2024.05.19 07:45 forestcall My company wants a server admin GUI. Webmin / Ajenti 2 / Cockpit / or?

Hi Sysadmin peoples -
I'm a coder for a nonprofit book library archive. I use Linux as my daily driver and am a tinkerer. But I would not call myself a server expert., I work exclusively in the terminal. The board of directors for the company I work for wants me to install a control panel so that when I am not around, someone can restart services and check the logs, etc. We have 1 domain and have GitHub Actions for staging / testing / production. We use a software called Roots.io Radicle + Trellis, which is a development ecosystem for WordPress + Laravel.
I use these -
  1. QUESTION: What is the most feature rich server control panel for Ubuntu 22+ that does not directly modify files on install. I am looking at several and don't mind paying for a license. I do not want something like Plesk / Cpanel as these are bloated and I [think] they modify stuff on install.
    • Webmin
    • Ajenti 2
    • Cockpit
    • Other suggestions?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!

2024.05.19 07:33 aaeroso Luma3DS v11.0 on CTRNAND, no other software installed?

I had recently moded my 3ds and showed my friend, and she wanted hers modded too. She had bought her 3ds preowned off Ebay a few years ago (she has the New 3ds xl), and at first glance it appeared unmodded (no homebrew apps or anything of the sort on her menu). However, after taking a deeper dive, it appears to have Luma3DS v11.0 installed on CTRNAND, not on any SD (there is no SD card inserted). Oddly enough, only Luma is installed; Godmode 9 or any other homebrew apps are installed. I usually use this guide https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup.html to install Luma, and Godmode 9 is usually installed with it. How should I go about modding the 3ds? Not sure if I need to update Luma, (since it’s only on v11.0) and how I would go about with installing the other necessary software. Would it be safe if I go about as if Luma wasn’t already installed on the 3ds by using an SD card, or are there some other steps I need to do? I would like to avoid any chances of bricking the 3ds, since it’s not mine and prices are crazy now. Thanks so much in advance, and I would be more than happy to provide any other info about the 3ds if it helps.

Imagine you're in the heat of the moment, aiming down the sights of your rifle, trying to take out a target from around the corner. This is where the NcSTAR Mount shines. Its 45-degree offset angle allows you to mount your lasers, flashlights, or red dot sights at just the right angle for a clear view down the barrel.
The offset canted design of the mount adds a level of versatility that's not often found in other mounts. It eliminates interference with vertical grips, hand guards, optics, and other accessories, making it perfect for a wide range of uses. Plus, the ergonomic design gives easy access to on/off switches for your accessories, which is a game-changer when you're in the thick of it.
But let's not forget the solid construction. The NcSTAR Mount is made from hard-anodized aluminum, which not only adds strength to the mount but also makes it resistant to corrosion. And the single-slotted thumb nut secures the mount to Weaver Style or Picatinny rails quickly and easily.
The NcSTAR Mount isn't just a device, it's a tool that could give you the edge you need in tense situations. It's a reliable, solid piece of equipment that's easy to use and a pleasure to work with. And the reviews from other users certainly back this up - they've praised its quality, price, and performance. So, if you're looking for a reliable, dependable, and versatile mount, the NcSTAR Mount is definitely worth considering.

I had the chance to try out the Granite Tool Design Scope Computer Mount, specifically made for Specialized SWAT Black bikes. When I first received it, I was intrigued by how lightweight this mount was, weighing just 15g. It certainly didn't slow me down during my rides.
One of the unique features of this mount is that it's easy to install at home without needing any specialist tools. Plus, it didn't interfere with the SWAT system, which is a definite plus! However, one downside I noticed was the compatibility - it's only made for Specialized bikes with the SWAT concealed transport tool kit.
Overall, the Granite Tool Design Scope Computer Mount is a good choice for those looking for a lightweight, easy-to-install mount for their computer on their Specialized bike. If you don't fit the compatibility criteria, it might not be worth it for you.

🔗Anodized Flat Dark Earth Reptilia AUS Offset Mount for Aimpoint ARCO 100-230

The Reptilia aus Offset MNT Acro FDE 100-230 is a sleek and durable scope mount that has made an impact in my daily shooting routine. This anodized finish, flat dark earth unit fits snugly on my beloved Aimpoint ARCO 100-230. The versatility it brings to the table makes my aim more precise and stable.
One of the best aspects is the offset positioning of the mount that allows for increased accuracy and ease of use. This product surely adds value to the gear arsenal of Remington 870 users, helping them make swift and precise shots.
It's not all ups though. The slightly higher price point can be a deterrent for some, but in my experience, the high quality and durability it provides justifies the investment. It's a reliable, solid piece of equipment that elevates the shooting experience in a unique way.

🔗High-Quality Finder Scope Base for Essential Series Telescopes

As a devoted stargazer, I found myself in need of an efficient and reliable finder scope to enhance my telescope experience. Upon trying out the Explore Scientific T-Shaped Finder Scope Base, which I affectionately refer to as the Essential Finder Base, I was truly impressed by its performance.
First and foremost, the base is incredibly user-friendly. The easy-to-install design allowed me to swiftly mount the finder scope to my telescope without any hassle. The sturdy construction ensures a secure connection, providing peace of mind during my celestial adventures.
One highlight that truly stands out is the compact size. With its dimensions of 50mm in length and 51mm in width, this base seamlessly fits a variety of telescope configurations. The lightweight nature, weighing just 1.29 oz, adds to its convenience.
While the base performed brilliantly in most aspects, I did notice a slight inconvenience. The screws provided were decent, but I found myself wishing for a more robust solution to prevent any potential slippage.
Overall, the Explore Scientific T-Shaped Finder Scope Base has been a valuable addition to my telescope setup, proving to be both functional and convenient. Despite the minor drawback, I wholeheartedly recommend this sturdy finder base to fellow enthusiasts seeking to enhance their stargazing experience.

🔗Explore Scientific Mini Scope Mount for Telescopes

As a stargazing enthusiast, I recently tried the Explore Scientific Finder Scope Base and was astounded by how convenient and reliable it was. It's the perfect addition to any telescope, providing a stable base for mounting the finder scope of your choice.
The highlight of this product, for me, was the ease of installation. It literally took me a few minutes to set it up, thanks to the provided mounting screws. The knurled knobs on the base really make locking the finder into place a breeze.
However, it's not all smooth sailing. One inconvenience was the lack of lock washers in the box which, although not a deal-breaker, would have been a nice addition for added security.
Overall, the Explore Scientific Finder Scope Base was a pleasant surprise in terms of functionality and ease. Despite a minor hiccup, it's a winner in my book for those who enjoy stargazing and want their equipment to be secure and robust.

🔗Reptilia Flat Dark Earth 34mm Mini 14 Scope Mount

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Reptilia Aus Mount, a 34mm scope mount with a Flat Dark Earth finish. This bad boy boasts an anodized finish that adds a touch of durability and style to your setup. The mount is designed for a bore height of 100-155, making it a versatile choice for various rifles.
Using the Reptilia Aus Mount in my daily life has been a breeze. The sleek design fits seamlessly with my Mini 14 setup, and the secure locking mechanism ensures that the scope stays firmly in place. One thing that stood out to me was the anodized finish, which not only looks great but also provides protection against the elements.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. Firstly, the installation process could have been a bit easier, especially for beginners. And secondly, the price point might be a bit steep for some users.
All in all, if you're looking for a high-quality scope mount with a stylish finish and great durability, the Reptilia Aus Mount is definitely worth considering. Just make sure you're comfortable with the installation process and are willing to invest in a top-tier product.

🔗Versatile 35mm Adjustable Scope Mount from Reptilia

I've had the pleasure of trying out the Reptilia AUS Mount for my 30mm diameter magnified optics, and I must say, it's an impressive piece of equipment. This 35mm Mount, with an anodized finish and compatibility with all of Reptilia's 30mm ROF line, has added a touch of elegance to my optical setup.
I was particularly drawn to its custom bolt mounting system, which can be tightened using either a 5/32 hex or a flat blade driver. This feature allows the AUS Mount to sit snugly on the M1913 Picatinny rail, giving it a streamlined low-profile design.
One aspect of the AUS Mount that I found truly remarkable was its machining from a single piece of billet 7075-T6 aluminum, combined with the MIL-STD Type III, Class 2, hard anodize coating. Not only does it make for a high-quality material but also adds durability to the product.
However, one thing I noticed was that the AUS Mount was slightly trickier to install and remove from the M1913 Picatinny rail than I initially expected. But overall, the Reptilia AUS Mount's adjustable features and robust construction definitely make it worth considering for anyone looking to enhance their optical setup.

🔗High-Precision Equatorial Goto Mount for Astrophotography and Celestial Observation

https://preview.redd.it/coimtcjhfb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0207555e93f0325fe1136f6d9daac24ad47303e7
I've had the pleasure of getting my hands on the Vixen Sphinx SXD2 Equatorial Goto Mount with PF-L Pole Viewfinder, and I must say I'm quite impressed. The mount offers a smooth and seamless experience thanks to its precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system. Plus, the built-in bearings and high-precision worm gears simply add to the quality of this product.
However, I did notice a couple of drawbacks. The weight of the counterweights might be a bit disappointing for some, and I'd have liked to see a full cable included instead of an auto lighter one. All in all, it's a solid choice for stargazers and astrophotographers seeking accurate and reliable tracking.

🔗Unity FDE Offset Base Fast Optic Adapter

https://preview.redd.it/qqwik11ifb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=631f1ccff586bbec34c5e4f1a809cc9dbcc62b97
After trying out Unity Tactical's FAST Offset Base FDE, I quickly found myself appreciating the versatility it offered. The offset design allowed me to keep my focus on target acquisition without obstructing my view, something I sorely needed in my day-to-day hunting.
What really stood out to me was the compatibility with UNITY's LPVO mounts. It made adjusting my scope a breeze and allowed me to fine-tune my shot more easily. However, I did notice that it required UNITY-specific optic plates, which added a layer of confusion and potential compatibility issues.
Despite its minor drawbacks, the UNITY FAST Offset Base FDE proved to be a reliable and effective accessory in my arsenal. It allowed me to focus on the task at hand, all while maintaining a comfortable grip on my weapon for faster and more accurate shots.

🔗Adjustable Star Adventurer GTI Mount Kit for Astrophotography

https://preview.redd.it/0ymoye9ifb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d52a9544e452443bfc0acbd67bd1fb19c8848677
As an astrophotography enthusiast, I had the opportunity to use the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Mount Kit in my daily life. Right out of the box, I was impressed by its sleek and sturdy construction. The built-in illuminated polar scope made aligning the mount a breeze, while the dual position counterweight allowed me to handle low latitudes with ease.
One of the standout features for me was the smartphone Wi-Fi control, which let me have full command over the device using my smartphone. However, I did encounter some minor software glitches, which required a bit of troubleshooting.
The device's versatility in tracking rates caught my attention, particularly the lunar, solar, and sidereal options. This made capturing the night sky's wonders a truly effortless experience. The 11-pound payload capacity also proved to be more than sufficient for my various equipment setups.
However, there were a few areas where the Star Adventurer GTi fell short. The mount's intermittent disconnecting, whether using Wi-Fi or USB, introduced some frustration. Additionally, the Dec tracking was far from ideal, which I had to address by tweaking polar alignment and dialing in PHD2 parameters.
Despite these minor issues, I had a mostly positive experience with the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Mount Kit. Its combination of features, ease of use, and reasonable price make it an impressive choice for those looking to dive into deep space, widefield, and nightscape astrophotography.

🔗Versatile Spotting Scope Clamp for Precision Viewing

I recently gave the Table Clamp Mount for Spotting Scope a try, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for my outdoor activities. This sturdy clamp works great with all popular spotting scopes, allowing me to set it up at the range in no time. Its heavy-duty construction and comfortable, ergonomic knob make it a breeze to tighten and loosen.
The Enduro Series Arm, featuring an aluminum construction and multiple ball joints, provides unlimited positioning possibilities. But don't worry about scratching your expensive gear – the clamp comes equipped with a rubber pad to minimize scuffing. Plus, the standard tripod connection can be used with more than just cameras, adding even more versatility to this fantastic tool. The quick-tightening ring ensures a secure hold, giving you that extra peace of mind.
In my experience, this clamp has been incredibly user-friendly and holds up well to regular use. The customer service was prompt and helpful, too, ensuring that any issues were resolved immediately. Overall, I highly recommend this Table Clamp Mount for Spotting Scope to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile mounting solution for their spotting scope or other equipment.

  2. Scope Weight: The weight of the scope can affect the performance and stability of the mount. Heavier scopes may require stronger and more robust mounts to maintain a stable setup.
  3. Shooting Style: Different shooting styles, such as benchrest or hunting, may require specific cantilever scope mounts that cater to the unique needs of each scenario. Consider your shooting preferences and the appropriate mount design.
  4. Budget: Cantilever scope mounts come in various price ranges, from affordable options to high-end, premium models. Establish a budget and look for mounts that offer the best value for your money without compromising on quality and performance.

2024.05.19 06:09 Hot_Atmosphere3452 Finally had an annoying issue

I've had an Arc A770 LE since December 2022, and counted myself lucky I didn't have any issues I couldn't overcome.
I hadn't updated in a while because there wasn't any real need to. Was on 5379.
I got Ghost of Tsushima and was thrown off by the graphical issues and artifacts. Realized I wanted to be on 5518 or 5522.
I either use Intel Software Support Assistant or download drivers manually, since Arc Control hasn't been reliable for many months now.
I am completely unable to update past 5379. I tried 5445, 5448, 5518 and 5522 after using DDU.
It extracts to 100%, opens the loading screen for Intel Arc Graphics and then instantly closes.
After DDU, I tried the 4 more recent updates, which all had this issue. Downloading 5379 again installed with no issues.
Can anyone help shed light on what causes the 4 more recent updates to fail? The only noticeable difference is that 5379 registers as 'Installer.exe' whereas more recent ones are pinged with Intel as the publisher instead.

2024.05.19 06:04 Heliumorchid Hate the iOS typing experience. Am I alone? Any solutions?

I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 15, AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch and an iPad. I actually love all of these products except for my iPhone. Specifically the typing experience. I have been using an android phone since I ditched the iPhone 5s 10 years or so ago.
The android keyboard makes so much more sense and is exceptionally functional and rich with practical features that are so handy.
The most irritating thing about the ios keyboard is how often I hear “you’ll get used to it” from others who use the iPhone. I’ve heard that from Apple tech support and other dumb Apple fan folks who got an iPhone for flaunt value.
I specifically got the iPhone because of my MacBook and Apple Watch. I just wanted to have a more seamless integration with the MacBook and watch.
But everyday I have to fight against this sh*tty keyboard as it automatically uncorrects my texts, I have to go into submenus just to add a period or @ on an email field. And I suddenly find that the return button is replaced with # at certain layers of the keyboard. And why tf can’t I have a dedicated number row and why must I sacrifice the suggestions row if I install a third party keyboard with dedicated number row?
I’ve watched the keyboard shortcut tutorials and I use the double space to add a period but, what about a comma?
I’m tired of apple fans telling me that Apple is about simplicity and that I just don’t get it. Simplicity in looks and complicated usage doesn’t particularly count as simplicity imo. I find the android keyboard a lot more intimidating to look at, at first glance but it just makes typing a lot simpler. It automatically gives me the last few items that were copied to the clipboard. And when I copy a whole lot of text it shows me the links within the text and the numbers separately in the suggestion box as I go to paste it somewhere. This way if I copy an SMS with an otp code it automatically lets me paste just the otp instead of me having to paste the whole thing and then manually delete the remaining stuff. On ios I can’t even find a “select all” option on large pieces of text. For example if I have to select this whole post as I’m typing it here I have to manually move the starting and end points of the selection to fill the entire page. What if I have a 40 page document that I must copy the text of?
And why is it impossible to get a third party app that circumvents all this nonsense? Even the google keyboard on iOS is severely restricted.
I sometimes wonder if Apple has a highly paid dedicated team specifically tasked with making the ios keyboard as sh*tty as it is. Because a trillion dollar company cannot make a software product this stupid and dysfunctional if it isn’t deliberately trying to do just that.
Please tell me I’m not alone in being this frustrated with the typing experience on the iPhone. If you believe there is nothing wrong with the ios keyboard also let me know if you’ve never used an android keyboard.
I want to know if I’m missing something or if it really is as sh*tty for everyone else and we are all pretending it’s ok.
Important questions:-
  1. Am I alone in finding the ios typing experience this frustrating?
  2. If you felt this way and did something that changes it, what did you do to improve it? (Other than getting used to it)

2024.05.19 05:26 thiago_hmx G Hub causing mouse lag with G502 Hero KDA in some games.

Since the past 3 months i have noticed some weirdness happening when i was playing Overwatch 2, my aim randomly stops responding for a brief second and suddenly all movements that i did when it freezed are put into the game, causing the aim go crazy and i cant control anymore, also, when this happen, the RGB keeps stuck in one color.
Until last week this problem was very rare, and most of the time only occurs for 1 time per day at maximum, some days doesn't happen at all, but from last week to today it became much more commom, happening many times in just one match, becoming unplayable, at first, i think maybe was my graphics driver, since i updated the driver last week, i tried to reverse the driver, unnistall the current driver with DDU, install the previous one, but the problem persists, then, i tried change some game configurations, disable Radeon Anti Lag, cap my FPS to 144, turn off HDR, change game quality to low, nothing seems to fix the issue, then i tried change the mouse USB port to a chipset powered USB, nothing, still lags, then i was fed up, i was convinced that the problem is my Windows instalation, since i use my PC to work too (i have a lot of programming softwares, VMs, a lot of software) i think: "maybe is just my Windows doing weird things due to excess of installed crap".
Then i decided to format my SSD and do a clean Windows install, and after everything installed and configured, for my surprise, the lag is back, but worse this time, it lags every 10 seconds, is completely unplayable, and after almost give up and disassemble the entire PC to diagnose every component separately, i thinked: "everything on the game keep running fine when it lags, sound, allies, enemies, the network status stays normal, so it must be something related to mouse, maybe some firmware problem", then i started digging into G Hub and the i decided to apply my profile to the mouse internal memory and turn off G hub control over the mouse, and then, EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY, no more lags, the mouse works fine for almost 2 hours without any issue, even the RGB stays perfectly fine.
So, the problem is, in fact, the DAMN G HUB, and thinking about it, it makes sense, since Microsoft announced the Dinamic Lightning Control in Windows and Logitech released the update to G HUB to support it, my peripherals starting acting weird sometimes. So, i hope this post can reach to someone at Logitech software team, so they can work in a permanent fix for this problem.
Also, if you having similar problems with your Logitech mouse, try copy your user profile to the internal memory and disable G Hub control over your peripherals. Maybe this will fix the problem for you too.
I love my G502 Hero, and have this problem with G Hub is a bummer, but since i discovered a temporary fix, i'll keeping using him until he dies and i'll be forced to buy a G502X, LOL.

2024 Amateur Radio Software Award Recipients Announced
https://preview.redd.it/yupshd8lwa1d1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cc4e13fbcee18d077206effab3d93322549486c
The Amateur Radio Software Award (ARSA) committee is pleased to announce that OpenWebRX, a project led by Jakob Ketterl DD5JFK, and OpenWebRX+, a project led by Marat Fayzullin KC1TXE, have been selected as the winners of the 5th annual Amateur Radio Software Award. The award recognizes software projects that enhance amateur radio and promote innovation, freedom, and openness in amateur radio software development.
Nominations were numerous for the 2024 award and after careful consideration the committee decided to name OpenWebRX and OpenWebRX+ as winners. These projects allow access to radio reception from around the world, whether they are ham operators, shortwave listeners or somebody curious about radio waves. The committee is impressed with the ease of installation, simplicity of use, and overall features that are provided.
The history of these projects showcase the benefit of open source software. OpenWebRX was originally created by András Retzler but due to the demands of his career he decided to discontinue its development. Jakob Ketterl took over the OpenWebRX project and continues to maintain and improve OpenWebRX. Marat Fayzullin’s OpenWebRX+ builds on top of Jakob Ketterl’s OpenWebRX adding support for additional communication modes and advanced features. Both projects are currently separate allowing implementers of hosting sites to choose between the simple core version or the enhanced version without difficulties while allowing the developers to focus on their projects goals.
Jakob Ketterl plans to use the award money to purchase new hardware for the build system of the OpenWebRX project. Recently he added a number of avionics related modes (ADS-B, VDL2, HFDL), a new decoder for DAB (European digital broadcast standard), the ability to decode RDS / RBDS, and a new experimental data interface in the form of MQTT that is intended to allow third-party processing of the information that is received via OpenWebRX. Learn more about OpenWebRX at https://ww.openwebrx.de.
Marat Fayzullin's goal for OpenWebRX+ is to support as many communication modes as possible without the need of tweaking multiple pieces of software. In his own words: “In a way, I view OpenWebRX+ as a real-life ‘tricorder’ for the radio spectrum.” Learn more about OpenWebRX+ at https://fms.komkon.org/OWRX/.
The ARSA committee is already looking forward to next year's award and welcomes input and nominations for future awards. To find out more, visit https://arsaward.com.

2024.05.19 05:11 Geminiraptor Custom PC Disconnects from WiFi at 20-30 Min Intervals and Refuses to Reconnect or Display Networks until Restart.

Hello All
I recently built my first PC ever (see below for specs) and while virtually every other aspect of it is running smoothly, there’s an unfortunate exception in the form of my wireless connection—or consistent lack thereof.
The motherboard lacks a WiFi card, and I’ve been using a usb WiFi dongle to supply the PC with wireless. It works debatably well for a grand total of 20-30 minutes before the PC disconnects and refuses to reconnect. Shortly thereafter, all available network connect options vanish entirely. As mediocre as my apartment’s WiFi is, this doesn’t happen with my laptop or my phone, nor is the latter of those devices chewing up bandwidth, as I have unlimited data and my LTE is frequently faster than the WiFi anyway.
To make sure this wasn’t merely a problem with my apartment’s WiFi, I tried connecting my PC to a hotspot from my phone, and a hotspot from my laptop. The same problem still occurs. For clarity, the WiFi is supplied by my University—I don’t have access to the modem, router, etc.
Here’s the really odd bit: I connected my old hard drive from my previous PC (in addition to the new drive) and set it to be the primary boot-up drive so I could more easily migrate old files to the new drive. Interestingly, the old drive had no issues connecting to and remaining connected to the internet, despite the driver for the WiFi usb not being installed on it. Similarly, the drivers for the motherboard and the GPU had not been installed on the old drive either.
Since the older hard drive appeared to be working better, I made it the default and subsequently installed the drivers for the motherboard, the GPU, and the WiFi stick. Unfortunately, the gods of hardware and software alike saw fit to smite me for my hubris, and now I’m having the same connectivity problems with my old hard drive.
I’d really just like access to the information superhighway that lasts longer than half an hour and doesn’t require me to restart my PC in order to reestablish that connection. What do I do?

2024.05.19 05:03 IkazuchiRaikou Top 10 LGBT-Free OS Alternatives

Top 10 LGBT-Free OS Alternatives - Article By Zenith

As we know, popular operating systems such as iOS, Android, and Windows include various LGBT content, such as pride wallpapers, same-sex, and non-binary emojis. Operating systems should aim to be neutral. Therefore, I have compiled a list of the top ten operating systems that do not include LGBT content.
1. Deepin DDE
Deepin DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment) is a user-friendly and visually appealing interface for computers. It is designed to be simple and easy to use, even for people who are not very familiar with technology. Here are some key features. Deepin DDE looks modern and stylish, with smooth animations and a clean layout. It has a dock at the bottom of the screen, similar to what you might see on a Mac, which makes it easy to access your favorite apps. The interface is straightforward and intuitive, so you can find what you need without getting confused. The start menu is well-organized, and common settings are easy to access. It comes with a set of pre-installed applications that cover basic needs like web browsing, music playing, and document editing. These apps are designed to work well together and match the overall look of the desktop. You can personalize the appearance of Deepin DDE by changing themes, wallpapers, and icon styles to suit your taste.
2. Arch Linux
Arch Linux is like a blank canvas for your computer. It's an operating system that gives you the freedom to build your digital world just the way you want it. Imagine it as a DIY project where you get to choose every little detail, from the color of the walls to the type of furniture you want. With Arch Linux, you're in control. You get to handpick every app, tool, and feature that goes into your system. Want a sleek and minimalist setup? You got it. Prefer a decked-out powerhouse with all the latest software? No problem. Whatever your style, Arch Linux lets you express yourself and tailor your computer to fit your unique needs. But here's the catch: because Arch Linux is so customizable, it's best suited for folks who don't mind getting their hands a little dirty. If you're up for a bit of tinkering and learning along the way, Arch Linux can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Plus, there's a vibrant community of fellow Archers ready to lend a hand if you ever get stuck. So if you're someone who loves to customize and personalize everything to perfection, give Arch Linux a try. It's like having your own digital playground where the possibilities are endless!
3. Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a user-friendly and free operating system that you can use on your computer or tablet. It's designed to be easy to use, similar to how smartphones work, with a simple interface that includes a dock (a bar with your favorite apps) and a status bar (which shows important information like battery life and Wi-Fi connection). Ubuntu is a great choice if you want a reliable, secure, and straightforward alternative to more familiar operating systems like Windows or macOS. Ubuntu comes with many useful apps already installed, such as a web browser, an email client, office programs (like Word and Excel), and media players for music and videos. This means you can start using it right away without needing to download a lot of extra software. Ubuntu is known for being very secure. It can breathe new life into older machines that might be too slow to run the latest versions of Windows or macOS.
4. AvdanOS
AvdanOS isn't your everyday operating system. It's a visionary concept created by YouTuber and motion designer Avdan, aiming to redefine the way we interact with our computers. It prioritizes a seamless interface that streamlines actions, making daily tasks on your computer significantly faster and more efficient. AvdanOS aspires to be more than just a pretty face. It positions itself as a complete workflow overhaul, not just a desktop environment. This means it envisions a cohesive system that integrates seamlessly with your work style, anticipating your needs and streamlining your processes. Drawing inspiration from the industry leaders, AvdanOS incorporates elements from popular operating systems like Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. This creates a familiar yet innovative experience, leveraging the strengths of existing systems while introducing a fresh perspective. AvdanOS is built with the power of open-source collaboration in mind. Its development is happening on GitHub, allowing programmers and enthusiasts to contribute to the project's evolution. This open approach fosters a community around the concept and fuels its potential growth.

2024.05.19 04:25 Amelia_emu Choosing RGB Customization Software: Armory Crate vs. Aura Sync Utility

Exploring RGB Customization Options: Armory Crate vs. Standalone Aura Sync Utility
Embarking on the journey of customizing RGB lighting for your PC can be both exciting and daunting, especially for newcomers. In this quest for the ideal software, the dilemma between Armory Crate and the standalone Aura Sync Utility surfaces.
Initially, the Windows prompt nudges towards Armory Crate, yet hesitations arise due to mixed reviews from the community. Nevertheless, the realization dawns that Aura Sync is now integrated into Armory Crate. However, an alternative route presents itself in the form of the standalone Aura Sync Utility, version 1.07.84 V2, available on Asus's website.
The question then arises: Is it preferable to opt for Armory Crate solely for Aura Sync integration, or should the standalone Aura Sync Utility suffice? Moreover, if the latter is chosen, how does one correctly install the standalone Aura Sync?
Seeking guidance and insights from the community can illuminate the path forward in navigating this crucial aspect of PC customization.

2024.05.19 03:51 Strung38416 RX 7700s issues on ASUS TUF A16 - Please help!

Hey, guys. I've looked high and low and did everything within my skill level to try and sort out these issues, but I'm beating my head against a brick wall at this point...
I bought an ASUS TUF A16 Advantage Edition Laptop (that sweet sand/tan colored one.) It came in yesterday and right away I noticed that it would not power on while plugged in (issue #1.) I shrugged it off at first and began setting everything up. When Windows was done installing and updating, I installed all my gaming programs and then added a second m.2 drive that had my games on it.
Since the laptop has an integrated GPU in the CPU (It's a Ryzen 7,) I wanted to set the RX7700s as the default card like you can with NVIDIA. I struggled to find the option to do it and most guides online are using older software or older versions that didn't look like mine (issue #2.)
I tried to also download the drivers for the RX7700s via AMD's Adrenalin software, but it said my 2023 drivers were the most up to date. I wasn't sure if that was actually true and I saw a lot of posts suggesting downloading the newest version of the software first. Which I did. Now after I start up, my GPU disappears completely and all my games run on the AGPU from the Ryzen. The RX7700s doesn't show up in Adrenalin, Armory Crate, or in Device Manager now (issue #3.)
Here's the link to the laptop and its specs:
https://shop.asus.com/us/90nr0ew1-m001n0-asus-tuf-gaming-a16-advantage-edition-2023.html
TLDR; Brand new A16 won't turn on unless plugged in, software is difficult to navigate when trying to select which GPU to use for all software, and now the GPU has vanished from sight. Any help is appreciated and I would love to try and fix these problems before either doing a factory reset, moving on to an RMA, or even a gunning for refund....

2024.05.19 03:44 TerribleComputer4 How to completely disable Anti-malware service in Tiny10?

NAT. Non-Windows host and Tiny10 guest. No SSD. Limited RAM on host. Not installing new software on it anymore. I don't see any reason to have it on.
This s****d service is always running and cannot be disabled like other services, in the Services management console. It uses > 200 MiB of RAM and is always consuming 10~40% CPU. I already turned of real time protection, but it still periodically scans the system.

2024.05.19 03:34 petrichorax Civitai, if you are not going to maintain Civitai Link, you need to stop advertising its features as a selling point for your subscription.

It's been two months and critical flaws have still not been addressed. The features advertise do not function, the link status constantly gets into a bugged state that you can't get out of (it is somehow aware that a download failed, yet still defaults to reporting a file as installed, despite not succeeding. This is very lazy and crappy software design.)
Civitai Link was the sole reason I paid for the service as it would automate some tasks for me and save a lot of time, however, these features do not work, and the main feature is extremely buggy.
While the software is open source and under the MIT license, this does not protect you from advertised claims made in regards to a subscription model. IANAL, but you have an obligation to make possible the claims in your advertising, whether it be your open source software or someone else's, and it must satisfy the language used.

Galaxy Store Discount Information:

Requirements:
  • Samsung Galaxy smartphone
  • Samsung Galaxy tablet
  • Device cannot be rooted
How to get the 10% coupon?
  • You use the Pokemon Go app downloaded from the Galaxy Store app. You buy the $5 Pokecoin package using your debit/credit card. Then, the coupon appears after you make your purchase.
  • If you pay with PayPal, you will not get the coupon because your device is rooted.
What about adding Samsung Checkout" (com.sec.android.app.billing) into Magisk Hide or DenyList?
  • I tried it and it still does not work on Samsung devices with a tripped Knox chip as the result of flashing root, custom recovery, and/or a custom rom. The Knox chip is in all flagship and most mid-range devices. When the Knox chip is intact, you can use Samsung Pay, Pass, and Wallet apps. When the Knox chip is tripped, you void your device's warranty and permanently lose access to those 3 apps. This is why Samsung asks you to use PayPal.
  • It could work on Samsung budget or low end devices without a Knox chip because I seen a few people mentioned this in the other subreddit, but they don't respond back to my chat or direct message requests.

Where is the free Community Day key?

No Root 3rd Party Modified Pokemon Go apps:
PGSharp
  • They rarely give out a free paid key to do the event. If they do, it usually results in Pgsharp server problems and can cause the Pokemon feed to stop working.
  • You get the paid key from in the pinned message section of their Telegram channel. (You get their Telegram link from going to Pgsharp's website because Reddit has banned Telegram links.)
iPogo (no root 3rd party app and rooted app),
  • They may provide a free paid key to do the event.
  • You get the paid key from the #announcement channel in their Discord group.
3rd Party Apps that required a rooted device:
PGTools' PaC (Pokemon Auto Catcher) & PaG (Pokemon Auto Grunt) bot
  • https://www.reddit.com/PoGoAndroidSpoofing/comments/16wg7wi/rooted_method_7_pgtools_pac_auto_catcher_pag_auto/
  • They have provided free premium access to PAC (auto catcher). You install the app, allow Superuser access, and select "Pokemon GO".
  • Sometimes their app will constantly crash the game. This is either a PGTools server problem or device/software compatibility problem.
  • It can work with Pgsharp but can also crash and make you restart your GPX route. They don't support Pgsharp, so it will be a hit or miss.
  • If you're concerned about the anti-cheat behavior system, I strongly recommend you increase the "delay time before catching next Pokemon (milliseconds)" to 5,000 or more. 1,000 milliseconds = 1 second. The default value catches way too fast. If you don't care, you can do whatever you want too.

Where to find weather boosted areas?
Pgsharp and iPogo may experience server problems!
A lot of non-cheaters do actually gamble and use these apps during an event to try to get the most XP, candies, Stardust, and/or eggs hatched possible during the event hours. These two apps made spoofing possible on all Android devices. Since it is very easy to setup, everyone is going to use them.
With Pgsharp, it is more common with them because they were the first to make a 3rd party modified app for Android. The free users have to wait in a line before they can join the server. Paid users can skip the line and join instantly.
  • If a lot of free users are trying to use Pgsharp, the wait time can be anywhere from a minute to a several hours. You have to try again at a different timezone. You could also buy a paid key.
  • If your load screen gets stops at 50%, you must try again later.
  • It is also possible for Pgsharp's server to crash. If this happens, no one, including paid users, can play the game. Your alternative app is to use iPogo.
With iPogo, I rarely see people complain about server downtime. They are currently beta testing their app, so it means all the features are free to use. Since they are best testing, this might not work on all Android devices. You may experience bugs and crashes. If you have a problem, you must report it to iPogo Discord group.

2024.05.19 03:05 PixelCraftGamingyt I installed 32 gb of ram 3 days ago and did a bios update yesterday but now my computer is crashing.

I'll give you the parts if you need them but other than telling you that the motherboard is Asus I don't think it's necessary. As I said I installed 32 gb of ram to replace my 16 gb of ram 3 days ago. Then I had to do a bios update to fix some hardware issues. After I did that I had some software issues so I did a windows update and that fixed those but now im having trouble with my computer crashing. My guess is that the computer is crashing because the bios settings reset and all I did to put them back to the way they were was to set the XMP to enabled. Other than that I don't know how they were. I also had to put the Q fan configuration settings under Q-fan tuning that is called CPU Fan speed low limit to ignore. Any ideas on what settings I need to tweak?

2024.05.19 03:02 pridetwo [Review] The People's Republic of Croap: Twoface Brothers Shaving Cream - Classic

Welcome, beautiful people of wicked_edge, to the inaugural installment of The People’s Republic of Croap - my latest review series wherein I evaluate, pontificate upon, and review soaps, creams, and croaps that have a connection to China. Too long has the world not seen the glory of Chinese wetshaving artisans and my review series aims to rectify that injustice. The contributions China has given to wetshaving are vast. The overwhelming majority of all badger hair used in shaving brushes is sourced from China. Nearly all synthetic fibers in synthetic hair brush knots were also pioneered and developed by Chinese cosmetic companies. Resin materials used for brush handles are primarily manufactured by Chinese industrial companies. Millions of razors are produced every year by Chinese companies for entry-level and high-end razor brands spanning from the Maggard Razor store-brand heads, all the way up to Aylsworth’s APEX AL, APEX SS, and Kopparakant razors. And yet rarely is the soapmaking prowess of China’s artisans contemplated. So now we will embark on a journey to the East, with me as your monkey king, and together we will discover the boundless wealth of high quality wetshaving software that hails from mainland Taiwan China.

Aren’t you retired from posting? Why didn’t you stay retired?

For better or for worse, on April 3rd, in the two thousand and twenty fourth year of our Lord, I hijacked a thread that should have been the opportunity for this amazing community here at wicked_edge to join creative forces with the community’s preeminent buyer of women’s panties, the man who ended the base race, the man who wanted to create a sub exclusive (which by all accounts is still happening) that would finally make barbershop scents interesting again: u/bostonphototourist. In subsequent groveling negotiations on another chat platform, I joined forces with likeminded individuals to harangue Will into conceding request that Barrister and Mann revisit the legendary scent Roam, and out of that discussion came the a seed of an idea that would become Roam 2: Yes. Really. in a vegan version of the legendary Omnibus shaving soap base. My part in these negotiations was the threat offer that I would “un-retire” from my legendary career as a shitposter community icon. Well Roam 2 is confirmed for release on June 4, and I am nothing if not a man of my word. So here we are.

Enough about you, what about the soap reviews?

Those of you familiar with my review methodology know that everything I evaluate is objective and scientifically proven. Those of you unfamiliar with my review methodology can kick rocks.
Scoring will be conducted based on my interpretation of the Four Cardinal Principles derived from the Legalist text Guanzi, attributed to the Qi philosopher Guan Zhong.

Twoface Brothers Shaving Cream - Classic

For the inaugural soap of this review series, I could choose no better subject than Classic, a shaving cream from Beijing-based Twoface Brothers. The brainchild of Master Chen, Twoface Brothers is a high-end, luxury barbershop at the absolute pinnacle of classic barbershop style. Twoface Brothers is also a line of wetshaving products, including a unique shaving cream formulation that is offered in four scents: Classic, Everest, Tobacco, and Rum. I purchased a tub of 3, to the exclusion of Tobacco due to the scent note, “cigarettes,” though I have been informed this may have been a translation confusion and that it does not smell like straight cigarettes. Twoface Brothers recently partnered with Oumo to offer their line of shave creams, aftershaves, and preshave oil to international customers outside of China. The branding is an elegant combination of East-meets-West style considerations.
Lǐ (禮) - the rites, ritual; how does this soap engage with the ritual of wetshaving? Unusual/5
The cream is truly a cream, with the consistency of whipped cream cheese. If you were to swirl your brush in this shaving cream like you would with a hard soap, you would scoop up cream as if your brush was a spoon. This disrupts the customary ritual of loading soap into your brush.
Yì (義) - righteousness; does this soap behave appropriately and without deception? 110%
This soap builds into a lather very well, able to take quite a bit of water and with appropriate thickness and stickiness that it remains solidly on your face while the brush works it into a rich, foamy lather.
Lián (廉) - integrity; is the soap upright in its behavior? 10/10
The lather retains moisture well and is incredibly slick once hydrated. The scent is of good strength, and Classic smells very good to my nose.
Chǐ (恥) - shame; how does this soap acknowledge its faults? 2/3
The tin lid, designed for impeccable aesthetics, is susceptible to denting around the rim. Unfortunately mine was dented while in transit to the United States from China.
Final Verdict: 13.1+Unusual/19
Disclosure: I buy all my soaps, either new at full price, used, or on clearance. Ain’t no soaper out there gonna send me free stuff. Get off my jock.

2024.05.19 03:01 YipeeKiYay26 Restart issue on Win10, Win11 Pro N and Win11 Pro

Hi, guys,
I don't know what else to do, just decided to post here. For the last couple of months, every time I'm playing (I only play simracing games), my PC just restarts totally randomly. No BSOD, no error show. Just black screen, restarts and turns on totally normal, like nothing happened.
It started while playing F1 23, on Win10. Thought it might be high temps, so decided to monitor them. My CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) and my GPU (RX 6700 XT) temps while gaming are around 65º to 75ºC. Put some new thermal paste, cleaned the fans, fresh OS install to Win11 Pro N, again the same issue. Totally random restarts. It does not matter which game, eventually it happens. From ACC to EA WRC, to F1 23 or LMU.
Whats even more strange is that, when I can play, the performance seems to be perfectly normal. The restarts only happen when I'm on menus, or while starting the game. On my "normal" use, like web browsing, Word/Excel, Photoshop, everything works perfectly normal. No stutters, no freezes, just a normal working PC.
Also, on C/Windows there's no minidump logs, whatsoever. I read that Windows just creates a dump file after a BSOD, so I don't know if that's why I can see anything.
Just today, installed Win11 Pro and was able to play WRC for around 25min. After that, I switched to ACC and couldn't even get to the menus. Tried 3 times. Sometimes I can play a game for 40min other times just for 10min before it restarts.
Event Viewer logs some errors around the time of the restart, but it seems I can't find the root problem. GPU, Chipset, Win Updates, peripherals (Thrustmaster) are all up to date. Also, no overclocking whatsoever.
Here's what I tried until now:
Disabling XMP
Disabling fTPM/TPM
Deleting the AMDRyzenMasterDriverV20 in Registry.
Using CCleaner to make a Registry Cleanup
Installing just the AMD driver, without Adrenaline.
Changed the USB port that connects the peripherals hub to the PC.
Uninstalled Ryzen Master.
Does anyone have an hint of an idea of what might be? Or at least a software recommendation that is able to tell me why the PC just restarts, so that I can have a starting point?
