2024.06.02 08:36 Zersty_Ho Chixia Build Showcase

Chixia Build Showcase
No buffs
I just want to show off my Chixia because I'm proud of how I've built her so far.
I made a mistake of getting Emerald of Genesis (sword) in the permanent weapon banner so I had to summon again for her gun.
Her damage is really good for a character I assume players probably don't use, knowing they have a lot of chances in getting and using 5 stars that they want and as a free beginning unit.
As a long range unit, it is helpful that I don't have to go near enemies and can damage them from afar, lessening the chances of dying which helped me defeat a lot of special discord variants (The Spearback King, Young Murmurin, Twin Heron, Sprite Heart etc.)
Her Resonance Liberation Final Shot damage ranges from 11~24k and something 30k with Verina
Resonance Skill Boom Boom ranges from 7~11k Each shot in her Resonance Skill Daka Daka State is about 200~400
Outro Skill can deal 11~16k
Im definitely looking forward to reaching Union Level 40 (currently 36) to further increase her stats and damage
That is all

Randomly spotted this early Jericho film appearance
I found some random action movie on Amazon Prime, “American Yakuza”, staring a very young looking Viggo Mortensen from 1993. Figured why not see if it sucks or not, and as I was watching this cheese fest I see that Viggo’s character’s gun of choice is a Jericho 941R! Looked it up on imdbguns and this movie isn’t even listed on the Jericho page, but 1993 was the first year Jericho’s appeared in movies.

2024.06.02 08:00 WildBlackbird [Hobby/RevShare] Programmers Wanted for Multiplayer Arena Action Game

Greetings! I'm a general modeleanimator, with experience in the industry and with developing an indie game or two myself; what I'm seeking are game programmers who are looking to sharpen their skills and/or provide to a fun multiplayer-focused experience. I currently have an IP that I wish to potentially make into a game.
This is intended to be an objective-focused game involving both melee and shooting combat, with a core focus on melee, as opposed to the common inverse. If you've ever heard of:
GunZ: The Duel
S4 League
Anarchy Reigns
Splatoon
or other such games, you've got a general idea of what we're going for here. The idea is smooth and fast combat with heavy impact. The issue is thus; while we have a programmer, they will have limited availability for some time. We need a lead programmer capable of forwards facing gameplay elements, examples of which are here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfeY6H-hSOQ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbLhOBLbwGs, and more besides. Ideally, we'll be using this prior work as a base in Unity, but we will need further work done, so experience in inventories, item/altered states, and several other aspects along with movement are necessary. Networking experience is a plus.
character models and animation, as well as environmental modeling is currently underway and are available to see on request. As this is intended to be simply a POC, the idea is to get the core combat gameplay locked down and basic multiplayer set and ready.
After the POC is done, we can discuss whether we worked well together, if the POC came out well, and if we want to continue on this path. Should we, then from there we can discuss payment plans and whatnot.
If you are interested or otherwise have any questions about the project or resources available, please, reach me either via PM here, or DM on Discord at PFlare#8230. I'd love to see your portfolio. Thank you for your time!

2024.06.02 07:47 Inevitable_Tea8538 [TOMT][VIDEO GAME] HELP ME FIND THIS GAME RPG GAME THAT WAS ON THE WII

There is a game I vividly remember playing on the wii. It was a 2d platformer rpg-style game where you have a gun and in some point in the game fight a big TV like thing with little brown lines coming out of its eyes.. There was also a professor or doctor of some sort in the beginning of the game and I think you had to find him, idk. I remember the main character having a hat of some sort. There were also little bunny people in the game too.
Also, there were bats as enemies in the game if this helps.

2024.06.02 07:22 IDontLikeYouAll The world is a small place

The world is a small place
This happened a week ago, I got on my train back from parent's place to mine, looking at roughly 500km trip. Full compartment, obviously, duh. NPCs coming and going, as they do. About halfway there on one station the whole compartment empties, then three people join me to continue the trip, a mother with ~10yr old daughter and a guy with some backpacks.
The guy sits next to me and, with the corner of my eye, I notice a tattoo on his forearm depicting a guy with a gun. Then I look again, it kinda looks familiar, the way the character sits, I lean in closer and I think I see an ape with a snake, holding a gun. The tattoo is at a weird angle and partly covered by his other arm, so I'm having a hard time seeing the whole picture. I'm pretty sure I know this face, but the gun and the snake don't add up, so I whip out my phone, pull up Fauna album cover on my screen and start comparing.
After a few minutes of eye cornering this guy's forearm I got curious enough to ask him about it. When I showed him the album cover he laughed out loudly and exclaimed "Whooooooaaaa, that's exactly it, holy shit!!! You're the only person in the universe who recognized it. I never even see people walking around with Haken Tshirts. Damn, I can't wait to tell this to my girlfriend."
We had a little moment of mutual recognition, chatted a little bit, turns out the gun was there just because the parrot was too small of a detail in this scale for the tattoo guy to draw, and the snake, uh, I don't really know why it's there.
Anyway, watch out there friends, because you never know when somebody stalks you and recognizes your weird little obscure tattoo about your favourite album.

2024.06.02 06:58 MrGingerToYou What is the usage for each War Dog?

I am still modeling my army and don’t have any experience on the table top, so would love to hear input to find out if my understanding is correct:
Executioner - long range fire support, but no one uses them because brigands are better
Huntsman - Hybrid unit, no one seems to run them, preferring Karnivores instead, but they seem pretty good to me
Karnivore - Melee unit with fast movement and reliable charges - is that good enough to use them instead of huntsman?
Stalker - Hybrid unit for home zone defense, take one if you need the character keyword for warlord
Brigand - Guns, Guns, GUNS. Take 5-6 and enjoy.

2024.06.02 06:45 Thamba24 I’m seeing a worrying pattern from RGG between Y0 and Y3

I just wrapped up Y3 a couple hours ago, and I have some mixed feelings on how they handled certain character deaths.
Back in 0, Tachibana’s death helped drive the story further as Majima had to confront Makoto which then led to the confrontation scene which ultimately led to Makoto’s ending. I’m fine with this because Tachibana’s death wasn’t just added in for shock value.
Unfortunately after that, I feel every supporting character’s death is just crammed into the story for shock value. For example, in Y1, we had the deaths of Shinji, Serena, and Kazama which I feel were completely avoidable. In Y2, we see the demise of 3 antagonists within the span of 10 minutes which I’m still trying to wrap my head around (especially the twist about Terada, which doesn’t exactly make sense but I’ll roll with it).
And lastly, I find Y3 to be the biggest offender of this. They killed off Kashiwagi and just chalked it up to the CIA being the CIA, which really pissed me off seeing all that character development go down the hole for a soulless death, Rikiya and his bruised ego (why did the devs have to leave a gun near Tamashiro) and then Mine with Andre Richardson.
The devs keep depriving players of the chance of encountering such amazingly written characters all for plot convenience which just sucks in my opinion. As I keep going through the games I’m hoping this gets better because sooner or later I fear I won’t be as emotionally invested in the story as before.

2024.06.02 06:36 spgcorno What character/build for simple elemental run & gun?

I’m getting back into BL3 after not playing it since it came out. I got all the DLC’s and am enjoying it. I’m playing Zane right now, but I’m not super into my build. In Borderlands games I really like pretty straight-forward running & gunning with elemental automatic weapons. Nothing super complex, although I loved Zero’s Kunai in BL2.
Which charactetree/build should I go with?

2024.06.02 06:19 TheRealBeauDiddlie My Mw3 zombies Loadouts.

My Mw3 zombies Loadouts.
Retribution is a reference to the walking dead saints and sinner ch 2 game due to the Gilbert chain and the chainsaw attachment. I left the decal on there for a cool UAV look.
Deaths boomstick has no reference I just thought it was a cool name. I also wanted a good weapon to have my favorite color scheme and this was it. I’m glad how it turned out.
The Mors sniper was a very fun gun to use it almost made me think of the scavenger wonder weapon from black ops zombies. That’s where the hyena name comes.
The wsp stingers are a very good choice for a dual wielding weapon combo. I enjoyed it a lot I called it my favorite pistol in zombies and named them after my favorite character from the rebooted mw series.
Even tho I haven’t used these enough and properly the TYRs had a very nice color scheme I couldn’t pass it up. I named them after 2 famous cowboy actors John Wayne and Sam Elliott.
Feel free to give these loadouts a try and feel free to recommend me some of your favorites.

2024.06.02 06:11 Cardholderdoe My middling furiosa review, tagged for spoilers.

So I dumped this deep into one of the other threads, but am curious as to see what others think of it bounced up a bit.
The TLDR is that I think this is a good movie - my ranking is probably 6.8-7. It is.... real long for reasons I can't explain though.
Full thoughts are below but tagged as spoiler. Me and said friend walked out of the theater 7 hours ago.
Our biggest complaint by a mile is just... the movie is too long for what it is. Just way too long. There are several sections that could have been cut/trimmed in the beginning and middle that are just... there and heavily extended for no reason we could see. The biggest example I can give is that I had to use the bathroom shortly after the Rictus bit where he had taken her away from the other wives just before she goes full "pretending to be a boy" and they start building the war rig. I made a point to look at my phone while I was in the bathroom cause I thought things had probably gone on for a while by that point, and I was right. We were an hour and 10 minutes into the movie and the main character wasn't even an adult yet.
That's more of an example than the whole breadth of the issue, but that is a crazy amount of time for a prequel movie. There are loads of examples that would have covered what the movie had by that time in... 15 minutes if you were being drastic and 30 if you really wanted to explore the space. 45 if you wanted to go really above and beyond.
Another example we could think of was the action sequence with the horned warrior going rogue. This action sequence is in our opinion, probably the best the movie has to offer. It's the closest to the Fury Road style of action beats, has outstanding cinematography, a great story is told visually over the entire section. It's arguably the best 10-15 mins of the movie...
And yet it required an absurd amount of set up to get there involving a lot of characters that aren't really central to the plot at all. It's main point in the movie is to show how competent Furiosa is by that point and hit on her motives of "still getting home". It also sets up Praetor Jack as a mentoquasi love interest by the end of it and shows how she "earned" her spot in the convoy crew.
But the set up to get there primarily rotates around the Horned Warrior and why he decided to go rogue on Dementus, which earned probably 10-15 minutes of runtime beforehand to get to that point for a character who ultimately should kind of barely be a footnote to the movie.
There's a similar thing that happens with most of Dementus' more prominent crew mates get establishing shots and kind of almost fleshed out backstories, only for those same crew members to have extremely segmented deaths/not really do much for the story because the script is already accounting for 2.5 hours of storytelling and having a sizable payoff just wasn't in the cards.
The other issues we had with it were... honestly what felt like plotholes at worst, or framing mistakes at best. A quick hit list-
The Place of Aboundance is shown as a very advanced society with a lot of population and a clear warning system - people can hear Furiosa's whistle and at least 10-15 are rushing into the woods at a dime, but in the end, only two people follow to engage the raiders, and only one of them continues the pursuit.
While Dementus is having Jack drug for "his crimes", there's an establishing shot of Furiosa chained to the big rig, jack is being drug in a circle by one of the motorcycles, and then there is a larger motorcycle circle circling that and heckling. Somehow despite being in the center of at least one (maybe both) rings, Furiosa rips her arm off, sabotages the monster truck, steals a bike, and gets out without anyone noticing despite her being a central part (like literally, she's in the middle) to the whole affair.
There's basically no explanation as to how Dementus was able to take the bullet farm except "the king of the bullet farm was busy talking to joe about killing Dementus". This, theoretically should easily be the most heavily armed/defended of the three major stronghold cities, even if their leader isn't there. They legit just make guns/bullets, and have a very workable defensive wall with clear protocols to opening the gates. There's also... some uh... plot armor on said gate when the war rig cant back through but the monster truck rams it down after two bangs at short distance- we can chalk that one up to suspension of disbelief, but the idea that the farm didn't already have a thousand snipers ready to handle "idiots on motorcyles" hit us as off.
There were some other minor examples, and even these may have actual explanations we missed, but they're also pretty glaring on a casual watch.
Finally... we both kind of thought the max "tie in" was fairly weird/out of place except just to show "Oh hey max was here but didn't care about any of it until years later" and also to show "yes we promise tom hardy won't be coming back".
I really don't want this to come off as us not liking it, because we both agreed it was indeed a pretty good flick. It honestly has more in common with the very first film than anything else though - being a kind of biographical retelling of one person's entire life in the wasteland rather than any one event with a heavy grindhouse revenge plot... and both of those movies kind of suffer for it.
We both loved the amount of worldbuilding - I was especially geeked to see both bullet farmand gas town in the flesh. It was amazing to get an idea of what characters inhabit those worlds, although if they were already going ham, I would have preferred to see more of bullet farm's denziens.
I especially loved the new actor for younger Immortan Joe - I thought he was played expertly and was an outstanding contrast to Dementus being an upjumped minor warlord high on himself. Trading for a new "breeder" and a doctor was particularly inspired.
And it goes without saying in this franchise that the action scenes were all great. We both especially loved the aforementioned sequence with the horned warrior's crew. Despite the faults in the early sequences, the opening sequence with Furiosa getting kidnapped and her mother coming for her was also very excellent and visceral. The showdown at the Bullet Farm was also outstanding.
While slightly overdone, we both were also obviously very much loving Hemsworth hamming it up as a strong a villain as we've seen. He did great just being as over the top as possible, and we were laughing a lot - we both agreed at least some of this could have gotten cut since it seems like his character got more play than furiosa's in some ways, but the execution was outstanding and he's a great character to add to the series.
Finally, we both thought that Dementus' end was probably as cruel and fitting for this fucked up wasteland world and got a strong heavy nod.
At the same time, it felt like a very bloated production with a lot of set ups that ultimately don't feel like they go to satisfying places. In the pantheon of the franchise I probably have it tied with the original and above Thunderdome... but well well behind Fury Road and Road Warrior. Good movie, but there are very much flaws to be found.

2024.06.02 05:55 The_Blight_Architect Empyrean Varus needs a complete rework

Empyrean Varus needs a complete rework. It needs to be scrapped and redone. Seriously. I can't express how HORRID this skin is. The physical aesthetics and personality of this skin are not Varus. I think you could even argue this skin has no personality.
At first glance the colours and shapes of this skin are horrible - simple and boring while all the other new Empyrean skins have so much detail and visually-appealing design. It looks like they polished a Legacy skin from 10 years ago.
Literally the only things I like about this skin:
If they could use the edgy, sharp elements and vibrant energy in the design of his Q and reimagine it into his entire design theme it would look AMAZING. Add some flames on his character model, on his bow when he activates his passive “Living Vengeance” on kill, on his empowered Q arrow, and maybe on his ult projectile or when the Chain of Corruption tendrils spread. Also, a pentakill animation with each enemy being consumed by a different shaped portal would be pretty wicked as I have 7 Varus pentas from the last year alone. Varus IS a pentakill champ.
Now for what I don't like:
Continuing on:
That's exactly what this skin is: a joke. This is a mockery of Varus and his fans. I almost think the dev team made it horrible on purpose. To make a statement that the skins team needs more funding. Seriously.
Varus' personality is vengeful. His passive is named "Living Vengeance" and his title is "The Arrow of Retribution." And here he is dancing with graceful amusement like a jester. Varus needs to be menacing. He is an ADC, and given his versatile kit, he can be dreadful in other lanes. He needs to be feared. What does it say about Varus as an Ascended turned Darkin, unable to control his human hosts? The idea of Varus and his hosts working together - doesn't work. This is not Aphelios and his sister, or Viego and Isolde. I'm sorry but that's the truth. I know some fans want character development for Varus, but that's not it. The 3 different colours (blue, yellow, pink) in his blight stacks/ult/empowered Q, the shadows in his laugh animation, it's just so tacky. Their personalities conflict while the colours clash and create imbalance.
I haven't even begun to speak about the other skins released alongside Varus. They look so much better. And that's an understatement. Brand and Malzahar look great. I am sitting in awe watching every single part of Nocturne's animations. There is no part where he doesn't look amazing. The colours, the shapes, the lines, the lighting, the base animation, the blur effect during the base animation... the sound of his ult animation...
Empyrean Kayle looks absolutely amazing. It's actually unfathomable that her base Empyrean skin is 1350RP. This skin looks incredible. The design of her blade, the energy flowing from her blade, the particle effects, the shapes and overall design, the colours, the colour gradients, the colour changes during animations O_O... her wings, the evolutions of her skin at level 11 and 16... Her ult looks and sounds incredible. Prestige Empyrean Kayle has a special crystallized effect in her wings. The colours are so vivid and bright, and there’s so much energy coming from her swords...
And Empyrean Varus… is a Legendary skin?

2024.06.02 05:53 Kangaturtle Is it possible to fix the Silver Rush inventory?

Playing Xbox by the way. Long story short I made my save and met the van graffs before downloading all the DLC’s, and now Gloria doesn’t sell the GRA Flamer, Smitty Special or Sprtel Wood. Her available Inventory seems like it’s stuck at what would be sold to a level 2 character. Killing her doesn’t move the items to the Gun Runners kiosk, nor does saving in front of Gloria and reloading. Will disabling the GRA Arsenal DLC and reinstalling it fix this, or will I corrupt my saves by doing this?

2024.06.02 05:20 arvarnargul Chuck 01x04 teleplay review

FAIR WARNING THIS WILL BE A WALL OF TEXT
Intro: In a series of reviews that will begin (or return) here; we are going to try and take a critical look at the Chuck series, especially the unfolding of the story as scene through the teleplay. In this case we are assuming multiple things about a potential watcher:
What is this all for: This started as a project to improve my critical reviewing skills for a hobby of movie script writing and analysis. Chuck happens to have published 3 original scripts and all the text of every episode has been published to a searchable database. This affords an opportunity to break from my movie writing woes and infinite revisions to just have fun enjoying Chuck and trying to deepen my understanding of the intersection of script writing with filmography and visual editing. Having said this, it should be known I have no affiliation to the show, no additional insider knowledge, and I do not write scripts for a living. So, consequently, feel free to ignore everything I say :). I do hope, however, we can go on this journey together and appreciate the excellence that is a love story called Chuck.
So, don't freak out, and lets get started.

Chuck 01x04 (Chuck vs the Wookiee): TEASER - We open with the gang playing "Know Ya!", which isn't actually a real board game, but based on the game Paddles. It's amazing that Morgan can't stand Ellie/Awesome being in love/winning, but marches triumphantly whenever he gets a question correct. I also like we see, in frame, Chuck watching Sarah pick off olives; he's beginning to notice things just like a real spy. The deep sadness and yet storied confliction on Chuck's face when he discovers Peaches 1 and Peaches 2 was great.
For those who don't know about dogs:
I find it very interesting how Sarah has "spidey sense" about potentially being watched. At no point previously did either Sarah nor Casey display this trait and I'm not totally sure how an open window was enough to do this; I wonder if Sarah's comfort being around Chuck's family is causing her to develop a "feeling of being watched" as she is comfortable with the Bartowski's? For those who missed it, Sarah talks about having a sister I think at the time this was just a throw-away line to protect her cover, but in season 5 Sarah does actually have a little sister if you count the little girl she rescues One last thing about Sarah here, when Bryce is being discussed, I really like how it was played where she acts quiet and shocked, but not saying anything. The facial expressions of Yvonne here are really special and you can tell Sarah lives a life of secrets. This is carried outside when Chuck asks Sarah about her relationship with Bryce. She is totally looking down and to the right, a classic indication of an emotional response searching for rationalization (ie. she is clearly lying)
As they end the game and exit to the courtyard, there teleplay of Chuck does something I've been wanting to see forever; they switch perspective to keep both characters in camera and follow them around from a 3rd perspective. We know this is supposed to indicate they are being watched, but I really enjoy getting to see them together reacting and talking instead of the constant close-ups and cuts. Normally Chuck will be shot with something between a medium close up (MCU) and Medium Shot (MS) to emphasize their characters and highlight their faces and expressions. This works really well because Chuck's cameras are typically either shoulder level or hip level based on the operators moving through their space. In many more modern TV shows, the technology of boom cranes and gyroscopic gimbals allows for content to be show from ground level to overhead giving directors the opportunity to tell their story through a variety of shifting profiles. If Chuck were shot today, we would see everything from full body shots all the way to extreme closeups without the need for continual jump-cuts and re-shoots because the technology is there. At least for this episode, it's nice to see the director explore more hip/knee level motion and more cowboy framed shots when having a distant observer perspective. https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/types-of-camera-shots-sizes-in-film/ does a fantastic breakdown of all the different shot type and camera perspectives for you want to read more!
As we transition into Sarah's hotel room, did anyone pick up on how NICE this is? She has double sinks, a king bed, a sitting mirror, free standing tub, and a great view. I doubt any agency in the "real world" would ever spring for something like this for multiple years for one of their agents, it's fancy! Enter Carina, tell me, who saw Sarah fight with a soap sock and think of iCarly and the famous "butter sock". Also during this fight, why is Sarah wearing a golden bikini? I know she is about to get into the shower, but what plausible reason is there for her to a) wear a bikini at all and b) it to be a bright golden yellow?? If you slow this fight scene way down, you will notice Yvonne's strikes actually come close to hitting Mimi as she has had a lot of training, whereas Mimi's strikes are miles from Yvonne and she just over-acts their impact. The most noticeable is the kick into her table, Sarah goes flying back, but we can tell from the angle, Carina missed her by a good 2 ft. This was just some sloppy editing and not getting the camera into position. I give it a pass because you have probably 3 camera operators wearing stabilized camera rigs trying to rotate around a room with 2 girls fighting and they just missed the angle by like 2 feet. I did really like at the end of the fight Carina had the option to go for the gun but instead went for the fish. If you didn't know they were not enemies before, this should have been a big clue! Carina calls Sarah's life in LA boring #1

ACT I

Carina aka: Maria Elena Argalberdi was born Jun 16, 1978 in Alberdi Argentina with a Buenos Aires passport. Maria Elena is actually the name of a famous song in Mexico and eventually had a movie. This Chuck learns on Flash #1 and is the precursor to meeting the general for the first time. I know I've mentioned this before, but to reiterate; the pictures in Casey's apartment are all wrong; he has photos of Chuck and Morgan that don't happen until season 5 (lost footage) he has a map of Echo Park and Malibu already on display, and he has tactical information for each member of the Buy More (which he has no reason for at this time). It is interesting they talk about an opium cartel in Afghanistan as Afghanistan is known for it's huge poppy fields for heroin drug money.
The NADAN-I-NOOR diamond:
We open back to see Carina and Sarah looking at classified files within the restaurant. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW, you do not look at classified files out in the open and especially not where there are clearly other customers around. Venturing into the BuyMore, there is a monster truck rally on the TV's showing grave digger and reaper, two famous trucks from this time period. Morgan wants to spread his wings and be the fourth wheel to the perpetual 3 wheel party and Sarah, ever the schemer, literally glows when she thinks of the plan to have Carina go on a date with Morgan. I THINK this was just to help maintain their cover, but also maybe Sarah is just needling Carina? If you look in the back of the store when Chuck is talking to Sarah and Carina, there is a really cool Nerd Herd poster that says "Bringing peace to your computer emergency". "if a yawn could yawn" is Carina calling Sarah's job boring #2. One thing I really like with the double data is the way the camera jumps between the couples: boy/girl, boy/boy, girl/girl. I think they way they try and keep private conversations via screen time is a really nice, typical, teleplay trick that really works well here. In a "real" environment, everyone could hear everything, but by splitting the camera focus or playing with perspective, the viewer clearly knows "this is a conversation between girls the boys don't hear it". We see Chuck noticing Sarah picking off olives #2 while they watch a movie about penguins: who mate for life, present their love in the form of rocks, and are pack animals. In Chuck's bedroom as he talks to Morgan, Chuck has a box of King Edward Invincible underneath bongos; for those who don't know this is a famous box for mild tobacco cigars. So I wonder what Chuck is up to in his free time :P.
On the Nerd Herd call with Carina, she opens a bottle of wine with a butter knife. This is actually a pretty famous thing that is done all over the world with everything from a key to a saber. In fact they make a specially type of knife with an extra wide blade for this it Italy. I do want to ask the question; is Carina dressed in red lingerie (Chuck's favorite color she stole from Sarah) really necessary for this scene? I know that Carina is all about improvising and she often uses her sexuality to progress her cause (Casey), but I think we could have gotten away with just the top. I can certainly see the rationalization for going this far, but I think as an artistic choice it wasn't necessary. What IS necessary however is to talk about how Chuck's world implodes when Carina tells him about Sarah and Bryce. Also the perfect act transition ending right at Chuck's jaw dropping and the work boyfriend!

ACT II

I'll say it again, the back an forth with Chuck and Sarah should have been a medium close up, shoulder level straight on shot instead of the constant cuts. Seeing their reaction in real time would have been easier and it would have allowed the Weinerlicious to be maybe 15 ft smaller to not need so many cameramen rotating. "Unless talking to your boyfriend is a matter of national security, the ketchup bottles won't refill themselves". Why yes it IS a mater of national security for Sarah to talk to Chuck... also if any one of us stood up to our boss like Sarah did, I'm pretty sure we'd be fired on the spot!
Malibu is ~2hours for Echo Park with standard LA traffic. Seriously, how do girls in high heels walk down stairs; we see Carina and Sarah walking sideways so there is enough space on each step to fit their shoes. Girls, how do you do that and not fall especially with narrow staircases and 3-6inch heels! Inside the room with the stone there is a bust of Cesare, archenemies, da vinci, and biblical David. There is also some famous paintings the best of which is Vemieer's "young girl with a pearl earring" which is rather appropriate considering it's meaning. There is also a Van Gogh of man in a wheat field and a Monet in one shot too. If ANY of these paintings were real instead of reproductions, they would be worth millions, in fact the young girl with a pearl is estimated at 40million, which is 1.5x the sell value of the Nadan-I-Noor! If we take a look at the engineering drawing of Flash #2 on the pedestal, we would see this design creates a closed circuit around the tongs the diamond rests on; which might explain it's red hue. If a person were to touch the diamond, it would close the circuit on their body allowing the 4000volts to travel through their heart. A person can die with ~20volts, though it's usually more like 50 in most occurrences. 4000volts is enough to kill a herd of elephants and completely overkill for a person. Also the amount of power that would take is more than the city of Malibu... this is to say the trap is real, the numbers are complete nonsense; thinking lightning! Nice shot by Sarah with the plate (there are some great bloopers on this too where she misses badly)! A remote controlled jet ski... i'm not even going to calculate the nonsense for this; it's just total nonsense. Almost as much nonsense as Casey using his phone to track Carina's call. That would take minutes, even with today's technology to back trace like that and way more power than just pushing a button on a razer flip-phone from the 90's!
back at the house, Chuck i playing halo with the legendary skulls as his weapon; this is nice because in the BuyMore at the end of the episode there are dudes dressed as master chief! I really like the changing perspective here with Chuck and Morgan. Chuck's reactions remain in focus while Morgan tells a story behind him, then it switches as Chuck starts to move around until bringing both into focus for the final line "we still have each other and that's really sad". The side cut to Sarah picking locks to the hotel door is classic early 2000's TV and i'm all for it, even if it is super cheezy. BTW as someone who used to lock pick in college, that's .... not how that works, but good try. We get our Flash #3 on the diamond in Morgan's back nuclear explosions. I wonder if the refractive capability of a diamond this pure is enough to focus laser to induce fission or if the value of selling the diamond is enough to buy nuclear material on the black market? Either way, we end the act with... the man with the golden gun!

ACT III

Chuck uses Sarah's plate move against Carina, nice inter-episode call back; he's clearly watching/learning, but his aim is terrible. This was actually clever as Sarah has perfect aim for she is a professional, while Chuck is still definitely a civilian and has no aptitude for fighting. I really like both these types of simple call backs but also how seemingly throw-away lines/actions help tell the broad story of the show. Chuck talking to Carina also shows Chuck has this weird, innate aptitude to get people to re-evaluate themselves and grow internally. You can watch Carina "grow in real-time. When we get to the hotel and Carina opens her trunk first there are a few glocks, a couple rugers, and a 1911; then she switches to blades and we see some folders, some strait blades, an illegal gravity blade (still illegal today), and a kbar... nice selection! Carina, always the flirt, gives Chuck some very insightful works about the nature of being a spy, but also maybe some way to get through to Sarah.
Inside the hotel we see Carina and Sarah speaking; Carina is speaking Swedish, while Sarah replies in Polish. "Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dem då?" which is Swedish for "If I throw you the keys, will you drop them?" Sarah answered in Polish: "Tylko jak rzucisz jak twoja mamusia", which means "Only if you throw it like your mommy". This is just great!
I want to talk about how fast Chuck managed to find an address for DC, print a label, open a box, put the label on, and get the diamond there all before the door gets broken. Somehow on screen time this is like 10seconds, but in real life this would have to be like 3minutes minimum? Either that door is remarkably strong or... TV magic??

ACT IV

Even with all the flirting, as we say goodbye to Carina >! for now !< she is still joking with Casey and every the professional. I like how they show when it's "game time" it's all about the job, but spys can be people too! Carina still calls Sarah's life boring #3 (the common trifecta of episode repeats).
Sarah's face when Chuck brings the pizza with no olives is the reason I think Yvonne makes the perfect Sarah. She exudes the hidden beauty needed and has the acting to so such emotion for Chuck being sweet. The whole scene with Chuck and Sarah asking questions, then Chuck backing off, then Sarah acting stoic like she WANTS to open up but doesn't know if she can really trust Chuck, is ready to move on from Bryce, and should for the nature of her job. This was probably the most well acted 20seconds of the entire episode. Finally, we hear Sarah's middle name is Lisa. Now we never officially know if Chuck hears this or not both due to camera focus and distance, it's never officially confirmed in the entire show. When the intersect is updated in season 4 we see Sarah's picture and it lists Lisa as a middle name, so we assume it's official, but it's never confirmed at any point. Finally, I really like how they end the episode with Sarah closing her eyes as the fade to black.

Few notes: There are 5 official songs in this episode:

I think this was a great episode and really showcased what they can do when additional cast members join the team and when they are not afraid to play with perspective. Mimi as Carina is a great addition to the ensemble and I wish we saw her more, but every time she drops in, it's always a wild episode and it's fantastic. Watching Chuck learn about Sarah and seeing Sarah start to open up is a good way forward and heck Casey had some of the best humor in the episode. Overall, it was fast paced, had some nice character development, as funny in the best way, and moved the main theme along, 8/10.

2024.06.02 05:12 yoooo12347 Who are your favorite detective characters in film?

My top 3 are:
  1. Detective Loki played by Jake Gyllenhaal in the movie Prisoners. I love how raw his character is. Straight to the point, no bullshit, highly competent. I love how professional he is when dealing with family of the victims; he is very graceful in how he approaches a delicate conversation and tries his best not to insult them when they are distressed, but he is also ready to put his foot down and ask tough questions or calm them down when need be. There's just something about his mannerism in general that I love. How he can laugh along when someone bullshits him and then gives a penetrating stare immediately after. I also love the eye twitch that Gyllenhaal added to the character. No classic tropes of alcoholism (he's even seen turning down a drink from his captain after a stressful moment) or having a tumultuous marriage. His only incompetence in his career so far, going into the detainment room and losing his shit causing the suspect to take a gun from one of the guards to kill himself with, is admittedly a huge mistake but I love how we see his character who was so in control just lose his shit and completely bash his desk and keyboard.
  2. Tom Nichols played by Benicio Del Toro in the film Reptile. I love his backstory, his repentance, and his willingness to stay on the path of justice to redeem himself. That when it felt like everyone in his life, including his supportive wife, felt like they could be all be dirty, he stuck to his guns and didn't let himself get tainted again. Just an incredible character arc that had me rooting for him the whole time. I love how Benicio really drives home that silent desperation the character holds. I love the little added things about his character like his arthritis and his obsession with a motion-sensor sink.
  3. I'm kind of cheating here with listing all these names but Detective Mcnulty, Bunk, Daniels, Lester from the tv show The Wire. Natural po-lice. I like them all for different reasons and also love the camaraderie between all of them.

2024.06.02 05:11 Fembas_Meu [Flash game][late 2000s to mid 2010s] ww2 fps side-view where you fire at nazi soldiers and vehicles from a rooftop across the street

Notable characters: There were no notable characters Gameplay: you are a sniper on a rooftop watching over a street in-front of a house that is being used as a base. You need to kill all the enemies that are trying to destroy your base. you unlocked a lot of guns, going from normal bolt action rifles, to smgs, to lmgs and finally a bazooka. There were is a mini boss and a boss, the mini boss was a bomber plane wich would die with two bazooka shots and the final boss was a big fucking tank with two main cannons and a stupid amount of guns. The last aspect is that you could repair the base with the in-game points and place defenders that damage the enemies, sometimes killing them. You can upgrade the defenders too.

2024.06.02 04:40 _The_CEO_ Explore Guarma without sniper as Arthur

I've played far more hours in this game than I would like to admit, however I've just found a way i wasn't aware of to explore Guarma seemingly without the sniper or any enemies. I'm playing through "A kind and Benevolent Despot" after you enter the factory, when Dutch tells you to go outside and wait for the explosion. Go out, around the back and out of the gates. Basically just bugger off before the explosion happens and you can go anywhere you like. You can't use your gun, i tried to shoot some birds and they immediately shot Javier and I failed the mission. But for some sight seeing it's a nice easy way to explore if that tickles your fancy. Also, after so many hours in game I've only just realised, does anyone find it ironic that all of the characters that end up in Guarma are the enemies in RDR? Minus the rat that is...

2024.06.02 04:17 ChaosBeing Factorio Community Map - June-July 2024

What is this?
The idea behind the monthly community map is to share a map exchange string at the beginning of every month, and get as many people as we can to start a new world with it. Then at the end of the month (or even periodically if you'd prefer!) we share screenshots and saves of our factories so that we can see how different people approach the same spawn; how they set up their base, how they deal with aliens, and how they arrange their science, power, and everything else.
I hope it can highlight how many different ways there are to do things, inspire some new designs, and maybe seeing how veteran Factorio players tackle problems will help out new players facing the exact same problems. (Of course, there's also the fact that it'll be interesting to see all of the different possible factories - the good, the bad, and the ugly.)

The Community Map
I mentioned this in the results thread, but I'm very interested to see how this style of gameplay shakes out. I'm going in blind, with nothing more than what I could gleam from the description and ~5 minutes of gameplay to ensure everything was working properly, and I can safely say I don't think I've ever seen a mod do something quite like this before.
Oh that's right, I still haven't actually mentioned what mod I'm talking about - let me show you!

I'd recommend looking at the description for Ultracube before hopping in to the game, but hey, what do I know? Maybe you'd prefer to go in blind. Either way, if you haven't gotten comfortable with how the circuit network in Factorio works by now, there's never been a better time to learn! (And it basically just boils down to connecting two things with a wire and setting a value, so don't let it intimidate you!)
Let's get this cube moving!
Exchange String Help
If anyone isn't sure how to use an exchange string, just go to new game like you're going to generate a new world, and at the bottom there's a button just above play labelled "Import map exchange string" - the icon looks like a little arrow going into a tray/bucket. Just copy the exchange string above and paste it into the box that comes up when you press that button. Press confirm, and that's it! You're good to go. Just generate the world and come back in a month to show us how your factory turned out!
If you run into any issues check to make sure that you copied the whole string, including the three greater than/lesser than signs at the beginning and end, and make sure that your Factorio is up to date with the most recent version installed. (As of the time of this post, the most recent version of Factorio is 1.1.108, but this exchange string will also work with the current stable release, 1.1.107.)
Having Issues With The Sync File?
If you're uncertain how to use the sync file I provided above, here are step by step instructions:
1) First, of course, is to download the file. Make sure you know where this file is so you can move it later. (It will be in your browser's default download folder unless you've changed it.) 2) Locate where Factorio's save folder is on your computer. If you've installed Factorio at its default location (C:\Program Files\Factorio) then there will be a shortcut to your saves folder there called "saves". Double-click it to go to the saves folder. 3) Take the file you downloaded and move it into this folder.
That should be it! Now just launch Factorio and make sure you sync your mods to this save before playing. If you'd like to play on this save specifically (for example, if this month has some per-map settings you don't feel like messing with) then you'll notice when you load the map normally your player will be named "ChaosBeing" (since I'm the one who started the save, of course). To get around this, you can host it as a local multiplayer game and then save. You should now appear as your own character when you load the map from now on!
If you have any issues, feel free to ask in the comments below, or in the monthly map's channel on the official Factorio Discord.
Want To Play With Others?
If you have an open public server, let me know in the comments below or send me a PM and I'll add your server here!
Feel Like Watching Someone Else?
If you are a streamer or let's player who will be recording yourself building a new factory on a community map, I'd be happy to add a link to your channel here!
About Mods
Since mods can affect how a world spawns and ores are distributed, as well as add or change items and functionality, it's important to make sure that we're all playing the same game by the same rules. For example, if one person's playing vanilla and someone else is playing with Bob's mods, even if they use the same seed and map settings you still couldn't very well say they were playing the same game, and the way they'd play would differ enormously.
On the other hand, Quality of Life (QoL) mods should be perfectly fine. What do I consider a QoL mod? Any mod that doesn't A) add new items, B) change terrain, or C) make significant gameplay changes, like modifying recipes or enemies. Any mod that fits this definition should allow everyone to play the same game even when some people are playing with them and some people are not.
Even Distribution is a great example of a mod that, while very useful, does not inherently change the way the game is played. Then there are also mods like RadarPlus for RSO that do add new items, but still don't meaningfully change the way the game is played.
Below I've put together a short list of examples that I think are ok to use on any map. It's made up of a handful of optional mods that might seem ambiguous in how well they fit the definition above, so they're just here to act as guidance on what should be ok. Another good resource for Quality of Life mods is available on the Factorio Discord - check out Xorimuth's pinned post.
Optional Mod Examples
Note: I can't imagine any situation where this could be an issue, but if you're the author of one of the mods listed here (and can offer me some proof of this) and for whatever reason would like me to remove your mod from this post, I'd be happy to comply.
It's entirely possible some of these mods either don't work with the current version of Factorio, conflict with each other, or in some manner just don't work. I can't test them all, let alone every configuration of them, so you might want to back up your world before adding one of these.
