2024.04.29 05:26 Agreeable-Ad4806 The deeper significations do the signs as ascendants (Part 10: Cancer)

Preface: this is for Vedic astrology and so refers to sidereal Cancer, not tropical cancer.
Cancer is a symbolic gateway to the realm of manifestation, where the primal cosmic vibration, Pranava, underwent differentiation into four fundamental entities, corresponding to the multifaceted aspects of Brahma: Vaisvanara, Hiranyagarbha, Prajna, and Ishvara. This process shows how the unified essence of Pranava is fragmented into distinct forms, each embodying a unique aspect of divine consciousness. Furthermore, Cancer is believed to encapsulate the essence of Parabrahman, the supreme reality, through its manifestation of the fourfold nature of existence: Sthula (physical), Sukshma (subtle), Bija (causal), and Sakshi (the silent witness). These facets represent the underlying substratum of reality, encompassing both the tangible and intangible dimensions of existence. Cancer is also associated with the four states of consciousness, elucidating the journey of the soul through various levels of awareness: Jagrath (wakeful), Sushupati (dreamful sleep), Turiya (deep sleep), and Nirvana (deep meditation). Each state unveils a distinct aspect of the soul's journey, from the mundane realm of everyday wakefulness to the depths of meditative absorption. These attributes are suggestive of the fact that Cancer has a wide range of operation and operates in the subjective as well as the objective realm of manifestation. The profundity of Hindu scriptures necessitates meticulous study and meditation to unveil the significance of their myriad symbols. Yet, it is understood that the cosmic manifestation, as delineated in these scriptures, encompasses both outer and inner realities, existing across dimensions with varying states of consciousness corresponding to diverse levels of manifestation. Cancer symbolizes the juncture where consciousness and matter were liberated from Pranava's unity within the Trinity. It explicates the interaction of time and space on the involutionary path of the soul and therefore can be confusing to pin down.
Cancer rules the natural fourth house in the zodiac. And despite what most traditional Western* astrologers will try to tell you, the significance of Cancer ruling the 4th house is very important, both to the essential meaning of this house and the sign itself. The number four holds a connection with the genesis of differentiation, acting as the stage of material cosmic creation. In Hindu mythology, Brahma epitomizes this stage of manifestation, depicted with four heads, a deeply important symbolic representation. Within the human constitution, the lower quaternary— encompassing the physical body, etheric double, astral body, and lower mental body— is transient, dissipating after each incarnation. Conversely, the higher triad, comprising the causal body, intuitive body, and spiritual body, serves as an enduring vessel of the human monad. Cancer signifies the moment of differentiation wherein the higher triad begets the lower quaternary. Brahma's four heads symbolize this quaternary, while also assuming multifaceted roles, such as overseeing the Cardinal directions and housing the four Vedas, among other functions. Each tier of manifestation harbors its distinct state of consciousness along with its presiding deity. And in the context of Vedic astrology, this symbolism holds many implications for understanding the significance of Cancer ruling the fourth house. The fourth house in Vedic astrology is not only about the physical home and family ties but also about one's karmic roots and emotional foundations. It delves into ancestral lineage and the imprints of time passed. It is the foundation of our inner world of emotions and subconscious mind. Often referred to as the bhava of the heart in Vedic astrology, the 4th house symbolizes the core of one's being and the sanctuary of the soul. As the ruler of the natural fourth house with which it gains its connection, Cancer holds sway over this inner sanctum, influencing how individuals perceive and experience their emotional landscape. Cancer's nurturing and sensitive qualities enliven the fourth house with a deep sense of security, comfort, and well-being, represented by the Moon. Just as the fourth house signifies the dwelling place of the soul within, Cancer's association with Brahma's four heads and the differentiation process speaks to the intricate layers of the subconscious mind. It suggests that, within the inner sanctum of the fourth house lie the seeds of karmic influence, ancestral memories, and emotional patterns carried over from past lives. In this way, both Cancer and the 4th house demonstrate the cosmic storehouse of our karmic heritage. It is the seed of our beginnings that later blossoms into the tree of our culminated experience.
Delving even deeper into the significations of Cancer, we see that it is representative of the Hindu concept of the Hiranyagarbha, often translated as the "golden womb" or "golden egg." Described in scriptures such as the Rigveda and the Upanishads, Hiranyagarbha symbolizes the primordial cosmic matrix from which the universe emanates. According to the Rigveda, Hiranyagarbha emerges from the cosmic waters, representing the potentiality of creation encapsulated within a golden egg. This cosmic egg contains the seeds of existence, embodying the latent energy that precedes manifestation. The Chandogya Upanishad further elaborates on Hiranyagarbha, depicting it as the source of all life and consciousness, from which the cosmos unfolds in its myriad forms. Thus, Hiranyagarbha represents the ultimate origin and substratum of the universe, symbolizing the infinite potentiality that gives rise to creation. In Vedic astrology, the association between Cancer and Hiranyagarbha lies in their shared symbolism of primordial creation and cosmic potentiality. Just as Hiranyagarbha represents the cosmic womb from which the universe emerges, Cancer is the gateway to manifestation of the creative principle. Both concepts signify the beginning nurture of creation, embodying the fertile essence from which all life arises and the subjective principle is concretized.
The core defining characteristics of Cancer, which illuminate its intrinsic nature, have been aptly portrayed as "saumya" (gentle), feminine, moveable, and watery, endowed with nocturnal strength and an affinity for aquatic habitats such as ponds or sandbanks. A cursory examination of these attributes demonstrates how the nuanced consciousness, increasingly entwined across various levels of manifestation, be it exoteric, esoteric, causal, or the Sakshi level, finds meaning in these descriptors. Water, often heralded as the essence of life manifesting in diverse forms, serves as a fitting emblem for Cancer. It is colorless, odorless, and seemingly without form, yet it nourishes and sustains all living entities. It is not uncommon for individuals under the Cancer ascendant to retreat from the mainstream of life, metaphorically excavating holes into the realm of materiality, thus grounding themselves in earthly pursuits. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for other people to come to them. When Cancer is the Ascendant, the individual will function like a mighty ocean; diverse kinds of people will present to them their woes and sorrows, problems and confusion, and the Cancer native will enlighten and sustain them, assuaging their sorrows. Like water, Cancer is moveable, adaptable, and elusive. The societal milieu and environmental context in which an individual resides play an important role in shaping their fundamental nature. In different circumstances, they will be different people. And while this is true to a degree for all people, for Cancer-born individuals specifically, the context in which they are found will affect them deeply, reflecting the karmas of nurture. The feminine principle in nature (you can think of it like Yin, which is also a Sanskrit word), often synonymous with Prakriti, embodies the receptive aspect of creation, serving as the conduit for Purusha. Individuals born under the sign of Cancer are often similar to this principle, assuming the role of a vessel through which circumstances shape their being as mentioned before. They exhibit a propensity to yield to external forces, allowing events to mold their destiny without attempting to assert their own influence. This inclination, however, does not imply a lack of preferences, emotions, or willpower though; rather, their sensitivity is such that their innermost thoughts and feelings are transparently reflected in their demeanor and actions. Their gentle but sometimes tough temperament gives to them a uniquely graceful and commanding aura, and for that, they are often glorified yet victimized by society, seen both as the conniving seductress and the doting mother.
The ruler of Cancer, the Moon, perpetually expands when bathed in the radiance of the Sun's reflection, yet wanes in its absence, creating an intimate link between Cancer and the Sun. This proximity is evident in the positioning of Leo, the domicile of the Sun, adjacent to Cancer, lending a distinctive quality to this lunar-ruled sign. Cancer possesses the capacity to reflect the sublime glory of the divine, embodying the noblest form of spiritual manifestation and willingly sacrificing personal ego at the altar of the higher triad. However, Cancer remains fully individuated, possessing a keen awareness of its actions. Spiritually, those born under Cancer transform into occultists rather than mere psychics; in politics, they emerge as kingmakers rather than monarchs; in sports, they assume the role of coach over player; and as educators, they serve as guides rather than authoritarian figures. The potential for expansion and growth within Cancer ascendants is vast. They may exhibit tendencies toward materialism or inertia (tamas/ignorance), yet possess the capacity to delve into the essence of existence for spirituality. Nevertheless, the inherent traits of crab-like tenacity, egotism, or self-awareness persist, occasionally manifesting as over-occupation in mundane affairs. Hence, the ancient seers aptly categorized Cancer as either a Brahmin or a Sudra, showing that there can be myriad contradictions observed within Cancer ascendants, ranging from stark individualism to the unparalleled generosity of selfless service—from apparent folly to profound understanding.
Cancer experiences Jupiter's exaltation and Mars's debilitation. The Moon's dominion over human emotions grants Cancer ascendants a natural predisposition towards emotional tranquility, often remaining unruffled even amid life's most challenging crises. Their serenity is most pronounced when personal desires yield to a focus on the universal life force symbolized by the Sun. Jupiter, the divine counselor, holds heightened sway within Cancer, guiding aspirants towards their spiritual destination. Cancer individuals excel as educators, aided by the sign's supportive influence, which extends to facilitating deeper levels of meditation. Even those unversed in formal meditative practices may find themselves drawn to introspection, contemplation, and deep thought. Emotional fervor, aggressive pursuits, and the quest for personal glory pose risks for Cancer individuals. Despite Mars's debilitation in this sign, it serves as a yoga-karaka due to its rulership over the 5th and 10th houses. Consequently, Cancer ascendants thrive when they transcend personal concerns and courageously engage in activities related to the earth, such as agriculture, transportation, warfare, medicine, and mechanical engineering. Their detached demeanor positions them as adept advisors, leaders, scientists, inventors, and even artists.
For Cancer individuals, Saturn, the planet of constriction, presents significant challenges. The inclination towards thoughts of suicide can arise naturally due to Saturn's influence, especially as it governs the 7th and 8th houses, predisposing individuals towards self-annihilation. On a physical level, this may manifest as a life marked by misery, sorrow, poor health, anemia, depressive episodes, and a bleak outlook. However, for those advanced souls traversing the path of withdrawal, Saturn can inspire a life of renunciation, dedication, and altruistic endeavors for universal welfare. The trials faced by Cancer ascendants often extend to their marital life. They may not find common marital happiness, not due to sexual incompetence, but rather psychological complexities. Despite their dynamic mental nature, Cancer individuals may struggle with commitment, leading to dissatisfaction in monogamous relationships. While fidelity may not be at risk, a deep-seated dissatisfaction with the mundane aspects of married life can drive them away from marital bonds, leading to divorce, attempts to escape, or the creation of unbearable psychological complexities that undermine marital love. Cancer ascendants often postpone or enter into marriage later in life due to their ambivalence towards assuming the responsibilities of married life. Despite longing for affection and companionship, they harbor undefined fears regarding marriage. They may appear respectable and desire marriage until it becomes a reality, at which point they may seek to extricate themselves from it. They may engage in clandestine affairs while pining for the stability of marriage but feeling suffocated once within it. While they may excel as lovers, they often struggle as married partners, growing resentful of the perceived constraints imposed by stable relationships. Partners of Cancer individuals in such marriages may warrant careful psychological analysis due to the complexities involved.
Cancer individuals are drawn to material wealth and worldly success, but often find such achievements unfulfilling. They oscillate between pursuit and renunciation, which can be emotionally draining without a commitment to letting go of worldly attachments. They have a unique relationship with Venusian individuals, often gravitating towards those deeply entrenched in worldly pursuits. This may lead them to associate with individuals engaged in morally questionable behaviors, even if they themselves are spiritually evolved. They may feel a sense of duty to help such individuals, whether through medical treatment or spiritual guidance, driven by compassion and a strong sense of responsibility.
Cancer individuals are inherently adaptable, thriving amidst both opulent luxury and dire adversity, each situation unveiling new facets of their personality. Trials and tribulations serve to dismantle their selfish egos and peel away the outer layers of their inner life. Regardless of circumstances, Cancer individuals yearn for the unattainable, perpetually dissatisfied with their current state and constantly striving for advancement. This is not in the way Virgo does by seeking and being discontented with a state of imperfection; rather, it is simply a growing discomfort with simply being alive. The journey of the Cancer Lagna resembles that of a caterpillar entering a chrysalis to transform into a butterfly. They must undergo various stages of evolution before reaching maturity. This process fuels their introspection, prompting them to document their experiences and aspirations, often seeking self-validation but struggling to find solace. When directed outwardly, Cancer ascendants can catalyze significant social change, quietly and persistently advocating for a new societal order, but when directed inwardly, they can spiral into utter hopelessness, not for others but for themselves, as they feel so detached and victimized by the world around them.
Jupiter, governing the 9th and 10th houses from Cancer, offers vast opportunities for expansion to Cancer ascendants. With Mars in a favorable position (as the ruler of the 10th house and exalted in Capricorn), individuals can continually evolve and ascend to great heights of success. However, maintaining balance is crucial to prevent potential downfall. As politicians, they must remain vigilant about their party's position; as scientists, they must remain dedicated to their research; and as spiritual teachers, they must seek higher initiations. While materialism may offer discipline for them, they are prone to experiencing great highs followed by significant lows. Success as occultists is within their grasp, but without it, they can suffer greatly. This can lead to spiritual advancement though, so it is somewhat of a confounding predicament.
I am really not as spiritually inclined as you might think, so for me, it is hard not to feel bad for Cancer and Libra ascendants due to the unique level of vulnerability they are presented with in terms of suffering from their romantic partners. It also kind of hurts more to know that these are the only two Rashis ruled by distinctly feminine planets, suggesting that the feminine principle — both procreative and sustaining— is inherently subject to abuse.

2024.03.28 06:34 Frosty_Strawberry_57 OTT & ITV sopa fusion

Did anyone watch 'Kehne ko humsafar hain' & 'karle tu bhi mohabbat' on ALT balaji? I remember binge watching during lockdown and I was obsessed. I am sad that Karle tu bhi mohabbat never got an ending and was shelved abruptly. There were a few more similar shows but I don't remember their names. I think both these shows were a perfect blend of OTT & ITV and can cater to a larger audience if promoted in the right way. It has some typical family drama, FL-ML stuff but at the same time offered better execution, fresh story, limited episodes & more coherent storyline. Something we can enjoy with our mothers, you know. I wish they would make more shows like that. Also I am very biased towards Mona Singh, Sakshi Tanwar & Gurdeep kohli. I love those ladies.

2024.03.24 07:34 Hypothetically-Yours What are your thoughts about the Kriti Sanon dating rumours which are almost confirmed?

She's supposedly dating Sakshi Dhoni's friend Kabir, whom she was introduced to via her sister Nupur.
I did honestly see Kriti as somebody who will marry outside the industry, probably to some businessman or NRI. But this guy is also very young compared to her.
Will we witness another Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas or will this not last long enough?

2024.02.22 04:00 Beginning-Lime1760 Tea about stylemeupwithsakshi

So here is tea for you guys early morning. I cannot disclose my source as a little hint would lead to getting her caught.
She told me all this few days ago and I forgot about it but wedding content of Sakshi keeps popping and it is so cringe so here you go.
It is not a fairytale as you see. For context Sakshi and Raghav are dating since several years but among these years Raghav has cheated on her several times. Both of them come from affluent and rich families and their relationship is well accepted among thier families but Raghav has a habit of cheating and manipulating. He also gaslights her by making her feel that he is a score due to some eye issue and weight issue Sakshi has.
Although there was a curated proposal in exotic foreign location but there families had offically met regarding marriage several months before that and they had planned that they will get married late 2023 or early 2024.
Now coming to worst part Raghav again cheated on her just few months before official proposal and she got to know as the girl confronted and made big issue as she got to know Raghav is getting married to Sakshi, now I don't get why she still made amends, accepted proposal and got married. I am just amazed at hypocrisy of these influencers and we mango people go gaga over thier curated life and I won't lie I was thinking she has best life and wedding of her dreams but then I got to know this.
One funny anecdote is that Sakshi was bitching about Khurana sisters that they are making her wedding all about themselves and being so extra and was very pissed. I guess that's why we are not seeing other content creators much in her main wedding content.

2024.01.24 22:06 Naudilent Views and Reviews: Horror from India

Prior to this week, I’ve only seen two horror films from India: Tumbbad, which has a terrific mythological backdrop and a very cool story; and Asvins, which has a very good mythological backdrop, but the vast majority of the movie consists of the main characters running around aimlessly while gasping in terror. A decent ending, but nothing I’d recommend. There’s a lot more Indian horror out there, though — the focus of this week’s installment. Some general observations:
The TL;DR In order from most liked to least enjoyed. None of them were better than Tummbad nor worse than Asvins, and each had at least a few appreciable qualities. Bhoot: Overdone but fun. Demonte Colony: Comedic for most of its runtime, it has a solidly spooky side. Andhaghaaram: Nearly 3 hours long, the weirdness of the situation helped me get through it. Ghoul: A worthy tale of sacrifice, suspicion, and obedience to authority. Also a magical killer. Bulbbul: A romantic supernatural mystery, though it gives away its own secrets. Chhorii: A good story that suffers from rough pacing. Betaal: One episode too long and with a laughable concept, it’s like a spoof played straight.
Bhoot (2003): “You are lying. I’m going to die.” It opens with a series of disjointed images and sounds followed by a tour of Bombay apartments. Sure, a lady jumped to her death, but Vishal needs a place and isn’t superstitious — he’ll take it! Soon after, his wife Swati begins to see things…then do things. Has she lost her mind or is a haunting to blame? It’s a pretty wild film, from the severe camera angles, dramatic edits full of dramatic music, the pointing of the camera at people seeing what the viewer wants to see, and some…interesting characters. Urmila Matondkar channels Isabelle Adjani in Possession (1981); while Swati never reaches the insanity Anna does, it’s only because the script doesn’t go that direction. Bhoot is one of the most overdone-yet-serious movies I’ve seen, and while it’s occasionally comical, the character of Vishal keeps it grounded just enough. Ram Gopal Varma is a celebrated Indian director across multiple genres; I hope to check out more of his other horror work. Based on Bhoot, they should at least by entertaining. Gore: None. Nudity: None. Tubi
Demonte Colony (2015): “I have an idea. It can’t go wrong.” Twenty minutes into this “horror thriller” you’ll be thinking “someone left off the comedy tag” — the sudden dance number confirms it. Anyway, four friends have drinks then go to a mansion called Demonte Colony, reputed to be haunted (and a real-world place in Chennai, southeast India), a plan which produces problems of a supernatural nature. It remains comedic even as shit gets real, but horror does happen, and there are some good moments, if nothing groundbreaking. While it has some slow moments in the early going, it’s a pretty fun movie. A hit upon release, the trailer for its sequel released in December, and the writer-director hopes for a 3rd and 4th installment. Gore: Low. Nudity: None. Amazon Prime
Ghoul (2018, 3 episodes, just over 2 hours): “He seems to be fine now, sir.” Ghoul is a joint venture between Blumhouse Productions and other groups, and written by filmmaker Patrick Graham based on a dream he had. It’s the near future in an India (even more) dominated by religious ultra-nationalists, and Nida Rahim is learning “advanced interrogation” in service to the government. She reminds me of Udo Kier in Mark of the Devil (1977), the junior member of the Inquisition learning the ropes of interrogating and executing witches, and Clarice from Silence of the Lambs. In this case, her Hannibal Lector is Ali Saeed, a recently caught terrorist and/or freedom fighter who knows…a lot. The story has some questionable narrative elements and decision making, but on the whole I found Ghoul well directed and well acted, and there’s a “who’s who?” aspect to parts of it that was very enjoyable. It was a little overlong, but the pace constantly picks up over time, and the episodic nature of the whole makes it easy to complete. Gore: Moderate. TW: Scenes of torture. Nudity: None. Tropes of Shame: Dude facing the corner. Black eyes. Netflix
Betaal (2020, 4 episodes, just over 3 hours): “Come with me. And try not to faint.” A government-backed corporation wants to relocate poor locals to tunnel through their lands, resulting in Bad Stuff — the sort of plot that formed the backbone of many a Sci-Fi pictures original in ages past. It’s a zombie movie and proceeds like one in some respects; sometimes the zombies behave interestingly, but most of the time they are the usual ravening hordes. There are characters that both match and break stereotypes; the greedy Mudhalvan is a total caricature of evil corporate shitbag. Like Ghoul (from the same production team), there are some narrative issues, but it has more humor, too (just a little). It’s two main issues are that it’s overlong (it should have been 3 episodes like Ghoul) and how the zombies start off interesting and get less so quickly. Also, the ending is lol. Gore: Moderate. Nudity: None. Trope of Shame: Another guy facing a corner. Netflix.
Andhaghaaram (2020): “You seem to have a problem for every solution.” A blind librarian, a not quite murdered psychiatrist, and a disconsolate cricket coach walk into a horror movie. They don’t know one another but are gradually drawn together, intersecting with some kind of evil spirit. It’s a long movie, bordering 3 hours, but the pacing is reasonable, pushed along by good direction, editing, score, and performances. The spooks are quite good, but it’s a movie you need to pay attention to in order to track what’s going on. Some reveals may not work for everyone — and the exposition at the end may be necessary but feels unfortunate — but overall it’s a very good movie despite the time investment. Gore: Quite low. TW: Suicide. Nudity: None. Netflix.
Bulbbul (2020): “The only thing personal in a woman’s life is her husband.” It’s 1881, and Bulbbul is getting married. She’s a total babe (literally, like 6 years old), and her very adult husband is a man of wealth. Flash forward 20 years, and things have changed. Also, there’s a demon-woman killing people in the forest. With opulent visuals, Bulbbul’s story takes place through ongoing narrative and flashbacks. Most of the movie deals with unrequited love amidst tradition, with the fraction involving the demon-woman casting a shadow over the whole. It’s more gothic romantic horror than creature-feature, and those expecting “real” horror might be disappointed, though there’s a common theme to the killings that’s appealing. A major downside is that, while the script does its best to conceal the identity of the killer, the answer isn’t surprising at all. Still, it’s a pretty watch. Gore: Low. TW: Wife-beating, rape. Nudity: None. Trivial: The word translated as “demon-woman” is chudail, similar to a creature I used in one of my tabletop games. Netflix
Chhorii (2021): Hemant owes money to the wrong people, so he and his very gravid wife Sakshi take off to the hinterlands to hide in the remote home of his chauffeur. The chauffeur and his wife are a friendly pair — if deeply traditional — but haunting and secrets abound. While Chhorii has some occasional horrific imagery, it doesn’t pack a lot of punch; the score does most of the work. Exposition and repetition offset the pacing, and the effort to make specific (if valid) points about feminist issues in India results in heavy-handed dialogue and one note characters. Ultimately, the plot is sound, but even its 2 hour run time isn’t enough to provide a well-rounded experience. Gore: Minimal. Nudity: None. Amazon Prime
I have more Indian movies on my list. Any thoughts on the selections above or others worth checking out?

Why has Hina Khan failed to make it in bollywood or ott like her contemporaries on TV who were much smaller star than her?
Her indie short films produced by her bf rocky have been premiered at Cannes 2-3 times and her recent film also produced by her bf made it to oscars list... Why is she not able to bag a single project and just doing what her bf is producing? She has the fan following and looks so what's missing?? Her contemporaries like Ankita Lokhande, Mrunal Thakur, Karishma Tanna, Riddhi Dogra, Sakshi Tanwar, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Mona and many others have done some pretty good work across films and ott so it definitely doesn't seem to be the TV tag which she claimed during Cannes Film Festival... Even bigg boss contestants like Shehnaaz etc have been able to bag mainstream bollywood projects... Does anyone have any tea on why she hasn't been able to grab a single project even after being such a bigger name?

Most Watched Indian Films of 2010s By Footfalls
Most people often refer to box office numbers to judge a film's success but factors like inflation, geographical reach and means of consumption (single screen or multiplex) can greatly alter results. Footfalls are the real indicator of a film's popularity.
We can observe that in this era:
  • The number of footfalls increased compared to the previous decade.
  • Baahubali: The Conclusion tops the list as 2010s was the period when South Indian cinema emerged as a superpower in Indian entertainment. In my opinion, that's what this decade will be most remembered for in the upcoming years.
  • Most of the big films of this era were headlined by Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, because SRK was facing a career downturn post 2014.
  • Surprisingly, Akshay Kumar doesn't appear on this list even though he was one of the biggest names at the time.
  • Masala movies made a comeback during this decade.
  • Sanju and Dangal mark a trend of making biopics that existed during 2010s, including Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Mary Kom (2014), Neerja (2016), MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), Azhar (2016), and Manikarnika (2019).
  • This list includes films of two new genres that didn't exist before: Baahubali: The Conclusion (fantasy epic) and PK (satire).
Actors with most appearances in the list: - Salman Khan: 4 - Aamir Khan: 3 - Anushka Sharma: 2 - Katrina Kaif: 2 - Paresh Rawal: 2

2023.12.19 17:55 SorrynotStrawberry What happened to the quality of actors?

We initially had actors like Smriti Irani, Sakshi Tanwar, Shweta Kawatra, Priya Wal, Mandira Bedi, Mona Ambegoankar, Mona Singh, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Manav Gohil and their likes. They could act well, their craze could put many Bollywood celebrities to shame and they carried themselves with such charisma and poise.
Even so many years later, their personality reflects on their instagrams as well. They are voracious readers, well-traveled and their homes are tastefully done up. Many of their children are incoming students of international universities of great prestige and repute.
Then came the second generation of television actors, the likes of Jennifer Winget, Sanaya Irani, Karan Wahi, Ritvik Dhanjani, Ravi Dubey, Riddhi Dogra, Surbhi Chandna, Surbhi Jyoti, Nia Sharma, Krystle D’Souza, Karan Tacker, Drashti Dhami etc.
While personally, to me, their personalities aren’t aspirational, they are appealing. Many of them are building a life for themselves. Some of them are modern without any pretences of anachronistic propriety. They are having fun and do enjoy a fandom of their own.
Then there are the surfeit of faces that plaster the screens of the idiot box across spread across most channels. Neither are they articulate, nor do their personalities entice people into becoming members of their fan clubs. They aren’t ethereal beauties and the men are brawny with constipated faces at best. They struggle to emote and their diction is indistinct. Their interviews are vacuous at worst and chucklesome at best.

2023.11.07 08:33 curiouscat_92 Convinced girlfriend to break up

In my close friend circle there’s a girl who’s younger than all of us, and is rightfully the baby of the group. She’s the sweetest person and she can light up any room she walks into. She’s also pretty un-modest when it comes to clothes. She has a great body and can confidently carry anything she wears. Let’s call her Sakshi for this post.
She was in a relationship with this nutjob who lives with his parents and expects her to take up wifely duties on girlfriend designation. She even booked all his doctors appointments for him as an example. When it came to wedding talks, he said he would continue to stay with his parents and girlfriend would need to move in. And Sakshi started considering it seriously and came to us for advice.
Now the boy’s family is a conservative right wing marwadi who infantilise their 28 year old son. They want a sanskari gori housewife bahu and Sakshi is not gori, (she’s very pretty though) and she works for FAANG. This guy has never had to do any chore or run errands. He has 0 idea on how to use the broom and is equally clueless on how to shop for vegetables. He’s a people pleasing doormat and would never take a stand for Sakshi even when one of his friends made some very colourful remarks towards her and we threw him out of the house party. His excuse? “Well he was polite”.
So we asked Sakshi to hit the breaks and evaluate how her life would be if she got married and lived with him. She was initially of the opinion that he’ll change after marriage and his family would accommodate her. But when she actually discussed the list of topics we carefully curated for her, the incompatibility was glaring. She eventually pulled the plug on this relationship and we went to Chikmaglur to celebrate this weekend. All of us are super proud of her for believing her worth.
TLDR: Made girlfriend break up with POS boyfriend. Women deserve so much more than men who barely meet the standards. It’s always difficult to spot red flags from inside the relationship.

Which according to you is the best KWK episode? Mods remove if post breaks rules.
I've been doing KWK reruns and stumbled across this episode last night with Ekta Kapoor, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Hiten Tejwani and I have to say I had a blast watching it. It was packed with humour and some wise lines said by Ekta. Hiten was absolutely a feast to look at. Ram and Ronit brought in the comedy. Even though Ekta Kapoor is a "nepo-kid" or whatever, one cannot deny how well behaved and eloquent she was on the show. This might be the only interview I've seen of her other than the Season 1 interview.
Most of the guests in the last two seasons of KWK have been repeat guests except Samantha, Kiara and a few others. I also loved the underrated episodes of Smriti Irani, Sakshi Tanwar, Rakhi Sawant, Carol Gracias, etc. Some of my other favourite episodes include the one with Emraan Hashmi, Freida Pinto, DP & PC, Konkona, and Tabu.
