Holiday Builders are the worst builders in the country.

2024.05.19 01:38 Limitless-21 Holiday Builders are the worst builders in the country.

Imagine being told the house would take 10-13 months to build. And then imagine being assigned a crappy construction manager named Kevin Thornton and waiting 18+ months for the completion of your home, who seemed to only been hired because his brother Chris Thornton was already a construction manager for the company.
Being told 4 false closing dates. Having to lose a good interest rate because they don’t know how to build a house within a reasonable time. I’ve seen whole apartment complexes built in the time we’ve been waiting.
Having to reach out to said construction manager and the sale consultant Zac Davidson every single month to get an update when you were told you would get an update roughly every two weeks. Being lied to every single month. Trish is also a dishonest unprofessional woman who constantly dodges phone calls and lies about everything.
Finding a crappy job being done in the primary bathroom shower and them having to rip it out and start over again, because part of the shower wall was bowing out into a triangle shape and the small square tiles were not flat and straight with tons of extra grout around them. Having a crappy grading job where 1/3 of the back yard is unusable. And nothing can be done about it, Holiday Builders just loves cheap labor.
Going through a full roll of blue painters tape to point out all the flaws in the construction, where the manager will run out of tape, but luckily we brought some to continue using half the roll. And they still didn’t fix everything the first go around, where we had to call them back multiple times to fix the issues described at the first walkthrough, after closing. You’ll find paint on every single door handle in the house. And paint splatter all over your floors. Different caulking colors used on the countertops right next to each other. You’ll ask them to paint the water access water into the home because it looked like crap the first time and then they’ll make it worse and also paint the grass and gutter runoff as well because they simple don’t give a hoot about anything.
They even had to rip up two parts of the yard to have water and septic lines in place inspected because they forgot and now we’re stuck with even more shitty grading and yard work because of that.
They’ll schedule exterior stuff after laying sod down that end up leaving the yard dug up and not manicured and looking like trash. And then you’ll wait weeks for them to come fix it.
They give you a smart door lock that’s supposed to come with the Rekeying tool, but they won’t give it to you for unspecified reasons, even though you paid for it. You’ll ask if the front door lock is a smart/Wi-Fi compatible one. They’ll say no, but after reading the manual you’ll find out it is. They don’t even know how the products they’re installing works!
Being told a shower door for the primary bathroom isn’t even included after finding out 1 week before closing, seems like their architects failed physics, because water still gets out the shower with a door there if it’s it recessed. Finding out that something as inexpensive as cabinet handles are not included and finding out after the first walkthrough that they’re an “expensive upgrade”, when it was never mentioned during the upgrades selection. Why would I upgrade to 42” upper cabinets and soft close but not op for handles, does that make sense to you. Paying nearly 400k for a house and they can’t even do these simple thing’s correctly or offer these simple things as standard. What if someone had a disability and opening cabinets without handles is extremely difficult for them. Holiday Builders doesn’t give a single hoot about you if that’s the case.
When blinds and a refrigerator and a washer and dryer and a garage door openers are already not included. I would expect the said things above be STANDARD! And a sales consultant that only cares about his paycheck and his ego, than the customer named Zac Davidson, who won’t let you know certain basic things are an upgrade. Zac Davidson is a man that gets his feelings hurt when he gets caught in a lie and starts to be disrespectful when he doesn’t agree with something you’re trying to explain to him.
Holiday builders doesn’t care about the customer. They only care about their wallets. They’ll rush to get the CO before having everything installed. In hopes of you signing before notice they put a hole in your drywall while installing your shelves. Or better yet the construction manager won’t even walkthrough the house prior to have any touch ups or fixes done before the first walk through. We found out our water heater wasn’t even hooked up correctly after closing. Holiday Builders are real comedians.
The trades that they hire can’t even get simple things done like paint and caulking and not painting the floor and door handles, we basically covered the whole house in blue tape and only 50% of it was taken care it. 50% of the trims around the door frames were missing paint and the other 50% looked like a blind man painted the door frames, thick goops of paint and splatter everywhere. They’ll even make sure the caulking where the base boards meet the dry wall has spider web cracking in every single ROOM. Every single one of these trades and construction managers need glasses because I do not honestly understand how you can be proud of your work and let customers find this type of garbage work.
We were so fed up with this process we ended up just fixing all of the issues ourselves. Don’t build with them unless you’re okay with paying for upgrades on basic things that should be standard and you’ll have to ask the construction managers like they’re a 4th grader if they completed their homework. And having to do all the basic touch ups yourselves. It’s extremely frustrating and sad that I can’t be excited about being my first home because of this shitty fucking experience. Also any response to this review will be taken as passive aggressive, if you state that this was taken care of because it wasn’t, everything still looks like shit.
The plumbers and septic company they use suck too. We’re still dealing with sewage smells in our home that they can’t figure out. Constant back ups due to poor plumbing ventilation and workmanship. The plumbers came to investigate and didn’t even have any of the right tools or equipment to do anything and had to borrow my equipment. If you’re wondering which clowns they use. Naber Plumbing and Brain David Septic.
They even under size the AC unit tonnage for the home. Your AC will run for 18 hours a day. I found that they didn’t even seal the area for where the cold air comes out the air handler. It was just blowing all the cold air into the AC room and into the attic. Mechanical One don’t know what they’re doing and Holiday Builder takes shortcuts everywhere they can with undersizing your AC unit and going with the cheapest labor.
Every single builder in the area builds homes faster than these clowns.
Holiday Builders suck. Ever heard the saying lazy people work twice. Everything about their workmanship is trash. The construction managers do not inspect work done by the trades after it is completed. Their scheduling sucks too. They lie about everything, every step of the way. Don’t build with them. We’re still finding issues every single damn day with this house. Don’t make the mistake of building with Holiday Builders. Build with Maronda or anyone else other than this clowns. Zac Davison sucks. Trish sucks. Chris Thornton sucks and his brother Kevin Thornton sucks even more, Steve Pettko sucks. Chris Cubillos Suck.

Saturday and Sunday vs the Rockies -- a look at the Rox Pitchers
Let's have a look at the pitchers standing on our mound this weekend that play for the super weird Colorado Rockies. Those crazy purple pinstripe wearing stoners went 4 - 18 April 13 thru May 8. And then go 7 straight wins?! Umm...
Well on Friday we zapped young righty Ryan Feltner. Good.
Saturday it's old friend southpaw Ty Blach. He's pitching well, is 1-1. He holds teams to 3 Runs a game. Righty hitters beguile Ty at .364, whoa. Lefties succumb to his charms and feeble it at .130. That's a huge Split. Ty is much better on the Road. Further, on Baseballsavant, his pitching value is average. His Pitching Metrics are warm +. So, he's got stuff, and he's looking to pitch well in Pac Bell (I refuse the official name)
On Sunday it's the mercurial Dakota Hudson. This righthander is supposed to be a project for the Rockies, but it aint happening. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 36th Round out of High School in 2013, and he said "nope". Went to the great Mississippi State program, where he dominated and was taken by the St. Louis Cardinals with their 1st pick in 2016. After drinking beer and throwing bullets in the Minors, the Cardinals let him walk last year, and the Rockies asked him if he wanted to pitch in their crazy park, and he agreed.
So then..Dakota took the ball for the Rockies as a Rookie, and lovingly gift-wrapped them 6 Losses and 1 Win. He affords his opponents 6+ Runs a game. Righties hit him better than lefties, so he's a lil goofy. He gets torched at home, but on the road teams are hitting only .200 against him. Baseballsavant grades him-out as ICE COLD in Pitching Value and Pitching Metrics. He's definitely a roll of the dice for them. What do you think about that? 3 Wins if we can play great defense behind good pitching, because I think we're going to hit this staff. Are you excited for some Home Cookin'?

What's the Deal with over-valued ETV's lately?

Here's about the 5th example I've seen this week of things that are not only priced too high to begin with (I just recently bought a nicer squeegee set with an all metal handle and extra parts for $13), but also of inflated ETV over the selling price. I'm seeing a lot more of this lately, and I'm wondering why. What do they gain from the ETV inflation? (Or from pricing things double what you can get them for from other Amazon sellers, for that matter. Don't they check comparable items?)

This story is one of the creepiest true stories I've ever heard, it's a story that makes you wonder about what people's true intentions really are. Most of us have at least one person in our lives that we feel we can trust with anything and everything, but no matter how much you trust somebody, you never really know what's actually going on inside their head, do the words they tell you really match the thoughts that they're having behind them. No matter how much you trust somebody, you never really know what they might be thinking, or what they might be doing in their spare time.
Our story today starts off in December of 1986, in a small town in Massachusetts.
Frank Bowen lived together with his two young daughters, Tina(15), and Karen(9).
Recently they had just lost their mother to cancer, and it was a very hard time for everybody.
To make matters worse the household was now only under one income, so Frank started to work more and more hours just to make sure they could still get by.
Because of this, he began leaving the girls home alone more often than usual.
One evening, while Frank was working, Tina and Karen would be at home continuing to find ways to cope with the loss of their mother.
That night they attempted to find further closure, their way of doing this was by bringing out a Ouija Board and conducting a seance, hoping that in doing so they would be able to speak with their mother one last time.
They tried for many hours, but sadly nothing was happening, the idea seemed like it was turning into a dead end.
Eventually, feeling tired, emotionally drained, and hopeless, they decided to give up and head to their bedrooms to get some rest.
Some hours would pass until the 2 girls would be woken up by a startling sound.
They sat upright, listening closely... It sounded like a quiet tapping sound, but where was it coming from?
Staying quiet and listening even closer, they waited, trying to figure out what was happening.
They couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was coming from, but it sounded like it was coming from inside the walls... and as they listened the knocking would only grow louder.
Both of them came to the realization that the seance must have actually worked, they thought to themselves their mother must have actually heard them.
When their father Frank would later come home they would tell him all about the experience.
He didn't believe them and brushed it off entirely, the intense stress from their loss must have been taking it's toll, playing mean tricks on their imaginations in an attempt to find peace.
Concerned he told his daughters that if this were to continue, he would be taking them all for counselling.
He wished for his daughter's peace of mind, it was all too much, and he wished for their family's troubles just to discontinue... Unfortunately, continue it did.
Night after night, again and again the girls would be awoken by the same unnerving knocking sounds that they heard before. Each time they would scream for their father, but every single time he would arrive the sounds would come to a halt. He opened the door, he listened... Silence was all that he could hear. His concern for them would only increase.
Over the next few weeks, things would only seem to escalate as the events they experienced became stranger and stranger. The knocking became more consistent, it was to the point that it was ruining the girls sleep, it was driving them insane... Though, that wasn't the only thing that was happening.
Their possessions began to... disappear... somehow... misplace themselves.
Items that they were certain were in different places the day prior, would be found thrown across the floor or moved to a different location. They would come home to find furniture moved to the other side of the room, seemingly all on it's own.
They were all experiencing the same thing together, but their father Frank wasn't buying it.
His daughters insisted that they had nothing to do with it and that it must be a ghost, but he couldn't get himself to believe such a ridiculous idea.
He truly believed his daughters were under such emotional distress, that they must be the culprits for all of this.
The knocking would continue into the new year, but on one January evening, something was different.
It didn't sound like the knocking was coming from the walls this time... it sounded like it was coming from the basement.
Terrified but curious, they grabbed a kitchen knife and shakily made their way down to the depths of their home. When they got to the bottom, the noise had ceased. They froze as they saw something that they knew wasn't supposed to be there.
On the basement wall, written in dark red, was a message they wished they never saw: "I'm in your room. Come and find me".
Horrified they ran out of the house as quickly as possible, making their way to their neighbors to tell them what happened.
When their father arrived they explained to him what happened, but again he just thought that they were doing this as a failed way of coping, the stress manipulating their minds into doing crazy things.
Following this he would send them for counselling, but things only continue to get worse.
Many weeks later the girls would hear even more knocking... this time the sound emanating from behind Tina's bedroom wall. Upon entering Tina's room they were met with another horribly red message sprawled across the walls: "I'm back. Find me if you can".
Fearful for their lives they went over to a neighbor's house once more, calling their father to come home.
When he got home this time he was furious, still blaming his daughters for all of this he stormed inside to prove that there was nobody there.
When he got inside, more had happened inside the house than the girls had originally explained.
He started to understand that something else was going on, somebody else must have been in here.
Frank entered Tina's room by himself, and when he did there was an extra message painted across the walls: "Marry me".
He stared at the wall in disbelief as his mind raced, trying to piece together what was happening.
That's when he noticed something... On the other side of the room, a figure stood dressed in the clothing of his now deceased wife. Blonde hair hung down across the figure's shoulders, draping down to the hatchet that was held in it's hand.
Although that part of the story doesn't end there, we're going to need to go back to a time before the knocking began, the family would receive a phone call from a boy named Danny.
Danny would say that he got their number from a friend that went to the same school as them.
The picture Danny would paint of himself was that of a blonde, attractive, fit, and smart boy that lived in the area. It was innocent enough and no alarm bells were raised, after a few phone calls Tina and Danny began to grow closer with each other. He seemed like a nice guy, so one night, they organized for a date.
The day for the date came by and Danny arrived at Tina's doorstep, she excitedly opened the door to greet him but quickly stopped in her tracks. Danny was nothing like he explained...
He wasn't attractive at all, his hair wasn't blonde, it was dark and greasy, and his appearance just looked disorganized. She decided to forget about it and they went out for a bit anyway. It only lasted a little over an hour before she got herself out of there.
During their date the passing of her mother was brought up, and Danny seemed to take an unnaturally high interest in the subject.
Tina would later say that it was like Danny was obsessed with the passing of her mother, questioning her often about how much she had suffered when it happened.
Having a bad feeling about this, naturally Tina didn't go on another date with Danny, she wouldn't pick up another call from him, and that was that... Or so she thought...
Danny was a very psychologically disturbed individual... He had a very bad upbringing. He suffered an extremely traumatic childhood which warped his mind to an unrepairable state at an early age. His father would often abuse him, physically, emotionally, and sexually. He struggled to make friends, he struggled with his grades, and he didn't have proper habits for hygiene. Most people at school thought he was creepy and weird. Concerned with his obviously abnormal behavior, school officials referred him to a psychiatrist... This same psychiatrist would sexually abuse Danny also, for an entire year.
Seemingly everybody he trusted betrayed him.
He turned to crime, and he began spending his evenings breaking into people's homes and stealing from them.
By 15 his behavior got worse, and he wouldn't just break in and steal things anymore, now he would move things around and leave things behind... Misplace things, make people wonder if somebody had been in their house.
He was conducting a psychological game that he enjoyed, he was doing it just to mess with people, but subtly, not so obvious that you were 100% sure of yourself, purposely in a way that he knew you would be questioning yourself, where the only thing you were left with was confusion and uncertainty.
By the age of 17 one of the homes he had broken into belonged to friends of Tina's family... It's speculated that this is how he obtained her phone number to begin with.
Coming back to where left Frank, he's in Tina's room, he just saw a bloody message painted across the walls saying "Marry Me", and on the other side of the room, a figure stood dressed in the clothing of his now deceased wife. Blonde hair hung down across the figure's shoulders, draping down to the hatchet that was held in it's hand.
The figure lunged at him, struggling with him for a few seconds until eventually pushing past him, somehow leaving him unharmed. As Frank turned to lay eyes on his attacker, they were nowhere to be seen... It was as if they had just disappeared into nothingness.
Frank ran to the neighbors as fast as he could and the police were called to the scene, but when they arrived they couldn't find anybody else in the house.
Frank was horrified, he didn't know what to do. For the time being they stayed with relatives while Frank figured out what to do next. 2 days later he would come back to the home to grab a few things, as he arrived, before he got out of the vehicle he noticed the same figure that attacked him was standing in view of the window. Frank began to panic as he called the police once again.
What happened next even scared the officers.
This is a quote from one of the officers that arrived on scene:
"When I opened the door, on the right-hand wall, I saw a knife sticking out of the wall. And I see it's through a picture - a family picture - written on it was 'I'M STILL HERE. COME FIND ME.' Now the hair goes up on the back of my head. On another wall, I saw another picture saying 'I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALL' with a knife through it." - Officer Bezanson
They searched the house more thoroughly this time. Behind the washer and dryer, they found a piece of wood that was hiding a crawl space that led through the entire house.
Speaking about the state of Danny and Tina. Danny didn't like how his calls were being ignored.
When he was rejected, he broke into her house, happened to stumble across the crawlspace, and for about a month he would torment them while lingering in the walls of their home.
He would knock and tap on the walls, he would listen to them talk, he created peepholes in all of the rooms so he could watch them whenever he wanted. Those red messages? He was using ketchup to make it look like blood just so he'd get inside their heads. That figure that charged at Frank wearing his deceased wife's clothes? That was Danny, he dressed himself up, put makeup on and a blonde wig, attempting to look like their mother. Whether he was doing that to actually convince the children that he was their mother's spirit, or if he was just trying to scare them is unknown.
The very last time the police were called where they found the crawlspace, they would find Danny curled up inside.
He would be charged with armed assault, sent to a juvenile detention facility for the next 10 months, and be released through a $10 000 bail in October 1987. This decision would ultimately lead to the death of 3 people in the near future.
Andrew and Priscilla Gustafson were a young couple who had been living in the small city for the past 5 years. They lived there with their two children Abigail(7), and William(5)... and she was currently pregnant awaiting another child.
They lived roughly half a mile from where Danny lived.
Not even a month after Danny was released he would break in and steal items from their home just like he did to many others. He would continue to do this to several homes in the area in the following weeks.
On December 1st, Danny would return to the home while everybody was gone.
Andrew was at work, Abigail was at school, and Priscilla was out to pickup William.
The last time Priscilla was seen alive was around 1:00 Pm when she was picking up William from the babysitter.
Danny heard Priscilla enter the home, and instead of leaving like he usually would, he took her to the bedroom, locked William in a closet, then proceeded to sexually assault her, until he decided to shoot her twice in the head. He obtained the weapon from a neighbors home that he robbed earlier.
Then he took William out of the closet, drowning him in the upstairs bathtub, and went to leave like nothing happened. Before he left Abigail returned home from school, so naturally being the horrifying monster he is, he drowned her in the downstairs bathroom before leaving.
Around 5:30 is when Andrew Gustafson would return home, and he would find the gruesome bloody leftovers of what had transpired in the main bedroom. He called the police before searching anywhere else.
Andrew would later say:
"I was too afraid of going to look for my children because I was afraid I’d find them dead... It was so shocking and unbelievable. I screamed. I wailed.”
Officers had a feeling that Danny had something to do with it from the very start.
A police lieutenant was on the search for Danny, a resident of the area he was in felt like something was wrong so she went up to him and asked him if he would be with her as they walked into her home.
She would later say:
"I drove into the driveway and into the garage. I immediately drove back out and sit in the driveway feeling extremely uncomfortable,"
When they entered the home, Danny was there... He jumped out of one of the windows and got away as he ran into the forest.
Danny would later force a resident of a different nearby street into her car, but he would escape again after the resident had jumped from the vehicle.
Later that evening and 48 hours after the search began they would finally find him hiding in a dumpster nearby.
Hair from Abigail was found on his sock, sealing his fate in relation to the murders.
Upon hearing about what had happened, Frank Bowen would say:
"If Daniel LaPlante does not get convicted and gets out again, I will personally kill him."
"You can't imagine what kind of fear we have been living in. He is mentally insane. There is no question about it,"
"And now, I am financially broke and emotionally disturbed and trying to put my life together again."
In 1988 Daniel LaPlante was found guilty of all three murders and sentenced to 3 life sentences, with the possibility of parole after 45 years.

2024.05.18 03:06 goulishpremonition How "protected" are legislated days off in BC?

Hello! I’m located in British Columbia and I’m having an issue with my employer suddenly punishing workers for using legislated time off (family and sick days).
I work at a call center, so we have several components that make up our stats, which in turn determines a sort of “floor ranking” that’s used for determining the pecking order for shift bids, performance grading, and receiving bonuses. For several years, as long as I remember, using a legislated day off never impacted your stats (versus just calling in). This made sense to me, because these days are protected, and people shouldn't be forced to decide between being punished at work or taking care of their health and/or immediate family.
Our site has recently come under a change in leadership (someone new to Canada), and in the next few weeks we will be having a shift bid (after years of not having them). I wasn’t worried because I’ve always maintained great numbers and attendance, aside from using some legislated time off (attendance outage is our biggest metric). Today they announced anyone who took legislated time off will now see that outage reflected on their own personal stats and subsequently be placed lower on the ranking. This, to me, is effectively punitive action for taking protected time off.
It’s pretty outrageous to me that they’re doing this with virtually no notice, but legally, can they? From what I could find, they can’t fire you for taking legislated time off, but can they retaliate in this manner? If someone is unable to get the shift they need to stay employed because they used a sick/family day, is that not indirectly the same thing? Is this not coercing employees from accessing their protected days off?
I hope this makes sense - thank you for any advice!

2024.05.18 00:12 IRemember123 The PhD Physicist Fighting Hedge Funds… For You

This is a story about a PhD particle physicist who hates liars and scammers in the trading world so much that he built an investment grade stock analysis platform.
Why? To give you a shot against hedge funds who move their market to their whim.
How? He is using his math and physics skills to build unique algos to help you with your investment decision. Oh, he's also tracking politician's portfolios :)
What? He built a really cool and simple platform & community for small and medium investors to get an edge in the market.
How much? Not sure if you're going to believe it, but there's a free version. And the paid version is... wait for it... $10 a month. I kid you not! Here's his story 👇
Meet Dr. Muslem Rahimi, a PhD in particle physics with a strong self-deprecating humor and an inspiring man with a unique perspective on the world.
Imagine a blend of Richard Feynman’s curiosity, Jim Simons passion for trading algos, William Wallace’s fierce determination and you have Dr. Rahimi.
A self-proclaimed "Chief of Nothing" at stocknear.com, his journey from the realm of physics to building stock analysis algos rivaling billion dollar institutions is as intriguing as the man himself.
From Particle Physics to Stock Algos
With a PhD in theoretical particle physics, prior to Stocknear, he was developing models to describe New Physics — phenomena that extend beyond our current understanding of the universe. That’s his Feynman part.
But physics isn’t his only passion. Financial markets winked at him and tickled his curiosity due to their immense complexity and algorithms used by huge funds who moved the market as they wanted.
As he likes to say himself: “I love solving hard problems that require math and programming. I apply that knowledge to help my fellow traders who fight unfair odds against big FInstitutions”. That’s his Simons side.
That wasn’t the only reason. As he was researching and going deeper into the world of finance and trading, he noticed two things that aligned perfectly with his mission.
The Birth of Stocknear
So he started building. The scientist and mathematician inside him shook hands: he would apply the scientific approach to solve this big problem. How? Using transparent metrics to evaluate each model so as to not mislead his users about performance.
He took his knowledge and skill set and, in less than a month since his idea, the first version of Stocknear was out. That was around 12 months ago.
Stocknear’s purpose is to empower YOU, the average investor, to make due diligence as efficient as possible.
Why? So you get a very good understanding of the stock you are planning on buying.
If you are one who trades often and follows the latest trends in the stock market, this is institutional grade data analysis and algorithms.
You get stock analysis, heatmaps, market movers, ETF's, calendars for dividends/earnings/IPO/economic, options flow data, hedge funds monitoring and a LOT more for $10 a month. That’s his William Wallace talking. Pretty damn cool, huh?

Mirror Trade Your Favorite Politician? Sure!

Oh, in case you want to see what stock your favorite politician just bought (and maybe mirror trade), it’s right there. If you didn’t know, Nancy Pelosi earned $43 million last year from her stock investments. This year, she’s up $20 million. And it’s just May! So maybe you want to get in on that action as well… it’s only a click away.

RoaringKitty 2.0?
Not quite, better actually. Dr. Muslem isn’t pushing up a stock using the community while pretending he’s fighting the system. He’s giving you the tools to make informed decisions against those who tip the scales in their favor.
He’s not dumping while you are buying, he’s actually helping average investors know what they’re up against with state of the art stock market algorithms and math.
From 0 To First Users
From the moment Dr. Muslem had the idea, he was firm in his decision that the platform will be priced in a way which allows anyone to benefit from his data and algorithms. Helping traders and investors compete in a market dominated by big money was and is his main mission.
His main acquisition channels for users are Twitter and Reddit. Remember, he’s a brainiac, not a marketer. So he opened up and told his story about his work. This brought in the first users and things started moving in a positive direction.
When I asked what his go to market strategy was, he candidly replied: “Still don’t have any. I just try to fight scammers and help smaller investors. I am working on leveling up my marketing skills.”
"Your Website..."
One terribly funny feedback he got after he launched was from a user saying: “Your website shit bruv”. Obviously, that didn’t really stop him. And no, his website is… well, you judge for yourself.
Dr. Muslem also shared the great feeling he had when he got his first paying customer, telling me that it’s a truly beautiful moment he won’t ever forget.
It's always inspiring to see other people appreciate what you built. It gets you the energy you need to push through and keep at it.
Quick money grab? No, thanks!
Soon after he launched, a user noticed the quality of the algorithms employed on the platform. So he contacted the founder and said he wanted an AI solution that works most of the time to predict the stock market and he would obviously pay anything to get it.
Dr. Muslem said no, this goes against probability theory and anyone who says they have a model to accurately predict the market is a scammer and liar. Who says that in finance?!
The user realized afterwards that the request was against logic and our physicist had no intention of taking his money with false promises. Pretty weird to turn down a big payday in today’s world, isn’t it?
Challenges and Lessons
From day one until today, he faced multiple challenges that he had to overcome, but that is part of the entrepreneur’s life. Problems are nothing but questions that await your answer.
When dealing with a challenge, the physicist inside him pops out and starts playing with the problem like a child until it breaks down.
“When you know what caused the break you understand the underlying structure. Even when I have absolutely no idea how or where to start, I slice up the big problem into 10 small problems and voila! Now I know where to start and progress very fast from there.”
Everyone Has A Plan Until...
What intrigued him mostly wasn’t the technical problems, he’s used to that and actually enjoys them. Facing inconsistent stories and lies from data providers was the big issue.
It became clear quite fast that the finance world isn’t as truthful as the world he was accustomed to. Despite these hurdles, valuable lessons were learned along the way. As he puts it, "Nothing goes as planned, so just enjoy the ride."
Spread The Word About Your Work
One more piece of advice is focus on marketing and building awareness even before launching your project. Building beautiful things is wasted effort if people don’t know about your work, regardless of how much you help them out.
Dr. Muslem knows he has a lot to improve in that area, since most of the time he is focused on improving his algorithms and making sure the data is accurate. Marketing? Not so much. But he’s on it.
How Are Things Going Today?
As of today, Stocknear is bringing in around $1,000 each month.
The short to medium term goal? Spreading the word about his work and helping as many people as possible make better investment decisions with his platform. Revenue wise, this target is reaching $10,000 MRR while constantly improving the platform.
When it comes to development, he is constantly working on improving his algorithms to make sure he's bringing value to his users. From the moment he wakes up, he starts working on the project.
As he likes to say, his favorite day is: “a quiet room where I can work 12 hours a day with food and water”.
Grateful For The Community
Work is work, problems are inevitable and some things you cannot control. That's life. His gratitude is pointing towards the beautiful community that has slowly formed around Stocknear.
There is a community section on the website and Discord channel where investors are exchanging ideas, opinions and sometimes sh*t talking and posting memes, of course.
If you haven't been around the investment communities, you haven't truly lived to understand what memes are.
But that's the beauty, isn't it? Finding the right crowd to share your highs and lows. Being there for each other. Fighting the good fight. And telling the story of your achievements. One day at a time.
Trust Yourself And Keep Moving
To all you aspiring entrepreneurs out there, our founder has a message: don't do it unless you absolutely can't imagine doing anything else. Sure, the road may be rocky, but the journey is worth every twist and turn.
When you have no answer to a problem, trust that it is within you. If you are spiritual, say a prayer and sleep on it. If you aren’t, think really hard about it and let it go. Trust that your answer will come to you. There is no such thing as hopelessness, only trustlessness.
At the end of the day, Dr. Muslem keeps reminding himself that we all die sooner or later so he wants to spend his time helping people and learning everything that sparks his interest.
Life is short, so don't be a donkey and help everyone out even if it is just a smile.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. This is what I do, my mission is to find high potential entrepreneurs with beautiful businesses and share them to interested communities. There are a LOT of people building amazingly useful things but don’t get the appreciation or visibility they deserve. I know that pain firsthand from experience.

2024.05.17 22:48 Universal_247 AITAH for wanting to minimize interaction with my abusive dad?

Actually he is my uncle but he has been the father figure since I was around 10. I'm 23 now.
So I did something (cooked some onion) and he commented about how "that's not how it's done". I thought it was (mistakenly so) so I said "it is done like this". He repeats himself and so do I two or three times, after which he was getting visibly angry. Just his face, he was actually containing it, which was apparent.
But this was enough to trigger me (if you wish to know why this was triggering there's a recent post about it on my profile, trigger warning for physical violence and humiliation). He started to leave after doing some explaining and when he was walking away I said smt like "you're already getting crazy!" (Which in our language sounds kinda worse but idk how to translate) Meaning the visible anger on his face that triggered me was overreacting to me just contradicting him. Supposedly, me just bluntly replying "yes it's done like this" is provocative.
Anyways after hearing that he comes back and gets in my face. He wasn't going to hit me, that's "in the past", but he feinted and I turned my head, expecting a hit. Somehow we ended up talking for like two hours, there were many points we both wanted to get across to the other and I doubt there was much mutual understanding , but what's relevant to this post is that he made it known that things would be "worse" if I ever spoke to him like that. That he would beat me if I called him an idiot.
He showed me how he has been containing himself all this time, and that even know after saying you're going crazy he didn't hit me. That's true.
He said he really hates being offended. He told me that one time when he asked a worker that was doing stuff in our house for something, the dude just turned his back to him and my dad screamed so loudly the dude was startled. Like did a little jump.
I'm like: you think that's good for your health? You've been containing your temper lately, you think it's good? Repressing it even further will only make it worse in the long run and you will stop being so effective at restraining yourself when you want to. He seems to think he knows a thing or two about psychology so he replied with condescension at my suggestion that he needs to fix the anger issues instead of just controlling himself when they arise. Whatever.
It sucks. What's even worse is that most lf the time he is normal. Like 999/1000 times. Our baseline is good terms right now. But my subconscious still remembers, I haven't unpacked all those things yet. I don't like knowing that my father would beat me up for offending him. I don't like not saying something to him (even if it is calling him stupid) only because of fear of physical responses.
I told him many things, like how it sucks fearing my own father and he said "don't provoque me then".I painted a hypothetical situation in which I called him an idiot to ask him what would happen if he didn't react in an aggressive/violent manner, he replied and finished with "but better never call me that". I was like "wouldn't you stop to think why would your son call you that? Why would anybody call their dad that way if everything was good? Or why I said you were getting crazy?" And whatever the fuck his reply was to that it probably boiled down to "you have no business saying those things". Sure, calling someone an idiot isn't good. Focus on that. .
My repressed emotions to his attitude all this years were there in the conversation. I kept stopping because the knot in my throat wouldn't let me talk, tears on my eyes. This didn't seem to communicate anything to him.
I wonder what I'll do when I get stronger than him. I'd be so tempted to start something just to show him he can't overpower me anymore. I wouldn't even hit him, just restrain him and faking a hit just so he sees what it feels like. Even then, I don't think it compares to an adult doing that to a kid or teenager. He has heart issues though, and as much as I wish for payback, I feel like his rage would be so much worse after being restrained that his heart could worsen (also I understand revenge makes no real sense, forgive them Father for they not what they do, if he could understand he would).
Anyway. We hadn't had an altercation like this in a while, and it's the first time I actually said something like that to him. He won't hit me if I don't insult him. But his intimidating nature is still present at times, for example when I don't listen to him and stubbornly oppose him (it happens sometimes but I only with him, surprised?) And knowing he can get like violent or just verbally aggressive doesn't make the "good times" worth it. He is a "good charismatic person" basically all the time except when these things happen. But I'm at odds with the fact that if I ever fail to contain my subconscious resentment to him and call him something (motherfucker, idiot, stupid high-iq but low-eq controlling dumbfuck) I'll get beat up. I understand that healing is on me to stop walking on eggshells when he is around, but I'm starting to dislike him on a more conscious level now. Which is confusing too because everytime I've brought this up to my mother, she seemed to understand part of how I was feeling, but ultimately it boiled down to "he's family and will catch a bullet for you, will always drop anything he is doing when we need help". WHICH IS TRUE BUT I DON'T CARE
AITAH for wanting to keep interactions with him at the bare minimum?
EDIT: I'd love to move out. I live with my mom, grandma and grandpa. He lives in the city and comes by 1/2/3 times a week, frequently spending the night or two. I still love them, and especially my mom and her parents, but being able to fuck off whenever I need to without resorting to going some place or park would be great. But I can't. I'd put an extremely tough burden on my mom, she'd have no live left: she works a lot, grandpa is getting very old but main thing is taking care of my grandma, there are some things like lifting her that only I can do because grandpa is too old and uncle can't due to some tendon issues on his arms. Besides the option to start earning a metric shitload of money to retire her and be able to afford 24/7 elderly care personnel, do you have any ideas about how to approach this?
EDIT: at some point he brought up the "how much love we gave you" situation. Now here is what disturbs me. It's true, I've been given tons of love, patience, opoortunities, the works, not only from the rest of the family but from him as well. So I imagine myself as a parent that loves their kid so much, and then I imagine myself intimidating him because he called me crazy, or hitting him because he didn't listen and did something different from what we had agreed on, behind my back, for the millionth time. It feels wrong, it feels ignorant. I'd be wondering why the fuck does my son agree to do a certain thing and when it comes time to it, he does a different one. I'd start thinking about why he keeps lying about school grades, failing to pass the year even when he sees how bad it stresses his mother out... Instead of hitting him in the face with a closed fist (but hey, it wasn't full force!!) because he keeps lying and driving his mom crazy.
But hey, that's me. I'm "not the one to teach him about psychology"

2024.05.17 22:48 Universal_247 Am I exaggerating for wanting to minimize interaction with my abusive dad?

2024.05.17 22:44 Universal_247 Am I exaggerating for wanting to minimize interaction with my abusive dad?

(Throwaway account because I’m identifiable on my main) After having my last child, I felt lost. I’d gained so much weight and had absolutely no energy to workout or meal prep. Zepbound has taken away the mental load of weight loss - I can eat a healthy diet and not obsess about it, which has left me free to focus on my family, career, and fitness goals. In six months I’ve lost 54 pounds, completed a metric century, and am training for my first triathlon. The last time I was at this weight was the 5th grade.

Magnolia Arkansas Preparing For Lithium Boom
Several companies are expanding in south Arkansas. Some are even looking at the possibly of lithium production, an essential in electric vehicle batteries.
One concern, are there enough homes in the city to handle the growth? “The demand for lithium is only going to increase. America needs more lithium production so we’re not reliant on enemy countries like China, that produces so much of the world’s lithium and other rare earth elements.
“We need housing. We have the infrastructure. We’re extending infrastructure, but we need housing,” said Magnolia Mayor Parnell Vann. All that housing is needed because ExxonMobil is planning to build one of the world’s largest lithium processing facilities near town. Other companies, such as, Tetra and Standard Lithium, have also acquired thousands of acres in brine leases in Columbia and Lafayette counties.
The southwest region is located on a geological formation brimming with saltwater brine. The companies plan to chemically extract lithium from the brine. City leaders believe lithium extraction facilities could bring up to 6,000 jobs to Magnolia. With southwest Arkansas primed to be a leader in lithium production, business leaders in Magnolia say they want to be prepared to take advantage of this growing industry. Even though housing is tough to find right now, he believes if they can get the right investors, more people in town will benefit the entire community.
Even without the recent talk of lithium production, Vann says two existing companies in other industries have already made plans for expansion. The Potlatch-Deltic Timber Corporation is investing $130 million in upgrades, and the Albemarle Corporation, a specialty chemical manufacturer, is investing $540 million, which means hundreds of new jobs.
State leaders have said south Arkansas potentially has enough lithium to produce about 15% of the world’s lithium.
Magnolia, a blue-collar town in the state’s southern region, was once a locus for oil but is on track to become a major producer of lithium, dubbed ‘white gold’ because of its soft, silvery-white look and the fact it powers most modern tech – from cellphones to laptops and electric cars. Exxon Mobil is planning to build one of the world’s largest lithium processing facilities near the town, with a capacity to produce 75,000 to 100,000 metric tons of lithium a year, sources say, which would be 15 percent of the world’s lithium production.
The town is located on what is known as the Smackover formation, a geological formation that runs from Texas to Florida and is brimming with saltwater brine – which contains small amounts of lithium. Lithium is going to be huge in Magnolia. It is not so much as the lithium but the jobs that will go with it. He added that everything from truck stops to auto body shops and clothing stores in and around the small town will see growth.
Exxon Mobil purchased 120,000 gross acres in May and is developing more than 6,100 lithium-rich acres in Arkansas with Tetra Technologies. Exxon Mobil predicts it could produce up to 110,000 tons of lithium annually, enough to power 50 million electric vehicles. Tetra, which produces chemicals for water treatment and recycling, in June said it had signed an agreement with a company known as Saltwerx to develop 6,138 acres of salty brine deposits in Arkansas that are filled with lithium and bromine, although it provided few additional details. Saltwerx is a subsidiary of Exxon, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Also moving into the southern state is Vancouver-based Standard Lithium, which secured rights for 30,000 acres of brine leases west of Magnolia. Standard Lithium announced in May that it sampled Arkansas’s highest confirmed lithium-grade brine.

2024.05.17 03:47 LunarNeedle I made my own dream patch notes to re-add the fun back into the primaries without needing too many manhours at AH. Simple changes, huge results! The Helldiver way™

I was thinking about the new SEAF basic training course pushing forward new troops, and wondered if this was a new ploy to write in the guns becoming universally better into the story from all the new citizens picking up rifles for Super Earth, leading to a huge balance pass adding back the fun back into the primaries to help ease the annoying burden of being stuck with your primaries only.
These passes were made to add in power back into the game mostly via easily adjustable stuff. Ammo capacity, mag count, damage, explosive damage, heat build up you name it. This balance pass was made so that there felt like there was no trap gun, just guns with unique purposes. When guns were identical, I'd nerf some stats to create diversity between builds. But still, hypotheticals aside, lets have some fun and buff our divers
I've provided as much numbers as I could by stealing them from this heavenly guide I've read in my tired stupor. Below every gun, I've included a little blurb, but whenever I have a * next to it, I'm either not confident on the gun, don't have it or both.
If you want to run your own balance pass, feel free; but do remember the priority of this mental excersize was the ease of implementation. This can be also done to stragems as well, but I opted to keep the focus in what the Helldiver drops down with first and foremost. Although, I really really agree that we need to spawn with -1 stim w/o space optimization, not -2

Assault Rifle

Liberator: Damage up (60->68), capacity slightly up (45-46)
(The all-around good gun now with a bit more damage to help with tankier foes)
Liberator Penetrator: Damage increased (45->70)
(Far chunkier, so much so nothing else needs to be buffed)
Liberator Concussive: Damage up (65->75)
(Does 10% less DPS than Liberator, but explodes weakpoints so it's balanced)
Adjudicator: Damage up (80->92)
(An ammo hog should do good damage, making it a better half marksman/assault rifle with Concussive being buffed so heavily to be brought in line)
Tenderizer: Damage up (60->68), reload speed slightly slower (3.1sec -> 3.3sec for full reload, tactical saves 1 second), fire rate reduced (10 -> 8 shots/sec)
(A stun-full side-grade to Lib Penetrator that does slightly less DPS in favor of stun)*

Marksman Rifles

Diligence: Unchanged stats, medium penetration by default.
(It's a sniper, it should be the first earliest Medium Penetration)
Diligence CS: Damage up (140->175)
(To give a compensatory buff to CS w/ Diligence getting Medium Penetration)

SMGs

Defender: Damage up slightly (70->78), capacity up (45->60), slight reduction in fire rate (520->495)
(Slightly chunkier SMG, with slightly more ammo to help with SSD delivery)
Pummeler: Quicker reload (3.2 seconds -> 2.9 seconds full reload)
(20% less DMG than Defender, but with stagger on hit and a less awful reload compared to Defender)*
Knight: One more mag in reserve (7 -> 8)
(Hey, this thing is pretty good looking, so lets let you use it longer)*

Shotguns

Punisher: Higher fire rate (80->120), decrease in damage (405->380)
(Very good stagger gun, should get more firerate for damage to allow AOE stunning if spreading wide enough)
Slugger: Double damage (250->500), reduced fire rate (80->70), slightly increased recoil (120->140), slightly increased reload time (5% per round)
(Big gun should feel big, and this does that. Might be too much?)*
Breaker: Damage decreased slightly (330->300), fire rate up (300->380), capacity per clip increase (13->16)
(Pretty good shotgun, so just tuning its numbers to really let you spray a bit more, but more as much as the namesake)
Breaker Incendiary: Fire rate up (300->380), capacity per clip slightly reduced (25->24), 2 less pellets w/ same damage (20/pellet -> 24/pellet), 30% less spread
(More damage via fire rate, more capacity, less total pellets helping avoid potential friendly fire)*
Breaker Spray 'n Pray: Fire rate up (330->440), capacity up (26->32), spare magazine up (7->10)
(Spray and Pray should really be more efficient ammo wise; like this thing should be THE W+M1 diver build)*
Dominator: Damage up (275 -> 360), slower fire-rate (4.16/sec -> 3.8/sec)
(15% overall DPS increase to keep in line with the other shotguns)

Energy Weapons + Explosives

Sickle: Mag count up (3->4), damage slightly up to 58
(Slightly more DPS, slightly more mags to keep it good while the other items get larger buffs)
Scythe: Mag count up (3->4), lowered heat build-up by 15%, damage increase (350/sec->480/sec)
(Making it both less of a trap to use with higher DPS, but not high enough it outguns even the explosive crossbow, which considering it's range is fine)*
Punisher Plasma: Contact damage increases (100->150), explosion damage increased (150->200)
(Sometimes when a gun has so many dumb parts about it, sometimes just slapping on a bigger number can fix it. This is one of those guns, but I admit more experienced people could provide a better buff)
Crossbow: Damage way up (420->680), capacity up (5->6), spare magazines up (8->10)
(This buff pushes this gun into the range of damage just above current LibPenerator, which considering it's stealthy could be fine.)
Eruptor: Contact damage up (420 -> 640), explosive damage up (190->220), capacity up per clip (5 -> 6), still no shrapnel
(Only attacking 0.416 times per second means this gun's only now is superior to in-game explosive crossbow, but considering it's explosive damage and huge stagger I think this is fine...)
Blitzer: Damage per bolt increased (250 -> 400), recharge speed slightly slower (1.33seconds -> 1.2seconds)
(Same as the first, just added more DPS to the gun to help balance out it's native Helldiver accuracy bonus)
Scorcher: Contact and explosive damage slightly up (100+100->115+115)
(Apparently this is good against bots, so I'm just giving it a little buff as a treat. Honestly the most superfluous, but I buffed all the others so ;P)

Secondaries

Peacemaker: More damage (90/shot) (Honestly, this one is just to make it feel like it's a sidegrade from Redeemer other than ammo efficiency)
Redeemer: More reserve mags (4->6), fire rate down (18.33/sec -> 17/sec) (To make Redeemer slightly more flexible for SSSD transport while still being good DPS wise)
Senator: Damage up (175->240) (Make it less of a compromise to select this over the other buffed secondaries)
Verdict: Damage up (125->140), magazine size up (10->12), improved ergonomics (Slightly better magazine size and damage to keep it feeling fun, with better ergonomics vs. the senator)
Dagger: Damage doubled (200/sec -> 400 damage/sec) (New lowest DPS gun, but still twice as strong as live game)
Grenade Pistol: Explosion size up, damage up (250+350 -> 350->400), reserve ammo up (8->9). (Honestly don't use this thing at all, definitely want fellow divers to give this a balance pass)
* means I don't have experience with the weapon yet, and am just running off of collective vibes from community + friends.
Yeah, lots of damage up ain't it? The biggest problem with the game is the DPS difference when you pick a bad gun in a bad situation, and this patch was made to make every gun closer to ther 600/sec DPS metric, or at least as close as I can. If you want to redo ANY of these changes, feel free to comment with how you'd change it. I'd love to spark any discussion on game balance to help support our Helldivers on the warfront. For Super Earth!

2024.05.16 23:35 SuperCustodiam A Buyer's Guide to the AL Ships

This is a straight to the point buyers guide for people that are wondering if any of the AL ships are worth buying or not. I am here to give you an idea of what's worth, and what's not. I will rank them in descending order for convenience. Keep in mind that these are from my own opinions on the game: my word is not law. These are just my recommendations from my personal experience and a spur of the moment deal personally.

Best Pick: AL Montpelier

This is a premium version of Cleveland, the USN tier VIII CL. However, unlike the later AL premiums, AL Montpelier was unique in at least, a very minor way: She has tighter shot grouping due to a 2.15 sigma versus the standard 2.0 at the cost of slower reload at 0.5 sec slower (7 sec vs 6.5 sec). The result is overall consistent salvos, at the cost of just a little DPM that can be fixed with Adrenaline Rush and Top Grade Gunner, depending on how you build her.
Besides that, she also has un-nerfed version of radar, at a 30 sec vs 27 sec on Cleveland. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you run Consumable Enchantments and or Surveillance Radar Mod 1, you have a larger number that the percent based changes will take affect on. Essentially, with both the commander skill and 2nd slot upgrade, you get 39.6 sec vs 35.6 seconds on duration. So a radar build is not bad compared to Cleveland. Besides that, she doesn't have access to the catapult fighter consumable, but that is super seceded by radar and anyways so who cares.
And above all else, it is a Cleveland, which is IMO, a very competitively viable cruiser at tier VIII, with it's very small citadel, thin profile / narrow beam that leads to a lot of over-penetrations, good DPM, good concealment, and good AA. It really only lacks in the speed, gun range, and shell flight time problems, which can be remedied with skill and positioning.
As far as the commander voice acting, Rie Takahashi voices Montpelier. If you do not know who that is or do not care, and just want to know if the commander's voice is annoying or not, then be happy that she isn't overtly grating compared to some of the other commanders you can get. I find her rather composed, cool, and relaxed, fitting the trope of kuudere, if you even know what that means.
TLDR: Premium Cleveland with higher sigma, slightly lower RoF, Longer lasting radar.

Runner Up: AL Sovetsky Rossiya

This is a premium version of Sovetsky Soyuz, the VMF (Soviet Navy) Tier IX BB. Like Montpelier, she is slightly unique to her tech tree counterpart, bar being premium, by having standard battleship dispersion (USN, Royal Navy, German, etc.) instead of Russian BB dispersion formula that gets way better inside 15km. She does also have 1.8 sigma versus 1.7 sigma, for slightly tighter shot grouping. So, while Soyuz excels at mid range, Rossiya excels at long range, which does reasonably well considering the average high tier meta these days.
Other than that, you retain all the upsides of Fast action Damage Control Parties, the tough hull design of the Sovetsky Soyuz. The only other thing you DO NOT get is the AA, as she has the Hull A of Sovetsky Soyuz, and in turn has worse AA overall. In fact, she has such bad AA that only Musashi beats her out in having worse AA for Tier IX battleships. So yeah, CVs that know their targets will have free reign on you, so stick close to allies in CV matches.
Now a I'll be honest with you, Rossiya is not a super competitive BB at tier IX, so this choice is really just down to being different in few ways instead of blatant copy paste. Really, only AL Montpelier is the only super competitive option here. So above all else, Rossiya is a side grade if anything and you should not fear of having FOMO for not getting her. Besides, she's not an historical ship that is going to get removed because it was OP, so fret not (COUGH COUGH MUSASHI, COUGH COUGH ALASKA, COUGH COUGH MISSOURI).
Lastly, the commander is voiced by Manami Numakura. I can really only characterize her as cool, tough, deep voiced anime woman archetype. I dunno really how to explain it that well, so I apologize for anyone that likes her due to my poor description.
TLDR: Premium Sovetsky Soyuz Hull A with 1.8 sigma and standard battleship dispersion.
OK, with those two out of the way, I want to put a disclaimer here that the next ships are purely optional and not super worth it IMO and really only selected for being different than the rest, I.E. not something that is currently offered in other ships / premium ships already in-game.

Optional 1st Pick: AL Prinz Heinrich

This is a premium version of Prinz Heinrich, the tier VII german battlecruiser of the Ersatz Yorck class. She is a 1 for 1 copy of Prinz Heinrich: no special differences here besides premium benefits.
Now, while she is not unique in any way, she is not a bad battlecruiser for tier VII standards. This mainly comes down to the 50mm deck plating she has in a tier wrought with battleships with just 26mm of plating on their decks. Really, any tier VII battleship that has more than 27mm of plating is really competitive in this tier, simply because they don't get overmatched or full-penned by HE. It's sort of why Scharnhorst '43 is so popular and good, since she doesn't get chunked for 10k when hit by 15 in + guns (380mm guns for ya'll metric nerds).
Besides that, she's not slow as hell, going at a decent 28 knots, has 15in guns herself, has fast acting DCP, and is the first ship in the german battlecruisefast battleship line that gets that sweet improved secondary dispersion formula, which despite the 9km max range, means that she has free DPM to let the game play itself essentially. Combined with torpedoes, she can bum rush many slower and weaker battleships that the german battlecruiser line is famous for. And on top of all that, she also has hydro for better pushing to see torpedoes earlier, or push smoked up ships.
Now for some cons, the guns, while using battlecruiser dispersion have an awful 1.5 sigma, so your shot grouping is... bad. Do not be surprised if a lot of your shells in your salvo get a mind of their own. Besides that, she's on the below average end of HP for tier VII, at 56k. Also, she does have 25mm bow and stern. She does have a 30mm extended belt (colloquially known as an ice breaker), which is followed by 120mm extended belt, that protects the lower portion of the ship from overmatch bar 18in guns that she MIGHT face in the likes of Georgia, Sun Yat Sen, Musashi, and Tsurugi, and Adatara. Still, that doesn't mean she is immune from overmatch, as the odd shell can still get through her bow and stern and chunk you, so do not bet on it 100%.
Now that is for the most part, the review. However, for any true fans out there, they know that Prinz Heinrich from AL is actually a P-Class cruiser, AKA Schill in this game. Since Schill was a limited time ship that required whaling for her, and that wargaming dropped the ball and just did "Oh this ship has the same name! Here ya go!" then you know how much this kind of sucks. If you just like Prinz Heinrich, and want her as a premium, you can ignore this tidbit, but for any true fans that DO NOT have Schill, you're shit outta luck.
As far as commander goes, the voice actor, Hiyori Nitta, does a wonderful job characterizing a carefree and bubbly character. As previously mentioned, I recommend putting her on Schill if you really care about game accuracy, that is, if you even had Schill to begin with.
TLDR: Premium Prinz Heinrich copy-paste. Get it only if you really like Prinz Heinrich (the ship) which is actually pretty good for its tier, and want a premium version of it, or Prinz Heinrich as the character.

Optional 2nd Pick: AL Shimakaze

Hoo boy, this one might be controversial. This is a special ship (NOT a premium ship) of IJN DD, Shimakaze.
Shimakaze really needs no introduction. It is the old school torpedo boat that coined the phrase "Torpedo soup" or at least contributed to that phrase. It can put 3x5 23k damage, 12km Type 93 long lance torpedoes into the water. It has some of the best concealment for her tier, getting down to 5.6km surface detect, and good speed at 39 kts (42 kts when speed boost is active). It has been here since the games launch, and well, admittedly, or at least in my opinion, has seen better days.
Still, while some other DDs might have powercrept her a little, you can't mistake the fact that a well played Shimakaze can terrorize a team that lacks the tools to pin her down. Even if that is seldom the case most of the time (48% win rate on NA out of 8 million battles), the ship still has strong tools when played to it's strengths. 23k damage torpedoes are no joke... if you get hit by them at least, as they have a pretty awful average reaction time of ~9.35 sec (according to wows ship builder). Now, this can be sort of remedied with building for torpedo speed, getting torpedo tubes mod 1 and swift fish to decrease that time to ~8.5 sec, but that's still far above the average of 7.8 sec most torpedoes have in other nations. Still, if you get the right angle, devstriking a full HP battleship is not uncommon if you get a perfectly lined up shot. Thing is, it takes WAY more skill and positioning than you think it does, especially considering that most top tier players sort of know what they're doing, and that a lot of top tier ships can run hydroacoustic search these days.
Combined with the fact that she has some of the worse gun DPM of any tier X DD, and has fairly low HP for the tier, it can be fairly hard to play this ship unless you get just the best matchmaking ever. It's a real feast or famine type ship, which I would say summarizes most of the IJN Shimakaze line in general, bar maybe the mid tiers. All this really means is that Shimakaze is NOT the most competitive DD at tier X, as arguably many other nations have better torpedo boats, or better yet, opt for hybrid boats that can defend themselves fairly well, such as the Pan Euro DDs. Still, as mentioned earlier, if played to her strengths, she can be a good ship, but all I am arguing for is that she is not a meta ship, at least in my opinion.
Now, onto the whole Special Ship thing. Yes, this IS a tier X ship that can be bought for money. And YES, this is like the ARP Yamato deal, allowing noob whales to skip to tier X and forgo all the blood sweat and tears that goes into grinding to top tier. And YES, IT'S A SHIMAKAZE, THE TIER X NOOB MACHINE. I DO NOT HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR MANY AL SHIMAKAZE PLAYERS EITHER. With that out of the way, what benefit do you get for getting a special ship version of Shimakaze?
Well, to start, Special ships essentially have the premium bonus package already baked in, I.E: +50% Credits, +100% Ship XP, +100% Commander XP, +100% Free XP. On top of that, you also have a reduced repair cost compared to a standard tier X. Besides that, you can freely swap commanders onto this ship like a premium ship with no retraining required, making it a good trainer. These are the ONLY 2 reasons that make this ship more economically viable compared to Shimakaze. While the bonus package on Shimakaze can achieve 1 of these 3 effects, the other two, reduced repair cost and free commander swapping, puts this above standard Shimakaze as a result.
So, unfortunately, This is a slightly better Shimakaze. So if you REALLY like Shimakaze, and want a premium version of it, well, here it is, for a lot of goddamn money. Like $100+ expensive. Go figure ya know?
Also, the commander is voiced by Saori Hayami.
TLDR: Special Ship verison of Shimakaze. Take if you are a whale have a lot of expendable income to burn, AND really like Shimakaze (The ship), and or really like Shimakaze (the AL character).

Optional 3rd Pick: AL Yukikaze

AL Yukikaze is a similar version of the IJN DD Kagero, but with F8 torpedoes and no option for torpedo reload booster.
Now, this is the last of the semi-unique AL ships, as every other one has been copy-paste. Yukikaze at the very least is different in that she has F8 torpedoes. These differ than Kagero's choice by having less range, (8km vs 10km), higher damage (21k vs 20k), faster reload (104 sec vs 112 sec), and higher speed (76kts to 67kts) which also leads to a better reaction time of ~8.8 sec vs ~9.45 sec.
Now, does this make Yukikaze better? No, not really, as 8km is rather short range for high tier standards. It does make them almost break past ~8 sec reaction time with a full torpedo speed build, the best of any type 93 torpedo, but combined with the fact that it has no other differences in gun handling, DPM, HP, and consumables, I find this shorter ranged torpedo to be a high risk high reward setup, which already exacerbates high tier IJN DD gameplay further than it already is, being so heavily feast or famine.
I can really only recommend this ship if you really like Kagero for whatever reason and really like the 8km F8 playstyle. That and if you like the history of the ship and or like the character of the ship, voiced by Kana Yuuki, despite how annoying and self aggrandizing her character is made out to be.
TLDR: Kagero but 8km F8 torpedoes.
OK, now for the ships I really do not recommend at all for varying reasons. The reviews are going to be more brief from here on out.

Skip 1: AL Cheshire

Only get this if you really, REALLY want to get Cheshire right now. Currently, regular Cheshire is off sale, and cannot be obtained. For whatever reason you think you might need Cheshire, this is the only way to obtain her at the moment in AL form. Which more than likely means that if you want her, you are more than likely a fan of the AL character, as the ship itself is pretty bad. Kind of polarizing given that Cheshire in AL is pretty meta, and her in WoWs she's pretty solidly in D tier for competitiveness.
She is essentially a worse Albemarle, having no Spotter Plane, and garbage DPM for the tier. Really, the 9.2 in guns really only offer 59mm of pen vs 34mm, and better AP pen with overall flatter flight times, but not by much. The armor is Okayish, but trust me when you will get smacked through your bow and stern often, as you have a stepped citadel that if you get overmatched through either direction, you WILL get citadelled. While you get that 50% cit and hull repair party, it really doesn't matter that much when it happens so often, or you just get straight up dev striked. Combined with the lack of spotter plane, that 16km gun range will feel really short, especially when you are bottom tier.
You can at least be happy that the AA she has is up to par in how she is in AL, as it's best in class for her tier. Well, mostly, but her Flak Count is above average at 6+1, and combined with always having defensive fire, I recommend getting the commander skill Focus Fire Training, so you get that +1 flak cloud for 8 in total, which combined with Defensive fires flak buff, those flak bursts will do 7k a pop, Which is the equivalent to instantly destroying about 7 to 3 planes depending on the type if they run into it while DF is active.
Besides that, the commander is voiced by Shizuka Ishigami, and well, pretends to be a catgirl.
TLDR: Get this if you really really, REALLY want Cheshire and you don't have one, or because you really like the AL character.

Skip 2: AL Hornet

This is just Hornet. You can get her cheaper with a 25% discount coupon. It's also a CV, which I imagine is not everyones cup of tea.
The commander is voiced by Nozomi Yamamoto, and personally, I enjoy the happy go lucky characterization she has. This might be the ONLY reason you want to get Hornet, that or because you like the cool skin the ship has, and or the free 10 point commander.
TLDR: Get regular Hornet with 25% discount. ONLY buy this if you love AL Hornet (the character) to pieces.

Skip 3 & 4: AL Azuma and AL Agir

These two are just Agir and Azuma, coal ships, that you can get absolutely for free. They are also not really the best Tier IX cruisers anyways, as Azuma is super vulnerable to battleships, and Agir doesn't match up to the likes of other large cruisers at this tier.
That said, I can only imagine you getting these ships for the same reasons for Hornet, and that is because you are a fan of the AL characterization of these ships, as Azuma is voiced by Kiyono Yasuno, and Agir, Ayane Sakura. Or you just like the ship skins.
TLDR: Get Azuma and or Agir for free with Coal. ONLY buy this if you love AL Agir / AL Azuma (the characters).

BONUS: Commander Pack

Hahaha no. Unless you really love AL and don't mind by dropping... looks at price... 100$+ USD and getting a ton of fully voiced commanders, then go for it. The only other reason would be because you are a fresh player and need 10 point commanders for most of the nations in this game, which is really only useful if you need say concealment expert on destroyers for example, then sure, go for it if you find that to be an OK option.

EDIT: BONUS BONUS: AL Littorio

I forgot AL Roma, I mean AL Littorio is also a thing, and on an 80% sale.
Anyways, Roma herself sucks.
The guns have so much muzzle velocity that you will overpen targets 50% of the time. Combined with the Italian / french dispersion, which is one of the worst battleship dispersion formulas for battleships. So, they are fairly inconsistent guns as a result. Still, if the guns behave, they are pretty mean, as they have a lot of penetration for 15 in guns, on par with some of the best penetration for tier VIII battleships. They also have the best damage for 15 in guns for the tier as well. The gun handling is at least not total crap, as they have 30 sec 180° rotation time, which is above average for most BBs. The forward gun angles are decent too, at 31°, but her rear angles are worse at 40°.
Speaking off, the armor is fairly good at a first glance, with 45mm deck, 70mm deck sides, and a fairly small superstructure which has extra protection from her 90mm dual purpose guns 40mm barbettes and the conning tower. The citadel is slightly above water, but it is not a turtleback, so you WILL get punished for being broadside, considering the armor is 375mm + 40mm of armor or protection. The 40mm inner plate is not overmatchable at least, which is a small plus. At least, compared to the tech tree Tier IX and Tier X that have 25mm plates under their turtleback.
She also gets points for good concealment for her tier, being among the best, at 13.39km base, 11.7km max.
Overall, she's... a tough and sneaky nut to crack, unless she shows broadside. The guns themselves are a massive dirce roll each time, and kind of suck. When they behave though, usually at range, they are amongst the best 15in guns at tier VIII.
Oh and Roma is voiced by Yui Kondou.
Oh wait. This supposed to be Littorio. Whoops. Then that would be Shizuka Itou that voices her. And Yes, if you didn't know, this is for all intensive purposes SHOULD be AL Roma. The simple version of this is that the Vittorio Veneto class all had striking unique features that set them apart at a glance. There was a controversy a while ago about AL Littorio literally being Roma with a skin, as if you demout the camo, the Roma nameplate is still there. Same goes for our Tech Tree Vittorio Veneto, as it is too, just Roma. In fact, the upcoming Spanish Tier IX premium Victoria will be the first version of Roma that is somewhat different. But honestly, it doesn't count.
TLDR: It's a freaking Tier VIII BB on 80% off. Get it while it's hot I guess. Besides that, she has poor gun handling and accuracy, but strong armor (when angled), and good concealment.

2024.05.16 22:52 Wild-Snow-1842 Forerunner 645 upgrade to 955? and why did getting an Edge 540 screw up my training metrics?

I currently have a Forerunner 645 that my girlfriend got me as a gift in 2020 and I have been pretty happy with it so far, however as I start using it more and more I feel like it lacks some features that I would like. Additional, after purchasing an Edge bike computer, my training metrics don't seem to respond to runs the same way they used to and no longer make sense.
My use case for the watch:
What I don't like:
My problems since getting the Edge 540:
Would a forerunner 955 be a meaningful upgrade and solve some of these complaints? Or is it just another expensive gadget. I am interested in the 955 over the 965 since it cheaper and I don't see a need for a AMOLED screen. I haven't been super impressed with the Edge 540, I mostly bought it for race navigation, but in general I find the map interface hard to read and unintuitive. The added "features" to my Garmin connect have been more confusing than helpful. I am wondering if a new watch will make the added features more useful.

2024.05.16 18:01 Sikorsky99 Where to get consumer tips / nozzles

I have a consumer grade pressure washer - 1.2 GPM, 2500 PSI, electric - and I lost the 15 degree nozzle.
Amazon has a ton of replacement nozzles but they are all for 2.5 GPM or greater pressure washers. Doing the math, I think I need a 1.6 orifice, but everything online is way, way bigger.
This can't be right - I assume there are a lot more electric pressure washers in homeowners garages than there are gas ones in workmen's shops or trucks. So... what's the deal with replacement tips? Will any 1/4" adapter tip work? Why is amazon not listing tips with an orifice < 2.0? Why is home depot selling electric pressure washers, but not replacement tips for them?
I can't be the only person to lose these little things, can I?
