My partner and Sam met and we all ended up sleeping together and it was a really weird experience for me to feel like Sam was “home” and my partner felt like he had a dark energy.
In the last two years or so I’ve been let into the fact that my partner was actually sexually abused by his older brother for many years growing up. He of course carries massive trauma from this and has really large fear of abandonment issues. Since meeting Sam it’s like he’s been squeezing the soap. Made even worse by the fact that every time she sees the people she now lives with, she is reminded that her cowardice cost them the most important person in their families. • Marcy wears her blue Newtopian cloak even with her casual clothing just in case she sees her parents and needs to hide her face from them under her hood so they don't recognize her. Marcy later buys a foldable walking staff from a drug store and carries it around in her satchel in case of "Magical Girl emergencies" as she calls them. (Her powers are an homage to Matt's original idea for Marcy to be a sorceress.)
• In this version of Anne-sterminator, it's laundry day and since Marcy can't go back to her house to grab clean clothes, she has to wear some of Anne's, namely her iconic St. James Middle School uniform. When the Assassin bot comes to kill Marcy, it sees Marcy in Anne's clothes and gets confused allowing everyone time to escape. In the junkyard, Marcy whips out her staff and uses her Calamity powers to cast an Anti-gravity spell on the Assassin bot, launching it into orbit where it's bomb detonates. Marcy finally has to come clean about Andrias and what happened to Anne. While the Boonchuys are devastated about Anne, they know that Anne would have wanted to get the Plantars and Sasha back home and use that as motivation to keep going.
• While in The Core, Anne's Fantasy world is one where Amphibia and Earth are merged into one and she doesn't have to choose. (A tongue in cheek mocking of Star vs' ending) She gets sus when she notices everyone acting off. When Anne calls bull on the whole thing, The Core leaves her in the darkness with only the light of her phone containing her real memories to keep her company.
• During The Core's invasion, Dianne uses Anne's Calamity powers in their fight against Sasha making it far more of a brutal beat-down than a proper 1v1. When Grime sacrifices himself, it causes Sasha's Calamity powers to awaken, making it a fair fight.
• While battling Andrias, when Marcy starts running low on Calamity juice, Andrias starts mocking her. I 28/F have been with my partner 28/M for 12 going on 13 years. He’s my only REAL relationship experience as we got together when we were 15/16. I came from a very troubled household so in a lot of ways he has been my savior growing up. However in 2021 things started to get difficult, I put it on myself because both of my parents had passed away that year and I was in a very dark place. I started drinking a lot and stopped taking of myself (taking my medications) and I ended up pregnant. I knew I was very emotional and going through some things so I tried my hardest not to be clingy but he just stopped caring, I remember begging him to not to leave me in the house big,pregnant and depressed but it never worked. After we had the baby, I found out that he was distant cause he had cheated and once again I made excuse cause I knew my pregnancy was difficult, and I was very sick as well as grieving, I just felt like I wasn’t a good partner so I attempted to forgive(really I was so alone, just lost all the family I had and the one I built with the man I loved was crumbling before my eyes, I just wanted things to stay the same) . So fast forward a year and things are still rocky. We argued 2 months ago and he let me know that he has another child (basically he has been cheating the whole 12 years and has decided that he knows he wants us now) I tried to explain how that’s such a big betrayal of trust, and literally broke my heart but somehow I was told that I was being selfish and him having a baby just out in the world doesn’t effect me. Now he has involved family who are telling me I’m being selfish for wanting to leave. ( I should mention that at the start of 2021 we moved across country and I do not have any friends or family at all) maybe I am being selfish but it’s impossible to believe he could love me. Now it feels like he’s begging me to check back in to the relationship but I can’t look at him without being disgusted. Am I wrong for planning to leave?

Hi, I’m very new to Reddit and have questions, I’m 16 years old and am having a LOT of trouble with my mom. I had a complicated childhood with her and we never really bonded, she was focussed on working and growing her business (she quit teaching to become a chef) and I was just not what she wanted (I was planned) my dad was my primary caregiver and I adore him. I would get in trouble often for loosing or misplacing things often, one thing I remember clearly when I was 6 or 7 I had an American girl doll, my mom thought I lost it and had yelled at me while I was in the shower, I remember being terrified and shaking, I looked all around the house and still couldn’t find it. So, she threw my doll shoes and clothes at me shouting “why’d I buy you for this, why’d I buy you that” . She left for work and then acted like nothing happened, the doll was at my neighbours house.
The throwing things at me never happened again at that scale, but leaving things around the house when she was in a bad mood would lead them to be thrown at the door and pilled out side my room. I have ADHD so keeping track of things is really difficult and she always gets mad when I borrow something and forget where I put it (I understand that it’s really difficult for some people to not have everything orderly) but I feel like her reactions are always a bit harsh.
Sometimes she’s the best, she’s happy and funny, she tells me how much she loved me, and sometimes she’s mean and the flip can switch as fast as me not remembering to return her eyeliner to the makeup bag THAT WE SHARE. She has now separated all of the makeup leaving her with all the nice makeup and me with the scraps (which is fine, I can make any makeup look good). All she cares about is her self, she’s mean to my dad and doesn’t let him go out with friends and play soccer, I’m allowed to do whatever but she loves to remind us that she does all the work, which is not true, my dad does everything for her and her business. I know she’s unhappy and wishes that she could have been rich and not have to work but she forgets that we are people too.
I love my mom so much but I’m just so tired of silent treatments and being yelled at and then expected for everything to go back to normal after she gets over it. So is it abuse or am I crazy?

I am planning to buy a house in Durham Region, Ontario. One concern I received from a few people is about the two nuclear plants in this region. The house I am planning to purchase is just 8 kilometers from the Pickering Nuclear Plant. How safe is it to live close to this nuclear plant? When I check the internet, I see contradictory opinions. Some articles say it is completely safe, while others suggest that all reactors operating in Canada are vulnerable to accidents caused by a combination of human error, design flaws, and natural disasters.

I am also hearing about plans to close the Pickering Nuclear Plant and at the same time, the possibility of refurbishment. I understand that these plants are almost 50 years old. When the plant started 50 years ago, there was less population, but now the population has increased and is still increasing. Statistics Canada projects the population in Durham Region to reach one million by 2041. In case of an incident, how can the authorities evacuate so many people in a short time? Is there any possibility of shutting down the plant permanently in the near future?

I have this neighbor that knowingly and intentionally broke my truck down. I’ve had this neighbor for years and I typically thought that he was a pretty alright dude, when I moved in I had gone around and helped with odd jobs or offered pastries to the people around me because, yknow, I’m a normal human being who wants to be in the good graces of those who have access to your location. Anyways, years of what I can call friendship have apparently been thrown out the window when he had a chance to impress a lady friend of his. He’s on the older side, about 42, and has been divorced once, which is now starting to make sense to me. He asked me the other day if he could borrow my truck to pick up this girl he had met in town, and seeing as I’d known him for years, done yard work with him and watched Sunday games with him relatively often I thought there’d be no harm in it considering he told me he’d fill up my tank when he was done. Fast forward to yesterday, and I haven’t seen my only transportation for the better part of 24 hours, when I get a call telling me that my truck had been totaled. Obviously, I’m pretty dumbstruck on the spot, and all I could ask was where it was at and I was told the local landfill. I borrow a real friends little subaru to head on down and yeah, my shit was totaled. I loved that thing, bought it in my last year of high school after saving up for 2 years and had put aftermarket speakers, subs and a new dashboard in it. To me, priceless. To my insurance company, a huge hike in monthly payments. And to him, not even a sorry. I called him multiple times, no answers, so I showed up at his doorstep and he had the audacity to tell me to get the fuck off his property. The thing is, if I do anything to his car or house it’ll be pretty obvious who did it, but he just happened to buy a new rototiller and I wanna know how I can get into it at midnight and snip a cord or something so that he can’t use it and have to buy a new one. I have other plans but I know how to execute them, however I’m not very versed in rototiller mechanics. It’s one of those small push ones. Kinda looks like a push mower, at least in terms of scale.

Looking for advice/thoughts on setting up ClickUp to manage both work projects and "life admin." I'm using the Personal Workspace Layout and have no collaborators.
I know that it's helpful to start as simply as possible and add complexity as it becomes actually needed. The thing is, I'm importing a few projects already underway (plus a lot of small tasks of varying value), and want to avoid defaulting to my familiar old systems without assessing whether they're actually working for me, or are a good fit for ClickUp.
Assess my setup and give me feedback on where to go from here! I've included a ton of detail on my current setup below. If it's TL;DR, my more general question is: Tell me how you set up ClickUp to handle both work and life admin projects. How are you using categories, status, priorities, tags, and task types? I'm having trouble figuring out how to use them, especially since there seems to be a lot of potential overlap between them. Or, what advice do you have for migrating to ClickUp with a couple complex projects already underway, plus a lot of small tasks?
For context, here's how I have ClickUp set up right now. It's pretty simple but I'm still not clear whether it's the right approach (and FYI, I'm not wedded to it at all), plus there are still lots of components that don't neatly fit anywhere in my current setup:

• I have ClickUp divided into three spaces: Active Projects (multi-step projects with clear outcomes and/or deliverables), Areas of Focus (task lists divided up by a broader work or life "area"), plus a space I'm ignoring where archived projects and messy old things live..
  • Under Active Projects, I have folders for each class I'll be teaching (and because it's summer, right now they're split into prep work for upcoming classes, and wrap-up for the couple last to-do items left over from the spring).
  • Under Areas of Focus, I tend to keep lists of professional admin and personal life admin tasks that aren't part of a larger project (like paying bills or rent.

Next, there are a few different types of things I'm trying to plan and keep track of. As mentioned, I'm not really sure how I should be thinking about them through the framework of categories, status, priorities, tags, and task types.

• Active projects with a specific, concrete outcome. Mostly these projects are longer-term things, sometimes with several potential paths they could take depending on results of earlier tasks, but other times they're just 1-2wk projects that have lots of little steps I need to keep track of. Some real-life examples on my list right now:
  1. Work: Set up a class I'll be teaching in the fall. I need to do a bunch of prep work for this, some of which is pretty clear (set up course homepage and revise syllabus to include XYZ things; revise grade breakdown using these rules, & implement breakdown in Canvas), and other of which is fairly inchoate (e.g. review these five texts and decide which to teach; find an open-source subject-specific text; refine course structure as needed based on the texts I end up using). Then, there are semi-ongoing tasks that will come into play once I'm actually teaching the class (e.g. prep/review the thing I'll be teaching next week; set up assignments due next week so they're ready to go when the start date rolls around; grade assignments X, Y, Z; a weekly review of the syllabus & update deadlines as needed). Then wrap-up tasks that happen pretty routinely at the end of the semester, and one-off "respond to X's grade query email" type tasks. (Many of these things could be part of a template, but I don't need to cross that bridge yet.) How to organize the giant project of "put together, teach, and wrap up X class"? What's the relationship between the big project full of kinda sequential steps and the small "Answer X email" tasks that I mostly put into a project manager so I don't forget about them?
  2. Work: Various small professional development projects that in the past I've thought of as a series of sequential tasks, e.g. "Apply for X grant" (in this case, small individual artist grants for $1k-$20k, not big, collaboratively-written NSF grants). Under "Apply..." is a list of five different pieces I need to put together, one or two of which will need multiple rounds of refinement, while the rest will be relatively quick and easy. This type of project usually comes together in a couple weeks or less, and typically I'll have several active at once. (I usually have a dozen others on my radar at any given moment, but only decide to apply for 1-2 at any time. I keep up with these deadlines via a Google Sheet and a sticky note on my Mac desktop, and in the past only brought them into a project manager once I'd committed to a specific deadline-driven thing, or if I needed a reminder to check on one that has a deadline that varies annually.)
  3. Personal: Research summer travel possibilities, map out a timeline that fits scheduling constraints and mode of travel (one subtask that's a small project in and of itself: research buying a fiberglass camper shell for truck, & if that makes sense to do we'll drive, otherwise we'll fly or take the train). This is still in the research stage, so there aren't many actual tasks yet, but will be in a month or so.
  4. Avocational: Facilitate a large, slow-moving bylaws revision project for an organization I'm involved with. I'm at the beginning stages of this one, but have a pretty good idea of the different stages of this project and what the path to completion will look like. It'll be a big project once it gets off the ground, but for now it's just in the "assembling ideas" stage.
• Ongoing & one-off tasks with varying priority levels (e.g. things I need to do regularly vs. things I'd like to do regularly but don't necessarily get to).
  • Necessary Tasks like paying rent and bills, which are typically pretty straightforward and non-negotiable. Also things like updating the finances spreadsheet I share with my partner, which ideally happens weekly but which realistically I don't get around to more than once a month if that.
  • One-Off Tasks that start cropping up, especially once the semester is underway (e.g. "Answer X email"). Some of these are essential, others don't need to happen (but should for a smoother semester), and plenty are totally optional but worth doing if I have the time. When I'm bogged down, I don't want to think about those totally optional tasks at all, but when I'm feeling pretty unencumbered, they're worth tending to.
• Other things I can't figure out how to classify/organize:
  • Backburner tasks & projects, both work-related and life admin. (How to label and filter backburner tasks that I need to do "soon" vs. "eventually" vs. "maybe, someday, who even knows"?)
    • Some of these are important but not yet active (e.g. applying for that aforementioned grant, for instance, which I don't need to actively think about until next spring when the deadline approaches, though I do often start drafting/refining materials in advance, so it's nice to have a clear holding place for those).
    • Others are aspirational (for instance, "Organize the garage" is a backburner task that will turn into a full project once I start working on it & actually identifying specific subtasks, e.g. put specific thing on FB Marketplace, or buy a set of storage bins). I'd like to clearly delineate between this sort of thing; I don't need to see "Organize the garage" unless I'm doing a big review of the backburner items once a month or so and moving a handful into active projects/tasks.
  • Mosquito tasks: These tasks should happen "soon" or "eventually," but they're not urgent and if they end up never being completed at all, that's usually nbd. Realistically I might do them in the next couple weeks, but probably not in the next few days. These kinds of tasks are helpful to keep in ClickUp so they stay on my radar (and one benefit of that is that for a task like "Email so-and-so to ask X question," I'll often end up drafting half an initial email in a comment, then forgetting about it for a few weeks and coming back to find that email already half-drafted). Mosquito tasks include:
    • Reminders (to check on an important or not-so-important upcoming professional deadline that hasn't been posted yet, & to keep doing this until that concrete deadline appears, at which point it turns into an actual task; upcoming birthday reminders; to get a book back from someone who'd borrowed it, etc).
    • Personal CRM, my most frequent mosquito task. I've done fieldwork around the world and consider keeping in touch with friends/colleagues/informants from faraway as part of my professional responsibilities (but not urgent whatsoever), so I like to keep these things on my radar without letting them distract me from my active, necessary tasks & projects.
    • Ideas, possibilities, and other inchoate things that ended up in ClickUp when I migrated from Todoist, some of which are basically just notes-to-self, and other of which are smaller tasks/projects that I may someday pick back up, all of which I feel sentimental about and don't want to get rid of even though I'm not going to sort through them regularly. These pretty clearly fall under "backburner" and "maybe, someday, who even knows." (Should I break the "Not Started" status into "Backburner: eventually" and "Backburner: maybe, someday, who knows" to delineate these?) Feel free to ignore this category!
  • A Morning/Evening Routine that should reset every day, regardless of whether I've checked every item off from the previous day. (This is probably the only sort of task I want to reset like this, and honestly it's pretty low-priority.)

Give me advice on how to organize all these things, please! Or just tell me about your ClickUp setup for work and life admin projects! Or give me advice for migrating to ClickUp with a bunch of tasks and a couple complex projects already underway, rather than starting from complete scratch!

Srila Prabhupada Says - So killing, killing is very bad, but killing for the sake of right cause of fighting, or killing in the sacrifice, they are not sinful. Sometimes in the Vedas killing is recommended, just like in the fight or in the sacrifice, but that is not sinful. Sometimes a brāhmaṇa is sacrificing, offering, performing great sacrifice, and the animal is put into the fire just to give him renovated, new life, not for killing, just to test how Vedic mantras are being properly pronounced. That will be test. When sacrifice is done, the fire is there, and old animal is put into the sacrifice, and he comes out with a new body. That means the Vedic mantras are being pronounced very properly, and it is being carried out. This is the experiment, not for killing. Although in the Vedas there are recommendation that paśu-vadha system... Just like in the modern age also, when some experiment is made, it is made on the life of the animal. But they are killed. But when there is recommendation of putting an animal in the fire, that is not for killing; that is to see that this animal has got a new body.

Pradyumna: Aśvamedha-yajñas or gomedha-yajñas, or the sacrifices in which a horse or a bull is sacrificed, were not, of course, for the purpose of killing the animals. Lord Caitanya said that such animalssacrificed on the altar of yajña were rejuvenated and a new life was given to them. It was just to prove the efficacy of the hymns of the Vedas. By recitation of the hymns of the Vedas in the proper way, certainly the performer gets relief from the reactions of sins. But in case of such sacrifices not properly done under expert management, certainly one has to become responsible for animal sacrifice."
Prabhupāda: This is a long subject matter. But the sacrifice in yajña, recommended, that is not for killing the animal, but it is a testing, how the Vedic mantras are being properly chanted. Because an oldanimal put into the fire, by Vedic mantras he would come out again with young life. That is sacrifice of animals in the yajña. Therefore in this age there is no such expert brāhmaṇa who can chant the mantras properly or he can behave because the life is very abominable. Therefore, because there is no expert brāhmaṇa, so these sacrifices are forbidden in this age. Kalau pañca vivarjayet aśvamedhaṁ gavālambhaṁ devareṇa sutotpattiṁ sannyāsam (CC Adi 17.164). These things are forbidden in this age, because there is no proper men to conduct.

The purpose of the Vedas is to establish such principles under the order of the Supreme Lord, and the Lord directly orders, at the end of the Gītā, that the highest principle of religion is to surrender unto Him only, and nothing more. The Vedic principles push one towards complete surrender unto Him; and whenever such principles are disturbed by the demoniac, the Lord appears. From the Bhāgavatam we understand that Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Kṛṣṇa who appeared when materialism was rampant and materialists were using the pretext of the authority of the Vedas. Although there are certain restrictive rules and regulations regarding animal sacrifice for particular purposes in the Vedas, people of demonic tendency still took to animal sacrifice without reference to the Vedic principles. Lord Buddha appeared to stop this nonsense and to establish the Vedic principles of nonviolence.

Lord Buddha, a powerful incarnation of the Personality of Godhead, appeared in the province of Gayā (Bihar) as the son of Añjanā, and he preached his own conception of nonviolence and deprecated even the animal sacrifices sanctioned in the Vedas. At the time when Lord Buddha appeared, the people in general were atheistic and preferred animal flesh to anything else. On the plea of Vedic sacrifice, every place was practically turned into a slaughterhouse, and animal-killing was indulged in unrestrictedly. Lord Buddha preached nonviolence, taking pity on the poor animals. He preached that he did not believe in the tenets of the Vedas and stressed the adverse psychological effects incurred by animal-killing. Less intelligent men of the age of Kali, who had no faith in God, followed his principle, and for the time being they were trained in moral discipline and nonviolence, the preliminary steps for proceeding further on the path of God realization. He deluded the atheists because such atheists who followed his principles did not believe in God, but they kept their absolute faith in Lord Buddha, who himself was the incarnation of God. Thus the faithless people were made to believe in God in the form of Lord Buddha. That was the mercy of Lord Buddha: he made the faithless faithful to him.

The horse sacrifice yajña or cow sacrifice yajña performed by the Vedic regulations shouldn't be misunderstood as a process of killing animals. On the contrary, animals offered for the yajña were rejuvenated to a new span of life by the transcendental power of chanting the Vedic hymns, which, if properly chanted, are different from what is understood by the common layman. The Veda-mantras are all practical, and the proof is rejuvenation of the sacrificed animal.

According to sacrificial rituals, animals are sometimes sacrificed in the yajña arena. Such animals are sacrificed not to kill them but to give them new life. Such action was an experiment to observe whether the Vedic mantras were being properly pronounced. Sometimes small animals are killed in a medical laboratory to investigate therapeutic effects. In a medical clinic, the animals are not revived, but in the yajña arena, when animals were sacrificed, they were again given life by the potency of Vedic mantras. The word śipi-viṣṭāya appears in this verse. Śipi means "the flames of the sacrifice." In the sacrificial fire if the oblations are offered into the flames, then Lord Viṣṇu is situated there in the form of the flames. Therefore Lord Viṣṇu is known as Śipiviṣṭa.

My (30f) boyfriend (30m) made plans a while ago that him and his future significant other would buy a home with his family. He currently lives with his family. He use to live on his own but moved in with family once his dad left his job and they asked the kids to move in with them to help with expenses. At the beginning of us dating, I expressed that I want to purchase a home with him and live on our own. He told me that he wants the same.
Lately his family has been pressuring him to go back to the decision they all planned saying that it’s not fair because they all agreed to move in together at first. They also told him that they overheard a conversation that we had where I asked for reassurance that he would get his finances together and move in with me (this conversation was had after he informed me that he would be staying with his family for one more year so that he can get his finances together) and that’s when they started pressuring him to change his mind again. They tried to spin it as if I’m making him make the decision to move in with me.
His family has terrible money management and always has issues with paying bills. He always tries to save money because at any point, a large bill will come out of nowhere requiring him to put money toward it. The family completely lives about their means with them living in a nice house and having nice cars that they can barely afford. On top of it all, we get no privacy as you all see. This is a deal breaker for me. How do I go about handling this?

My wife, Day (30), and I (29) have been together for seven years and just welcomed our baby girl four weeks ago. I am originally from East Africa, and Day is African American. About five years ago, I filed for my mother, Ana, to relocate to the US because I'm her only child and wanted her closer. I informed Day of this move, and she pushed against it. We argued, and I assured her that Ana would only stay temporarily with us for three months, after which I would help her find a job and a place to become independent. Day even argued that if Ana moved here, we would need to relocate to the South of the US to be closer to her mom, which was weird to me, but I was okay with relocating.
Fast forward to five months ago, Ana's visa was approved, and she needed to leave her home country for the US within six months. Coincidentally, Day was pregnant at the same time. I reminded Day about the relocation, and she threw a fit about it and used a lot of profanity toward Ana even though she had never met her. She also asked me to choose between her and Ana. I was confused about the question, as I never intended to make Ana live with us permanently or beyond the three months we had initially agreed on.
Also, throughout this period, I excused Day's behavior by blaming hormone changes due to pregnancy.Three weeks ago, we had a baby girl, and Ana arrived a week later, three days before her visa was meant to expire. From day one when Ana arrived, it's been hell in our house.
On the first day once she arrived, Ana was so excited to meet the baby and couldn't wait to hold her even though she was visibly tired from the trip. She went and took a shower and asked us to bring the baby. Day brought her from the bassinet to give Ana but was visibly upset. When Ana asked us to bring a blanket and a cap to keep the baby warm since she was barely one week old and was lightly dressed, Day responded to the request faster than I did; however, I could tell she was faking a smile and was very angry.
A few hours later, Day came to the kitchen area to do something, and Ana asked her to go and rest and told me to fulfill any tasks she needed. Ana also told Day that she could send her on any errands she wanted. Day went inside, and a few hours later, she called me to complain about Ana.Her complaint was that Ana was commanding her in her own house, asking her to bring the cap and blanket and also asking her to go get some rest.
Even though I know Ana means well, I empathize with Day and sided with her. I then went to Ana right after the complaints to discuss the situation with her and asked her to not interfere if Day does anything around the house. I also told her to politely ask Day for anything by saying, "Can you please".
Ana obliged without any complaints and even apologized, stating she didn't mean to offend her.It is worth noting that Ana also brought with her some native East African clothes as gifts for Day and the baby, which Day did not appreciate. I later lied to Ana, stating Day loved the clothes and was thankful for them.After that incident, there was some calm even though I noticed Day was always with our daughter in the bedroom and rarely came out.
When I realized for days she was always with the baby, I proposed we go out on dates to give her a break, while Ana watched over the baby. Day somewhat resisted and wanted the baby to come with us but later gave in and left the baby with grandma.
During this period, Ana would ask Day daily what she wanted to eat so she could cook it. I was helping with feeding the baby and changing diapers, alongside helping organize things in the house since we just moved to a new place. For about five days, there was some level of peace until my MIL visited.
As a matter of fact, a day before my MIL arrived, Day and I dropped the baby with Ana so we could go on a date. While we were heading to our destination, I overheard my MIL asking Day on the phone what we were doing, and she told her we were heading to the mall. MIL was upset when she told her we left the baby with Ana. Day kept saying, "Don't worry about it," multiple times. I didn't ask Day what was said, as that was a conversation with her mom, but I was concerned about what would happen once she started living with us.
It is worth noting that my MIL and my mom had never spoken to each other or met before or after we got married, so there is no bad blood between them.
The next day, when I returned from work in the evening, I found Day, Ana, and my MIL in the living room watching a show, which initially made me happy, thinking everyone was getting along. My wife even mentioned that she asked Ana to teach her Swahili, and my MIL expressed her plans to teach Ana crochet and said she would be buying the accessories needed. Ana was delighted to be around them despite her limited English.

Day was upset because she felt Ana had disrespected her and her mother by picking up the baby without permission and commanding her to prepare food. Another instance that bothered Day was when Ana stood over her while she was changing the baby's diaper, applying Vaseline.
I empathized with her and told her I would speak to Ana about it. After finishing my food, I talked to Ana about the allegations. Ana was shocked but apologized, explaining it was just a cultural norm in Africa for the community to help raise a child. I asked her to get permission from Day before carrying the baby, even though it felt strange to do so, and to refrain from interfering when Day was changing the baby. My mom said she wouldn't beg to carry her grandchild and decided she would avoid sitting with Day and my MIL to prevent any further offense.
The next day, Day came to me, visibly upset, stating her mother had cried because of the disrespect from Ana. I was alarmed, thinking this was a new incident, but it turned out to be the same issue from the previous day. Day began using profanity and stated that as long as Ana lived in the house, she would not find peace nor be allowed to carry the baby.
She even threatened to call the police if Ana made her mother cry again. I tried to calm the situation by stating that her mother was being manipulative and that she was being influenced by her, which upset Day even more.
For the next three days, Ana did not touch the baby but remained polite to my MIL and Day. Yesterday morning, I was holding the baby and needed to do a few chores around the house since Day was resting after watching the baby during the first shift. I took the baby to Ana upstairs to allow her some time with her granddaughter while I worked.

Today, I was trying to wash feeding bottles and asked my mom to help me hold the baby. She obliged, and once the baby started fussing, she asked me to bring her food. I did, and she began to feed her. When Day saw Ana feeding the baby, she was upset again and asked me if we hadn't gone to church yet. I told her no, as I was trying to finish washing the bottles. She proceeded to take the baby out of Ana's hands. Ana asked her if she could just finish feeding the baby, but Day didn't respond and just dragged the baby out of her hands.
I felt ashamed watching this play out in front of my eyes. I didn't say a word. I drove Ana to church and felt stunned and ashamed that I somehow played a role in all that had happened. Interestingly, Ana didn't even talk about the incident; instead, she talked about something completely unrelated to take our minds off the situation.I feel like my MIL is somewhat responsible for Day's behavior.
She will be leaving next week, but I'm already sick of having her close to me and my family. It is worth noting that my MIL has four siblings, and the three sisters among them have cut her off as well as Day due to her dramatic nature. My brother-in-law has been married twice and on both occasions did not inform my MIL and wife about it until three months after the fact.
Also, our wedding was quite unconventional as it was during COVID-19, and my family couldn't attend to meet my in-laws, and Day and my mother-in-law fought during that period which led to no contact between them for a year.
I have excused Day's behavior as postpartum stress, but this is wearing me out. I have lost about 10 pounds in the last three weeks.This cultural difference was something I was warned about by friends, but I didn't listen and thought love conquers all. She had a daughter young. Her name is Sara. She didn’t treat Sara well and it caused problems within the family for years. She would isolate Sara from us the second we said something she didn’t like. But she treated her horrible. I supported her financially by buying essentials, foods, and clothes for her because Anne couldn’t be bothered.
Anne has struggled with mental illness since she was a teenager and I had to get her hospitalized twice. When Sara was growing up, it took over her. She was a neurotic control freak. Controlled how often she showered (Not letting her every day) Hid and monitored the food in the house. And we got into multiple arguments and screaming matches about Anne being odd about things. Such as not letting Sara sleep on her bed or eat at the dinner table because of her OCD fear of messes. She made her sleep and eat on the floor for years.
Every time I saw this, I yelled at my daughter and asked her why the fuck she’s treating her like that. I came over their place one evening when Sara was about 10-11, and she was screaming on the hallway floor scratching herself saying she can’t take her mother anymore. I took her out of the house for a week, and my heart broke for her.
As a toddler, I heard Sara screaming for somebody to help her. We all lived together. She would put Sara in dark hallways, closets, scare her with the dark when she’d get frustrated with her. Sara told me that she’d say things like “The aliens are coming to get you. Goodbye” and lock her bedroom door so Sara can’t get in. All I heard was screaming all the time. My daughter screams daily.
She tore her down about her looks, body, everything. When she moved out at 18, she came to my house insecure and lost.
She hasn’t spoke to Anne in over a year. It makes holidays impossible. Because I love my granddaughter. And want to see her. But she won’t even be in the same room as her mother.
And I told her “Sara, I had to forgive my mother and it freed me. You will forgive her. For yourself. You never know how you’ll feel in the future” and now she wants to stop talking to me. I’ve never excused what my daughter did. I condemned her all the time.

When I was a child I used to buy pirated games because I live in a 3rd world country (Brazil) and someday when I'm 9 years old I see this game being sold on a store near my house. It's Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, I thought that the game's title was cool (even if I didn't knew what it meant) and the box art was cool too so I bought it and when I played it O just loved it. I knew only a bit of english so I didn't understand the story too much but the gameplay hooked, the combat system was so great and it blew my mind the fact that I could talk and recruit the enemies. After beating it it became one of my favorite games but I could never find another Shin Megami Temsei game being sold where I lived. But after some time I got a Super collection of Super Nintendo games emulated on the PS2 ( yes, it really exist and is called Snes station ) and Shin Megami Tensei 1, 2 and if... were there, with 1 and 2 being translated to english by aeon genesis and if... only in japanese.. I played the first and in the beginnin I thought it was weird, cluncky and boring but I ended up linking it and beat it after some time, then I played Shin Megami Tensei 2 and ended liking it even more than 1 ( but not as much as nocturne ) and then I tried to play if... but I couldn't get too far since it was in japanese. And this is my story with the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, after some time I ended up searching on the internet and I discovered what this franchise was about and the other games that existed in it like Persona and the Devil Summoner series and I got to play them. Do anybody else also played any SMT game as a child? Persona also counts.

My girlfriend broke up with me tonight. She said that I've been in effect soft ghosting her because I don't want to break it off.
Background: So we were together for almost 13 years. We both had troubled childhoods. Each others first everything. However, I was always the one putting in more effort.
I could list the inequality in our relationship for days, but to sum up the main bits. She has physically harmed me. She has never shown any appreciation for the things I do for her. She ran off with a body builder for a year. She claims she never slept with him, but the more time passes the more I just feel like a mug. She moved out of a house I bought, and has made no effort to move back stating I need to buy a better house. I pay for everything. There are worse things than these but I honestly feel guilty even writing it. I feel like such a failure just putting it into words.
These things mounted and I developed some bad psychological issues as a result. Due to this, I've been in therapy for the last 6 months. It's a long ass work in progress. She asks about it now and again, but I literally tell her nothing. I'm extremely guarded in what I say to her.
A year ago, she got her life together. Got a job she enjoys, friends, and now wants to move on in life. Get married, have children, buy a new house, etc. Our relationship is honestly the best it's been in a decade. A few weeks ago she was talking to me about selling my house and buying one together. I gave a non committal response and she jumped on it. I effectively let out that I'm half in half out of the relationship, and that I gave up trying to communicate my displeasure. I gave up because after saying I feel unappreciated and disrespected 100 times, with no appropriate corresponding change in behavior, you lose the will to talk. She went on to ask if I wanted to break up, and I just said "You've compromised me to the point that I've lost the will to make any decisions about anything to do with this, and I don't have the will to talk about it again." At this point, talking about the issue feels like I Bart Simpson writing another line on the chalkboard.
After dotting around the issue for a few weeks, she has messaged to say she wants to break up because I basically soft ghosting her.
In all honesty, I don't really know where to go from here. I never really liked the idea of sleeping with more than one person in my lifetime. I really love her personality in the good times, but it seems completely contingent on her being set and happy. She was always my one and only everything. I've never really been interested in anyone else like this. On the other hand, there is so much water under the bridge I could fill an ocean. In all honesty, I'm bitter and resentful about everything. On one hand, I really hate that this is how my life has turned out. On the other, I do feel like my resentment may be leading me to throw away everything.
She has worked on herself, and she is trying. That's what makes this all the more hard. I don't feel like I'm moving on from her at the low points, I feel like I can't fully appreciate anything anymore because of the past.
Do you think it's unreasonable of me to be hung up on the past in this way? Should I be more forgiving?
