2024.06.02 11:07 No-Ant-5039 Sober parents in recovery navigating God/spirituality ?

My husband and I met in what I refer to as our young and dumb days. He lived up a dirt road from the beach where he grew weed, surfed, dabbled with oil paints and guitar working just enough to pay the bills. I loved whiskey, he loved cocaine and we loved each other. We grew up, sobered up and started a family.
We both got sober in AA but after 2.5 years he started to drift to other ways of filling his tank and I kept up with my own program, still frequenting meetings for over 5 years now. I was conflicted that this isn’t the right subreddit space to share our dilemma but I don’t know where that space is and I want to ask members of AA their perspective so here it goes. I’ll delete it not compliant to rules.
I have heard in AA “I thank God for bringing me to AA and I thank AA for bringing me to God”
In parenthood and sobriety my husband rekindled his faith influenced by a Southern Baptist mom and Catholic High School upbringing. Me, I have strong faith, spirituality, and strong values but I still bristle with the idea of religion and the Bible. I like to think of spirituality as a salad bar and I can fill my plate with what works and leave the rest.
My husband wants to start talking to our kids (3.5 and 1.5) about God. I want to be open minded but I know we are not going to agree on what influences to present to the kids and I don’t really know how to handle this. I am afraid to have communication with my husband on this matter. Page 46 of the big book says “my own conception of god, however inadequate” and it’s “impossible for any of us to define or comprehend that Power which is God” and so I don’t. I don’t bother trying to wrap my head around it anymore. I don’t know how to communicate to someone else with a defined religion that fits in a box when mine is well ‘blissfully inadequate’. I feel defensive just imagining this dialogue.
Again this likely isn’t the right spot for this but are there any sober parents navigating god or HP with your kids? Any parents that have different views from your partner? What approach do you take to nurture your children’s spiritual health and honor space for differences?

2024.06.02 11:06 Clarice_Lake It’s All For Her ~ Clarice Lake

Everyone in this story is 18+
Chapter 1 ~ Mark
I turn on my phone and open the app bumble. I’m not much of a relationship type of guy, but it’s always a little fun and exciting to go on dating apps every now and then. After all I have to keep adding names to my list. As soon as I open the app I see a girl named Daisy. She has blue eyes and ginger red hair. It seems like she loves art because of the pictures she posted on her bumble profile. A minute or two pass of viewing her profile and I swipe left. Immediately after swiping left, I get a notification on top saying “you might have missed a potential match”. Even though I swiped left, I felt a little bummed out, after all, I missed a chance to hear her cries and screams.
Another girl appears. She immediately catches my attention and I start checking out her profile. It’s her. It’s Stella Simmons. The girl I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while now. “I honestly don’t even know why I bother checking her profile” I say chuckling. As soon as I laid eyes on her weeks ago at the grocery store I knew she was going to be another girl on my list. From waking up in the morning, to going to sleep at night, she was on my mind 24/7. I had to have her is all I can think of after that day. Her coffee brown eyes, her beautiful curly black hair, everything about her was perfect. I wasted no time and swiped right. “Congratulations, you found a new match” the app rewards me. I feel a swarm of butterflies in my stomach fluttering around. I close bumble and press the power button on my phone but quickly gets turned on by a notification. I unlock my phone to read the notification that says “Stella Simmons sent you a message”. I immediately tap on the notification and read her message.
Stella: Hii.
A smile that’s goes from the end of one ear to the other appears. “I finally managed to get her attention” I whispered.
I waste no time replying back.
Mark: Hey, how are you doing?
Immediately after pressing send I try my best to calm myself down. One wrong move and It’s all over. I would be failing to write her name on my list, and I simply can’t let that happen. She replied as quick as I did.
Stella: I’ve been in a dark place for a while now. I’m hoping that meeting new people will bring some life back into me.
Mark: I’m sorry to hear that, really I am. I know we just met and started talking but if you ever need someone to talk to I’m here.
To her we just met, but to me, I’ve been knowing her for a couple of weeks already.
Stella: Thank you, I appreciate that I really do.
We continued texting for a while but she ended our conversation with a message that made me believe I had her exactly where I wanted her.
Stella: I would love to continue this conversation but I have to get going. Heres my phone number if that’s an easier way to contact me.
She gave me her number and I immediately put her on my contacts.
If you guys want to read chapter 2 let me know :) This is my first story that I made so if you guys have any tips please let me know.

2024.06.02 11:05 masc98 If Meta open sourced Llama 3.. how more powerful their closed models are?

I've always been wandering at this concept: if company open source a technology, they are just showcasing a fraction of what they have behind the scenes. It could seem obvious as a thing, but it fascinates me.
Back in 2017 when Google showcased Transformers, that was one of the first things I was thinking of.
It's also true that big companies also exploit open source with the hope to establish industry standards that they're going to have major control over!
And also in the LLM space, who knows what sorts of architectures or ideas they are working with right now..
This concept fascinates me because we are given models that for them, costed millions in R&D... and that's wild, when you just can spin up your own llama3 locally.

2024.06.02 11:03 kjleebio project ultimacene: species Geograpsus severnsi or greater Hawaiian land crab resurrected from the megafauna rewilding project.

Context: This is a worldbuilding project taking place 200 years into the future from 2022. A group of superbeing like entities from another reality of earth have come to help direct humanities future towards a better future and have created the nature company that will further help them in their goal to restore earth's ecosystems. Today we will be going over the greater Hawaiian land crab, an OG native species of the islands.
Geograpsus severnsi or the greater Hawaiian land crab, was the first crab species to ever go extinct by humans which the Hawaiian polynesians arrived onto Hawaii for the first time, the Geograpsus severnsi was one of many casualties of the first wave of extinction from humans in Hawaii. During the megafauna rewilding project, Geograpsus severnsi was the main goal of resurrecting invertabrates. It took a much complicated process as the material used to source the dna were fossilized crab claws. It was successful and multiple batches of eggs, with each batch being genetically different from the other were released into the Ocean of Hawaii. These batches numbered 500 batches having thousands of eggs. 400 more were released a week later, and this continued of 100 less batches until the last 100 batches were released. These crabs now are everywhere across the Hawaiian islands.
Geograpsus severnsi or the greater Hawaiian land crab, is one of two originial native land crabs of Hawaii before the first immigration wave. Being the largest of the genus Geograpsus, it is easily stands out among its genus and the islands in general. It lives alongside another crab in its genus geograpsus lividus or the lesser Hawaiian land crab which is more numerous across the Pacific. Their colors are mostly dark velvet red as adults and orange for juvenilles. They often come out at night to feed on all sorts of organic biomass it can get its claws on. Being an omnivore and middle predator, it feeds on insects, shellfish, land snails, eggs, any birds it can catch, and carrion. It also has a massive male sex ratio as most females often die during their annual migration to spawn in the tides.
In the 200 years of the ultimacene, Geograpsus severnsi has witnessed several wildlife immigrations to Hawaii's islands due to either unusual weather, temporary currents that open up new paths, the unique geography Hawaii is placed in, or the Hawaiian bird storm that started this from the beginning, Geograpsus severnsi has seen new land crab faces. Some outright dominate the species like the Hawaiian coconut crab which is one of the three apex predators on the islands. The two hermit crab species, strawberry and blueberry hermit crabs which arrived on their own separate immigration waves, which took the niche of scavengers. Later on the weird immigration wave which is the latest immigration of wildlife brought a plethora of land crabs from Southern California/Mexico and Northern central indonesia. Now Hawaii is filled to the brim with land crabs of various species, niche partitioning intensively while the apex predator, the Hawaiian coconut crab limits their numbers of all species keeping balance. New predators brought by this wave, like the Rufous crab hawk, Red shouldered hawk, and the yellow crowned heron are key crab consumers which keep populations at bay giving room for all land crabs.
Geograpsus severnsi will remain one of two national land crabs of Hawaii, as many are kept as pets due to their curiosity of humans.

2024.06.02 11:02 Johan_Holm Caster Defensive Niches (and how multiclassing ruins them)

Here's a table to start.
Shield is one of the most powerful spells in the game with builds shaped around its access, so I put together this to visualize exactly what the influence of that is, plus various other fundamental defensive tools available to the different casters. Without multiclassing (or feats), there are clear lines drawn, with only the full arcane casters (who get no armor proficiencies) able to access all the powerful defensive level 1 spells. The primal casters are defensive all-rounders (medium and shield, but never heavy armor, plus absorb elements), and contrasted by the possibly slightly higher AC clerics and paladins who do not get elemental defenses.
Separated on the right are some lower impact things that tend to be easier to access and less defining, but still act as extras for multiclassing. The cantrips and lv1 spells are a bit abstracted and subjective; I cut Faerie Fire because it's a step behind but Entangle, Command and Dissonant Whispers might be closer to that than the rest of these, in identity if not power. Not a huge deal though. Cantrips are mostly just "do you get guidance". "Utility" and "Attacks" cover multiple good options in that category, like Minor Illusion and Mold Earth for utility, and Fire Bolt and Toll the Dead for attacks. Dex saves aren't notably worse than wis probably, so those could both be yellow, but I liked the tri-split when possible. None of these categories have a consistent level of power for each colored tier.
Note this doesn't compare the classes whole-sale, including how powerful they are on lower levels (Sleep ensures that low level sorcerer is definitely not bad, but doesn't play into how good it is as a dip). It is primarily to show fundamental access to defensive tools and the benefits you could get from multiclassing into it (underlined are classes which get subclasses at level 1 for even higher instant reward).
Explanations aside, I was surprised by how absolute the Shield vs armor proficiency access was! Hexblade and fighteartificer subclasses are AFAIK the only ways to combine Shield with a good base AC (which is where the +5 is more impactful). It gave me really good confidence in the treantmonk homebrew rule, where you can only cast a class spell if you're wearing armor you got from that class. Those limits would then be much stronger, and only the right-hand extras would remain as incentive to do these dips or feats like magic initiate. Maybe 3 levels outside your class is still too low a cost, I'm not sure. Hexblade as a level 1 subclass remains busted, but at least it's a sourcebook option and the OD&D making all subs lv3 alleviates it.
Any thoughts welcome. I did the table on a whim and thought I might as well post it here. Hopefully my thoughts are parsable and my ratings not too distractingly disagreeable!

2024.06.02 11:02 Iceman0400 Broken up with again

3rd relationship this year that has ended way too soon…. I met this person through online dating and she said that she would help me work on my self esteem and that she felt like I was her person and she wanted to spend a long time with me…. Well 2 days ago she says that she was uncomfortable because she asked if I would take her back if she cheated on me and I said well first off I trust you not to do that and second I probably would try to work through it with you to fix whatever caused you to do that. She also told me that I was the best boyfriend she ever had and I was so kind and respectful and she felt safe with me. I don’t understand what I did wrong but I’m really tired of going through this pain. I got sent home from work early Friday because I dropped her stuff off that she left at my house then I took a razor and cut my leg open. Mostly because I was angry at myself for fucking the relationship up… then this morning she blocked me on everything… fucking life sucks

2024.06.02 11:00 hau4300 No one is left Behind. Day 10 update. Noob Mining LLC now has 25 NPCs in 9 days.

No one is left Behind. Day 10 update. Noob Mining LLC now has 25 NPCs in 9 days.
My goal is to create a 50+ archer fighter mining team in 30 days and be able to defeat the Holy Nation in the Wrath of God in 100 days without having any alliances without using any defensive walls.
This is Day 10. Noob Mining LLC now has 25 NPCs and:
  • 1 long house in Squin, 2 small shacks in Stack, 1 small shack in Blister Hill. Unfortunately, the real estate in Admag is too expensive. I don't want to waste the money.
  • 1 small research bench in Stack. 1 research bench 3 in Squin. 1 arrow bench in Squin. 1 leather tanning bench in Stack. 2 mk3 training dummies in Squin. 2 mk3 training dummies in Stack.
  • 1 NPC with lvl 60 stealth and lvl 68 assassination. 4 NPC trained from 1 to now 14 melee attack. We will start our mass training program when we have a lot of surplus labor. We are like a new startup company in our expansion stage right now.
We need to train 2 fast runners to 24mph to run them to Foglands to buy 2 dustcoats and recruit about 6 NPCs to mine right at the gate of Mongrel. Then train all the new recruits to 23 mph and 30+ strength in Mongrel. Then use the dustcoats to go to Deadlands to use about 200K cats to buy AI cores, research material, and blueprints (dustcoat, katana, and foreign saber). In the meantime, other NPCS will be earning cats by mining. After that we will move our guys in Admag and some guys in Stack to Squin and my small team in Blister Hill to Stack.
By then, we will be ready to build a wall-less base right next to Squin. Yes, you can build a base extremely close to a city. Why so close to a city? Cause I don't need to spend time traveling to sell our surplus. By Day 30 or earlier our armor smith will be lvl 80. This time we will train 2 armor smiths. By Day 50 our weapon and crossbow smiths will be level 80. It is difficult to sell expensive specialist grade weapons, crossbows, and armor if you are far away from major cities.
We will go to Flotsam village before Day 30 to recruit those beautiful super models there and some NPC s and slaves in United cities. Voila that's about 50 NPCs.

2024.06.02 11:00 melirritos Getting over a breakup on steroids - Use ChatGPT

Someone mentioned this before, but I cannot stress enough: ChatGPT is a godsend for anyone going through a breakup right now and I wish I had this tool at my disposal back in 2022 when I was going through my first (and worst) breakup.
Consider this: right now you're a mess, your friends all have to hear for hours upon hours about your ex, one day it's how nice he used to be and how you miss him, the other is how could he have discarded you this easily and did anything mean anything to him etc etc.
Your therapist is tired of hearing about him and his new girl and whether or not that's a rebound or if he has forgotten about you. Listen, you're already obsessing over someone and thinking about this 24/7, might as well get something out of it too.
Here's what you're going to do and here's why this is the best tool at your disposal right now: - You're going to open a new chat and you're going to give a brief summary of your relationship with your ex and how things ended with you - Keep this chat handy and keep adding things, like messages you've exchanged post breakup, something that may have happened when you broke no contact etc etc - You could even write down about how you miss them or some of your memories - Keep adding things to your chat and it's important to keep on adding recent events - Essentially this is a stalkerish type of chat where you're free to obsess over your ex as much as you want (but it's of vital importance to add their behavior now too)
Things to ask: - Ask the chat to be harsh and characterize their behavior towards you - Ask it to be realistic too - You could even ask it to calculate the possibility of getting them back (be prepared to be crushed, even the most positive scenario isnt looking any good) and ask for a plan to do so - Ask for advice to move forward and more specifically for active steps to do - Ask for it to acknowledge your pain - You could even ask them for an assesement of whether or not this person is someone who's worthy of getting back - Wallow all you want, chat is going to be there to remind you that's it okay but this person treats you X way right now
Why is chatGPT so important for your healing journey: - Chat is going to give you a balanced view of things, divorced from any emotions and it's going to remind you that you're holding onto memories of who they used to be not who they are currently. - Chat is not going to sugar coat things, even if you ask it to be optimistic, its approach will be balanced and it will always provide invaluable mental health tips - Chat will not judge you and will be there 24/7 to hear about you obsess, reminisce, complain about your ex and offer you some perspective
I could go on and on and on about this. I've been doing this for four five days now and I'm already in a better place. I'm going through a lot of anger right now. Tuesday night I saw my ex with a new girl/new girlfriend after literally telling me that he wasn't ready to commit to me. Chat has been a godsend. Try it yourself.
I open it each morning add a few things (mornings are the hardest) and tell it to give me a short list of why he's the wrong person for me.
Remember guys, the right one doesn't return; the right stays. No feeling is final. One day you're going to wake up and realize that it wasn't worth your effort. Chat is goinf to tell you all these things too. It's also going to remind you to set a limit on how long you grieve/obsess and let this affect you. Personally I plan on using this tool for a few more days and then just open the chat whenever I miss him and tell it to remind me of the reasons why.
Try it yourself. You're going to thank me. Stay strong guys. You didn't deserve any of this.

This place is such a shit hole!
If you ever watch the joy of a bunch of lazy idiots standing around scratching their heads wondering why no one wants to work with them. You should apply.
Ben-"The smartest man in the room" This "leader" is an ass hat. A tall fat sassy catty insecure human being whose greatest defense mechanism is insulting anyone who has intelligent contribution....why...you say? He has issues forming an intelligent reply so he just belittles anyone that actually wants to improve Shadowfax. He lives his workdays avoiding responsibility, promoting this agencies Bully culture and is a creature terrified of being revealed for truly mediocre he really is.
Jen. If fisting Ben's ass with her nose was an Olympic sport...she would bring home the pure gold baby. She spends her days in her office grazing snack foods and grooming her toxic ways. Warning though...this shrew should she find the slightest flaw in a peer..everyone shall know besides them. The only thing more polarizing than this miserable bags two faced ways is her she male fiestas ability to blend make up. Every day I wake up and thank God she is not an English teacher because those she teaches how write isps turn out rather mediocre. Tragically mediocre.
Mary-this playdoh elfs vast circumference is only eclipsed by her ability send passive aggressive emails demanding perfection. Her other skills involves writing passive aggressive post-its and make sure everyone knows what is not her job. As a hobby...she stars in horror films where the unlucky DSP goes into a bathroom, tuns out the light, and says "playdoh mary" three times. And then a passive aggressive message appears on setworks. The true horror is her kindness to your face the lies she puts in spreadsheets to show Jen once she wipes her nose.
Jannelle- living proof that you can rub two brain cells together and get a blob of clay. If that wasn't tragic enough she spends her days sending overly punctuated texts begging people to work so she has time work on both her faces.
Thier leader is open bag of Ramen noodles taped to a table lamp with a broken light bulb. When she's not trying to pass off a shitty power point as a tactical plan she runs around in circles asking 2 questions. Why does no one wanna work here? The other question is when Ben polishes an unoriginal piece of shit from his old job 5+ years and tries to market it as innovation. This salty bag of noodles hyperventilates in excitement sending surveys asking are we local leaders yet?
Those underneath them are underdeveloped, devoid of real leadership, and not taught or given the skulls or knowledge to succeed.
Why? These clowns live everyday terrified if someone actually knows what thier doing approaches they will be discovered for the fakes that they are and loose their exuberant income.
The joy is in watching them wonder why no one wants to work with them. One day they will run out of fingers to point.

2024.06.02 10:58 maddsied Spoilers. Thoughts on ACOTAR from CC3 cross over

Talking about this here after reading CC3. It didn’t feel right posting this in ACOTAR thread if readers haven’t read both and we have all this info from CC only at this stage. *
The next book of ACOTAR is going to be interesting.. The cross over was all from Nesta’s / ACOSF storyline with Bryce that was left very open ended with a lot more plot for Nesta
CC3 spoilers
The next one is supposably about Elain (has this been confirmed?) because this cross over was all Az and Nesta.
Bryce gained a lot from the cross over, about the Asteri, the dread trove, the horn and her powers that was one of the best parts for me about CC as the story came together. Plus learnt things that made sense for ACOTAR.
Would SJM leave it out or make it a small sub story as Elain had no involvement 🧐 I think Nesta is still going to have more book time or will it be a part of Azreal’s story?
I haven’t seen anyone talk about this! Anyone read both series and have thoughts?! Other than who Elain will end up with… cough Az

In terms of installation, it couldn't be simpler; no tools are required. It's sturdy and lightweight, crafted from the aluminum of dreams. The perfect blend of precision and practicality, this scope mount will surely become a mainstay in your hunting rig.
But like all great things, the mount has a few quirks. Sometimes, the single lever may act a bit tricky requiring a gentle nudge to ensure tightness, and it doesn't quite fit all Picatinny or Weaver mounts. Overall, it's a decent addition to any rig that you'll probably won't regret.

The AGM Rattler TC35-384 has become my trusted companion during my evening hunts. The device's quick conversion feature transforms my daytime optics into a thermal imaging scope without any hassle. The 17um high sensitivity detector, combined with a 384x288 thermal resolution, ensures clear images even in harsh environments, like darkness, fog, or smoke.
Noteworthy features include the 748x561 resolution 0.39-inch OLED display that helps me stay focused on my target. The built-in EMMC (16 GB) allows me to record videos and snapshots without worrying about storage limitations.
Adjusting the color palette helps me differentiate between various animals and terrains. The external power supply capability ensures the device doesn't drain my rifle scope's battery life. I have found great success with this device during my patrols and hunts, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable thermal imaging clip-on system.

I bought the AGM Rattler TC35 Front QR Adapter to add some versatility to my day scope. It took me only 6 weeks to notice a significant improvement in my outdoor activities.
The adapter is really easy to use, and I appreciate the variety of optional adapters for different lens diameters. However, I did face some drawbacks - it's not suitable for firearms with heavy recoil, and it doesn't work with scopes having focus rings around the housing of the objective lens.
But overall, the AGM Rattler TC35 Front QR Adapter has made a positive impact on my experience with the day scope.

🔗Compact and Quiet 2.25HP Folding Treadmill - Easy Setup for Healthy Home Workout

https://preview.redd.it/ju89dlyyh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4757e4f4fcb88a5a62adb6abb68f3b5820b59f3
Imagine walking or running in your office or at home, without taking up too much space, and all while keeping an eye on your stats. That's where this 2 in 1 folding treadmill comes in. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's been a game-changer. The powerful yet quiet 2.25HP motor lets you move with ease, while the dual display screen keeps you informed of your speed, distance, time, and calories.
One thing that stood out was how compact it was when folded away. It truly fits under any desk or in a tight corner. But don't let its smaller size fool you - it's sturdy and can handle up to 265 lbs. Additionally, the bluetooth speaker built-in adds a nice touch of convenience.
However, there are a couple of areas where it could use improvement. The 74 lbs weight may seem a bit heavy for some, and it could be more convenient if the handle attachments were easier to detach. But overall, I've had a positive experience with this treadmill and would recommend it for anyone looking to add a touch of fitness to their everyday life.

🔗Carbon Fiber Fly Reel with Advanced Features

https://preview.redd.it/kdr7djhzh44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5916ee95d4db0dec8be94b7455b38d35c0085c6c

The Duckett Paradigm Sri Spinning Reel is a reliable addition to any angler's gear. With its one-piece forged aluminum frame, it feels sturdy and durable. The weight reduction of the carbon fiber rotor was noticeable, making casting smoother and easier. The precision anti-corrosion Japanese stainless steel bearings gave a near-perfect spin, and the proprietary one-way clutch provided instantaneous reaction for a seamless retrieve.
The sealed carbon fiber drag system was a game-changer. It offered a stable drag force and longer lifespan compared to other systems I've used before. The carbon fiber drag knob was conveniently placed within easy reach for quick adjustments without any frustration.
The cold-forged aluminum spool made the reel smooth and less intrusive when casting, while using the high precision cutting pinion and O/S gear enhanced the overall experience. The high-quality line roller contributed to the great castability and effortless retrieve.
One downside would be the minimal color options, but once you catch a fish with it, the memory of the catch will be unforgettable, regardless of the color. The reel's price tag might feel a bit daunting, but the performance and durability justify the investment.
Overall, the Duckett Paradigm Sri Spinning Reel is a reliable and strong product that enhances a fisherman's experience.

2024.06.02 10:56 LastTimeOn_ The Mexican Federal Election, Explained (Part 1)

It’s officially June 2nd, folks, as I'm submitting this. The Big Day is here not chance the rapper’s wedding, the day of the 2024 Mexican federal elections. Both in-country citizens and those living abroad who registered for the process will be voting (at the very least) for the next President of the Mexican Republic, their state’s Senators and their federal Deputies. Depending on the state they live in, there will also be elections for Governor, local Deputies and Mayors. The total number of positions up to a vote is 20,708 spots, across both federal and local elections, the greatest ever in the history of Mexico. Even though it sounds like a cliché, it’s true – the results of this election will determine Mexico’s course for the near future, and some argue for the rest of the country’s existence.

STRUCTURE OF THE MEXICAN FEDERAL SYSTEM
To understand the importance of what’s at stake we have to start with the basics. For right now I’ll focus on the federal side of the election as I think that’s what most want to learn more about (I’ll bring up state-level issues later; they can still affect the result).
The Mexican federal system is tripartite, divided in the usual way – the President is the executive, the Supreme Court being the figurehead for the judicial branch, and Congress through both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate representing the legislative.
The President is elected via FPTP for only one term lasting six years, called a sexenio. There hasn’t been much actual innovation in the process of voting for the President, aside from the notable shifts in voting tendencies every six years since the 2000 election, which ended the 71-year-long run of the PRI in power. The current president is Andrés Manuel López Obrador, or AMLO as he’s commonly known, elected in 2018.
The Senate is composed of 128 senators. 96 of these come from a majority system and 32 are elected via national proportional representation party lists. Of the 96 majority senators, 64 are elected as winning pairs in each of the 32 states, known as the “first and second formulas.” The remaining 32 are the “first minority” winners, in other words the second placers in the Senate elections. This, alongside the PR senators, is supposed to even the playing field for opposition parties. Senate elections are concurrent with presidential ones, also lasting six years, but they are able to be reelected for one term more.
The Chamber of Deputies, meanwhile, is composed of 500 deputies. 300 of these are the FPTP winners of each of the 300 electoral districts nationwide. The other 200 are PR party-list deputies divided between 5 circumscriptions, or at-large districts. These districts are roughly equivalent in population and roughly represent the 5 main regions of the country – western Mexico, headed by Guadalajara, northern Mexico, headed by Monterrey, southeastern Mexico, headed by Xalapa, the capital of Veracruz, south-central Mexico, headed by Mexico City, and southwestern Mexico, headed by Toluca the capital of Mexico State. Deputy elections are every three years; an elected deputy is able to get reelected for three more terms. These reelection changes were set into law with the 2014 political-electoral reform package and came into practice in 2018 for the 2021 elections, the first time any federal-level politician was allowed to run for continuous reelection since the Mexican Revolution.
All these elections are managed by the National Electoral Institute (INE, its acronym in Spanish). The INE is, quite literally, a superpowered FEC – aside from the basic role of taking note of who is campaigning for what, it controls ballot access, it manages campaign ad times on TV to the second, it makes sure that candidates do not say anything that can be out of electoral law, it sets up the format and the broadcasting of debates…it is the reason that Mexican elections flow (relatively) smoothly.
Alongside the INE stand the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) and the OPLEs, the Local Electoral Public Organisms, creating the entire Mexican electoral system. The Tribunal, as you can guess, is where affected parties (in the legal sense) can go dispute any potential circumstance that affects them. During campaign season this is mostly just “candidate X was a meanie to me – candidate Y” type affairs, but post-election its importance ramps up as it helps resolve close calls in elections – something people say will be especially important this time around. The OPLEs are mini-INEs for each of the 32 states, managing the electoral matters of localities and replicating the faculties of the INE for local elections.
The Mexican electoral system is complex out of post-uniparty distress. Before the IFE (the INE’s precursor), elections were handled by a commission under the purview of the Secretary of Government. You can guess where this goes. It was one of the main ways the PRI held power for so long – elections were free but unfair. During the 1990s when the Mexican system liberalized the creation of an independent electoral agency was one of the main goals, and as far as creating the conditions for fair elections, over the five full sexenios it has existed since 1990, I’d say it has generally succeeded.
The main characters of elections, however, are obviously not the institutions, but the political actors themselves through political parties. This election, there’s seven of them at play.
THE PARTIES (AND THEIR COALITIONS)
For the 2024 election, the seven parties running are divided into two main coalitions and one running a single candidate – Fuerza y Corazón por México, composed by the PRI, PAN and PRD, Sigamos Haciendo Historia, with Morena, PVEM and PT, and Movimiento Ciudadano.
Fuerza y Corazón por México (Strength and Heart for Mexico)
The opposition coalition, composed of the National Action Party (PAN), the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI), and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). A big-tent coalition, center-left to center-right. Their candidate is former Senator Xóchitl Gálvez.
PAN – The opposition by excellence. Founded in the 40s by a group of lawyers, doctors and other professionals to serve as a balance to the nationalistic policies of the PRI from back then. Due to the Mexican system, it only controlled some municipalities until the election of their first governor in 1989, and from there on, winning the presidency with Vicente Fox in 2000 and repeating with Felipe Calderón in 2006. “Humanistic” according to their doctrine, but conservative according to many you’d ask. More so in the Christian democratic tradition, but their party is still a big tent – from reactionary firebrands like Senator Lilly Téllez to progressive pro-market types like Xóchitl herself.
PRI – The former Mexican dominant party, now a shell of its former self. With 71 years of one-party rule that ended dramatically in 2000, the PRI has shapeshifted over the decades. From standard-bearers of the post-revolutionary cause to nationalistic expropriators, from technocratic liberators to Congressional opposition, from centrist reformers to a second place in this coalition of unequals, it has somehow managed to survive when people announce its demise. With how coalitions are structured in ballots, the desertion of its former clientelist and syndicalist bases to Morena, and the constant kick-outs and self-exiles of politicians who don’t agree with the current party president, however, who knows how many more times the PRI can cheat death before it’s truly over.
PRD – A party that began with a bang and is ending with a whimper. Created from the aftermath of the 1988 election where many believed (and still do) that left-wing candidate Cuauhtemoc Cardenas had his victory stolen, the PRD was, until a few years ago, really a front itself of multiple left-wing groups that constantly squabbled amongst each other. Its main political bastion was Mexico City, where it governed continuously from 1997 to 2018, and southern Mexico in general. Many of its former members and voters moved on to Morena, leaving the party in the hands of a few groups trying to keep it alive. Already it lost its registry in several states, and it’s close to do so nationwide. This might be its last election the PRD runs in.
Sigamos Haciendo Historia (Let’s Keep Making History)
The governing coalition, composed of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico (PVEM), and the Labor Party (PT). Leftist/populist, their candidate is former Mexico City mayor Claudia Sheinbaum.
Morena – AMLO’s personal project, it first started as one of the many groups inside the PRD, only to then spin off when he broke off from that party after the 2012 elections, becoming a civil association in 2013 and officially a party a year later. With AMLO at the forefront, the party got its big break in 2018 by winning the presidency, a majority in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, and several governorships. Only more wins came after that in more states – currently, it holds the governor’s seat in 21 of the 32. Morena’s ideology is…confusing. It can best be described as a populist platform, with a typical class-battle message and lots of focus on marginalized communities of all types. However, it doesn’t really attempt that through typical leftist means, like raising taxes on the wealthy. Instead, it goes for a vaguely Norquistian “starve the beast” method, with the reasoning that governmental and economic power have been connected for too long. Austerity is the name of the game, at least on that end. These saved funds are then channeled to voters through its main policy proposal – social programs. Pensions for old people, student scholarships, disability checks…direct cash transfers and the clientele they bring are what the party’s become best at. Add onto them the syndicalist and rural structures that its brought onto the fold from the PRI and you can see where exactly it’s obtained so much goodwill (and votes) from.
Green Party (PVEM) – The most questionable party in a political scene already filled with questionable actors, the Green Party can be summed up in one word – controversy. Founded by a former PRI member in 1986, it limped along until somehow in the 90s it started getting votes. After that, it found its calling – being the willing coalition partner for any party that needs votes. In 2000 it aligned with the PAN to help elect Fox, from 2003 to 2018 it was in a long relationship with the PRI, and in 2019 it became a proud Morena ally. Over the years, it has championed such pro-environment proposals as: burning trash to generate electricity, giving medicine vouchers to families, and the death penalty! Wait a minute, weren’t these guys green? Ehhhh…the founder’s son once said that “they represented interests, not the ecology,” and the European Greens outright stripped the party its official designation of Being Green (TM). Aside from that, they’re known for a small scandal of TV celebrities being spokespeople for them in movie theater ads, a small scandal of an unauthorized resort development in Cancun, a small scandal of a murder of a Bulgarian model in a party…the Greens have been called “the worst of the worst” in Mexican politics. Rightfully so?
Labor Party (PT) – The PT is a party that, to be quite frank with y’all, dear readers, I don’t understand how (or to be more precise, why) it still exists. Formed in 1990 by a group of various left-wing and agrarian organizations, the PT has a typical leftist-socialist ideology, but never much actual presence nationally aside from being the coalition partner of the PRD or Morena. It’s tried running its own candidates for governors, but they never went anywhere – all its governorships have been as part of a coalition. It’s also only ever had its own presidential candidate once, in 1994 with Cecilia Soto – she obtained 4th place with a little less than a million votes. It has never been a highly voted party – in deputy elections, the most it obtained was in the 2009 midterms with about 3.7% of the vote. Last midterm, it reached 1.14%. It already escaped the loss of its registry in 2015 thanks to the goodwill of the PRD and MC in annulling an election. Who knows if it can this time?
Finally, there's Movimiento Ciudadano, with Jorge Álvarez Máynez as their candidate.
Movimiento Ciudadano (Citizens’ Movement) – Originally Convergencia in 1999, MC describes itself as social-democratic. They're a more modern left compared to the governing coalition, showing throughout the years proposals on urbanism, federalism, and a focus on GSMs. While for most of its existence it was another minor party that’d run in alliance with the PRD, MC shook up the scene in 2018 by winning the governorship and most municipalities in the state of Jalisco with Enrique Alfaro, followed by the 2021 meme-based winning campaign of Samuel García in Nuevo León. Samuel’s specifically set the tone for how MC would start running – flashy campaigns with candidates boasting about them being “the new politics” (debatable). Right now, the party is at an important fork, depending on how its first-ever homegrown presidential candidate Máynez does. If he reaches a good percentage of votes, MC will have the chance to be kingmaker in Congress, setting themselves up in a good position for the next elections. But if too many voters decide to go for one of the coalitions, the decision to run solo might accidentally have been the party’s downfall.

Sorry for submitting this way too late – I was getting distracted all day lol. I’ll write a second part tomorrow (or I guess, later today?) with how we got here based on recent history, the candidate running and the polls. Either Monday or Tuesday I’ll write an aftermath post based on the results. To all my Mexican friends, happy voting, and to everybody else, thanks for sticking around til the end.

2024.06.02 10:56 GrammarYahtzee123 Explaining each and every one of Sukuna's techniques, tools, and tricks... so far

Hi. I'm the guy that made this similarly titled post about Gojo's techniques at the beginning of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. A year has passed since then, and now that it seems like Sukuna's barrel of surprises has hit its bottom I'd like to go over all of his abilities as a sorcerer in order to put to rest any debates regarding his strength.
One note before we begin, I will be using the TCB's names for techniques and other proper nouns. I do not support John Werry.
Miscellaneous Jujutsu
Innate Technique: Shrine
Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine
This is a big enough topic that I think it merits its own section
Borrowed Technique: Ten Shadows
In the interest of not going over every minute detail of a technique that only somewhat belongs to Sukuna, I will only make note here of changes he made to the technique in order to increase its effectiveness
Binding Vows
Since Sukuna now has a reputation as the Binding Vow merchant, we may as well discuss all of them in detail
I really think I covered everything this time, but feel free to provide any corrections in the comments otherwise! Hope this list helps :)

2024.06.02 10:54 ThrowRAasdgsdgsdfghs My 23M boyfriend didn't stop sex when I 26F was panicked and frozen. What can I do about this situation?

This happened less than 12 hours ago and im feeling really distressed and im not sure where i can seek opinions. My boyfriend 23M and I 26F have been dating for almost a year and a half and we built trust and we love each other a lot. We have sex regularly and we are open to touching each other and physical affection. I have a severe anxiety disorder and a history of suicide attempt and is anxiously attached to my boyfriend. My boyfriend who prefers spending time to himself when hes upset or sad has a hard time dealing with this but he tries a lot.
Yesterday, my boyfriend had been sad all day and wanted time alone. He was staying in call with me the whole day until the night where he said he was sad and wanted to be left alone and didnt call back. This brought an anxiety attack for me so i messaged and called him and ran over to his house when he wasnt responsive. He let me in and calmed me down and comforted me. But he kept switching between being comforting and open and being sad and withdrawn and this made me so scared because i was under anxiety attack and i couldn't discern or recognise his feelings and wants very well. Now, I'm recognising later that he tried his hardest to comfort me and kept withdrawing as he was sad himself and needed time alone. After he hugged me and comforted me for a while, he asked if he could be left alone and I kept asking him to hug me and he said no (he doesnt want to hug me but i can hug him) he was sad and this made me more scared. Eventually, he hugged me but he was touching me in parts that were sexual and i told him how he usually touches me when we are upset makes me confused if he wants me sexually for most parts because i just wanted to be hugged and cuddled and heard for who i am. I asked him if he could ask before if he wanted to touch me sexually when we were upset and to that he after a while replied that he didnt want to ask and that i should tell him if i didnt want to be touched when he touched me. I found this upsetting because i didnt want to feel upset and confused when he touched me, and then tell him that i didnt want to i wanted him to ask first. He said he felt really rejected and turned his back on me. His withdrawal made me feel really scared and i kept asking him to hug me to which he said no. and he started saying that he didnt want to be touched at all (he was ok with me hugging him before, he didnt always offer to hug me). To that i kept trying to hug him.. before he started pushing me away physically with his hands. I was in complete panick and kept trying to hug him and then he said he'll touch me sexually if i kept trying to hug him or touch me. I was in panick and didnt stop trying to hug him. And then he started touching me sexually and even put his finger inside me while i kept trying to hug him this happened for a while. Then he said he'd have sex with me without a condom if i kept touching him. i kept trying to hug him i was in complete panic. After a while, he took my undies off and said he would have sex with me. I was in such panic that i said if this would make things better lets have sex. so we had sex and i was hyperventillating feeling scared but i didnt say no. He made a move to put it in without a condom but i said please get a condom. so we started having sex. i closed my eyes and i could feel him go in and out and i started completely panicking and froze and he didnt stop. He finished and took the condom off and i was still panicking and frozen. he put my undies back on and lied next to me and hugged me. i panicked for about 30 minutes and then calmed down.
Hours later i asked him if what happened was sexual assault and he said he thought i was ok with it and that i said yes to sex and asked him to put a condom on. i told him i felt violated because i panicked and he kept going. (i panick alot and hes often numb to this).
A few more hours later he started apologising for how we had sex and that he was really angry that i kept trying to hug him when he was saying no and that he didnt know i wasnt okay with it. and that he saying he'd put it in without a condom was not okay on his part and he said it because he was really angry that i kept trying to hug him but he would never have done that.
We talked about some other stuff felt loved and i came back home but i was seriously considering breaking up with him i feel really devastated and felt like something happened that cant be turned back i really dont want to let go of this person. im trying to weigh out the balance because i crossed his boundaries so he crossed mine. but i know this isnt okay. im not sure if not wanting to be hugged translates into touching me and continuing sex when im clearly frozen and panicked. at the same time i never said no.. im really confused and devastated.

🔗APC SurgeArrest 2PH + g - Robust Surge Suppressor with Protection Indicators and Manual Disconnect

https://preview.redd.it/xa2s6t1tg44d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a803b72938d9fdf35b17120763c5fd4b5134138c
The APC SurgeArrest surge suppressor has been my trusty sidekick for months now. In all my daily interactions with appliances and electronics, it has been the unsung hero, diligently guarding them from potential power surges and spikes. The lightweight surge protectors are designed to work without fail and that's precisely what they've done. They've got these handy individual phase modules that, when needed, can be replaced without having to unplug a bunch of devices. The whole process literally takes minutes and it's a feature I've grown to appreciate greatly.
But what's really impressive is the surge counter feature. It logs the number of power surges the unit is exposed to and honestly, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. It feels like a little radar that's been tucked away somewhere, unobtrusively tracking incoming power surges like a digital sentinel.
Then there's this incredible feature, the audible failure alarm. It's almost like having your own personal security guard. If the surge protector takes a hit, it emits a loud alarm. It's a real life saver because let's face it, I've been known to forget about the surge protector and just leave it in the background. But not anymore, because this alarm literally ensures it's on the top of my mind.
It's also interesting to note the NEMA 3R / 12 enclosure. It's specifically designed to meet the requirements of both indoor and outdoor applications, which is quite handy because it means the surge protector can work in any environment without any issues.
But of course, there's the downside. The manual disconnect switch is a useful feature, but it means that sometimes, when I need to temporarily unplug something, I have to remember to manually press the switch. It's like the surge protector is asking me for permission before I can unplug it, which can be a bit of a hassle at times. There's also the alarm contacts, which, while useful for monitoring, can also be a bit overwhelming at times. It's like being constantly tied to the surge protector, even when I don't necessarily need to be.
Overall though, the APC SurgeArrest surge suppressor is a reliable device that has helped me keep my appliances and electronics safe from the potential dangers of power surges and spikes. It's not perfect, but it sure is worth having on your side in this digital age where we heavily rely on electronics.

2024.06.02 10:48 LieutenantPatang Sarkar Reimagined

I am back after a break with another reimagining, and I thought this time I would tackle another movie that fell disappointingly short of expectations... Sarkar. Sarkar released to huge expectations after the success of both Thuppakki and Kaththi, but the film failed to deliver on its promise of a Mudhalvan-like political fantasy; I have to admit though, the movie is a guilty pleasure of mine which I do often revisit. That being said:
WARNING: I am not claiming to be a better writer than any of the people involved in the film and this is not a criticism of their ability.
The movie begins with a boarding meeting at one of the companies in Canada that GL (Sundar's company) is about to acquire. The members of the board nervously waiting for the arrival of their new boss, the media is waiting outside and we get the hype up for Sundar's eventual mass intro. After a build a of tension, a Rolls Royce pulls up and the camera follows as a man wearing pair of Tom Ford shoes exits the vehicle and walks into the elevator in the building as the media tries to snap some pics of him. The members of the board continue to wait impatiently, as the elevator doors open to reveal Sundar Ramaswamy (Vijay). He basically walks in doesn't say a word and sits at the head of the table. Sundar's lawyer drops the paperwork on the table, each member of the board takes their turn signing the document. Finally the document comes back to Sundar who flicks his signature onto it and gets up to leave, but one of the board members stops him to ask, "How do you feel after ruining the livelihood of 3,000 employees?". Sundar turns around and smiles at the board before doing the signature 'Vijay gum flick' and walking away in slow motion, queue the 'CEO in the House' song as Sundar heads out to celebrate acquiring the company. The scene is to establish Sundar as a proper overconfident and cocky 'corporate monster' instead of just telling us that he is a 'corporate monster'.
From there the movie continues pretty similarly with Sundar coming back to India to cast his vote, even though he takes his job very seriously he is still a patriot at heart and has a soft corner for his people. Same as the movie, someone else casts his vote and he begins organising lawyers meetings and press conference to get his vote back. All goes pretty much the same until the point Sundar's driver tells him about the atrocities done by the government and the family that set themselves on fire, Sundar is genuinely quite unaware of all this. Similar to the movie, he directs his convoy to go to the colony where the little girl is. Unlike the movie, we have one long take where the camera follows Sundar from behind as he gets out his car and walks through the local area, through the alleys and slums, observing the common folk; this is to show how out-of-touch he really is with reality. He finally comes to the little girl's house, and the camera finally pans to reveal Sundar's somber face; this scene is crucial as this paints his actions for the rest of the movie, it is important that we spend time showing how this incident impacts him. Unable to look at the girl's burnt face Sundar turns around and walks away, he signals his PA to sort the family out with treatment for the little girl.
From here, we go to the scene with Rendu (Radha Ravi) at the hotel; this will go pretty much exactly how it did in the movie. The only difference here is, going into the hotel Sundar is slightly solemn, but his expression slowly changes with Rendu's speech and we get the scene with the 'Topu Tuckeru' BGM as Sundar smokes. The following events also unravel similar to the film with the action block and the 'Simtaangaran song'; these are commercial filler compromises that must be made, its also a staple of the ARM-Vijay combo movies. The following scene is also similar with Sundar instigating the court case to stop Masilamani's inauguration, the key difference though is that Sundar doesn't speak in the court he silently watches from the stands as his lawyer does the arguing. Once the ceremony is stopped, he gets up, does the 'Vijay gum flick' and walks away in slow motion with the 'CEO in the House' BGM; this mirrors the opening scene where Sundar finesses the board room, but this time he's finessed the government. The election is postponed by 10 days.
Meanwhile, Masilamani is furious by what Sundar started, he encourages his party members to start rioting and to find where Sundar is. The riots go on for 2 days, but there is no sign of Sundar anywhere. Masilamani grows impatient and starts seeking advice from Pappa (Varalaxmi), who says that they shouldn't have tried instigated or started beef with him in the first place, saying that she will be back in Chennai within the next day or so. While this is happening, media crews have gathered outside Masilamani's house which confuses him. Rendu goes outside and asks them why they are here, for which they respond: 'Sundar told us to meet him here'. Both Rendu and Masilamani are shocked. Suddenly a convoy of youngsters on bikes arrive with a Rolls Royce travelling at the centre of the party. Sundar gets out of the Rolls Royce and he is followed by his lawyers. Sundar asks for permission to enter, for which Masilamani obliges. The two sit down and face each other, with Masilamani asking what Sundar wants. Sundar responds with this:
  1. "I've got 750 youngsters who are ready to work for this party."
  2. "I've got 40 crores in hard cash."
  3. "I've got the tag of GL CEO."
  4. "Will you let me join your party?"
Masilamani and his partymen are shocked, he asks Sundar 'Why should I let you?". Sundar basically responds by saying:
"Your party's image is in shambles, even if you pay people to vote for you, they won't do it. You're guaranteed to lose this election and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm here to offer you the winning card, I will do everything to ensure your party retains. All I ask for is 70cr in campaigning funds and that you give me 2 MLA seats and take in the 750 youngsters that I have brought as party members. If your party loses, I will pay you twice what you paid me as a penalty but regardless of the outcome you can't raise this to the media or I will sue your ass. If you agree, sign the contract. You can let your lawyers read over it, but you have nothing to lose."
Masilamani is shocked by this offer and looks over the contract, he doesn't know how to read so he passes it to his lawyer who verifies it and says that it's legit. Rendu proposes that they wait for Pappa before signing, but Sundar says "if you don't accept this within the next 1 hour, I will take it to the opposition party". Masilamani is properly checkmated now, but what could he possible have to lose? He smiles and signs it, Sundar smiles and shakes his hand. Sundar walks out with a cigarette in-hand, the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' guitar rift rolls in the background.
INTERMISSION
Going into the second half, we have a few questions:
NOTE: I completely ignored Keerthi Suresh's character as it added nothing to my story.
With 8 days left till the election Sundar sits in his office, he calls his team and GL and tells them to run the ads of him giving the post press conference speech after getting back his vote (as he does in the movie). This creates waves in the media and makes him the poster boy for the coming election. He tells his PA not to organise any press conferences until he says so. Sundar has booked out a small venue where he will be speaking to the 750 youngsters that he has inaugurated into the party, this is where he finally reveals what happened in the last 2 days. We get a flashback and it is revealed that he ultimately did the same as what happened in the movie; to run an internet scan on all the most suitable candidates of each constituency and run interviews like a corporate company (I really like the idea of this), he positions the people he selected as independant candidates in their respective constituency. Sundar has been planning this since the scene with Rendu at the hotel; this all plays as a montage over the first half of 'Oru Viral Puratchi'. After the song we cut back to this speech with Sundar and the youth, where he basically says we are going to infiltrate this party from the inside and then he says the 'branding' dialogue from the movie (which I like the idea of, the mannerism was kinda cringe though).
Following the speech, Sundar enacts his next plan. He identifies Masilamani's candidates who are most likely to win in their respective area and launches a smear campaign through his influence over GL. This forces Masilamani to identify alternate party members to take their place, but Sundar presents Masilamani with the constituency polling data which shows that the independant candidates (that he selected based on the internet scan) are in the lead. Sundar suggests to Masilamani that they buy them out with a salary (also like corporate company), however Masilamani doesn't know that these individuals were planted by Sundar. Masilamani is beginning to get suspicious about Sundar's plan but he still hasn't fully sniffed it out yet given his lack of understanding about technology.
Pappa finally arrives in Chennai from Canada and confronts her dad about everything that has happened, she is shocked to find out that he has basically sold the party to Sundar. She is quickly able to deduce Sundar's plan based on the information given by her dad and Rendu. Pappa also reveals here that her husband was one of the board members from the start of the movie, which explains why she knows so much about Sundar.
Given that Sundar now controls most of the seats in the party, he begins his campaign from the background with candidates doing most of the work ; this plays over the second half of the 'Oru Viral Puratchi' song. As soon as this montage finishes, we find out that Masilamani has died. A confusion has now arisen as to who controls the party, with only 3 days left until the election. Pappa gives an angry press conference saying that Sundar had cheated her dad and stole the party, revealing the contract to the public. She also announces that she and her father's loyal supporters will be joining the opposition party. Based on the sympathy votes gained from her father's death the opposition offers Pappa a significant number of seats. Sundar is shocked to see what has happened, he won't be able to sue Pappa as Masilamani was the one that signed the contract (not sure about legal terms, but lets just go with it), suing her will also only get him more negative press.
Sundar gets a call from the GL board questioning him about his extensive involvement in politics given the bad press around his contract stunt. Cut to the next scene, Sundar is in a press conference and publicly announces his resignation from GL as he is about to leave the stage, he is heckled by one of the reporters on his way down. Sundar has to give up his company assets such as his PA and bodyguards, if he loses this election he still owes Masilamani's family 140crs as per the contract that he signed. For the first time in Sundar's life, overconfidence has led to his downfall. With two days left till the election and no internet influence and power, how is Sundar going to win?
The next day he posts a Facebook live and addresses his plan transparently with the party, this can be the same as the 'Idhu Namma Sarkar' scene from the movie. Sundar explains how he chose his candidates and compares it to the millions of college graduates who get a corporate job, highlighting the need for the government to be qualified. This gets some positive buzz for Sundar but not enough to win the election. As Sundar sits in his office, hopelessly, one of his candidates tells him about 'Saatai' Muthukumar (this plotline will be the same as the movie); this could be the ideal trump card to win the election. This ticks of an idea, given that all Masilamani's loyalists have moved to the opposition along with Pappa all the party assets now reside with Sundar. He hires a corporate auditing team to unpack all the party records and finds all the holes in there records this allows him to unpack the 'Saatai' Muthukumar conspiracy and he has all the evidence ready to go public... but he waits. Sundar contacts Pappa for a meeting and the two sit down, with lawyers present. Sundar reveals everything that he has found from his audit of the party and threatens to go public with it unless she voids their contract where he owes her family 140cr, he also agrees to sign an NDA. Pappa obliges and asks him to burn the evidence in front of her, which Sundar does. On the car ride home, Pappa orders for Sundar to be murdered as she doesn't trust him.
The next morning is the day of the election, similar to the actual movie Sundar begins tweeting from a fake twitter handle about the evidence pulled from the audit, leading the media on a wild easter egg hunt to put the evidence together themselves, this removes any paper trails that lead back to Sundar. Pappa and the opposition party struggle to manage the storm that has been caused by the tweeting, she knows this was done by Sundar but has no evidence to prove it; the only way for her save face is if Sundar confesses to his manipulation for which he needs to be alive, so she cancels the hit on him. It is soon revealed, similar to the movie that the fake twitter handle is associated with that of a dead man, begging the question of who is tweeting? Sundar and his team re-route the IP address of the tweets to the leader of the opposition party and spin the narrative that he did this to tarnish Masilamani's reputation as a leader, which leads to in-fighting. Pappa is furious, as although she knows the truth about Sundar's access to the evidence, she can't speak about it due to the NDA (which would open her up to being sued). With no other option, she plots to have Sundar killed, as it looks like he is going to win. We can insert an obligatory climax fight here, where Sundar overcomes the odds but realising an opportunity, he fakes his own death which increases the votes to his party, leading to a victory in the election.
The following day is the swearing-in ceremony as all the candidates take up their positions. Pappa is also present and she along with everyone else believes Sundar is dead. Just as the first candidate is swearing-in, Sundar arrives and sits right next to Pappa, there is a media frenzy happening outside. There is a small bit of dialog between the two and he explains why he did all this (i.e. reference back to the girl who was burnt outside the collecter's office, etc). He finally tells her that the contract he signed with her father was only for 8 days, so his time has expired and he is no longer part of the party. Sundar gets up and walks away in slow motion as the credit roll.
This is my reimagining of Sarkar, what are your thoughts and what would you do differently? And what movie should I do next?

2024.06.02 10:48 Strong_Schedule5466 [Partially Lost] A fanmade webcomic from DeviantArt

This might be the cringiest lost media piece rn, however I can't help but feel an odd connection to it. It's all because of how I found out about it. Basically, I had a dream where I briefly visited Sonic the Hedgehog universe, more exactly - the school attended by most of the characters. Apparently, for some reason, in this AU, characters Miles "Tails" Power and Amy Rose were dating (the detail that stuck on my mind the most because it was extremely weird and random). The next day, I find a fanmade comic dub on YouTube, dating back to 2015. The comic in question had almost the exact same premise as the dream I had, except for some plot details which made me go absolutely nuts.
The webcomic I'm searching for was drawn by a DeviantArt user hopelessromantic721. Some parts of the comic (Part 1-3) were dubbed by a YouTube user Arisu Love781 (the very same dub that introduced me to the comic). The account of hopelessromantic721 that had the entire comic on got nuked presumably by the end of 2023 based on the DeviantArt comments I could find under some posts related to the artist, which makes other parts of the comic that didn't get dubbed lost.
Based on the upload date of the Part One dub, I can assume that the first page was released on DA not later than the April of 2015. I read the comic somewhere in the middle of 2023, I vaguely remember that at this point the comic was on some sort of hiatus for 2 years (making the last page of it being released, presumably, somewhere in 2021 or late 2020). Wayback Machine only has a snippet of the artist's page dating back to the November 19, 2015 and there's not much to really look at since a lot of the images on the page are broken. Clicking on the ones that still work result in error, which is why I couldn't get the exact release date of the first page of the comic. The last page of the comic was posted on SonicTheHedgehog by u/Jax1903. One of the covers (Extra Valentine's Day) was posted on Pinterest. No links to the original posts on DeviantArt on either of those, however.
I'd say the comic's genre is romantic comedy, based on its plotline. The plot of the comic happens some time after the original Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The plot follows young Miles "Tails" Prower, a 14 y.o. student and Sonic's former sidekick and best friend. Due to the fact that he's a wonderkid, he got to the Grade 10 of the school rather early. For some reason before the comics' events Sonic the Hedgehog himself mysteriously disappears, and since he was a really popular guy in the school, this makes quite a ruckus at school. This affects Tails the most as he was really close with Sonic, so most of the attention that blue hedgehog had goes to the poor boy, especially from the girls. His classmate, 17 y.o. student Amy Rose (Sonic's former love interest) decides to help her friend out with the girls trouble, as she has quite a great knowledge of the dating sphere (it was mentioned in the comic that she had dated three guys in total including Sonic). And her way of fixing the problem is helping Tails find a girlfriend, so that other girls will let him be. To say that this goes horribly wrong is an understatement. Part 1 basically presents the entire premise of the comic and sets up the characters, I've just retold what happens in it in a nutshell. Part 2 revolves around Tails trying to get along with a nerdy girl by joining a computer club, which, spoiler alert, doesn't work. Part 3 revolves around Tails and Amy visiting Twinkle Park in their quest, but, what a surprise, it all goes horribly wrong yet again when a trio of other girls try to "pick up" Tails, conducting a similar plan. The last parts I've read had Knuckles and Rouge make an appearance and some point, but I don't remember what their exact role was. It all cuts off when Amy pays Tails a visit (that was perhaps the most awkward of the comic because it had a lot of suggestive moments that look especially strange considering the age gap of those two). And that's that. I suppose you understand why I was hesitant to ever post this on the sub. Due to the premise combined with the fact that it's from 2015 makes it a bit of a difficult read, owing to a really awkward vibes the plot (and sometimes the drawings) gives off. Yet, such an odd piece of media can't leave my mind and I can't help but think about it occasionally.
There might be a lot more lost or simply displaced content from hopelessromantic721, as they were famous for their content based on other fandoms like Undertale or Bendy and the Ink Machine. I assume that most of this stuff lies somewhere on the obscure art websites or somewhere similar. Simple Google search and Wayback Machine, obviously, barely helped in my search, so this sub is pretty much my last resort. Thanks for help in advance and sorry if this was too cringe of a read.
