2024.06.02 09:22 magicsk00lbusdropout To you: how do you expect to become a competent medical professional when you don’t bother to help your peers?

Made a post yesterday because I was feeling stressed for upcoming exams and asked for study advice that I can apply in the future to help me improve retention of information and efficiency. I was in disbelief when I read the appalling responses I got. The replies were filled with condescending mockery and absolutely no useful information or advice. To the people who replied with nothing constructive to add and instead made remarks about the tone and manner through which I expressed myself, do you really think you are going to become a competent and successful medical professional? How do you expect to achieve anything in your life with no compassion, no critical thinking skills or the simple willingness to help your peers? Despite the rigorous selection process, admissions have failed once again and spots have been handed out to people who deserve it the least. I hope you take the time to reflect (something you’ve probably never done!) and touch some grass instead of taking stabs at a stranger on the internet who is genuinely asking for help. 😊
To anyone who is actually willing to help, what study advice would you offer? Generally I learn the content by watching my lectures and taking notes, and then doing practice questions but after about a week or so I struggle to retain the information. What helps you remember things and what’s the most efficient way to achieve this? Thanks in advance!

2024.06.02 09:21 Greenternet First gout flare, even after changing my lifestyle to a healthy one. Please advice.

Hi all, I never thought gout would have flared up for me but unfortunately it did. So some background for context, I'm a male 34, South East Asian, and all my life I have never got a gout attack. I was a heavy drinker for the last 10-15 year during my college and most of my working life. So I took the plunge exactly a year ago and gave up drinking. I mean I went cold turkey. After this I had done a blood test ,a year ago to see my blood levels evrything was fine except for my total billirubin at 1.73 and my uric acid just above at 7.4. which was not a big concern as I thought it would go down due to my alcoholic lifestyle change.
Fast-forward to a few days back, I had a gout flare on the joints of my feet when I got up in the morning and realised something was wrong. I got my blood test done and my total billirubin shot up to 2.4 and the cut of is actually 1.3 and my uric acid was at 7.6. so I visited my doctor and he told me to get an abdominal scan, which I did and voila there was the fatty grade 1 liver problem. So my doctor went through the blood report and the report showed that all my enzymes were in check and further there was a standard deviations with the total billirubin. So he has now prescribed me 2 meds, one is allopurinol 100mg twice a day for a week to reduce my uric acid below 7 and Silybon Forte for my liver problem to reduce my billirubin levels , twice a day for 10 days. So I started the meds last night and to my surprise my leg flare pain has gone down to prob a 2 after the first episode and weirdly my knuckles started to hurt on both hands in the morning with a pain level of probably 5-6.
I'm not sure now what to think because as one joint pain stopped the another started which feels weird, but I will complete the course that my doctor has given me.
I have heard that allopurinol does star flares for some people.
Now the question is , what do I do about this and it's really not a nice thing to get up in pain. I have now cut out meat , between I ate a lot of red meat during the last year, and started to have lots of veggies lentils and Indian food non spicy with all their spices for inflammation and taste. Further I have been doing yoga every other day. Tbh I'm a little scared to continue with the meds if more flares turn up but what other options do I have then. I have to finish the course to see if it works right.
I wanted to know what has helped this community out there in mitigating this pain and what lifestyle changes have helped in stopping the uric acid build up and regulating the flares. Any help and support would be greatly appreciated.

2024.06.02 09:21 sodumbfounded Was I (F29) emotionally abused by my ex husband (M35)? Or more?

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, so please let me know if there's a better sub for this, but I wanted to ask for multiple different opinions on this because I've been so confused about it. I might still be in denial? Hold on tight, this one is a doozy. And I'll probably delete it after a couple days or so.
So I was in an online relationship with this man for a couple years until we met in person in 2016, then married in 2019. I'm counting all 7 years as the whole relationship, but we were only married for 1. Some background information about him is he was abused as a kid. By his dad physically, and by his neighbor (SA). Now he was also in an accident involving a semitruck, which ruptured a couple disks in his back I believe? And this is why he told me he smoked marijuana. For his back, for medical reasons. I was ok with that. It was whatever. None of this seemed to truly bother him, so he seemed pretty easy going.
Fast forward to the marriage. (For informational purposes related to the story, I'm christian and don't believe in living with a man before marriage so I was unaware of a lot.) About 3 months in, he stops doing the marijuana and things go downhill fast. He only stopped because he knew I never really liked him smoking, but again, I was fine with it because his was for medical reasons. I told him this. He didn't want to smoke it again. Okay.
He starts taking up drinking instead to dowse the pain (he never went to the doctor for it and refused), but then some other issues started rising. He told me he wasn't drinking much, but I'd find empty bottles of alcohol stuffed into the couch, under the bed, behind the dresser, etc. It just didn't add up to the amount of times I saw him drinking. I told him we couldn't afford his alcohol, he kept buying it anyway.
Another point: I was the only one working and paying bills majority of the time. He couldn't hold a job and stayed home doing nothing I guess. No cleaning, no anything. I didn't know it was going to be like this before we got married. He seemed like he knew his priorities with saving money and getting bills paid and keeping things organized. That's what he told me anyway. But everything was always a mess when I got home and I was the only one making sure anything got paid.
Anyways, he also said he started seeing this... demon figure? Or something. In our apartment. It bothered him and freaked him out. I never saw it, but he'd sometimes see it in the closet or going from room to room or in the corner, and he even told me its name was Seth. One time we were arguing and he yelled out BEHIND me to "SHUT UP." And... to clarify... he made sure I knew he wasn't talking to me, but the thing behind me. There was no thing behind me. It was just us. So that periodically was happening through this entire ordeal.
Now when he started drinking, he started having these "episodes." They happened maybe once a week, once every other week? He seemed to get really frustrated about his past or something related to it, and he'd get so angry. So angry that he'd start punching things like the wall. And during these episodes he seemed like a completely different person. I NEVER saw anything close to this side of him before marrying him. Nobody warned me of this. None of his family. I didn't know what was going on. I'm not even sure if his family knows??? He just went on a rampage. I just tried my best to console him quietly for the longest time until he seemed somewhat normal again. Then he was ok in the morning again. These episodes only seemed to happen at night. Over the course of the next few months, these episodes only got more frequent to the point where they were happening pretty much every night (I think the alcohol just helps trigger it along) and more aggressive. I stayed around each time to try and calm him down, but it never really worked. So I just ended up losing sleep over it in the long run.
I mentioned several times that we/he should see a therapist or counseling or something, but he refused. He told me he was fine and that all he needed was me. He didn't believe in therapy... which sucked for me because he needed it majorly.
During these months while he was jobless, he'd find some way to fracture his fingers, whether it be punching a wall, or just... hitting something? Idk. I legit can't count how many times he had to put his fingers in splints. Idk if he was accident prone, or if he REALLY wanted to get out of finding a job, liked being the victim and getting me to feel sorry for him (which I did a LOT), or all of the above. He needed babying a lot, let me just say. When I said he needed a job to help me with the bills, he wanted me to come with him to this temp ageny place I went to to get a job, so I agreed. But every time I came home from work and asked to go, he said "tomorrow," or "next week." Always coming up with excuses of not feeling good or he fractured another finger, or something. Idk.
(Warning, sexual topic here) Another thing was happening during these months as well. During my sleep, he'd finger me in my sleep (and then proceed to try to put himself in me). At like 1am, when I had to get up at 4:30am to go to work and needed sleep (keep in mind, all his nightly episodes were ALSO happening still, so 1am is probably not too long after I ACTUALLY went to sleep. He kept me up a lot). I told him no several times but he wouldn't stop. This happened multiple times. I was exhausted. His excuse? "You were wet." Yes, because my body naturally reacted to stimulation. It took maybe 5-10 minutes or so until he gave up.
(More sexual topic) Whenever we DID have sex was fine. But obviously there were times where he wanted it and I didn't, and when I did and he didn't. The issue came when he wanted it and I didn't. If I said no, I had to say no several times. And eventually he'd stop. Everything. Stop cuddling, stop talking, stop everything, turn his back to me and just... lay there silently. The cold shoulder. Idk what else to call this but it seriously hurt. I didn't treat him that way. If he didn't want to, I'd accept it and stay cuddling. Over time this really messed with my thinking on whether or not he really loved me or just wanted to use me as a live in sex doll.
I made all the excuses in the book for his actions. His past abuse for one. I guess I felt like he needed me? Or I couldn't leave him? Idk.
There was one night where I stayed up for 5 hours straight, from 10pm to 3am, trying to stop him from punching holes in the walls. I stayed up trying to help him so often, it wore me out to the point where sex was off the table completely for aboouutt the last 4 months of our marriage I believe. I was drained mentally and physically. Frankly I was losing my emotional attachment to him. Then he started claiming I was cheating, because I didn't want sex with him, so I had to be "getting it from somewhere." Lol I went to work and came home. What cheating?
Also, suicidal thoughts. He had those too. He'd say things like "I don't deserve you. I'm better off not here. You deserve so much more. I'm a failure." frequently. I reassured him every time. Eventually I got tired of this too.
Towards the end I was speaking seriously with him. I bluntly told him things would need to change and he'd need a therapist or I'd be divorcing him. And I wouldn't throw that word around if I didn't mean it. I was on my last straw because I couldn't help him and he was dragging me down into depression avenue too and making me lose tons of sleep on top of everything. He didn't take my words seriously.
The last night that made me leave was the worst. Now, it started off with me going to bed because I had work in the morning. He wanted sex again. Surprise surprise. I said no, I need to sleep. He went quiet for a minute. My anxiety went up because I felt like something was going to happen, and sure enough....... he suddenly pops off the bed and says he can destroy his Pokémon cards to prove his love. What kind of insanity is that?
Firstly, this is the 3rd time he'd attempt to destroy his cards. Secondly, I knew how much they meant to him so I stopped him from doing that both times before. Thirdly, haha these were original Pocket Monster backed cards. Yay. Fourth... I didn't give a crap anymore and let him destroy them. He took them out of the closet and to the bathtub. He just submerged them all in water. I finally got out of bed and went "here we go again..." and went to go watch him so he wouldn't hurt himself. Idk. I couldn't stop him. I was dead tired.
After he successfully ruined all the cards, it's like a switch flipped and he was suddenly yelling "what did I do?!?!" Over and over again. He was in the tub with the cards and was throwing the cards up in the air. He was angry with himself.
This was around 12am. He decides to throw the cards in a trash bag and take them out to the dump at the front of the complex... now. Like he couldn't wait. (I also want to mention I hated when he stayed up later than I did because he always forgot to lock the doors even if I reminded him, so I always felt like I had to stay up. I woke up one morning with our porch door just... open. Not even closed. I couldn't trust it after that.) He also mentioned offing himself again, and then stuffed one of our glocks in his pocket while taking the bag (yes, stupid to have guns in this situation, I know). He claimed it was for protection while he went to the trash. While I believed that, I wasn't going to chance anything, so I managed to get the gun from his pocket and unload it. Then I quickly stashed it next to mine on my side of the bed.
Obviously he wanted to get it back, so I was wrestling him the whole way. Managed to keep him from it, so he got angry and punched the wall behind me, causing his knuckles to bleed. (This triggered me because by this point, I already cleaned up his blood numerous times before. Walls and my shirt because he flung his hand and it sprayed both) So I start crying and asking to take him to the bathroom to clean him up so I don't have to clean up anything else. I was tired, I wanted to go to bed and sleep so I could just get up for work. He refused, but I managed to push him there. Where... he proceeded to fling his hand and the blood splattered across the bathroom wall instead. sigh
This is when we hear a knock at the door and "POLICE." The neighbors called in domestic violence on us because we were so loud. I never had any run ins with police, so I got scared to open the door, but he opened it. I stood beside him. I had blood on my shirt from him pushing me aside and he had blood on him obviously. It didn't look good.
The police asked if they could come in and it was like another switch flipped in my ex's head (because he never acted like this around anybody else but me) so he started acting almost normal again instead of whatever his hysteria was. He told them it was completely fine and they didn't have to come in. But in that moment, my ex scared me so bad by that one flip of his personality that I told the police to come in. I was just glad to be able to speak to someone sane.
When they questioned us, they quickly realized I was the only one capable of answering their questions coherently and spoke with us separately. Eventually it ended with them waiting for me to gather my things and walking me out to my car so I could drive to my parent's house. Meanwhile my ex legit told the police "it's your fault we're separating." And I just told him that it wasn't, and walked out.
He later claims the police had to hold him back from going after me but I never saw this and don't know how true it is after his lies. He lied about his bills to me over the phone when we were still online dating. He also held back information about "almost sleeping with a random woman" when we were online dating. They "got naked" and "didn't do anything" and claims he didn't know we were dating at the time, but still felt guilty about it and told me about it after we got married?? Idk. And I still forgave him on the spot. Maybe that stuff doesn't matter so much, but still. Yes, I got tested. Clear.
I never went back. I was too scared. I still don't know what to make of it to this day because a lot of things were nonsense (a lot of craziness still left out, but this was the main stuff). I realize his past may play a major part of this, but I still feel messed up from it. (Yes I probably need to go to a therapist myself, but I've also doing forms of positive self therapy exercises as well for the time being until I can actually go. I'm MUCH happier now, don't worry.)
What are your opinions on this, if you actually made it this far? I'm just struggling to call it abuse maybe because he was abused himself? Or was this even abuse? What are your outside perspectives on it?
Tl;dr: Abused ex husband becomes enraged at night, punching holes in walls, causing me to lose sleep and sanity.

2024.06.02 09:21 Emergency_Field2309 Passed PMP first time

I received my exam results and I passed with AT, AT, AT. I had my exam on Friday morning and received the results yesterday afternoon. The exam was really hard and I honestly thought I failed. The questions were very long, vague and there were always 2 options that seemed to be the correct ones so you really need to understand the mindset in order to pick the correct option. There were about 5 drag and drop questions which were fairly easy, about 3 questions where I had to choose more options and the rest situational. No calculations and not that many definitions to answer.
I did SH, DM’s Udemy course and his videos on Youtube. Also checked Third3Rock Notes which helped me refresh definitions and the mindset. A lot of people say SH is the closest to the exam, but I really felt the exam questions were harder and more vague. You really need to know what the question wants from you, where exactly you are in the process and what is the first thing you need to do usually. I would recommend checking DM videos on how he answers questions and understand his flow which you will be able to apply to the exam.
Another thing I see people talking around here is about the contact hours and saying to fast forward the course and just go and do practice questions. While I agree that practice helps the most, I don’t agree with skipping training material. You really need to understand all definitions and processes and DM’s course really does a good job. I know it takes longer, but I would really recommend taking the videos seriously and taking notes along the way. It will be way easier to understand and answer questions by knowing the notions and definitions.
What helped me a lot is to apply common sense and logic combined with the PM mindset. Thanks to the community here for always being active, it was really helpful!
I took the exam online and had no issues besides my phone blasting in the middle of the exam because of an emergency weather alert. When that happened, I messaged the proctor and told them about what was happening and everything was alright. Other than that, I spoke with them one time in the beginning and that was it. No other issues with them or the exam. Took both breaks to drink water and use the toilet and finished 10 minutes earlier. Be sure to be well rested with a clear mind. I went for a run before the exam as it puts me in a focus zone afterwards.
If anyone has any questions regarding the exam or so, let me know. I will try to help and answer.

2024.06.02 09:21 Hefty_Stop4485 30M - listing on behalf of my partner 31F

Hi everyone,
My partner and I went to a wedding in India at the start of April for two weeks, however towards the end of the first week my partner started waking up super early to go to the toilet to release her bowels. She’s not had any sickness or vomitting.
She was getting up at silly hours 3am/4am every morning and this has continued until this very day, she wakes up at like 3am to release her bowels and is then unable to sleep, she also has excruciating pain on her ovaries, to which she describes the feeling as a stabbing like feeling.
We’re really lost at what to do, we’ve been to the doctors in the UK and they’ve been pretty useless, all they’ve taken is a stool sample and said it’s normal.
We’re concerned that it’s now week 8/9 and it’s still happening.
One thing my partner tried was a colon cleanse which briefly helps for like a day before the pain and early wake ups return, we think we need to ask for blood tests and a colonoscopy or something to find out what’s happening…
If anyone has any helpful suggestions please list it in the comments!! As another bit of information she had a tiny tiny amount of endometriosis cut out in 2022 but it was incredibly small, which we don’t believe is causing this.
Happy to answer any other questions!

2024.06.02 09:19 mjobby ,Has anyone tried a Vagus Nerve Stimulation device (Nurosym or Pulsetto etc) instead or in addition to say yoga or breathwork for vagus nerve stimulation? or maybe a TENS machine to help? - i saw a lot of posts in medical forums at how it can help, and then found some trauma research, hence my ask

.I am basically asking about the subject line, and i am mindful there are non invasive methods, that we see mentioned on these fora all the time, and i think somatic experiencing, and yoga, and calming breath are methods under that banner of Vagus Nerve Stimulation device, but the devices seem to offer another lense?. ,
My fear is, i am not sure how it can resurrect safety in a controlled manner, as i know breathwork or TRE can be too much for many nervous systems.
My question is still to see if anyone here has any experience of these devices
Anyway, here are some links for a bit more context:
Psychology today - vagus never stimulation reduces fight or flight
" Today, a new study (Bretherton et al., 2019) from the University of Leeds reports that self-administered non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) via the outer ear—performed for 15 minutes daily for two weeks at home—boosted "rest and digest" parasympathetic activity and reduced "fight or flight" sympathetic activity in a cohort of adults 55+ years old. "
Academic article - testing using a vagus never stimulation device
" In conclusion, this study has provided novel findings about neural responses to nVNS while listening to personalized, emotionally stressful trauma scripts. We have demonstrated profound effects of nVNS in blunting the upregulation of neural responses elicited by trauma scripts. These effects were observed during all three exposures to trauma scripts in a pattern which may suggest that cervical nVNS decreases activity during both scene reconstruction and subsequent adverse emotional responses. We believe that future studies employing nVNS to enhance fear extinction as a treatment for PTSD or other emotional affective disorders might be fruitful."

2024.06.02 09:12 marktwain-go Applying with vet school qualifications?

Starting my second semester of college I knew I wanted to practice medicine, so I majored in fisheries and wildlife with a concentration in pre-veterinary studies. (3.75 science gpa, 3.64 overall, 1300+ hours clinical veterinary experience, have yet to take the MCAT). Now I have a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife, and torn between applying medicine to humans or animals as a career. I love animals, but as I’ve aged I’ve also come to love humans just as much— if not more. I am not dismissing practicing animal medicine, but I have a question…. Is it worth it to pursue osteopathic human medicine EXPERIENCE and training for the MCAT after already receiving a bachelor’s in an animal field and while waiting to hear back from vet schools? I guess I’m asking, am I disillusioned to explore the human medical field via shadowing and human clinical experience at this point? What do I really need to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine? My science gpa is biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, histology, genetics, and physics. I didn’t pay much attention to general education unfortunately.

2024.06.02 09:10 Educational_Ad_5728 Anyone have experience with Audiology equipment?

I recently was hired as a BMET after working as a DME and entry level biomed tech for about 6 years.
My manager and team lead have been discussing enrollment for training and certifications especially ones that pertain to the equipment I am actively working with. As it stands I work with several clinics and multiple have audiology equipment that falls in my queue. All of this equipment I have to contact a vendor to come out and calibrate/PM. I mentioned to my manager and lead about starting to do those in house to cut out the vendor to save time, cost, turnaround, and on time completion. It seems though that no one is sure what that entails and where to go to obtain any kind of official certification or training.
So my question is does anyone else service audiology equipment? If so what kind of certification or training have you received and what sort of test equipment is required?

2024.06.02 09:09 teabagandwarmwater Muslim girls marrying non-Muslim men... a CALAMITY of Unimaginable Proportions

by Asma bint Shameem
A new kind of calamity has hit the muslim world especially those living in non-Muslim lands.
Our muslim girls are marrying non-Muslim men and nobody seems to care!
This is happening left and right...in families that are practicing muslims and in families that are not so practicing.
Is that really allowed?
What does Islaam say about that?
Let's take a look.
🍃Allaah says:
وَلَا تُنكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنُوا
"And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikoon till they believe (in Allaah Alone)" (Surah al-Baqarah :221)
Here Allaah is telling us directly...clear and straight.
"Do not give your daughters to non Muslim men."
Simple as that. The Order couldn't be more straightforward or clearer.
🍃In the tafseer of this aayah, at-Tabari said:
"What Allaah, Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala means in this verse is that He has forbidden believing women to marry a mushrik (polytheist) of any type. So do not, O Muslim men, give them (Muslim women) in marriage to them (mushrikeen), for that is forbidden to you."
(Tafseer at-Tabari, 4/370)
🍃And Al-Qurtubi said:
"And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikoon" means do not give a Muslim woman in marriage to a mushrik. The ummah is unanimously agreed that a mushrik should not marry a believing woman under any circumstances, because that undermines Islam." (Tafseer al-Qurtubi (3/72)
🍃Al-Baghawi said:
"And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikoon till they believe (in Allah Alone)" - there is consensus on this point: it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a mushrik man."
🍃In another aayah, Allaah says:
"O you who believe! When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them, Allaah knows best as to their Faith. Then if you ascertain that they are true believers, send them not back to the disbelievers, they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them." (Surah al-Mumtahinah :10)
Here Allaah is directly addressing us as believers.
"O you who believe..."
Isn't that you and me?
Yes, it is.
WE claim to believe.
So pay attention.
Our Rabb is calling out to you and me and telling us straight up that disbelieving men are NOT LAWFUL for believing women.
🍃Regarding this aayah, Ibn Katheer said:
"Allaah says: "they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them". This verse is the one which prohibited Muslim women to mushrik men."
(Tafseer al-Qur'an al-'Azeem, 13/521)
It's as simple as that. No ifs and buts about it.
🔴 Such a marriage is NOT valid!
That's because one of the conditions of a valid Islaamic marriage is that the man should be Muslim.
If a muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man, this marriage is NOT A marriage in the eyes of the Shari'ah.
This woman is making a grave error and is guilty of committing zina!
May Allaah protect us.
🍃Statement of the Islamic Fiqh Council regarding this matter:
"Marriage of a kaafir to a Muslim woman is haraam and is not permissible, according to scholarly consensus, and there is no doubt about that because of what is stated in the shar'i texts." (Fataawa Islamiyyah (3/231)
🍃Just look at the rulings on such a woman!
"If a Muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man, knowing the ruling thereon, then she is a zaaniyah and is subject to the hadd punishment for zina.(Ya Allaah!!!)
If she was unaware of the ruling, then she is excused, but they must be separated, with no need for talaaq (divorce), because the marriage is invalid in the first place."
(Islamqa)
Astaghfirullaah!
Do we need any more proof than this?!
🛑 Should I go to such a wedding if I'm invited?
NO we should not be going to such a wedding that's not valid in the sight of Allaah.
If we take part in something that's haraam, then we're indirectly condoning that haraam.
In fact this is cooperating in sin and transgression, which itself is a sin.
🍃 Allaah says:
"And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression" (Surah al-Maa'idah :2)
🛑 What should I do?
Part of our being a Muslim is to enjoin the good and forbid the evil.
So here's what we can do depending on the situation.
  1. If it's possible, go talk to the parties involved and help the man to understand and accept Islaam and say the Shahadah. That is the best scenario.
  2. If he does not want to become Muslim, then explain to them how this marriage would not be valid and try to talk them out of it.
  3. If they don't listen and still want to carry on with this adulterous relationship then simply DO NOT attend this so-called 'wedding' and be devastated about it in your heart. But at least you did your job.
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
"Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart [by at least hating it and believing that it is wrong], and that is the weakest of faith." (Muslim)
🛑 But I love the man!
Many sisters 'think' they 'love' the non-Muslim man and they can't live without them.
Dear sister, this just a trick of the Shaytaan.
This so-called 'Love' for a non-Muslim man will destroy your dunya and Aakhirah, UNLESS he accepts Islaam and sincerely becomes Muslim.
Just think about it!
If the marriage is against the orders of Allaah, how can their be Khair in it?!
How can their be peace, love and happiness in it?!
How can there be ANY Barakah in it if you'll displease Allaah?!
Actually, it's better for you to marry a SLAVE who's Muslim rather than marry a free man who's not a Muslim.
🍃Allaah says:
And verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater), even though he pleases you. Those (Al-Mushrikoon) invite you to the Fire, but Allaah invites (you) to Paradise and forgiveness by His Leave"
(Surah al-Baqarah :221)
🍃Imam al-Tabari said:
What is said concerning the interpretation of the words "And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikoon till they believe (in Allaah Alone) and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater), even though he pleases you" is that what Allaah meant by that is that Allaah has forbidden the believing women from marrying to a mushrik, no matter what kind of shirk he believes in. So, O believers, do not give your daughters in marriage to them, for that is forbidden to you. For you to give them in marriage to a believing slave who believes in Allaah and His Messenger and that which he brought from Allaah is better for you than to give them in marriage to a free mushrik even if he is of noble descent and honourable origins, even if you like his descent and background...
🛑 But then, why are Muslim MEN allowed to marry a woman of the People of the Book?
First of all, when Allaah and His Messenger have ordered us something there's no arguing about it or any other way around it.
We have to listen and obey.
🍃Allaah says:
"It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error" (Surah al-Ahzaab :36)
So if we are believers, we obey.
That's what BELIEVERS do.
....even if they don't understand it.
Just obey.
No questions asked.
THAT is true submission to Allaah.
THAT is Islaam.
🍃 Allaah says:
"The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allaah (His Words, His Orders) and His Messenger to judge between them, is that they say: 'We hear and we obey.' And such are the prosperous ones (who will live forever in Paradise).
And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger, fears Allaah, and keeps his duty (to Him), such are the successful ones"
(Surah an-Noor :51-52)
Even if there were no other reasons, and no other explanations except this one, that would be ENOUGH for us as Muslims to obey Allaah's Command.
But for those who want further explanation:
As Muslims we believe Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aalaa is al-Hakeem, al-'Aleem, the Most-Wise, the Most-Knowledgable.
There is a reason for everything He does. And He knows better.
Allaah has allowed the Muslim man to marry a woman who's a Christian or a Jew and NOT ALLOWED a Muslim woman to marry a nom-Muslim man because of several reasons:
A) The man is in a position of leadership over the woman, and it is not allowed for a non-Muslim to be in a position of leadership over a Muslim woman.
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
"Islam prevails and is not prevailed over." (al-Daaraqutni and others -hasan by al-Albaani)
B) Allaah tells us in the Qur'aan that men are 'qawwaam' over their wives, meaning they're in charge.
The husband is the leader or head of the household and his status within the family is higher than that of his wife.
Because of this higher position, if a muslim woman were to marry a non-Muslim man, the husband would influence his wife in a negative way and make her leave her Deen or at least be very lax about it.
He would not be helping her to obey Allaah and in fact he would be an impediment in doing that. And would be an obstruction between her and Jannah.
C) The higher status of the husband will also influence the children to follow their father's religion, which would be nothing short of a DISASTER for the family, if these children grow up to be non-Muslim.
🛑Conclusion
Faith is not just words, my sister, unless it's accompanied by ACTIONS.
If Allaah has prohibited Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men, even if they're from the People of the Book, then we have to submit to that order and accept it without any qualms about it.
Allaah's Guidance is the best guidance and His Way is the best way.
Alhamdulillaah.
رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا ، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا ، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولًا
"I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) as my Prophet"
And Allaah knows best.

Very few Canadian gaming sites can compare to SkyCrown’s game-rich library. At the time of writing this SkyCrown review, we counted over 7,000 games from leading game developers such as Netgame, Gamebeat, BGaming, Mascot, and more.

Below are the game categories:

Slots

As expected, slot machines are the main offerings at this casino. You’ll find so many real money slots from BGaming, Reflex Gaming, Gamingcorps, and other software developers. The slots are available in varying categories, including Bonus Buy, Megaways, Books, Mythology, Expanding Wilds, and more. This should help you find your preferred slot machines easily.

Jackpots

SkyCrown has hundreds of jackpot slots to play if you’re after those extra-large jackpot wins. Some trending jackpot titles include Fortune Circus by Fugaso, Fortune Dreams by Lucky, Gold of Maya by Gamzix, and more. Games with progressive jackpot networks have a “JP” banner.

Table games

If you feel like taking a little break from slots, we advise you to check out their wide selection of table games. You’ll find numerous titles and variations for Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, and Poker. They also offer several Andar Bahar, Pai Gow, and Craps titles.

Instant games

Instant or arcade games have become fan favorites due to their fast-paced and rewarding gameplay. You’ll find several crash games, including Spribe’s Aviator, Aero by Turbogames, JetLucky 2 by Gamingcorps, and more. You’ll also find Plinko, Mines, and Dice titles.

Live casino

Live dealer games provide a unique table game experience in a real casino setting. SkyCrown ensures this by offering 300+ live dealer games from ALG, Bombay Live, Better Live, and TVBET. Sadly, we didn’t find any live titles from Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play Live.

Must Play Games at SkyCrown Casino

We understand that finding the best titles to play can be time-consuming and confusing. So we have done all the hard work to help you settle in quickly with these five titles:

SkyCrown Bonanza – BGaming

This is one of those custom-made slots you can only play at SkyCrown Casino. It’s a highly volatile slot designed by BGaming to offer a classic fruit-themed experience with an explosive 15,000x win potential. It delivers a simple design with relaxing music and bright icons to make it stand out from other fruit machines on this gaming site.

Sun of Egypt 3 – 3oaks

Launched in 2023, Sun of Egypt 3 is the third installment of this popular slot series. It’s a highly volatile slot that maintains the tradition of bringing the rewarding Hold and Win Jackpot and a decent 10,000x win potential. To boost your chances of collecting the jackpot, this game will reward you eight free spins after landing enough scatters with a retrigger option. You’ll also find a wild symbol that pays 12x the stake.

Vikings Go Berzerk – Yggdrasil

Despite launching in November 2016, this slot machine from Yggdrasil has maintained its position as one of the best Viking-themed slots. In this game, you’ll accompany brave and daring Vikings in their mission to fill up the rage meter and collect rewards. This game packs fun bonus features, including the Treasure Chest, Free Spins, and a 4,000x jackpot.

Story of the Samurai – Spinomenal

Story of the Samurai is a 2021 slot that takes you to challenge the Samurai warriors and claim big wins. It’s an exciting 5×3 slot packed with bonus features like Bonus Wheel, Mystery Symbols, Free Spins, Expanding Wilds, and Sticky Wild Respins. This game also has a friendly RTP potential of 96.71%.

Aviator – Spribe

If you haven’t played this instant game by Spribe, then you’re missing out. Launched in 2019, this game has become trendy among players due to its reliability and simplicity. The propeller airplane will take off, creating a multiplier curve representing your possible winnings. The sound effects of this game are also classy and relaxing. Enough said already!

Payment Methods Available at SkyCrown Casino

Banking is just as important as any other service an online casino offers. SkyCrown knows this, hence providing a list of 30+ secure banking methods. You can transact using online wallets, credit/debit cards, and cryptocurrencies. The minimum deposit for all payment mediums is $30, whereas the maximum depends on the selected method.
Here is a table to summarize the payment services:
https://preview.redd.it/yn5pv0fcw34d1.png?width=1182&format=png&auto=webp&s=d971b3f030596ebf32891b064dbabf856bd2b9df

Note that you will be subject to a KYC (Know Your Client) process before approving any withdrawal request. This is a standard procedure in all regulated casinos to verify your identity, location, and source of income. You must submit a copy of your identification paper, such as your ID/passport/driver's license, and proof of local address, like a bank statement/utility bill. The verification can take up to 24 hours.

Navigating the Casino: User Experience Unveiled

Everything about this casino oozes simplicity, class, and efficiency. The website is well-designed, using a minimalist and user-friendly approach. They also use an eye-friendly black background and sharp graphics, making it an excellent platform if you value those long gaming sessions.

We encountered no delays when loading up the website’s pages and games. Everything was instant and smooth, with most titles having a demo version. Finding our favourite game titles was also a breeze thanks to the intuitive search tool, although we would have preferred more game filtering options. In short, the developer did a solid job of providing a fulfilling touch when exploring the platform.

Mobile Compatibility

SkyCrown Casino works smoothly and seamlessly on mobile platforms. We tested the site on our Android and iOS smartphones and didn’t experience any disappointing lag or freeze.
As for the gaming difference, the experience is identical on iPhone and Android. You’ll find a menu icon at the top-left side of the screen, allowing you to access services like banking, account verification, loyalty program, and more. Below the menu, you’ll find game categories like Slots, Live Casino, New, Hot, and Jackpots. All in all, the mobile version is user-friendly and intuitive.

Safety and Security Measures in Place

SkyCrown Casino is a well-protected website with clear privacy policies. They are very transparent and make you aware of all the information they will collect from you. For example, this operator doesn’t rent or sell player data to third parties and is bound by strict legal provisions to protect your private data.
We can confirm that SkyCrown uses 128-bit SSL encryption technology from Let’s Encrypt. This is the standard data protection measure most Canadian casino sites use to secure your information from hackers and scammers. Another thing, you can set up 2-factor authentication to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
We also did our checks to see if we could find any red flags on platforms like Trustpilot and Reddit. Most bad reviews were about players who couldn’t withdraw funds after failing the KYC test. Provide the requested documents, and you won’t have any payment complaints.

Customer Support

Unfortunately, customer support is an area where SkyCrown Casino needs to improve. As a registered member, we found no live chat support, which is disappointing. Instead, they let you speak to an agent via email at [support@skycrown.com](mailto:support@skycrown.com). You can also complete the online contact form on the “Support” page.
But before contacting the support team, it’s worth checking if your concerns have been addressed on the FAQ page. Here, they list and answer some of the most common questions regarding account registration, payments, safety, bonuses, and more. If you’re new to crypto gambling, there is also a helpful page to read.
You can contact their support team in the following languages:
  • English
  • French
  • German

What's the Verdict?

SkyCrown Casino passes our test of a reliable Canadian gambling site. We love the wide selection of games and the vast variety of bonuses and promotions for new and loyal members. This site also does well in the payments department, providing tens of reliable fiat and cryptocurrency banking methods. And lest I forget, withdrawals via most of these payment mediums are instant, which is rare in the iGaming scene. The only drawback here is the limited customer support options. We give it a solid 4.5/5!

2024.06.02 09:08 teabagandwarmwater Muslim girls marrying non-Muslim men... a CALAMITY of Unimaginable Proportions

by Asma bint Shameem

2024.06.02 09:05 Temporary_House4852 Meeting a Congregation

Hail you all, and hail myself.
I recently made the jump to join TST, and all signs pointed to meeting my local congregation. I finally got the chance today and it was certainly a good time. I was impressed with the genuineness of the people, bordering crass and offensive! Truly cool group. It was nice to feel welcomed, but also "checked at the door". I respect it because I'm pretty forward myself.
But the chance to meet them came from their efforts in hosting a booth at the local Pride event, and I didnt feel it was proper to take up too much of their time with questions during a fun celebration. Our congregation's website doesn't have further info on group activities or meet ups, and only leads to an email to contact our leadership. It seems like it really just consists of merch promotion and sparse events spread out by months at a time.
I'm eager to learn more, and connect with like-minded individuals who can challenge my personal philosophies for mutual growth.
I've seen a lot of online meetings for groups, but I've gotta say, it's a messy start with no clear path on how to become more involved.
Would the group mind sharing their stories of how they undertook the pursuit of knowledge in history and traditions? I could use some hype and direction because I really am eager to grow alongside this group.
If it helps, I actively pursue my own philanthropy through music and Recovery. These people tend to be my tribe, and I am 3 years into a project that I really hope becomes it's own, unaffiliated creative way of giving back to communities that could use the love and support that connecting through music brings to our lives.
I don't want to push my stuff onto others, and would only offer facilitating fun meet ups based on interest from others. How would you guys go about getting to know the members on an individual basis? And where can I begin in truly educating myself on practices and beliefs that go beyond reading the tenets and easily available website information?
Feels like I could have saved myself some headaches if I found this group sooner. You all inspire me to be better every day just by seeing the rational discussions and noble pursuits you undertake in your individual lives. Especially seeing the current strife with the many departures, as a new member. That would have put me off to the church if it weren't for the sheer level of empathy this group practices under stress.

2024.06.02 09:05 IDoWhatIWant2_ Anti-Denominational Ideas

Hello my brothers and sisters! I have been thinking and praying recently about some ideas I have about the way modern American church culture often supersedes the actual Word at times. And have contemplated what I, a very flawed man, believe would be the idea form of church service in my own opinion. Christianity has become, and historically been, split among its members into many different sects and factions. Frankly, it is a part of the human condition to wish to be around others that share your own beliefs. Often these sects, or as they are commonly referred to denominations, have their own cultural practices and traditions that exist alongside of the Word, which can often be dogmatic or even contradictory to the Word. Most often simply extra to the Word. I often find myself questioning these practices or superfluous belief systems found within churches, it personally often doesn’t sit right with me. And I will admit I am biased in my opinions, I am quite Protestant in my beliefs; I often personally dislike the embellishments of Protestant mega churches, Catholicism, and orthodoxy , among others (though I do believe they should worship as they see fit, and am just discussing my own views). And even non-denominational churches typically have the same flavor as other churches in the local area.
I’ve considered what would be my ideal church, one that attempts to get back to the spirit of the early church but also do its own thing. And in that purpose I’ve developed a list, and wanted to know you all’s thoughts on it:
  1. Unprogrammed Services, similar to the way Quakers approach their services where any that feel lead to talk may do so. But different in the sense that people may lead sermons should they wish to, and it is encouraged to do so by all. In order that all within the priesthood of believers share their interpretations and beliefs of the Word. Often in traditional churches we are given information on how we should act or how we should proselytize, but without practice how are we to cement these ideas? Discussion and debate should be encouraged and done in a manner in which people of different beliefs of the Bible are able to sharpen each other. All are welcome
  2. No Head Priest, similarly, there should be no pastor or head priest since we are all priests and saints. None should assume a position of power or increased authority, which we should all share. Often we are very happy to just sit back in our pews and listen without having to assume any responsibility. But as equals and priests we should have equal say and responsibility to our local church.
  3. Deacons and Bishops, 1 Tim. 3:1-13, A deacon and a bishop are the only two official positions in the church. Deacons are servants of the church who are put in charge of activities or responsibilities that require special attention. Bishops or elders, are overseers that ensure the church maintains godly values and oversees the practical functions of the church. Neither deacons or bishops are above any other brother, but rather they only accept on more responsibility. They exist primarily to serve in an ancillary position in order to aid the physical churches needs, not necessarily the spiritual needs any more than anyone else is.
  4. Physical Location Not Needed, a church building is no holier than any other peace of dirt. The world was created by God, and we should worship Him wherever we are. The early church often meet in each other’s homes, and there is something very intimate about worshiping in one of the brother’s or sister’s homes that add to the sincerity of the service. And without a physical location those funds from tithes may be directed elsewhere.
  5. Tithe in Anyway, Let’s face it often at certain churches tithes do not achieve their purpose. Outside of church maintenance, often tithes are spent on pizza or other things at events meant to foster fellowship. Which is good but probably would be best not on the church dime, they are your church family and friends and you can fellowship with them independently. But also time can be an amazing tithes instead of money. Work to better your local church and support your brothers, or volunteer at a local nonprofit organization. Even if it is illegal to feed and cloth the homeless. Again, we are often very happy to sit in our pews without it actually costing us anything. We, myself included, must be willing to give of our time and do unto others giving of ourselves.
Like this is a long post and I appreciate you making in all the way to the end. And I would love to hear your thoughts on my ideas! I love you all and wish you the very best!!!<3

2024.06.02 09:04 socalledmoon Very severe CFS treatments?

My partner (25) suddenly became very severe 2 months ago. Previously (past year) he was mostly bedbound but could talk, be on his phone and watch shows occasionally. The start of his CFS was in 2020 from presumed mono (which has been caught reactivating on a blood test a few years back). His main new symptoms are severe sensory sensitivities (can't tolerate any light/sound and hence can't be on his phone) as well as severe air hunger and high heart rate. He's been on LDN with minimal benefits, and Mestinon which at least has helped him recently eat solid food, but seems to have stopped improving him when he stopped LDN for a week. We found a GP that specializes in ME/CFS that is helping prescribe some meds, but he seems against LDA/antivirals because he thinks they are risky and/or stop working after a bit.
My question is: what meds or other treatments have people tried that have helped with air hunger, which is the most disturbing symptom atm. He's constantly struggling for breath but it doesn't seem like standard hyperventilation (only 9-12 breaths per minute but takes very deep breaths followed by quick exhale ~8s later)?

2024.06.02 09:04 Plus-Possibility-421 Atlas Black - Page 1 [Fantasy/Mystery - 508 words] Would you keep reading??

Hello, just want to see if you read this page, does it pique your interest enough that you'd keep reading. Trying to test some different intros. Thanks!

It was the third village this year. Barely any signs of struggle, houses intact, nothing valuable stolen. Nothing out of the ordinary except for one thing: all the people were gone.
Warden Hyukos stood in the village square, the only signs of movement coming from his men who patrolled the empty streets. The sun was beginning to set and the quiet wood houses cast long shifting shadows on the road, the sound of cicadas buzzing softly in the trees. Though it was a quite pleasant summer evening, making sweat run down his neck into his tunic, he shivered. He didn’t like this one bit.
Someone tapped his shoulder and he nearly jumped out of his skin.
“By the stars, Kyurias, nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“Sorry, sir.”
“Well, what have you to report? Have you found anyone?”
“No, sir.”
“Then what is it?”
“We just received a message from the magistrate.”
“And?”
“It looks like the capital is sending someone to assist in the investigation.”
Damn it, Warden Hyukos thought. The bleeding capital? He’d been investigating these disappearances for nearly a year now, with absolutely nothing to show for it. Not only did it look bad on him, it embarrassed the magistrate, and he wasn’t a man to embarrass. He ran a hand through his hair, which was acquiring more white strands everyday it seemed. He sighed slowly.
“Alright. Who are they sending?”
“Uhm. Well, according to the message, if it can be believed–”
“Just spit it out, who is it? Some minor lord’s hireling?”
“Eo Akami, sir.”
Some spit caught in the warden’s throat and he hacked a cough into his elbow.
“What, the bleeding archmage?”
“Er, according to the messenger, yes.”
“You’re telling me that Eo Akami, the war hero, the bleeding Red Mage, is coming all the way from the capital to the backwoods of the Wild North to help us look for some missing peasants?”
“That’s what he said. Like I was saying, the messenger in question, Junias, has been known to embellish or otherwise exaggerate the importance of his charges, just last week he ran a message from the magistrate’s cook to the local butcher, regarding the procurement of venison, and naturally–”
“Alright, alright, Kyruias, I get the point, don’t need every bleeding detail, do I? Just take me to Junias and I’ll question him myself.”
Kyurias led him down the darkening dirt road, his hand resting on the pommel of his sword. Hyukos pulled a rolled up parchment from his pouch, unraveled it, and placed his left hand on the complex pattern of ink inscribed. The pattern glowed gold and illuminated a 10 foot radius around them. He fastened the glowing parchment to his belt. The messenger was clearly exaggerating. Nobody of import had any interest in the coming and goings of the Wild North, much less an archmage to the king. He was under enough stress lately as it was, and he was in the mind to take it out on this Junias for adding to his increasing supply of white hairs.

2024.06.02 09:04 Ho11ow08 Overnight Patrol Officer

I do not know who else to talk to so I’ve come to you reddit. Roughly a year ago I graduated from police academy and started my first employment in Scottsdale, AZ. I stayed there for about 6 months and then I was transferred to a station in Pima County, where I has practically the same hours as my previous station. About a week ago is was moved to night shift witch wasn’t too hard to adjust to because I live alone. Most of the time I was parked outside of a waste management facility running plates and doing the occasional speeding ticket. I never really talk to anyone much at the station, I like to clock in get my hours in and go home.
One night I was requested to aid in a car-chase, I was pretty stoked because this had never happened before and felt like I was in an action scene from one in 60 seconds. One of my colleagues set out a spike strip to blow his tires, here’s a link to more info on that: https://www.kold.com/2024/01/19/homicide-suspect-caught-tucson-area/. When I went home later that day I found 2 gunshot wounds to my sternum. I was very confused because I did not feel any injury at all.
I must have had too much to drink before work because I kept seeing really weird things that I still can’t quite put together and no cars on the road. But as soon as I go home I’m just fine. It’s almost as if I leave a part of me behind every time I clock in and pick up a new one. Now every time I leave for work and go to my usual station, alone made you, about halfway through my workday, suddenly I have a partner in my passenger seat. Ive never seen this guy at the office and now he is just randomly cracking jokes in my car. His name tag said Erik Hite, I know that name from somewhere but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Same thing happened every day I went into work, you get used to it after awhile. One distinct feature I connect to him is he is not up to date on most things. He said that he was exited for the release of Iron Man 2 which confused and put me off quite a bit.
I asked around at the office if anyone has seen him around before and all of them ignored me and not even acknowledge me, I don’t know if this is some kind of prank or something and if it is its not a good one. The next day when I went into work I noticed he too, had apparent gunshot wounds. When I asked him about them he was confused at the question and said “what do you mean gunshot wounds? I’m as healthy as I’ve ever been!” I knew that he wasn’t messing with me by the way that he said it. Is he in the same situation as I am but just doesn’t realize the gunshot wounds? Or is he in denial of the whole situation?
Earlier this month is got in contact with someone who claimed to be the wife of Erik, Nohemy Hite. I started talking with her over Facebook about her husband, one thing that really weirded me out was that she always used past tense while talking about her husband. This is all the info I have for people guys right now, I will post an update once I find out more. It would be much appreciated if you good people could do more research on the mysterious people I have cited, since I still have an actual life so and I don’t have much spare time for research. All help is appreciated, until next time and you’re never out of the fight.
