Last night (2024-05-18 23:00(UTC +2)) I updated my system via konsole. When I restarted my machine upon update completion, my icons on the panel had changed, my wallpaper had changed. All the widgets on my dekstop(4 clocks, 2 timers, 1 sticky note) had vanished. Chrome fonts and the calendar widget font on my panel were now appearing in bold.
As I couldn't quite figure it out. I did a system restore with Timeshift.
I then went on the Manjaro Forum and saw these instructions under "Known issues and solutions" pertaining to this update:

If you use KDE you better logout of your session and do the update via Pacman or Pamac in tty.Also I would, before the update: 1. make a Timeshift snapshot if you ain’t got no recent one. 2.( export content of widgets like your radio stations in Advanced Radio Player or your Podcasts in Kasts or any podcatcher as a backup ) make a fresh boot, but before that even: 3. System Settings > Appearance > Global Theme > set to Breath and tick both options for defaults 4. You might go to the hamburger menu in System Settings and look what changes you made away from default by selecting: Highlight Changed Settings and see if you want to make the effort to get back more defaults 5. System Settings > Workspace > Startup and Shutdown: SDDM defaults and Desktop Session: Start with empty session 6. disable all user-installed widgets that are still on your desktop, panels and even lock screen or wallpaper (e.g. Active Blur) 7. Export your custom shortcuts or mouse gestures in SS> Workspace > Shortcuts 8. Reboot, Timeshift snapshot, reboot 9. then do not log in, do the update via tty (CTRL+ALT+F3, same with F2 gets you back) 10. reboot, login, check through System Settings 11. reboot again 12. enjoy 8) post-install: 1. look for Plasma 6 replacements for your widgets after the install 2. in case you have Github-installed theming: uninstall the KDE5-version of klassy, install the Plasma 6 version of klassy, maybe reinstall lightly 

Aside from these steps what other steps can I take to backup my panel, desktop widgets, fonts and icon appearance and settings?

I recently bought a second UP2716D (used) for my partner, she liked mine and it has worked well for us when used to edit photos. When trying to run callibration with my xrite device I realised this 2nd monitor doesn't have a working USB.
I have used all of the same cables and computer from the working monitor on the new one but USB isn't working. I have tested the USB port with a mouse which wont work, when plugging in an external drive the drive boots up but isn't recognised in Windows (11). All of this works with the other monitor.
Device manager doesn't find any new devices and the monitor is listed. HDMI or mDP cables are connected to the monitor. The USB menu is greyed out when I have the USB cable plugged in.
How can I resolve this? My partner really wants to use this monitor for herself to edit photos and before we do this I want to callibrate it so both monitors are the same.

I’ve just started play GTA San Andreas, and often when I enter to look at the map and then resume the game again, the mouse stops working so I cannot move my camera.
I’ve tried running the game on one Core Processor and changing the compatibly back to Windows 7 to no avail.
I’m playing the original version, not the definitive edition.
Any help would be great thanks.

so of cause i noticed the phenomenon already some years ago? it's around for a while..
i never really paid much attention to it... i just overhear the tracks when my wife is scrolling some social media.
but i just heard another down-pitched/slowed version of a rihanna song... and now i can't hold it and have to ask:
why do many of these pitched versions sound so legit in their freq-spectrum and character? it sounds like they were actualle re-produced? (re-recorded vocals, re-programmed drums at least?) to be honest it didn't even sound like rihanna vocals anymore, so it's close to calling it a "cover", BUT then again, when the pre-chorus/chorus hits, everything (production, vocal choirs...) is the same like original...
if i take the masterfile of any track, lets say a rihanna track and pitch/slow it down a fifth in my daw, i feel like i can hear instantly, that it is not the original pitch, especially vocal overtones/highend and drums (kick pitch or decay times) seem like obvious signs.
these social-media pitched versions, i must admit, i did NOT analyse at my studio speakers. i've been judging them only by hearing from smartphones/tablet... maybe a mistake.
still, i feel like it seems there a versions with super high pitched vocs (mickey mouse style, even with the fast wobbly vibrato of sped up natural vocal vibrato), but the drums sit proper in the low end... impossible if you just take a master...
this can't be all AI, right? i've been listening to some AI productions that the sound company i'm working with, sold to customers. and it does NOT sound anywhere near human production at the moment. but maybe there is some unknown expensive AI services that do a far better job? idk
some of these versions are simply re-produced, right?

I tried to play with a gamepad, and of course all the UI is modified to be usable with joysticks.
But I'm puzzled by the font change. Why are all the fonts (even in the main menu) not the same with mouse/keyboard and gamepad?

Lately I've been shocked by the difference between Palestinian messaging and how it is understood in the west. In their original 1988 charter, Hamas clearly lays out their goal of annihilating Israel and Jews through Jihad (Islamic Holy War).

'Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.' (Preamble)
'The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.' (Article 7)
'The day the enemies usurp part of Moslem land, Jihad becomes the individual duty of every Moslem. In the face of the Jews' usurpation, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised.' (Article 15)

The magnitude of this anti-Jew and anti-Israel ideology is such that it is a core part of Palestinian youth education and media. There are many examples, but here are just a few. The first two would be humorous if they weren't so diabolical.

This propaganda has real-world effects. Dozens of Palestinian children are used as suicide bombers. To me, this might take the cake for some of the most ugly and perverse actions I've ever seen. I'd encourage people to read through this page if any.
Hamas's actions are in line with their stated aims. On October 7, Hamas and Gazan civilians can be seen celebrating over dead Israeli bodies. One video shows Gazans cheering, dancing, and spitting on dead naked Israeli woman, reflecting the fact that systemic rape on Oct 7 occurred. Over 70% of Palestinians support the actions on Oct 7. Hamas has promised to repeat Oct 7 again and again.
We also see this ideology reflected in the Palestinian Authority's "Pay for Slay", a fund that pays West Bank Palestinians a stipend for committing terrorism against Israel.
The point of sharing these things is not to demonize Palestinians or make any type of justification. The point is that in the west, we mistranslate this conflict into a framework that we comprehend and sympathize with. For most westerners, it's difficult to commiserate with religious fundamentalists and accept that they might want different things than we do (such as using billions of dollars in aid for terrorism instead of infrastructure). SJP would have you believe that Hamas wants to "decolonize" Palestine and Oct 7 was "resistance". Israel is the "white" oppressor, and Palestine is the oppressed--a framework we are all too familiar with. We assume that Hamas wants coexistence, when their words and actions have shown the opposite.
The "From the river to the sea" chant was created in the 60s and has historically been used by Hamas among other groups as a call to destroy Israel. A variation of the phrase in Arabic is "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be Arab". Yet in the west we associate the phrase with Palestinian "liberation", a concept that we can relate to. Consider the absurdity of someone waving a swastika and claiming that it's a Buddhist good fortune symbol. But this is essentially happening at colleges across the US, along with intifada chants. Israel's conduct in the war, modern settlements, and the failures of the Israeli government are different topics--I just wanted to elucidate how westerners downplay religious and ideological factors, despite Hamas themselves displaying their intent to destroy Israel and Jews.

Hey guys, so this is an extension of Ianxofour's voidless void trading set up but made to be fully automatic for getting an infinite number of emeralds in survival. It uses two string trading villagers, a string duper some where on the rail, and a pretty simple AHK script to automate everything. Idk how y'all feel about scripts, but it makes my Minecraft experience more fun so I use them in my survival worlds...
The way it works is that you double click the top edge of the button while sitting in a minecart to open the trading menu and send you far enough from the villager that when you trade it doesn't consume the villager's trade inventory. The string duplicator makes sure you never run out of string. The script does all this but also every 40 trades, it empties your inventory into a chest so that you can fill your inventory with emeralds again.
Build Instructions:

1. Create Ianxofour's voidless void trading set up with two fisherman villagers, with the rail running in the east west direction. One side will serve as the "starting side" for the purposes of the script, in the picture it is the left one.
2. Create a string duplicator such that the string drops over the player rail (plenty of videos on this on YT)
3. When facing the villager on the starting side in the player minecart, place a chest on your right one block up with two air blocks between you and the chest. (This is for emptying your inventory so it can be run for longer)

Script "as is" requirements:
The villager on the starting side needs to have string as the second trade, and the other side must have string as the first trade. 1920x1080 monitor, GUI size auto.
Use Instructions:
Enter windowed mode. Set your render and simulation distance to the minimum. Sit in the minecart on the starting side facing the villager, and looking straight down. Use f3 to make sure you are perfectly aligned. With the script running, press ctrl-g to start the farm. To exit the script press ctrl-esc

The script is not perfect, but on my machine is extremely consistent and works overnight. Things like the amount your mouse moves can be changed to work with your computer if you so desire. Additionally you could mess with timings and rail design to optimize. On my survival world I have two string dupers since just one doesn't generate enough string.
I realize it would be outclassed by something using the end gateways, but I hate dealing with transporting mobs more than anything. Just thinking about it I'm getting flashbacks to making a shulker farm.
Simplest Version

This is probably a long shot but reddit has done a great many things with little to no info. My previous hardrive with my os died on me and I lost the driver i was used for my tablet. I have an XP-Pen Artist 12 pro but the driver from them does not suit my means. The way i had my previous set up, the mouse scroll wheel was what i had set for my tablet wheel rotation so i had a nice slow and smooth zoom. It was pretty jarring zooming without that feature and really frustrates me because my whole flow is changed. The only thing i remember about the driver was the icon in the windows system tray was a white square with a pen and a wavy green/blue colored line. If anyone could help me figure it out, it would be helpful!
Edit: Yes i know i could add more levels of zoom in the scale menu but who has time for all that? I'm not gonna waste hours putting in so many increments when i knew i had it working before without all that.

Who should be sold? Who should be bought or extended?
I know the playoffs just ended for us minutes ago, but let's not get carried away: yes, the postseason could have gone better, but considering this was this squad's first ever time together, we did incredible.
The big issue I saw was rebounding. Our starting center grabbed 3 boards in his first elimination game. This is not to say Chet is bad. Chet is incredible, and a great #2 option who will only become a better defender with time (and Imo, the only true threat to Wemby as far as young defenders go).
I also don't think our guys choked in the playoffs. Shai has proven he is a playoff performer after only his 2nd time in the playoffs (really his first time since the bubble is Mickey Mouse), and it was everyone else's first time in a real playoff series too. Our only "playoffs" before this was against a Pelicans team missing their #1 option. I don't think anybody should be sold because they're trash, only because they should be upgraded.

I don't need any Sony Buff passes or Universal Rewards.

You little mickey mouse, dont be snitchin now

Hello,
I'm a first time user of RetroArch using the app on iPhone/iPad, which just became available as the first „real" game emulator app within the EU on the official AppStore. I have been using OpenEmu on my MacBook before so far. So far, my ROMs run fine with the RetroArch app on iPhone/iPad, but man, the user interface seems to be one of the biggest messes l've ever seen.
After trying to configure it for a bit, I somehow got stuck in a state, where I now can't get back to pure touch navigation anymore and I have no idea what to do.
I can either navigate the menu only with a virtual joystick (which can be suppressed to only show the menu) or actual joystick (see first image) with no touch navigation enabled, or I can tap in the upper left corner and switch to a keyboard view (see second image), where touch navigation suddenly becomes available again, but then I can't get rid of this goddamn keyboard anymore.
Could anyone help me out here on how to get back into a state without this on-screen keyboard, where at the same time touch navigation by pressing with the finger on menu items is working again?
I also have no idea, what the „Direct Mouse Input", that can be selected in the upper left corner is actually doing, as switching it on or off doesn't seem to change anything, in case the solution might have to do with this feature.

Obviously, spoilers for the game and the collectibles.
I'm thinking that, originally, the mascot for the park/Indigo was Lloyd, who was to Indigo what Mickey Mouse is to Disney. This is supported by his appearance in the original video of the opening for the park, as well as the retro-style collectible that Rambley confirms they only made for Lloyd (and then has a meltdown in his explanation over it).
I want to think that Rambley was a newer character who featured in something that saw him achieve incredible popularity, and then he became the 'main' mascot of the park.
Was this because of some supernatural, dark machination made by the spirit of Rambley the actual character? (God, I hope not). I personally think it would be much more interesting if this was just a routine business decision by the higher ups at Indigo, one that obviously impacted the 'real' characters. Sort of like if, in the real world, Mickey Mouse got replaced by Stitch as the Disney mascot or something (or Duffy, if we want to talk about the Disney parks in the Asian market).
Anyway, with all of this said, I will not be surprised if it's revealed that Rambley and his friends are actually the villain here, and Lloyd is the unexpected hero. After all, the Lloyd mascot doesn't straight up murder you.
I almost didn't post this because it seemed so obvious, but I haven't seen anyone else say it, so I figured— why not?
