Coaches Corner with WadeTheHeathen. Special Edition: Who is WadeTheHeathen?

2024.05.19 06:51 Wade_The_Heathen Coaches Corner with WadeTheHeathen. Special Edition: Who is WadeTheHeathen?

Hello and greetings once again my fellow CUEnthusiasts!
This post is going to be different from the usual ones you may be accustomed to because I feel I should have done this first lol.
To some, I just kinda popped up here and started posting these Coaches Corners without providing anything about myself or my back story. Like, who’s this guy?
I feel like a bit of a proper introduction and a brief digital card collecting history may help. Even most of the folks on discord don’t know this lol.
To keep it CUE, I will not name/mention or describe in detail other apps at all, just some general info that helps to understand my history and why I know the stuff I do and am now sharing it with all of you. To be honest, my CUE adventure started, in part, due to these apps :)
I started trading and collecting digital cards in 2016. But don’t worry, like I said I’ll be brief lol. The apps I was on were all individual but also kind of connected, and it’s wasn’t a game, just collecting and trading. I’ll give some insight to what they were like, as it’s kinda relevant but won’t be too detailed or revealing.
The majority of people traded within an individual app, accounts could span all the apps, but cards never transferred across apps. There was a method to trade between apps we called cross trading. I want to note, this was all ok and approved by the apps devs, but we did so at our own risk. Again, I won’t go into detail and this is as specific as I’ll get.
The reason I mention this is because in order to do this well, I had to know values for cards across quite a few apps and be able convert values amongst them. In order to do so effectively and accurately I studied and worked hard and learned all I could because that was the game.
I was selected for and assigned a trade evaluator role on one of their larger discord servers where players could ping us and get a quick evaluation. If needed, I was required to explain as briefly and as detailed as possible, a breakdown of a trade if needed and do so without bias. I did this until about 2021/2022. I was fairly well known and regarded as one of the better traders on each app I was on. But that comes second hand when you learn to play the collecting and trading game fairly and well. And that’s as far as I’ll go with that. Because next comes my CUE story.
It’s was actually a good friend from those previous apps that introduced me to CUE back in 2020, as my cake day indicates lol. However I was pretty casual on cue as my time was invested elsewhere for a number of reasons that I won’t get into.
I got into and went full time with CUE as my main app in around 2021/2022, and it has been my only card app since. I do want to describe my earlier, cue focused days a bit because it lends a bit to my back story and why I’ve been enjoying making these posts.
When I started, like many, I didn’t use any social platform. I had no idea as to the values other than what I knew from my past as a trader and collector. I also didn’t really play the game, so I never grasped the playability aspect of cards until later.
I managed to apply what I knew and successfully complete the app without ever knowing there was a value systems in place and readily available. I was able to figure which cards were hot, in demand and had value, what to pull (I wasn’t spending much back then, I was grinding trades), and when i found out there were hoarders (one card collectors), I had a good idea of to how to trade with them and, for the most part, any level of player. Little by little I was able to eventually piece together the basic trade economy. I can promise, like most players new to a card app, I sent some bad offers, and accepted them too. It happens lol.
All this means is, I write these posts because I’ve experienced what I’ve written about. I’ve learned the trading game, and applied and integrated what I knew successfully. And if I can help some people skip the years it took me, why not?
I’ve been a member on the CUE official discord for maybe a year, maybe a bit more lol it’s a blur. I can say though, it was just like home. Information readily available, a value system in place, trade evals, hoarders(one card collectors), the players who trade heavily. I made it a priority right then and there to learn the value system there in and out. This didn’t require me to be on discord all the time but I made it on as often as I could, and I took it all in and applied it. I knew how important this was going to be, especially when directly working out deals with people live. I had done this before, and was about to again lol.
My years on CUE have been an amazing and incredibly fun experience. And the people I’ve met along the way have become some great friends. Some of my favorite times are on discord talking digital cards and stuff. Makes the game that much more special and enjoyable.
My journey with cue is far from over, although I’m busy with life and that’s my main focus, I feel a deeper connection to that game and a bit of a different appreciation for it. Sorry, it may not make sense to you, but it does to me xD
Doing these segments have been extremely enjoyable and rewarding for me. It’s been a joy to look back and rememberelive times when I was just in my collecting infancy.
I feel like and hope what I’m writing about and passing on is both helpful and useful, as I may have said before. I’ve seen guides and strategies for playing the card game and deck building that go into great depth. I just hope I’m filling, what to me seemed like a gap. And that’s the trading and collecting aspect of the game.
I’ll be posting the next segment of Coaches Corner very shortly, so please, stay tuned :)
As always, Happy Trading and keep it Cue, see you in game!

🔗Durable DSLR Camera Case with Neoprene Exterior

https://preview.redd.it/9v8bn3yvbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b619155fa4cd2f0e9fc7779991a2b97dc3a396cc
I recently purchased the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me. I love the vibrant southwest pattern that not only looks great but also doesn't give away the fact that there's an expensive camera inside my bag. The dimensions are perfect at 7.25 inches x 6 inches x 5.5 inches, making it a great option when I'm on the go.
One of the standout features of this case is its durable neoprene exterior. It's rugged and weather-resistant, ensuring my camera stays safe and secure no matter the conditions. The cover zippers and metal hardware provide extra protection, while the reinforced belt loop offers stability and flexibility in how I carry it.
The adjustable shoulder strap and padded hand strap make it comfortable and easy to use, whether I'm carrying it on my shoulder or hand. However, I find that the bag can feel a bit weighty when I'm carrying a DSLR with a lens attached, making it better suited for shorter outings.
The USA Gear QTL Camera Case Bag has exceeded my expectations in terms of visual appeal, sturdiness, design comfort, size, and weight. The southwest pattern adds a touch of style, while the reinforced metal buckles ensure durability and longevity. The scratch-resistant interior and padded dividers provide extra protection for my camera and lenses. Overall, this case is a perfect blend of style and functionality.
While I appreciate the beautiful design and comfortable carrying options, I wish the interior had a bit more space to accommodate additional camera accessories. Additionally, the rain cover can be challenging to use at first, but once you're familiar with it, it gets easier. Despite these minor drawbacks, I believe the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest is a fantastic option for photographers looking for a stylish and durable camera case.

🔗Acuvar Padded Backpack for DSLR Cameras

https://preview.redd.it/ju2do2ewbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=767d918756f94af7758890f50394f8ac8c25ea4f
I can confidently say that the Acuvar BPACK03 Padded Backpack is my go-to camera bag. Its sleek design and sturdy construction make it a reliable companion for all my photography adventures. The inside pocket with a hook and loop system, along with the 7 customizable padding dividers, ensures that my camera equipment stays snug and secure.
I particularly love the padded shoulder straps as they provide immense comfort even when the bag is fully loaded. The side pockets are incredibly useful, with one being a net pocket and the other having a zipper. The webbed side pocket is perfect for my water bottle, while the hook and loop strap above it can easily hold a small tripod.
However, the highlight of this bag is undoubtedly its capacity. It comfortably fits all my camera gear without making the bag bulky or unwieldy. The size is just right, making it easy to carry around on long photo shoots. And did I mention how visually appealing it is? Its simple yet stylish design truly stands out.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the Acuvar BPACK03 Padded Backpack. It's well made, has ample pocket utility, and boasts excellent sturdiness. Highly recommended!

As a photographer, I've always struggled with finding the right case to protect my gear while I'm out in the field. That was until I came across the USA Gear DSLR Quick Access case. The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design, made from lightweight yet robust EVA hardshell with a padded interior.
One of the features that have been a real game-changer for me is the three carrying modes - belt loop, strap, and handle. This has greatly enhanced my shooting experience, whether I'm walking around town or out in the wilderness. The zipper and hook & loop closure provide easy access to my camera without compromising on safety. The added feature of built-in memory card pocket ensures that I never miss a shot while fumbling through different compartments.
However, one small issue is that it doesn't have a dedicated slot for attaching my camera strap, which requires a bit of improvisation. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall performance of this case has been stellar. Its versatility, durability, and ease of use make it a must-have accessory in my photography kit.

🔗MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case for Canon EOS Rebel T7 & 2000D + 18-55mm

https://preview.redd.it/bdummp3xbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25976eedde6610fe87b3b5eeb8bf13e540bb1150
As an avid photographer, I've recently been using the MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case with a Strap for my Canon EOS Rebel T7. It's not only stylish in black but it also provides excellent protection against dirt, scratches, and bumps. The two-piece design, consisting of a top and a bottom, is brilliant as it offers flexibility – you can use the bottom half independently as a half case and attach it to the built-in tripod mounting screw. This screw also allows for easy tripod usage without having to remove the case, which is a major convenience.
The top piece seamlessly completes the all-around protection, attaching with snaps. I also appreciated the bottom opening feature, which grants easy access to the battery compartment. Another highlight is the stitching that adds a touch of class reminiscent of old-world craftsmanship.
However, it's not entirely perfect. The case, while well-padded, doesn't provide much room for additional accessories beyond the camera and lens. Also, it could benefit from a rain cover for those times when you get caught in unexpected showers.
Overall, the MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case is a well-made, stylish, and functional case for my Canon EOS Rebel T7. It's worth every penny for the added protection and convenience it provides.

🔗K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack

https://preview.redd.it/87x80eexbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58c8c2f447a7b5f593c84d6e92db46b025d83088
I recently purchased the K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. As an avid traveler and photography enthusiast, I needed a reliable and secure way to transport my camera gear, and this backpack has exceeded my expectations.
The first thing that stood out to me was the two separate compartments, which allowed me to organize my belongings with ease. The upper compartment is perfect for storing personal items like my wallet, phone, and even a change of clothes, while the lower compartment is specifically designed to house my camera, lenses, and other accessories.
One of my favorite features is the quick-access side opening, which enables me to grab my camera and accessories without having to take the entire backpack off. This has been incredibly helpful when trying to capture that perfect shot in a hurry.
Another aspect that I appreciate is the theft-proof design, as the main compartment's opening is located at the back of the backpack. This provides me with peace of mind, knowing that my valuable camera equipment is securely protected.
The backpack also features a padded, upper compartment that can accommodate a 15.6-inch laptop, making it incredibly versatile for both travel and daily use. Additionally, there is a special side compartment with a strap and buckle designed to safely transport a tripod, further adding to the convenience and functionality of this backpack.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack. Its blend of practicality, organization, and security make it an indispensable addition to my photography gear, and I highly recommend it to other photographers and travelers alike.

🔗Leather Canon EOS 77D Camera Case with Battery Access

https://preview.redd.it/ryakprwxbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffb96a79537ae7359fcfc826a83fe1c3d16f546a
I've been using the MegaGear Ever Ready Leather Case and Strap with my Canon EOS Rebel T7i for a few weeks now, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The high-quality PU leather not only looks incredibly stylish but also provides top-notch protection against scratches and bumps. Plus, the internal fabric is soft and padded, protecting my camera from dust, damage, and shock.
One of my favorite features is the easy-to-clean and maintain design. It's so simple to wipe down and keep in pristine condition, even after a long day of shooting. And speaking of shooting, the Ever Ready Design allows me to install a tripod and access the battery compartment in seconds - no fumbling around with straps or belts.
The only downside I've encountered is that the case is a bit bulky, which might be slightly inconvenient for those who prefer a more minimalistic approach to camera gear. But overall, the MegaGear Ever Ready Leather Case offers excellent protection and convenience for my Canon Rebel T7i, making it a worthwhile investment.

2024.05.19 06:29 ChineseCurry I will never complain about my teammates again after watching Guxue go 30-0 solo-queue tank

Background:
Guxue currently has 3 accounts at top 1,2,3 of Asia server tank ladder. (He said he has top 4 too but he didn’t link that account to make it eligible. )
Since yesterday, Guxue created a new account and started ranking it up by solo-queue on stream. (I will link the vod in comment. )

In 2 days he went 30-0 and got to Master 3. (Afterwards his teammate Mmonk asked to duo as DPS, so it’s no longer solo-queue. )
Those 30 games were not easy. There were so many games where his teammates were massively under-performing and we audience thought the matchmaking finally got the better of Guxue. But Guxue always found a way to carry all of those games.
Guxue mainly played 4 heroes: Doom, Winston, Hog and Mauga. He did counterpick a bit, even in Plat. There were games in diamond and plat where he could not have great impact even as a world-class Doom/Monkey, and has to counter pick Mauga or hog to win.
It opens my eyes about how much carry potential a good tank has, as long as you can play different tanks for different situations.

I’m interested in video games (Fortnite, Destiny, stardew, sims). I’m currently trying to play fallout 4 but I’m procrastinating. I’m also currently watching My Hero Academia after being away from the anime space for many many years. I also really enjoy watching big brother and any cooking shows despite me not knowing how to cook very well.
I have two dogs, I’m trying to take up gardening, and I love swimming. Let me know if any of this sounds interesting to you lol. Looking forward to getting to know some new people (:

2024.05.19 06:25 log-normally Learning is painful

IMHO, regardless of what it is, learning is painful. That's how we learn things and grow.
Complex family relationships. Losing someone we love. Making mistakes. All painful. However, we learn lessons from these experiences and become better people. I personally believe that there is no learning without a certain amount of pain.
I teach a mathematical discipline, but I believe this is true for other areas as well. Learning how to write well is painful. Connecting the dots in history is painful. Understanding the complex nature of society is painful.
Some people say learning is fun, and I agree to some extent. But I'd like to make a subtle distinction. Realizing that I have learned something new is joyful. Joy comes only after learning, and the process to reach that point is still painful, at least for most people. The excitement that comes after learning feels like something I cannot pass by, so I decided to stay studying new things. Everyone doesn't have to stay that way, but everyone has to learn something.
Many students, up to college age, dislike or hate taking math courses. Math is strange. It is a very narrow chain of knowledge, so if one link is broken, the entire chain becomes easily unusable. Students spend more than a decade learning math, and if they miss one link at any point, it can mess up the entire chain. I understand why this can be frustrating. But at some point, we need to admit that becoming more capable in math requires patience and practice, rather than relying on "math is fun" iPad games. Same for writing, history, physics, biology, or anything.
I hope I am wrong, but it seems that people who are willing to learn new things despite the painstaking work it takes are slowly becoming a minority in society. Maybe it has always been a minority, but it is now more pronounced and noticeable in the age of instant gratification.
I believe that there may be many like-minded people on this subreddit, so I'd like to know how you feel and what you think.

2024.05.19 06:11 Www_anatoly A little about how often the company’s development vector changes. And what could this lead to?

1 at the very beginning, when my friend and I started the project almost 10 months ago, we conceived it as a simple game with animals and people based on the Tamogotchi principle
2 Then we studied the market and consulted with animators and designers and realized that it was very difficult, but we had already come up with a script, we just needed to change the appearance of the characters and now we met metahumans. This is our first vector change
3 after 9 months of developing a chat bot with the function of simulating friendship, we realized thanks to reddit and its community for the idea that we are just another chat bots (not enough simulation in the game). Here again is the second time we change the vector. But the goal is still the same to create a cool unusual game with friends and a simulation of real friendship.
In my opinion, at the very beginning of your journey, you rarely think about it, but I believe that this is for the better; either with the help of your changes in principles and positions you will come to the goal, or this will be another experience for you. The main conclusion is not to be afraid to change the vector of development; it often only helps you.
What do you think about this idea?

2024.05.19 05:47 ChineseCurry Guxue went 30-0 solo-queue in the past two days and it shouldn’t be legal

Guxue went 30-0 solo-queue in the past two days and it shouldn’t be legal
Background:
Guxue currently has 3 accounts at top 1,2,3 of Asia server tank ladder. (He said he has top 4 too but he didn’t link that account to make it eligible. )
Since yesterday, Guxue created a new account and started ranking it up by solo-queue on stream.

In 2 days he went 30-0 and got to Master 3. (Afterwards his teammate Mmonk asked to duo as DPS, so it’s no longer solo-queue. )
Those 30 games were not easy. There were at least 1/3 of the games where he had teammates who went negative K/D when he had like 30-2 K/D, or dps teammates who had 1/3 of his damage. But Guxue was able to carry all of those games.
Guxue mainly played 4 heroes: Doom, Winston, Hog and Mauga. He did counterpick a bit, even in Plat. It opens my eyes about how much carry potential a good tank has.
Also, he was getting ~30% rank up on each win even with the massive winning streak and crazy stats such as 28 elims per 10. How is the rank system still allowing him to bully the lower ranks and not sending him straight to GM lobbies?
I will post the vods link in comment.

2024.05.19 05:43 Rare-Ad-588 There are no good girls and goodbye to you all.

Apologies in my previous post I just had a mental breakdown due to some stressful things in my life. I've been trying my hardest to see some light but haven't seen any. Girls I've dated in my past have left me for other guys and these statistics of girls who cheat and keep back-ups are getting to me.
50 percent of reported UK women have a back -up guy she talks to on the phone whether it be an ex a co-worker. I mean I'm sorry to say to everyone but all girls are awful. I've had two girls in the pass try to flirt with other guys to judge my reaction, friendzone me. It's like they have the exact same dialogue and it's awful.
My conclusion after reading Corey 16 times, studying his videos, seeing the world and women, is that there are no good girls or loyal ones. All most women want is money, someone tall and big. I'm 5ft 6 trying to make money so there's no chances for me. I give my heart and try to respect all people and women but get shit back in return. People say things about how girls will come once you have your life in order but that's just not true and you need to have game, money.
This will be my last post ever and presence online because to be honest I've had enough with women and their bullshit. I'd rather kill myself.

2024.05.19 05:42 DataSurging Need a good option for 3-4yrs at least!

I'm in AIT in the army and want a laptop for gaming/writing for the duration of my contract, so that I can communicate and game with my siblings, and write + do study work on.
I was looking at the ROG Strix G16 (2024) but I am not sure of its quality or how it performs. I will be playing Elden Ring, FFXIV, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Helldivers 2. I will also need it to be able to write on so it'd be annoying if it loads slow.
Any thoughts on the one above or suggestions? Thanks!

2024.05.19 05:38 LeroLeroLeo Im turning 18 and have no direction in life

I turned 18 just a few minutes ago, and I'm thinking I really have no will to live
Ever since I was a child I wanted to off myself, but that was mostly because of bullying, a (very) likely anxiety disorder and thinking that it'd never get better
But even then, I had some hope that one day things would change. I wanted to be a polyglot by 18, but I never learned any languges other than the two I already knew by then. I wanted to be a great artist, but since my vision is always blurry and my hands shake so much I lost a lot of the skill I used to have. I wanted to go to college, now I'm going to a great college but fucking hate my major so much I cant even bring myself to study and even skip a bunch of my classes
Now that Im 18, the only thing I achieved is that I now have friends. I love them a lot and but it often feels so demanding that I prefer to be by myself. I dont know how to be sociable. I've never had anything romantic, or sexual, never had a first kiss. Even my friends who were in the same situation as me when I first met them, now have been on dates or are dating someone. And all of them are a little younger than me
When I was in school I could just focus on getting a C and move on. Now I try to focus on doing the bare minimum to pass my semester, but even that feels like too much. It's a lot more empty and uncertain than before. Plus, if I'm already hating my first semester, what will be of me when I get a shitty job?
I never feel like doing anything. I wish I'd just spend all day sleeping or playing games, but only to fill a void. Actually I wish I'd just be asleep all day, so I wouldnt exist. I do take antidepressants now, which help a little. Before them i'd spend all day in bed and barely eat
If i've always had OCD and have had depression since childhood, i dont think i'll ever be truly happy. These things are always in the back of my head stopping me from living my life
My life is meaningless, I'm just trying to take it until i fully lose hope and give up. Probably now that i'm an adult i'll try to make some money to buy cigarettes and drown out this sadness, even though I promised myself i'd never smoke since i know people who do and i''ve seen how destructive it is to them
I don't wanna live, i dont wanna do shit. I wish I could be happy but theres really no way i can do it. Congrats to me who's now 18, cant do anything useful, doesnt study, doest work, doesnt even help with home chores. I cant even feel like playing games, i dont want to do anything
My first step now that i'm an adult is to cry thinking about how i never wanted to be one. But now, other than knowing that adult life is shit because everyone always complains about it, my mind condemns me to always be useless and meaningless until i get hit by some car
I've taken a few different meds, vitamins, tried therapy. Only the meds helped me gain a bit of a will to live, but the side affects are always holding me back too

2024.05.19 05:23 BlackAegis CaptainSim's 777 worth it 2024?

Hi everyone!
I've been playing MSFS a lot recently via the xbox gamepass cloud gamingz and barring a few bugs here and there it has been a very decent experience from someone who previously was playing on PC on the past (I had to switch to a very inferior laptop and getting a new PC is only very long-term rn).
I've been eyeing some aircraft from the marketplace and want to know if they're worth it or not.
They are the CaptainSim 777s, specifically, the 777-200PW and the 777-300ER, as they're the ones inside what I can spend right now. Are they worth it or nah? I've heard that they're were very bad in the past.
Just to be more precise, I'm not looking for study-level aircraft, but something that has some complexity to it, but isn't super simplified either. I just want some good long-haul aircraft that I can simulate out of my region's international airport, as the only one I have rn is the 747 that has a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt, because I don't have the 787 due to only having the standard version of the game. Either 777s would allow me to have a currently operated plane in long-distance routes.
I've been enjoying the level of detail available in the default A320neo, even though I was used to the FBW A320 when I was playing on PC, if that serves as a reference for what level of detail I'm looking at.
In the future I'm hoping to buy the LVFR A330 and A340, and the PMDG 737-700 and/or -800 as well, so if anyone can offer a specific review of those aircraft as well, thanks as well.

2024.05.19 05:22 Altruistic-Bid-7840 23[F4M] USA/Anywhere Asian techie looking for mock interview partner + discord bestie

to voice call tonight, not textpals
To regularly shoot the shit and study with 🤷‍♀️ I’m pretty outgoing and chatty most of the time, but also am pretty comfortable with silence with people I click with.
I’m in tech and have had a really shit several months at work. So, emotional support + accountability partners are a plus 💀 happy to mock if you’re in the same role or just bully you into studying. If this is up I’m still looking!
I’m a southeast Asian who’s into technology/startups, weightlifting, travel (just had an LA trip and I’m looking for a reason to go to NYC again), and writing.
I just finished Baby Reindeer on Netflix and tend to watch a lot of psych thrillers/horrors like that. I just got a switch so I’m open to game suggestions lol. Some kdrama and anime (not a lot) too!
Some other hangout ideas:
I like music + enjoy dueting on piano or singing
I’m trying to learn poker and Chinese
it’d be fun to bounce ideas off of someone else who’s interested in startups
I’m open to something more flirty/nsfw but don’t like to lead with that
so ya ~ if you’re in software and have discord lmk :) include your age also and a short intro. If you've reached out before I might've just lost ur msg
(I also like sleep calls sometimes)

'89 Sunlite Hideaway Truck Camper
Hey folks,
Planning on going full time in this Sunlite Hideaway while I go to college in Maine studying climate science and sustainability. I've always been intrigued by the nomadic lifestyle so I'm pumped for this adventure! Researching solar panels now to ensure I have adequate power for gaming (mostly to stay in steady contact with friends lol) and other comforts.
Any particular reason most campers have a queen sized bed up top? Would love to swap it out with a twin sized for even more space.

2024.05.19 05:17 Messy_Heart_97 AITAH for wanting my dad to cease to exist?

I (26F) when I was 4 years old my parents legally divorced and for my whole life I lived with shared custody. Until I was 16 years old my mom was my biggest enemy because she abused me verbally and physically while my dad was my best friend, going to his house was what I expected all week long because I went on weekends, we played board games, we went to the movies or to different places, he did let me have a pet, everything was a dream until I turned 16 years old. Something curious about this time is that my dad used to talk to me about how my mom cheated on him and she told me not to believe him, but since he was the enemy I didn't listen to him.
12 years ago my mom started attending a Christian church along with my whole family and I, curious, started attending with her... that's when everything took a turn. You see, my father is an extremist Catholic and from then on he started to attack me in every way possible: against my new belief, he discovered that I had Facebook and forced me to give him my password to h*rass me and read absolutely everything; he told me that if I took the entrance exam for the university I wanted, he would find out because he hired a friend to stand near the door and take photos of me if he saw me arriving, which made me scared; when I decided that I was going to be a teacher my dad exploded in fury, although I was already a legal adult he told me that I had no right to choose my career and only my mother and he could do it, he tried to force my mother to pay me to study medicine but he didn't succeed and now I am studying education; Oh and it is worth mentioning that he generated in me an irrational phobia of buses because he told me that if I got on a bus, my parents would never see me or my body again.
My father over time has tried to manipulate me more and more and I increasingly move away, he pressures me every year to marry someone rich, to get pregnant even by accident because he doesn't want to “die without knowing his grandchildren” (my father is macho), that I stay in his house when he no longer lives alone and lives with a family that I don't like, he wants me to call his partner's children "my siblings" and treat them the same as my biological siblings, that I become Catholic again so I don't go to hell, that I convince my sister to stop therapy because her bipolar "is a lie", that I don't relate to minorities or people of other races (my father is r*cist since we are not white), that I don't relate to anyone in the LGBT community (my father is “proudly homophobic”).
My father lives by appearances, he lives in an expensive house but my grandparents pay his rent, he wears pilot suits when he used to repair airplanes and he doesn't know how to fly a plane, he tells everyone that I studied “educational administration and future founder of a school” because he is ashamed that I am a teacher, he bought very big cars when he didn't even have enough to pay for gas and finally he presumes he is a good father... when he has caused me such strong psychological abuse that I'm afraid to do things because he might find out.
4 years ago I started to progressively cut communication with him to the point that I don't talk to him and I don't go to his house anymore, only once a month and it hurts me because in this dispute my paternal grandparents and my younger sister got caught in the crossfire, but my dad is so harassing that if I call them or her just to say hello, he will find out and come here to complain because I talk to them and not to him. Sometimes I think my life will be easier and I will rest the day he dies, AITAH for wanting or thinking that?

2024.05.19 05:17 BonelessBanshee [17NB] What's it like to have a friend? Interlinked.

Hiloooo all, my name is Genesis! I'm 17 years old (18 in a month), nonbinary, autistic, and a furry. If that controversial amalgamation of social identities hasn't dissuaded you, read further, dear sojourner... My final year of highschool is coming to a close and with it a lot of change will usher in. It's a bit overwhelming to think about, but for now I'm cruising and things are placid (minus finals, which actually aren't so bad). However, I find myself somewhat lonely - and would love to pick up a few friends to go into this new era of my life with.
Anyhow, more in terms of my interests, I love a lot of intellectual things. I'm very drawn into political theory right now, philosophy and psychology are also things I eventually want to get a better grasp on. I've been reading a lot of classic Marxist canon lately, I got into Capital but have been taking a break to focus on ending my school year. The intellectual scene however is very much bogged down by holier-than-thou individuals who do a lot of arguing, polarizing, and little action or community work - as they like to think they're above the world. As a member of the world this irks me. So, inevitably, I want to use whatever I learn to engage with my community and promote meaningful political action - though for now my study hasn't amounted to much materially.
As for hobbies that allow me to step away from the chaos of the world and relax, I love a lot of things; from videogames, to television, to Dungeons & Dragons. I typically love RPGs when it comes to gaming, for now I'm balancing my time between Animal Well, NieR: Automata, and Stardew Valley. In terms of television, I'm big into sci-fi right now (Bonus points if you're a Trekkie. Need someone to get me into that!), in particular Battlestar Galactica has kept me hanging on every episode. And though D&D is the TTRPG im into - this summer I want to try and explore the tabletop scene more extensively, maybe Pathfinder or even Warhammer 40k.
If you feel we could bond, don't hesitate to drop a DM! Feel free to even stalk my profile a lil' if you want to uncover more deadly secrets about me. But plsplspls give me something more than "hi" or "hru," or I may ignore you

2024.05.19 05:17 plumb_tuckered Is GTO only for heads up?

I’m not a poker player, but a curious outsider. I’ve heard that top poker players study GTO solvers to get as close as they can toward optimal (unexploitable) play. But then I’ve also heard that many solvers only do heads up poker, or that even if a solver handles multiplayer poker that there are too many situations to make study feasible.
Does the existence of GTO solvers mostly affect heads up play?
If so, that seems like such a small portion of the game for how much GTO gets discussed. Or is that even at a multiplayer table, many hands end up with two players and so you can use your GTO knowledge in those settings?
Thanks for any education y'all can offer.

2024.05.19 05:13 CuriousStranger03 AITA for refusing a request from my dad while still living at his house?

This conflict between my dad and I (21M) has been going on for around 7 years. I will try to keep this from getting too long while still keeping it as unbiased as I can.
Me and my dad have never really gotten along, he wasn't abusive or anything but he used to have unpredictable mood swings and when he got angry at someone he would scream at everyone and I usually ended up grounded, so I did my best to avoid him (mostly by just trying to stay out of his sight as much as possible). After a bit he noticed and he told me that he wanted me to talk more. I didn't take his request seriously which led to him grounding me in my room.
A few weeks after he initially grounded me, my dad tries to talk it out. He pulls the whole family to the living room and asks me what my problem was. I told him I didn't know (out of cowardice), and after that my dad started claiming I had him in a cold war. He then tried having my mom ask me the same question and I gave the same answer (this time I was just trying to get out of it) which led to him now claiming I had both him and my mom in a cold war. To be fair I did admit to keeping information from him once. To make matters worse, a while later (not sure how long) my dad pulls me and my brothers to a room to talk about a unrelated situation. He was trying to make a example using pillows and asked me to say a female name for one of the pillows and I said no. The reason I said no was because I though I was gonna get teased if I did but I didn't tell this to my dad. Since I just said no without explaining, my dad took it as a act of rebellion and assumed the reason I wasn't talking more like he asked was also because of rebellion.
After these incidents my dad tried talking it out countless time but I always game him the same answer ("I don't know"). Honestly the reason I never tried to talk things out was a mix of pride, resentment and lack of bravery. Eventually (maybe a couple years or so later) I did start giving answers, but by then he didn't believe a word I said and would either cut me off while talking or simply ignore anything I said. At this point we both have lost interest in talking it out and mostly avoid each other. Me being grounded in the room has also become permanent and he says he wont let me out until I do as he says. He also says that since I can't solve what he claims is a simple issue with a quick fix, he can't trust me with a car (which means he hasn't let me get a driver license) nor can he trust me with a job (which means he is only letting me study what my brothers study and says he wont let me work unless I work at the same place as them) and he only lets me help around the house with menial tasks. To be fair I have always been slow compared to my brothers, so much so that most people that know me think there is a problem with me (although this has never been checked)
Please don't hold back. Who is wrong here?
