Neighbor vs. Speed Racer
Hi Mark! I’ve got a neighbor story for you, and it actually made it into our local newspaper! I wasn’t a part of it, but I witnessed it.
At the end of the street I live on, there is a gravel road that leads up to more houses and a very small apartment complex. One resident up there (who I’ll call Speed Racer), loved to drive down our street around 20 miles over the speed limit. My neighbor across the street (I’ll call him Mike), was furious at Speed Racer and rightfully so. He had 5 young children who loved to play outside, not to mention the other kids and pets on my street. After a few weeks of Speed Racer doing his thing, Mike actually managed to throw something (can’t remember what) at his car. Speed Racer stopped and Mike actually got the driver side door open and attempted to drag him out of the truck. Now, Mike has always been a kind man and a wonderful husband and father, so to see him so angry was a sight to see. Cops were called to settle the matter and no one got arrested.
Speed Racer was still Tokyo Drifting up and down our street, and Mike simply had enough. So, he installed speed bumps on our street to get Speed Racer to stop. Well, it didn’t take long before Speed Racer’s truck hit the speed bump at a high speed and his truck got damaged. He complained to the city and unfortunately the speed bumps were removed a couple days later. However, Speed Racer got the message and now drives nice and slow on our street. We also had more cops patrolling the area. Mike and his family moved out to a bigger house about a year later. I really miss having Mike as a neighbor. And I can breathe knowing Speed Racer won’t be speed racing anymore.

Just want to share my appreciation how entertaining the chibi-character and the pumping music Blue Archive have XD
Last week I was curious about the aris dance meme, so I looked for the original video. Oh man I was hooked, I binged all BlueSechi videos for the whole week and now my reels is fulled of chibi 3d model XD. I’m addicted and listen to Unwelcome School everyday to hype me up.
I’m so tempted to get into BA right now. How much I missed as a late-joiner (event-only character or gears, event story)? Should I ask for one of my friend reroll account to speed up beginner phase, or starting myself? How is the beginner bonus vs the comeback bonus right now :D Please help me with these baka questions, thank you so much

Connection Speeds: WiFi vs Powerline Ethernet
Hey everyone,
So after getting my portal the other day and having it lag really bad, freeze and have resolution drops throughout my house I decided to get a powerline (running a cable from the router or relocating wasn’t an option).
I noticed before giving the portal a spin that the connection download/upload speeds had a pretty big drop going from wifi to Ethernet. Although the speeds in the connection test dropped I seemingly have a smooth running PS Portal now?
Is this normal? Is this good until I want to download a game or something and then I’ll have to get back on WiFi? A download speed of 8.5Mbps just seems.. very low. Could this be due to the cables that came with the powerline set (Tp link av1000)? All the lights are on on both the poweline adapters, so it seems that they’re on the same circuit.
Any feedback would be appreciated!

2024.05.19 08:48 EJC28 Raiders 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 1, Pick 13 - Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia:
NFL: This is the Raiders willing to adjust the offense to take the best player available. Bowers is a spectacular player who can line up anywhere along the formation as a tight end. There aren’t many holes in his game -- which should urge new OC Luke Getsy to get creative and get Bowers and Michael Mayer on the field together.
CBS Sports: C. He’s a heck of a player, but didn’t they draft Michael Mayer last year and signed Harrison Bryant this year? They have other needs. Don’t really like this pick that much. It’s not like he’s a good blocker for their run game. Strange pick with other needs.
ESPN: What a strange first-round selection, especially considering tight end was addressed last season with the second-round selection of Michael Mayer. Offensive tackle and cornerback were bigger needs. New general manager Tom Telesco must have simply relied on his draft board and gone best player available, especially with Oregon State RT Taliese Fuaga and every single CB still available. In fact, every defensive player was still on the board, and yet ... Bowers was considered a top-10 overall talent and should provide immediate production for an anemic offense.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Cries during Bluey but only at the opening credits.
Round 2, Pick 44 - Jackson Powers-Johnson, OG, Oregon:
NFL: Brock Bowers felt like a throwback Raiders pick to me, but JPJ really feels like an Al Davis classic. Powers-Johnson is a big, brawling interior lineman who played center last year but also can line up at guard -- the position he was announced at -- and bury the man opposite him, even if he's a little stiff and an average athlete.
CBS Sports: A. Instant starter inside. Guard size with mobile center feet. Shorter arms and some rawness in pass pro. But upside is through the roof. All-Pro caliber in that regard. Smart pick here.
ESPN: While Powers-Johnson played center at Oregon, the Raiders announced him as a guard, which makes sense since Las Vegas needs a right guard. Yes, even after the Raiders signed veteran Cody Whitehair in free agency. Powers-Johnson has started games at both guard spots and center in his college career. Last season, he started 13 games at center, was an All-America selection and won the Rimington Award as the nation's top center. He provides quality versatility, which is highly valued on the Raiders' offensive line.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He somehow still uses a functioning Windows phone.
Round 3, Pick 77 - DJ Glaze, OT, Maryland:
NFL: A left or right tackle with great length and so-so athleticism, Glaze was considered a question mark because of some past injuries (including an ACL), but the Raiders clearly feel good about him here. He's likely a swing tackle to start out but could compete for a starting job down the line.
CBS Sports: A-. One of the more calculated OTs in the class. Rarely panics and has plus awareness. Requisite size and length to stay on the edge in the NFL. Athleticism is at times great but not a true speciality. Nothing overly standout about his game. Just high floor blocker.
ESPN: After taking a versatile interior offensive lineman in the second round in Powers-Johnson, the Raiders used their third-round pick to grab a college tackle who could also transition inside to guard in Glaze. The selection shows how much the new regime of GM Tom Telesco and coach Antonio Pierce value versatility on the offensive line, which is all but set on the left side and at center. Glaze has a long wingspan at nearly seven feet but is not known for being overly physical.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Prefers the arrows on the keyboard over WASD.
Round 4, Pick 112 - Decamerion Richardson, CB, Mississippi State:
NFL: I joked on Day 2 that the Raiders are having another Al Davis-flecked draft, and Richardson keeps the theme rolling. He's a straight-line speed demon with great length, two very encouraging traits. But his penchant for handsy coverage and no real track record for playmaking mutes his appeal just a bit.
CBS Sports: A-. Long, sleek burner who will make plays on the football when he trusts his eyes. Lacks physicality at times and that hurts him when attempting to stop the run although when he gets to the football, he’s a very sure tackler. Smooth athlete in off-man and zone. This secondary needed this type of CB specimen.
ESPN: The Raiders finally address their defense at defensive back in particular, with Richardson who is 6-foot-2 and ran the 40 in 4.34 seconds. He needs development but did lead Mississippi State with 7 pass breakups last season, even as he never had an interception. He's also not afraid to stick his nose in the scrum as he had a combined 164 tackles the last two seasons.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Thinks scotch tape smells like Christmas.
Round 5, Pick 148 - Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State:
NFL: Instinctive, throwback linebacker who lacks great speed. Eichenberg has the makeup to turn into a defensive tone-setter, even if his coverage ability is limited.
CBS Sports: A-. Ultra-active middle linebacker with a blitzing specialty. Smooth athlete a bit quicker than fast. Awareness is good in coverage, he will find crossers and understand in-breakers are working behind him. Strong tackler. Lack of speed and at times problems vs. blocks are weaknesses but this is a sound football player.
ESPN: Coach Pierce, who spent nine years as an NFL linebacker, gets his guy in the 6-foot-2, 233-pound Eichenberg, who provides depth while translating into a backup for Robert Spillane. Eichenberg did miss three games with an arm injury last season, a year after he was second-team All-American. More a thumper inside than a pass-coverage specialist, Eichenberg had 82 tackles (2.5 for a loss), a sack and a forced fumble in 10 games last season.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Played the role of background tree in his middle school play.
Round 6, Pick 208 - Dylan Laube, RB, New Hampshire:
NFL: Laube become something of a folk hero at the Senior Bowl, charming fans with his personality, elusiveness and pass-catching prowess. He had 295 yards receiving against Central Michigan alone this year and legitimately could emerge as a third-down weapon in the pass game.
CBS Sports: A-. Insane receiving RB. Built low to the ground and had fine testing figures before the draft. Low, side to side wiggle but lacks speed once he finds space. Contact balance is good too. Think the small-school Blake Corum.
ESPN: An FCS All-American all-purpose player, Laube projects more as a potential kick and punt returner in the NFL rather than a rotational running back. He averaged 31.1 yards on kick returns and 11.3 yards on punt returns and had a touchdown on each. He rushed for 749 yards and nine TDs, averaging 4.7 yards per carry last season, and also had 68 catches for 699 yards with seven receiving scores, including a 295-receiving yards game against Central Michigan.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Once wrote 250+ fake true facts for nfl draft cards like a moron.
Round 7, Pick 223 - Trey Taylor, S, Air Force:
NFL: Air Force has landed a few players in the draft the past few years after a long absence, and Taylor could make it either as a box safety or a special teams contributor.
CBS Sports: A. Thick, productive three-level safety best being closer to the line. Plays with controlled athleticism. Gets grabby against better athletes but that’s expected for a larger safety. Solid ball skills. Not ultra twitchy. Smart well-rounded type.
ESPN: The first-ever defensive back drafted out of the Air Force Academy, Taylor won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. He figures to provide immediate depth behind starters Marcus Epps and Tre’von Moehrig, but at 6-feet, 213 pounds, he has the size and instincts to be an immediate contributor. Taylor, whose cousin is Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed, had three interceptions, one pick-six, 74 tackles, five for a loss, four PBUs and a blocked kick last fall.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Yes, you reading this COULD have come up with better Facts.
Round 7, Pick 229 - MJ Devonshire, CB, Pittsburgh:
NFL: Devonshire is a fast, tough competitor with size limitations. He was never a full-time starter in college but had strong ball production the past two years.
CBS Sports: B+. Long CB who has the frame of a nickel. Fast, decently explosive athlete. Best in press man near the line. Average to slightly above-average ball skills. Zone awareness not there yet. High floor type.
ESPN: The Raiders concluded their draft by taking their second cornerback of the day in Devonshire, who is more a physical defender who does not shy away from bump-and-run coverage than a speedy DB, though he did run a 4.45 40. The 5-foot-11, 186-pound Devonshire led Pitt with four interceptions last season, including a pick-six, and had 10 PBUs in 12 games with nine starts. Las Vegas split their eight draft picks evenly between offense (TE, G, OT, RB) and defense (two CBs, S, LB).
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Likes bologna on white bread with mustard - it’s a flat hotdog!

2024.05.19 08:43 PunctuateEquilibrium Worse MPG with a dashcam - what to do?

Hello Internet. I bought an 70mai dashcam about 5 months ago and noticed that I was getting worse MPG than before installing it. At first I thought it was because I was doing more city driving or using more A/C as the weather changed but I recently ran a test during a roadtrip on the highway where I drove the same route, same speeds etc. and got 15-20% lower MPG with the camera plugged in. The route was 40 miles for each leg and my mpg went from ~47 mpg to 39 mpg. I was also able to replicate this with city driving. The dashcam is hardwired to allow for parking surveillance so perhaps that setup is causing an issue.
Has anyone experienced this?
Projecting out this difference with gas prices and considering that our car isn't a Maserati, I'm wondering if it's worth using the dashcam with the lower mpg vs. accepting the risk of no camera but paying for repairs if something happens.

2024.05.19 08:36 Aelnorn Would you be so kind as to tear my situation apart?

I'm closer to retirement than not. Live frugally, invest everything I make which is about 1-2 every 2 weeks. My spending habits and credit card use are S+ tier and so is my credit score. I didn't think in the fire way until later in life so I know I'm mediocre here but I am perhaps looking for more risk to take on to speed things up. My life situation is very stable and I stand to inherit a lot of property including the one I live on now.
Breakdown:
560k in (unamed broker for security reasons) wealth management, concentrated in high growth. They buy and sell back there behind the trad IRA tax firewall which is nice and comfortable feeling for me as I see every trade they make. I watch them do 3-5% buys/sells all the time, they keep about 3-4k of cash in there. Much less than 1 percent in fees, which is easily worth it to me for peace of mind and researched constant decisions by them so I don't have to live in stress. Their holding look a lot like NASDAQ to me but it isn't exactly.
179k in unamed brokerage, my own mix. JEPQ, MM at ~5%, and AMLP. Currently mostly just stacking the MM and trying to build cash flow. I know it seems backward of conventional wisdom to keep such a taxable mix in taxable brokerage especially for the overwhelming majority here who are younger but I'm closer to the end of the line. This is how my main income stream will look once I am forced to take out of IRA. I like this mix as it keeps cash flow and over what I've observed seems to react well in different conditions. Plan is to equalize them all and just keep buying into the reds. AMLP might seem questionable to a lot of you, but I don't believe oil/natural gas is going anywhere in my lifetime, and this has the benefit of cashflow via pipeline rent vs. holding the actual commodity of oil. I can find few other funds that discorrelate from the market this way that seem reliable AND have cashflow. Furthermore it is the only qualified dividend to offset my other two completely taxable holdings (yeah yeah, JEPQ might do a return of capital once in a blue moon, it doesn't happen, didn't happen with JEPI either) as well as paying quarterly vs. the other two monthly to put my cashflow on a more broken up schedule.
Another 50k or so in a company 401k which is in a standard S&P ETF and unvested by 3.5 years.
I'm looking for every weakness you see in this, as well as perhaps more risk, or any suggestions. Thinking about swing trading still as I'm able to take on more risk, but I like little swing trades I see except maybe messing with QQQ in small amounts like 1k over some months.
"What are you doing, SCHD/VOO/VTAX and chill" I looked at SCHD a lot at the outset but it wasn't enough risk vs. return for me at the expensive levels it is and I'm unconvinced at a mostly hold I'm not going to sell either with lower divs, esp. when holding MM is now equal to their div. Furthermore, I believe the AI inherent in NASDAQ is going to eat lots of other market shares as we move into the future, making SCHD/Dow look more anemic by comparison year over year compared to NASDAQ. I don't feel particularly inclined to bleeding edge seek out AI etfs or anything new either, as NASDAQ/FAANG or whatever they're calling them now, Mag 7, already cover AI. A pure S&P fund won't do it for me because I don't believe in holding the bag on growth forever. I could run through a decade of S&P downturn where I needed to sell those years and get screwed. Instead I'll hold div funds and buy in during those times too, just like all times. A sell would only be for real emergency like medical.
I have developed this mindset where the value of money is relative to cash, representing inflation and government control, tech, represent the heart of commerce that drives the world, and oil and natural gas as they are the main source of power from which all industry flows, and my portfolio is designed to reflect this balance and play off a bit of hedging between them, or that is the ultimate goal anyway.
One reason I keep the wealth management guys is I view them as a pace car to check myself also.
I'm up 28 percent overall since I started this, between their 31 of pure growth back there behind IRA, vs my numbers plus my div cashflows in taxable. Maybe a bit better via the 401k I never look at since different annoying company forced broker.

2024.05.19 07:16 twitchingguy Shimano GRX for flat bar updates

I’m looking to buy a flat bar gravel bike and the one I’m looking at the FX Sport has the old GRX 600. I read that the new 8 and 6 series are much improved but are for drop bar only. Is it possible Trek will get a flat bar version for their bikes or does Shimano need to release it first? I’m not quite sure how that all works.
Also I’ve read the new 6 series incorporates old 8 series technology but couldn’t find specifics. I know it’s 12 vs 11 speed but wondered what other improvements were made.
I greatly prefer no front derailleur.

2024.05.19 06:52 Simple-Trust-9797 Kuroki is strong but not top 2 of the verse

Kuroki is strong but not top 2 of the verse
I Will debute the Main arguments Kuroki fans hace to say he is stronger that Gilbert, Edward and Tiger Niko.
1Kuroki forced Shen to block
This was showcased as impressive bye both Shen and Yan. But homestly is not that impressive. We need to remember that Shen was distracted at the moment and he did not want to fight Kuroki at the moment (See image 2) so he only caught Wulong bye surprise. Also Mukaku managed to do the same (against pre-nerfed Shen) so is not that impressive.
2Kuroki is the strongest man Wulong have ever met in Japan
See image 3. Keyword i have meet IN Japan not FROM Japan, so Tiger Niko can still be stronger than Kuroki. Lets remember TN after the gakigahara incident went to live to China. And most of his students with only exception of Kiryu and Ohma are from Japan. Also the worm, Yan, Ji and Shen are from China not from Japan so they probably met TN in China not in Japan. About Eddie and hence Gilbert, both of them are from England and because the worm is from China Shen probably met Eddie/Gil there. In the final chapter of Asura. Ji, Fei and Eddie were having a meet-up in Hong Kong not in Japan. So they probably make their meet ups in China not in Japan. This statement only goes For Ohma, Joji, Koga and Ryuki but not for TN and Eddie/Gil.
3Kuroki managed to damage Shen
Not that impressive considering hora superficial it was. He practically did the same amount of damage Rihito did to him back at R1 so it is not a big deal
4Kuroki continues to damage Shen
Here it comes the interesting part (See image 4 and 5) so most of people think this is impresive specially considering that Mukaku could not do the same to unnerfed Shen but was this Shen as powerful as the Shen Mukaku fought at the start? Nop, and it is NOT only the usage of half of his body. First Shen did not use any technique or principle, man was only using brute force. As comparison in the battle against Mukaku he used the things beyond PI and the point of force principle. Also he not used his other part of the body which is most important that it seems to be. By using only that Kuroki is able to be on guard for Shen attacks as well as coping with his speed. So yes that nerft was actually bigger than it seems. Finally he was constantly subestimating Kuroki calling him a weakling (See image 6). So Kuroki basically had a fight with a quicker Julius not an impressive feat.
5Kuroki damages Shen withouth Wulong dealing damage to him
Not impressive because he already knew Wulong was attacking him with only half of his body (Lets remember it was Kuroki the one Who pointed that out so he obviously took advantage of it) so it is really not a big deal
6Kuroki was not serious
I know Shen is the strongest of the verse but he is also an adulator. Lets remember he complemented Koga and Terashi lol so he does not have big standarts of strenght. Muteba Even said that Wulong give way too much lip service. So are we going to take that commentary 100% serious? Also Kuroki literally says that Shen does not have any openings (See image 4) so did he really has any other choice rather than hit Shen when Wulong hit him? No. So why did Shen said that? Because he only did that and he did not use PI (See image 5). So basically this was like Kuroki 80% (did not use PI) against Shen 15% (only brute force, linear attacks, half of his body and subestimating his opponent) so yeah serious Kuroki vs serious Shen is a no diff for Shen not even doubt it.
7Kuroki is close to being Shen rival
Gil/Eddie and TN were not mencioned so people say Kuroki is stronger than them. But (See image 9) he only mentions him because he fought against him recently. And most importantly he says he is CLOSE not that he is WORTHY so Kuroki is just like TN, Eddie and Gil strong men that are nothing compares to Wulong. Thus Kuroki is not stronger that any of them
8Shen says Mukaku is Master level for Gil and TN
This is used as an antifeat for both of them considering Mukaku is weaker than Kuroki. But this is a pretty vague statement. What does it means "Master level" is someone they would consider as strong? because Ohma and Shen thanks so. It is someone who is stronger than them? We really have no idea is a pretty vague statement to do precise conclusions from it.
CONCLUSIONS
So how strong is Kuroki. Well he would be top 5 being the top
1Wulong 2Luohan 3Tiger Niko 4Gilbet 5Kuroki 6Edward 7Yan
Kuroki is strong no doubt about it. Him being stomped throught a wall and surviving it with 0 drawbacks is a straight up baki level feat. So yeah he is strong but not as strong as most people think he is. So yeah stop with the slander of Gil and TN they are stronger than the beard.
Finally if you have any countrer arguments please send them. It would be interesting to see other points of view.

She survives battle so I like having the speed to regen her ult slightly faster, especially if/when not running with FUA comp.
From my testing, there isn't a huge difference between atk and phys orb. I need this orb on another character so in practice, I'm running phys until I get another atk orb. Specifically, my phys orb vs screenshotted attack orb difference: - 3516 atk vs 4027 atk - Concerto buff 1168 vs 1281 - Fu Xuan basic attack on Bubble Hound MOT 10 robin skill + concerto damage no significant difference, hits between 16k and 17k consistently
Hopefully can collect jades to pull E1 before banner ends.

When the cops in shows like Law and Order, Criminal Minds etc find out where the bad guy is and rush there, they do one of two things. They either have all sirens blaring, speeding, sending all units etc OR they say silent approach, lights off and only 1 or 2 cars. Is this a thing and if so, what cases are lights on vs lights off?

2024.05.19 06:20 Ronar123 Does the Ai try to sneak attack the player if I'm currently in a war? It doesn't say that the AI considers me a warmonger

I tend to get warred on less by neutral aggression civs when I passively grow vs when I need to kill an immediate threat. In a game as persia (deity standard speed continents) and I spawned next to mongolia. I move in to strike him down with immortals. During my war, carthage and incans joint war me from behind and take my capital and side city into an immediate loss. This isn't the first time either, anytime I try an early war I get hit by these surprise attacks from peaceful civs like india out of nowhere.
How do other deity players manage this?

2024.05.19 06:11 kanerkaner2 Running 2 Airmega 240s?

I currently have a coway airmega 240 and a 400. I recently purchased the 400 because I figured I needed a larger unit.
The 400 is louder than I would like, I can only really tolerate the noise on the low speed - vs I can tolerate the 240 on the medium speed. I also like the overall sound of the 240s more.
Would it be feasible to run two 240s at the same time+same room? Are there any issues with having multiple filters in one room ? They are much more quiet than the 400.

2024.05.19 05:44 eldhokurianek Rethinking Light’s Journey: A New Perspective on Its Absolute Path

Introduction
Einstein’s theory of special relativity revolutionized our understanding of the cosmos, introducing the idea that the speed of light remains constant for all observers, regardless of their motion. This foundation has stood unchallenged in mainstream physics for over a century. Yet, what if light’s behavior could be viewed from a different angle? What if, contrary to relativity, light actually travels in a straight, absolute path, unaffected by the motion of the source or the observer? This article explores a novel theory proposing just that, shedding light on a potentially groundbreaking perspective.
The Concept of an Absolute Light Path:
  1. Absolute Path vs. Relative Motion In Einstein's theory of special relativity, the motion of the source or observer affects the observed properties of light, such as its direction and the simultaneity of events. Relativity maintains that while the speed of light is constant for all observers, its path can appear different depending on the observer's state of motion relative to the light source. However, the new theory posits that light has a unique characteristic: due to its masslessness, it follows a fixed, absolute path in the universe, uninfluenced by the relative motion of observers or the source of light.
  2. Masslessness and Inertia Since light (photons) has no mass, it does not experience inertia. Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity. This includes changes to the speed or direction of an object's motion. For massive objects, inertia plays a crucial role in how they behave when forces are applied, and it is a key factor in how they are perceived in different reference frames in relativity. Since light lacks this property, according to the new theory, it does not adhere to these relativistic principles in the same way and maintains a trajectory that is absolute and not just a product of perceived motion.
  3. Implications of Light's Absolute Path If light truly travels in an absolute path, this implies the existence of a universal or absolute frame of reference from which the true path of light can be measured as a straight line, regardless of the observer's motion. This challenges the principle of relativity, which denies any universal frame of reference, positing instead that all motion is relative.
Visualizing the Theory:
Example - The Train Thought Experiment Revisited - Inside a Moving Train: If you're on a train moving forward and shine a flashlight straight up, according to relativity, both you and an external observer would agree that the light moves straight upward if measuring only in the train’s frame. But in the absolute path theory, you would see the light beam slant backward as the train moves forward, because, in your frame, the train (and thus you) are moving while the light's path is fixed. - From the Platform: A stationary observer on a platform, according to the new theory, would see the light's path as vertical if they are stationary in the absolute frame. If the platform observer is moving (say, the platform itself is on a moving body), they would see the light path tilted against their direction of motion.
Formula Application in Determining Absolute Motion or Rest:
The formula ( tan(A) = v/c ), where (A) represents the angle of deviation, (v) is the velocity of the observer relative to the proposed absolute frame, and (c) is the speed of light, is central to understanding how the theory of an absolute path for light could be applied practically to determine an object's state of motion or rest.
Understanding the Formula: The formula derives from the premise that light maintains an absolute path, unaffected by the motion of the source or the observer. If an observer moves relative to this absolute path, the light's trajectory appears to deviate or tilt relative to the observer’s motion. The angle of this deviation (A) can be calculated using the tangent function, which relates the opposite side (the perceived deviation in light's path) to the adjacent side (the original path of light).
Practical Use of the Formula: 1. Determining Motion: - Observer in Motion: When an observer is in motion, they will perceive the path of light as deviating from its vertical trajectory. The velocity (v) of the observer will influence the perceived angle of deviation (A). By measuring (A) and knowing (c), the observer can calculate their velocity (v) relative to the light’s absolute path. If (A) is non-zero, it implies that the observer is in motion relative to the absolute frame. - Observer at Rest: If an observer measures no deviation in the light's path ( A = 0 ), it implies that the tangent of (A) is zero, leading to (v = 0). This indicates that the observer is at rest with respect to the absolute frame of reference.
Conclusion:
This exploration into the possibility of light’s absolute path invites us to question and potentially expand our understanding of the universe. It challenges established norms and opens a dialogue about the very fabric of reality, encouraging further investigation and discussion within the scientific community.

2024.05.19 05:09 Maxton1811 Speedster Sacrificial Dodge

So, I’m running a Supers game for my friends and I’m trying to think of how best to incorporate a speedsters ability to get people out of danger. It is a decently common trope where speedsters grab someone as an attack is being made against them and take them out of danger (Red Rush vs. the Guardians for example), but I am struggling to represent this in GURPS. The sacrificial dodge rule is a good start, but I’m wondering how to modify it to account for super-speed allowing both involved individuals to avoid being hit. I was thinking that by sacrificing one of their maneuvers for their next turn, a speedster can make a dodge roll with some kind of penalty (maybe based on how much the other person weighs). On a success, both people are out of the way, on a fail one or both of them get hit. Does anyone have any other ideas for how I might do this?

Aura of Radiance (Su) The light of Lathander shines perpetually. No matter how dark it is, the Morninglord sees as though the conditions were identical to the outdoors at sunrise. This ability functions like darkvision out to 60 feet, except that he sees in color. Lathander also has a +2 sacred bonus on saving throws against spells with the darkness descriptor and a +2 sacred bonus to Armor Class against attacks from undead creatures.
Beam of Sunlight (Sp) Lathander can evoke a dazzling beam of intense light (the equivalent of a beam from the sunbeam spell) once per round as a full-round action as long as his radiant aura is active as a 56th level caster.
Blessing of Dawn (Su) The sight of the morning sun is an inspirational vision for the Morninglord. Lathander gains a +2 morale bonus on Will saves from sunrise until noon. This ability is in effect only while he can see the sun; the effect is suppressed any time he is deprived of the sight of it during this period.
Celestial Fortitude (Su) Lathander’s endurance and fortitude are enhanced against fiendish attacks. He has a +2 sacred bonus to all Fortitude saving throws against effects from evil outsiders and evil spells. Additionally, if he makes a successful Fortitude saving throw against an effect from an evil spell or evil outsider that normally deals half damage or partial effects on a successful save, he instead takes no damage and suffers no partial effects.
Celestial Minion (Sp) Lathander may summon a Medium or smaller size celestial animal (with the celestial creature template) as a standard action usable once a day. This celestial minion carries the same responsibilities as a paladin's special mount and gains the same bonuses to its HD, natural armor, Strength, Intelligence, and other special abilities that a paladin's special mount has, but only remains for 20 hours before returning to the outer plane from whence it came.
Creative Fire (Ex) The Morninglord is a creative, expressive deity. He has a bonus equal to his morninglord level on all Craft and Perform checks.
Divinity Lathander is an embodiment of ancient divine power. As such, reality is his to shape as he sees fit.
Alter Reality: Lathander may alter reality within the bounds of his portfolio. This functions as a wish spell that requires no XP or material cost. The limits of this ability are fully described in Deities and Demigods. He can additionally alter his size from Fine to Colossal and may additionally alter up to 100 pounds of objects in the same manner.
Avatar: Lathander can have up to 20 avatars at any given time. The Morninglord appears as a golden-skinned athletic male of exceeding beauty who has just fully entered early manhood. He wears noble robes constructed in the colors of the dawn, carries himself proudly, and dresses in the finest golden plate armor if attending to matters that might turn violent.
Divine Blast: Lathander can create a ray of divine power that extends for up to 17 miles, dealing up to 444 points of damage, as a ranged touch attack with no saving throw. Lathander can unleash a divine blast 23 times per day, and alter the visual, auditory and sensation-based qualities of his divine blast as he desires. Lathander’s divine blasts generally take the form of rays of fiery sunlight.
Divine Shield: As a free action 23 times per day, Lathander can create a shield that lasts 10 minutes and stops 170 points of damage from attacks. Once the shield stops that much damage, it collapses. Any damage Lathander is naturally immune to does not count towards the shield’s limits.
Earthmother’s Boon (unique salient divine ability) Chauntea is Lathander’s lover and has bestowed a degree of protection over her consort. By her grace, the Lord of the Dawn cannot be harmed by any nonmagical plant or any creature with less than 33 Hit Dice with the plant subtype. Epic creatures and creatures with equal or more than 33 Hit Dice must succeed at a Will save (DC 79) to harm the Morninglord.
Greater Turning (Su) Six times per day, Lathander may use greater turning as the granted power of the Sun domain. This is superseded by his Lord of the Dawn salient divine ability.
Lathander's Light (Su) Whenever Lathander casts a spell with the light descriptor, its area is doubled.
Lord of the Dawn (unique salient divine ability) Lathander is the sun. He is the light that drives back the darkness, the brilliant spark that lights the way out of night and the creative brilliance within every artist. His dominion over light and the sun, both physical and metaphysical, grants him a variety of powers as listed below:
Fires of the Sun: The light of the sun shields Lathander’s body. This protection renders Lathander immune to all forms of magical and nonmagical fire, with searing effects only dealing half damage. In addition, spells and spell-like abilities cast by Lathander from the Sun domain, or with the [fire] and [light] descriptors, are similarly enhanced and are always intensified.
Radiance of the Dawn: Lathander can shed light equal to full sunlight in a 17-mile emanation from his body that counters and dispels all Darkness effects unless created by a higher ranked deity. Undead and evil outsiders caught within the radius must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 79) or be destroyed and turned into dust. Creatures vulnerable to sunlight suffer a -17 penalty to the saving throw. A successful saving throw still deals 17d8 points of damage, while creatures vulnerable to sunlight suffer 17d12 points of damage.
Spark of Creativity: Lathander is the commander of creativity, the inspiration and muse for craftsmen and artists throughout the Realms. 17 times per day, Lathander may bestow a +17 divine bonus to any Craft or Performance check, or the Efficient Item Creation feat, to up to 17 creatures for the next 24 hours. Performances and non-magical items crafted beneath the aegis of this ability always earn three times the normal gold amount and have three times the listed market price in cost. Magical items crafted with the benefit of this ability add +17,000 gp to the listed market price and increase any numeric benefit (enhancement bonuses for the purpose of attack and damage rolls, armor and save bonuses and so forth) by +4.
Spurn the Profane: Lathander uses the totality of his character level to determine the effectiveness of his ability to smite evil, turn outsiders and undead as well as any of his feats that affect the undead. His turn attempts resolve as greater turnings (as the granted power of the Sun domain). In addition, Lathander adds his paladin spells to his clerical spell list, using the sum of both lists to determine his caster level.
Wrath of the Dawn: As a standard action Lathander can generate a ray of scorching light that extends for up to 17 miles and inflicts 17d6 points of damage, half fire and half divine. As a full attack option, he can generate up to four rays, and undead and evil outsiders suffer 17d12 points of damage. In addition, Lathander can duplicate the effects of any spell with the [light] descriptor as a standard action. (CL 65th, DC 50 plus spell level).
Maximize Turning (Su) Once per day, Lathander can automatically achieve the maximum possible result on a turning damage roll. This is superseded by his natural divine powers.
Radiant Aura (Su) Three times per day, Lathander can emanate an aura of brilliant light that weakens undead creatures for one minute. The aura provides bright illumination in a 30-foot radius around him, and shadowy illumination for an additional 30 feet beyond that. Creatures that take penalties in bright light also take them while within the radius of the bright aura. In addition, undead creatures within the radius of bright light take a —2 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws. Activating the radiant aura is a free action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. While his radiant aura is active, Lathander casts spells with the light descriptor at +2 caster level. The radiant aura is the equivalent of a 5th-level spell with the light descriptor for the purpose of interacting with spells and effects with the darkness descriptor.
Rejuvenation of the Morn (Su) Dawn is a powerful symbol of rebirth and renewal. Once per tenday, Lathander may spend one uninterrupted hour before dawn in prayer. As soon as the sun rises after this prayer ritual, he gains one benefit of his choice from the following list.
· Healing up to full normal hit points (self only).
· Removal of any poisons or diseases (self only). This effect does not restore ability damage or ability drain caused by poison or disease.
· Full restoration of ability damage due to one poison or disease.
If his prayers are interrupted for even a single round, the attempt is ruined, and he must wait a full tenday to try again.
Resist Fiendish Lure (Su) Lathander has a +4 sacred bonus to all saving throws against mind-affecting attacks of evil outsiders.
Possessions
Dawnspeaker, Lathander’s gold-and-ivory mace, is a +10 fiery blast ghost strike mighty disruption heavy mace of holy power and evil outsider and undead dread. When held by the Morninglord, it also functions as a holy devastator. The DC of the weapon’s disruption and dread abilities is 79, and creatures vulnerable to sunlight suffer a -17 penalty to saving throws made to resist Dawnspeaker’s abilities. Lathander is known to loan out Dawnspeaker to questors and warriors he deems worthy and can call it back to his hand from anywhere in the cosmos.
The Morninglord also occasionally wears a set of golden +8 full plate with the powers of an armor of the celestial battalion. The bonuses are not reflected in the above statistics.
Other Divine Powers As a greater deity, Lathander automatically receives the best possible result on any die roll he makes (including attack rolls, damage, checks, and saves). He treats a 1 on an attack roll or saving throw normally and not as an automatic failure. He is immortal. Senses Lathander can see (using normal vision or darkvision), hear, touch, and smell at a distance of 17 miles. As a standard action, he can perceive anything within 17 miles of his worshippers, holy sites, objects, or any location where one of his titles or name was spoken in the last hour. He can extend his senses to up to 20 locations at once. He can block the sensing power of deities of his rank or lower at up to two remote locations at once for 17 hours. Portfolio Sense Lathander is aware of any event under the light of the sun, competition or act of artistry of the number of people involved up to 17 weeks in the past and 17 weeks in the future. Automatic Actions Lathander can use any skill related to his portfolio as a free action if the DC for the task is 30 or lower. He can perform up to twenty such free actions each round. Create Magic Items Lathander can craft any magical item that associated with heat and light, aids in self-empowerment, preserves or restores vitality or harms the undead, including artifacts.

Eternal Rest [Ravenloft: Legacy of Blood 71]
Necromancy
Level: Cleric 6
Components: V, S, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: Ray (see text)
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will partial (see text)
Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell creates a ray of golden light that destroys one undead creature’s material body (if it has one), causing it to crumble to dust, which is then wafted away in a swirling breeze. This spell affects incorporeal undead without the usual incorporeal miss chance, and such a creature merely winks out of existence if it fails its save. If the target makes a successful save, it still takes 6d6 points of damage. If the creature has a special quality that allows it to return after destruction (such as a vampire’s fast healing power or a ghost’s rejuvenation power), the creature gains a bonus equal to its Charisma modifier on its saving throw. If such a creature fails its saving throw against this spell, it must make a successful Will save at the same DC (also with its Charisma modifier as a bonus) to return. If the creature’s method of return normally requires a saving throw (as a ghost’s rejuvenation power does), the creature must first make that saving throw, then make the Will saving throw against this spell.
You can improve your chance of success by presenting at least one object or substance that the target hates, fears, or otherwise finds repulsive or painful (such as a mirror and bud of garlic for a vampire). For each such object or substance, you gain a +1 bonus on your caster level check to overcome the target’s spell resistance (if any), and the spell’s saving throw DC increases by +1. A particular creature’s history might suggest additional objects or substances that would make the spell more effective.
This spell can also be cast when an undead creature has been physically destroyed and its remains are not present. In this case, the spell must be aimed at the spot where the creature was destroyed, and it must be used within 1 minute of the undead creature’s destruction. No attack roll is required for this use of the spell.
This spell can destroy an undead darklord’s physical form, but it cannot prevent the darklord from returning.

Green: +1 magical beast-bane good-aligned arrows.
Blue: +1 undead-bane lawful-aligned arrows.

Only the caster is able to use the bow, quiver, and arrows. They appear immediately back in the caster’s possession if dropped or given away, though the caster may drop the bow and quiver to use another item, but can rematerialize them at will, as a free action. The bow, quiver, and arrows have no weight and cannot be disarmed or sundered.
Know True Name [Kalamar: Player’s Guide 3.0 177]
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]

Casting Time: 1 action
Ranged: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft. / 2 levels)
Target: One fiend
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates

2024.05.19 04:36 abr_a_cadabr_a SLA vs newer MSLA printers?

A few years ago, I looked into the difference between standard SLA and the first MSLA coming on the market. Voxels were definitely noticeable on these early MSLA printers.
I'm considering SLA vs MSLA, but I'm also seeing that standard steered laser SLA seems to be giving way to MSLA in the market due to output speed. I'm not terribly worried about output speed, but I would like to make precise interlocking parts and I'm worried about MSLA voxels.
Has that situation improved with these higher resolution MSLA printers? How obnoxious is it really? Will SLA always have a place in the low volume/high-precision space?

2024.05.19 04:19 ramen_king64 Help! Asus GT6 slow LAN speeds. Different speedtest readings from router vs speedtest.net

Hey guys, I have a question, I have recently 'upgraded' from my Google Wifi (1st gen) to the Asus GT6, I have my PC directly connected to the router but I am getting 2/3 (1gb plan) of the speed I am used to. I turned off QoS, Traffic monitoring off and replaced my ethernet cable but still no luck. Weird thing is the Router speed test is showing I am on full speed 990mbps down but speedtest.net is hovering around 500-700mbps down. Up are consistent on both ends around 40-45 so that isnt the concern. Anyone know what I can do to remedy this?
