My Sex Addict Partner Ruined My Life

2024.05.19 01:21 theyretheyre My Sex Addict Partner Ruined My Life

I had been with my partner for 8 years. For full transparency, he told me has was a sex addict the day we met. He was in recovery at the time and was (I thought) dedicated. Part of what drew me to him was that he seemed so in touch with his emotions and was working on himself, which I attributed to the SLAA program, and to be honest I didn't ever think we would be anything. Overall I was non-judgmental. I was young and it was a novelty in a way. He was open and honest, talked about his past experiences with swinger couples (that was his thing), but assured me that was all behind him. What he really wanted was a healthy, monogamous relationship. Against all my better judgement, I fell in love. Looking back, he love-bombed me and I fell for it.
Over the last 8 years there have been multiple D-Days. The first was fairly early on in our relationship. He had moved and we were long-distance at the time (long-distance with a sex addict--I mean wow) and he told me he had been having a hard time with his addiction, was using porn compulsively and started a "No Fap" challenge to reset. I thanked him for being transparent with me and did my best to be supportive. Shortly after, I ended up snooping and found out he got a HJ at a massage parlor. He confessed, I was devastated. He was remorseful. Doubled down on his efforts. We carried on.
Years later we were living together and I noticed he was being more hostile towards me. My gut told me something was up. I snooped again and found lewd text exchanges with strangers. He was not in the program at the time. I did a few therapy sessions, he started weekly therapy and started working the program again. We picked up the pieces and carried on.
Cut to a few years later. We're at a rocky period in our relationship. I get a sense that something is up, and find text exchanges revealing that he had made out with someone at a bar. He was trying to pursue her, hoping to meet up again and pick up where they left off. I took screenshots of the interaction and called her, told her everything, and asked if she would be willing to tell me anything else about their interaction. She said that they had just made out but she did find it weird that when he first started texting her it was from a different number. That tipped off alarm bells. I confronted him. He was defensive. We did couples therapy, he started working the program again. I persisted.
Then the most recent D-Day, this past Saturday. I had been complaining about some pelvic pain for a few weeks, had an appointment scheduled with the OB/GYN to try to see what's up. I fell asleep on the couch with him rubbing my stomach. He told me how happy he was and that I was the love of his life. Then shortly after midnight I woke up and he was in a panic. He told me that he had really fucked up and needed to tell me something. Then he confessed that he had met up with a swinger couple from a website and had unprotected sex in the bathroom of the bar with the wife. He feared he had given me an STD and that was the source of my pain. As far as I knew at the time, this was the first time he had actually had intercourse outside of the relationship.
It felt like my world was caving in around me. He just proposed to me TWO WEEKS AGO. With my grandmother's ring. That D-Day was the day we picked up my ring from the jeweler. I was resolved to do things differently this time, and rather than continue to hide the depths of his addiction I told everyone--my friends, my family. I told him to move out. I got an STD panel. More things started to come out--visits to nudist clubs, more sex with swingers, I'm sure a bunch of other things that he didn't want to tell me at the time. I didn't eat for two days. Started smoking again. And yet. Within 72 hours, I was asking him to come back and trying to "set boundaries", imagining that maybe this was the real wake up call we both needed to fix this for real. He was my best friend. I thought he was the love of my life. We'd been virtually inseparable for the last 8 years. And I mean we just got engaged. In my head I wanted to leave, but in my heart I still, somehow, wasn't ready to let go.
Until yesterday, when my real wake up call came. I was out with my mother and her best friend. They were both aware that I was flirting with reconciliation and were very appropriately concerned. That all changed when my mother told me something that rocked me to my core. Apparently a few months ago she was alone with him in my apartment and he started rubbing himself through his pants in front of her. He said "I can't believe I'm doing this in front of you", and asked her if she wanted to touch it. She was in shock and obviously said no. She said he then put her hand on his penis and she immediately left the apartment. When I asked why she didn't tell me immediately, she said she was too afraid to tell me because she thought I would run toward him and away from her. She was afraid she would lose me and our relationship. I forgive her. But I will never, ever forgive him. I immediately called him and told him it was over, that he needs so so much help and I will no longer be there for him.
I know it sounds crazy given that I knew he was a sex addict from the start, but I didn't know that it would lead to this. I didn't realize the way it would escalate, and that he would eventually sexually assault my mother. It's sick, truly. Obviously I'm not in a great headspace right now and I know I will have to do a ton of therapy to process the trauma of all of this. But ultimately I am grateful. Grateful that this happened before I was married or had a child with this man--who knows what he is truly capable of?
I'm sharing all this in case there is someone else like me out there looking for the courage to leave their sex addict spouse. Please, please don't let it get to this. I would have never imagined that he was capable of this. The addiction WILL continue to escalate. YOUR LIFE and YOUR FAMILY'S LIVES are at stake. If I could go back in time eight years and undo it all I would. No amount of "love" is worth this.
TL;DR--My former fiance's sex addiction escalated to the point that he sexually assaulted my mother.

2024.05.19 01:16 OldCarWorshipper Would you restore or junk this car?

One of my various vehicles I own is a 1995 Lexus LS400. I purchased it in 2008 with some of the money I inherited from a well-off family member. It was a low mileage, one-owner creampuff at the the time that I got it, but it's now clearly showing its age.
THE GOOD:
A strong running engine with only 145K miles. Those Lexus V8s routinely last up to 300K miles or more.
Transmission rebuilt in 2016.
Timing belt, water pump, A/C compressor, and power steering pump all replaced within the past couple of years.
Totally straight, rust free body.
Power windows and moonroof all still work flawlessly. A/C blows ice cold.
THE BAD:
Exterior paint and leather interior upholstery completely destroyed from age and sun damage.
Faulty weather seal caused a severe water leak during hard rains, soaking and ruining the carpet and frying the amplifier for the car's factory sound system.
Factory stereo receiver no longer works and the climate control display panel is fritzing out.
Steering rack is hemorrhaging fluid due to worn / bad seals.
Metal tube that's part of the engine's smog control system is cracked, creating a dangerous exhaust leak. Repairing it requires removal of the transmission, making it a costly and time-consuming job.
Window tint is peeling off.
At this point I've got other, better vehicles in my possession. Even so, I'm still a little reluctant to get rid of this one since it was bought with part of my inheritance, the rebuilt transmission was a gift from my late father, the engine is good for another 200,000 miles, and those cars still have decent resale value for their age.
What would you guys do with a car like this? Slowly restore it, or sell it off?

2024.05.19 01:01 Crazycooter17 Need help finding a discontinued part.

Looking for a brake proportioning valve for a 1992 chevy g20. I know it’s a discontinued part and can’t find anything that will work anywhere. The original was leaking, and the shop tried to fix it but boogered up the threads. Really not trying to refigure the hardlines to fit a different model so hoping someone knew a part that could work.. trying junk yards on Monday when they open but would prefer to spend money on a new one that I know is reliable. My wife and I are in a unique situation as I am a traveling carpenter and we live out of our van. Hoping to be able to remedy this situation quickly.

Starting an expensive journey I'm sure... Need some help
Hello friends, I've had two 4runners in my dad's woods for about 20 years... His recent divorce have shoved these things back into my life. The Maroon SR5 was my first car that's the one I'll keep, the white one I'll probably get running and sell after I pick through it. Kind of a shot in the dark here but has anyone complied a list of links to sites that still make parts for these things? I always knew of Lc engineering and I've recently found alfaparts.net for body panels. Any help is much appreciated!!! Thanks in advanced gang!

Was bored and was going to order the replacement part but its like $300+. Before spending that kinda money I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on smoothing the area and fixing it up or along those lines. New to cars but I work on aircraft so I have tools and some knowhow but don't work on panels like this very often. Any ideas appreciated.

2024.05.19 00:41 DrSuperZeco Deciding between Genesis GV80 and Porsche Cayenne

Hi,
I came here because I feel like I’m facing a dilemma.
First of all, I drive a 2019 Lexus LS500. Its a full size sedan.
Why I’m switching cars: A. Because of knees issue, I’m looking for an suv that is not too high. B. My lexus is out of warranty. Same year model are popping up online with AC servo problems, turbo issues, etc.
What I was offered: 1. 2024 Genesis GV80. Fully loaded. $15k below msrp. Window tint. 5 years warranty. 5 years service plan. 5 years road side assistance. 2 years concierge. I saw the new 2025 face lift. It was not discontinued. And I prefer the 2024 dashboard.
  1. 2024 Porsche Cayenne. $6500 below msrp. Window tint. 3 years warranty. No service plan (service schedule is every 12 months. First one costs $650, 2nd $1300, 3rd $650…). The final price is $16k more expensive than the offer I received on the Genesis.
The dilemma: The Genesis package sounds like a higher value given that I am paying $16k less than a Porsche and getting fully loaded SUV with five years peace of mind.
However, the idea of parting away with a Lexus for a Korean car doesnt sit well with me.
On the other hand, the Porsche is a PORSCHE! Thats like a “finishers car” 😂🤣 the interior is fresh for 2024 model. And its German quality. I feel like I wont have any issues selling it after five years if I choose to upgrade to something else. I feel the GV80 would loose a lot of money in comparison.
What do you think?
Appreciate your input. Thanks!’

Is this Auto Repair Estimate Fair? Need Help Deciphering Charges
Hey everyone,
I recently received an auto repair estimate for my 2016 Jeep Patriot , and I'm seeking some advice on whether the charges seem fair. The estimate seems higher than expected, and I'm hoping to get some insights from the community.
Here's the breakdown of the charges:
Service Labor Charges:
  • Sheet Metal (SM): $705.60
    • Includes labor for repairing and refinishing the outer panels of both front and rear doors.
  • Refinish (RF): $235.20
    • Labor specifically for refinishing the repaired areas.
Aftermarket Parts:
  • Front Door Parts:
    • Cladding, Front Door (Right): $138.00
    • Outer Panel, Front Door (Right): $0.00 (repair)
    • Belt Outer Weatherstrip, Front Door (Right): $0.00 (replace & install)
    • Inner Door Trim Panel, Front Door (Right): $0.00 (replace & install)
    • Mirror, Outer Rear View (Right): $0.00 (replace & install)
    • Handle, Front Door Outer (Right): $0.00 (replace & install)
  • Rear Door Parts:
    • Cladding, Rear Door (Right): $138.00 - found on ebay for $89.00
    • Outer Panel, Rear Door (Right): $0.00 (repair)
    • Inner Door Trim Panel, Rear Door (Right): Included
    • Handle, Rear Door Outer (Right): Included
  • Additional Parts:
    • Economy Car Exterior Cover: $5.00
    • Hazardous Waste Removal: $3.00
Emblem:
  • N/Plate, Front Door (Right): $138.00
    • This appears to be the emblem replacement for the front door. It's listed at $138.00, which seems significantly overpriced for a standard emblem. Double-checking the market price for this part might be advisable.
Overall, the labor charges seem reasonable for the repairs needed on the front and rear doors, but it's worth questioning the pricing for the emblem replacement to ensure fair pricing.
Cladding, Rear Door (Right): $138.00 419.00 Tax on Parts & Material: $21.10 Total Estimate: $1,380.90
I managed to pluck out most. its very minor look at other ones. This a turo rental. Crazy

2024.05.19 00:16 ThatLeafsFan1 Persistent Low FPS and GPU Utilization Drops on Ryzen 9 7900X3D Across Multiple Games

I genuinely think I am going insane. In August 2023, I upgraded my PC from the AM4 platform to the AM5 platform. To provide a comprehensive overview, I will share the PcPartPicker lists for both PCs, along with the detailed specs here.
New: Ryzen 9 7900X3D (PBO enabled) EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 Asus X670E Crosshair Extreme G.Skill 32GB (2 x 16) 7600mhz CAS36 Trident Z5 2TB Crucial T700 1TB Corsair MP600 Corsair AIO H170i 420mm Corsair 7000D case Corsair HX1500i PSU (ATX 3.0/PCie 5.0) (1500 W)
Old: Ryzen 7 5800X (Overclocked to 4.8 GHz, stable) EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WI-FI G.Skill 32GB (2 x 16) 4000mhz CAS18 Trident Z 1TB Corsair MP600 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD MSI AIO MPG CORELIQUID V2 360mm Corsair 7000D case Corsair RM 850x PSU (850 W)
Ever since I upgraded to the AM5 platform, in many games, within the first 1 - 10 minutes of launching (regardless of whether I stay in the lobby or queue into a match), my frames drop below 5 FPS and stay like that from anywhere between 20 seconds to 3 minutes. GPU utilization drops from 20% to 99% (depending on the game) to 1% to 5%. DPC latency for Nvidia and other drivers spikes like crazy. I've attached the LatencyMon reports.
Once it returns to normal, it STAYS normal until I restart my PC. The thing is, there are only some games like this. For example, it always happens in Valorant (not resource intensive) and Apex Legends (resource intensive). I play these two at low settings. However, it never happens in Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport (2023), and I play both at max settings in 1440p!
I've RMA'd the motherboard and CPU and even tried swapping the graphics card with a 4060, yet the issue still persisted. This never happens when I run Cinebench or casually use my PC. My BIOS, OS (Windows 11 23H2), and every single damn driver on my PC is up-to-date. I check every day for updates on everything. I may be the most up-to-date man in my city. I have also ruled out thermal throttling, as my CPU is stays below 75c when these drops happen, and before.
I've clean-installed Windows 11 countless times with no luck. I've played with no additional software on my PC, just drivers, and it still happens. I contacted NVIDIA support, but customer service couldn't fix it. I got forwarded to "level 2 tech support", and they said, "We will look into it on our side." I followed up consistently for weeks and never got a response back. I even made a new ticket, which got closed with no response. I even emailed their HQ (I think), and never got a response from them either.
I'm considering giving up and getting ready to splurge on a Ryzen 9 9900X when it's released. I believe it has something to do with the 3D-Vcache, and I prefer having a fixed overclock and finding its stable limits. At this point, I am insanely desperate for any fix. Please feel free to ask any questions that would help troubleshoot. Keep in mind that the screenshots were taken a few months ago when I submitted the support ticket to NVIDIA.

2024.05.19 00:16 ldco2016 Reverse Engineer a favorite WordPress site

I have not done any WordPress type of development in years and I am interested in reverse engineering a WordPress site. I know how to view page source and see the plugins it uses such as buddyboss pro for example, but I mean I want to see how it developed the sidebar menu that it uses and just kind of get the bones of the site copied and I can go from there and probably even improve on it.
I know once you are in the site it has a google maps on a left hand panel, it has a hero page at the top with a search bar in the hero part where you can search a list that exists on the right hand side using certain criteria.
I know it uses buddboss pro, elementor pro, it uses active campaign subscription forms or something like that, it uses woocommerce, but still not sure how to reverse engineer this thing. I tried downloading buddyX, I had not yet downloaded woocommerce at the time, but still, buddyX did not seem to offer a sidebar menu.
Anyway, thanks in advance.

2024.05.19 00:13 ThatLeafsFan1 Persistent Low FPS and GPU Utilization Drops on Ryzen 9 7900X3D Across Multiple Games

CONCLUSION _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. Free ND door parts
Old owner destroyed the door panels by cutting out the speaker holes with jig saw 🤦‍♂️. I got new panels and now have some left over parts that I don’t need but figured someone might want em, feels wrong to just toss em. All free just pay the shipping.

2024.05.18 23:53 Dependent-Car1705 Post-panel interview thoughts, recruiters?

I've had a fairly quick interview loop experience with a prominent tech company: recruiter call, then following week hiring manager, then the following the panel interview with 4 senior level team members (head of/directors). Initially, the panel was scheduled for mid-week + then all were moved earlier. The recruiter mentioned that there is an upcoming deadline for the role. I think the interviews went pretty well. There may have been a couple moments where I could have been more succinct, but communicated everything I needed to in a structured way (STAR) (e.g. established rapport, competencies for the role, culture, etc). All the interviews went to the very end or slightly over. I asked good questions and conversation turned casual.
After I sent my thank you email, the recruiter responded early the next morning and said he should have an answer by EOW with a decision. It's now the weekend and I didn't hear anything. Obviously, it hasn't been long at all + there are so many variables (e.g. the sync could have been moved, senior level directors have a ton on their plate, etc) - but a part of me thinks that if I were a frontrunner, someone might've been in touch to let me know there would be a delay? My anxiety is strong.
What are your thoughts, recruiters?

2024.05.18 23:51 masa-mune69 1998 Honda Acty Van rear wiper arm

recently my son bought a 98 acty van(HH3), the Van was missing the rear wiper arm, after searching google, youtube , etc this is the part# we think is the one we need, 76722-S2K-003, unfortunately this part is discontinued, does anyone know of a compatible replacement, one guy said the 96 acura rsx rear arm was the same but not a match, it's close but the spring part rubs against the van, I could probably get it to work, but i was hoping someone might know of something before i attempt to do something TIA note: the other option would be to remove the wiper arm assembly and if anyone might have done this, how is visibility without the rear wiper.

2024.05.18 23:49 CreepyBudget If Gege is baiting, this is extremely disrespectful to the fanbase

I don't care what anyone thinks, quite frankly the "vibe" i get from Gege as a "writer" is that he enjoys making fun of the desires of his audience. He takes every opportunity to poke fun, to bait and at this point I've come to believe he is just a spiteful motherfucker.
I really hope he is bringing Gojo in some capacity that is rewarding for the audience. I have 0 faith in him but if this bait is some variation of the following:
He is about to cross a line. Because at that point then WHY taunt the fanbase with what he damn well KNOWS its what everyone wants. There are ways to implement the options above without mocking the fanbase.
LET ME REPEAT THAT PART.
Doing any of the above things would not be the problem. The problem is how he is setting things up in a way that makes everyone think that Gojo is back. The intent is for us to believe it is Gojo and OF COURSE he put it in the last panel.
I really hope for the sake of this sub that he isn't pulling some shit like this.

2024.05.18 23:44 tbonehaj Hope This Helps, I Think It Helped Me. 54yo Male.

TL/DR version: Dr. wanted me on low dose of statins (Diagnosis = Familial hypercholesterolemia - FH). I said give me 6 mo. I drank green kale juice almost daily and substantially reduced sugaalcohol intake. Moderate exercise 1-3x a week. Cholesterol improved. Avoided medication (statins) for now.
Longer version: In 2018 I was walking about 2-3 miles a day at work and on my feet almost the entire time. This was giving my heart a decent workout 4 days a week. Lipid panel was ok.
In 2023 my lipid panel levels worsened and lifestyle factors were part of the reason (imo). My alcohol intake increased and between 2020 - 2023 and I was probably consuming several drinks a week on average (hard alcohol) and my tolerance was only improving with time which meant it was easier to drink more if I wanted. Also, I became more sedentary. My exercise/walking routine stopped.
During my doctor's visit in 2023 he suggested I take a low dosage of statins for my FH. I wanted to try lifestyle changes first and he said 'ok, come back in 6mo.' He admitted to me, right there on the spot, that he didn't think the lifestyle changes were going to lower the cholesterol.
In addition I find the following extremely interesting...over the summer of 2023 I consumed a lot of sugar in the form of movie theater candy (going to the movies a lot) and I remember my skin breaking out (upper torso and arms). I self diagnosed Eruptive Xanthoma. I'm not a doctor but from what I learned online this is exactly what I had over the summer and up to the doctors appointment in December of 2023. I think that a culmination of poor lifestyle choices (diet in particular) led to my cholesterol levels increasing to a point where I had visible symptoms on my skin. This condition comes and goes for me over the previous decade or so and I've also been diagnosed with psoriasis in the past. The psoriasis is managed by my diet and right now I have zero symptoms.
During all of this my heaviest weight was 183 pounds and now I'm down to 158 pounds.
Also, I intermittently took milk thistle, magnesium, and vitamin c.

2024.05.18 23:34 Canuck_Voyageur Where is the line between DID and other dis disorders?

I am probably not DID. I do refer to myself as the Dart Collective.
I am in therapy for CPTSD. Adding ADHD, and perhaps some Autism adds intererst. My doc precribed the ADHD drugs to see if they would help with my focus. They do. My T. says a diagnosis of autism wouldn't make any difference in treatment, and since it costs about a thousand bucks to get 6the diagnosis, I ahven't bothered. I test well above threshold on most of the online tests.
I've taken the DES II test a couple times. Depending on how literally I take the percentage answers I get a score between 15 and 30.
I'm pretty functional. My reaction to trauma was to numb emotions. Generally I don't find emotions very useful, and I find being able to partially mute them to be an advantage.
However in the 2 years of therapy, I've become more aware of my emotional state and more aware of somatics. I rarely fully dissociate. Dual awareness has helped me with this. In some ways it's too bad. Turning my brain off was convenient and peaceful.
Here's the new thing however:
I have a new form of hijacking. Perhaps it's always been here and only now am I noticing it.
Persona A: High energy. Almost manic. Quick witted, hard working, very positive. Confident.
Persona B: Down. Lower edge of window of tolerance. Indifferent. Doom scrolls. Reluctant to go to bed.
Persona C: Very creative. Improvises on piano. Comes up with lots of ideas.
Persona D: Toxic shame. Low libido. Asexual in outlook.
Persona E: Reckless. Ignores bad consequences.
Persona F: High Libido. Tries to hookup with half the guys on Grindr.
Persona G: Law abiding, rule follower.
Persona H: Rebel. Shit disturber.
These persona are not exclusive. I get mixes of them. Unlike emotional flashbackes persona mixes can hang around for days.
But I don't consider them alters: When I'm in a mix, the contrary components are just, well wrong. "That's just wrong", the Ace persona thinks about the HL persona.
Some naturally go together. E and H for example. But I can be E, without being H. E.g. As E I will try pushing harder on trampoline, but am not rebellious. As H: I can quietly and carefully plan my fecal material redistribution plots.
But I don't think of these as alters. Near as I can tell there is no discontinuity of memory. So they all share the same memory space.
So how do less capable parts become Alters?
Some extra info. I've recognized parts. Only a few have ever communicated in words. Mostly it's playing 20 questions visualling scenes and 'feeling' if there is a resonance. There have been some intrusive memories (e.g. I was tell my parts,"this was long ago. And it happened only once" and in my minds eye, a toddler stood, an expression of defiance on his face, right arm raised, with a hand with fingers splayed. And I **knew* that splayed fingers didn't mean Five, but rather it meant Many.)
The CSA at age 3 is at this point only highly probable. Changes in behaviour are consistent with it. But on top of this I don't seem to have formed much of an attachment bond with either parent. Parents didn't take to Dr. Spock, and so believed in the prior theory that children should be handled as little as possible consistent with them being fed, clean, and the right temperature. Fortunately my sister (13 yr older) stepped in. Sis also stopped one attempt of my mom to throw me at the wall.
I have a 2+ year old part, i think formed as a reaction to being left for 3 days at a local hospital. I needed eye surgery for a lazy eye. I have an early memory of standing in a crib, watching mom retreat down a hallway through a pair of double doors. I met this part in a lucid dream, hearing an argument coming from a house that matched the one I grew up in. Rest of the neighbourhood was very different. I call him bluestrip, as he wears a yellow tee with horizontal blue strips with faint green lines on the edges of the blue where the dye ran. Later I found pics of me wearing horizontally striped shirts. Alas, black and white pics.
There is Socks. He's post trauma, whatever happened. Refuses to be seen outside bed/bath not fully clothed. Including socks. Rest of my family was often barefoot. I also insisted on wearing underwear under my PJs Never went swimming. Never undressed to play in the sprinkler. Didn't wear shorts in summer until about age 9.

2024.05.18 23:18 Ashonline67 What type of fan would you recommend for this window?

I recently bought a used truck camper, it does not have any fans or ac at the moment. Because I plan on living off grid very often, I thought a fan would be better because it doesn't take as much electricity to run it. I will be sleeping on the top part where I have two of these fans on either end (check pic).
I would like to install a fan on one of these windows so I could get a good cross breeze for on those hot summer nights. The window size is approx: 25inch by 9.5inch.
Do you know of a fan that would be ideal, which is also easy to install? So far I found only this one as a contender (link below). It's smaller tho, so I guess I would need foam insulating panels on the side. My plan is just to plug it to my electric generator, so I hope I could get a adapter to plug up to the outlet.

2024.05.18 22:53 Orchid_Killer London Edition

Considering the Edition for a June 3-7 stay with their Suite Dreams Promotion, however it looks so dark, and dated with the paneling. Appreciating deep and rich colors are part of the charm of old England, does the rest of the hotel offer anything special?
Normally I’d choose the MayfaiMarylebone/St. James area though I’ve left it late on booking accommodation. That, combined with hoping for a good offepromotion, leaves me with limited choices.
I’m a member of all the hotel programs so am open there, but this seems like a nice deal. Opinions one way or the other are appreciated.
Note: another option is the Althoff St. James though with SLH not currently bookable with Hilton yet I don’t feel as though I’d earn much in the way of points on such a stay.

2024.05.18 22:42 nicepadfolio Brand new to genomics and need help identifying SNPs

Hi everyone,
I'm in on the deep end a bit as I'm working on a genomics project as part of my dissertation. I am working with environmental DNA samples, where I am targeting Canada Lynx and hoping to construct genotypes from those environmental samples. The goal is to use SNPs.
There is a reference genome for Canada Lynx on NCBI, and the impression I got was that SNPs are supposed to be mapped on that genome, however, I have no idea how to look for those and acquire the information I need from them to start building the panel (to keep things simple, I'm hoping to just create a panel of <100 SNPs). I did some research and it sounds like I actually need to sequence my samples first, and then align them to the reference genome? Is that correct?

2024.05.18 22:19 SpokaneNeighbor New Solar Node Updade

New Solar Node Updade
Here are some pics of what I have printed. Not everything is it's final form.
Currently the name saved on my computer is "The Rocket" for obvious reasons. After the solar panels are installed I don't think the name will stick but who knows. I will make another comment specifically for name recommendations so comment in there with a name and be sure to look through and upvote name suggests you like.
Everything came together pretty well. Currently leaving the top cap slightly loose to allow electrical tape to be wrapped around the pipe to provide some sort of seal. I have taken no measurements yet but would guess the whole package is around 16 inches long with 3 18650 batteries.
I am currently printing the last parts to get it together. I will likely continue to tweak the design as I go.

2024.05.18 22:03 Frequent_Mulberry261 Coolant leak?

Coolant leak?
2015 GTI S 150,000 miles Ok so I just had the oil cooler, water pump, and thermostat replaced. Fixed my oil issues and embarked on an 11 hour road trip. I’m in the home stretch, I drop off some plants at a nursery and look on the ground in front of my car. Coolant everywhere on the ground. Freak out, make calls, yell at the techs who put the stuff on. In my excited delirium state the Leak magically stops. I fill it back up and drive it around leak still gone. Antifreeze caked and covering all my tubes and electrical, antifreeze on the bottom panel. What caused this? Could it have been the work they recently done to the water pump or thermostat? Part of me wants to think it’s a magical overflow valve that just was placed in a horrible spot.
