2018.04.02 06:00 luiz1209 When your friend DMs and it becomes a nightmare what you do ? please help me

Ok this is my first post, so i am sorry for my grammar and spelling as english is not my native language, hope you guys can forgive me for that. Well me and some friends were hanging out and one of them just asked if he could DM the next campaign, sure why not, we went down and made our sheets and had the first session the week after. We would use roll20 as always because we all live apart, so he had access to our sheet too, no big deal right ? Wrong, he went down the sheets and change our backstories without asking or saying anything, mine seemed that were minor things like names and locations, ok i can deal with that. Then we got to actually play, or better putting, roll dice while he narrated. On the first five minutes he made two players almost start a conflict and proceeded to force us on a quest, ok first session group need to get together he is new was expecting that. We went through a brunt down farm to check things out and found a dying man,i an aasimar wizard, our cleric and paladin used their resources to heal the man, we healed him more than 15hp and we were lv 2 so precious resouces there, he just looked at us and said "he died" we checked for poison and disease so... plot convenience i guess, could warned us that our healing were not being effective tho. The rogue said a while after we departed and said "i stab the corpse to make sure he is not faking" well not the best idea but made sense. The group went down a dungeon and we fought a giant snake that had "anti magic scales that nullify casting on contact" ok then im useless now great, we managed to win but we were heavily injuried. Our rogue go to a room and is reduced to 1hp by some kind of sorcerer spirit boy because he stabed a corpse, ok thats a red flag. We got some +3 weapons and armor i and my friend who like me dms regularly told him that this was too much but ok we rolled with it. fast forward to session 3 we arive on my character home town which he was pretty rich as his family had ties with the king, a guard approaches me and ask me to go home as my father anted to see me, ok this is where things start to go south, i arive there and i got this huge revelation that i killed tousands os students on my wizard college including my brother and sister that went to visit me there although they hated me, ok i wrote the explosion that killed everyone great my brother and sister died to they hated me my charater is not good to care that much, and then after the explosion i was sent 10 years to the future(was traped in space time actually).Dude... really, 10years and you didnt thought that was a good idea to at least ask me instead to fuck over my entire backstory?. Ok water under the bridge, we deal with that. From this point on he just raildroaded us and discarted our choices more and more, we went to recover a solar wepon shard from a lv14 for my solar celestial guide that was dying inside me because i spent 10 years traped in space time. We arive there and manage to win against a lich and a death knight because a lv20 ally ex machina, we all felt cheated as we had no chance were forced on the quest and had no reward whatsoever. One of the players permanently lost a arm on the fight, but we got to lv 5 so thats allright. next session two players dropped the table althogether, well ok, i expected that as we all go to college and sometimes we need more time to study. He forced the three of us that were left on a quest that we didnt wanted again, puted us against some homebrew monsters that can only be killed if we sever their members, ok easy enought, the had a lot of hp resistences to all and so on and on, he throwed dozens at us but we managed to fight through and reach the "boss", the straight up cut the paladins arms and legs, great we are gonna die, i got a dvine help from my guide and was able to get him his members back, we fought the boss that were in his words "imune to all controll effects"my mage beign a control focused had a fireball and ray of frost to use, somehow we survived the paladin was unconsious but stable the fighter 1hp and me 1hp things started to blow up and my guide said to me to fly that she would lend me her wings but i would had to chose one of them to die, i refused and went out with both, the dm asked me 3 athlethics checks, rolled high on them, then 5 dexterity checks, crited on 2, fortune was on my side, used my scroll of sending to ask for a bail out from dad as he is a high level caster, we got it and arived safely home, exausted but safely, right ? well he just decided that the paladin died, we were pissed, he was stable and on a safe place, just just said "nah he bleed out", the three of us went heart broken as our characters had developed a bond. next session the paladin player arived with his side character that the dm already had buffed with things outside the class, which made everyone bitter. We tried to give the paladin a funeral, he didnt let us, we tried to help the people that lost their houses on the attack that happened wile we were out, he said the mmy house with all the guards the ransacked after i invied them to take shelter from the cold, not just clothes but all the library books, took that with a grain of salt but said my character learned arcane lock after that happend, yes i used my level up spell to get arcane lock for roleplay reasons, se spent a week recovering and mean while my charater worked on two rings that are like a shitty bag of holding which we would use as a wallet as it have just 3 cubic meters of storage, had material for two he said i fail the other and lost the components, ok fair i guess, sent to the princess, my character childhood friend. not 5 min later he railroad us to another quest, we said "no not interested good day to you sir", he didnt care and put us there anyway, gave use a jack sparrow compass to find some dead guy remains, we asked why, he ignored, i said that i would identify the compass, something that seemed fair, he didnt not only said that my character didnt tried he treatened to had the lv20 npc try to kill me, again, he does that every time we do something that he doesnt want, we were sent to the north in the middle os the ice, he said tha our potions froze our, food froze and we would soon freeze too, no one was having fun besides our party banter. we wanted to end that quickly as possible, as the group passed from a statue i cast detect magic as we were sure that this was another ridicullus encounter that would let us dying. Nothing, 5min after the statues attacks us from our backs, ok may had something inside or be some kind of contruct, no we checked all of that from the paranoia, he breaks moutain and throw us from the cliff, i am a protector aasimar rested and used my radiant soul to grab my friends, "you lost your celestial power", what ? , "yeah your wings fade and you fall", but i didnt used today , "nah you used a week ago still didnt got back", we were all pissed an i just got over with and said that if he wants to mine my character class because he doesnt know how to deal with someone outsmarting him is one thing, but making we be impaled lose a member every encounter is a bit overkill, but when you start to take racial features and changing sheets with out consent, that is to much for me. He quited the chat and the room and we started to take it all out we were pissed about all of this, we tried to talk to him before but he always went "im the dm im always right, if you dont like it it's your problem". we have another campaign going which i dm every two weeks and he plays a orc barbarian, he did things that displeased his god and he was casted out, he wined about, went next session and murdered a old man in cold blood in front of the guard, and proceded to wine that he was thrown in jail and offered a way out. this week he just started to be childish about the situation and indirectly call me out on pointing rules and saying that on my view if we are not following rules i got pissed when they are having fun. Which i do tend to grasp a lot of the rules when im dming as i like to give my players the most fair game possible and i do house rule things that are a pain to track like carryng weight is for us, but that was just ridiculous, he was disregarding everything to deal us unfair situations and make us miraculously surviving just for drama. Now we are all burn out we dont want to bail out as we love our characters, but he is just being the worst, acting like a child and thinking that we are there to hear his story and we dont matter anyway. I would like the opnion of people more experienced with this kind of behavior as although we are kind of experienced in the game this is the first time this happens. also sorry for the long text.

2016.03.11 08:42 Misogynist-ist More body spray reviews because why the hell not

I've got like twelve things to write up (or more, I'm bad at counting unless knitting stitches are involved) so let's just do this. Gonna start with the ones I don't like so much.
Deep Steep Rosemary-Mint Body Mist- so this is my one definitively herbal fragrance, and it's extremely pleasant. Downside? Lasts half an hour at most. I could see it making a good pillow mist if you're into that sort of thing. It smells very natural. I see there's geranium in it too, which isn't listed as a note, but probably gives it a touch of flowers. Such poor longevity that it's not worth it as a fragrance. But come summer I'll see if this works as a 4711-style refresher on a hot day. Otherwise, though, just look for an actual perfume.
Make Up Store Fragrance Library: Less is More Body Mist- I got this as the series was being discontinued. I'm generally fan of MUS cosmetics and liked the smell of this one in-store, but once I got it home, it disappointed me. What the cosmetic-induced equivalent of beer goggles? When they say less, they really mean it. There's not much to this but sour pineapple and some other fruit. It doesn't last very long- maybe an hour and a half at most. I would've loved this when I was six. The black bottle with orange creamsicle print is nice and classy, and I have to give a shout-out to the sleek jar that the accompanying body butter came in. But the scent is just not my thing.
Special shout out to Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel for possibly being one of the worst things I've ever tried. I had a mini shower gel that took me three years to use because I hated it so much. Do you like vanilla? I wish I had known you three years ago so I could've given this to you rather than feel guilted in using it. So sweet it literally nauseated me. Vanilla and absolutely nothing else.
The Body Shop Grapefruit Body Spray- It's grapefruit. Sure, it's a nice, natural-smelling grapefruit, but that's not all that hard to do. I should layer this one (it might go well with that One G below), but on its own, it's just too simple. One note. Grapefruit.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Spray- This is a sweet white floral. Again, too simple for my tastes. It lasts well, though.
Coco de Mer Edp- This is by Elina Med, Adelante or Pacogi depending on where you get it. I got it at a local 'cheap' department store when it was on sale. I've got four of these, and only one is particularly appealing. I think, but am not sure since I haven't smelled the original and can't find dupe info, that this is supposed to be Coco Mademoiselle. It sounds good on paper, but I get sharp alcohol, men's aftershave, berries, and the smell of my melting eyeballs. Something in this irritates me. It doesn't last long and turns sour on me. Major thumbs down. I want to like the idea of the scent but the execution is terrible.
One G Edp- Same company. This is supposed to be Lady Million. Again, a good idea, and I like the general idea of it. But there's a sharp, alcohol, 'cheap perfume' smell that I always swear isn't a thing. Then, after swearing that, I smell a scent like this and realize it totally is a thing. Once the alcohol settles, though, I get a slightly woody, slightly citrusy scent. It doesn't project very much. It's alright, though, and not repugnant or anything. Still, I wish I'd saved the €2.50.
Light and Blue Edp- Guess which one this is trying to be. Yeah, Light Blue. I had a tiny vial of light blue that I enjoyed, and am kicking myself that I once gave away a 5ml sample bottle I had because I didn't appreciate it at the time. This one smells weirdly like cotton candy but there's something sour that tickles the nose. Not close to the target scent at all. The projection and lasting power are (unfortunately) better than the other two I've already described. Should've known better than to try anything else from this brand, except...
D'vine Edp- This wants to be J'adore. I own another clone in the form of La Rive's In Love, and was very surprised by this. Good projection- I've got some on my wrist right now and can smell as I type- and decent lasting power for a super cheap spray, up to four hours or so. And you know what? This is better than La Rive. La Rive's was soapy and didn't have that warm base that I was looking for. D'Vine has more oomph, less soap, and more warmth. The pear and florals are still there, and the scent has more body and complexity than La Rive's interpretation. The bottle's also decently classy. It's closer to the target scent, which I HAVE smelled, and makes me think I'd actually like the real deal.
So, with one exception, I wasn't too keen on those. On to the ones I like:
Herbina Body Mist in Melon Love- This was an impulse purchase on a day when I'd been walking around for hours in town and was caught out with no scent in my bag! This regularly goes for €6 for 100ml, which is ludicrous, but I got it for about half price. There are two other scents, chocolate and strawberry, that scream MY FIRST PERFUME, but this one is a bit more grown-up. There's melon and some tangy citrus: at least orange and lemon. It's like the taste of a Watermelon Jolly Rancher (don't even bring up the Jolly Rancher post) but not overpoweringly sweet. It's very nice on a spring day or as a 'beach' scent. The lasting power on this one is pretty great for a body spray, too. I'm talking three to four hours, and sometimes I've even detected it on my clothes the next day. Looks like Berner is the parent company, which is Finnish. I thought this might be a rebrand of another company, but looks like it's only available here.
H&M Melon Mango Body Spray- This was, I think, €2. I keep it in my backpack for when I need a refresher, but it's not something I'd wear on its own. More sour and less interesting than the Herbina melon spray.
Seppälä Mango Tango body spray- I think this was €3 or €4 on sale, and it's similar to Island Rush but more on the fruity side. No coconut here, really. It's green, sweet, and fruity. Refreshing but not over the top. Perhaps a bit young for me but good for lighter days, and for days like today where I'm throwing a middle finger in the air at the weather, which refuses to acknowledge that it should be more springy.
Avon Senses Romantic Garden of Eden Moisturizing After Shower Mist- I like putting on lotion but hate the feeling of it. This word salad's formula is nice and thin, so it's spreadable, but it still moisturizes decently. I don't feel sticky, but I don't feel parched. And the scent! I get roses, apple, maybe peony, maybe lily, and something herbal. This is a floral/fruity scent with BASIL in it! And it works, it totally works. I got two of these for €5 and am blasting through them. I've probably used a quarter of one 100ml spray in a week. I probably won't repurchase but I'll sure enjoy the ride as long as it goes on. And go on it does. I get whiffs of this in the afternoon when I move around if I've put it on in the morning. I didn't expect to like this so much, but I do. It's not exactly sophisticated, but it's got an interesting twist. I think Avon did a good job putting thought into their newest stuff.
Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods Body Spray- Remember when Black Amethyst was a thing, and how awesome it was? This is decently similar, from what I remember. Amber is the main note. It's sparkly and fizzy. It's sweet but not cloying. This puts me in mind of drinking sparkling wine at Thanksgiving dinner. There's a crispness to it, that sparkling element, that does actually make me think of walking through woods. It's definitely one of my autumn scents. I've used this one ever since it first came out and though it's not in my top 5, I definitely like it.
Bath and Body Works Pink Chiffon Body Spray- There was a period where I wore this every day for months, along with the shower gel and lotion. I get peonies, cotton candy, berries, and a slightly powdery base, maybe some musk. That base is important, because it keeps this from being a kiddie scent. I don't often feel super feminine, but this is a super feminine scent. Good for those girly days, when they happen.
Victoria's Secret Island Rush- This is what I wear when I go to the beach. It's pomelo and coconut water, and that's what you get. Slightly tart citrus and sweet coconut. Simple but so evocative of summer and fruity girl drinks with umbrellas in them that I can't help but love it. Might go well layered over some gardenia, not sure. Gotta give it a try. This works very well with my skin chemistry.
Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves- So years ago, I used B&BW water lily, the exact name of which I don't remember. I loved it. It was green and crisp and floral and nowadays totally not the kind of thing I go for. Rainkissed Leaves isn't exactly the same, but it's the closest thing there is in the modern lineup. You can see this make an appearance at the semi-annual B&BW sale. I have the shower gel and lotion as well. It doesn't last as long as the old water lily used to. I get maybe four hours at most before feeling the need to refresh. But it's cool, crisp, and green, with that tangy punch I liked in water lily.
That's all for today. I'm starting to run out of cheap scents to review! but I do still have some Yves Rocher perfumes, and of course the Real Stuff.

2012.12.27 18:47 tachyons22 When visiting my parents I discovered a fridge/rack of wines in the cellar. Can anyone help identify which ones are good, bad, and when they need to be consumed?

Hi so as the title states I'm currently visiting my parents during holiday and realised that they don't really care about the wines in the cellar. There are quite a few, and we'd like to know the status on them. I figured you fine folks at wine would be able to help us out! Here's the list:

2011.01.30 06:59 veggie124 D'vine Wine. Highly recommended.

If any of you guys like wine, I would suggest going to D'vine wine. It just opened up and has rather reasonable prices for good wine. A very laid back atmosphere with very nice staff. It is located at 82nd and Quaker right next to Fox and Hound. http://dvinewineusa.com/
