Este é o estado da minha situação com internet na minha residência:
Uso internet 4G há cerca de 7 anos, desde que tenho links 4G conto com os dedos das mãos a quantidade de vezes que consegui ter velocidades maiores que 50Mbps ou uma conexão estável. Antes do 4G tive ADSL mas chegou a um ponto que para abrir uma pesquisa Google demorava mais de 5 minutos. O cabeamento estava degradado e eles não quiseram nem colocar fibra ótica nem consertar o cabeamento ADSL existente na minha zona.
Mudei então de operadora, na altura para a Vodafone (4G), apanhava cerca de 20mbps e era limitada a 100Gb/Mês, deu para aguentar o contrato de fidelização de 2 anos e mudei para a NOS. Foi a pior decisão que fiz, a NET até chegava de vez em quando a 20/25mbps mas era só na hora em que todos iam dormir. Durante o dia não passava de 5mbps. Houveram mais outros problemas relacionados com limitação de dados, mesmo dizendo que era um serviço ilimitado, mas não vou estender muito sobre isso...Foi então que fizemos reclamação do serviço e cancelamos contrato após +- 1 ano.
Estou desde então com MEO 4G em que maior parte dos dias está por volta dos 20/30mbps download e 5mbps upload. Em dias execionais chega a picos de 60mbps download e frequentemente há quebras de ligação com velocidades horrendas de +-700kbps e latências a chegar por volta dos 1000/2000ms.

Já ando a algum tempo a considerar experimentar starlink, visto que estamos em 2024 e ainda não há previsão nem interesse de nenhuma operadora na instalação fibra na minha zona :) (btw tenho postes com PDOs fibra ativos, onde hoje em dia oferecem velocidades Gigabit, a 2km de onde moro desde o tempo que tenho ADSL)
Alguém que já tenha passado por uma situação semelhante e/ou tenha neste momento starlink residencial pode dar feedback de como é o serviço?

Seems Like uploads have gotten better in my area.

My parents live in a rural subdivision about 6 miles east of Paso Robles, California. On my advice, about 7-8 years ago, they ditched AT&T ADSL (nameplate 6m/768k but regularly 1m/256k during evening hours) for a local WISP with a 3m/3m plan for $39/mo, eventually upgrading to their 9m/9m plan for $72/mo.
Their experience with the WISP was fine (as was mine on my frequent visits), my only complaint being the single-digit speed tiers and a relatively high ping with a lot of jitter (~60ms pings to Los Angeles, but all over the map from 20ms to 100ms—I ended up just killing the VoIP landline I'd set up for them, since it never worked well)--this despite LOS to a tower on a hill right behind their house perhaps half a mile away. (I'm guessing unlicensed spectrum and some amount of interference?) Speeds were consistent, though, so all was good.
As an early Christmas present, my brother bought them a Dishy and signed them up for Starlink, and I'm out here now visiting for the holidays and have put the Starlink service through extensive testing. I really hadn't paid a ton of attention to Starlink's technical fundamentals or user experiences except to note the spate of recent complaints online about speeds dropping precipitously, but I was initially disappointed that they'd dropped the trusty old local WISP for a satellite service.
I have to say that I'm quite blown away at Starlink.
The end-user experience is much more like that of a WISP or LTE/5G home Internet than a satellite service. I knew the satellites were in LEO, but I didn't realize that they were not much further over my head than Los Angeles is from here, so the latency is not even perceptible.
Real-world speeds run from ~40-50mbps down in peak evening hours to a shave over 200mbps at night. A very few times, it's dropped down to ~15mbps, but I haven't seen it in the single digits as some online complaints have indicated. Latency is shockingly low and regularly less than their old WISP (typically 40ms but I've seen it as low as 20ms). The only slight disappointment has been the typically single-digit upload speed. I haven't noticed any outages; the local Dishy status page showed a 2-second outage early one morning the other day that hasn't recurred. I've held Slack huddles and VoIP calls over it that were virtually indistinguishable from ones I hold on my fiber connection at home.

What I find most surprising about all of this is that despite the actual reality of Starlink (which basically puts LTE-quality Internet in reach of anyone, especially rural residents), all three of the local WISPs still only offer speed tiers that barely reach the very slowest speeds that Starlink sees at the worst peak-of-peak hours.
Obviously, as a big tech company owned by an eccentric billionaire (who also happens to own the rocket-launching company it heavily relies on), Starlink isn't under pressure to turn an immediate profit, which puts them at an advantage over a small business that needs to feed the owner's kids. But still, it seems like the general principle of the wireless link being shorter and closer to the end-user allowing faster and more reliable connections should apply.
So there's my question: why aren't WISPs able to offer similar service? The wholesale cost of bandwidth is still a factor but has dropped significantly over the last decade. Is the equipment that lets WISPs deliver 100mbps or 500mbps to end users just crazy expensive or something? (I know it exists; I have a friend in urban Chicago who has a 500mbps circuit with low ping over licensed spectrum, but I don't typically see WISPs in rural areas like my parents' house in Paso Robles or my family's homes in rural Missouri offering anything like that.) Is it complicated for a small operator to learn and set up? I know companies like Mikrotik and Ubiquiti have low-cost high-bandwidth wireless links--is there a reason those can't be used? Is it just inertia by WISP operators who figure that what they have is good enough and don't think Starlink is a threat because it's expensive and/or hard to get?
I want WISPs to succeed; all in all, I'd much rather give money to a local business (especially one that can provide good local support) instead of an eccentric billionaire who seems to be getting more and more eccentric. I also prefer that spectrum be used efficiently, and local wireless links are a much more efficient use of limited spectrum than thousands of satellites each broadcasting their signals over thousands of square miles, leaving Starlink to cover those areas so remote that Starlink is the only option. It seems a head-scratcher to me why it isn't just normal for a local WISP to offer faster, more reliable Internet than Starlink at a similar or lower cost...and yet that doesn't seem to be the case.
I hope the WISP industry realizes what the competition is and figures out a way to offer a better product so these operators that have worked hard to build their businesses can stick around for the long haul.
