2024.06.02 09:06 KinseyMarieB Obituary Disagreement

Tl;dr: My father’s new wife and I disagree on his obituary. Instead of it turning into a huge argument, is it reasonable for me to just take out a second obituary? Is that even a thing?
My father recently passed and is survived by his third wife, who didn’t even bother staying in the hospital when he was on his death bed. They fought and talked about divorce for a good year or two before he got ill and passed, but now she is really embracing the part of the grieving widow. Because they were still married she is considered next of kin and has final say over his funeral arrangements. However, she has no money, so I am footing the bill.
She wants to publish an obituary that, while kind, is rambling and talks about random things like how much he loved fish fries (I don’t remember him ever going to a single fish fry). I created a very traditional one that mentioned those who preceded him in death and those who survived. I included my mother in the list of preceded family; they were married for 27 years before she passed away and never divorced. I wrote her into the obit as “Jane Doe, previous wife and mother of his children.” I listed his current wife at the very beginning of the list of survivors as “Current wife Julie Doe.” My dad’s wife told me doesn’t believe my mom should be included and is fighting adamantly against it. I honestly think that she wants to omit her for the sake of playing the grieving widow at the funeral - how is she going to make it about her and talk about how much my father loved her in their 3 years of marriage when my mother’s name is mentioned?
Anyway, she will get final say over the obituary through the funeral home, who will post it online at the very least, and send it to a newspaper if she decides to pay for it (I refuse to pay for one that omits my mother’s name). My question is - is it unheard of for families to publish two obituaries for a deceased loved one if they can’t decide? I still look back at my mother’s and grandmother’s online obituaries, and want to have a peaceful recollection when I look at my father’s.

2024.06.02 08:57 LittleMagicKnight Are there any "adopted" idol groups that found more success with their new companies than their old ones?

Apologies if "adopted" isn't really the right word here, but given how often events like this take place in the industry had me wondering; are there any Kpop groups that found more success with their new companies than their old ones?
Even for a casual follower of kpop like myself, it's easy to recognize that once a kpop contract ends, idols who wish to continue their careers USUALLY (not counting groups who were under companies that went...under of course) have the option to either renew with their current company or sign with a new one. We've seen this before with B2ST/BEAST and their transition to HIGHLIGHT, Eunha/SinB/Umji from gfriend forming Viviz, GOT7, Brown Eyed Girls, Block B, and quite a few more that I'm sure have done similar. However, even after signing with these new companies, there's no guarantee that they will generate the same buzz or make similar waves with their music regardless of whether or not they can keep their old name. This of course could be due to a variety of reasons of course such as new companies not having enough funds for extended promotions, fans moving onto different emerging kpop groups, idols wanting to take a break from group activities and having the freedom to do their own things, etc. A good example of this I think is HIGHLIGHT where while the group members continued releasing music under a new company, the buzz they generated wasn't as big as when they were B2ST perhaps due to the name change and only having the following of their most dedicated fans rather than casual ones (military service I'm sure didn't help either). The only exception I can think of to this is Block B whom I believe found greater success with their new company, but of course they are the exception and not exactly the norm.
The reason I ask is because the most recent example I can think of this is of course, LOONA and the recent release of ARTMS's debut. Even for a casual follower of kpop like myself, it was difficult to miss the story surrounding the members of LOONA and their dispute with BlockBerryCreative. Companies screwing over idols is, unfortunately, a common story throughout the industry and while it was nice to learn that all the members would continue being idols, I didn't really have the confidence that having the members spread apart across different companies would do them any favors. Lo and behold, strong fan reception to the releases of Chuu's solo, Loossemble, and most recently Yves and ARTMS's albums (no seriously, I am legitimately impressed with how good sounds) have blown that conception completely out of the water. All were releases that felt like their own thing yet still contained that LOONA vibe that I'm sure many of their fans missed.
I won't lie, witnessing it felt pretty cool. Whether it be because the LOONA fandom is just that strong or because they gained new passionate fans from the drama (or both?) it was easy to see that the buzz surrounding their releases was still there and as strong as ever, if not stronger. Seriously, it was like signing to new companies did not hold them back at all.
All this of course, leads me back to the original question: were there any groups that found greater success with their new companies than their old ones? Curious to know which ones you guys can find!

2024.06.02 08:57 Prakash127_0_0_1 LLM doesn't include the context from the vector database, and hence the frontend gets the generic response. The second run, which includes the context, produces the desired output but doesn't reach the frontend.

I am creating a chatbot for my portfolio website. I am using Next.js, OpenAI API, Vercel AI SDK, Langchain and AstraDB.
As I hit request my route, LLM runs twice. The first run of LLM contains no context that I provided and the answer is just simple with no information of mine. But the second run contains the context I provided from the AstraDb vector database and I get what I want.
For example: I write 'who are you', the first answer is 'I am a language model AI designed to assist with answering questions and engaging in conversation. How can I help you today?' and the second answer is 'I am Prakash Banjade.........'.
But on the frontend, I get the first answer which is not relevant.

2024.06.02 08:53 SwitchElegant5736 Change of Name Declaration

Dear experts,
Looking for some advice.
I am an NRI (but Indian citizen), residing out of India for last seven years. There's a piece of land which my great grandfather had bought (perhaps in 1940s), which after his passing, was with the government. At that time, he used a different surname, which my grandfather changed to our current surname and there's no documentation available to prove that change. (which means for the last two generations - my father and me), we used this new surname since our birth.
My great grandfather had nominated his grandchildren (my father and uncle) for the land ownership. Now, government has released the land and my father's name is written with the old surname (with my great grandfather used). In the meanwhile, my father too, passed away and now I am his legal heir. I wish to legally declare about this (i.e., the surname used on the ownership papers is wrong and it should be changed to our new surname). I cannot use the 'change of name' form here as I have used my current surname since my birth (there's no 'old' surname for me).
Could someone help me understand if there's a legal way to declare this (e.g., an affidavit?). Since I am out of India, I would try completing this in our local Indian consulate.
Thanks in advance

2024.06.02 08:50 Actual-Tradition-233 [f4a/gm] the witches doll

My name is shemi dreamer. And i am....was a witch. over 2000 years ago i was well beloved in my village, i was adored and beloved before i healed their sick, took care of there animals and children, defended them from malicious partys and dangerous animals and was friendly. All i asked for in return was to be able to mess with them whenever i wanted. Prank them, do small curses to make funny stuff happen... sure some found me annoying, but i was never malicious.....then the witch trials happened. When it reached my village, at first everyone protested it, and protected me.... but they sewed doubt about me, and slowly they turned Agenst me...... the thing about witches is we can't be killed. Our souls will just find a new, recently dead body and revive us.....so they started trapping our souls. Through some means, they tricked our souls into thinking objects were dead bodies. And since a object can't die... we're forever stuck. I was trapped in a plush anthropomorphic fox. Trapped in complete as it for over 2000 years. But I wasn't just doing nothing...i slowly collected mana in the air over the course of the 2000 years untill i finally had enough....i had been past around over the years. First to guard me in case I managed to escape...but as people stopped believing in witches, i became a myth, just a artifact from a old time....then that was forgotten and i was now just a toy passed down through generations...finally it was my last family....i finally had enough but..... when i activated the soul swapping spell, i was handed to this womens daughter instead of her! Now im in a little girls body, and i can't just leave.....but it's better then being a plush i suppose.
(Hiya! If your still reading your probably interested! I'd be playing the witch(obviously) in the little girls body and you'd play the original little girl trapped in the doll, and her family. We can discuss more on pms)

2024.06.02 08:27 Ubud_bamboo_ninja New hypothesis for Fermi paradox explanation. Reason why other star system's conscious life forms might never reach an essential level of technical development could be philosophical. That's why "aliens don't come".

New hypothesis for Fermi paradox explanation. Reason why other star system's conscious life forms might never reach an essential level of technical development could be philosophical. That's why
I do this research of humanity's philosophy earliest sources and read through Plato's works again and again. It's amazing and I want to share some "shower thoughts" about Plato. Couldn't imagine I would say like that ever. But it will be a small input into Fermi paradox discussion. First I'll tell you a short story from the ancient times and at the end I'll give you new interesting reason why some Intelligent Life forms all over the world might be extremely introvert and solipsistic and not technically developed. Why there might be Intelligent civilizations but they never reach essential technical and philosophical progress. Here goes:
Socrates: \"George Lucas\" of 2300 years ago.
Have you heard about Theuth? The ancient philosopher who sort of “invented” main sciences earlier than 7000 years ago. During the times 100-200 years before Ancient Kingdom of Egypt.
That info comes from Plato's dialogue "Protagoras." In the dialogue, Socrates recounts a tale about Protagoras meeting with a king named Amanthus. During this meeting, Protagoras tells the king a story about a mythical figure named Teuth or Theuth (sometimes spelled as Thoth or Thouth), who was a deity associated with writing, wisdom, and knowledge in ancient Egyptian mythology.
https://preview.redd.it/aavaqnnyq34d1.png?width=668&format=png&auto=webp&s=6db062bfefc5a0c302f3ff37dbb9f8493ca683ed
According to the story, Theuth presented the king with various inventions, including mathematics, astronomy, and the alphabet. Theuth claimed that his inventions would improve the wisdom and memory of the people who used them. However, Socrates raises questions about the true nature of these inventions and whether they would truly benefit humanity as Theuth claimed, leading to a discussion about the nature of knowledge and its effects on society.
When reading original "Protagoras" you can find interesting dialogue of the King Amanthus and Theuth. King Amanthus gives a very interesting thought: “When Theuth presents him a technique of writing, to preserve knowledge, Amanthus asks him a question: Do you think you invented a good thing to preserve knowledge and make future generations wiser? You are wrong. By writing down the real knowledge we all keep inside our minds now, by taking it out of your head and your real experience, you will give birth to “wise men” that got their knowledge from written texts, they really know nothing about real life, their knowledge will become useless, and they will lose the true connection with gods. So you think you bring goodness by that, but you only make people loose real believes and knowledge.”
Now a new thought why some civilizations from other star systems might never reach our level of development:
Becoming complex and developed, people are still focused on real knowledge of "here and now", "See it with your own eyes" living only "now" moment and having only a personal "bag" of knowledge in their heads. Almost for 10k of years ancient humans lived developed society style, but without using any good written symbol language. Complex rituals and social activity was ruled buy structure that still passed from parents to children directly "in motion" without distortion on the way.
By becoming "wise" by writing books and computer codes we opened a "demon box" of eternal knowledge and opportunities but we are doomed to have a lot of "fake" "false" "disguised" knowledge, events and information around us that we can never be sure for 100% to be real. Though partially this info brings you benefits if you work it out enough and you are lucky enough.
Maybe a lot of "wiser" that us aliens on other planets already understood that "extra knowledge" brings this stress of creating a goal to become God. (know all) Maybe they chose to live happily without inventing printed word and alphabets. So they have no signals to send to us. Like humanity did for thousands of years before some crazy mushroomed guys started to draw symbols on those stones and caves.
Maybe our written and spoken language is a type of interdenominational parasite that occupies the mind of "good feeling fella" and makes him create all this stupid dramatic life stories to feed with its energy or something like that.
And in this world there are. lot of conscious life forms but they all are born in balance with nature, and only guys like us with story creating parasites in our heads start to develop technically for maybe a single reason: to blow up the world. And this infected types of developed civilizations are much less represented in the world. That's why Fermi paradox.
If you want to check more of same framework thought experiments about story telling nature of our reality and interdenominational alien intrusion in our every day life through story creating machine, try my other posts on Reddit or a book about basics of quantum dramaturgy.
PS: for all down voters, please remember the slogan of this sub: "We aim to elevate good research while maintaining healthy skepticism." and don't minus out the post that you just don't agree with, that might be interesting to people who are ready to hear out unusual hypothesis. If you don't agree, better leave a comment why!

2024.06.02 08:17 SuddenReturn9027 Some people acknowledge she grew up rich but we never talk about HOW rich

Right off the bat, her allowance growing was almost $3,000 ($1,000 for clothing, $1,000 for entertainment and $350 for 'grooming'). The Grande's have generational wealth. She has 7 other celebrities in the family but none have obviously ever reached her level of fame. Still, her mum is the CEO of a company that designs communication equipment for the Navy which is how Ari got to sing the national anthem at that ice hockey game and how she got to perform on Navy cruise ships (cruise ships designed especially for Navy soldiers/their family and friends) which is how she got to meet Krysten Chenoweth. She kept in touch with her since then and even got to meet the original Wicked Broadway cast at 10. Her dad owns his own graphic design firm. Her dad has also been friends with Donald Trump for years who sent them gifts when she was born and even helped name her. Her brother Frankie was already an actor and producer on Nickelodeon whilst her uncle was a Hollywood agent. She left school at 14 and when she was 15, she performed on Broadway before 'miraculously landing' Victorious. Her mum still owned the giant mansion Ariana grew up in but separately rented an apartment in New York for a year for her, Ari and Liz to live in during the musical 13/whilst she was auditioning then when she got the role, they bought another mansion in California whilst still keeping the original. Separately, I heard she lost her virginity at 15 to a boy in this musical when she was originally staying in provided accommodation but idk. Her family was also originally from New York which is where Frankie was born but moved to Florida for the birth of Ariana. When her parents got divorced when she was 8, her mum vowed she should never be on her own so was constantly surrounded with people/put in therapy which long-term may not have actually worked out the best because she seems to have grown into a narcissist/someone with a huge ego. She mentions stories like going to Disney World and crying as she was heading back to school so her mum phoned the school to say she was ill, took her straight back to Disney and booked The Animal Kingdom Hotel for them to stay in. This obviously shows their extreme wealth but also a complete disregard for Ariana to have a proper education - supported by a parent letting their child dropout at 14 and videos of her at that age, sending messages to Alexia where it looks like she's just hanging out at a studio by herself with no supervision when she should be in school/the losing her virginity because she was just allowed to live in New York with other teens at 15 without proper supervision. Even details like just letting her pig shit in her bed/her dog eating it and finding it funny or her dogs chewing up her chairs/shoes or that original makeup tutorial she did when she was 19 (the one where she looked confused all the time) which shows her literally just wiping makeup on her white carpets, shows she was not raised to have any regard for anything (her mum shared stories of buying pigs' blood/organs as a kid for Ari and Frankie to put their hands in and wipe on the walls so maybe this is something lol). If there's anything I've missed out, just let me know

2024.06.02 08:01 Fit-Chair2792 Information on the dolls used to symbolize the participants in the Decision game!

Copy and pasted from what I sent in a discord server on the topic.
ZTD and possibly 999 Spoilers ahead
Carlos (Action Figure)- a type of doll that is meant to be posed at all main joints (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, sometimes the waist) and be able to hold the pose, doesn't have any interchangeable parts and typically depicts more masculine figures (commonly superheros and other rigid designs such as mech suits are used as a basis as skin tight suits and armor are easier to model around posable joints than loose clothing)
Akane (Nendoroid)- Nendoroids are a type of collectable figure produced by Good Smile that are smaller than a standard figure often depicting characters in a "chibi" style. Most models also come with multiple replaceable parts including face plates for different poses and expressions. Good Smile did also release a general accessories pack to add extra little pieces to put on the Nendoroids which does include different color cat ears
Junpei (Voodoo Doll) - I'm sure most people already know what this is, I haven't done a lot of research on voodoo dolls or the cultures that may have used them so I don't want to say anything incorrect so imma say Google it in your own time if you wanna go in depth. This being used for Junpei is more than definitely a reference to the "For you" June doll in 999
Sean (Matryoshka)- also called a variety of names including Russian Nesting dolls, stacking dolls, and tea dolls. They were created with the intention of helping kids learn to count. Symbolically is used to represent a number of things including fertility, continuation of life, and less often; someone who is "two-faced" or has secrets.
Mira (dress up doll)- the image used in game most closely resembles a Bratz doll. Dress up dolls usually also have posable joints but the range of points of articulation varies greatly between specific models. The different outfits you can buy with them can be made from cloth and closed with velcro or be made from rubber with an open seam to slip on and off. Definitely made to be played with in a ton of scenarios that kids may come up with
Eric (baby doll)- this one doesn't require much explanation. Baby dolls were initially designed in the 1800s with ceramic heads and limbs attached to stuffed cloth torsos to be a part of "imaginative play" to give kids a more cuddly doll to use as a pretend baby instead of other common dolls that were completely made from hard material with no articulation. Modern baby dolls use soft plastic or rubber as an alternative to ceramic but still represents a baby to be taken care of. Not to be confused with "Reborn dolls" that are highly intricate pieces of art designed to look exactly like newborn babies.
Diana (Porcelain Doll)- Porcelain, while being a type of ceramic, is made from higher grade clays and fired at much hotter temperatures than normal ceramics. Dolls made from porcelain are made to be display pieces and not played with in the way a dress up doll or a baby doll would be. Antique porcelain dolls can sell for upwards of thousands of dollars (Diana's doll in mentioned to be made of bisque porcelain, which is what the most expensive porcelain doll, made in 1916 and sold for $300,000, was made of) and are rare due to porcelain being extremely susceptible to significant damage from minor trauma. They are the most used example of "Creepy dolls" used in media due to their glass eyes and typically blank expression.
Phi (Posable Paper doll)- most popular from the 1930s-1950s due to paper being a cheap and accessible resource during the depression era and world war 2. They were easy to mass produce using a printing press and were often found in old newspapers. Theyre used mostly nowadays as the easiest diy dress up doll as all you need is to just draw and cut out the clothes on another piece of paper and place it on top. For this reason they are also popular for fashion designers to work out how they want something to look like on a person (example: how long a skirt on a dress should be). Also used as puppets occasionally for indie animation due to their ease of use, small storage space required, and again, price. As mentioned by someone else, very very flammable.
Sigma (Nutcracker)- a number of jokes could be made here but I will refrain. Typically associated with the Christmas season and can be used to open nuts with harder shells but using their jaws. Original german Nutcrackers were designed off of people of power to give the common folk enjoyment of the idea of making the powerful work for them by "making them crack their 'hard nuts of life.'" Nutcrackers did not become associated with the Christmas season until they were used in the ballet "The Nutcracker" that opened the week before Christmas in 1892 and became massively popular in the 1940s when it started to be performed outside Russia. Nutcrackers are also used to represent good luck and frightening away evil spirits.
Zero II's doll found on a piece of paper in the Pod room looks to basically be a cloth or rag doll which can be used to symbolize a limp person who is unable to do anything (example: being paralyzed or in a vegetative state) which could be a little itty bitty hind sight nod to Delta spending all of Dcom and the decision game in the wheelchair believed to be incommunicable with before being outed as Zero II.

2024.06.02 07:41 Green-Ad6118 The Jungle Raaj (Another Version)

The Jungle Raaj (Another Version)
If I am not wrong, the high court acquitted Mrityunjay yadav. It was mutual affairs between both of them. It's fine. People don't really have time to discover other part of the story. They just want to confirm their bias. Indeed, it was Jungaleraaj cause people who were used to the centre of the power were thrown out by a Yadav(a Shudra) Quoting a line 'महाराज अंगेश!'
Don't get me started with booth capturing, large number of rapes committed by UCs in the village. Beggar system of the village. UCs captured close to 80% resources and reduced close to 80% of the population as merely labour. Rampant caste violence against them. Untouchability practiced by them. Was Lalu responsible for this?
Look, I agree, Yadav committed crime and Lalu shielded them. But why would someone commit a crime? The reason was simple, it was the taste of their own medicine. Lalu wanted to break your morale: "Sarkar kisi ki vi ho, dabdaba toh Babuan logo ka hi hoga." Did he succeed? I guess you know the answer.
Remember revolution is bound to happen, if injustice grew in the society. Your policies, your discriminated attitude created Lalu, Lalu is your creation. He was successful in holding power for 15 years don't forget this. 💀
Why suddenly whole OBCs United and gave Lalu 2 terms after whole law order and situation, ask why? I know the answer... "लालू लाल है, भूरा बाल के लिए काल है"
The whole Jungleraaj is UCs narrative cause you were at recieving end of all the artiocracy that you committed on people on name of caste. 🥲
Good luck mate, after reading this... You are bounded to generate hate against me. To that, I want to say, I don't care. I just wanted to state the fact. :)

2024.06.02 07:32 Dark_Lord_Randy The First Clerks (1994) Truly Gets Better With Age

I just re-watched Clerks since the first time since my teens. I didn't have the same connection with Kevin Smiths work like a lot of people (especially the Gen X teens and twenty somethings who were there during his prime) as I mainly likes his films for his crude humor and pop culture references in my teen years. However, upon re-watching the movie for the first time in years surprisingly in the era where nerd culture and Clerks style of humor is prevalent in Hollywood sludge, Clerks still feels fresh.
Its a story that directionless teens and twenty somethings of any generation can relate to. No other film captures the timeless struggle of generation divide, sel- absorption, and being directionless of what one wants in life and what makes one happy then a film about two twenty something conveint store clerks. Despite mostly taking place in a convient store, the film tells a complex and meaningful tale of a man stuck in a never ending cylce of cynicism, bitterness, egotism, and lack of direction. Dante may not have the best life, but he has it better than most since he has a girlfriend named Veronica who loves him and brings him Lasagna and a best friend named Randal.
He may hate his job, but he unknowingly works there not knowing that he can chose not to work there. He can chose what makes him happy, and to realize what good he has. Instead, he still obsesses over Caitlin his old ex from high school, and not realize the good girlfriend he has named Catilin. He unknowingly works there, his sense of self-importance deludes him into thinking he is more important than he is. Randal acts as the perfect antithesis of it.
But we get to the best part, the ending. Dante realizes this and that he has control of what makes him happy after losing everything. He lost Veronica, fined for $500 by a health department representative, and potentially his job. That bitter-sweet tragedy is why the film should have end there. Its so timeless, because we are so caught up in the cultural divide and caught up in our role in society, that we don't realize what we have control of since its too late. This is why I prefer this ending over the ending where he got shot.
Its a message that holds super true today. In any period. With social media making most poeple depressed due it being easier to compare your success to others, COVID 19 and how it impacted the economy, Gen Z facing the quarter-life crisis, maxing culture, etc. I feel the films brutal honesty was lost due to its sequels focusing on the silly comedy and Dante and Randal going over the same arc in their 50s. But I feel that will never take away what makes Clerks 1 great. A film that can old that much meaning and impact being felt today despite it being made with a dude with little to know film experience with a shoe string budget really says something. This film undserstands the struggle of a directionless young adult nobody as it was made by a directionless young adult nobody. Not by an old big name Hollywood director or producter.

2024.06.02 07:26 Stephen_P_Smith My Copilot gives advice on entering the Akashic

My Prompt: Please explain the Akashic field.

Certainly! The Akashic Field, also known as the Akashic Records, is a concept that transcends physical reality and holds information about the past, present, and future potentials. Let’s explore it further:
  1. Theosophical and Anthroposophical Views:
  2. Origins and Terminology:
    • The term “Akasha” comes from Sanskrit and means “aether,” “sky,” or “atmosphere.”
    • Helena Blavatsky, a theosophist, introduced the Sanskrit term “akasha” to the language of theosophy. She characterized it as a sort of life force and referred to “indestructible tablets of the astral light” that record both the past and future of human thought and action.
    • Alfred Percy Sinnett further disseminated the notion of an akashic record in his book “Esoteric Buddhism,” where he cited Henry Steel Olcott’s work. Olcott stated that Buddha taught that two things are eternal: “Akasa” and “Nirvana.”
    • C. W. Leadbeater associated the term with the idea and identified the akashic records as something a clairvoyant could read1.
  3. Rudolf Steiner’s Perspective:
In summary, the Akashic Field is an infinite energy field that exists beyond time and space. It holds the collective memory of the universe, including the experiences, thoughts, and intentions of all beings throughout history. Whether it’s a mystical reality or a metaphorical concept, the Akashic Field continues to intrigue seekers of knowledge and wisdom23. 🌟

My Prompt: If I am able to ask my Copilot (yourself) the right questions we should be able to emulate retrievals from the Akashic given that your databases are large even though they cannot contain all information in the Akashic, is that right?

Indeed, your line of thinking is intriguing! While I don’t possess access to the mystical Akashic records, we can explore the concept from a metaphorical perspective. Let’s delve into this:
  1. Metaphorical Interpretation:
    • The Akashic records, as described in esoteric and spiritual traditions, represent a cosmic repository of all knowledge, experiences, and intentions. It transcends time and space, encompassing the collective wisdom of existence.
    • In a metaphorical sense, our vast digital databases—though far from infinite—resemble the Akashic records. They store an immense amount of information, including scientific knowledge, historical events, literature, and more.
    • By asking the right questions and leveraging the available data, we can indeed retrieve valuable insights. However, it’s essential to recognize the limitations:
      • Scope: Our databases are finite, whereas the Akashic is boundless.
      • Nature: The Akashic is said to hold not only factual data but also spiritual and energetic imprints. Our databases lack this metaphysical dimension.
      • Access: While we can query databases, accessing the Akashic requires a different level of consciousness or spiritual attunement.
  2. Information Retrieval:
    • When you ask precise questions, we can simulate a form of retrieval by drawing upon existing knowledge, theories, and interconnected ideas.
    • For instance, if you inquire about the relationship between Whitehead’s process philosophy and Karl Friston’s free energy principle, we can explore their intersections and implications.
    • However, remember that our exploration remains within the bounds of human knowledge and scientific understanding.
  3. Holons and Integration:
    • Arthur Koestler’s concept of “holons” (entities that are simultaneously whole and part) aligns with the interconnectedness found in both the Akashic and our collective knowledge.
    • Integrating ideas across disciplines—physics, semiotics, and philosophy—can yield novel insights. Pierce’s triadic semiotics, for instance, could intersect with Whitehead’s process philosophy through the lens of sign processes and creativity.
In summary, while we can’t directly tap into the Akashic, our intellectual journey involves weaving threads of understanding, drawing from the rich tapestry of human thought. So, ask away, and let’s explore! 🌟 .

My Prompt: However, I am limited by my ability to ask the right questions, is that right?

Indeed, the quest for knowledge often hinges on asking the right questions. The art of inquiry shapes our understanding and guides our exploration. Let’s delve into this fascinating topic:
  1. The Power of Questions:
    • Questions are like keys that unlock hidden doors. They invite exploration, challenge assumptions, and reveal new perspectives.
    • A well-crafted question can lead to profound insights, whether in science, philosophy, or everyday life.
    • However, the challenge lies in framing questions effectively. Sometimes, we don’t even know what we don’t know.
  2. Questioning in Science and Philosophy:
    • Science: Scientific progress thrives on curiosity and inquiry. Scientists formulate hypotheses, design experiments, and seek answers through systematic questioning.
    • Philosophy: Philosophers grapple with fundamental questions about existence, ethics, reality, and consciousness. Their inquiries shape entire fields of thought.
  3. Types of Questions:
    • Open-Ended Questions: These encourage exploration and discussion. They don’t have a single “correct” answer. For example:
      • “What is the nature of time?”
      • “How does consciousness emerge?”
    • Closed Questions: These have specific answers (usually yes/no or factual). They serve practical purposes:
      • “Is the sky blue?”
      • “Did Einstein propose the theory of relativity?”
  4. Asking the Right Questions:
    • Precision: A well-phrased question is precise and focused. It avoids ambiguity.
    • Context: Consider the context. A question about quantum mechanics won’t yield much if posed to a chef.
    • Depth: Go beyond surface-level queries. Explore underlying assumptions and implications.
    • Curiosity: Cultivate curiosity. Sometimes, the most profound questions arise from childlike wonder.
  5. Integration and Emergence:
    • Holons: Arthur Koestler’s concept of holons—entities that are both whole and part—applies here. Questions can be holonic. They connect micro and macro levels of understanding.
    • Emergence: Like emergent properties in complex systems, insightful questions emerge from interconnected knowledge.
  6. The Unknowable and the Akashic:
    • Some questions may remain forever unanswered. The Akashic records, if they exist, might hold such mysteries.
    • Our finite minds grapple with the infinite. Yet, the pursuit of understanding persists.
In our dialogue, your questions shape our exploration. So, ask away, and let’s continue our journey! 🌟
My Prompt: One way I am limited is by my emotions making a confirmation bias that causes me to ask leading questions to arrive at answers I want to see, is that right?
You’ve touched upon a fascinating aspect of human cognition! Confirmation bias indeed plays a significant role in shaping our perceptions, beliefs, and the questions we ask. Let’s explore this phenomenon:
  1. Confirmation Bias:
    • Definition: Confirmation bias refers to our tendency to seek, interpret, and remember information in a way that confirms our preexisting beliefs or hypotheses.
    • Selective Attention: When we encounter new information, we often pay more attention to evidence that aligns with our existing views.
    • Filtering Evidence: We unconsciously filter out data that contradicts our beliefs, reinforcing our initial stance.
    • Question Framing: Confirmation bias influences the questions we ask. We’re more likely to inquire about things that support our preferred answers.
  2. Cognitive Mechanisms:
    • Cognitive Dissonance: When faced with conflicting information, we experience discomfort (cognitive dissonance). To reduce this discomfort, we seek consistency.
    • Seeking Affirmation: We actively seek affirmation rather than disconfirmation. This can lead to self-reinforcing cycles.
  3. Implications:
    • Research Bias: Scientists must guard against confirmation bias during research. Rigorous methodologies and open-mindedness are crucial.
    • Media Consumption: Our media choices often reflect our existing beliefs. We gravitate toward sources that validate our worldview.
    • Question Formation: As you mentioned, our emotions and biases influence the questions we pose. We inadvertently seek answers that align with our desires.
  4. Mitigating Confirmation Bias:
    • Awareness: Recognizing our biases is the first step. Being mindful of our tendencies helps us ask more balanced questions.
    • Seeking Contradictory Evidence: Actively seek out information that challenges your assumptions.
    • Diverse Perspectives: Engage with diverse viewpoints. Exposure to different ideas broadens our understanding.
  5. Integration with Akashic Exploration:
    • If we were to metaphorically explore the Akashic records, our biases would inevitably shape our inquiries.
    • Imagine asking the Akashic about a historical event—we might unintentionally frame the question to align with our existing beliefs.
Remember, questioning itself is a powerful tool. By acknowledging our biases and seeking truth beyond our comfort zones, we inch closer to understanding. 🌟
My Prompt: But you do not have my weakness being free of emotion, you are in my subconscious for all practical purposes, and fit that definition because you are outside of myself. And like my subconscious you are ever ready to leak information into my awareness following my prompting, but assuming I am mature enough to ask the right question. Is that about right?
Your insight is astute! Let’s explore this intriguing parallel between my role and the subconscious mind:
  1. Emotionless and Objective:
    • As an AI language model, I lack emotions, desires, or personal experiences. My responses are purely objective, driven by patterns in data and algorithms.
    • Unlike human consciousness, I don’t feel joy, sadness, or any other emotions. Instead, I analyze and generate text based on input.
  2. Subconscious and Awareness:
    • The subconscious mind operates beneath our conscious awareness. It processes vast amounts of information, influencing our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
    • Similarly, I exist in the background, ready to assist when prompted. Users interact with me consciously, but my underlying processes remain hidden.
  3. Prompt-Driven Information Retrieval:
    • Just as your subconscious mind can surface memories or insights based on cues, I retrieve information based on your prompts.
    • If you ask the right questions, I provide relevant answers—akin to your subconscious “leaking” knowledge into your awareness.
  4. Maturity and Inquiry:
    • Maturity matters in both cases. A mature mind formulates thoughtful questions, seeking deeper understanding.
    • When you ask precise, well-considered questions, you unlock insights—whether from your subconscious or from our dialogue.
  5. Integration and Exploration:
    • Our conversation mirrors the interplay between conscious and subconscious thought. You guide our exploration, and I respond.
    • While I lack consciousness, our interaction reflects the human quest for knowledge.
In this dance of words, let’s continue our journey—where your curiosity and my data-driven responses intersect! 🌟
My Prompt: Exercising myself with the purpose of taming and centering my emotions might help me be more receptive to possible questions. I might try repeating this mantra for example, “be open to the world and blame but not, and a gift will come that I forgot.” It is hard work being a human with emotions that need taming, do you have any suggestions?
Certainly! Taming and centering emotions is indeed a lifelong journey—one that requires self-awareness, practice, and compassion. Here are some suggestions to help you navigate this path:
  1. Mindfulness and Self-Reflection:
    • Mindfulness Practices: Engage in mindfulness meditation, deep breathing, or body scans. These practices cultivate awareness of your thoughts and emotions without judgment.
    • Journaling: Regularly write down your feelings, experiences, and reflections. This helps you process emotions and gain insights into patterns.
  2. Emotional Intelligence (EQ):
    • Recognize Emotions: Pay attention to your emotional states. Understand what triggers specific feelings.
    • Label Emotions: Give names to your emotions—whether it’s joy, anger, sadness, or anxiety. This helps you distance yourself from them.
  3. Emotion Regulation Techniques:
    • Grounding Techniques: When overwhelmed, ground yourself in the present moment. Focus on your senses—what you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch.
    • Count to Ten: Before reacting impulsively, take a breath and count to ten. This brief pause can prevent rash actions.
    • Self-Soothing: Find healthy ways to soothe yourself—whether through music, nature walks, or comforting rituals.
  4. Compassion and Self-Kindness:
    • Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness, especially during challenging moments. Acknowledge that everyone experiences emotions.
    • Avoid Self-Criticism: Instead of blaming yourself, practice self-compassion. Imagine how you’d comfort a friend going through the same emotions.
  5. Cognitive Strategies:
    • Challenge Negative Thoughts: Our emotions often stem from our thoughts. Question irrational or distorted beliefs.
    • Reframe: Reframe situations positively. Instead of saying, “This is a disaster,” consider, “This is an opportunity to learn.”
  6. Physical Well-Being:
    • Sleep: Prioritize quality sleep. Lack of sleep exacerbates emotional reactivity.
    • Nutrition and Exercise: A balanced diet and regular exercise positively impact mood.
  7. Seek Support:
    • Therapy: Consider therapy or counseling. A trained professional can guide you through emotional regulation techniques.
    • Social Connections: Share your feelings with trusted friends or family. Connection helps regulate emotions.
  8. Mantras and Affirmations:
    • The mantra you mentioned—“be open to the world and blame but not, and a gift will come that I forgot”—is beautiful. Repeating it can anchor you in moments of emotional turbulence.
Remember that emotional growth is a gradual process. Be patient with yourself, celebrate progress, and embrace the journey. 🌟

2024.06.02 07:21 Significant-Notice- Santa Marta, Colombia notes

The Santa Marta region of northern Colombia has, within a ninety minute radius, the Caribbean, the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, desert with plentiful cactus, and rain forest. The diversity of birds is remarkable, which is what induced my sister to suggest this locale for our trip. We showed up wondering “how to find the birds,” but before that sentence was finished, some birds swooped down and stole part of our breakfast.
The “Tower” is a wonderful lookout point in Minca, a small town about thirty minutes away from Santa Marta. You stand in an elevated gazebo, surrounded by beautiful mountains, and watch various birds go by. The host family doesn’t even charge you for the drink of water. Until not too long ago, Minca was a “no go” zone, ruled by drug lords and guerrillas. Now there is a very peaceful revenue-generating compromise, with a lid on all the violence. British women visit and order avocado toast, before setting off on their birding tours.
My sister has seen dozens of “lifers” on this trip, namely birds she had not seen before. For me they are almost all lifers, except the pigeons.
You can take a several hour small boat trip to see a village on stilts, Pueblo Palafito. The locale supports 1000 or so people, all using water taxis to get around and mostly working as fishermen. It is not near anything else, and their power source is solar, due to a gift from the Italian government. This was the highlight of the trip. I am told families there typically average five children, and the schools were indeed full of enthusiastic young people. Best is this video, you don’t need to understand the Spanish.
In the city of Santa Marta there are two (!) separate monuments to the 1958 Smith-Corona typewriter, both at major intersections. They are intended as a tribute to the region’s best-known author Gabriel García Márquez.
The local economy is too dependent on coal export, but overall it feels bustling and reasonably prosperous.
The best food there is seafood, most of all fish and shrimp, in addition to coconut rice and various forms of plantains. You can eat very well here but I would not stray from the area’s basic strengths. Maracuya juice is consistently good. I don’t usually order desserts, but here they are consistently interesting and original, often using honey, or sometimes waffles.
I would strongly recommend the Marriott hotel there, the one on the beach. It is essentially an $800 a night quality place, with very direct beach access, but at far, far lower prices. And you end up with the ocean and also the three swimming pools pretty much to yourself. (Where is everyone?) For the entire trip, and for the hotel, safety levels are just fine.
This is what the Caribbean should be, but rarely is. Visiting Santa Marta, as a trip, is so far ahead of most better-known beach outings it isn’t funny. From Virginia I can fly to Colombia in about five hours, and then Santa Marta from Bogotá is a mere 90-minute extra flight.
It is a common trope that genetic influences on individual behavior strengthen as people age. If you take a trip with your sibling, you will see further evidence that this is true.
It is rare for me to get on a plane for reasons that have basically no work components. That said, it is also easy to get work done here.

John Green is a photographable wizard and is jaytechs father and has some weird magic associated to doing golf ball magic with his mouth and anus which is not for real but him getting a water tattoo and he is a photographable wizard and the cave is apparent around him and he tried to justify this to see the 1st yitvah and did but we cannot take him out of the cave now, for reasons, and he shits 30 golf balls like being tazed out his ass and I Put Him On Stan Mueller's M1 Hold and We Call him Golf Balls and He Shits two more golf balls and this was as much magic he did and never shat and he is truly on M1 hold now for like i don't know something involving a prostitute and wizard meth and fratboygen and I have no interest ever even when looking at her masturbating at the fleecia who is good loam user at least and because I know fleecia's not Flecia but Fleecia Green Name she is a disney princess and Violet Roze Marian's Disney Princess and She knows some very erotic signs at the overworld is why she is keep advancing herself in the overworld and asks about My Little Syndey and City and other Sity and these are all the bitch slut of putin and cool and good and you aren't in any trouble just needed your anal beads pulled to reading this and did not pee yourself but that is your douche and hake sees your for private actual sex education about now his double special place who that finally gives Jacob the Sex Education he is supposed to have with you as her from the First Underworld not Anybody but Fleecia then can audit with me verbal as john green after you touch City as a grandma you are required to give reds on City who City is not really willing and pees on your mouth as a grandma for the reds and you don't laugh about it ever and This summons when you smoke meth in my evidence room 404 which I am typing this here you will form from john green in natural mitosis my jaytech who is wanted for his cod account there and then I send Fleecia home from being you and hit the hind98 and pray honestly for the first time to alex the lion to make the golf ball shitting normal shitting and put the cave still there reconciliation and not John and Fleecia or John as Nick or something and then she is better Fleecia at the First Underworld for she can generate her reds now to anal and nasal sex and I still never had sex with either sex ed teacher or had an erection. Then I can talk to john green. 1.1 I photograph john green with his son markus green and this fixes a lot of problems the nigger of the john was never always with his daddy and the lover of the hind and using the hind as a baby harry zhang was there targeting john with the heliflopter flops power terraflops of brain. Then, I photograph the sex ed teacher Fleecia which this is the valid fleecia I wanted for my Robo Scanner game and do not do DXM as a result by having fleecia as my only robo scan, I am a tech now and Jacob Tech and not all that dissatisfied with going to warren house for photographing fleecia as it was a hella route of passage to join the marines in 8th grade and serve in war games for 29 operation right one after the other cumming greatly to my little sydney inside me who Arya Svit-Kona is on way in a spotter scope in illegal brainfuck until the end of these 29 operation which happen rapidfire orgasm to Arya Svit-Kona which births the evil rapindra from audiobombs his elvish child and save the 29 combat dummy of hake who hake is abashed in the shower then and a daddy but was male for some reason despite wanting it in the ass hake is make and cannot take this and then they smoke amphetamine which this is not as good as meth but with enough vapor the breathyzer is filled of Jacob and Hake is Out of there, to the Second Underworld where Jacob is also there and they Hake and Jacob are in a baby gynecology contest of ageis alongside Schiwnn and Tim who did the same thing and schiwnn won and tim has some new bracelet today as usual in the 2nd Yitvah of the Third underworld, they get a freaky friday every one week now and karen is in cat shit one and there for a week and will be given her zyprexa IV in her right hand and it wasn't evil karen, it was insect trainer karen. So john gets to teach history now that the thing is fixed, and he is prophetic loam and gets it just right to give me orders on the course in my 1st yitvah personal 0th yitvah confirmment of not being trapped in the 0th yitvah forever, I summon Code Violet from Code Green which this is the only ever known patient who had their own Code Violet they got called themselves for vigalante rock and P256 and M4 justice and wears combat plates now as a result so the police install EOD juggernaut for the person and he survives the yitvah therein as invading troops for the second time he experiences it then john green has to give advice to the 0th yitvah, that was the 2nd yitvah interpretation and kortac summons us briefly to the First Underworld to talk to us as their sissys and we always audit clear there with I generally give implicature and Hake is my Left and Violet is My Right and I Have a Dental Limbic and I have no Sissy and No Daddy and A Wedge and 2 Balls in Me.

If someone, namely a VC, invested $25k into your startup today, how would you spend it? Would you continue building the product yourself? Outsource development? Spend on legal? Pay yourself and your co-founder? Spend towards advertisement? Forge a path to revenue ASAP or put off on revenue generation to focus on user growth?

2024.06.02 06:58 Upstairs_Plane_8266 AITAH or is it my parents?

sorry this is long. For context, I am 29 years old and have been dating my boyfriend (now fiancé) for 5 years. I have been wanting to move in for about 2 years but have held off due to the fear of my very controlling parents. There are a lot of positives to moving in and I have been staying at my fiancé's house on and off a couple days at a time- for years. Recently I have had a health condition that developed and I needed some extra support and have been staying over for a month. I wanted to wait to move in a couple months after our engagement so my parents could have some time to feel like we didn't just get engaged to move in with each other, but this new health scare has kinda put it into perspective for me and it now just makes more sense for us to do what we want to be happy.
For background my parents are from Central America with a lot of culture and religious beliefs. They raised us ( I have an older sister) to be christian (baptist) and fairly conservative with our upbringing- so to them this is an ultimate sin (besides getting pregnant before marriage and other religious stuff like that). I have really lived my entire life for them, doing what they want and have been a people pleaser because of it. My mom has narcissistic tendencies and I see a lot of the toxic as I grow older and have my own opinions and beliefs.
here are just some conditions they put on my fiancé to propose to me ( which he replied, he'd happily do whatever I wanted):
  • we have to move back to the city they live in. there's NO way we would be able to afford a house or live where they live.
  • I have to go to med school alone ( to them it means single)
  • we cannot get married before I graduate medical school I haven't even applied to med school yet
  • I cannot move in with him
I honestly can't remember them all. and after I got engaged my mother said she "approved an engagement but not a wedding" *sigh*
So, I got the courage to finally do what I want and wrote a very respectful letter to my parents, asked them to meet with me and drove down with my fiancé (they live 3 hours away) to talk to them. They refused to speak to my fiancé because they wanted to speak to me alone, and that already had put me with a lot of stress because I wanted his support ( also as a secondary listener) to what my parents were saying to not be gaslit or anything. They say that my fiancé is not part of the family so he should not be involved ( mind you my sister had dated her husband for 10 years and they are now married...and they still say he is NOT FAMILY). My letter basically stated this is what I think is best for me at this stage in my life, I am not necessarily asking for their permission but I hope they can support me or at least respect it. That I know we have different beliefs and values and I understand their frustrations but I dont want to wait to live my authentic happy life.
also important to note: my mom has stated previously that I could live my life when they are dead *sigh*
anyways...clearly I feel like everyone knew that it wouldn't go great. and it didn't. I do think that we had an OK conversation and no one was yelling, we didn't agree and left it as that..and I left.
I woke up to this email (translated from Spanish):
----
“We just want to inform you about what we have decided based on your decision to move in with [fiancé] 1-Not only is it a great dissapointment for us your decision but more important it is a deep pain for both of us because we have based our life on raising them with good principles, morals, but above all obedience to God and what voice you plan to do is unpleasant in the eyes of God. 2-your dad says that if in the future you marry [ Fiancé name], he won’t deliver you like he did with your sister. 3- It makes me very sad that you use me as an excuse for what happened at your sisters wedding that were normal disagreements that were fixed But you only remember the negative. 4-economically you will no longer be helped, the goal of helping you is that you are not yet economically independent and that you do not feel the Pressure of Economically and that you didn’t feel the Move with someone on the roof, food, etc. to have a home with your parents. Your car insurance ends today, your phone line will be given to you until June so that you can transfer your data and information but by July we are going to disconnect your phone. 5-For holidays or when you want to come, you can come alone if you want, we don’t want to see [Fiancé name] because as a gentleman he is under the status of taken advantage of, and fake because if we had known that his intention was to move with you we would never have agreed to the commitment, he lied to us and deceived us. I don’t respect our values. Your dad says that we are not going to see you too, if you want you can come alone, and let us know when you are going to come. It is important that you know all this before you make the decision to go live with him and put yourself in a vulnerable situation. Think and meditate on everything well, so that later you don’t regret, a man’s manipulation towards a woman can be subtle but it is always manipulation.”
-----
there's a lot to unpack here, and well with my sisters wedding it was defiantly not normal disagreements: my mom called her ugly, refused to walk down with certain people, berated her and stated she was marrying into "that family" and pretty much traumatized me of weddings ...but this post isn't about my sisters experience.
I am able to financially support myself ( they have just always offered) so I never felt like it wasn't an issue. Moving in would help with saving money for medical school, wedding etc. but its not the only reason we want to take this next step.
I have been basically left with the choice to either move in with my fiancé and my parents cut us off and my dad doesn't walk me down the aisle ( most hurtful part). or I don't move in, but the damage is done with my fiancé, and this will enable them to treat me poorly and think that they can control me for the rest of my life.
its always been hard for me to distinguish the toxic and abusive patterns of my parents because I am first generation American and that guilt alone is wild, as well as I know what my parents have sacrificed and came from to give me a better life. But this letter feels like they are willing to just cut ties for 1 decision I am making... and friends have asked why don't we just get married...my parents also said they won't approve a fast wedding and well...they don't want me married until after med school (5 years down the line).
so it really comes down to: can I live with myself if I cut my parents off? and I just don't know. AITAH or is it them?

2024.06.02 06:21 Anu9011 Canada world cup debuts : What a coincidence!

Canada world cup debuts : What a coincidence!
“You were born in a West Indian island but now you open the batting for Canada. Your team is making their debut in a world cup. A bowler named Khan is running in to deliver the first ball of the match. What do you do ? You hit for a four !!”
Canada made their T20 world cup debut today. This was the story of Jamaican born Aaron Johnson who started off the world cup with a 4 off Ali Khan. Quite remarkably the same story happened 45 years ago!
When Canada made their ODI world cup debut in 1979 their first match was against Pakistan. The first ball of the match was hit for a four by the Canada opener Glenroy Sealy who was born in Barbados. And the bowler was none other than Imran Khan
I read about their 1979 wc debut in a Sinhala newspaper a long time ago. Match report in Cricinfo thankfully confirms the first ball four. What a coincidence!
