Ok so let me provide a little bit of context on the situation, I am 35 years old and have a 14 year old daughter that I have been separated with the mother for about 7 years now. She just married this past year and lives with her new husband and his 2 children. Custody of my child is split between us with me getting my daughter every other weekend, and on Mondays after school until about 8pm. Now to say I'm not happy with the amount of time I'm getting is an understatement, I've asked so many times for more time to no avail. A little bit of background info on me is I currently live with both of my biological parents, my mother is 59 and my father is 89 with dementia and I help take care of him. I'm trying to be as transparent as possible to give you guys a good understanding of the situation. My financial situation is not the best, to make money I cut hair and have a small handful of clients and it's not much but it's enough to pay for child support which I do. So with those things being said I'm going to get into the issue, and I would be happy to answer any other questions pertaining to the situation. The real issue is that woman is flat out irrational and impossible to deal with, now I know that may sound like its coming from someone that's severely lacking accountability but on everything I love, I am not the same person I was when we split up I have matured, and I have tried many many many times to be amicable, and it just does not happen. There was obviously a custody agreement made, while we never actually stepped foot in court, a custody agreement was made and signed by both of us which is the days I told you I have with my daughter and has been that for years now. A few years ago me and her had gotten into a dispute that had to do with my daughter and a psychologist she was seeing over the time, long story short this was on my weekend when my daughter was over and because I didn't agree with her or whatever, she came and picked my daughter up on the spot. Like I said I live with my parents, if this was my house I wouldn't have even opened the door as I know my rights, but my parents don't like dealing with cops and are easily scared by them so I have to respect them considering I live with them. While that has not happened since I am making a list of things this woman has done that seem irrational and not ok to me. So last month my mother went on a business trip to NJ and I stayed with my father, about 2 weeks prior I had my daughter ask her mother if she could stay with me one of the weeks my mother was gone to help with my father, she told my daughter yes(I didn't ask because as stated she's irrational so it's gotten to the point I don't talk to her much we communicate through our daughter which I know is not ideal at all but the situation really is that bad). Well fast forward to the week she's supposed to stay with me and as I'm having a conversation with her she tells me she's not going to be able to come by that week and when I ask her why she tells me she got in trouble with her mother for having an attitude with her so her mother told her she could no longer come, so as a punishment she took time away with her father. So then she text me like a week after that telling me that a family wedding was coming up and that it was on my weekend and she was asking if we could switch weekends so my daughter could go. I told her yes I have no problem but to please remember me when I ask for things. She responded with "she always does as long as it doesn't have to do with what they are doing" which is absolutely not true and she mentioned the only thing that happened recently was she took that week away from my daughter and that "it was never asked for by me or by her" which is obviously also false. So my daughter just mentioned it to her but didn't ask her about it? That doesn't even make sense it's just her spewing irrational words to justify her actions to herself. Also anytime she has contacted me asking for the schedule be swapped to benefit her, I have ALWAYS said yes like literally I've never said no, and it's because I'm trying to be amicable and I would appreciate if the same thing was done for me, but it never is. So either way after I told her yes but told her to please remember me if I asked for something similar she got defensive and the conversation went south, as it always does even when I'm biting my tongue and saying please/thank you she holds this animosity over me which I dont know where it comes from at this point considering we're 7/8 years separated and she's married. She may not respect how I am a father which is fine, I don't respect how she's a mother but at the same time I'm not disrespectful to her as a person as she is to me. Either way after the conversation went south I told her nevermind no, I will not be swapping weeks with her because I'm tired of bending over backwards for someone who would never even consider doing it for me, and at that point I blocked her number and told her I can't deal with the irrational stuff anymore I'm tired of it. I'm supposed to pick my daughter up tomorrow for my weekend and I just got a text from what I assume is her husband cause shes blocked telling me my daughter is not in town and won't be there for me to pick up tomorrow, so even though I said no I'm not willing to trade weekends she went ahead and took my daughter on my weekend anyways. Guys I'm tired and don't want to argue with anyone, but I'm also tired of being taken advantage of and I want my time with my daughter without having to deal with this irrational stuff, what are my options and what can I do? Up until this point I know she's taken advantage of the fact she knows I don't really want to go to court(I have nothing to hide I just really dislike the justice system and if I can prefer to avoid it I will) which I believe is why she acts as brazen as she does because she believes no repercussions will happen. Please help.

Riven grimaced as another torpedo exploded far too close to the tiny vessel, she was aiding what was left of the Alandran crew through the retreat from the Oort Cloud. Three chaff torpedoes left, after that, they would be defenseless. “Shields down to twenty five percent Captain. I don’t think we’re going to make it to the planetary defenses.”
Captain Jan’Inar gritted her teeth and tapped on the arm controls of her command chair, “Engineering, tell me we have the ripple drive back up?” There was no response from her request.
“Captain, the chief engineer is dead, and the ship is so riddled with holes and fires I doubt communications are reaching engineering.” Riven said with a sigh. Then was forced to launch two chaff missiles towards the four enemy missiles that were bearing down on the Rivendell with monstrous acceleration.
The torpedoes attempted to corkscrew around their interceptor, but their dim AI’s were no match for Riven, who detonated the bomb pumped masers through the defractors with millimeter precision over three kilometers away, reducing them to slag. “We have one chaff torpedo left Captain, no ripple drive, half the crew is out of the fight.”
She watched as Captain Jan’Inar looked down through the floor monitors, the hulk of the Isengard was three hundred kilometers in the Z axis. “Riven, get us to the Isengard, use whatever maneuvering is necessary.”
Riven shrugged internally, she didn’t see how getting to the wreck would help, they were still ahead of the last two Trinar scout vessels, but hiding amongst the wreckage wouldn’t help. “Aye Captain, making for the wreck.”
A giant explosion appeared in one of the starboard monitors, one of the ones that wasn’t flickering off and on that is. “What the hell was that?” Jan’Inar asked Riven.
It took her a mil to process the incoming data, half her external sensors were either gone or malfunctioning. “That was the Trinar cruiser’s reactor exploding from nearly five light minutes away, the Missive managed to take her out, but she’s heavily damaged.”
Looking in the forward view screen the wreckage that was once Isengard was coming up fast, “Captain, we will arrive at the wreckage in twelve seconds, what do you want to do?”
The Captain sat back in her chair and answered, “Take us under the wreckage and put it between us our pursuers. Force them to go around the wreckage, and when they do, use the last chaff torpedo to hit one of the four fusion reactors of the Isengard.”
Riven smiled, that was Alex level deviousness. Also, quite a problem, three ships on different vectors, one near stationary wreck, and then the torpedo itself, which isn’t designed for precision, more like a shotgun blast. She cranked her frame-rate to maximum and her ship VR faded to just raw windows. Even at her maximum processing speed the calculations took agonizing milliseconds.
“Firing chaff torpedo three now!” The heavily damaged ship shuddered a bit as the last torpedo roared from its launch tube. It took nearly three seconds to reach the wreckage and detonate, an eternity to Riven. She watched as the bomb pumped masers sliced through the containment bottle, releasing the hellish energy and pressure at the heart of a star.
The explosion turned the wreckage into atoms, then lanced out in a sphere engulfing both Trinar ships in white hot plasma, obliterating them in the maelstrom. Then the shockwave from the explosion lashed out into space in every direction at the speed of light. The Rivendell was struck from behind, the ship staggered, her torch drives melted, and the lights went out.

Kara ended the simulation, both Alandran ships returned to normal operating duty. She opened up a channel to both Captains, letting Izzy and Riven broadcast her report to the crews. “First the good news, the enemy fleet was destroyed and the Missive and Rivendell survived to fight another day. Now the bad news, the Isengard was lost with all hands, which could have been avoided if you both stuck together and allowed your point defenses to overlap. All this means we’re going to be running another simulation tomorrow.”
She could hear both crews groan at the announcement before she continued, “I will be providing Riven and Izzy with the battlefield data, I expect you all to spend the next few hours going over where you could do better.”
Then Alex’s face appeared on all monitors in both ships, “We beat them this time, but I won’t be satisfied until we beat them every time. Go over the after action reports, come up with some new ideas, and get some rest before we tackle this again tomorrow. Also, I want to congratulate the crew of the Rivendell for lateral thinking.” Then the monitors all reverted back to their normal duty.
Alex looked over to Kara, “They’re getting better.”
Kara nibbled at a chip, “They’re not getting better fast enough. We know what we’re dealing with when it comes to the Howron ships, but the Trinar as you’ve taken to calling them are still a complete mystery. They may be even more dangerous than we’ve extrapolated them to be.”
Alex rubbed the back of his neck, “And they may be far weaker than we think, look, we can only do the best we can. We can’t really fault the Isengard crew, they’re even greener than the Rivendell.”
Kara nodded walking around the buffet table, “I’m really worried Alex, we have three ships at the moment, two of them with new crews and new AI’s. The forth will be online in a week, and I need to start focusing on producing and training a new AI.”
Alex held her lightly around the waist, “Getting the forth ship and it’s AI up is more important than these simulations, I’ll deal with them, you do what you do best?”
“Play Mother to everyone?” She asked?
Alex grinned down to her, “Well someone has to be the adult around here, and it ain’t gonna be me.”
She looked up to him, “They listen to you more than you know.”
“Poor kids.” He said as he leaned down to kiss her.
Kara spun away from his embrace and went back to the holo-tank, “Speaking of adults, it looks like we finally received an error free scan of Kel’Taraan’s mind.”
Alex came up beside her to look into the holo, it showed the docking area where the ships repair crew would normally be housed during refits. In the common area sat the Stasis pods with Kel’Taraan and Mon’Kelron, the former of which had received the medical nanobots that would repair her internal damage while she stayed in stasis, they were nearly done repairing the damage.
He turned to Kara, “Have we finished constructing the matrix yet?”
Kara shook her head, “Four failed attempts, today will be attempt number five, I’ve slowed down the print head on the auto factory to it’s lowest rate, in a few hours it will be done, then I have to put it through pass/fail checks and cross my fingers.”
Alex sighed, “Yeah, they told me about the hardest thing for an auto factory to make was the print heads for another auto factory, something biological, or a replicant matrix. Makes sense that we’d have difficulty now, as we build in space, not a sterile lab environment.”
Kara swiped at the holo, showing a video of the construction process of the matrix. “If this one doesn’t work I may have to build a lab around an auto factory and provide the gravity and sterile environment, these things take forever to construct.”
Alex studied the table for a snack, “Oh, you think we may have more matrix’s to build in the future?”
Kara looked over to Alex a little exasperated, “Once the genie is out of the bottle, I expect we may find we need to make quite a few of these.”
He rubbed his chin in thought, “We’ve asked Kel’Taraan to keep the knowledge of replication secret, I’m pretty sure she’ll do so.”
She looked back at him shaking her head, “You know as well as I do that something like this won’t stay secret forever.”
Alex nodded and sighed as he looked down, “Yeah, you’re right. Something will slip, intentionally or unintentionally. Best plan for it in the future.”
“And that brings up the next question, what do we do with Mon’Kelron?” Kara asked.
Alex looked at Kara a bit confused, “We let the medical nannites finish working on her and we keep her on ice until we can drop her back off on the planet.”
Kara shook her head, “No, that will stir up even more suspension in the Alandrans, who already think we are mysterious. She needs to be let out for observation or something before we put her back into stasis.”
“Well, you’re busy getting the new AI up and running and getting the matrix built, I’m busy with the simulations, Riven and Izzy are running ships and working with crews, that leaves Monty. Where is she anyways?”
“Personal project, she’s been working on a particle accelerator model that will be easier to build around the first planet, using material from the first planet.” Kara answered.
Alex frowned, “How would that work? We need an accelerator large enough to circle the star to make the exotic materials we need.”
Kara grinned, knowingly, “Remember that this universe is more energetic than our original universe? Monty figures that she can get by with one that encircles the first planet at twenty thousand kilometers and with about fifty loops around the accelerator we can get the necessary velocities to create the required materials.”
“Okay, so a smaller accelerator, we figured what, a century out to get one built around the star, how long will this take?” He asked.
Kara shrugged, “We had to make an estimated guess, but since the supply line would be vastly shortened by harvesting the planet with mining drones we figure two to three years before it would be operational, assuming we move one quarter of all mining drones to the first planet.”
Alex nodded, “Much more feasible. However, you haven’t mentioned probable yield.”
Kara sighed, “Yeah, less than a tenth what a proper accelerator would produce, but if we use most of the production for manufacturing nannites and substitute other materials for armor or hull we could still build some of the heavy cruisers you have the prints for.”
Alex looked down to the table and found some boneless buffalo wings, snatching the small bowl and cradling it he commented. “Well, three and a half years to build the first heavy cruiser isn’t too bad. Granted we have to build a full sized shipyard in that time frame as well. We aren’t going to churn one out in the scaled down models you two came up with.”
Kara nodded, “Already on the production schedule as well.”
Taking a big bite out of the buffalo wing, Alex sent Monty a message. “Would you be so kind as to join us at the buffet table?”
Monty faded in beside Kara, “What’s up with the big guy using all formal messaging?” She asked.
Alex swallowed, “What? I can be elegant and shit too you know.”
Monty rolled her eyes, “There’s the Alex I know. I’m assuming you need me to do something boring?”
Kara answered before Alex could make another quip. “We need you to baby sit Mon’Kelron for a bit. She needs to think that she is inside the ship so she doesn’t think anything strange is going on, particularly with Kel’Taraan.”
Monty tapped her chin, “Um, the hanger bay where they are being stored is separate from the rest of the ship. Only our two androids are located there in pods, how do I explain that she can’t go beyond that point?”
Alex spoke up while Kara was trying to come up with an answer, “Simple, you tell her she is in quarantine on board our vessel, let her know you have been decontaminated but it’s a long process and I’m too busy to go through it right now.”
Monty nodded, than smiled, “Can I wear a cute nurses outfit?”
Alex shook his head, “Fine, just sell her on the story and keep her occupied while she is under ‘observation’, then get her back into the stasis pod.”
Monty did a salute that was fairly close to an insult and faded out.

Kel’Taraan awoke suddenly, there was no slowly drifting into consciousness, it was as if she had been startled awake. Looking around she saw only darkness, where was she? Was she dead? Were the humans unsuccessful in turning her into a replicant? Then she saw light, just two glowing blue eyes at first, then the silhouette of a petite woman brown hair down to her shoulders.
Then the rest of her faded into view, she wore a uniform similar to what all Humans wore, more practical than formal. Then she spoke, “Hello Kel’Taraan, I am Kara, it is nice to finally meet you.”
“It is nice to finally meet the legendary Kara. This must mean the process worked, what will happen to my old body?” She asked
Kara brought up what looked like a cylindrical hologram and was touching icons, the world around her faded in to what appeared to be a comfortable house. “It was destroyed before you were activated, otherwise you would not be the closest continuer, but a mere copy of yourself.”
Kel’Taraan was a little taken aback, “Closest continuer? Why destroy my old body?” She wasn’t sure why she should care if her old body was gone, but for some reason she did.
Kara finished fiddling with her hologram and it faded away, now they were sitting in a quite nice cottage, complete with a fireplace and bookshelves full of leather bound books. “Short answer, the No-Hiding theorem states that like matter or energy, information can neither be created nor destroyed, simply moved or transmuted. The information that made up ‘you’ cannot exist at the same time that your replicant was activated or you would be two different people with the same memories.”
Kel’Taraan nodded, “So to ensure it would really be ‘me’ who awoke, the original vessel had to be destroyed to ensure only one copy of the information was available?”
Kara nodded, “Correct, although it is much more complex than that, and still under some debate, that is the reigning theory of closest continuer.”
“So what do I do now?” Kel’Taraan asked.
Kara smiled, “Now we start training you on how to be a replicant. I have given you a private virtual reality environment, it should be close to the little cottage in the picture frames in your room.”
Kel’Taraan looked around and found that it was very similar. This was the cottage that she and her Emmet had looked at purchasing so long ago. She reached down and rubbed the ornate leather chair she was standing behind. It was only at this moment did she notice she was not hunched over, her back did not hurt, and she needed no cane.
Looking down at her hands they were without wrinkle or age spot, the skin was soft and taunt. She looked around and found a mirror by the front door, and in it she barely recognized the face, it was her, nearly four centuries ago.
“How?” She asked as she turned back around to Kara.
Kara summoned some keldaran hot tea and two small cups on the coffee table before sitting in the other leather bound chair by the fireplace. “Our spy devices in the palace found pictures of you when you were young, we extrapolated a three dimensional form for you to inhabit here.”
Kel’Taraan nodded as she walked back to the empty leather armchair, she noticed her hair was blonde once more, no longer silver. Sitting down she looked at the beverage choice, “Fair warning, that stuff tastes like battery acid, I have no idea how the Empress drinks it, could I try your coffee once more? It has been so long!”
Kara grinned, and waved away the Alandran style crockery and replaced it with a coffee pot and two coffee mugs, along with cream and sugar. Pouring a cup for Kel’Taraan and offering cream and sugar, which she accepted and raised it to her face to inhaled the aroma. “This brings back memories.” She stated, tearing up a bit.
After taking a sip of the Human brew she sat it back down on the coffee table. “I suppose since I am in the company of Humans once more you find our naming schemes a bit aggravating?”
Kara shrugged, “It doesn’t bother me, although Alex wishes he could shorten your names from time to time.”
Kel’Taraan nodded, “The first Human crew called me Kelly, I think I would like to go by that again.”
“Kelly it is then, I’m sure Alex will be pleased.” Kara stated while taking her own sip from her coffee.
They both sat there for a moment, just enjoying the silence and the beverage, before Kara spoke up. “I want you to get comfortable here in your cottage, if you want I can help you change your VR environment at any time. You probably don’t realize it yet but you and I are operating at millisecond resolution at the moment.”
Waving her hand a small menu appeared before Kelly, showing her how the frame-jacking system worked. Kara continued, “I’ve given you access to this menu, and more will follow in the next day, which can be as short or as long as you choose.”
Kelly thought for a moment, “So at our default frame-rate, a single millisecond lasts..” (11.57 days) A slider appeared above the frame-jack menu.
Kara nodded, “We all experience time differently than biological creatures, we can experience lifetimes in days, or we can stretch a single day into milliseconds.”
Kelly nodded, “Seems like I have a lot to learn.”
Kara put down her coffee cup, “That you do, and for that reason you have this library, inside these volumes are the culmination of Human knowledge and culture.”
Surprised, she raised an eyebrow, “Doesn’t seem like a lot of books compared to the Imperial library on Alandra.”
Pulling the first tome off the top shelf she handed it to Kelly, “Open this.”
Taking the amazingly immaculate leather bound tome she opened it and her mind was awash in chaos. Words, symbols, numbers, letters, ideas, constructs, abstractions and so much more flooded her very essence. Then it was gone, replaced only by a floating bar above the now closed book. It stated, “IMPRINTING INFORMATION 2%”.
Looking up at a Kara she whispered, “What just happened?”
Kara sat back down and crossed her long legs, “You just downloaded the contents of that tome, several yottabytes of data, now your matrix has to make sense of it, hence the imprinting information bar. I will leave you now to consume the contents of this library, after that you should have the basics of everything you need to know about Humans and our technology.”
And with that Kara faded out of Kelly’s VR space. She looked down at her book, 6% complete, this was going to take a while… or was it? She smiled and reached for her frame-jack slider.

General question here (obvi only share if you feel comfy answering it):
If you inquired about the MUSC study for hEDS that's being conducted by the Norris Lab, did you ultimately consent to the study after you learned that your results wouldn't be shared with you?
For background, I'm in the boat rn of needing to make that decision---whether to participate & just give access to my genetics, and therefore knowingly give access to any and all of their collaborators (including analyses in the future I don't even know my samples are being included in).
I'm a chemist by training, so it's not the rush that's the issue---I literally have my own paper published in a different topic & it took two years from start to finish get it written & thru review, so I'm more than aware that analyzing data & organizing it takes SO MUCH TIME. BUT---I know I'm also being barred genetic testing by my geneticist because I "don't fit" the BS & 2017 criterion (but every other practitioner & PT says that's false, on top of the geneticist doing their measurements when I wasn't paying attention), so having the results is really, REALLY important. Even the All of Us research program didn't test for much other than vEDS & maybe a few others.
Research is super important, especially large studies like this with almost 4k participants---but so is disseminating important medical information (even if it is an organizational mess), so I'm torn.
If you didn't consent, have you found other studies or programs that have offered you similar testing that WILL share results? I want to contribute, esp since my EDS has literally made it where I can't be a chemist in lab anymore, but I also seriously need to deal with the genetic testing issue too (hopefully at the same time). Appreciate it! 💜💜💜

Bambu ASA Aero
The new Bambu ASA Aero is a filament with foaming properties based on the printed temperature. I created a test print based on the range provided by Bambu labs. From left to right in the picture is 220C .93 flow rate ratio(FRR), 230C .90FRR, 240C .74FRR, 250C .60FRR, 260C .51FRR, 270C .45FRR, and 280C .44FRR. all cubes were printed using 80mm/s and other than that standard ASA settings for cooling etc.
I had initially attempted to print at 120-150mm/s but the infill was not laying down properly so I slowed it down. The 260C cube delaminated when I tried removing it from my PEI build plate, however I did not give sufficient time for cooling.
The dimensions of the cubes measured by some digital calipers are in order as follows
220C: X19.88mm Y19.80mm Z19.98mm 230C: X19.83mm Y19.77mm Z20.03mm 240C: X19.83mm Y19.75mm Z19.96mm 250C: X19.75mm Y19.77mm Z20.09mm 260C: X19.90mm Y19.84mm Z N/A 270C: X19.85mm Y19.77mm Z19.99mm 280C: X19.85mm Y19.83mm Z20.00mm
All of these measurements had a range of +/-10%, it's possible this is from inaccuracies in the printer or calipers and not an attribute of the filament.
The density of the filament significantly decreases with an increase in temperature. All of the cubes were printed at 10% grid infill with 2 walls, 3 bottom shells, and 5 top shells. The weights of each cube in order are as follows:
220C: 3.00g 230C: 2.85g 240C: 2.34g 250C: 1.89g 260C: 1.49g* 270C: 1.41g 280C: 1.37g
*As a reminder the 260C model had lost ~3-4 layers due to the delamination the actual weight of the whole model needs verification.
The strength of each model decreases as temperature increases. To test strength I applied significant for to crushing the model and then tried pulling it apart by the layers. I only spent a few seconds on each model. The amount of force I applied was significantly greater than any amount of normal handling. The 220C-240C models I was unable to crush or delaminate, at 250C-270C the models were more delicate and able to be crushed with force. The 280C model seemed to be stronger than the 250C-270C models and was more difficult to crush but it delaminated with force. Of course this is very subjective.
The overall print quality of the filament seems to degrade at higher rates of foaming. There is increased stringing and pitting on the print as the temperature increases. The stringing is easily removed with my nail.
The surface finish is glossier at lower temps and becomes matte with an increase in temperature. There are no bubbles visible to the naked eye unlike when printing with wet filament where you can clearly see the water bubbling upon extrusion.
The print was done all in one go with 7 models on one plate printed object by object with a change in temperature between each object. The first layer of each print was done during the temperature change so this may change the results slightly. Aside from the 260C cube there were no major errors in the print
I do not have a method to test temperature resistance.
Overall this filament has significant potential in lightweight outdoor components that don't see significant stress. Things like RC aircraft wings, model rockets nose cones, and or fins are a few examples. The filament provides the option of higher strength parts at a lower temperature or significantly decreased weight while still being mildly sturdy at higher temperatures. Another factor to consider is the rate at which you'll be going through spools. As the temperature increases the amount of filament being used decreases extending the life of a roll. This filament is hygroscopic so definitely recommend keeping in a dry area and dry before use.

Hi! So I am currently a sophomore undergraduate studying molecular and cell biology and bioinformatics, and plan to continue onto grad school in the field of molecular biology/genetics and genomics. I will be applying to a range of schools including Cornell and Harvard due to my interest in specific labs at these institutions. In terms of my grades throughout the semesters I have been getting mainly 4.0s and a 3.9, but this semester I did get a B+ in organic chemistry II, bringing my GPA to a 3.8 for the semester. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into how this would impact my chances of getting in; to provide additional context I have been involved in research for two semesters now, have an independent research project for the following summer, and am involved in peer mentoring on campus, and have completed/enrolled in graduate level coursework. I also plan on completing a genomics internship next summer (between junior and senior year). I know that GPA isn't the main thing that grad school's look at, but I assume for highly competitive programs it is am important factor. Just wondering if anyone had any insight or advice, thank you!

Hi everyone,
I'm a junior right now in undergrad and after this semester I'll have a 3.56 cGPA and 3.54 sGPA. I'm just really worried about my GPA and it doesn't seem very competitive. I do have a upward trend (i think?), I'll break down my GPA below. I transferred to a 4 year university this year after taking my first 2 years at CC. ECs wise I haven't done any research yet, I have 1200 EMT hours right now and around 50 volunteer hours but those will be much higher when I apply and I'll likely get some research. 30 shadowing hours which will be 70-100 by application time. I plan on taking a gap year, so I'll apply early at the end of my senior year. I plan on applying to lower tier MD schools and mostly DO. Will be taking MCAT January next year. Anyways, I'm feeling really disappointed with my GPA and my performance this semester. Is it still somewhat competitive? Did I lose my upward trend? What kind of MCAT score should I shoot for with these stats?

I am curious if any of you guys were obsessed with attending the Ivy Plus (Ivy League + MIT, Stanford, Duke, Caltech, or Chicago) because for my (43M) son (currently 13M) who was diagnosed with autism at age 3 and could not speak until 3 and a half years old, during his time at elementary school until we moved to a bigger house in late 2022 in 6th grade, he got straight A's except in English/PE. Even though his English grades hovered between A-/B+ since 5th grade, it has significantly improved from a C+/B- when he was in 1st grade. During elementary school, he was even in advanced math (one grade level ahead), got straight A in that class, and he also won some school/district wide awards in STEM. He has won a district wide math award, a regional engineering award, as well as win the school's Geography Bee. Once we and the school helped pull him out of a special ed homeroom during the middle of kindergarten (around January 2017) to a mainstream homeroom (he is still on an IEP however), he nonetheless caught out and his behavior has massively improved. Starting 1st grade in 2017, we started buying him supplementary workbooks so he could learn English, Math, and Science during his free time and he was quite good at it. Even though he is a bit weaker in ELA, he nonetheless shown massive interest in STEM fields, such as math, chemistry (he took a glance at the periodic table when he was 6), physics (he loved reading Physics and Space/Astronomy books), engineering, and of course, technology, where his favorite thing to do is to use the computer. He started becoming obsessed with technology/computers at around 5 years old, and due to the fact we have multiple computers, he started knowing the basics about macOS, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP at the time. In fact, he also learned about the basics of iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod), and Android, and his passions on computers deepened when he watched a video on "Every Windows Startup Sound". When we were 5, we also bought him a globe where he basically explores various countries and their capitals during his free time, and we bought him large sheets of paper at Walmart showing all 45 presidents, the times and division table (up to 12), the Solar System, the periodic table, and the human anatomy. We also bought him a visual dictionary and he really loved reading it. Despite the fact he only took one advanced course, he was 2-4 grade levels ahead, often using the supplementary books we bought for him to learn and he finished these books in a matter of weeks.
Even though we are totally fine with him attending community college, ever since he was 7, he has been dreaming of attending HYPSM universities, knowing that many of the people he aspire to such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Larry Ellison attended some of those top schools. During my son's free time, he loves to watch tech videos, science/history documentaries, learn computer programming (Java, C++, C, Python, Swift, Kotlin, Go, Ruby, R, etc), and explore around with technology and computers. He has been infatuated with computers since he was 5 and would spend hours tinkering around with technology. We even hired a piano tutor for him and even though the piano tutor mostly helps with his fingers/notation, he has self taught and memorized some pieces such as Claire De Lune, Arabesque, Waltz No 7, Grande valse brillante, Moonlight Sonata 1st/2nd movement, Mozart Fantasy No 4, and Schubert Impromptu Op 90 no 2 in a matter of months or even weeks. In Summer of 2022, he even won a piano competition in Boston. Even though we don't pressure him, he is very self motivated and wanted to be at the pinnacle.
By the time he reached 2nd grade, we started taking him to piano lessons, and that was where he developed an interest for classical music, making classical music his favorite genre. He even studied various composers, including some medieval (Hildegard von Bingen) and renaissance (Josquin Des Prez) as well as baroque (Bach), classical (Mozart), romantic (Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin), and modern (Debussy, Ravel) ones as well. Also by this point, we started buying him 4/5th grade math books and science books and his 1st grade teacher even gave him a high school US history and World history textbook and he enjoyed reading several pages of it per day to explore various historical events, such as Louis XIV, Napoleon, the Dutch East India company, the European Scramble of Africa, the Weimar Republic, and US reconstruction after the Civil War. By this time, he was also obsessed with figures such as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rene Descartes, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and current tech entrepreneurs Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, and Elon Musk. Basically, after a year of playing piano at 8, he started playing pieces such as Mozart Facile Sonata No 16, Mozart Turkish March, Beethoven Fur Elise, Bach Prelude No 1, and Beethoven Ecossaise. Also, the most important thing happened in his life by the time and that is, he started learning how to install various VMs on Virtualbox/VMware, and the year after at 8 years old, he was introduced to programming by his older cousin (something that will change his life), where he started learning HTML and CSS first, then moved on to JavaScript and Python, and afterwards, to Java and now, he is learning C, C++, Swift, Kotlin, and and R on his own on Udemy and edX and is currently working on a mobile game.
In 3rd grade, the school principal realized my son was very smart in math and after my son asked the principal to be put to advanced math, he was put in a 4th grade classroom for math. He essentially excelled in that class, and in one instance during 4th grade in a 5th grade math homeroom in early 2021, he was the only student out of 25 to receive over an 80 on one test (he received a 95) and therefore, he was the only student who didn't have to retake the exam. Even though the 4th grade teacher back in 2019 really wanted him to be in her science and social studies and he excelled on those, showing my wife and I extremely high grades, the principal and 3rd grade homeroom teacher didn't authorize the move, instead insisting on making him stay in the 3rd grade for these two subjects which made him kinda unhappy. By the time he reached 4th grade when the grading system got changed from numbers to letters, whenever you get an A in conduct and effort in every class, you get to eat ice cream every quarter in the cafeteria and eat pizza at a local Pizza store every June. Turns out, my son got an A in conduct and effort in every class in every quarter, even in English and PE, where he would usually get a B to A- grade but an A in conduct and effort. Also, despite the fact my son is weak in English, he nonetheless got his grade up from a C/C+ (equivalent to a 2) during 1st grade to a B/B+ during 6th grade (2022). The school started enrolling students in FirstInMath during 4th grade and during 4th grade, my son would play some math games and learn math along the way, and he essentially scored higher than any student at his school and amongst the top in his school district, and by the end of 4th grade, my son had some knowledge in Algebra/Pre-Algebra already. During 5th grade in early 2022, my son won the school's science fair where he developed an LED glove and he was inducted to the local science museum to compete with 5-8 graders in his county. He was ready to do the next big project in Robotics and computer science during 6th grade but because we moved to another district next door by buying a bigger house, he wasn't able to continue. In the early half of 6th grade when he was still at the old district, everybody at his school (4-6th grade only, no K3) was made to take the Geography Bee for the first time, and he came out as a winner and was inducted to a county-wide tournament (again, for another subject). Even though he couldn't map every single country (some obscure island nations in the Pacific), he could nonetheless map every European/Asian/North/South American country and list the capitals of every European country and most Asian/North/South American countries. He even won a county-wide math award as well early in his 6th grade. He has gotten perfect math MCAS scores during 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, but his ELA hovered around Partially Meeting Expectations and Meeting Expectations and has not taken the MCAS since. During summer 2022, before 6th grade and right after his 11th birthday, he also registered to a music competition at the NE Conservatory in Boston where he actually won against 11 year olds playing Mozart Fantasy No 4 and Chopin Grande Valse Brilliante. After starting online school and moving to my uncle and aunt's house in Quincy in February 2023 because he wanted to push himself further, he started with the 2nd half of 6th grade and 7th grade math at an online self paced school he wanted to attend to try to accelerate his education and by mid-April, he started the 7th grade and Algebra. By mid-August, he finished that and took a month break, travelling to Europe (Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana, Salzburg, and Munich) with my uncle (78M) and aunt (76F). In October, he started 8th grade and took Geometry/Algebra II and even though he got straight A, his English grades actually did improve to an A- at the online school, and by mid-January, he started the 9th grade as well as Pre-Calculus while waiting for his 65k private school to answer to him.
My uncle and aunt is also talking to the online school about allowing his 9th grade credits to transfer (he does take some courses at a local community college in the meantime to make himself more competitive and to help those transfer as 9th grade credits). I have heard that my son is looking at SAT content and doing some practice problems for the SAT, looking up AP courses he will take during 10th grade like AP World History, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science A, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C, AP French, etc, and he is also looking at the possibility of taking Multivariable Calculus and LineaAbstract Algebra in alter years. He has also thought about joining several STEM related clubs at the new school and joining the student government at his future school, and is considering hard on AMC 12, currently working on some AMC 12 problems as well as looking up IMO, USACO, USAPhO, USNCO, as well as Intel's ISEF.

38 y/o male, unofficially diagnosed with either hypermobile Ehlers Danlos or just generalized hypermobility without much skin extensibility, after searching for years for a reason for severe chronic fatigue and hypersomnia.
TL;DR When I was around 12 or 13 years old I went from a thin and energetic kid to being obese very quickly. Developed purple striae on underarms and armpits, belly and hips, thighs, buttocks. No fatty hump etc. Single morning collection cortisol test in 2021 was 18.7 mcg/dL with an upper reference range of 19.8. How likely was this to be a false negative for a cortisol problem?
More detail, between grade 6 and 7 I became obese and carry a lot of the weight in me belly and thighs although people often notice weight loss in my face. I’ve gone up too 305 lb ( I’m 5ft 11in) down to 180 lb and everywhere in between several times, although my body seems to really like the low 240 range, and my body shape has always been the same with overhanging belly fat forcing me to wear pants very low on my hips. All other symptoms except for a generally sensitive stomach and seasonal allergies also started around that time: “exercise induced asthma” which I now know is actually probably vocal chord dysfunction, chronic fatigue, sleeping 10-12 hours a night plus napping, bouts of severe intestinal pain right before defecating, IBS, bladder problems, bounding pulse and heart palpitations. Chronic headache came on in my 30s and is now daily with throbbing type pain mostly in my eyes, temples, upper gums, and behind my nose that almost never subsides. Presyncope has come on and gradually gotten worse, provoked by standing from laying, reclining, or crouching, although a handful of times it’s come on from strong positive or negative emotions. Generally feel tired and weak, unrestful sleep. Stopping lifting in 2022 after nearly fairing during a set of squats with a couple plates on the bar. The next year my resting heart rate started to gradually increase from 60-80 in the morning to 110-120, even 130, after a full day of working, I ended up taking a 3 month disability leave which helped with that specific problem.
I’ve had the standard blood tests several times, plus from the endocrinologist, and rheumatologist twice. MRI to rule out Chiari and cervical spine issues. Completely cleared by cardiologist including tilt table negative for POTS. Gastro did an upper endoscopy and only noted mild gastritis. Had 2 at home sleep studies, 2 in the lab, and 1 more in the lab to rule out narcolepsy.
At this point I’m at a loss. My muscles are burning and I’m out of breath after walking up a flight of stairs. I can’t mow my own lawn or play with my kid. I walk around like a zombie at work and honestly it’s probably not safe for me to drive in the morning the way my eyes are trying to close and that’s with Adderall, 600mg of caffeine, and some nicotine just to get my morning started, I use in excess of 1000mg caffeine daily for 15+ years now. And yet no single test has ever indicated any problem other than gastritis which 50% of the population has because America. I’ve also tried every imaginable supplement from vitamins, to adaptogens, herbal parasite cleanse, you name it. I harrangued my doctor into referring me to Vanderbilt University’s autonomic dysfunction unit because my uncle was diagnosed at Mayo with Pure Autonomic Failure, and his mom supposed had Shy-Drager (multiple system atrophy) but it’s been months and they haven’t even sent the new patient screening.
Desperate for answers, looking back through my records wondering if there’s something they could have missed.

Hey everybody,
Some time months ago I dropped a review for the Strength of Thousands adventure path, it got a kind reception from this sub so I’m back again with a review of Blood Lords. Like last time we ran through all six books, usually meeting 6 hours a week to play. I’m going to talk a little bit about each book and what stood out about them, as well as observations I have on the AP as a whole. Apologies for my inevitable grammar mistakes.
I meant to post this months ago, but I got very sidetracked by life. Anyway, let’s get into it.
Warning: there will be massive spoilers for this AP, skip to the bottom for a TL;DR and score out of ten
I allowed my players Free Archetype on the condition that they use it on one of the undead archetypes. Our party composition over the course of the campaign was:
Dwarf Mummy Fighter
Human Ghoul Sorcerer -> Human Skeleton Barbarian
Human Zombie Ranger -> Human Vampire Investigator
Human Summoner -> Human Bard -> Human Ghost Summoner (it was the original summoner returned as a ghost)
Synopsis:
The main draw of Blood Lords is that the PCs are citizens of the primarily undead nation of Geb, ruled by the ghost king of the same name. They start as unremarkable rank and file and eventually work their way through Geb’s government to become heads of state, the titular Blood Lords. The primary conflict of the adventure is a poisoning plot enacted by the nation’s second most powerful political figure, Chancellor Kemnebi.
That said, let’s get into the book-by-book breakdown!
Book One: Zombie Feast
This book does a good job of introducing the PCs to the dour but intriguing nation of Geb. It also introduces their relationship with the (living) Blood Lord Berline Haldoli, which lasts through the end of the AP. I’d recommend trying to get the PCs to have a good relationship with her as it will pay off narratively later.
Most notable moment: We actually had what was almost a TPK at the end of this book, in The Crooked Coffin mini-dungeon. The way it’s structured, enemies from one encounter, if not dealt with, will summon reinforcements from other rooms, who can then go on to collect even more reinforcements. I did my best to telegraph which enemies were sounding the alarm, but my players didn’t prioritize going after them. It resulted in what most have been an Extreme level encounter, and two of my PCs bought the farm. I don’t think the encounter was designed badly, my PCs just didn’t prioritize the right things tactically.
Book Two: Graveclaw
The PCs are now on the trail of the Graveclaw coven and its leader Iron Taviah. While Kemnebi is the main villain of the adventure he is in the background for 99% of it, Taviah is more or less the main antagonist for the first half of the AP. My players enjoyed hunting down the disparate members of the coven, and it also took them on a neat little tour of Geb.
Most notable moment: My PCs really enjoyed hunting down the Rust Hag Decrosia in the town of Pagked, which is like the “Little Alkenstar” of Geb. If you happen to have a gunslinger PC, they will probably enjoy this chapter a lot thematically, and it’s probably the most organic opportunity to throw some class-specific loot their way.
Book Three: Field of Maidens
A lot of interesting things go down in this book. One of the most significant things is the introduction of the old graveknight Spymaster Seldeg Bhedlis, much like Berline from book one, the relationship the PCs cultivate with him will have repercussions throughout the rest of the adventure. Iron Taviah is also resurrected as a vampire spawn, leading to a final showdown with her and the PCs. This adventure also brings the PCs to Geb’s borders where they must deal with the interests of other nations who have been drawn to the Field of Maidens for their own reasons. It also feels like the first definitive step the PCs take toward their ultimate destiny as Blood Lords.
Most notable moment: I think the moment that had the biggest impact was the reveal of Kemnebi as the mastermind behind the poisoning plot. As Kemnebi is second only to Geb in the nation’s power structure, the PCs almost couldn’t have made a worse enemy. Even though they are about to become Blood Lords they have an uphill battle between now and the end of the campaign.
Book Four: The Ghouls Hunger
After a bit of performative politicking the PCs are now Blood Lords. Unfortunately for them, new Blood Lords are nothing special in Geb. It’s even implied that people have become Blood Lords due to clerical errors before. The PCs first meeting with Geb is awesome, but it also demonstrates how beneath his notice junior BL’s are. It also introduces Kortash Khain, ruler of the ghoul city of Nemret Noktoria, and though he is only relevant to this book he is a lot of fun.
The primary antagonist of this book is Blood Lord Hyrune and his three stooges, I won’t delve too much into them, suffice to say they are clowns of the highest order. It’s a fun rivalry to cultivate though, and it gets resolved relatively quickly. It also results in the PCs first true demonstration of their competence to Geb.
Most notable moment: Geb publicly calling out Hyrune for being a bitch after the PCs defeat his champions in the arena is pretty great. Even better when he air drops the PCs Hryune’s location and dips out. For all his flaws, a micromanager Geb is not.
Book Five: A Taste of Ashes
Things are getting spicy in the AP at this point. Kemnebi’s machinations and their grave implications are clear, but the PCs have no proof and therefore cannot move against him. This leads them to the metropolis of Yled, a city which has a ton of its own baggage without considering Kemnebi’s plotting.
Most notable moment: There’s a section that takes place in a strange magical playhouse, and the PCs have to act in it. They get lines and everything, it’s pretty amusing.
Book Six: Ghost King’s Rage
At the end of the last book the PCs have what is essentially video evidence of Kemebi’s betrayal. Geb isn’t thrilled about his number two planning a power grab, unsurprisingly. I loved RPing any scene Geb appears in, and this one especially was great fun. It also cements the PCs roles are highly effective agents of the nation and makes it clear that once Kemnebi is out of the way, the PCs are going to replace him in the nation’s power structure.
Also, as part of the ritual components Geb needs to facilitate Kemnebi’s destruction he asks for several optional ritual components. In that vein, he asks you to essentially destroy Seldeg Bhedlis and kill Berline Haldoli, and these two have likely been the PCs most stalwart allies up to this point. There are a number of ways to handle this without offing these two NPCs, but it does create an interesting predicament for the players.
As for the final fight with Kemnebi, my PCs didn’t struggle with it at all. They had taken out his backup bodies prior to fighting him and at this point they were so strong they had an answer to anything he threw at them. Then we had a final scene of Geb letting the nation know the PCs are a pretty big deal. I also had a cameo from the only PC to survive Strength of Thousands here, which was fun.
Most notable moment: The toughest and most epic fight of our run was actually in the first chapter of this book. The PCs have to infiltrate the Boneyard (yes, that Boneyard) to acquire a critically needed soul. The final fight is against what is essentially a psychopomp dragon, and he’s awesome. The difficulty of this fight depends on how effectively the PCs have infiltrated the area, but even on the easiest version of the fight really tested my players.
Things that could use improvement:
-Blood Lords seems like a great AP to let your players use the undead archetypes/ancestries from Book of the Dead, doesn’t it? The player’s guide even says as much. And yet, SO MANY ENEMIES in this AP have abilities that only affect the living. Whether it be ghoul paralysis or negative damage, a fully (or mostly) undead party is going to have a much easier time than a living party. Yet it really feels like they wrote this adventure with a mostly living party in mind. That said, undead PCs are just stronger in general thanks to their extra resistances and there are a few encounters with enemies who do positive damage or are otherwise well-equipped to fight undead. It just seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity to have undead PCs mostly fight other undead.
-Kemnebi was a total pushover, my PCs got whiplash beating him so quickly after the absolute monster that was the final boss of SoT.
Positives:
-My fighter PC looted a magical scythe from the zombie “boss cow” of the first dungeon and upgraded and used it throughout the entire AP. A good example of a solid game mechanic working as intended.
-I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Geb the character is awesome. Shoutout to Khortash for being equally compelling. I also liked Seldeg a lot.
-A lot of thought was put into the worldbuilding with Geb and how a nation of undead might function socially and economically, it's neat.
In conclusion:
Ultimately it was a fun ride, and it was very different from every other Pathfinder campaign I’ve run. If I had to stack it up against SoT, I’d probably say my players and I enjoyed that one slightly more. But both adventures are great, and I would easily recommend either of them.
Final score: 7/10
Also (because I took so long to post this) we’ve also cleared Fist of the Ruby Phoenix in the interim, which is probably my group’s favorite AP that we’ve completed. I’ll try and throw up a review for that one of these days.

This is a long post sorry in advance. But I applied in the 2023-2024 cycle to 25 schools. Had 3 IIs that all ended in WLs. I know it’s not over but I’ve accepted that this year may not be it for me. Please help me figure out any application issues:
Stats: - Graduated Dec 2023 (0.5 gap year so far), 3.93 cGPA, 3.89sGPA - VA resident (only since 2022) but ties to PA (alma mater in Philly) and NH (Legal residence until 2022) - 514 MCAT (129/126/129/130) - Asian ORM

Clearly I have 16 activities so I have to remove one of them or figure out how to recombine them haha. I also helped organize my school’s anti-war protest encampment but unsure if I should add that under advocacy because it's too politicized right now.

What I think my weaknesses were: Anxiety. I really think my pitfall was extreme anxiety at the time of the interview. I have a stutter that is handled well in everyday situations but when it came to the interview with my career on the line everything went to shit. I forgot my speech techniques, which made me more flustered as I literally could not speak fluently. I’m currently on Propranolol haha and it’s been so helpful to mitigate my anxiety-related stutter in these type of situations. Possibly another weakness of mine were my secondaries. They were rushed since I did not pre-write and I would admit that the IIs came from the schools where my secondaries were stronger. They weren’t necessarily bad but I struggled with certain prompts like adversity and diversity. Lastly, I had some really good LORs for sure while others were still positive but generic.
Likely upcoming weakness: - Volunteering and Shadowing. I didn’t do much volunteering or shadowing in the last year other than the soup kitchen in my fall semester. I couldn’t continue that into the following semester since I no longer was part of the sorority technically since I graduated and the soup kitchen only takes organization volunteers. I also didn’t shadow. This is on me though because I was honestly getting burnt out and delusional and wanted to spend time on hobbies and fun activities (like dance crew and creative writing).
