2024.05.26 07:24 KittyHawk2213 can a caseworker have a case closed at the adjudicatory/dispositional hearing? if so, then what?

In Tennessee. Kids removed 11/01/2023, (safety plan) CPS petitioned courts 11/09/2023. Preliminary hearing 11/14/2023. Preliminary postponed until 01/24/2024. Adjudicatory/Dispositional set for 07/2024.
In talking to the caseworker the other day, she stated she was going to push to have the case closed and the kids to remain with us. From all of the court paperwork i have read, all of these court dates should have already been passed by now and that after the adjudicatory/dispositional hearing court would be every 6 months for so long. Her reasons are valid. (parents forclosed on their home, the people who bought it got rid of their 15 dogs for them. Mom cant keep a job. Mom is living with boyfriend. Dad is living with a friend. No parent filled out the kids Tenncare packet so they dont have insurance. found this out because dr office called and let me know.. Neither one doing much for three betterment of the kids)
If she gets the case closed, do the parents never get their kids back?

2024.05.26 07:19 Immediate_Gear4492 Should I move in with my ex boyfriend to save money?

My ex bf and I still talk to each other we have a good friendship. He is looking to move with his friend. My family knows my ex and the friend so they are trusting,
At first, I thought it would be four of us. I thought it would be me my ex his friend and the friend girlfriend. Then I found out the friend girlfriend wouldn’t be moving in due to her living hours away and having to find a job to relocate.
My ex has a dog and another dog temporarily that is his friend dog. His friend has 2 cats and a personal support dog. I have never grown up with pets and I’ve been bit by a dog before so I do get some anxiety even though I know their dogs aren’t really aggressive. The dogs are pit bulls though so idk because there’s been cases with pits where they randomly lash out.
Also I do feel somewhat weird with the gender ratio. We all would have our own bedroom. We had a discussion to where it was said everything wouldn’t be put on me such as cleaning cooking etc. I just still feel hesitant though due to societal norms.
My ex and I be on and off so I was hesitant about moving. We have had a conversation to where everyone seems to be on the same page. I don’t want to make the wrong decision though but I do want o move out of my parents house. I prayed to God to bless me with roommates so I can move out of my parents house. There are certain situations that transpired with my family that I won’t get into.
Another thing is I know men do get jealous. I am interested in dating new people and I do plan to. My ex is nonchalant about it but idk I feel like it could become a problem if I did bring a new boyfriend over.
I know most people see an ex as someone in the past and because we aren’t together or even married idk if this is too much of a commitment. I live in the south where the rent is high especially because I live in a tourist state lol.
I’m not sure if this is the right decision. The other option I could consider is college housing but it is more expensive than having roommates that you split everything with. I think I just worry as well about my reputation and how it would look to be the only woman living with two men lol.
Please provide advice. Please be respectful.

2024.05.26 07:08 abe107146 How can I stop the obsession for good?

I’ve been obsessed with a girl I don’t even know for over 4 years. Literally had one date and she cut all contact with me. It go so bad that I ended up driving by her house which I found through internet stalking. She lives on the other end of the country.
For some reason the only rush I get is when I do something related to my LO or when she posts. I went to different places she posted in the city she lived in. It felt like I was there with her. I felt like I was in some sort of magical land when I went to her hometown. On the way there and in the city she lived is probably the most nervous, happy, and melancholic I’ve ever felt in my life. While in a parking lot I even saw one of her family members and her dog coincidentally. I made sure to leave the area as if she saw me my life would be over. I took lots of pictures and videos while in the city.
After I made the trip I felt like I have finished everything in life. I feel content. How can I fix my brain? I’m scared that I’m going to end up doing something I will regret and my urges to get this rush may become too much. Even to the point I will force myself to actually interact with her. I’ve convinced myself that I’m better off in a vegetative state. I just can’t let her go. I no longer have a sex drive or any desire for intimacy or relationships. I want to find some sort of medication or drug to shut my mind down.

2024.05.26 07:04 Biomed19 How to finally leave… TW

I 22m have been dating my 38m old partner (j for reference) for 4.5 years and am just tired.
I met him when I was 18 (he was 34, no I don’t think he’s weird for the age gap. My age didn’t become a topic of conversation until about a month into us dating/hanging out.) anyways, we met at beginning of Covid and spent a lot of time together. We immediately clicked and I had never met someone more caring. Everything was amazing. Fast forward 6 months, I get into a huge falling out with my parents (have since rebuilt my relationships with them) and decided to move in with him. After about 3 month of living together I find out he’s sending nudes behind my back, I get very upset and decide I want to leave. He coaxes me into staying. (I suffer from severe trust issues for about a year after the incident.) Christmas of 21 rolls around he gets me a dog. Who I absolutely love more than life itself. ATP I’m now about 19-20 and decided I want to go into sales instead of pursuing school full time. He was very bitter and not supportive at the time. Buttttt I start making a killing and role dynamics change very quickly. I start being able to provide for us more than he could. At this point he’s now bitter towards me and we fight all the time. Buttttt like a dumbass we decided to get a house and second dog together. (Not everything was horrible at this time but it wasn’t good either.) In an attempt to repair things we start going on nice vacations together and enjoy our time. But the minute we get home things always started up again. It then gets to the point where I start to question the relationship. I’m realizing I’m not happy and am embarrassed to even talk about our situation with others. I start to not find him attractive we only have sex like once a month. Etc. one night I call him out for his drinking habits and he assaults me. Leaving me with a busted lip and two black eyes. At this point in time I have not reconciled with my parents so I stay with him… (this is about 2.5 years into the relationship). After this incident I feel disgusted that I’m still with him. But some part of me just can’t let go. Fast forward after another year of misery and fighting last summer I finally call it quits. I break things off and move out with the dogs (name is still on house etc.) we remain cordial with one another. I ended up meeting another guy and we start seeing one another and date for the entirety of the summer. But we get to September and I find out the guy I’m dating is cheating on me physically and is very emotionally abusive. So he leaves me after getting caught. I then spiral and snap because of many things (being left, dads health declines, gets laid off from job) and I took an attempt on my life. I end up in a facility and can only get released by living with someone. So J volunteers and steps up popping back into my life saying he’s sorry and that he never stopped loving me and wants to fix things and take care of me. I take him back… the first 3-6 months are great. He’s very supportive of me and my mental health journey taking care of me emotionally financially etc. but once our honeymoon phase ends again we find ourselves back where we were last summer and I now don’t have the courage to leave afraid of what will happen if I do. Please give me some advice. Thanks in advance

2024.05.26 06:55 Immediate_Gear4492 Should I move in with my ex boyfriend to save money?

2024.05.26 06:36 giftsaved Customized Doormat Gift Ideas

When it comes to gifting, there's something incredibly special about personalized items. They show thoughtfulness, creativity, and a genuine effort to make someone feel unique. Customized doormats are one such gift that blend practicality with personal flair, making them an ideal choice for any occasion. Whether it’s for a housewarming, wedding, or simply to spruce up a friend’s home, a personalized doormat is sure to leave a lasting impression. Here are some fantastic customized doormat gift ideas to inspire you.

1. Family Name and Established Date

One of the most popular and timeless designs is the family name with the established date. This is perfect for newlyweds or families moving into a new home. Imagine a doormat that proudly displays "The Johnson Family - Established 2024" at the entrance. It’s a beautiful way to mark a new chapter in their lives.

2. Welcome Messages

A warm welcome message can set the tone for any home. Phrases like "Welcome to Our Happy Place," "Home Sweet Home," or even a simple "Hello!" can make anyone smile as they step through the door. You can also add a touch of humor with sayings like "Hope You Brought Wine" or "Beware of Dog (and Cat, and Kids)."

3. Monograms and Initials

Monogrammed doormats exude elegance and sophistication. They can be designed with a single initial or a full monogram of the family members' initials. This classic look is perfect for those who appreciate a touch of class in their home decor.

4. Seasonal and Holiday Themes

Celebrate the changing seasons and holidays with themed doormats. From autumn leaves and pumpkins for fall to snowflakes and reindeer for winter, these mats can be customized with festive messages and designs. They make excellent gifts for those who love to decorate their homes according to the season.

5. Pet-Friendly Designs

For pet lovers, a doormat featuring their furry friends is a heartwarming gift. You can include images or silhouettes of dogs, cats, or any beloved pet, along with fun phrases like "Wipe Your Paws" or "Dogs Welcome, People Tolerated." This adds a playful and personal touch to their entryway.

6. Inspirational Quotes

Everyone can use a bit of inspiration, and what better way to share uplifting words than through a doormat? Choose quotes that resonate with the recipient, such as "Live, Laugh, Love," "Dream Big," or "Home is Where the Heart Is." These doormats can provide a daily dose of positivity as they step in and out of their home.

7. Custom Artwork and Designs

If you’re feeling particularly creative, you can design a doormat with custom artwork. This could be a landscape, a favorite hobby, or even a caricature of the family members. Personalized artwork doormats are unique and can be a true reflection of the recipient’s personality and interests.

8. Coordinates of Home

For a more subtle yet meaningful touch, consider a doormat with the coordinates of the recipient’s home. It’s a great way to celebrate the place they love and call home. This idea works exceptionally well for those who have a strong connection to their residence or a favorite vacation home.

9. Fun and Quirky Phrases

Inject some humor into your gift with quirky and fun phrases. Doormats with sayings like "The Neighbors Have Better Stuff" or "Hope You Like Dogs" can bring a smile to anyone's face. These mats are great conversation starters and add a bit of fun to the entryway.

Conclusion

Customized doormats are more than just a functional item; they’re a reflection of personality and style. When you give a personalized doormat as a gift, you’re giving something that’s both useful and meaningful. Whether it’s a classic monogram, a funny phrase, or a seasonal design, these doormats are sure to delight anyone who receives them. So, the next time you’re looking for a thoughtful and unique gift, consider a customized doormat to make their home even more special.
Happy gifting!

2024.05.26 06:20 pinpricksinvelvet The Skylar white treatment?

I was born in a small pocket of a big city up north. Single mom and couple siblings, lived with my grandparents most of my life. We didn’t have much and what we did we had by the skin of our teeth really.
I worked really hard, got into a good school, graduated, did an internship and made it out of my hometown! Thrilling!
And then I met my partner. He was like nobody I’d ever met. Audacious in most ways and then he’d surprise me with shyness. Bold and friendly, always making conversation.
We’d had really similar upbringings and had taken total different paths and still found each other. That’s pretty cool!
When we started dating, my mom flipped out. I was in my mid twenties, like fully out of the house, off the insurance type deal. She voluntarily and unexpectedly went no contact with me for two years from a picture. It was painful. But my partner put on a brave face, and he waited it out. Which was another surprise, for me and my mom. He and I drove up and he shook her hand on her property, and they immediately hit it off.
We laughed that day, about how much time she wasted. Look what you’ve been missing!!! He went above and beyond for me in ways people hadn’t before, and that was never lost on me. And I had actually had so much fun. Her loss!
At least now we could play catch up: I was going to be home with him on and off all year for a slew of weddings and accompanying events. You know, as one does when your childhood friends all settle down in the same summer 😀 what could possibly go wrong?
We made it to the first wedding. September. A great time! Someone broke their leg dancing and the dj played them off to evacuate the dance floor? I cannot make this shit up, but these kids share catholic school trauma and we cope with humor. Largely. Usually? I’ll get back to that. My partner and I spent a bit more time with my family, then packed up and drove home. We had just started vending at markets locally and had booked a steampunk event, hoping to find a crossover audience for our art. Neither of us is particularly into steampunk? At all. But he, in particular, fucking hated steampunk. (Seems so extraneous but I swear, this will be important later.)
We were slotted to be back in a few months for the next. And we’d see my family! My aging grandmother, who raised me. My aging dog! Sweet boy! Everything’s okay! I just got the job I’ve been vying for since my move (it’s a glorified carny role and I couldn’t be happier) things are looking up!
On a Friday, I had a panic attack after work. Which, with this new exciting job, was around 3 am. I came home, woke him up, sweaty and crying and stressed out and asked him to wash my hair? Which I had never done. I guess I was just really tired. And he said no, because he had to be up early for a get together with some friends. I cried though about all my fears. My grandma my dog my teeth and he talked me down, like no one else had ever bothered to.
We went to bed late, and I think as a kindness, he left without saying goodbye. I had to work that day, it’s why I wasn’t going along with him.
Then a few hours later, he just died. I say that, not to be crude, just because that’s my concept of how it went.
Communication was so poorly handled by everyone involved and it was so devastating, in retrospect. Genuinely removed my agency from the situation entirely from go. For example, I got the call from family about six hours after the fact, and they had only just received a knock at the door so off to a great start. I got DMs, actually, from people I hardly knew, asking what was going on. And I was like?? You tell me ? You know more than I do if you’re even reaching out, because at this point I haven’t heard from anyone who was at the scene. I had to request a number through Instagram, despite my number— and his mothers— being readily available to them by way of a well-known emergency contact card. Neither of us contacted directly, but people found out through ig somehow. Has never sat right with me. Felt so violating because basically everyone in a 30 mile radius knew what was going on before I was processing that it had happened.
And I knew he died the second I answered the phone. “Are you sitting down?” was a patronizing enough cold open, and the bullshit I was fed about a search was pretty transparent. The circumstances made thing cut and dry, he must be dead. So that’s that.
And he was, but they wouldn’t tell us officially till noon the next day. They found him with sonar 👍 something I wish I didn’t know. Idk why, I just don’t like it much. So impersonal. Not him.
This is where things get complicated and deeply uncomfortable for me. At this point, I’d experienced a lot of devastating loss in my immediate household as a kid. I grew up with disease and morbidity as a constant but not in a weird way? Think Addams? We used to call my grandma morticia, literally. My grandpa was paralyzed from the waist down. TWICE! Because he was drafted after healing his initial spinal cord injury from an auto accident. My family all lived on the same block and my grandfather watched all of us growing up. Which means all of us, at varying ages, watched one of the cousins wither and pass from cancer at 5. My grandma lost the use of her right arm but still had it, limp and swollen. She realearned pretty much everything on her left. We are nothing if not resilient!
And from childhood, I was well accustomed with saying goodbye to people I loved. I didn’t expect people in my life to treat me so differently after this specific death.
And goddamn it I’ve been to my fair share of funerals, if I could do anything for my partner as young widow with Roman Catholic roots, it’s to throw a decent and respectable funerals. With heavy food and good sweets, the butter cookies to distract the kids. And my partner loves funerals— in theory. He collected funereal antiques and oddities (I mean who doesn’t in 2024 am I right? /j?) we have matching his and hers model vaults, they’re out on the porch right now.
They told me to bring pictures. I’m a fine artist and he was self trained, so we had a lot of material and I came stacked to plan with them.
But it was already done. I was sitting his parents and siblings, and his least favorite aunt. I hardly ever saw her, red flag immediately. She is not particularly friendly to me, but she’s smiling. The only one lol.
Tell me why this lady was in charge of decorating, and was so excited about the WAIT FOR IT STEAMPUNK DECOR she picked up at fucking party city for a 35 year old man’s FUNERAL! A man who, in life, vehemently hated steampunk. And I laughed! Hard, because it was genuinely so funny. It is still so funny. Like, even my partner would find that hilarious kinda just by circumstance lol like in retrospect it’s kinda giving camp no? A funeral at the local teamsters hall with generic deli subs, and that aunt taking pictures with friends in the sorority pose for some reason.
This did set a devastating trend of completely bypassing me in any conversation, despite my partner and I sharing a home and bills for years prior to his death. We are not in a common law state and we hadn’t updated our information to reflect otherwise.
I didn’t communicate with the funeral home, I found out after the fact that they made the arrangements without me. The request was that we would receive back one lock of his hair, and his whole beard and his dentures (long story). While we did get the teeth, we only got back a (1) lock of his beard to share 😃 and he was cremated 😃 so that was a fun conversation, again, after the fact.
The GFM, the meal train, the life insurance all went across the street to his family’s house, where it largely stayed for almost whole the first year. Just long enough to burn all of my savings paying all the rent on a lease we signed a month before he died. Coupled with the economy, I’m setback so far on so many levels I feel like genuinely hope it’s but finances are the worst. I was getting regular eviction notices despite constant communication with my complex’s office about the situation, and I was never even technically late on my rent— by contract tenants have til the fourth and I never paid later than hat. Anyway it affected me like mental warfare and now I have crippling anxiety about housing.
His mom did help me, I think on the DL and only after they had remodeled their kitchen and gotten a new puppy. I was able to scrape by and get out, now I’m thriving in a studio with two cats in tow. A great look for a single woman in her thirties! I actually love the studio, and it puts me closer to the city, which I know is better for me opportunity wise (and boy howdy could I use an opportunity lol)
It also puts closer to the people who saw what happened and never had the good sense to tell me like I was a person. These were mostly old buddies, a decent handful of them and I didn’t know them well because my partner just didn’t really run in that circle anymore I guess. But they are all pretty well known in town. And within a few weeks of his death, it got back to me that my name was circling in the zeitgeist.
Over the past few years, it has been proven to me that these people have connections in every avenue of interest, even my profession. That sounds crazy maybe but it is true, mainly because I’m a transplant on their turf. But I moved here for the job? Which I wanted long before I met my partner. Why should I feel pushed out of an arena I fought so hard to play in? It’s been very isolating— I avoid most of the things I used to love because I cannot avoid an awkward run in. Conventions, themed events, even places we like to shop.
Anyway these are the basics but my phone is lagging so bad I almost can’t functionally type so I’m calling it for now... I hope this doesn’t sound too gruff, I’m just trying to live it as it comes. May add some context or anecdotes later. It’s been a wild couple of years and the people I thought would care just don’t seem to. So I appreciate anyone with the wherewithal to read this mess. Thanks.

2024.05.26 06:03 ThrowRaJackfruit My 26F ex 27M moved into my apartment building. I strongly, equally, hate and admire him. How can I detach from the idea that this is fate?

TL;DR I have very deep unresolved feelings about my ex. I believe this is mutual because he has reached out during his long term relationship with a new woman. I found out on Friday that they moved into my apartment building. I am also 99% pretty sure he reached out to me while they were together and committed for about a year at that point. To make things even more complicated I live with my bf (M27) of almost 2 years and we are very serious. What would you make of this situation if it was happening to you?
Full story , sorry it is so long
I moved to a new city Sept 2020 fresh out of a 4 year college relationship. Surface level relationship out of convenience, both of our first relationship and sexual partner. When I moved, I was 22 and had a lot of exploring to do, having only been with one person. I dated around as you do, and there is one specific person who I dated and still think about from time to time. I want to help it, but sometimes the thought creeps up at the most random times. The thing is, we only dated for about 2-3 months but it was kind of intense. We talked on the phone for 4-6 hrs a night. We hung out and hooked up, but he was fresh out of a relationship as well and very jaded. He took a lot of how he felt about his ex and women in general and projected it on me. He held back from commitment or going any deeper. Hesitated to make plans with me. I was not looking for someone to talk to on the phone all day. I felt ready for a partner that I had a deeper connection with than my college bf.
When we were intimate together you could feel something different. When we conversed, it could go on for hours and we wouldn’t notice. I believe circumstances aside, we connect deeply as people.
Things ended because he was not trying. He would send me pictures on Friday night at a poker game with his friends and drugs on the table, just weird stuff. But a completely different person when I spoke to him. What bothered me about that is we were very deep into talking at that point and he didn’t make an effort to make plans with me, but rather to hang out with his friends all the time. When I brought it up he would immediately get defensive, “I didn’t do anything wrong” “I live far” “I have a knee problem I’m embarrassed about” it was excuses. Then he would say things like “I’ve only felt this way about one other person”. Which turned me off. And icing on the cake, “if we’re fighting like this in the beginning, it will never work” because I brought up what upset me when he asked. I ended it and said please do not reach out to me, (I don’t like to block people I have had intimate relations with). He ended it on “well if you don’t think I’m giving you what you deserve , sorry and you should find someone who does”. And I did. And we are talking marriage. We live together. I met his family 2 months into our relationship. He is 100% in. We have been together for almost 2 years. He is the only person I have ever pictured growing old with and he has made me a better person in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Alas….. the inevitable breadcrumb texts from the ex. “Hey goofball”. Basically trying to get a response from me, I would sometimes give in (before I met my current partner and was single) and reply, immaturely he would always ghost The climax was when I got a bit tipsy during my sister’s rehearsal dinner, and got the courage when I was back in my hotel room to tell him how I really feel without being nice.. I texted, “ I asked you not to reach out for a reason and it really really bothers me. I tried to call him (aggressive yes, but trust me I don’t think it was unwanted attention). He said “you need to stop this is toxic. I’m with my family” and that’s how we ended things. I blocked him after that and it was done April 2022.
June 2023 I had just moved in with my new partner who is the most wonderful man and literally has made me the best version of myself. June 2023 I get a text from this ex. I have no idea how he was unblocked, but I recognized the phone number. “Hey”. I gave it a thumbs down and he says “still acting like a Reddit mod 🤣”… which was one of our inside jokes.
Never responded to this. Blocked his number again and went about my life. Now it is almost June 2024. I randomly think about him on Friday. Just a weird gut feeling, a pit in my stomach that this is unfortunately not over. Maybe it’s because I still need to heal. Nonetheless, I will admit I looked him up on insta and saw he has a gf. Then I see my countertop. My cabinets. My microwave and oven. Same paint color same doors. My heart drops into my ass. Her latest post is of her new car. I say “okay well calm down there’s so many apartments that could have maybe used those same materials?” (There are so many apt buildings in the city I live, thousands)... that night I take my dog out and see the exact car she posted parked literally in my direct point of view as I walk outside.
I am struggling today. This has brought up a lot of emotions that I don’t understand. The thing is, he reached out to me while he was dating this new girl. He has been with her since 2022. Last he texted me was 2023. I don’t understand what is going on and it feels like the universe is playing a cruel joke on me. Living doors down from him and knowing he is giving her everything he did not think I was worthy of… it stings. I’m trying to stop thinking about him and the whole situation but it feels like nothing helps and my mind is stuck in this loop. I hate him so much but I think I might still have feelings for him. I am thankful for any insight or viewpoints you can provide and please be kind. Do I leave this alone and make every effort to kill these thoughts? Do I seek closure? Or do I make a stronger effort to heal? Help.

I don’t have an answer for them ,
But now I do.
You’re mine girl , even if you’re nothing you’re still mine.

Now go make me my favorite meal , my love, I need to go for a date later, and I don’t wanna order too much food.

2024.05.26 05:54 howthfukdbitcoinwurk Vet student ode to my first personal euthanasia

I wrote this ‘story’ for my cat- who got me through my first year of vet school and taught me so much. I could say so many things but wrote this- with him next to me in his last few days. His euthanasia was beautiful and meaningful and I learned SO much from his condition. Don’t mind my grammar- this is from emotion. But, figured I would would share: my ode to Mr. P. -Rest in peace my sweet man.
Mr. P deserves his own story:
I will never forget the first time I met him- I came to a barbecue and me and my friends (yes- we are THOOSE people) brought our dogs. We were by the grill when Ollie “treed” Mr.P. He was my now great friends boyfriend now fiance. I will never forget him saying in the most stoner tone: “hey! You treed my cat!”. Next time I met him I was picking up a hand mixer and crock pot from his house (M.Ps of course). He layed himself across the driveway (all slutty like he does) and Ally told me how they needed to get rid of him and the options were shelter and possible euth. I saw that (pardon my language) “puss” and said ‘yea he’s coming home with me’. I remember having my last cat two month prior and it was brief- but I told myself I didn’t want a cat-but something about P told me he was mine. Probably the way he sprawled in the sun and listened to his name and chirped back with you at every call of his name. P! I never realized how important he truly was to me until I realized how little time he had. I will never forget the way I would pull into the driveway at my house in sugarhouse and he would immediately great me- ALWAYS the first. He would either be sitting there in his sexy little long legged sprawl- or chirping flirtatiously, wanting a nice chin rub. I will never forget the many times I’ve seen him rubbing in the dirt, showing such enthusiasm. He taught me not to care “how dirty your dog/cat is!!!” Or worry about being grubby in general- me included. He made me love my own grub and provided some personality and almost a sense of a roommate. Especially in the time I spent alone living with my animals working to apply to school. I moved to vet school and he LOVED Logan. It was wild and tame enough, neighborhood cats and lots for him to romp (I must add he is only an outdoor cat and Mr p has maybe 4 molars (teeth) and I trim his claws- so no, he is to the best of my abilities not destroying local bird communities). We bonded more than we had our first year and we enjoyed so many moments. Even the neighbors know you (P). You are a permanent pasture ornament, like a pretty pony with a fabulous retirement fund. I can’t remember the exact time it started- but I know that you have slept slung around my forearm for at least a year now- and for that I thank you. The sweet tenderness of your touch- even if it’s pawing me with your claws ever so slightly because your kibble mountain went dry. The incensent sweet chirps you mutter even in moments where I’d love peace and quite- give me some of the fondest memories. Yes- you were a cat (pus), but we had QUITE the banter I’d say 😌. I could read you like a book little P and listen to what you have to say- but I LOVE following you through a walk. I’ve never met a cat who walks with my on my late night adventures- and yes, I do have the receipts. Mr. P (along with Ted, who we all know is my birth baby), have carried me through so many silly nights where I’ve discovered myself. There truly is nothing like a few glasses of wine and following my midnight kitty who guides me through his chirp and eyes- watching his primal tendencies, observing his focus in the dark; of course with the aid of the moon. I never feel more primal than leaning into my animals instincts and following P into the darkness of nature- trusting his instincts to keep us all safe. March 9th- approximately 9 days until Ps expiration date- I write this about him as he lays next to me outside in the grass and purring as I let my eyes water. Thinking of these deeply intimate times we have shared. I then set my phone down and noticed he wanted to show me around. He led me so methodically through the construction field next to our house- where I assume he spent his times at night while I sleep; thinking of when he’ll be back to call and cherp, where he might find comfort under the warmth of my arm - where he always rests his paw on. We wandered through, he rolled (as he loves to do- dirty bastard!) and enjoyed himself as I followed him, trotting behind his footsteps. We walked till I got tired (had to tinkle on the way home of course) and as I sat in the grass with my faithful ted besides me- Mr. P comes jaunting up (always loyal) and joins me home. I write this now but I can’t WAIT to snuggle him. I love you P.

2024.05.26 05:40 woahwuh My ex was a big people pleaser

Literally my ex was a people pleaser and she always used to seek validation and attention. She never used to accept her mistakes, she never made me feel so special like i did to her. She never accepted her mistake and all the problems were in me, she had a huge list of problems lmao. She literally just accepted her mistake when she cheated on me and double dated me. She was dancing with me in our afterparty while she was having a new guy online from some other state as her boyfriend, and afterwards she gave me the reason that i could not break up from her so there was no other way of making me leave her, like dude wth. I used to forgive her many times, Our relationship almost lasted for 8 years but we were very on and off because in those 8 years there might me more than 8+ third persons who came in our relationship because of her, she always used to let guys in our relationship. She cannot hurt other guy's feelings for me but will definitely hurt my feelings for other guys. I forgive her many times because of those other guys, i also forgot her cheating but she didnt stop, new guys kept on coming in her friend circle and she wanted me to be ok with all her guys friends like how can someone be ok with so many people? and that always used to end in a dispute. I know i am a fool over here to stay with her for such a long time thinking that she will change herself, BUT NO she didnt.. Although i became the wrong person here that i dont trust her, how can someone trust when there are so many third persons there who keep coming. No one liked her, neither my family nor my friends but still because of attachment i stayed with her. I never talked to any other girl in those 8 years even as a friend , i am self focused and dont need anyone just few people around me. Whenever we ended up in a fight or a breakup, she would run to any other guys in no time for validation and puking all the things that happened, she always needs a guy by her side, if it wasnt me then she looked for some other, She also used to entertain other guys whom she know that they like her, she is so stupid i really hate that girl. When you know that some guy likes you , why would you entertain them being in a relationship with me. We stopped talking from february and i have gone no contact, but 1.5 months back she lost her dog so she again came back to me for emotional support, i made her feel normal and relaxed but again left her when i thought that everything is ok now, because i didnt wanted to stay with her anymore. I feel sad that i lost a big relationship and i dont believe in true love anymore.
TL;DR I now sleep in peace after leaving her

2024.05.26 05:31 pumpkinspicyroll (Divestment) Political Example of the day: Clarence Thomas Just Set Civil Rights Back 70 Years

(Divestment) Political Example of the day: Clarence Thomas Just Set Civil Rights Back 70 Years
Herein we will use a political and justice example in USA to discuss & serves as a reminder to Black Women and Girls.
From birth, we’ve been brainwashed to center Black Men & how Non-Black Men have set up systems to emasculate, crush, harm, and defeat the Black Male. But we forget the Black Male is still a Man. And Men should fight & build for themselves, not recruiting women to be their attack dogs. Black girls from birth are actively trained to put their issues to the side, we are taught to believe Black Male issues means “Black Community” issues. And if we solve the Black Man’s issues it will automatically transfer & uplift the entire Black Race. WRONG.
Please use this political cultural moment to see why fighting & centering “Black Male” problems or issues as “Black Community” WILL NOT BENEFIT YOU.
HISTORY: Numerous tribal Leaders, Black African Men, centuries ago, participated in Trans-Atlantic Slave trade. While Chattel North & South American Slavery, including West Indies by Europeans was on another level of dehumanization compared to traditional West African slavery. It still does not absolve the fact Black (African) Men played a role in the demise & chain reaction of the ongoing global humiliation of their community, descendants, children, women and people.
Now in Modern times, these African leaders aka predominately the men are still fighting corruption, warlords, or being bribed & deceived by Western (White) Leaders or Eastern (Asia/Russia) over who should have major soft power & neo-colonize Africa still.
Then over in USA. You have all seen TIME AND TIME AGAIN. This is what you get when you scream so hard to prioritize uplifting & investing in the “black boys” narrative. Or how hard the “Black Man” has it. While I don’t deny some truth to that. B/c there definetly systems in olace that set Black people, men, boys, girls back.
I still want you to see a reoccurring event & theme. You see what happens when these Black boys/men do get educated or become successful? Primarily in key positions of society to cause major change. Whether it’s in Africa to USA. It’s either selling out their community, dating/marrying a non-black woman & putting back wealth in other communities, cheating on the side with one (cough Dr. King), or in this case the highest court in USA, Judge Clarence Thomas working against Black American communities in South Carolina to appease his White Wife & Republican party as a token. A slap in the face. Compared to the Black American Woman judge, The HIGHLY ESTEEMED Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Mind you she has a white male husband
DO NOT EVER FEEL GUILTY as a Black Woman or Girl if you disregard the nonsense & issues Black Males face. B/c when you give in to the community pressure to invest in them, from 15th century when they failed Black people collectively, up until present day 2024, THE BLACK MAN in KEY POSITIONS OF SOCIETY, will ALWAYS work against his own. THEY WILL NEVER build their community. They destroy it or ignore it whenever they get into prime positions. Impulsive & cannot think longterm or for the collective good of their people. At some point, even I must admit, we cannot blame Whites or Non-Black people for these traitorous black male behaviour. Never forget that in any situation. They are selfish & self-serving.
That is why society attack us the most as Black Woman, mentally. Mental strength supersedes physical strength in my opinion. It is the Black Woman that is keeping up hope for the Black Race. But it is time we center ourselves & ignore these men when making longterm decisions when it comes to anything you deem important (community, individual, children, etc.)
They will always disappoint you. History has shown you this yet again. Thank you Justice Clarence Thomas for serving as that reminder.

2024.05.26 04:40 FlaxbopFleetfoot 29 [M4F] NC/USA - Seeking Fellow Adventurer for a Journey Through D&D Realms, Animal Shelters, and Hockey Stadiums!

Hello there! Welcome to what is likely going to be a long, rambly post. I'm going to structure this as though I were answering job interview questions, because let's face it, dating is a glorified job interview for a relationship/getting laid.
Oh, and to save some of you the time reading this (though I did spend a while writing it mind you), I'm 5'5, and it's perfectly fine if that doesn't work for you. I have preferences too! Anyway...
Tell me About Yourself.
Ah, this one is a classic to start off with, glad you asked (or told me to elaborate? Same idea)!
First and foremost, I am a nerd. My favorite day of the week is Sunday, because that's when my D&D game happens (It's actually Pathfinder, but I say D&D because most people are not into the hobby), and this account is named after the character I play in that very game! Feel free to ask for more details at the risk of an overly excited explanation. I also play video games, usually single-player CRPGs, but lately I've been playing Hades and I like being on voice call when I do that.
Professionally I'm... still in school. Here's a lengthy, detailed discussion as to why that is: anxiety sucks. Phew, that was so lengthy, glad that's over! Anyway, I'm a nuclear engineering major and plan to graduate in 4 semesters. In all seriousness, I don't mind going over the full story once we're talking.
What are Some of Your Hobbies?
Lists are helpful for this one! So here we go:
What do You Want in a Potential Partner?
Someone who's not an asshole, shares some interests with me, willing to do some basic stuff (sharing a picture, voice calling, video calling eventually) and treats me with respect. Honestly, not a long list. Physically, I would prefer someone who's of a thinner-average body type as that is what I am. I've made exceptions to this before though, so if you feel that I'm irresistible and not entirely obnoxious, feel free to reach out.
What I want the most though? Just intimacy. I think that's what we all want at the end. That is why this post is marked as NSFW because I am definitely not opposed to it going that way, but I also go at the pace of my partner and respect their boundaries.
What do You Look Like?
I'm 5'5 as mentioned before, 125 lbs, white, brown hair, green eyes, and have glasses that might as well be made of aquarium glass. Hopefully that gives you a vivid enough picture for now, but an actual picture is worth 1000 words so once we've exchanged a few messages I can share that.
And that, dear reader, is the end of my hopefully well-formatted and not-at-all-obnoxious wall of text. Hope you enjoyed reading it, and I hope to hear from you! If I don't, have a great whatever time of day it happens to be in your timezone!

2024.05.26 04:31 LaserBatBunnyUnder I didn't take my meds today, so let me tell you about the worst company ever <3

I didn't take my meds so lemme tell you about my time working at the worst company ever <3
Hi! I haven't taken my ADHD or anxiety meds so my mind has been filled with unfortunate memories of the past all day. I don't really have that many close friends, so I'm gonna tell my story here.
And before I divulge, I do wanna clarify a few things:
  1. The company involved is a company that is pretty much the only company in its field. I'm going to try to describe my position as much as I can without revealing anything. But basically, they were a hospital stock supplier. My position specifically-- they would send a random collection of workers across the US on a plane to a specific hospitals to do inventory work for them. The actions varied widely as at the time I was leaving the company, they were "branching out" and trying to offer "new services."
  2. I'm 23 years old and I'm nonbinary. I was born a girl, but I never really felt connected to girlhood alone. I liked watching old kids movies where there was a "Tom boy" girl who pretended to be a boy to hang out with the guys. I know I'm not really a man, and I'm not really a woman. Just a person. I use they/them pronouns. When I was younger and more naïve, I thought if I kindly tried to educate people, they'd be open to learn. This is so important to the ensuing story :))))) oh boy. At the time I worked for the company though, I was a freshly turned 20 year old and had only live in Baltimore for a year. I lived in a really tiny southern town my whole life before that. I'm very much a "cold water" swimmer ykwim?
  3. The majority of my coworkers were older than me. I was the youngest worker on the team period. Like in the roster of workers they had to choose from, I was the youngest with the second youngest being 22. Im bad at math, but the average age was somewhere around late 20s, with a solid number of older 40, 50, 60 year old coworkers.
Anyways, I'm gonna divide this up in terms of personal journey.
At the beginning, I was very bright eyed and excited and "whoa holy shit I get to try the country at 20!!!" I was so excited because there were so many people in my hometown who had never even left the south, let alone the coast.
I introduced myself to all my coworkers like this: "HI! My name is Dingo! My pronouns are they/them!"
To which, the following would happen--
Coworker: oh! What's that mean?
Me: it just means rather than saying "her stuff is over there," you would say, "oh Dingo? Their stuff is over there."
Very simple. Very easy. So I thought.
Over the next few days I thought everything was cool. Well, one day I forgot my medication in the hotel room and asked a manager to drive me back. She inoccuously asked me what it was for and I just told her it was ADHD. You would have thought I told her it was for some secret sleeper agent I'm hiding because about 4 days later, we get a new worker who they actually let in on the gossip, and she comes back to me telling me that the manager was telling her I was, "a psychopath," and "dangerous."
Despite this! They kept me around.
I had to take somewhat longer bathroom breaks because I have IBS. It's really painful and I don't like talking about it to managers because???? 1. Gross, 2. I've had a manager bully me out of a previous position because of that exact issue. She would follow me to the bathroom and time me and report the time to the head of our dept. She accused me of time theft and I was let go.
Well, instead of that, these grown ass adults were giggling to each other about how "I must have covid."
All of that was within the first month of working there btw .-.
So that first month I was at a "stationed" job. There's two types of jobs-- the stationed job is long term. You live out of a hotel room for months at a time while you report to a specific site. The travel jobs only took at maximum three weeks at a time. I finally worked long enough that I passed their "trial" and got sent to Atlanta where I met easily the most militaristic manager ever.
It was my first ever job, I was sent into the ICU, and was told to count an entire wall of bandages and syringes. Which like, no problem right? Except I wasn't counting fast enough so the group started leaving me behind. And by the time it was lunch time, it had gotten to me that the manager didn't like me BECAUSE I counted too slow.
Again, first day.
Months following I met more people and introduced myself the same way each time, gave the explanation. But no one ever listened or respected my pronouns. They respected my name at least but my dead name was on the emails, so everyone knew that I was trans and I liked a different name. And people would make such a huge fucking deal of it.
"Why don't you just identify as a Tom boy?"
"Cause I just don't vibe with it."
"What's the difference between you and a woman?"
"I don't really abide by "womanhood." There's no easy way to explain it."
I tried to answer all their questions. But eventually, on a job site, that same... "friend" came back to me and told me everything that everyone had been saying behind my back up to that point. According to staff I was:
I confronted someone on this and she just goes, "well, you're really mysterious. People don't know how to talk to you."
This isn't even the worse part.
I got stranded in the North Carolina Airport and when I used my emergency funds to go with my co-workers to split a hotel room because I was scared and I didn't want to be alone, the head of the department patronized me. He said, "oh Dingo, you're usually smarter than this."
This was a fucking 80 something year old man btw
And near the end of my tenure! I had a mental breakdown because my friends cut me off while I was on a trip, so I had no one to talk to, and I was in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. I begged to go home early so I could check myself in because I was genuinely considering suicide. And at the time I was a people pleaser so in the email I beat myself up. I said that, "I know it doesn't reflect well on me and I know I have those three assignments coming, but I'm having a medical emergency and I need to go home right now."
6 days after inpatient, I check my email.
"You're right. It does reflect badly on you."
I quit three months after that. I got one last job that paid like shit.
It wasn't all bad. I met a very lovely Finnish couple. The lady spoke more English and she actually understood and respected my pronouns.
"I don't understand why other languages use gendered language. In Finnish, it's not really a problem!"
I had a few friends. Although, these "friends" weren't really friend so much as they were the people who were the warmest to me. Like one girl who was very religious was very kind to me. But she also told me in private that she doesn't agree "with my identity," thinks it's because of some fathemother wound, and told me everyone made fun of her because she's friends with me. So I stopped hanging out with her.
The only other friend I had told me that "people want to hurt you when you do that (correct my pronouns."
For context on that: once in a while-- hardly once a day, I would have gently caught someone saying "she" and just say "they." As a reminder. I didn't think anyone was doing it maliciously. But at that point I was so fucking tired of all the bullying and harassment and the abuse I just looked her in her eyes and I said--
"Do it."
My other coworker ended up having to get between us because he saw I was getting genuinely angry, which was uncharacteristic for me at the time. And every time I think of that day, I get upset. Because afterwards she bought a donut to my hotel room. Didn't really say the words "I'm sorry," just looked at me with these wet ass dog eyes. I took the donut and slammed the door.
My only other grievance is there was a couple working with the company who were SO TOXIC. The girl hated my guts cause the guy liked me... too much. She would spread stupid rumors and say that my "🐈 smells like skunk 🐈." (Becuase we were paid poorly, and no one would drive me to the stores cause whoa howdy it's hard to sit in a car with someone who you talk shit about surprise surprise; so I had to buy cheap ass natural deodorant off of door dash a lot when I couldn't just walk to a pharmacy or a store.
The guy was a monster. While in the relationship with her he kept coming onto me. I liked him as a friend. I thought he was kinda cute at the time. He was mellow and really kind but that's the thing about dogs: you can't tell who's domesticated and who's feral.
I'm not gonna get too into it, as it was graphic and violent. But after I quit I heard he was single and reached out to him. We went out on a date and he assaulted me. The DA didn't have enough evidence for a case so they threw it out.
I hate. That company. With every atom of my being. If the next time I say their name out loud I would be able to instantly disintegrate them into ash, or at try least bankrupt them, I fucking would.
The statute of limitations passed on all of this so even though I could probably dig up the original emails from the dept head, it wouldn't matter. They've gone through six lawsuits and changed their name each time. And now they've been acquiesced, so its a snowballs chance in hell I would ever get close to litigation. But man, ain't it great to dream?

2024.05.26 04:29 Useful_Term2503 Scared for the future and looking for advice

I'm sure I could write a lot more, but I'll try to keep things simple (and I'll leave a tl;dr summary at the end). At the moment, I'm a summer associate at a firm in New York City. Before leaving for law school, which is not exactly in an urban metropolis, I lived and worked in DC for a few years after finishing college.
In the year leading up to leaving for law school, I was pretty content. I was newly married, and my ex and I had planned for law school to be a tough but manageable chapter in our life. The plan was for me to go to school in the DC area or for us to return there after law school. Things were still largely in pandemic mode, and by virtue of the pandemic at that point, I pretty much let most of my old relationships fade. Outside of work, I was only really in contact with my not-exactly-warm family, my then-wife, and my best friend from college. I was fine with that.
Then things fell apart. I learned that my wife had cheated on me with my best friend years ago (I'll spare you the details), and both hid it from me. Things got messy, and one thing led to another, and the brief marriage and my only real friendship fell apart (the last I heard, they live together in DC now). So I changed plans, left DC for law school with no plans to ever return in any meaningful way. I had lived in that city for much of my young adulthood, and by the time I left, there was no one left in my personal life who cared enough to say goodbye.
With a lot of hard work and regular therapy, I left for my Midwestern law school knowing no one there and rebuilt a new life. Making friends in law school was hard, but I did it. At the same time, things haven't really felt whole. There are people who care and who I care about, but I'd say that I'm at the periphery of any social group I am in. I'll get invited to large gatherings when people have them, but I'd say I'm the friend folks would text when they're in my city, not the friend they would travel to my city specifically to see. Similarly, I don't have any relationships that come close to the ones I thought I had in DC.
I also did well enough in my first year that I (correctly) assumed I would be able to get a Big Law job in New York City. I accepted a good offer, not really thinking what it all would have meant. I suppose I inadvertently assumed that law school was a transition period, and life was something that would happen once I was done. I mean, I haven't dated or really laid any of the life roots I was laying when I was initially planning to leave for law school.
But now I'm here in New York City, getting my first real concrete glimpse into what my life might be like after law school, and I'm coming to the terrifying realization that there isn't just a pre-packaged version of my life waiting for me at the other side of law school graduation. I like the people in my summer class well enough, and I like that there are a lot of other people in my law school coming to New York City. But I've also been talking to some of the junior associates, and I guess I didn't actively realize how much I am starting life from scratch when I leave law school and how starting out in Big Law doesn't exactly give me a whole lot of free time and energy to build a well-adjusted life from scratch. Plus, because my law school is pretty far from the city, it's not like I can work on laying down roots in any meaningful way before I come back next year (of course, all contingent that I don't fumble a return offer).
At this point in my writing this, I'm no longer sure why I even started writing. But earlier today, when I was walking through a park in a new city where I had never been, seeing a couple roughly my age sitting with a baby and a dog, I realized that in an alternate timeline, that could've been me. And somewhere along the line, I forgot that that life isn't just waiting for me around the corner.
Any advice on how to deal with these realizations would be much appreciated.
[TL;DR: My life fell apart right before law school, and I basically used law school as a distraction. Now I'm realizing that my life is still my life, and I'm terrified of how to start from scratch after I graduate and start a Big Law job. I'd love any advice.]

2024.05.26 04:18 moonrider18 Contradictory Advice

There's a lot of advice for healing CPTSD out there, and a lot of it is contradictory. =(
On the table below, each piece of advice is paired up with another piece of advice that contradicts it. These bits of advice come from various sources. You might hear them on this sub, from therapists, or from "normal" people IRL.
Many of these things are really helpful in some contexts but they're hurtful in other contexts. Oftentimes people don't understand vital bits of context. (It's almost like if someone asks for directions and somebody says "Turn left!" without regard to where they are or where they're going!)
In some contexts, two pieces of advice merely seem contradictory but actually they're complimentary. But even in that case it's important to note how confusing this all is, especially when CPTSD makes it hard to think straight!
Without further ado, here's the list.
Trust your instincts. Your abusers programmed you with bad instincts; don’t trust them.
Trust your emotions. Your emotions are out of whack; they don’t match your present-day reality.
Open up about your pain; it will help you find supportive people. Be careful about self-disclosure; it attracts abusive people. Also, trauma-dumping is really rude.
Reach out for help. Don’t bother reaching out. You can’t really rely on anyone. You have to do the work yourself.
Trust your therapist. Question your therapist.
Just be patient. Healing takes time. Stay the course. If you’re not making much progress, try a new therapist or a new modality.
In therapy, things usually get worse before they get better. Just keep going. If therapy is making you feel worse, try a different kind of therapy.
Therapy is hard work. Keep working at it, even if it’s painful and exhausting. Don’t push yourself too hard in therapy. Healing takes time. Take breaks if you need to.
When choosing a therapist, pay attention to their credentials. You want somebody who advertises themselves as trauma-informed. You also want the highest possible level of education; a psychologist outranks a mere therapist. When choosing a therapist, credentials don’t matter. Everybody calls themselves “trauma-informed” whether they’re informed or not. Formal education doesn’t really matter; what matters is the personal touch. Try several therapists and pick the one that really connects with you personally.
If you’re struggling, call a crisis/suicide hotline like 988. I’ve called them a few times and they helped me. Don’t ever bother with suicide hotlines. They’re staffed by overworked volunteers who won’t do much.
If you’re really struggling, try an inpatient stay. Inpatient facilities are often a waste of money, and some places are downright abusive.
Try to find a supportive romantic partner. If you can find somebody like that, it can seriously speed up your recovery. Don’t date until you’ve done a lot of healing. Dating is too difficult when you’re still in pain, and besides it’s not fair to expect your partner to deal with your problems.
The right person will love you even if you don’t love yourself. Nobody will love you until you learn to love yourself.
If you’re struggling at work, tell your employer that you have PTSD and ask them to make reasonable accommodations. Never tell your employer that you have PTSD. They’ll fire you. Even if that’s illegal, they’ll just find some excuse to fire you anyway.
Healthy Anger is a vital part of healing. Anger helps us ward off abuse. Anger is pointless. Anger is like holding onto a hot stone, hoping the other person gets burned.
Healthy Grief is a vital part of healing. Thinking about what we’ve lost helps us figure out how to move forward. Don’t obsess over the past. Try to focus on the present.
Don’t waste time with superficial connections. Your real friends are the people who can handle the idea of discussing your trauma. Very few people can deal with your trauma and it’s unreasonable to expect anyone to deal with it. Superficial connections may be the best you can hope for right now. If you have to wear a mask to avoid isolation, then wear a mask.
It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of you. It does matter what others think of you; humans are social creatures and we can’t do this alone.
Be authentic. People will appreciate authenticity. Hide your true self. Authenticity just attracts critics and shamers.
Be vulnerable. Maintain strong boundaries.
Your traumatic past has given you a warped view of reality. The truth is, most people are much kinder than your family of origin. Have faith. Society itself is abusive. Even after you escape your family of origin, you’re likely to be abused elsewhere if you’re not careful.
Get a cat. It’s super helpful to have a living being around that loves you unconditionally. Don’t get a cat. You don’t want to give yourself extra responsibilities when you’re already struggling with the basics.
Keep a consistent schedule. For instance, wake up at the same time every morning and go to bed at the same time every night. Be flexible. Pay attention to how you feel in the moment. If you need to sleep in, sleep in. Don’t obligate yourself to keep arbitrary schedules.
Avoid triggers as much as you can. Don’t avoid triggers. Instead, face them head-on until they don’t trigger you anymore.
It doesn’t matter how much money you make. It does matter how much money you make. The way society is structured, it’s almost impossible to heal without money.
Find ways to earn more money. That will help you heal faster. Find ways to heal faster. That will help you earn more money.
Read up on other people’s trauma experiences. It’ll help you feel less alone. Don’t read too much about other people’s trauma experiences. They can retraumatize you.
Read a lot of books about trauma. Don’t read too many books about trauma; that can retraumatize you.
You understand trauma because you’ve been through it. Use that knowledge to help others. Don’t get caught up trying to “fix” people. Focus on yourself first. If you get too involved with other people you can exhaust yourself.
See a psychiatrist. Get on meds. It may take awhile to find the right meds, but it’s worth it. Stay away from meds. In most cases they don’t really work and they can lead to side-effects and dependency problems.
We know meds work because we have experts backing them up, like the American Psychiatric Association and the FDA. If you read the work of Dr. Irving Kirsch and others like him, you’ll see that the studies are poorly done and the drug companies wield too much influence over the APA, FDA etc.. (Vaccines are reliable but psychiatry is something else.)
I was stuck for awhile, but then I tried Modality X and it really worked! I tried Modality X and it didn’t work for me at all.
Persistence is key! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.
It gets better! Look at me, for instance. Five years ago I felt absolutely hopeless, but I committed myself to healing and now I’ve got a job and a dog and a spouse and overall life is pretty great! Honestly, I don’t know if things get better for everyone. I’ve been trying to heal for ten goddamned years at this point and I’m still a mess. I tried like 6 therapists and 3 different modalities. I don’t know what to do.
If you put in the work, I guarantee you’ll get better. The truth is, there’s a lot we don’t know about trauma recovery, and there’s an element of luck involved. It’s possible to work hard and still not make any progress. Life isn’t fair.
Consider all of the above, is it any wonder that so many of us struggle to heal? =(
EDIT: Formatting etc.

2024.05.26 04:12 strawberryasia dramas where the male lead likes the female lead more but doesn’t really show it

i’m looking for detailed recommendations for kdramas similar to "lovely runner." i’m particularly drawn to shows where i can become deeply emotionally invested in the characters, storyline, and soundtrack. i especially enjoy when the male lead is more "in love" with the female lead but doesn’t openly show it, which is what i’m looking for specifically and we see it lovely runner!

  2. hometown cha-cha-cha
    • loved the charming and heartwarming storyline, the male lead's understated love for the female lead.
  3. what’s wrong with secretary kim
    • loved the chemistry between the leads and the male lead’s hidden affection.
  4. my love from the star

2024.05.26 04:08 896_Diffident_Monad 26 [M4F] GA/TN/SC, USA Looking for my better half Car shows, custom PCs, gaming, anime, adventures, travel...a life together! 😁

(My profile is tagged N-S-F-W because I also post these in dirtyr4r since some have actually had luck finding something serious there. Figured it's worth a shot, haha.)
I'm searching for the kind of wonderful woman who shares most of my interests below in addition to her hobbies and interests, who's also goofy, likes to playfully insult each other, and also believes in open and honest communication. I believe with that, we can work out any problems when they arise. 💛
• I'm a gamer, car guy, and maybe one day, a musician too. I enjoy anime, nature, going on little adventures, swimming, traveling... I wanna see the world with you before all the beautiful sights are gone. - Current games I've focused on lately is Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic. If you wanna play those together, that would be awesome! I would also eventually like to play other things together like Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Terraria, etc. - My taste is music is nearly everything except country and today's rap. To name a few bands/musicians I really love: Led Zeppelin, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Queens of the Stone Age, Mac Demarco, Them Crooked Vultures, and Metronomy.
• I want to dance with you. In the living room, bedroom, back yard, in the park, almost anywhere. I enjoy doing romantic things and expressing my love. I love deep conversations that distract us from the passing of time.
• I'm a dog person because my allergies chose to target cats for whatever reason, so there's that. 😅
• I'm monogamous and don't have children currently, but they're in my future plans, probably within the next 6 years. I want to spend plenty of time with, well it might be you, and enjoy the best of life as a couple, and then as spouses, traveling and whatnot, before we start a family. 🤗
• I'm really hoping to find someone who's also into dirty humor (amongst other forms of humor) and has mutual...interests 😏 so we have even better compatibility in the bedroom (and sometimes away from home too). I usually have a high labido, but I only want to get intimate when we're both comfortable and ready. 👉👈
• Specs for those who would like them: - 6 feet tall (about 183 cm). - 219 lbs and dropping (about 99 kg). ~ My figure is very dad-bod at the moment, but apparently it comes with a nice ass (so I'm told). ~ This is close to the most I've ever weighed, and I'm not happy with it. I'm targeting somewhere around 170 lbs (about 77 kg). - Brunette/dirty blonde, kept relatively short. - Blue eyes. - Caucasian.
• I have learned the hard way that I do have a type. I used to date outside that type, and it only led to hurt feelings, so I don't want to repeat that. That being said, my type is Caucasian or East Asian ranging from petite to average body type. I don't love going to the gym, but if you have or want a membership I would be open to going together. 😁 I apologize if my preferences differ from who you are. You're all beautiful people, regardless! Please love yourself and enjoy the time you're given in life! 💛
Chat with ya soon! 😁
