This is also my first batard since I usually use a boule banneton. Finished loaf was soft and slightly tangy.
Recipe is from Pantry Mama https://www.pantrymama.com/small-batch-sourdough-bread/#recipe 250g flour (KAAP) 175g water 50g starter 5g salt
Mix 4-6 stretch and folds 1-2 coil folds Bulk ferment for about 2 hours Cold ferment for roughly 10 hours 450° for 25min 410° for 10-15min
Camera settings need adjustment as these appear underbaked/browned.
I've prepared another batch (doubling the above recipe) and will use the batard banneton again, but just want the loaf a bit bigger.
Tell me what y'all think!
