2024.05.21 17:28 Ok_Butterscotch_719 AITA for contacting our landlady about my roommate-"friend"'s scam?

So I've been friends with - lets call him Steve - for over 10 years. We've hung out loads of times, talked about many things, a good friendship.
Backstory before getting into the real issue: He cheated on his girlfriend, whom he was living with, so she left him and moved out abruptly. He couldn't afford the rent on his own, and I was looking for a new apartment, so I thought it would be win/win if I moved in, so I did. He said that rent was 750$ all included per person, and it sounded reasonable to me, especially with the current housing crisis in Canada. (Hi fellow Canadians!)
Fast forward, we get papers explaining the rent increase, and he doesn't understand them so he shows them to me. I notice that our increased rent would be a total of 985$. Which made me go "Huh?" because, reminder, I pay 750$. He said "Oh don't mind that" but spoiler alert - I did mind that.
Days later, I asked him what everything (rent, wifi, electricity, etc.) costs so I could make myself a budget. He said "No worries, I already told you it's 750$/person everything included" and I played innocent and said "Yeah but I really need each cost separately so I can plan out my budget efficiently" - so he disclosed the costs.
And so I discovered that if I paid half of everything, it would cost me 690$ all-included. For those like me who suck at math, that means I pay 750$ to cover all costs while he only pays 630$.
I confronted him and he said that he never said I would pay half of everything - he made me a "friend deal" of 750$ all included. He said that if we weren't friends, it would cost me 800$ and I wouldn't have access to the living room.
I told him that I agreed to pay 750$ because he said it was per person, insinuating that he, the other person, was paying the same. I said that I would therefore pay the real price - 690$ - from now moving forward. He said that it's impossible and that I'm a horrible friend for going back on my word.
He tried calling my best friend so she would convince me that what he's doing is totally fair. She's my best friend, so she was already aware of the whole situation, but she played dumb just to see what he would say his version of events is.
She asked him what everything costs - he lied and added 5-10$ to every charge to make it seem like not as much of a discrepancy and possibly a slight miscalculation.
She badgered him to know what I get extra for paying extra - to which he had no answer, and finally confessed that I pay more than him because it was the only way he could make his budget work. She told him that I'm not responsible for paying part of his budget, and he was apparently flabbergasted by that.
She suggested to write out 2 contracts; one that I would pay half of everything, and that I swear to do half the chores (which he said I never do). In the other one, I would pay 750$ as agreed, but he swears to do all of the chores. Then I'd choose which one to sign. Obviously, I'd choose the first one, but I have yet to see any contract.
Then he started hiding the toilet paper. I wish I were kidding. I had to start buying toilet paper and hiding it in my room.
SO. Here's where the AITA question comes in. Our landlady has no idea that he's subleasing his rooms. Hell, I doubt she even knows that I live there. AITA for thinking about informing her about the whole situation and risking my friend getting kicked out?
For those who want more backstory, here are my current living conditions.
His girlfriend - the girl he cheated on his previous girlfriend with - is ALWAYS over here - doesn't pay a single penny - and I wouldn't mind if she had respect for me and our surroundings.
She wakes me up on weekends at 8am by blasting a Spanish podcast in the kitchen instead of listening it with headphones and/or in my roommate's room. My room is right next to the kitchen.
She eats cinnamon-flavoured toast every morning - I'm allergic to cinnamon.
I have to wash the bathtub every time I want to take a shower because she leaves clumps of long dark hair. My hair is pink, so it's obviously not mine.
I allowed access to my Netflix account, and she changed all the settings to Spanish without even asking me first.
I told her and my friend about all these issues, but they keep happening as if I never said a thing.

2024.05.21 17:24 Professional_Prune11 Escape From Heavalun Section Three: Doctoral Dread

Whats up my dudes, we are back at it with another chapter for you all. We are getting the swing of things and have another chapter or two to start the main plot fully, we are just getting to know our leads for now. I hope you enjoy
Lets get this bread
-----
The movement from the nightclub to Stitch’s clinic was grueling. Typically lugging a passed-out HVI or some other sod halfway across the city's district would not be a challenge. With his cybernetics, Conor was in decent enough shape and could sprint ten kilometers in full battle rattle without breaking a sweat, but Conor had pushed himself and didn’t need to wax a few Voodal in his way.
Conor had heard that Kurlatra were dense, but his assumptions about how heavy they were came nowhere close to the reality of picking one up.
Whatever this woman's name was, she likely weighed north of eighty kilograms. It was a shock because she was a meter and a half tall at most. For Urka’s sake, Conor only weighed one hundred and fifty kilograms despite being two meters tall and filled to the brim with wires.
He thought a bit about the woman's build and realized why she must weigh so much. She had hips and legs that could crush a man's skull. Along with a pair of tits just big enough that they would overflow from your hands.
Conner was made all the more well aware of those traits as he adjusted her to ensure he would not drop the little lass. Her fatty chest and plump thighs would try to swallow his hip each time he did. No sentient this small had any right being heavier than his entire breacher kit, explosives, anti-rifle armor, and all.
If not for Brakul expecting this rosey scag to be delivered to Stitch’s place, Conor would have lugged her to his safe house, which was far closer. But no, he had another job and order to follow.
The only shining light on this impromptu extraction was that the Voodal did not follow him. He had been worried about that last ganger he had shot; they had only eaten one round through the midchest. At the time, it looked like it might not have been a heart shot, and since he was picking this bimbo up at the time, he did not have a chance to ensure they were put down permanently.
Conor took a deep breath as he rounded the corner into a dirty alleyway, leaving the bustling thoroughfare behind. Thankfully, the residents of Heavalun knew better than to mess with him or anyone else who regularly did mercenary work, especially when they were carrying a body—alive or not.
Those who stopped his type tended not to live long, so he was ignored other than a few passing glances.
After traveling a few meters into the alleyway, Conor stopped and tucked behind a dumpster. His feet squelched in a puddle of rank trash water leaking from the impromptu cover. While Conor was reasonably sure no one had followed him, a quick double-check was always good for his skin.
Conor did not want to bring trouble to Stitch’s place. He did not have the slightest idea where he would find another techy who could synthesize the cocktail of stimulants Stitch made to keep his broken body held together. Pissing the tech head off was not high on his priority list.
Over the next ten minutes, the only thing his thermal vision picked up between him and the main road was a few Zlit rats scurrying atop discarded food. Their fleshy tendrils groped the garbage and pulled it into maws of razor-sharp teeth.
The sight of them sent a shiver down his spine. Those foul little mammals were high on his list of hated creatures, having been bitten by them more than once since he was a kid slinking around the gutters of Heavalun.
Pushing those memories away, Conor traveled deeper and rounded a blind corner. The sounds of the crowd's chatter entirely vanished as he entered the backstreet where Stitch’s clinic was nestled.
The rest of the journey was only a few hundred meters and only required Conor to sidestep some used needles and shit; He also had to kick one homeless bum who tried to grab the girl out of the cover of his jacket. Usually, he would have just shot the piece of hreck shit, but with his hands full, a swift boot to the jaw got the message across.
With the bum limping away, broken jaw clutched in pain, Conor hammered on the metal door; its frame and the neon sign to its side quivered under his brute strength. Then began the worst part of dealing with Stitch, waiting for the asshole to open the door.
Conor waited until ten minutes had passed and received no answer. Then he punched the door harder, his metal hand denting the surface. Several seconds later, a heavily synthesized voice echoed out of the speakers hidden around the area—speakers that Conor had never been able to locate, no matter how fervently he tried.
“What do you want, Conor?” Stitch questioned. “Did you break more of your wiring?”
Conor sighed heavily, knowing Stitch had this entire block wired with multispectrum cameras and could see him a kilometer out. If this were a visit for his wiring, Stitch would know. The man was just being paranoid and wanted Conor to state his business.
“I got a girl I need you to check up on,” Conor said, pushing his jacket slightly open and letting the girl's ref scales shine.
“What another hooker pass out on a bad trip?” Stitch chuckled cruelly. “This is the fourth this month; you are getting soft merc.”
Rolling his eyes, Conor could admit he was softer than most of the other mercenaries and gangsters in the city's neutral sections. Having seen his fair share of how bad this city can be, Conor did his best not to fuck over those who were just down on bad times and were not trying to cause him issues.
Life was arduous enough for them. So he gave back by lugging hookers and junkies to the nearest tech head and paying for their treatment or the closest Zential clinic. The Zentials were more than willing to treat the downtrodden for free, unlike the other medical services in Heavalun—stitch included.
He considered it his way of giving back and maybe finding Urka's good grace. Perhaps the god might forgive him for being a general piece of hreck shit if he continued to until he did. But he would not know until he finally kicked the bucket.
His intervention was a drop of clean water in the ocean of venom in this city. The other locals were more than willing to pick those he aided clean in minutes. They might as well be a swarm of bealit beatles eating carrion with how ravenous they were.
“It ain’t that. Just open the damn door,” Conor growled, punching the door again.
“Hold on, you greased-up cyborg,” Stitch frantically complained, worried that Conor would break his door again.
Conor smirked, glad the strange form of tolerance he and Stitch had built over the years was still strong. At this point, it was their modus operandi. Neither hated the other; no, they respected one another's role in this shithole.
Both toles put them in harm's way and brought them respect and infamy.
However, Conor found the way the denizens of Heavalun treated them funny. If you asked the average COS or GU citizen, who was more brutal: a mercenary with a pension for hyper-violence and little regard for collateral damage—-or a skeletal Itelv doctor who regularly performs life-saving surgery? They would choose Conor ten out of ten times. They did not know Stitch like Conor, Brakul, or most of the people in this city section.
They would tell you the truth of the good doctor.
They would weave you a tale of a greedy, crit-pinching asshole and that Stitch was the type of man who would stitch up for pay but would just as quickly harvest your organs for sale, or Urka forbid he would stick some experimental tech inside you and wait for your inevitable death to retrieve his property.
The door at long last opened with a vile hiss, and a gangly grey-skinned hand forced it open.
Stitch was just about as tall as Conor. But his thin grey limbs made him look one stiff breeze away from taking flight, with only his heavy artificial spider-like legs keeping him firmly on the planet.
Draped over his pencil-thin neck was a once-white apron. After years of use, it was stained with blood, oil, and hydraulic fluid.
“If she ain't one of your precious hookers, put her on the table. I will get my tool ready,” Stitch hissed, jamming his thumb over a shoulder.
“I ain’t selling this one to you either. Girlie got tagged by visage, and I need yah to treat her,” Conor replied, pushing past and laying the blonde on the recovery bed.
“You said she ain’t some hooker,” Stitch complained following, having gotten tired of Conor no longer bringing him fresh meat to sell.
Once Conor turned around and was about to explain the situation, Stitch pressed a bony finger into Conor's chest. “I told you, I'm selling the next one. She is it,”
“Can it doc. She is a client,” Conor replied. “Or are you going to explain to Brakul why you cut her up?”
Stitch clicked his tongue but did not try to move closer. His glassy, verdant eyes pulled Conor and the girl apart as he weighed the pros and cons of allying with Conor and Brakul another time.
“What is in it for me?” Stitch questioned, tapping a finger on a scalpel attached to his tool belt.
Conor sighed, realizing he should have expected this question, but he was not the broker of deals. That was Brakul’s schtick, and he was running late.
“You can take her jewelry and any credsticks you find on her. Alright?” Conor replied, knowing Brakul likely would have made a similar deal.
Stitch nodded and slinked closer to the woman. He lifted the necklace from her chest and carefully examined the jewels with a prudish eye any good businessman should have. After Stitch activated his magnified eyes, his cornea glowed gold, letting him see the atoms of the shiny trinket.
The doctor grinned cruelly, letting his crystalline teeth show proudly. The sight was unsettling and made Conor grip his pistol, fearing the doctor would flip his shit and decide it was not enough payment and try to cut the girl up.
But he did not start to slice her skin open. Instead, he sniggered nearly uncontrollably for a few moments, then spoke. “Yes, yes, yes. This will do just fine,” He sneered.
Conor was unsure what the jewels were, but they must be worth far more than he initially thought. For Urka's sake, Stitch was drooling on the necklace and the passed-out girl's chest.
“Good. So you will take care of her?” Conor questioned, needing to hear an assured answer.
Quickly slipping the jewelry into his pocket, Stitch looked back at Conor, his demeanor having done a complete one-eighty. “Of course, I always have room for paying customers.”
“Oh sweet, Conor, you handled the deal,” Brakul said, having just stepped in through the doors.
Why Brakul was allowed unfettered access to Stitch’s clinic and Conor was not something Conor had wondered for years but had accepted it as something to do with their role in the duo.
“Yeah, and he will watch the client. But we had yet to lay out the finer details,” Conor explained.
“Ah, no issue, I can take it from here,” Brakul replied.

2024.05.21 17:22 cokebinge Deep dive WordPress site

Hi,
I’m attempting to get a website made for some physical products I sell.
Please appreciate I’ve had an ongoing interest in computing my whole life but am in no terms an expert in anything, especially web development of which I have close to no experience with. I can appreciate my lack of knowledge in this field and appreciate any input. Please assume I know nothing and am asking the entirely wrong questions.
It’s a site I expect will generate a bit of organic traffic as it’s a niche product you wouldn’t necessarily go to Amazon or eBay for and feel like payment processing is required for both convenience and product legitimacy.
From some cursory research I think I’ve decided to settle with a self hosted (Not a physical server I’m running, just managing and in control of) WordPress site that uses WooCommerce and Stripe.
As it’s a niche product I think there’s some chance I can do well with SEO and probably AdWords.
My main questions are about the architectural choices I’m making and whether or not they will turn out to be more trouble than they are worth down the line.
It might be helpful to list some of the assumptions I’ve made:
  1. More devs are familiar with WP and it’s a lot quicker to build out sites therefore cheaper compared to websites built from the ground up - Also if I need a different person to change it up in the future, it’ll be easier as it isn’t custom made.
  2. WooCommerce and Stripe are cheap, well supported, well known and integrate with WP easily.
  3. Building out a WP site as opposed to paying for something like Shopify yearly, isn’t a false economy, if managed, perpetually.
Considering themes and plugins. What I want out of the website is for it to be fast loading, not full of bloat, good for SEO, easy to work on and security conscious where possible. Some plugins I understand are necessary and what makes WordPress a quick and easy tool to work with in the first place but I’d like to keep them to a functional minimum.
Aside question: What are the main vectors for security compromise? I’d have to assume it’s abandoned plugins, plugins turned malicious, databases and insecure forms? In this context is there a distinction between plugins and themes or are they equal problem areas?
// Plugins
I want to keep plugins to a bare minimum as mentioned for performance and security reasons.
Yoast or Rank Math - Both apparently offer the same thing and seem well known within the community. I feel these are tools that I could make use of as I would like to rank on search engines. Is there a big value difference between the plugins themselves and also with the paid versions?
WP Rocket - I don’t understand caching and how it works but this plugin seems popular and apparently helps quite a lot with load times which I can appreciate as a massive value add.
WooCommerce - A necessary condition if I want ecommerce functionality.
PCI compliance - What is this, is it necessary and if so how do it build it in, in a sensible way?
Analytics plugins
See bottom of post - re: Compliance
Any plugins of value that I’ve missed or should I be right with these?
// Themes
Themes aren’t something I know a lot about. I assume they have a huge effect on page load times and also assume that the more well known themes would be easier for a larger designedeveloper base to work on as they are probably already familiar with them.
Themes I’ve heard thrown around a lot are Elementor and Astra. Am I right in seeing Elementor as more of a page builder lots of WordPress devs can use to “Make their own themes” and Astra as just a straight up theme?
If demanding Astra, am I taking a position of restricting the creative liberty of the designer at the ostensibly safer and/or more optimised Astra theme? Or have I got this wrong? Admittedly I have done very little research on WordPress themes and any input here would be much appreciated.
// Backups
UpdraftPlus - Looks to be a plugin that’ll backup and export data out. What are the security considerations here? Any value to the paid version?
Are there other plugins that do a better job, cheaper?
// Security
For my small ecom website, are these security plugins bloat or value?
Sucuri
Wordfence
Are the premium versions worth it? Have I missed any ?
// Legal and compliance
I don’t know much about tracking and marketing but assume I’ll want to pursue social media marketing in the future. Am I right in assuming I should be implementing tracking pixels and analytics from the get go?
As stated, I assume I’ll want to run Facebook tracking pixels. Is there a particular plugin or way I should be implementing them into a WP site?
Analytics. What’s the distinction between Google site kit, Google tag manager, GA4 etc. I presume I’ll need a plugin for this.
Cookies, privacy policies and notices - I don’t want pop ups but I want to be compliant where I need to. If pop ups are completely necessary is there a way to have them only pop for people visiting from areas that require it? Can I segment this to it’s own page?
PCI Compliance
Still not entirely sure what this entails - I understand it pertains to payment processing?
// Hosting
As I understand it these shouldn’t be in the scope of the web dev proposal and I’ll take responsibility for their implementation.
Any recommendations for hosts? Load speed and uptime are critical and pricing comes secondary to me.
The business is located in Australia but I would like decent access from around the globe.
Cloudflare. I’m still not entirely sure what they offer. As I understand, they run a huge part of the internet's infrastructure and offer DNS servers, DDOS protection and have vast CDN’s. Should I be using their services which I think are free? Am I subjecting people using VPN’s to constant captchas? Am I missing what other offerings they have? By virtue of using their DNS servers, am I using their CDN’s? And what value might I realise from them?
In general what conclusions should I walk away with?
WP needs to be constantly maintained but offers more flexibility?
WP if it isn’t maintained will break and have constant security issues?
WP will allow me to realise cheaper and faster website development on account of it’s frameworks, plugins and popularity within the community?
Anything I’ve missed?
Sorry for the massive post but I’m pretty new to this and just trying to cover all the bases.
Appreciate any wisdom and I’m more than willing to buy you coffee if you DM me
Thanks heaps

2024.05.21 17:20 MasterGanache2012 Scouting a Move: Cities to Visit During a Great Lakes(ish) Road Trip

Hi all, I'm looking for small to midsize cites in or near the Great Lakes region. I currently live in a small, resort beach town in southern, NJ, but I know I don't want to be near the ocean in the future.
Criteria:
* Small to midsize - I know people rave about bigger cities, but they're just too much for me. I lived in Philly for a while and enjoyed it, but I'm not interested in going back to that size of a city. Let's say a maximum around 300K population. I'm willing to bend this for something that has everything else, of course (true of basically every criterium here).
* Proximity to water - Preferably large bodies of water. Significant rivers might do, too--not sure. I like to walk and ruck on the beach or at least on river trails. I've gotten used to being right on the water, but I suppose that's not a strict requirement. I could settle for like a 30-45 drive to the beach.
* Good food - I don't mean good restaurants, though they're a plus, too. I love to cook, so I'd like to be in a place with farmer's markets and decent ethnic grocery stores.
* Live entertainment/art - I love comedy, theater, live music, museums, cool architecture, etc. It doesn't need to be a major touring site or even near one, just as long as there's a good local scene. I'll mention good bookstores and libraries here as well, but I figure that won't be a problem almost anywhere in the size range I'm talking about.
* Access to housing with a yard within range of the city center - I'm a big gardener, so I'd like to be able to eventually buy a house in this area that can have at least a small yard but be somewhat proximate to the city proper. I guess this translates to housing with good growing space within maybe a 30-minute drive, decent parking options, or, better yet, good public transportation.
* Not always cloudy - I don't need to it be warm, but I like to see the sun.
* Youngeat least somewhat diverse population - Where I currently live, nine months of the year the average age is like 60 something, so I think this will be automatic almost anywhere. I'm just looking for somewhere closer to the average of the country.
* Not too far from eastern PA/southern NJ - I've had a lot of family stuff go on in the past five years, so I expect to be needed sometimes--maybe even to facilitate another move away from southern NJ in the future. This is a lower priority, because I understand that what I'm asking for is kind of innately far from family. The closer, the better but far isn't a deal breaker is what I'm saying.
About me, if helpful:
* 28, male, single. I know people talk about smaller metros being harder to find that special someone, but I'm not super interested in dating, so that's not a problem for me.
* Stable employment, good salary, remote worker. I live pretty frugally, so I love that the Great Lakes region generally costs less. I imagine my employer might scale my pay to the region, but I don't mind if it goes down somewhat.
* Somewhat solitary in my hobbies, but I enjoy socializing and love finding and building communities. I've always been able to find a good friend or two wherever I go, and I have lots of friends across the country that I stay in close contact with. I'm not too concerned about being iced out. I know people talk about that phenomenon in some areas of the country. I expect some family will eventually follow me, and I'm very close with my family, so I'll have that at some point, too.
* Weather doesn't bother me besides lack of sunlight, which I mentioned. I've survived horribly muggy summers, pretty harsh mountain winters, and some bad storms/hurricanes. Besides, weather and particularly temperature are going to be changing/unpredictable going forward.
* I love places like State College, PA, Lancaster, PA, and Bethlehem/Allentown, PA but there's just not enough wateaccess to beaches. Maybe that gives you an idea of some city moods that I like, though.
Ideas I've already gathered and will be visiting:
Sheboygan, WI: Seems great. On the smaller end but that's fine. My only concern is that it's very far from family--maybe too far for comfort.
Green Bay, WI: My thoughts are the same as for Sheboygan, but obviously Green Bay is bigger.
Akron, OH: Seems very nice. Possibly the perfect size for me. The main downside from what I see is that I'd likely end up commuting to Cleveland for most of what I want (water, arts, etc.), so maybe I should just live in Cleveland at that point?
Cleveland: A bit bigger but not overly so. Seems to have a lot of what I like, but I know the city has a bad reputation (at least we're not Detroit!), but I'm not sure if that bad reputation is necessarily warranted (for Cleveland or Detroit).
Pittsburgh: I'm vaguely considering Pittsburgh, but I don't know if the rivers would be enough for me. I like the city a lot though.
What recommendations do you have that aren't on my list? Also, are my criteria crazy? Let me know so I can adjust my expectations/search.
Thanks!

2024.05.21 17:12 theTrueLocuro Intermittent employment

So I'm in the situation where this is the case. I've taken off the past year, working part time, 15 hweek, in a grocery store ($15.60/hr).
Now I've found an easy job that pays more ($25/hr - dominos pizza delivery driver).
I know there's many moving parts here, but how would you handle it?
I'm 40. I have relatively lots of energy. Delivery driver is a super chill job. Part of me feels I should do a top up.
Also as I said I just took a whole year at only 15 hours a week.
Maybe it's time to put some time in.
OTOH I don't really have any goals. Just a "top up". It'd be nice if I could buy more real estate but at these prices it really doesn't make sense.
Work 1 year on, 1 year off? Up to me in the end but I'm looking for ideas.
How would you do it?

2024.05.21 17:12 KiddRm General advice for moving out on low income?

19M living in Canada, here minimum wage is 15$ but most employers pay ~ 18.50$
I have to leave for my wellbeing, I am the scapegoat in my dysfunctional family. I have a working car that hopefully my Nmom will transfer ownership to me soon ( I paid for the damn thing ) My plan is to move to a city that's ~250km away to gain some distance.
If I work 8 hours a day 7 days a week I would make ~2700$ after tax (18$/h)
My high estimate for the city I'm planning to move to is ~3500$ monthly
My low estimate is ~ 2500$ monthly
I'm currently building savings as well as working towards buying some things I need to have before I move out (laptop, guitar, mini safe)
My goal is to have 10-15K saved up before I move just to make sure I have at least three months covered/ rainy day fund
Any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

This is disordered eating and potentially deadly messaging to her 139k+ followers. Please demonetize and deplatform her. Paying an influencer to promote an eating disorder for monetary gain is wrong.
Recipes Shared: 1. Applesauce Waffles (this is her 4th time using this recipe in 6 weeks) 2. Joseph's Lavash Bread Pizza
Comments: I am tired of posts from "Joe" using Kylea's account and her profile. Joe Gomez has a personal FB page. Why did he have to get permission from Kylea to get takeout? How is Joe's Whataburger helping Kylea's followers lose weight when she won't eat it?
Kylea has not disclosed the breed of Backup Birdie (BB) or that the Cavapoo breeder (for Original Birdie) turned her away. Why is she afraid to tell the truth? Why is she being secretive about the vet appt when she previously stated it would be the the day after Birdie's arrival?
Kylea does not understand quality content. BB content is boring and Reddit snarkers strongly suspect she is buying likes, shares, and followers for cheap. Do these companies match new followers interested in your specific content? Nope. They may not even use your primary language. The companies provide instant results to boost engagement (i.e. 1,000 likes in less than 5 minutes). Let that sink in for a moment...
To the cat lovers, Kylea is not sorry for her BB content. Oliver served his purpose to pull at your heartstrings and earn your $$$. I doubt you will see much of him. Otherwise, how do you explain how easily she discarded him (content wise)?
The Scale Picture: If you believe Kylea's weight (to the ounce) has not changed since July 2023 and she is healthy, I have oceanfront property in Joplin, MO for you. 🌊 💖
Her Biological Dad: Why is she planning a birthday surprise when she has made it crystal clear a parade of men were her father figure growing up? Remember, Kylea allegedly convinced a church he was terminally ill to sadfish and receive donations/funds under false pretenses. Make it make sense.
Final thoughts: Kylea Gomez is desperate for you to believe she is a good "mother," loving wife, doting daughter, and Christian woman. She is mentally ill, a modern day Pharisee, and "hers" is not highly favored. Humanizing a puppy is not a healthy coping behavior. She should seek medical care. ☮️ To her top enablers in her family and admin team: At what point are you willing to intervene? Her welfare is more important than social media income.
Takeout Purchase: Crazy Llama Blended coffee for KG: $8 est + tip; Whataburger for Joe (unknown food): $8 est;

New Orleans, USA, April 25th, 1926
So looks like the waitress in that cafe was lucky enough to get enough money from Charlotte LaBoeff to buy her restaurant. When we left the cafe, we followed her to the real estate office of the Fenner Bros. and we waited about an hour, sitting on a bench. Every second I spent on Isaac's shoulder as a frog was me sunbathing, contemplating life, and daydreaming about torturing and murdering Nonon. As Tiana ran out of the office, she beckoned us to follow us.
Tiana: Come along! I gotta show you guys!
We followed her down the street for a couple of blocks before we found the old dilapidated building she was planning to buy. Only seeing the outside of the building, the Fenner brothers came up to the realty sign and removed it.
Tiana: Everything looks peachy keen Mr. Fenner, and Mr. Fenner.
Fenner 1: We have the paperwork ready to sign first thing after Mardi Gras.
Tiana: I'll do you one better. I'll sign them tonight when I see you at the Labouff masquerade ball!
The two brothers ignored her, putting the wooden sign into their car and driving off with it. Suddenly, an older black woman appeared behind Tiana.
Tiana's mother: Table for one please!
She was holding a big sauce pot with a red ribbon on it.
Tiana: Mama!
Tiana's mother: Here's a little something to help you get started.
Tiana: Ah! Daddy's gumbo pot. Oh.
Tiana hugged her mother and she spoke again.
Tiana's mother: I know. I miss him too. Well now, hurry up and open the door.
Upon opening the door, Tiana shut the doors immediately and both her and her mother began to hyperventilate. Something was terribly wrong.
Isaac: T-Tiana is it? Is something wrong?
Suddenly, a hole was smashed through the door by a big furry arm as Tiana and her mother ran over to Isaac and his behind him, screaming!
Tiana: What the hell is that?
Isaac reached for his plasma saw and turned it on. It whirred loudly before both doors were slamme open and a dozen of those rat-humanoid monsters barged out!
Ryuko: Shit! Rat bastards! Come on Isaac, you can take them down! Tell Wiz and Boomstick who's boss!
Issac: Oh I will. I'm an exterminator too on top of being an engineer!
Nonon never seeing these monsters before put her hands on her ears and screamed "Oh my G-d" over and over again as Isaac ran into the fight with me and Buzz as frogs on his shoulder!
Isaac: Mourir monsteurs!
Isaac slashed through the horde, swinging quickly and broadly as he cut them down multiple at a time! He jumped high into the air and used his summoned swords magic to shoot two rat bastards, impaling them before clapping and blowing them along with any nearby rat bastards up!
Nonon: What are those things? Oh my G-d!
Gamagoori as a big bullfrog woke up and climbed out of Nonon's pocket.
Gamagoori: Rats! The monsters Wiz and Boomstick created to try and slow Ryuko down so she can't save Mako! Come on! We gotta fight them!
As Isaac cut them up, we saw two cheese pukers emerge from the open door, I called it out to him but saw a big mass of bricks on the roof.
Ryuko: Cheese pukers! Don't let them get close! I'm gonna take them down!
Isaac: Ryuko wait no!
I hopped off his shoulder with Buzz and we hopped onto the wall, climbed up before hopping over to the mass of bricks, me and buzz then began to push them off all at once slowly before they all fell onto the stationary cheese pukers, causing them to explode! Blood, guts, and rotten cheese slurry splattered all over the street, the sight and sent caused Tiana, Nonon and her mother to puke.
Gamagoori hopped out of Nonon's pocket and hopped over to the wall and climbed up with us.
Gamagoori: I'm gonna help! Isaac! More are coming!
More rat bastards charged at Isaac, but he began to cut them all down as they got close. The ones that tried to swipe and swing at him were easily dodge as Isaac was very fast. He dodged, dashed and even did backflips to avoid their attacks all while cutting them down with one swing of his powerful plasma blade! Emerging from the door once more was a big, muscular rat monster with crusty, disgusting fur with dead, diseased rat fetuses stuck to it. It ripped one out and threw it at Isaac, he dodged it quickly!
Isaac: Tiana duck!
Tiana, Nonon and her mother ducked as the diseased rat-humanoid corpse flew over their heads, mere inches from their scalps. Isaac then used his summoned swords magic again and threw two glowing blue swords into it before clapping and blowing it into bloody chunks! None of it's diseased biomass hit us or our human friends bellow.
Isaac: That's not all...
We heard a tapping sound, it became more rapid as Tiana, Nonon and her mother squeaked in fear and all three got rolled into a ball to protect themselves. Out of the doorway was the last rat bastard, but the most horrific looking one. It was as big as the doorway, it had six spider legs, it's body was a big mass of gray fur with two rat bastard heads and a human head wearing a crown in the middle. The human head was familiar however, with the burned scar over it's left eye and brown hair.
Ryuko: Santa told me... Those rat bastards are from a mix of rodent DNA and DNA from Z-Zuko! That's Zuko's head?
The Zuko head stared at Isaac for a moment before it's mouth opened up, revealing hideous, rotten needle-like teeth!
Zuko head: Rarrgggghhhhh!
It ran over to Isaac, trying to get one of it's disgusting heads to bite him, but he jumped around and avoided it! He whirred his plasma saw loudly before jumping behind it but before he could cut it's three heads off, the new rat bastard spun around and bit his plasma saw, holding it in place. One of it's spider legs swept Isaac's legs and he fell to the ground. It then slowly began using it's heads that bit onto the plasma saw while having it's mouths avoid the cutting blue blades press on further, as the plasma saw was pushed further to Isaac's neck, he sweated profusely!
Isaac: You! Mon-steur! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Isaac struggled with it before Tiana ran up behind it with a random wooden plank she used as a club and hit it over the human head! It let go and pulled back and turned towards Tiana, hissing at her before Isaac began to slowly overpower the two rodent heads still pushing on! The two head's teeth accidentally slipped on the blade and Isaac soon cut through their heads, killing two of them. Tiana jammed the wooden plank down the human Zuko head's throat but it bit down and bit the plank in half! Isaac's plasma saw then cut the human head off after cutting through the two other rodent heads from behind! Isaac then kicked the newly killed monster off of him high into the air before Isaac dropped his plasma saw, grabbed it by the legs and swung around with it like a track and field throwing ball before releasing it and it flew high into the sky, so high as a matter of fact that we eventually lost visual contact with it as it travelled so high.
Isaac took some deep breaths before picking up his plasma saw, turning it off and holstering it on his side.
Tiana: Are they gone?
Nonon: What were those things?
Isaac: You didn't run into them? They're the race created by Wiz and Boomstick to kidnap Mako. They're monsteurs me and Ryuko fought. If you want to travel with us, you better not be dead weight. You did nothing to help. Ryuko, Buzz and Gamagoori can't fight at their best right now because of you. So you can do your part or get out.
Nonon: Yes sir. I'll-gulp try.
Tiana: T-thank you for saving me. You are very strong and handsome!
Isaac: Ma plaisir.
Tiana: Did you fight in the great war? You are French after all.
Isaac: Great war? World War o- oh... No I didn't. What year is it again?
Tiana: 1926!
Isaac: 1926! I'm only 26. I... I was 18 in-
Tiana: 1918. Did you fight?
Isaac: Errrr... That's not important. Anyway, I'm going inside your new restaurant. I'll check for any more of those rat bastards.
Tiana: Thank you. Can you tell me when it's clear?
Isaac: Oui.
Isaac proceeded into the ruins before me, Buzz and Gamagoori hopped down a hole from the ceiling, landing on his shoulder.
Isaac: I should of known we travelled back in time in this world. We're in 1926. I wouldn't be born until 1992.
Ryuko: Dang. We're 92 years in the past. Yet again we were in the 15th century months ago.
Gamagoori: What are you talking about?
Ryuko: Me and Isaac going through these worlds, some of them are in the past, one was in 1482! This is the second historical world we've been sent into to find the next dimensional stone.
Buzz: Interuniversal and time travel I see. Your civilization is more advanced then I thought.
Ryuko: Well, it's magic really.
Buzz: Magic! Interesting. I wonder if I can use any.
Ryuko: We'll find out.
Gamagoori: I hope you guys know what you're doing. Will the dimensional stones lead us to Mako?
Ryuko: Yep! Sure will. It will lead us to Mako, we'll save her from Death Battle and we'll kill Wiz, Boomstick and their raping ringmaster.
Gamagoori: I just hope we don't get stuck in the past. I hope you know what you're doing. Also I want to be human again.
Ryuko: We'll get there eventually.
Meanwhile, in the streets of New Orleans, Prince Naveen was joining a street band playing Jazz as everyone was surrounding him, the women were especially fawning over him. His fat servant ran over to him!
Lawrence: Prince!
Naveen: Dance with me, fat man!
The prince took his servant's hand and began to dance around with him for a minute before he announced a proposal to the crowd.
Naveen: Drinks are all on me!
Everyone was cheering, but the servant grabbed the prince and pulled him closer to question him.
Lawrence: How are we going to pay for all of that? You have no money! Either you go and slip out when nobody's looking, or get a job!
Lawrence pointed over to a man behind a horse shoveling it's poop into a bucket.
Naveen: Eugh, fine Lawrence. But first, we dance!
He pulled Lawrence even closer and began to dance with him. The prince let go of Lawrence and he stumbled into the band and his head ended up inside of a tuba!
Naveen: Ha ha! You're finally in the music! Get it? Because your head is inside of a tuba? Ha ha!
Lawrence: Get me out of here!
Naveen and a member of the band pulled at Lawrence before both the prince and his servant were flung out of a tuba and up against a wall!
Lawrence: Agh! How degrading! This is... Oh hello?
Looking up, a slender figure in a black suit and black top hat appeared, he had a top hat with a skull and crossbones on it. This man looked suspicious but he greeted both of them kindly.
Dr. Facilier: Gentlemen! Enchante?
He lowered his walking stick, allowing the prince to grab on so he can be lifted up.
Dr. Facilier: A tip of the hat from Dr. Facilier! How y'all doing?
He handed the prince a purple business card.
Naveen: Tarot readings? Charms? Potions? Dreams made real?
Naveen and Facilier began to walk around a corner into an alleyway.
Dr. Facilier: I'm in the business of visiting royalty. Lawrence followed him.
Naveen: Lawrence! Lawrence! This remarkable gentleman has just read my palm.
Lawrence: Over this morning's newspaper. Sire, sire, this chap is obviously a charlatan. I suggest we move on to a-
Dr. Facilier: Don't you disrespect me little man! Don't you derogate or deride! You're in my world now. Not your world. And I got friends on the other side!
An echo was heard, saying "Friends on the other side".
Dr. Facilier: That's an echo, gentlemen. Just a little something we have here in Louisiana, a little parlor trick. Don't worry.
Dr. Facilier led the two to a door under a sign saying "Dr. Facilier's voodoo emporium", and once leading them in, him and his shadow sat them down at a table as Dr. Facilier high-fived his shadow then took a seat and continued his singing.
Dr. Facilier: Sit down at my table, put your minds at ease, if you relax it will enable me to do anything I please. I can read your future, I can change it 'round some, too, I'll look deep into your heart and soul. You have a soul too, don't you Lawrence?
Lawrence: Yes?
Dr. Facilier: Make your wildest dreams come true! I got voodoo, I got hoodoo, I got things I ain't even tried! And I got friends on the other side.
Dr. Facilier pulled out a deck of tarot cards and shuffled them before the duo as he continued to sing at them.
Dr. Facilier: The cards, the cards, the cards will tell the past, the present, and the future as well! The cards, the cards, just take three, take a little trip into your future with me!
Naveen and Lawrence picked three cards before Dr. Facilier took them and told them to the duo. He started with the prince first and continued to sing about his tarot card readings.
Dr. Facilier: Now you, young man, are from across the sea. You come from two long lines of royalty. I'm a royal myself on my mother's side. Your lifestyle's high but your funds are low. You need to marry a lil' honey whose daddy got dough! Mom and dad cut you off, huh playboy?
Naveen: Eh, sad but true.
Dr. Facilier: Now y'all gotta get hitched, but hitching ties you down. You just wanna be free, hop from place to place But freedom takes green! It's the green, it's the green, it's the green you need. And when I looked into your future it's the green that I see!
He then turned to Lawrence and read his tarot card results to him in a musical fashion.
Dr. Facilier: On you little man, I don't wanna waste much time. You been pushed around all your life, you been pushed around by your mother and your sister and your brother, and if you was married, you'd be pushed around by your wife. But in your future, the you I see is exactly the man you always wanted to be!
Dr. Facilier crossed his arms and expected the duo to shake his hands.
Dr. Facilier: Shake my hand, come on boys. Won't you shake the poor sinner's hand?
Naveen shook reluctantly as Lawrence shook with a mischievous grin on his face. Once they did that, the curtains came down and an army of singing masks began to sing as Naveen and Lawrence were suddenly bound to their chairs!
Dr. Facilier: Yes! Are you ready?
Voodoo spirits: Are you ready?
Dr. Facilier: Are you ready? Transformation central!
Voodoo spirits: Transformation central!
Dr. Facilier: Reformation central
Voodoo spirits: Reformation central!
Dr. Facilier: Transmogofication central!
Dr. Facilier then pulled out a talisman and clipped Naveen's finger with it, getting blood into it and initiating a curse with it.
Can you feel it? You're changin', you're changin', you're changin', all right! I hope you're satisfied, but if you ain't, don't blame me! You can blame my friends on the other side!
The musical number ended as Dr. Facilier danced around with the voodoo spirits!
Voodoo spirits: You got what you wanted! But you lost what you had!
Dr. Facilier then dashed forward on his knees before blowing, and everything went dark.
Back at Tiana's new restaurant, Isaac emerged from the doors, me, Gamagoori and Buzz were in his pockets as he approached Tiana.
Isaac: Good news Tiana, it's all clear!
Tiana: Oh thank you! You're my hero Isaac! Now, I just need to make some changes around here, so I may turn this into my dream. It will have to wait. I have to eventually go to the masquerade ball tonight.
Isaac: Oui.

2024.05.21 17:01 ajf000 Good German-made office chair that can be delivered to Italy

Hi germany!
TLDR: recommendations for a decent DE- (or EU-) made work-from-home office chair in the €500-750ish bracket (incl refurbished) that ships to Italy. To suit: 186cm tall, 70kg.
I moved to Italy this year, leaving behind in the US my beloved Steelcase Gesture. I'm not really willing to pay what they cost here for the same, nor €750ish for their Series 2. A refurbished Aeron Remastered at €875 seems like a lot, and not having tried one I worry that they're overhyped. A refurbished Mirra (all options, but prob v1 not v2) is more reasonable at around €600, but ... I'm in the EU now and feel like it's a good opportunity to give something different a go.
Anyways, I found some posts here about LoeffleLöffler and Dauphin, and a few other brands mentioned, but not a lot in the way of longer term testimonials. I'm leaning towards Loeffler since they can ship to Italy and don't make me set up an online appointment to discuss a configuration that doesn't even have a price. (Honestly, Dauphin, worst of both worlds -- upsell me as if I were in a show room, but I can't even test anything.)
Unfortunately, Loeffler have half a dozen different models in about the same price range without any obvious ergo/office chair differences.
Does anyone have any first-hand experience or thoughts on Loeffler or similar brands that can ship to Italy? I would prefer to buy EU-made for environmental and economic reasons, along with straight up curiosity. Any recommendations welcomed -- I work from home at a desk most of most days, and then there's gaming when I get the chance. I'm not interested in 'gaming' chairs, thanks.
Thanks for reading!

2024.05.21 17:00 Visual-Bite-7849 Voice - Pay Money to My Pain live

Have you seen the performance of Pay Money To My Pain with Taka performing Voice on Blare Fest 2020, the only time it is performed live?
If not, I don't know if you know Pay Money to My Pain, but you may buy the documentary DVD that just got out recently, titled "Sunrise to Sunset From Here to Somewhere".
Man, I never thought that it will be released after 4 years, and it is the saddest and most heart-wrenching performance that I see Taka do. Not even the Nobody's Home in Budokan 2010 can match the concentration of emotions there. Most especially that "We're not alone" belt at the end of the bridge and beyond. I cried.

2024.05.21 16:53 Busy_Emergency874 Had a toxic relationship with me M/34 her 24/F. Filled with manipulation and frustration has ended. How can a move better moving forward with relationships?

I’m at the conclusion of one of the weirdest situations I’ve been in my life. I’m 34/M she is 25/F let’s call her Unique. We met in 2022. Had a very intense thing going on for about 2 months. We never left each other side during that time. Met each other parents and all. We claimed to be exclusively sexual with each other but wasn’t in a legitimate relationship. After a while I asked to for a full blown relationship. She was apprehensive stating she’s not ready. I really felt some way about this and after went out and dealt with another woman a few days later(e.i oral.) Later, Unique finds out from finding a condom in my car. I initially tried to lie about it but within 30 minutes came clean about the about thing. I just knew it was going to be over and I would never hear from her again.
This is where I feel it gets weird. I feel horrible for what I have done but she wants to continue. But now I can’t shake this feeling of an brokenness between us. Like our little bubble has been popped. Since we were never in a relationship I felt it was it was only a matter of time she would leave. She a beautiful girl. So, one day I told her we should take a break as I couldn’t shake this dark cloud. After about two weeks, I wanted her back but it was too late. She said she just wants to be friends. I tried to convince her otherwise but ultimately respected her decision. I told her I can’t be friends with because I still have feelings for her and it wouldn’t be a true friendship but if she ever changes her mind on us being together again to reach out.
After I go my separate way crushed but accepting my fate. Crushed because I’m a man of my word and I broke our agreement and her trust. Knowing she will forever look at me differently. But then she reaches out a few weeks later and I believe it’s to work it out but instead it to “check on me.” I chat for a little bit and then explain to her the same thing I did before and to reach out if she has a change of heart. So let’s just say this went on for more than a year and a half. There would be every 1-2 months she would “reach out” saying all different things from “I miss you” “I love you” so on and so on. I would foolishly lean in only for her to pull away shortly after. One time she even blocked me for 3 months after I told how can I get over you if you keep contacting me playing this game. I’ve ignored and blocked her, she would call me from different numbers. Because I foolishly had these feelings for her I would lean in time and time again. After enough of that emotional roller coaster I started to tell her straight up leave me alone. No more “reach out if you change your mind.” It would continue until I changed my phone number only for her to reach out on email months later. I debated but reached back out to her. This time I thought ok maybe if she went that far as to email me she wants to figure something out.
This time I figure okay we can be friends get to know each other more take it slow this time. Only for me to have all of these negative feelings the entire time because we because we were hanging out again but things were massively different. After a while I realized tis wasn’t good for my mental health and told her I can’t do this blocked her and walked away. I spent the next 3 months(longest we went without speaking) getting myself together. Then one day I started to miss her and after a week or 2 I reached out to her. This time I’m thinking I’m just going to be friends. We started hanging out again. But I’m noticing I’m paying for everything and she asking me for money for things and favors. So I was going along with it a little bit because I thought maybe she feeling me out and because in most cases I genuinely wanted to look out for her. When I realized that’s not the case I told her I can no longer pay for her every time we hangout. She did not like this one bit. Mind you, I’ve always paid for everything.
She says to me it’s crazy that I don’t think a friendship with a female doesn’t consist of doing things for her and paying for her. I said not if we’re just friends. Sure occasionally I can do favor I can buy some drinks as a friend. She never once offered to pay anything not one round nothing even if invites out. One time, even gave me a hard time I ask for a ride when she still had a car. Asking to pay for your nails and stuff I feel are things you ask the man you’re romantic with. Said it seems manipulative on her part to constantly ask me someone who just a friend for all this. She said I’ll never see her because I still have feelings for her.
I admit I played my role in this dragging as long as it did(2 years.) I feel we should’ve ended when I asked for a full blown relationship and she said she wasn’t ready. My mistake not communicating then clearly that that’s what I wanted and if she not with then it’s so long. There a lot of nuance that can’t be explained here. She is now blocked on everything. I like to think differences in ages contributed to this.
What do you all think?

2024.05.21 16:45 Timely-Jury6438 Security Bank CC Review: they are the best for me

Background: was a user of SB Clasic CC for 10 yrs. Very passive user ako up until last yr. This yr narealize ko yung potential ng CC so I requested for a Platinum. It was granted agad agad, requested late Jan, got the card Feb. So now I'm an SBC Platinum user na.
Customer Service: For me their previous app was the best. This new one ang problema for me is hindi real time ang posting. Up until March nagcacrash din siya but now smooth sailing na. Malinis and madaling maintindihan ang app.
What I like most sa SBC is may customer support sila na chat in-app. 24/7 din ito. You can request to chat with a live agent. Sa many experiences ko chatting with an agent, around 15 to 20 mins na ang pinakamahabang wait time nila. And if magchat ako say late at night na, less than 5 mins may agent na kong nakakausap. Pinaka downside lang sa chat function nila bawal ka magswitch ng screen at bawal ma-idle. Sa many requests ko with an agent maayos din ang resolution.
Example 1. I requested to waive my Annual Fee. Sabi nila hindi kaya iwaive. I asked anong pwedeng gawin. They said if I spend 40k in 60 days, they can waive, and here I am. 36 days in, na-credit back na yung 4k na annual fee. Process was
Step 1. Chat sa agent abt requesting for annual fee
Step 2. Spend the amount required
Step 3. Chat again to tell the agent na nareach mo na yung amt required
Nagchat ako Sat night, nacredit back ng Tuesday.
Example 2: Since mabagal ang posting sa app, nagchat ako sa agent to know ano yung mga previous transactions ko. These transactions were international and I wanted to know the peso equivalent para mapasok ko sa budget. They saw it sa system nila and they gave the details agad. I didn't have to wait for the posting nor my statement.
Promos: Sabi ko kung hindi ko mawawaive ang annual fee susulitin ko na lang ang promos nila. So far magaganda ang offerings nila. 5k+ spend ko sa Wildflour naging 2800++ na lang. Initially 3k dapat babayaran ko for resto food, since need ko talaga bumili ng pampasalubong papuntang US, nareach ko ang 5k min spend and nasulit ko siya with their bottled and other products. Nagamit ko din siya sa Botejyu at 20% off. Lounge access is also unlimited sa NAIA then may 2 free sa international. Gamit na gamit ko yung NAIA lounge. As a frequent traveler sulit sakin ang Mastercard Travel Pass membership. This gives you the ability to buy lounge access outside of the free na 2. Meron din sila minsan na vouchers/discounte sa Laz and Shopee. So far sa promos from March to May, nakasave nako ng 8k.
Madali din silang kausap in terms of utang. Nagkaroon ng time na nabaon ako sa bills (pandemic times). I called them to ask for (I forgot their term) but basically installment nung balance ko. Of course the longer it takes you to pay, the higher the interest but that option saved me na masadlak sa utang. Initially lumulobo yung utang ko kasi close to minimum lang nababayaran ko. When I called to ask anong pwedeng gawin, they gave me this option.
This review is in comparison to my other CCs. RCBC is also a good option. May chat function sila sa FB messenger. Di lang real time ang sagot pero pwede na compared to sa pinakaolats sa lahat na Union Bank.
Disclaimer: Of course gastos responsibly. Always remember, gumastos ng naaayon sa kakayanan. Pero it's good also to make your cards work for you, maximize their promos and offerings para sulit!

2024.05.21 16:44 TeaAndCozy Nocturne Alchemy Summer is coming this Friday! 4 reviews from last year's

Here's the news we've all been waiting for: "Summer '24 Limited arrives Friday May 24th @ 8 AM Pacific"!
For those less familiar with Nocturne Alchemy, this release will include a "Resurgence" of (most of) last year's Summer 2023 scents, as well as this year's new releases, which will themselves then Resurge next year. You can find the complete list of last year's Summer 2023 scents HERE, with the caveat that the Crystalline #s won't be returning since they already came back in a Thoth's Archive, and the Musks don't Resurge either.
One of the nice things about this Resurgence thing is that you can buy decants in the first year to see how you like them, then full-size them the following year. Arae Decantery, Crypta Obscura, and Ajevie all do Nocturne Alchemy decants. And for those scents that won't Resurge (like the seasonal Musks), collections are around for long enough that there's still generally time to try decants before FSing. With only rare exceptions - looking at you, Lait! - things don't typically sell out right away, and collections stay up for several months.
I thought it might be helpful if I shared my thoughts on the Summer 2023 scents I've tried. We'd all love to hear your own thoughts on these or any other Summer 2023 perfumes, if you have any reviews to share! Drop thoughts into a comment if you feel so moved, or even put up your own review post. It's always great fun to read reviews - and really helpful for making our wishlists, especially for newer folks who weren't around or who weren't paying attention to this house last summer, so all the Resurgence scents will be new to them.

Amber Cotton Candy & Honey Bee [Fossilized Amber accord, Bastet’s Amber absolute, Labdanum, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar Chips, Cotton Candy accord, Vanilla-sugar, Whipped Orange Blossom Honey accord, Languid Amber Cordial accord (rich PC Ozymandias amber absolute), French Vanilla, Caramel and Raspberry Essence] - I don't buy NAVA's Bees because their honey doesn't work on me - their orange blossom honey is quite cloying, sickly sweet, and a bit urinous on me. This was a freebie sniffie bottle from Ajevie, which I still tried because it's always fun to try new things, and because (having experienced the orange blossom honey before) I figured I could overlook the honey to evaluate the other notes. This amber definitely has a thick, syrupy quality to it - I get almost a whiff of their limestone accord - and it's heavy on the labdanum. The pink spun-sugar cotton candy note amps the already quite sweet honey note. I also, to my surprise, actually can make out a touch of tart juicy raspbery - but not any patchouli.
Peach Vanilla Crème Tea [Peach skin, Peach pit, Ripened Peach accord, Black Tea, Bastet’s Amber absolute, Vanilla Bean Cordial, and Vanilla-Sugar] - It's peach iced tea, sweet and refreshing, much like Poesie Peach Tiara [Peach iced tea, honeysuckle, sun warmed skin, and crisp white petticoats], but without the cotton note, and with both the black tea and the peach more assertive. This peach is a bit candy-ish (possibly that sweetness is amped by the vanilla sugar), and the tea is suprisingly cinnamon-y, which pairs beautifully with the peach and makes it more a transitional scent, summer into fall, than purely a hot-weather scent for me.

And on the off-chance that the Crystalline #s do return (with NA you never know for sure...)

Crystalline #10 [Toasted Coconut, Coconut Pulp, Caramelized Sugar, Tonka, Coconut Milk, Bastet’s Musk, eNVie saphir, Crystalline (Studio Limited Originals)] - Sweetened coconut. It's simple yet gorgeous. The sugary note helps it avoid sunscreen status, and there's something really light and refreshing about this one. Longevity is not great though.
Crystalline #11 [Sandalwood Milk accord, Santalum extract, Australian Sandalwood, Sandalwood Chips in Oudh blend, Golden Indian Sandalwood, Kobalt (Studio Limited Originals) Vanilla, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Red Sandalwood and Crystalline (Studio Limited Originals)] - A woodsy-creamy sandalwood and NAVA's lovely vanilla, this one recognizably a mix of Kobalt and Crystalline. It's difficult to say which of the sandalwood or vanilla are stronger because each of them seems the star on alternate sniffs! This is woodsier, more milky, and a little less addictive to my nose than Snowy Woolly [Vanilla essence, Indian Sandalwood, French Vanilla, Coconut Husk, Bastet’s Musk absolute and White Sandalwood], but it's a reasonable alternative if you're looking for the unctuous, gorgeous simplicity of vanilla + sandalwood. A touch of smoky oud comes out in the drydown, which is a welcome addition that makes this scent just a touch more complex.

2024.05.21 16:39 FoxchildWasTaken Should we live with my father?

I have a little family: My son (14 months), my GF and Me. We are living in a rented appartment. We would like to live in a house with a garden. My father says we could live with him in his house. It's big and we could have our own floor (1st floor). But I don't like the idea because his passion in life are motorcycles. My partner hates motorcycles. The smell, the noise, the whole culture... also my father is a racist. So, I could never invite friends because either he would sit with us in the garden and make racist remarks, or hide somewhere and I'd feel bad because he thinks he isn't welcome with us. So, we were thinking about buying our own house. But we cannot afford a house that I'd be happy with. It would be too small without much of a garden. Also I would feel bad about my father again because he has to live alone thinking that we rather spend all our life saving just so that we don't have to live with him. AND I don't want to spend my life savings and pay half my income for the rest of my life for a house that doesn't make me happy. I need the money to do the things that make me happy. I know, these are first world problems, but has anyone here been in a similar situation?

2024.05.21 16:36 Lou646464 Real Estate is where the money is

This sub seems to attract all sorts but this post is for the “I inherited x, now what to do?”. This post is for mainly those people, not those of you struggling to pay bills each month.
I “inherited” about 400k by marrying my wife. I had no idea she had money, but it was a great surprise when we started to discuss finances after our engagement. For 12 years, we just sat on it, left it in a brokerage account, and added to it very little (like $10k year). We also took from it when needed (when my wife was a SAHM). But around year 12 of marriage, we crossed the 1M mark. At which point I got into buy and hold real estate, particularly the BRRR method.
I am pretty handy, can fix things, tile floors/showers, put down floors, paint, etc. Over the last 4 years, we have bought 5 houses (and sold 2) and built another and used profits/equity from each largely to put down payments on the next one. Yes even in this crazy housing market. I usually look for ones that need some remodeling, hiring contractors for stuff I can’t do and doing a lot of the other stuff myself. I have only done single family homes, the margins for multi-family can be even better.
The other day I figured up our net worth and it is now around 2.3M (our brokerage account has gone up about 200k also). So even if you aren’t handy enough to put sweat equity in, I would advocate for anyone here with some money they aren’t sure what to do with, start studying the RE market in your area. It can be very rewarding for the efforts.
There are other advantages as well: owning real property that has much less volatility than stocks, lots of tax incentives, plus the knowledge that if it all goes south, you still own something you can use.

2024.05.21 16:32 Inevitable-Extent-32 Backtesting Leveraged S&P500 investing in real and simulated markets.

Backtesting Leveraged S&P500 investing in real and simulated markets.
I've recently discovered and taken fascination with daily leveraged ETFs such as SPXL. I've read multiple times that leveraged daily investments are not good for long term due to risk, volatility decay, and high expense ratios. However, based on my backtesting and simulation analysis I want to challenge this assumption.
First image: 50 years of hypothetical leveraged S&P500 ETF investing. Here you can see that 3x leverage produces the highest return over that time period.
Of course different investment periods will provide vastly different results. Here is a list of graphs of 25 year long leveraged investments starting Jan 1st each year since 1960: https://github.com/Justintc217/portfolio/blob/masteLeverage%20Analysis/leverage%20over%2025%20years%20log.pdf
And here is my code that generated these graphs: https://github.com/Justintc217/portfolio/blob/masteLeverage%20Analysis/snp500%20long%20term%20leveraged%20results%20graphs.ipynb
Based on these results, it appears that leveraged investing pays off at the end of 25 years in most cases.
Second image: I created 10,000 virtual markets for 25 year periods. Each virtual market has an average daily gain rate. The average virtual market has an average daily gain of 0.307% which is the same as the S&P500. They also have the same standard deviation as the S&P500. The virtual markets are distributed across percentiles on the x axis and logarithmic returns after 25 years on the y-axis. Refer to the third image for tabular details.
Based on these virtual markets it appears that results are very sensitive to average daily returns. In many cases 3x leverage and even 2x leverage perform quite poorly compared to an unleveraged ETF in markets with lower, but still positive, daily average returns. However, leveraged investments may still be worth it since they have the potential for outsized returns in good markets with potentially <100x returns. Which is just crazy.
Bringing things back to reality looking at SPXL compared to SPY:
https://preview.redd.it/lqyectnbds1d1.png?width=669&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed811900414c754c4dafba8b50993cb8978265f5
Starting from November 2008 we see SPXL gives 43x returns (even while factoring decay and expenses) whereas SPY only gives 5x returns. Of course, the last 15 years has been a fairly great bull market so this may not be a good baseline for future market movements.
All that being said, here is my conclusion: 1. Daily Leveraged ETFs are quite risky 2. 2x leverage is often much more stable and profitable than 3x or 4x leverage even in light bull markets. It's only in strong bull markets where 3x leverage outperforms 2x. I would never recommend 4x leveraged investing. 3. While volatility decay is problematic we also need to recognize the amazing power of compounding returns. If market growth in the long run is fairly positive as it has been in the last 50 years, then the positives of compounding returns can certainly outweigh the cost of volatility decay. 4. YOLO. Ultimately long term leveraged investing is buying a lotto ticket. There is a reasonable chance your investment is wasted. However, if things do go well, you have the potential for an amazing cash out. And odds are much much better than the lottery, on average at least making your investment back.
I'm a 28m and my portfolio is mostly SPY ETF at the moment. I've grown tired of stock picking :P. I'm now considering investing 40% of my current portfolio into SPUU (2x leverage) and 10% into SPXL and holding for 20+ years. What are your thoughts?

2024.05.21 16:31 jm08003 I think I want to drop out of my PhD program but I don’t know if it’s the right decision

This will be a bit long, so my apologies!
Backstory:
Last year I got my Master’s degree in Environmental Science. I didn’t have a job lined up after graduating so I helped this one professor at my university with some paid research. By the end of the summer, I had committed to a PhD in Exposure Science (study of human health effects when exposed to pollutants, chemicals, etc.) with him as my advisor. I was really excited as he’s a great guy and the research I would be doing would be benefitting environmental justice communities. The research topic was the main reason I was excited for this program.
Right before graduation and accepting this research job, I learned that I have an ultra-rare genetic mutation. Up until this last week actually, my doctors had convinced me I had a rare genetic disorder that would ultimately make me lose up to four of my five senses, and have a shortened life (avg. life expectancy is mid-30s). I was hysteric over this last year. One of the larger factors why I was on the fence about getting a PhD at first was because what may have been the rest of my life would be spent doing research. Fortunately now, that is not a concern as my doctors ended up being wrong.
Because I had committed to my PhD program late, I started the program this past Spring. So, since I wasn’t in school in the Fall, I decided to embark on a solo, three-month roadtrip across the United States; visiting 37 of the 63 National Parks. I truly never was happier in my life. I was so tempted to pull out of my PhD program then and there and just work seasonal jobs across the country and continue my nomadic lifestyle. My love for the National Parks and nature here was unbeatable. I respected my advisor too much, so I did not do this.
Now:
I just finished my first semester of the PhD program. It’s been very rough. I’ve been going to numerous doctor’s appointments because of my genetic mutation, was thrown on and off of a lot of psychiatric meds, lost both my side jobs, and just felt socially isolated. I also learned that I would play such a small role in the research project I was so excited about. There are at least twenty people involved in this project and I do not even find myself necessary in it. It’s been very upsetting since this is what really sold me into this program. I expressed this to my advisor was told we would talk more about this later. I am still waiting for that conversation.
I just drove halfway across the country to see a doctor to determine more info about my rare genetic mutation. While driving home, I stopped at Mammoth Cave National Park and just remembered what it’s like to truly be happy: being submerged in nature with others just as excited as I am. Seeing the countryside too was just as therapeutic. I’m now in my head again about whether I should finish this PhD program or just drop out and be a Park Ranger.
I feel like I am not truly happy (I am not miserable) getting this degree but I am willing to sacrifice my happiness if it financially benefits me in the long run (my family is financially disadvantaged so this PhD could potentially help them out). The thing is… I don’t know if this degree will benefit me or not. I’m at such a fork in the road.
Here is my breakdown:
Pro of just staying in my program: Will hopefully make six-figures post-graduation, I will have state health benefits until I graduate, won’t have to uproot my life at the moment, will make enough money post-grad to travel, parents will be happy and more financially secure, I won’t screw my advisor over (I am his only PhD student at the moment)
Con of staying in my program: I have no idea what careers I can get (when I ask faculty in my program, they don’t really know either), I have been told by an engineering professor in my program that Exposure Science is “not a real major”, was told by a former professor that a PhD is useless unless you are inventing something (which I am not planning on doing), I can’t work another job while getting this degree so I can’t save up and buy a home since I’m living paycheck-to-paycheck, I won’t be doing the research I was so excited about
Pro of being a park ranger: I will genuinely be happy, my knowledge from my last two degrees can be applied and get me a slightly higher paying job in that field, its a career I know I will enjoy
Con of being a park ranger: Get paid dirt, not sure about health benefits, away from family
I would love to know others thoughts. I can’t talk to my family about this because I feel a lot of pressure from them about getting this degree and I know it will be biased. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

2024.05.21 16:06 Firm-Cartoonist-5730 Cash or Financing of a lease buy-out

my wife's car lease is up in October, we have cash that's earning 5% in CD's that could pay off the 18.5K car come October when the CD matures. The current rates for a "used car" is 6.74% at local credit union. contemplating paying the car off, saving a bit on insurance costs, and then making payments to myself to repay the dent in on of our emergency funds. Just to be clear this will not jeopardized our savings or hurt us significantly financially given to current rates IMO.
The upfront hit would be roughly a 1/2 of the CDs amount, so not taking it all out.
Just a wierd position to be in with rates so high and returns on investment accounts being so low.
  1. I could just take the money and keep it in a CD and earn a guaranteed 5% but pay on a loan for 4 years and pay 2800 in interest
  2. or pay the car off and earn 5% on half the amount of my CD value and pay myself back in 2-3 years, and lower our monthly output for the vehicles.
what am I missing here?... paying sales tax will cost me roughly 1150 if I buy it

2024.05.21 16:02 Micwal93 Huge 'management fees' buying a flat in London

I'm buying a flat in Hackney, London, which is a leasehold but also a share of freehold. I found out today that I have to pay 'management fees' upfront before I complete on my flat purchase in London. There's a £200 'management fee' I have to pay, plus a £240 'management agent fee'. When I asked my solicitor what they covered, she quite literally could not give me an answer, just that it's about 'signing me on' to the lease.
She also told me that I might be liable to pay the entirety of the year's service charges (£1780 a year) upfront as well, in addition to the fees I've mentioned.
Feels like I'm being duped a bit here. Especially surprised there are these fees considering my flat is a share of freehold. Although my solicitor told me that I nor any of the other leaseholders are listed as freeholders, but that we each own a 'share' of the management company. If I own a share of the management company, I'm struggling to figure out why I have to pay management fees.
Anyone else have any experience of this? Do I have any rights or power to contest these fees or negotiate them down? Feels like it's free cash for an opaque organisation.
