2024.05.19 13:48 Even-Confidence3820 PLS HELP!! Black Screen

Hey!
So recently my screen has been turning black out of nowhere and usually I just turn my pc off and on again and it fixes itself, but yesterday it completely stopped working when I was on Unity. I was still able to hear and move my mouse around (I was screen sharing to friends and they could hear me and see my mouse moving) but I couldn’t get the display to work.
It worked when I plugged an HDMI cable (not display port which is the one I usually use) to the motherboard, but the frames in general was really bad and my friend said I was probably using integrated graphics.
I took out and plugged my GPU back in and it works, but it black screens again when I have Unity open for more than 5 minutes (although it wasn’t laggy anymore and my frames were normal, unlike when I plugged it into my motherboard).
I’ve reinstalled the AMD softwares and updated drivers, but I noticed that I can’t choose my refresh rate anymore in the Windows 11 settings, and it still black screens occasionally, even without Unity open. I’ve had this pc since January and it only started last week.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D GPU - XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6800 Motherboard - MSI Pro B650S Wifi ATX AM5

2024.05.19 13:48 commonTravel Z400 - Rent or buy?

I'm getting my license on 5/28 and want to ride mostly for commuting in Tokyo (40 mins one way). I plan to move back home in January so I can either buy a used one and resell it, or rent it from MeRide. Anyone have experience with either of these?
My guess is if I buy used from like Bike Kan then try to resell on like Y Auctions the bike will have ended up costing between 100,000-200,000 yen. Does anyone have experience with selling used bikes here and how long/difficult that process is?
The rental from MeRide for 7 months is 283,360 including tax & insurance, and the shop it ships to is a 5 min bicycle ride from where I live.

2024.05.19 13:18 kaithemightypotato [PC][<2013] Night racing game with realistic graphics

Platform(s): PC (Windows 7/ Vista)
Genre: Street Racing
Estimated year of release: 2012?
Graphics/art style: Realistic, bright lights, reflections, neon lights, night
Notable characters: NA
Notable gameplay mechanics: Car appearances can be customized, not sure if there is nitro mechanics? Arcadey style gameplay.
Other details: I remember playing this on my dad's old Windows Vista laptop. The graphics were superb at the time, cars have shiny reflections and looks super realistic (might be nolstagia). One thing I remember the most is that you can add neon lights underneath the car. If I remember correctly you start with a KIA and another car brand. I think it is not a triple-A release like the Need for Speed franchises, but an indie game which you can download it off windows store or something.

2024.05.19 13:18 pm_ur_DnD_backstory Did I drop a nap too early? (7 months)

I know there's lots of signs of when to drop a nap, but are there signs you dropped a nap too soon? My 7 month old was on a good streak of sleeping 7p-7a with 2-3 wakes which was just fine with me. We dropped to 2 naps about 2 weeks ago when he was showing all the signs of wanting to drop a nap, and he started doing longer naps when we dropped so I thought it was a success. The last 3 days he's woken up at 5:30 and wants to be up for the day. I'm concerned I've pushed wake windows too long for his age. He currently does close to 3/3/4 with sometimes a shorter window in the morning or a longer one at night but not usually more than a half hour swing. So he's getting about 2.5 hours of day sleep and 10 hours of night sleep on average. He also has started fighting bedtime HARD. Previously he would fall asleep independently in under 10 minutes but now he will scream. His bedtime is about 7 pm and our routine is feed, quiet play with some music, diaper, jammies, book and into crib awake. I'm not sure what is causing the early wakes, any advice is appreciated!

This usually happens but I usually get past it by using my manual save option but this time all my autosaves and manual saves crashes when I try to load it in. I have made the stupid mistake of making one manual save of this world even tho I knew this happens. It might have to do this is a cracked version of the game I downloaded but I would like to try get my world back since I have around 130 hours in it :')

2024.05.19 13:06 No-Explorer-936 7 month nap query

Hi,
I have twins that are now 7 months and 1 week old (born at 37 weeks). They have never been great nappers in the day, with the majority of naps being no longer than 30 minutes (sometimes an hour for the lunch time nap). At night we have a good bedtime routine in place and they go down at just after 7.
One thing we have struggled with is them getting to sleep independently. They tend to fall asleep on us and then we put them down. We've found twins so tricky from this point of view as they simply constantly wake each other up if left in the cot when awake. When you are severely sleep deprived, if it means taking a couple of minutes of them sitting on you then so be it. We know we need to focus on independent sleeping soon though.
They don't sleep too bad at night. Still waking for a night feed at about 1.30am. they require settling a couple of times which usually involves putting the dummy back in.
Naps have tended to be about 9am, 12pm and 3.15. however, the last couple of days they literally awoke after 10 minutes at the morning nap. Is this them telling us they are ready to switch to 2 naps and lengthen that wake window? It's strange as they go down quite easily but then wake quickly. They were slow to drop to 3 naps so I'm surprised they are ready for 2.

2024.05.19 12:58 nuhalsharafi315 is my boot partition set up correctly?

I've been trying to reinstall grub on my 2tb SSD cuz I accidentally misplaced it in the 500GB SSD but I keep running into errors with every solution I try.
This is the last error I got when trying run grub-install
https://www.reddit.com/linuxquestions/comments/1cux35d/error_reinstalling_grub/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I've also tried rescutux from https://www.supergrubdisk.org/ which I couldn't get to run because of non-free firmware then uninstallable dependencies.

anyways, I'm now suspecting that my boot partition is just set up wrong since I can never get it to work

I noticed that the disklabels are different (dos vs gpt) and the boot partition on the 500gb SSD is viewed as EFI system but on the 2tb SSD is EFI (FAT-12/16/32), could this be the issue? if so where do I look for a solution?

🔗Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Black Ir-E Crossbow Scope with LED Illumination

https://preview.redd.it/3qq4og626d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc7676684001ccf5ae92a483625cebd5991def58
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. This black 1021 model was a great addition to my hunting gear, providing exceptional clarity thanks to its multicoated optics and 1-inch mono tube construction. The fast focus eyepiece is a game-changer, allowing me to quickly adjust my sight even when on the move.
One feature that stood out was the illuminated cross-hair reticle, which came in both blue and red. It was perfect for low-light situations, making it easier for me to spot my target. I appreciated the adjustment click value of 0.5 inches at 100 yards, as it gave me accurate and consistent shot adjustments.
However, there were a few downsides to this otherwise great scope. The exit pupil was smaller than I would have liked, making it a bit more challenging to see the cross-hair reticle at times. Additionally, the scope's weight was lighter than expected, which might not have been ideal for everyone.
Overall, I'm happy with my experience using the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. It's a quality product with some small drawbacks, but its pros certainly outweigh the cons. If you're in the market for a reliable crossbow scope, this one is definitely worth considering.

🔗Mil-Spec Detachable AR-15 Carry Handle

https://preview.redd.it/6d7ydxc26d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ee10f8948f8cbfd7095ce367789dcf067a5aeed
I recently had the chance to try out this detachable carry handle for an AR-15 rifle. The black finish perfectly matched the rest of my gun, and the Mil-Spec construction added a level of durability I hadn't experienced before. Attaching and detaching it was a breeze, and it blended well with my existing red dot sight.
However, I did find that it added a bit of weight to the overall gun, which I noticed especially after carrying it for extended periods of time. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone looking to add a reliable carrying handle to their AR-15 setup.

🔗National Geographic Handheld Telescope - CF600, 50mm Aperture, Explore the Stars

https://preview.redd.it/ciylb7o26d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3836466afdba226d7889d9609c4cde2d57c1748
The National Geographic CF600 Carbon Fiber telescope has been my trusty companion for some stargazing sessions. Its sleek black carbon fiber design not only looks cool but is sturdy enough to handle the wear and tear of my eager fingers. The scope's 50mm lens and focal length of 600mm provide a great starting point for anyone interested in amateur astronomy, allowing me to get a decent view of the moon and some of the brighter stars in the night sky.
One of the telescope's standout features is the alt-azimuth mount and tripod combo. It's smooth and easy to use, making it simple for me to move the scope up, down, and side to side while scanning the sky. I appreciate the two included eyepieces, which offer a range of magnification options, making the scenery even more intricate and detailed.
However, my experience hasn't been entirely rosy. The tripod and pan handle could have been more robust. I found that they tended to wobble and shake, not necessarily due to the weight of the telescope but the vibration of my hands as I adjusted the scope. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's a noticeable drawback.
Overall, the National Geographic CF600 Carbon Fiber telescope is a great first telescope for the aspiring astronomy enthusiast in need of a simple and stylish tool to explore the night sky. With a few improvements, it could offer an even more enchanting starry-eyed experience.

🔗Versatile 50mm APO Astrograph Guide Scope with Finder Stalk and T-Threads

I've been using the Sky-Watcher EvoGuide 50DX as my guide scope for a few weeks now, and let me tell you, it's been quite the journey. The first thing that struck me was the stunning contrast of the images it delivered. The ED glass really does its job in providing those deep, rich views of the stars.
The finder stalk and V-style mounting rail made it a breeze to attach this little gem to my bracket. It was a smooth process and really made me feel like a pro astronomer. Although it's not a huge scope, its focal length of 242mm and f/4.8 aperture have proven to be a great match for my astrophotography.
The built-in T-threads are also a bonus. With an optional adapter, I can easily transform it into a low-focal length astrograph. It's perfect for those times when I want to change up my observing style.
However, there have been a few hiccups. Sometimes, the centering screws seem to play too loose, making it a bit of a challenge to get the telescope perfectly aligned with the mount. But overall, it's been a great addition to my stargazing setup.

🔗Portable 40x60 Monocular Telescope with Smartphone Holder and Tripod

As someone who's spent countless hours enjoying the great outdoors, I can confidently say that the Pankoo Monocular Telescope has become one of my go-to accessories. While hiking, I used it to observe the mesmerizing birdlife, and during a camping trip, I utilized its tripod to observe the night sky. The sharp, clear imagery that I saw through this telescope made every experience more unforgettable. However, there's one drawback – the product could have been easier to handle if it came with a carry handle.
This 40x60 monocular is no stranger to diverse environments, making it suitable for every age as well as numerous outdoor activities. Climbing, hiking, driving, racing, traveling, sightseeing – this telescope is the perfect companion for them all! The added features, such as the smartphone holder and tripod, make it even more convenient to use on the go. The accompanying velvet bag, dust cover, and cleaning cloth ensure that your telescope stays pristine and ready for your next adventure. The user manual provided makes it easy to understand how to operate the telescope, completing the package. Overall, the Pankoo Monocular Telescope is a must-have for anyone eager to explore the world around them, but just remember to add a carry handle for optimal ease of use!

As a hunting enthusiast, I've used the Simmons 15-45x60 Venture Black FMCWPTripodHard/Soft Case spotting scope for several months, and it has proven to be a reliable option. The fully-multi coated optics deliver a bright image, even in low-light conditions, which is crucial when hunting at dawn and dusk. The scope's sturdy tabletop tripod with a built-in window mount ensures a stable viewing experience.
One feature that stood out is the hard plastic case that safely stores the scope and tripod. The soft carrying case is a plus for easy transportation in the field. The lens has excellent clarity, making it great for identifying and tracking game at varying distances. However, I noticed that the eye relief can be uncomfortable when using higher magnification levels.
Overall, the Simmons 15-45x60 Venture Black FMCWPTripodHard/Soft Case is a solid spotting scope option for hunters looking for affordability without sacrificing performance. The accessories make it a convenient and complete package for outdoor adventures.

🔗Klein Tools ET16 Borescope for Android Devices with Removable Carry Handle and 10-Foot Gooseneck Cable

https://preview.redd.it/7rhlctg46d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34d49bf9bcafdafdd9b2aedd2e6b9010688f4d2d

I recently tried the Klein Tools ET16 Borescope for Android devices, and my experience was quite interesting. The product features a 10-foot (3m) armored gooseneck cable, which is a great addition for extended reach. However, I noticed that the camera seemed a bit tricky to operate with one hand while holding the phone in the other.
One of the highlights of the product is its waterproof IP67 9 mm camera, which captures high-quality 640 x 480 pixel images and videos. I had no issues sharing these images and videos via text or email using the Klein Tools App available on Google Play store.
While the borescope app is available on Google Play store, I found that some users experienced difficulties in connecting the device. I personally didn't face such an issue, but I noticed that the app didn't require any additional charging as it runs off the phone battery.
Overall, my experience with the Klein Tools ET16 Borescope was mixed. On one hand, the product's features worked well and helped me capture images and videos effortlessly. However, the issue with the app not working for some users is a concern that the company needs to address. Despite the minor drawbacks, I still found the product to be useful for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike.

The compact, lightweight construction of this top handle, made of aluminum alloy and silica gel, is a game changer for those of us who don't want to be weighed down during our shoots.
One of the standout features of this handle is its sleek, Black Mamba-inspired shape, which not only exudes style, but also provides a smooth feel in my hands. However, I did notice that the top handle could use a few locking mechanisms to secure it more firmly on the device. Other than that, this top handle has become an essential part of my camera setup, truly elevating my photography experience.

🔗Lightweight Carbon Fiber Shovel Handle for Ultimate Digging Experience

I recently tried out this Carbon Fiber Travel Sand Scoop Shovel Handle Universal Lightweight Pole for Beach Metal Detecting Treasure Hunting Long Tube Rod and I must say, it was quite the handy tool. The carbon fiber material made it both robust and lightweight, which was a great combination for a tool that would be used for long periods of time.
One of the standout features was the multi-functionality of the tool. It could be used for sand scooping, metal detecting and other activities, making it a great universal choice. The lightweight long pole provided a comfortable grip that was not easily slipped from my hand, ensuring a secure hold on the scoop.
The scoop itself was quite handy, sifting out sand and dirt with ease, leaving just the metal object behind. Suitable for use on the beach, in water, or with a metal detector, this pole ensured optimal performance even when used for extended periods of time.
Overall, I was quite impressed with the product and would definitely recommend it for anyone who enjoys gardening and outdoor activities.

🔗Movcam Lens Carry Handle for Arri Alura Lenses

https://preview.redd.it/qlo50ah56d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7e5e93feb2a8520b793ccf0f3d23552b9a43cd2
The Movcam Lens Carry Handle became an essential addition to my filmmaking kit. This ergonomic and robust handle perfectly complemented my Arri Alura 45-250mm lens, providing the perfect balance of comfort and stability. The handle easily attached to the lens, allowing for smooth and seamless transitions during shooting without the need for any additional tools or attachments.
However, the Movcam Lens Carry Handle also had some minor drawbacks that needed to be addressed. First, the grip felt quite slick, making it difficult to achieve a secure hold when shooting in wet or slippery conditions. Second, the handle was not adjustable, making it challenging to accommodate different users or scenarios. These drawbacks did not significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the product, as I found the Movcam Lens Carry Handle to be a reliable and valuable companion during my film endeavors.

Another highlight is the included smartphone adapter, which captures the wonders you see in the eyepiece and saves them for future exploration. And, for those who want to take their stargazing on the go, a travel case is provided, making this telescope a must-have for any space enthusiast.

🔗DJI RS Series Handheld Gimbal Briefcase Handle Review

Imagine a cinematographer armed with a sleek new tool — the DJI Briefcase Handle for RS Series. As someone who's tested it in real life, let me share my experience. Picture this: on a challenging set, this unassuming handle becomes your guardian angel, providing the extra stability and comfort you need for those low-angle shots.
The first thing that stood out to me was the handle's design. It was lighter and smaller than I expected, making storage a breeze. The compatibility with the DJI RS series handheld gimbals is a breath of fresh air, and the lack of additional tools required for mounting is a huge plus.
However, I did notice a small issue with the locking mechanism. If not tightened properly, it could potentially lead to an expensive drop. But this is a minor issue, and it's clear that the handle provides more stability and ease of use than I've experienced with other gimbals. It's become an essential part of my kit.
Overall, the DJI Briefcase Handle for RS Series gets a solid 4.5 stars from me. It's an investment worth making for those seeking professional-quality, low-angle shots.

🔗UZI 5x20 Periscope: Adjustable Height, Durable and Weatherproof, with Detachable Handle and Carrying Case

https://preview.redd.it/vbtzisi66d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f68460a5111d628f84e1ce5e10faaa699095dcf
In my experience, the UZI 5x20 Periscope has been a handy tool for surveillance and exploration. Made of durable anodized aluminum housing, this periscope offers a sleek and weatherproof design. The glass lenses and prisms provided a sharp and clear view, allowing me to see in detail from a distance.
One feature that stood out is the focusing eyepiece, which made it easy to adjust the focus based on the distance to the object I was observing. However, the lack of a detachable handle made it more difficult to hold and maneuver the periscope confidently when using it for extended periods.
The height adjustment was a great addition, allowing me to see above and around obstacles for an improved view. The carrying case with a shoulder strap also made it convenient to transport and store the periscope when not in use.
Overall, the UZI 5x20 Periscope has been a reliable tool for my daily needs, but its lack of a detachable handle and potential for some difficulty in assembling the scope properly were noticeable drawbacks.

🔗Compact NATO Top Handle for Select Sony Cameras

https://preview.redd.it/kugs2wv66d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71d78bb5ab171d5c52f7a26dfee5730d8935f3ab
This Compact Nato Top Handle from Tilta has been a game-changer in my daily video shooting routine. It's a comfortable and ergonomic addition to my Sony a7 IV full camera cage, providing a secure attachment. The aluminum and stainless steel construction adds a sleek touch to my setup, and the black finish blends in perfectly.
One of the highlights of this handle is its compatibility with select Tilta cages, making it a versatile accessory. The multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting points come in handy when attaching external accessories. Even the front cold shoe mounting point is a great feature. However, I couldn't help but notice an issue with the rear Arri mount holes. They appear to have the smaller, non-standard screw, making it incompatible with some accessories I wanted to use.
Despite this minor setback, the overall experience with this handle has been positive. Its compact design suits small cameras well, and the Nato rails on the other side add an extra layer of stability. The aluminum and stainless steel construction not only adds ruggedness but also gives it a premium look. So, if you're looking for a comfortable handle with a minimalist design, this Tilta handle is worth considering.

🔗Portable Telescope Carry Handle for VC, VMC, and Refractor Models

https://preview.redd.it/zbwctfm76d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=066302ff63901428728eac97293d54c700f7228e
As an enthusiastic amateur astronomer, I've been keeping a close eye out for accessories and tools that make handling my telescope smoother and more enjoyable. That's why when I stumbled upon the Vixen Optics Metal Carry Handle, I couldn't resist giving it a try.
From the get-go, this little handle seemed like a practical and sturdy solution to make transporting my telescope much more manageable. The metal construction provided me with the reassurance of durability, not to mention it offered a perfect balance of weight distribution.
However, it wasn't until closer inspection that I noticed a few essential details. For starters, the handle was designed solely for specific telescope models (VC, VMC, and refractor types), and it appeared that not every telescope would be compatible. Additionally, it came with only one screw, and the lack of a multi-tool was somewhat disappointing.
Despite these minor quibbles, I found the Vixen Optics Metal Carry Handle to be a worthwhile investment. It has greatly streamlined my stargazing experience, giving me peace of mind as I transport my telescope to different locations with ease.

Buyer's Guide

https://preview.redd.it/omrinrg96d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dbb0727523820de16b9d31a3c3aaea2991d8ce4
When it comes to scope selection, a carry handle scope is a versatile and practical choice for many shooters. Whether you're an avid hunter, target shooter, or competitive marksman, a carry handle scope can provide you with a reliable and accurate sighting system. In this buyer's guide, we'll discuss the features and considerations that are important when selecting a carry handle scope. We'll also provide some general advice to help you make an informed decision when choosing the right scope for your needs.

Features

https://preview.redd.it/va64q2l96d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60454f9b896fde2586b173e8e1723a59ac1a9bc5

Carry Handle Design

A carry handle scope should have a strong and durable carry handle that allows for easy and comfortable carrying of your firearm. Look for a handle that is ergonomically designed and made from a material that provides a good grip, such as rubber or polymer. The scope should also have a solid mount that securely attaches the scope to your firearm, ensuring a stable and aligned sight picture.

Lens Quality

https://preview.redd.it/raeaumy96d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f352a4b5b4b3f5e62030ff53a2a3a2f14781994
The quality of the lenses in a carry handle scope is essential for accurate and clear sighting. Look for a scope with high-quality lenses made from low-dispersion glass, which reduces chromatic aberration and provides a crisp and clear image. The lenses should also be fully multi-coated to minimize glare and improve light transmission. This will result in a brighter, clearer, and sharper image, even in low-light conditions.

Magnification and Objective Lens Size

The magnification and objective lens size of a carry handle scope are important factors to consider. The magnification determines how much the image is magnified, while the objective lens size affects the amount of light that enters the scope. A scope with a larger objective lens will typically provide a brighter image, while higher magnification allows you to see targets at greater distances. Choose a scope with the appropriate magnification and objective lens size based on your shooting needs and environment.

https://preview.redd.it/u4haf5ma6d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bed87eef69027bbe9aee804c903f7fe195cd408

Considerations

Budget

As with any purchase, budget is an important consideration when shopping for a carry handle scope. Higher-end scopes will typically offer better optics, more advanced features, and a more robust construction. However, there are also many quality scopes available within a lower price range. Consider your budget and the priorities for your shooting needs when selecting a carry handle scope.

Purpose and Environment

The purpose and environment in which you will be using your carry handle scope are also important factors to consider. Hunters may require a scope with a greater magnification range and more advanced features for precise shot placement, while target shooters and competitive marksmen may prioritize clarity and accuracy at a fixed range. The environmental conditions you will be shooting in, such as light levels and weather, should also be taken into account when selecting a carry handle scope.

Advice

When looking for a carry handle scope, it's essential to read reviews and do your research. Talk to other shooters, consult with a professional at your local shooting or outdoor store, and read online forums and reviews to get an idea of what to expect from different scopes. Be sure to properly test the scope in your environment before making a final decision, and always follow proper scope mounting and care procedures to ensure the best performance and longevity.
As with any purchase, be sure to choose a carry handle scope from a reputable manufacturer or retailer. This will help ensure that you are getting a quality product with reliable performance. Lastly, don't forget to factor in the cost of additional accessories, such as scope covers, sunshades, and mounts, which may be necessary for optimal performance and protection of your scope.

2024.05.19 12:50 EvilEmperorZurrgg Concerned About Parents Using A Work Computer For Personal Things

So for around 7 years now my parents have been using a MacBook computer that my dad got from his work for personal things, such as making purchases, logging into google and sending emails, as well as tax documents and legal documents. I never really thought about it until recently, as we have had the computer since I was young, but I’m scared now that this may not be a good idea. I don’t even know if my Dad works at that company anymore, but i’m scared that there may be spyware on the computer that can monitor everything we do and give away our personal information. I want to download everything on that computer to an external hardrive to a new windows computer, however, I am scared to because I don’t know if doing that could cause potential spyware (which I don’t know if it exists or not for sure but im scared that it does) to spread to that computer.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that my dads work account doesn’t seem to be on the computer anymore, it is only my moms personal account that is on there. So I am not sure if that effects anything.

2024.05.19 12:37 Electronic_Can_3268 Earliest Kronos?

So I finally got around to repasting and cleaning my old elite (I had played through a few games before I knew renewing the paste was a thing) and I noticed something interesting. Everyone says Kronos models started in September of 2009, but mine was made on august 7 of 2009 and is a Kronos. Guess that is an inexact guideline, but I'm happy to learn my 360 is a true tank!

2024.05.19 12:20 TLunchFTW Remote Desktop issues?

So I have a constant transcode, and running RDP seems to mess with this. I notice it switches how some things in the PC run. Like sound output only consists of remote audio, and my video device is "virtual." The problem I have is the player loading a 24/7 stream seems to have an issue where it falls out of sync. This problem did not seem to happen with chrome remote desktop. However, chrome remote desktop has it's own issues. To understand this, you need to know my setup. My setup is two pcs, one using all three monitors, and the other is the remote pc. It uses a DP to HDMI connection to one of those three monitors, but on another input. I leave the remote connection open 24/7 on one of my multiple desktops (the ctrl + win+ arrow stuff. I don't know what to refer to it as). But, with chrome, if I switch to that desktop, it will hold the windows key. So, if I go to type in the remote desktop, sometimes, it'll start throwing hotkeys on the host pc. I need a remote desktop software I can leave open 24/7, has file sharing ideally (another issue with chrome), and doesn't fuck with my software. RDP is honestly perfect, except the way it makes it's own display adapter messes up my transcoding or the actual player.
Edit: I found this post mentioning rdp can mess with renders.... This is likely related to my issue https://www.reddit.com/techsupport/comments/2ruvv4/comment/cnjnhbd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button How can I correct this? He says something about VNC, but the only vnc I found is some other remote software that sucks.

2024.05.19 12:18 krispykremediet2112 Any of you tried out that Lossless Scaling app on Steam? Took a minute but I'm diggin it...

I'm running a 5800x3d 3070, 32gb @ 3200. Live ran streets fine, but of course we know that's not usually the story on SPT. Figured I'd toss the 7$ away and try it. Took some fiddling but got it decent on streets now. It's a little confusing to me whether it's really a 100FPS i'm seeing on streets or it's really 50 and just says 100. but it feels decent and that's what matters. Before I was dipping in to the 30s and that just gets to be aggravating.
In case anyone is interested. My Lossless scaling settings are as follows:
Scaling Mode: Custom scale, factor of 1.3 ( i'm on a 27"/ 144 hz monitor normally run @ 2560x1440. I have dialed the max to 100hz just trying to get the fps under control so may bump it up now but I set nividia to cap at 100 as well). and resize before scaling on.
Scaling Type: LS1 Sharpness to 1 (don't think it matters but not sure), and Performance on.
Frame Generation: LSFG 2.0 (i seen various videos some people have better luck on the older 1.1 see what works, the cool thing is you can change it in game) Performance on,
Cursor: Clip cursor on, adjust cursor speed on, Hid cursor off, Scale cursor on.
Rendering: Vertical Sync on, (Max refresh rate), HDR support off, Allow tearing on, Draw FPS (puts counter in top left corner).
Capture: Capture API, DXGI.
Gpu & Display: Preffered GPU auto, Output Display 2560x1440 (your applicable card).
Crop Input left it alone, no idea what that is...
Behavior: Multi display on (using 3 monitors and playing on center one)
left windowed mode off and vrr support off
Also in the settings I set the scale hotkey to F9 as I don't use it for anything and I can tell when it is and isn't scaled also it seems any time you may tab out or anything that futz with the graphics a bit, i will tap the scale key twice (once to shrink it out and once to scale it back up and it cleans it up).
SPT Graphics:
the smallest 16x9 resolution I could get was 1176x664. I'm using windowed mode now. The aspect ratio is a wonky 848:451 but it looks right once it's scaled.
Took my texture quality back up to medium and shadows from low to high (may take quality to high feels like it has room).
Took LOD back up to 4 and visibility to 3K
I still use NVIDIA DLSS on balanced, HBAO still on off and SSR on low. Anisotropic filtering off and NVIDIA Reflex low latency to off. Sharpness at 1.5. Still using the lower texture on streets option only think clicked at the bottom.
Hope that helps anyone that's interested.

2024.05.19 12:18 CuriousAnachronism 24 [M4M] Germany/Europe/Online - Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus

Prologue

Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a good day. I ask that you send a DM instead of a chat and that you give the English translation of my title as your own.
Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

2024.05.19 12:17 Brave_Junket_807 Frets dropping on wired guitar

Sorry if this has already been asked but I searched and only found posts about wireless guitars.
This started happening recents on my wired Xbox 360 xplorer guitar.
Notes just randomly get dropped even when they’re super simple and there’s no way it should be user error.
I’m wondering if I need new drivers or something else is interfering, or if I just need to open the back of the guitar and clean contacts.
This is happening on windows 11 btw if that matters.
My RetroCultMods Wii guitars seem fine now and don’t seem to have this fret dropping issue although one does activate star power automatically no matter how you hold the guitar though that’s a different issue entirely that I’m not too worried about.

2024.05.19 12:10 KINGOFTHEDAD101 Second round attempt… intermittent fasting journey 🤔

Hey ya’ll!
40/M/5’11” here on my second bout of intermittent. I have/had put on a bunch of weight since my 37th birthday and found myself at 236 lbs up from 191. In 21’ I took a job that involved sitting 64 hours a week instead of standing and moving quickly all day for 40 as I had been for over 10 years. (HUGE factor, I’m convinced)
Last year, I shed it ALL with fasting, planning meal times more effectively, switching from beer and bourbon to red wine, and just walking a few extra miles every day. THEN my wedding/honeymoon happened and I broke my pattern gaining literally all of it back within the last 9 months.
Fast forward to the beginning of this month. I committed to getting back on the horse and started with a 72 hour fast. Since, I’ve switched to 22 hour fasting, skipping all meals every third day. I’ve kept my meal window between 5-7 pm, been eating carb-free for the most part (most days I have 3-6 oz of chicken or beef as a meal) and am on the final day of a 14-day colon cleanse (I’ve never done one before) beyond that, I’ve resumed the action plan I used successfully last year with everything else.
I’m finally seeing some progress this morning weighing in at 218. I went heavy on the veggies and greenery last time but had heard of a lot of people having luck with the “pure protein” diet so I’m giving that a shot.
I have some concerns about not having enough electrolytes in my system but I’ll drink a few oz of Gatorade every few days just to make sure I’m getting something.
I feel great, physically and motivationally. I know the big challenge for me is going to be keeping the weight off, so I’m brainstorming on what I should continue/modify/cease when I hit my goal. Obviously, portion control is huge.. meal timing is huge. (I don’t eat within a two hour window of drinking alcohol pretty much ever)
I really want to see my wife look at me the way she used to when I was 191 with abs 😆🙏 🤫
Does anyone have any tips/things they might be able to throw out there? Good luck and good job to everyone else on this wild ride they call pursuing better health! 🫡

2024.05.19 12:04 ficus77 Some tips for first time travellers to Vietnam

Just got back from Vietnam - North to South tour over a couple of weeks around my partner's birthday. Absolutely loved the experience and would love to visit again and slow down the travel to take things in a bit more.
I have some tips for folk from my own experience. I'm from the UK - and specifically Cornwall where tourism is a mainstay of our local economy and I know what it's like to have your land flooded with tourists.
1: the pound is roughly 30000 Vietnamese dong, so divide by 3 and knock off some noughts. It's easier to knock off the last three 0s from the dong price first. Very important for weighing up the personal value of something you might buy/are being hassled to buy.
2: Security at airports is not like our biometric passport scanners in the UK - it's guys in very officious looking uniforms taking their sweet time to weigh up whether you should be let in (or out) of the country. Bear this in mind for planning follow up transport or arriving for a flight. Huge queues. It took about an hour after arriving to get through security, and an hour and a half when departing for our UK flight (important as they were shutting the doors by the time we got through security).
3 phone data - while queuing to get into the country in Ho Chi Minh, we opted to buy some local SIM cards from a stall next to the queues. They were £8 each and gave us unlimited data for our 2 weeks. Ideal. Might be able to get it cheaper but convenience after 20 hours of travelling was worth it.
4 airport transfers - take advantage of these where offered. Again, just takes the stress out of things as we found the country quite overwhelming, especially HCMC and Hanoi (overwhelming in a good way though).
5 city markets - we went to Hanoi, Cat Ba, Hoi An, Phú Quoc and Saigon and in each place there was a sizeable (Cat Ba was smaller) market advertised as a "must see" experience but in truth is the same place selling knock off clothes, luggage, souvenirs, food ingredients, etc. Every fourth or fifth stall is EXACTLY the same stuff. It gets boring after 10 minutes. Would advise visiting this wherever you are on your last day to buy some stuff to take home rather than lugging it around.
6 scooters - I wouldn't consider this unless you know how to ride a scooter, especially in the cities. Vietnamese traffic is an organic wonder to beyond from the safety of a taxi.
7 crossing the road - for UK folk, they drive on the other side in Vietnam. Very important to look both ways but believe the hype, pick your moment and go confidently - Vietnamese also have incredible spacial awareness to avoid you.
8 GRAB - download the app, add your card and Grab away. Again, speaking of convenience and least stress, you will quickly appreciate not walking for 20 minutes in +30° city heat and choosing to take an air conditioned taxi. For comparison, a trip that would cost about a tenner in UK costs a £1. Incredible value for your wallet, comfort and time.
9 food - try everything. OK, maybe Thit Cho on Hanoi is a stretch too far for the average Brit but everything else should be experienced. Personal favourites were Hotpot (so wish we had similar in UK) and BBQ where it's in the middle of the table and you do all the grilling. You can find Pho for equivalent of about £1 if you need shoestring food.
10 wine - some places sell local Dalat wine which is OK but wine is not a big deal in Vietnam and is usually at least UK price if not more. My partner found this hard as she doesn't like beer and didn't want to drink cocktails all holiday. Dalat is perfectly good plonk though - white and red.
11 Hoi An - don't believe the hype. We spent too long here (so sorry Saigon, you weren't as loved as you should have been). It can be done in a day and you've experienced it all. Reviews were lead to believe there was more to it. Nightlife was a laugh in a trashy way though if you want to do the whole Brits abroad thing.
12 Be respectful - my experience was that Vietnamese are a country of grinders who work all hours of the day. So speaking of Brits (or anyone else) abroad be respectful that not everyone you see is there for your photo opp or to help you and those in markets and hospitality are making a living, so don't waste their time. British especially are a nation of window shoppers and I'm not sure that came across too well on our travels. Try to be low key while you weave around the lives of Viet folk.
13 Learn to confidently say "no thanks" - politely saying "no thanks, just looking" and moving on is a valuable tool for getting through certain touristy areas. Engaging with folk will both give that person the wrong expectations and exhaust you in the process.
14 Google Translate - download this and use for basic enquiries. I don't think I was saying Xin Chao, Cam On or Tam Biet properly, so for anything beyond that, I have no clue. Don't assume people speak English - some are good enough to say Hello first to get past that.
15 Find a spot and just watch - find a coffee shop, relax and watch a very different people go about their lives. Things I enjoyed: how cool all the young people are; how obsessed the young folk are about selfies; care of children; karaoke round the dinner table (understand not to everyone's taste); friends enjoying a hotpot; lads fighting a crab into said hotpot; groups of friends having animated toasts after work; care of old folk; many and varied ways to use a scooter to carry people, goods, materials, flat screen TVs, dogs.
16 Beers in order of my personal taste - Saigon Red; Larue; Saigon Special; Hanoi; 333
17 Beer St in Saigon - go walk through it. I have never seen anything like it. Don't necessarily stop there but go observe it's wild, perverse nature.
18 If staying in a hotel, before you head out for the day, soak a flannel in water, put it in a glass, put the glass in the fridge. You will appreciate it when you get back from your enevitablely roasting walk around town (mad dogs and Englishman..).
19 pack for very hot weather (in May at least). I took a set of clothes for UK - these were worn to and from the airport and otherwise lived at the bottom on my bag. Otherwise, shorts, t-shirts and light shirts to keep the sun off. Even cotton t-shirts felt too much at times. My favourite items were a matched black linen shirt and shorts I bought out there. Pretty much lived out of them exclusively towards the end of the trip. Must have announced my musky presence from a great distance. Utilise the laundry services for sure.
20 ignore the rubbish - try to tune it out and adjust your hygiene expectations. This is important as in two weeks, I got blisters, bites, at anything and yet came away without food poisoning, infection or anything else. It's an eyesore at times to these soft UK eyes but don't let it ruin the trip. Hope Vietnam authorities can do more to handle that as it'll mount up the more the country is discovered.
Sure there's more but just offloading after getting back. Hope it helps.
EDIT: More to add
  1. Cash is king but card is accepted - in the UK, because of COVID, cash has definitely taken a back seat to contactless payment. I've rarely had to use cash other than to pay for things off FB marketplace. Vietnam isn't like that, despite being at least as technologically advanced as the UK in certain respects. Always have some dong on you. Few hundred thousand covers small purchases like water, Bahn Mi for the road, restorative coffee, etc. A lot of places do accept card but can come with a 3% fee. And get ready as they take the card and put it into the machine - it's not a scam (at least, I don't think it is) just how it's done. The card machine is handed to you for pin and then half the time they need a signature on the receipt. Monzo is a good bank for travelling as you get free ATM withdrawals on their side up to £100 and you can instantly see the conversion of the latest transactions.
  2. Ice cubes - when I got my travel vaccines, I was told to be wary of ice as much as tap water. From experience, iced coffee from most coffee shops has been fine (thankful in the heat) and cocktails with ice also fine. I'd maybe avoid the street side iced drinks and stick to modern looking bars, coffee shops and hotels to be on the safe side.
  3. Geckos - you may see geckos in hotel rooms and elsewhere. Fear not, they are harmless and like to feast on mosquitos. As with any wild animal though - and includes all the cute looking street dogs - observe from a distance. We shared our cabin in Phu Quoc with a foot long Tokay Gecko which absolutely freaked us out for an evening until the manager told us it's fine and just to leave it be and it'll keep it's distance. Definitely the coolest wild creature I saw.

2024.05.19 11:40 BoomBoxMechanical Reinstall and backup Windows 10 – Help needed

TLDR:

  1. I want to nuke the existing Windows 10 installation
  2. Install a fresh copy of Windows 10
  3. Configure it the way I like it (settings and basic programs)
  4. Create a bootable backup in case I ever need to re-nuke it – without having to reconfigure settings / reinstall programs

Context / Preface:

I'm certain this question has been previously asked / answered – however; with the plethora of information / solutions / sources (Reddit/Forums/Youtube) I find myself thorougly confused and knowing less than I did before.
The computer in question is primarily used by family members and kids, and as you can imagine – reinstallation is often required for various reasons. The in-built recovery/reinstallation option has been my go-to choice so far, but I don't always have the time to reconfigure and reinstall everything on it, hence I want to create a fully backed up, bootable, preconfigured USB to speed up the process.
As I've mentioned above – previous answers / solutions are plentiful but overwhelming, so I'll describe my understanding of the process with questions below.

Plan of attack:

Getting the new WIN10 installation
  1. Go to Microsoft webpage and follow the steps for downloading WIN10 .iso file using the media creation tool
a. Instead of directly using the USB flash drive option – use the ISO file option (so I can back it up separately)
  1. Download RUFUS and create a bootable USB drive from it:
a. Insert USB drive and select it as a Device
b. Boot selection – locate and select the previously downloaded ISO file
· Q1 – What partition scheme do I use?
¨ I presume I should use GPT since the laptop is cca. 6 years old at this point.
· Q2 – What format option do I choose?
¨ I presume I should use NTFS
c. Click start to create the bootable USB drive

Installing the new WIN10
  1. Boot into BIOS/UEFI (for this particular laptop Fn+F1) and select the USB as the boot drive
  2. Follow the initial instalation procedure and skip the product key entering
· Q3 – How will I be able to reactivate Windows? Will this be done automaticaly (is it stored in the motherboard/BIOS/UEFI)? The laptop initialy had WIN7 which was later upgraded to WIN10 – I unfortunately no longer have the packaging for it, and if I remember correctly WIN7 came preinstalled on it.
  1. Where do you want to install Windows
· Q4 – If there are any partitions available, and I want to delete absolutely everything – do I check each one and click delete untill the only partition remaining is „Drive 0 Unallocated Space“ ?
  1. Let Windows do it's thing and install – then go through the instalation process with a local account only.
  2. Afterwards connect to the Internet and download all the available updates and configure the system to my liking
  3. Install and configure basic programs – Firefox, WinRaR, VLC etc…

Backing up the freshly installed and configured WIN10
  1. Reinstall RUFUS and restore the previously used USB to it's „normal“ non-bootable state (for use in later steps)
· Q5 - Which file format do I choose ?
¨ I presume I should reformat to NTFS ?
  1. Go to Control panel and find „Backup and Restore Windows 7“
  2. Create a system image – choose the previously reformated USB drive and let it create the system image on it.
a. The newly created system image will be transfered to the desktop so I can back it up separately and also to re-use the USB drive
· Q6 - Does this back up all the settings/programs or does it only create another „clean“ Windows installation?
  1. RUFUS (again) – recreate a bootable USB drive – this time with the newly created „backed up“ .iso image

Final question(s).

· Q7 – Will this function like a „normal“ WIN10 instalation – in other words; if I ever need to re-nuke Windows – can I boot into BIOS/UEFI; rewipe everything and will the instalation process continue as normal or do I need to select the repair option or similar?
· Q8 – Will everything be configured how I left it (settings and programs) or will it just reinstall Windows like it would from a new .iso image?

I hope I've written everything as clearly as possible, and also hope to get clear answers from someone far more knowledgeable than me.
Thank you in advance and looking forward to you answers. Cheers!

SLOptiplex 9020 maxed out, wondering how much I could sell for??
I7 4790 with mx-4 thermal paste
Taken down to bare bone and painted (more of a quick paint job) and let it sit for 4 days before installing everything back in and fresh thermal paste again..
HDD cage is removed for more GPU room and second fan is installed (It may need a splitter on the splitter but MODDIY takes 2-3 weeks to deliver cables, only reason I state this is because the wire is about as tight as a guitar string)
GPU: AMD RADEON PowerColor Fighter rx 6750 xt 12GB Runs highest with the second fan I have seen RDR2 and BeamNG drive maxed out run 200w and 73c° (not too shabby for a 2014 pc with horrible cooling capabilities)
32GB DDR3 ram original dell optiplex 9020 Micro ATX motherboard.. BUT.. I plan on swapping it into ryzen 7 if I don't sell it, or sell it for more with ryzen 7 who knows My mind is all over the place with this thing
Thermaltake smart 700w PSU runs amazing have had zero issues, always shut it off after use by the back power button and power button I have on a lightning strip
Pros: Runs almost any Game you throw at it except for need for speed heat! It no like that game LOL
It will run 4k I play games on my 70" 4k tv and I LOVE IT! So detailed and the response is nice and fast
Cooling is decent I notice about 2-3 c° difference with the gpu and cpu compared to just the rear case fan.
Cons: Runs max 60 fps on most games but have gotten 80fps average on games like BeamNG drive and I believe fallout 4 I seen 120fps with enb mods and everything ultra settings, not too much of a con but a "hey, this GPU will definitely do better in another PC!"
Cooling can be better! And the metal case behind the front case fan is kind of sharp I can definitely file it down before selling
It lags sometimes, windows 10 is not my favorite and the cumulative updates take a nice long while, BUT it isn't all that bad really.
No windows 11 unless you want to risk it 😉
Sticker choices are hit or miss I am sure.. I vape so of course you can roast me in the comments
Last but not least only 500GB SSD.. not much space (sad face) but it boots beautifully
I really need a good price point to put this monster up for sale, any suggestions please fell free to let a brother know!

2024.05.19 11:22 downton_adderall Help me get my BFs house more eczema-friendly :)

Hi everyone, I need some help with this old house my BF lives in. I'm pretty sure I flare everytime I stay over there, which 1) makes me super sad since I love being in his place and 2) is quite problematic as I'll be moving out of my flat end of June and I was planning on staying at his until September, which is when I will be moving to a new, super eczema-friendly flat.
I'm most allergic to dust mites and I think his house is full of dust, I'm talking old dust thats been collecting in the cracks of wood for decades. They also smoke in the house and even though I open all windows and air out the place 24/7 when I'm there, the air still feels weird on my face. They use wood for heating, which makes the air quite dry, but this probably won't be a problem over the summer. There's also a lot of couches, fabrics and decorative pieces that have been collecting everything for who knows how long. My BF usually does a grande cleaning when I come over, which makes it a bit better, but it's not totally perfect.
So I wanted to ask for any house-cleaning advice you might have to potentially make his place more suitable for me? So far, my plan (mostly for him to do) is: - Vacuum everything, every corner, every crack, everything - Clean/disinfect everything; the entire floor, all heating rails, pipes, window frames, tables etc - Wash all carpets, curtains, pillows, blankets, at 90, inspect couches for mold - Completely air out the place for 1-2 weeks - What to do with decorative pieces, ie. sculptures? I hate dusting these since all the dust just flies out in the air anyways and eventually lands in the same spots.
Is there anything I could ask him to buy? (He would do everything to make me more comfortable at his. He plans on renovating the entire place, which is obviously the best solution, but that's a few years down the line).
TL;DR My BFs old house makes me flare, tips on how to clean, what to do/buy to make me stop flaring over there.
