2024.05.19 07:01 gummyminn Unlocking Potential: The Importance of Vocational Training at Pehchaan The Street School

“Vocational Education is the education that prepares students with skills that make them employable for certain specific jobs. Traditionally vocational education was looked at in fields such as artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, technicians, etc. Vocational courses give students valuable and hands-on exposure to the real-world applications of things they may or may not have learnt in school. One should also note that Vocational training helps students think about a variety of practical aspects and applications of their education. Vocational education can help students gain deeper context into their learning by being able to relate what is taught in class to their practical applications.”
Pehchaan The Street School believes that for a child to truly grow and educate themselves better one should be open to all forms and ways of learning, which would also give them an idea and knowledge of the real world outside that also requires dealing with the problems smoothly and efficiently. With the learning and education of practical knowledge around them, the children can also contribute to the society and their families in order to earn a living for themselves and also strive to improve their current existing living conditions around them.
Importance of Teaching Children the Important Skills
In the current time, the job market is really competitive and this requires the individuals that posses the skills of excellence and competence both that the companies require and look for in their employees which will therefore enable them to get the jobs that they aim for if they possess the certain skills that are required by companies. Pehchaan The Street School provides training to make sure that the children are ready and competent enough with proper skills to compete in the job market and be ready for the outside world challenges.
Boosting one’s Self Esteem
As much as it is important to be competent and hard working enough to land a good job, Pehchaan The Street School believes that in the absence of good self esteem and confidence it won’t be enough for an individual to truly excel in their life as lack of fluency in communication and languages can make a huge difference. The organization also trains the children in providing them classes that focus on their personality development, and their communication skills while interacting and negotiating with other people.
Team of Hard Working Staff
With a team of hardworking and responsible staff working at the organization , the children are provided with teachers that are sensitive to their needs and also cater to the needs and requirements of each and every child with focus, and the curriculum is also specially designed keeping in mind the needs of each and every child. This would ensure that the children stay attentive in the classrooms and it would in turn lead to an increase in the attention span and lead to better focus among the students. The teachers also ensure that each and every child takes part in the classroom discussions that are organized pretty often to ensure that the class participation is high and that each and every child can come up with their ideas and opinions which could further enhance the creativity among the children. Here learning is done in a very fun and interactive way through different classroom discussions and activities that are organized for the children which will allow them to unleash their hidden potential.
Community Building among Children
Pehchaan The Street School is a large organization, where many children coming from different cultures and backgrounds come together to study and learn new things. This would also foster a sense of unity among the children as they would also be required to work in group activities with their members which would in turn create a safe and respectable environment for each and every child. Not only this, but since the children will be required to work in group settings with each other it would teach them the values and important skill of managing time and meeting with the deadlines and also the important skill of conflict resolution to resolve conflicts if they ever arise among the group members, leading to creating strong friendships among the children and respect and empathy for each other.
Therefore, concluding this discussion we can see that vocational training has many benefits and does not only serve one but many purposes that have been mentioned and discussed above in the sections. It is very necessary for the teaching methods to also include vocational training for the students in order to ensure that they become responsible and well functioning individuals for the society and can also develop themselves.

2024.05.19 07:00 YELLOWFEVERPWR AITAH for not signing my managers birthday card?

AITAH for not signing my managers birthday card?
For context I have been at my current job for awhile and in the beginning I really enjoyed it. About a few months in my manager accused me of something I didn’t do in a highly unprofessional manner and it has been pretty hostile ever since.
Luckily I don’t work closely with my manager and have supervisors that I can speak directly to. Overall the job is still good but when my manager does reach out I can sense hostility so I try to limit contact at all cost.
My manager’s birthday is coming up and there has been a card passed around to all the employees to sign. My coworker found it strange I declined to sign it, although I don’t feel like it’s their business to know why.
I know for a fact my manager don’t care for me so slapping a fake birthday wish and a signature is not going to change their life in anyway.
AITAH for not signing it? I don’t think it will be missed

2024.05.19 06:57 BitRevolutionary6414 UK unpaid parental leave

Have 2 kids under 8 yrs old, employed full time, ~£180k salary, and aware that in the UK:
So for me it’s a no-brainer to take at least 2 weeks per year off unpaid.
Does any one else do this?
Also how does the gov track how much leave you’ve taken over the 18 years?

2024.05.19 06:57 Alfirmitive Constant misgendering at new job

I’ve moved workplaces recently, like about a month ago, my old job was retail, so while I got misgendered by customers constantly, my coworkers at least cared and gendered me correctly 99% of the time. After moving, I love the job itself a lot more, less customer contact which makes me super happy, but I honestly hate most of my coworkers.. I’d say like 3 of them are nice and try to get it right, I found my most unlikely ally in my 50 year old supervisor. But everyone else- it just really feels like they aren’t trying in the slightest. There’s only one girl who even bothers to correct people when she hears others misgender me.
My manager doesn’t get it right, ever, despite me telling her in the interview itself that I’m trans and multiple times afterward, she’s also one of those people who refers to her entire staff as “girls” when there’s multiple cis men who work there, so that feels like shit. I have a consistent problem with the majority of my coworkers where they’ll refer to me in a conversation with “she” and because I’m just so tired at this point I’ve stopped trying to correct people politely and I instead interrupted them multiple times in their sentence with “not she!” And even that does nothing. It’s like they don’t even fucking hear me bc they never even PAUSE their sentence to acknowledge I said anything. I snapped the other day as one girl walked down the hallway telling someone how I needed help, calling me a she in the process, I did my usual calling after her like three times “not she!” And as she kept doing it I just threw what I was holding against the wall and shouted “HOLY FUCK”. Not only am I getting constantly misgendered, but my workplace has hired like three new employees since me (and is continuing to do so as well) and bc THEY keep hearing me get called a she it doubles down and just reinforces the pattern.
I’m so fucking tired y’all. I come home crying to my girlfriend at least twice a week. I love the job itself and it’s a hard one to get into with no experience so I can’t even go to a different establishment of the same type. I’m so fucking done and I don’t know what to do.

2024.05.19 06:49 Pure_Life1222 Lac Mac is run by a clown

Lac-Mac is a horror show run by a real life Beverly Goldberg and her creepy, Norman Bates son. She did what every woman COULD do, but no woman with class, self-respect, and work ethic WOULD do to get ahead. Being vapid, ineffectual, and oblivious, she is the most self-unaware narcissist you will ever meet. She lies, schemes, and cheats customers and employees alike. She is small-town, petty, and mean-spirited. Run. It’s not worth the gaslighting.

2024.05.19 06:44 Necessary-Wall-6446 AITA for walking out of the bridal salon when I found out my friends were making fun of me behind my back?

I have two friends: Gaby and Shelly. All of us are 23, if that matters. We were roommates in college and stayed in the same city after graduation. While the three of us are close, I’ve always known that Gaby and Shelly are the closest. They have a really sweet friendship.
Shelly is getting married. Gaby is the maid of honor and I’m one of the bridesmaids. Over the weekend, I went with Shelly so she could look at wedding dresses. Gaby was supposed to come with us but got called into work last minute. I helped Shelly pick out some dresses then she went with the consultant to try them on. Shelly asked that I take pictures and videos on her phone to send to her mom and Gaby. I was getting the camera ready when a text from Gaby came through. I didn’t mean to click on it and was instantly going to click back out when I saw one of my Instagram pictures in their private chat from earlier that morning. Both were making fun of me for the face I was making and my outfit choice. It didn’t appear to be very good nature.
I admit, curiosity got the best of me so I searched my name in the chat. I found multiple pictures that I, my boyfriend or my mom have posted of myself, absolutely ripping them to shreds. Ranging from selfies to posed shots to even a few baby pictures. They’d also make fun of me in general in terms of the way I talked, wore my hair and the way I ate. This went back as far as I could tell, at least a year.
My heart broke. It all felt so juvenile and high school. While we all joke around, I would never do this to them nor have they ever even tried to instigate these types of conversations with me about the other one on one. I was in tears. As someone who was bullied all through middle and high school, it just brought me back to a horrible place. I put the phone in Shelly’s purse and brought it to another employee, telling her to tell Shelly that I had to go. I drove home and had a long cry.
Shelly texted me by the time I made it home asking where I went. I said I was going home and we could talk later. When she did call a few hours later, she was understandably confused and hurt that I left. I told her what I found, explaining that I only looked further because of the initial text I accidentally saw. She went off on me for looking through her private texts and said those were none of my business. She also told me I shouldn’t have left the store without saying anything. I said I didn’t want to make a scene but also knew I couldn’t fake being happy for her.
Shelly told me the texts were “all in good fun” and clearly she loves me because I’m going to be her bridesmaid. She added that I’m only hurt because I chose to read all those texts. Later on, Gaby called to tell me that I invaded Shelly’s privacy and hurt her by walking out.
My boyfriend and mom think I did the right thing by walking out. But obviously, they’re a little biased. I just want some unbiased looks: was I an asshole to look through the texts and then leave?

2024.05.19 06:19 _Anarchitect Feeling like I do not deserve / am not prepared for new job. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I just landed an amazing project manager job offer that I would be crazy not to take. Compared to my current job that I got out of college (software implementation consulting), it has it all. It’s higher pay (120K vs 87K), less travel, fully remote, and has a better bonus structure. My issue is, I’m not convinced I’m prepared for it. I only have 2 years of experience in my industry and while I think I am very good at the technical side of things I don’t have any project management experience.
The new company also only has ~150 employees compared to the several thousand at the one I am leaving. I’m worried that I won’t stick the landing or that I won’t pick up the new systems as fast as expected. I’m also concerned that my younger age (24) will result in it being harder to be taken seriously in a role with responsibility.
Does anyone else have experience with the initial move to a manangent position? I would love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position or has any advice on how not to cock it up.
Thank you!

2024.05.19 06:04 imallergictogluten Looking for David!!

Hello, this is a long shot but I’m trying to find a long lost friend!! My name is Gabi, I’m a barista at a coffee shop by the name of Bennu down in Austin, Texas. We had a regular by the name of David Bradley who would always come in and get a Scarlet Letter (one of our mochas), who we absolutely adored. We would always have the best conversations, and he was just the most pleasant, kind, and gentle individual. David moved up to Vermont about a year ago (perhaps more?? time flies) due to a family matter, I do not know which town. I deeply regret not asking for any contact info to keep in touch when he said his goodbyes, as he is so deeply loved and missed by our employees. He has no social media presence that I’m aware of, but we’ve discussed Reddit-happenings before. So, here I am trying to find him! If anything- just to tell him we love him, miss him, and wish the absolute best for him
Here is what I know about him: - his name is David Bradley - he graduated from UT Austin - perhaps in his mid to late 30s? - has an amazing red beard - wears glasses! - apparently, according to my coworker, he is a triplet or quadruplet? Maybe it’s just lore. - he is an author of sorts, was working on a piece at the shop when he was here - very into sociopolitical happenings! - would play solitaire and chess on his laptop at the shop - is the most kind, gentle, warm individual
I’ve been thinking of him lots lately for some reason, and just putting this out there eases my thoughts! Any info would be great! Thank you in advance.
David, if you see this: Eric, Elena, Jules, Mychael and I miss you and we looooovveee you!! We hope everything is going well for you in life, because you absolutely deserve the very best it has to offer. Much love, Gabs.

Alright guys. So i just finished my bachelor’s in management here in the UAE, and I’m trying to strategize and or understand the path forward. I have experience in management as I’ve managed a family business for 3 years with around 10-15 employees more or less. I worked in events as well in my free time(that doesn’t do much i know). So I’m looking for advice on how to build a career, where and what to go for, and what to expect.

2024.05.19 05:52 Fluffy-Fly-6761 Is this pregnancy discrimination?

I am nurse and mom of 3. I was following up with my company’s Human Resources department on some applications I paced prior to my recent maternity leave. Positions I felt that I was truly qualified for. These positions would be have been positions of growth for me. I was inquiring as to why I was never even offered an interview as an internal employee for 6 years. And as an employee whom had been activity working to grow myself within the cooperation by taking development classes the company offers, engaging in councils, etc. I was even applying for positions where most of our staff are unwilling to work. But I truly thought I could make a different within the culture of the location. I was working under the direct hiring manager at the time, I informed this manger of my desire to grow as an employee. Just as the company’s development trainings suggested I do. I was told by HR that I was likely not interviewed because I might have been on active maternity leave during the hiring process. HR said it is against our company’s policy for any employees to be contacted while employees are out on medical leave. Not even if we consent to it. And not even if it’s for a position of growth for these employees. I did review our company’s FMLA policy and it does state “team members cannot actively seek to make a job change transfer while on consecutive FMLA leave.” But if I understanding the pregnancy act doesn’t that override this policy? Plus I applied before my maternity began. So I was activity seeking before my maternity leave even began, not while on it.

2024.05.19 05:51 Appropriate_Door_547 Tough love time: You lose the right to be picky about where you work when you lost your last job.

Warning: this is tough love and is gonna come across as harsh. Really harsh. But I say it from a place of love and not wanting to see you all be unemployed for many years holding out for something that will never come.
I see so many posts on Reddit anymore about people who are unemployed over a year, after 1000+ applications, and just can’t get a job. The common denominator is many of these people have non-negotiables like remote work or a certain salary level.
Tough love time: if you are unemployed, you don’t get to have non-negotiables or be choosy about where you work. Non-negotiables are for people with leverage. Seems many people on here have forgotten an incredibly important business rule: beggars can’t be choosers. Unfortunately, hiring decisions are made mostly based on optics & perception, and fair or not, the perception of an unemployed candidate is that of “damaged goods.” It is assumed there is a reason you are not employed. Nobody said this is fair, just, or right, but it’s just the way it is. Very few employers are going to take that risk by hiring you, when every single job has 1000+ applicants, many of which are already employed.
So how do you break the cycle and rebuild your credibility and reputation as a professional? How do you regain the trust of the working world? Simple: you need to be willing to take the jobs nobody else wants.
This almost 100% means going to an office 5 days a week. Perhaps more. You will probably even have to take a pay cut, maybe as high as 20-50%. You might even have to take a step back in title, or pivot to a different field entirely. Construction is one that is known to give people second chances, but you’ll have to work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life.
It seems like the only places hiring new employees are weird/toxic startups and small businesses, so stop focusing on household “name brand” employers. Learn to love working for toxic small businesses with omnipresent owners. Learn to be okay with micromanagers. Cushy corporate jobs are gone forever if you don’t already have one.
Your career progression doesn’t mean much of anything at this point. You need to make money right now even if it means hindering your future career prospects. Think of it like incurring “career debt.”
Before you downvote, I took my own advice. I was flying high in a cushy F500 job. When that all came crashing down, I committed to myself that I would take the very first offer, no matter how bad it was. And I did. And I’ve been miserable ever since. But after losing my job, I learned my place QUICKLY. You learn very fast how much American society values the unemployed (hint: not very much). I took a long look in the mirror and realized I was worth a lot less than I was a month prior, and I settled. But because I did this, I was employed again within the month. Companies similar to the one I previously worked for won’t take me seriously anymore, and I can’t leave anyways (lest I be branded a job hopper), but I was realistic and started earning a paycheck again.
Don’t listen to those telling you “don’t settle.” That will likely be the very thing you need to do. Lose the entitlement. I realize this may come across as harsh, but stop holding out for a unicorn and really be realistic with yourself here. This will be the key to rejoining the workforce.

2024.05.19 05:42 icecreamsandwichgirl family owned doctor says i’m not an official employee and doesn’t want to give me a w-4 wants me to do a form 1099

just got hired from my externship, and before my first check i was only given an application that i want to be employed there, not sure how to explain. So i had asked if i can do my w-4
he then goes on to say that it’s just easier to do a 1099 and that since I am “temporary” (which was never disclosed to me) that is why he’s doing it like this. I, then ask how long am I temporary for? since i assumed he meant in a probation period? and he then goes on to say for 1 year, when i did get hired he did mention a period of when you first start out in a job which i assumed was probation period so I said, “yes, 90 days usually” he then chuckled. Going back to him explaining the 1099, he tried explaining this by saying since i’m not an “official employee” this is how it’s going to go and that it’s like when you contract someone to work for you which is why i’m basically, “self employed” and i’m just shocked so I brought it up 3 times before receiving my check and he still didn’t change it, he then says, if i have any problems with this to let him know.
So my bf is telling me to not even go in on monday, but there’s only 2 of us MA’s since it’s such a small office, and she’s going on vacation on the 28th (which I feel was more of a reason why they hired me, the biller (his wife) is going to be up in the front desk with me, helping but idk what to do. If i should just stay 2 weeks so they have someone to cover those days or just don’t go in at all. My coworker has been nice to me and even the wife, she gifted me something for mother’s day so I would feel bad just not going in on monday, not sure what to do or what anyone recommends. I am going to contact my school who got me the job there on monday so hopefully they’re not affiliated with them anymore.
I’m sure he just hired me bc the other medical assistant was going on vacay and they needed someone and just worried hell fire me after since i kept bringing up the w-4.
sorry if this is all scattered i’m so conflicted

Bought a LG A925KSM as an employee at a retailer. It was a display being moved out, so for $20 I got it and a few months later the batteries started going out. So it was brand new when I got it no use at all besides standing high up as a display. Have a receipt, says I have a warranty on the app as it’s been within a year since I got it. My question is will they cover the warranty??

2024.05.19 05:36 Anevaino BEST TEAM FOR CLASSIC MODE FOUND

we gotta cut this narrative that u need specific starters to make it through classic or that the species of pokemon you have is the biggest factor in winning. if someone needs some ideas on who to run im all for helping but this game has some of the hardest backseating i’ve ever seen. DID YOU KNOW PICKUP IS BROKEN? DID YOU KNOW MEOWTH IS BROKEN? DID YOU KNOW GOLISOPOD IS BROKEN? i mean it’s a game made in a roguelite fashion where ur pokemon are made to get absolutely juiced w perfect ivs, 2 abilities (passive), illegal egg moved, and buffs during the run. everything is going to feel broken when you hit the right combo.
i think people who don’t play roguelikes are unfamiliar with dumping all ur resources into a certain win condtion/combo to become broken and sweep. I think people who dont play rom hacks or hard pokemon are not used to learning the ai’s patterns and starting to easily predict their moves. In either case people struggle and get screamed at that the need better mons or this is what u used in your run so they should do that.. I just swept classic easily with ampharos, nidoqueen, parasect, lurantis, linoone, klefki without one of them having passive, hidden ability, or egg move. i dont think im better than u or some pokemon elitist bc of that. im just trying to say if people need help id like to see more tips on how to play the game and less HOLY FRICKING FRICK U DIDNT EVEN USE TINKATON HAHAHA WHERES UR KYOGRE bc i think it makes it feel like a more insurmountable task to newcomers when u tell them they need to farm passives nd legendaries to get the feeling of one win.
go ahead and tell me what pokemon on my team is super hard to obtain and broken. and before u say it, a lot of easy to get mon like linoone have pickup, i didnt mega my ampharos bc i didnt want dragon weakness, and i saw klefki, mawile, and tinkaton during the run and simply caught the first one i saw so i had an easy defensive pivot. you CAN 1. use lures in biomes w steel/fairy mon to get higher odds to see them 2. find a map 3. always make sure to have balls on hand so u dont miss 4. start with one 5. dna splice one.. its not guaranteed but i’ve heard too many times that it’s super highroll to see one when it just isn’t. (rip to my brothers who got caught in the blue collar loop though (employees at the lake, power plant, or construction site 🤣)
any tips needed id genuinely love to help. this game has really brought back my love of pokemon. best of luck to you for shiny weekend bros!

2024.05.19 05:25 Commercial_Regret344 Need Advice - Is this the right decision to take this new job?

Hello everyone, I’m 23, backstory - I started a new role at a company recently and I love the values and ideals of this company.
They are big on customer service, cleanliness and creating a great experience for customers, this is something I genuinely enjoy and pride myself in doing.
They even have such high standards for cleanliness, with making coffee I feel my expertise as a barista has changed immensely since starting with them.
Here is the dilemma:
They are a new company and as such in the last few months hours have been very inconsistent.
Starting at 2 then 3, then 4, 6 and back to 3 shifts again per week - I lack confidence with them in the exact hours I expect weekly.
Because of this, I decided to apply for a new barista role at a different company. I interviewed and was given the role immediately.
My issue is this: this is a smaller mom and dad company and I realised at my trial coffee shift that they seem to have very low cleanliness level i.e wet clumped coffee grounds were all over the counter by the espresso machine.
They also re-made milk in the same jug as already steamed leftover milk.
This would never fly at my current job as everything is cleaned and fresh by barista’s very consistently.
The second thing is as it’s a very small company, I have a weird feeling it might get awkward working so closely to the owner.
My current job is a huge corporation, where we speak with managers directly instead. It’s a lot more chill.
The first job is great and amazing in skills and opportunities for growth, save the inconsistent hours.
This new job worries me with the management and the lack of cleanliness. I read a review by an ex employee who states the company is toxic and surfaces dirty i.e exactly what I said.
Clearly this is one person’s speak and my intuition vs a nice owner and great interview.
I’m unsure the next steps to take.
Ps: s I received my offer letter, where they asked for an email to e-transfer me salary.
This is strange as my current job asked for a blank cheque to get my bank direct deposit details and even uses a system that deposits pay every 12:00pm on bi-weekly Fridays.
They need a quick start and I am scared to give up my availability at a great, inconsistent company
for a new company with consistent hours but the environment might be physically unclean and awkward, with less chance to grow in skill as a Barista.

2024.05.19 05:19 Fun_Sized_Taylor Lauren’s GG Tidbits

I saw Lauren speak at a promo event today for her latest book. I thought you guys would be interested in some of the GG tidbits she shared. I’m sure some of this may have been mentioned before by others who’ve heard her speak.
-One episode would take about 8 12-14 hour work days. -Sometimes Kelly would walk up to her and ask if she wanted to share a bag of Cheetos. She said she would say to Kelly, “ooh you’re bad.” -From the GG AYITL set, she took a refrigerator magnet with a picture of Alexis, it said you’re the apple of my eye. She also took a pig figurine that she never noticed before and some clothes. I wish she shared which clothing items! She also has THE sign or a sign of the Dragonfly Inn in her garage. -Ed heard about the ending of the show from a video store employee who said “Sorry about your show” to him. She got the news from her agent while out at dinner. -She would be interested in doing a GG Christmas movie where we find out the father of Rory’s baby. She thinks the baby is a girl and would be named Lolo. These are her musings and not the shows. -Apparently she never answers the question: Dean, Jess or Logan? -She would not marry Kirk LOL. -Lastly she shared a funny story where while working with Meryl Streep on a movie, Meryl told her she was a good listener and because Lauren was so nervous, her response was “What?”
Edit: just remembered more. -Her comfort shows that she either has on or would have in the background - Sex and the City and she also mentioned The Godfather lol. -Kelly and Lauren sign off their texts to each other, TVM and TVD (tv mom and daughter).

Hello!
I have been desperately trying to find some guidance regarding OE to see if this is even an option for me. I am currently in a FT WFH hourly job that I have managed to effectively make a 5-8 hour max weekly routine. I spend most of my week basically doing nothing and my boss has nothing but great things to say about my work. After stumbling into this subreddit I am wondering if this is the best route for me but I’m an hourly worker I don’t know if it’s at all possible to work two hourly jobs (is this even legal?) or if I should aim for a salary job instead? I just hate wasting so much of my time doing nothing when I have the bandwidth to do more and earn more.
I have been experimenting with clocking in, doing nothing but leaving my laptop on, and then clocking out later in the day (basically do nothing but reply to 2 emails) to see if I get any feedback but I haven’t since I technically complete all my work and I’m never late on anything. I have a max of 5 meetings that I attend monthly (3 in the summer since my bosses like ti cancel the summer meetings). For the past month I have managed to read, watch TV, go to the gym (or a walk), bake and cook all while on the clock. The only reason I rather not let this job go is because I have made it such an easy routine for me and I have managed to get all my managers(2) to not only like me but look to me to guide some of the new employees.
Maybe I can get the J2 and do all my work in the 9-5 time but clock in different hours? I am able to clock in on my phone or manually change my hours on my laptop. I am currently in the administrative side of healthcare. If I’m being honestly, I’m a glorified secretary for a hospital specialty with a bachelors in healthcare administration lol.
Clearly I can’t speak to anyone about this but my goal is to dig myself out of some deep debt so I’m hoping to make this work. Any two cents will help me. I am currently bouncing my thoughts off the wall and hoping to see the ‘right path’. Thank you in advance for your time and advice! :)
