The other night I happened to see one on the curb and grabbed it. I have been looking for one to add to my 22" BS and pellet grill/smoker. We had a 2000 Genesis Silver B for almost 20 years but space was limited when we moved and I had to downsize to a Q2200. I then bought a pellet grill and got rid of the Q2200. Besides the c. 2000 1000LX I restored at our camper, I've been without one for too long!
It was seldom used from what I can tell, literally maybe 2 dozen times. The original shine is on much of the insides and on the enameled cast iron grates. Flavorizer bars were rusty, crossover tube split, igniter rusted out, one caster is broken, regulator was bad, and only 1 burner worked right. Took it apart and cleaned it up, I had a regulator on hand already. Got all 3 burners working great. After wire brushing the burners, they're actually all very solid still. No rusted out portions. Even though I ordered the burner set (simply because it was cheaper to get all of them vs just the crossover tube) I'm not so sure I need to replace the other burners. Is it beneficial to just do all of them now, or should I run with it and replace them when they inevitably do rust out?

After 170,000 miles (at least 50k pulling this little camper), my 2018 is SE is starting to get tired. I’ve loved the car. It’s been a beast. Tires lasted 80,000 miles. Brakes 125,000 miles. No problems when I pushed it a little over the GVWR.
But now I’m seeing oil leaks. I replaced the valve cover gasket. Now there’s a small leak from the front crank seal. I’m giving one of those gasket-restoration additives a try. They are supposed to prolong the life of seals and gaskets. Any recommendations?
Meanwhile, I’m thinking I’ll switch out for a newer Atlas at 200,000 miles. For what it’s worth, I think that’s what we can expect out of an Atlas that has hard duty. With lighter duty, maybe 300k?

It had some minor cracks in the top layer of the roof (nothing that was leaking all the way through) so I attempted to repair the cracks myself. Long story short, that did not work…. The entire top layer of plastic is pealing off. Underneath is an epoxy foam layer (I assume, honestly not entirely sure). I am now wondering if anyone has any ideas going forward? My thought is to peel the rest of the top plastic layer off and restore it somehow, but I am hesitant because I screwed up once already. I recently took a trip into the backcountry with a group of friends, and we decided to give the Cabela's West Wind 6-Person Camo Dome Tent a try. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised by its sturdy yet comfortable design.

Last summer, I went on a camping trip with my family, and I decided to bring our new Cabela's Big Country 6-Person Cabin Tent along. I have to admit, I was quite excited to test out this tent because I had heard great things about it. Hello there,
I have an old 1987 Citroen C25 Atlanta Camper, which has been beautifully restored to its original state. The previous owner added 2 185 WP solar panels, a second 100 Ah battery and installed LED lights. We'd now like to change the old Electrolux 3-way fridge to a newer 12v compressor, since it's not the best and we have enough solar power to forget about the gas. We're currently looking at the Freeline 115 (couldn't provide a link since I'm new here).
I made a schematic with all the electrics in our van. In the center there's this main control-unit where the various loads and devices come together and where the 230V-12V converter charges the battery when plugged in. As of now (not on the schematic), the 3-way-fridge is hooked up to the "7. FRIDGE+" connector, which is internally triggered by the "8. IGNITION 12V" bus to only provide 12V when the engine is running.
I have a couple of questions:
1) as you can see, there are some free bus bars on the central control unit (AUX1 and AUX2). Would I be able to power the new compressor fridge with 12V directly from one of these two connectors?
PRO:
- the connectors have a built-in fuse 8 amp-fuse. According to the manual, the Freeline draws 6A max current, so the fuse seems sufficient, correct?
- the AUX1 and AUX2 have a built-in switch, which would allow me to easily turn power off to the fridge. However, the Freeline manual demands a switch capable of 15A-load (which seems weird, since it draws 6A max) and I'm not able to check the amp-rating of the built-in switch. Problem?
- I could simply re-use the existing fridge-cable and wire it to the aux-bus instead of the FRIDGE+ bus. It's a 2.5mm cross-section which is on the small side for a distance of about 4 meters, but then again, the old fridge has run perfectly on this wire for ages (and it used more amps), so I figured that wouldn't be a problem?
CONS:
- wiring the fridge to the main bus-board might not be as efficient as wiring it straight to the battery. That would also be an option, but that would mean I'd have to drill an extra hole through the chassis to go from the battery underneath the passenger seat to the kitchen and I'd have to buy, wire and install an extra switch and fuse.
Thoughts?
2) I'm reading all kinds of different opinions online, but would it be bad for my battery life when hooked up to shore-power to simultaneously charge (230V) and discharge (fridge) the battery? I wouldn't think so, since lights, pump etc... also discharge the battery, but of course they're not running 24/7 like the fridge would. On average the Freeline 115 uses 35 Ah/day (24 hours).
3) Side question: if you take a look at the electrical schematic, do you see a point where I could add a decent battery monitor through a shunt? If I understand it correctly I should wire it in between the Battery- and Loads-, but in my case the mains board sits in between. Or could I just bridge it in between bus 6. LOADS- and bus 9. BATTERY-

I have a small 9v dehumidifier that always defaults to off when the power is supplied. I have it inside a camper trailer, with the water fed to outside of the trailer via tube. The camper gets 240v supplied for about 30minutes every day via a smart plug and home assistant. The dehumidifier uses a 240v to 9v wall adapter. With that in mind, I need the dehumidifier to be on when the power is restored.
The issue is that the action to turn on the dehumidifier is to touch the plastic top, and it senses the hand and uses that to turn on. I don't know if I can do something to route around this. I do have experience with esp8266 and esp32 if that can be used to fake a hand swipe. Else maybe a small mod to the device circuit board?
Circuit board pics are attached. The large spring sensor is soldered just above the G2 on the underside. There is another wire from the spring that enters through the board, but it is not connected to the circuit. The contact sensor spring goes through the R3 1K resistor, and into the chip which I cannot find online.

Very excited about finding this one!
1966 Datsun Cedric P130 Wagon with LD28 in it!
It lived its life in the mountains of thailand and been used as a taxi until the 1990’s and after that as a camper. It’s been in one family all its existence and been handed down within that family.
We’ll give it a brand new leather interior, Watanabe wheels and lower it. The whole undercarriage will get checked and suspension parts restored. Full transmission and engine overhaul.
I’m still unsure about a repaint, as it shows its heritage beautifully and in my opinion should be kept as is.
It’s absolutely rust free and a GREAT base to work with. I’m still speechless. What a gem.
She’ll be for sale later this year. Possibly already for the US summerseason. I’m a restorer and exporter directly based in Thailand.
