Few facts about Canada from an American first Canadian second duel citizen.
Quick about me: I've lived in Canada most my life 22 years, and in the U.S. 11 years. I wish that were reversed anyways on with the show. First though I've asked way too many Canadians who their head of state is. If they know what that means at all they usually say Trudeau...... It's king Charles....yea not great, in fact the second in line is the governor general, prime minister is third. Onwards.
Canadas "constitution" if it can be called that technically isn't a legal document. Québec refused to sign it's ratification and to this day hasn't. That doesn't stop Québec from collecting equalisation payments of which Alberta pays the most. I like the fact that Québec is grifting the other provinces makes me smile. They could develop their resources and quickly become the wealthiest province but why not get welfare eh? And the language thing holy cow.......nuff said.
Which brings me to Alberta the wealthiest province overshadowing Ontario per capita. The weather there is by far the worse in the provinces (and I grew up in Winnipeg). We like to put Vancouver down due to the homelessness (worst I've ever seen) however Calgary and Edmonton have metro populations of 1.5 m each and the homeless issues have ballooned in recent years. It's to the point where it can be compared to places like Nashville TN, Tampa FL, and Atlanta GA, all of which are at least double the population where as ATL is quadruple. As car dependant a city I've ever seen, akin to LA. Calgary has become a mini Toronto and Edmonton a large Winnipeg.
Moving on to good ol' Winnipeg the asshole of Canada. Potholes, poverty, pessimistic, petty, predictable, and of course proud. It's like the old adage pride go before the fall, except in this case the fall came first. Winnipeg is isolated and has a Stockholm syndrome hovering over it's people. Being the only city in Manitoba, everyone flocks there from the small towns. Way too heavy on the sports, I'd imagine it's due to how little there is to do. Per capita Manitoba as a whole is statistically on par with Chicago in murder and violent crime rates (look it up). Winnipeg itself is up there with D.C. not great. It's so poor and corrupt the roads have crumbled and no one fixes them. It took like 3 years to put up the new "tallest tower" 300 main. For reference Toronto puts them up in half the time and twice the height. The tallest building in Omaha is 50 m taller, in Tulsa it's 60 m, 50 m in Des Moines, and 70 m in New Orleans. Not that that matters. Way over priced housing for where and what it is, and anything "affordable" is in areas akin to American ghettos. Lastly transit... Nuff said. Moving on.
The maritime provinces. They're poor, really poor, but mostly poorly treated by Ottawa, if they hadn't been so long they would've thrived much like Winnipeg would have without the coast to coast CN line. I digress, of all the places in Canada the maritimes are the friendliest, pretty on par with the stereotype of nice Canadians. There's nothing bad to say about this place. Moving on...
Saskatchewan would be good if not for the fuckin RCMP giving it a bad rap. Moving on...
Before we get into the meat I'll add a quick not about the territories. STOP IGNORING THE RESERVATIONS NEEDS FOR CLEAN WATER, AND LOWER THE FUCKIN PRICES UP THERE!!!. Next.
I'll start with Ontario the dirty asshole of Canada. Ottawa, Great little city ruined by over confident politicians walking around convinced they're better that you 🫵. The amount of investment into transit in and around the GTA from Montreal to Windsor is impressive and on the level of European countries. I don't see that kind of investment in the rest of Canada. Ontario is, was, and always will be, me first.... Fuck you. They literally stifle other provinces from becoming wealthier. Look at the bombardier contract as a perfect example. Carbon taxing Manitoba who has been green since before we all knew what that was. The actions against the trucker protest and all the scandals, that's all Ontario... Americans don't know much about Canada but they do know the "crack smoking mayor". What can I say. Toronto has been ruined by too much construction and lack of proper city planning. So over priced NYC is jealous. Next.
Last on the list we have the beautiful British Columbia. Right so, it is beautiful but the people are criminally rude. Vancouver is poised to be the best city in north America in all metrics, however they choose to follow Ottawa and now look at it. As I mentioned worst homeless issue I've seen including skid row in LA. The Okanagan is a bible thumping tax haven and stash for drug money and gang revenue. Despite these things and a few more I won't mention the lower mainland is a unique and interesting place. Good luck living there holy mackerel the prices..... Anyways O' Canada stop being what you are before you either dissolve and are annexed by the USA or get invaded by a modern version of the allied powers... Freezing bank accounts.... Whoa. Even D.C. isn't that tyrannical. Taking away legal gun owners guns. Whoa, while Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg's illegal gun seizures skyrocket. No free speech, which is the backbone of any democracy.
Don't get it twisted Canada you aren't a democracy you are a dominion of the U.K. an archaic monarchy. Have fun with all that eh!! America has it's issues some starker than yours that's not lost on me, but for now in 2024 it's a better place to live, not best, better. Good day ladies and gentleman.

I’m tired.
Background info: Together for 4 years. Lil man came along in Feb. Married in April. (Marriage was planned first). Partner decides she’s having a hard time, and the support we have in our current area (my family) isn’t good enough. Wants to move 100 miles plus away to hers. Ok, fine. Let’s move away from my friends / family and the city I grew up in and where I’ve worked my see off to become good, no really good, at what I do. Speak to my boss.
Boss moves mountains and convinces manager in new part of country to create a job for me. Catch is, you start in 27 days. Happy days. Make less money and will be working a more physically challenging role, but happy days. we will make it work.
Have a new house picked out, mortgage approved. More happy days. This is gonna work out. Sale of our flat falls through. Blue skies replaced by dark rain clouds. Scramble to work out where we are going to live. Mother in law, kindly I will add, states that we can move into hers in the interim. Just turned 38, married for 6ish weeks, living with mother in law not ideal, but she’s cool (just don’t try and match her drink for drink, she will win) I’ll make it work. 3 month old kid has a lot of stuff.
Spend 3 weekends emptying work van to transport life 100 miles away. Continue working current job. Job is beginning busy season. People have lots of problems, that I need to fix. Add 1k miles to vans odometer in 2 weeks. Sleep 4 hours a night. Get a rest week the week before I start new role. Let’s get away, have the mini honey moon we didn’t take after the wedding (wait, that was only 6 weeks ago? Fuck). Get to cabin in a Forrest. Get yelled at for cooking dinner. Not sure why. Argument ensures. I’m tired. She’s tired. lil man is tire. Words are had. I cry. She cries. Young man cries.
I suppose I just need a vent. Honest to god, I don’t know how mum’s do it. I’m so very tired, and I don’t see any time in the near future where I’ll get a decent sleep again and I am ok with that. They do say that getting married / having a kid / moving house are the 3 most stressful things you will ever do in life. Why the fuck I thought it would be a good ideal to do them all in the first half of one year, I do not know.

Hang in there, this is a long one: I (50F) have been with my husband (57M) for almost 16 years, married for 12 years. He has 3 brothers and 1 sister. One of his brothers, we will call “Roy” has just went through a divorce with his 5th wife,”Sara” after being together 9 years. She is the third wife that I have known him to be married to since my husband (his brother ) and I have been together. He was married to the first two long before we met. Anyway, over the time we were married she and I became very close. Like actual sisters. We have a lot in common and we can tell each other anything. We are the same religion, love horror movies and the paranormal. We take trips together. Go to concerts and conventions. My relationship with her is always how I felt a “sister” relationship should be. I do have a sister but we barely talk and I may only see her once a year. Sara is the sister I chose. She feels the same way about me. Sara and Roy separated in September of last year. His treatment of her was abhorrent. I am not just saying that because we are so close. He’s a narcissist. He had to be the center of her world and yet he would call her a “Fuckin Liar” or a “fucking piece of shit” he would constantly accuse her of cheating and go through her phone trying to find evidence but never did. He even texted me from her phone once pretending to be her to see what I would say. I had a weird feeling when I received the text because Sara and I didn’t usually text about him when she with him due to his nosiness …the text said “what should I do” so I responded vaguely with something that I would say to either one of them. He then started texting me from his phone going off on me. I told him I didn’t say anything to her that I wouldn’t say to his face. It got to the point where everyone had issues being around him, especially if he was drinking. Here come the holidays. Thanksgiving my husband and I hosted the dinner. All of his siblings, their kids, and grandchildren were invited. On my side it was my mom, my kids and grandchildren. I didn’t invite Sara (although I would’ve rather her been there) due to the separation and pending divorce. I heard a couple of my husband’s nieces talking about seeing each other the next month for Christmas. At that time no one in the family had brought up hosting Christmas, so I volunteered. I set the Christmas dinner date for the family the Saturday before Christmas. Everyone that was there for Thanksgiving was invited. We use a group chat on messenger. every Christmas since I was a child, we would go to church at midnight on Christmas Eve then come home and open presents. When my older sister got married and moved out, we just started celebrating on Christmas Eve so she could have Christmas Day with her new family…the tradition never changed even when my husband and I started dating. I would have my kids Christmas Eve, they would go with their dad Christmas Day. A few years ago, my husband’s sister “Karen” lost her husband to cancer a few weeks before Christmas so we started inviting her to our Christmas Eve celebrations so she wouldn’t be alone. I told my husband since we are inviting Karen we should also invite Roy and Sara. We did that for a few years. Now the blow up….. Since my husband and I planned the extended family Christmas the weekend before Christmas, I told him I would like to invite Sara Christmas Eve so she, my mom and I could go to the Christmas Eve service after dinner. My husband was ok with this. He likes Sara too. I also invited Karen as we have been the past few years. My husband called Karen a few days later and she just blew up on him saying it was bullshit that we were inviting Sara and not Roy….he said Roy was invited to the extended family Christmas with everyone else. She said Christmas is for family and it’s just wrong that Sara and I were still hanging out. Roy didn’t like it either. In fact he still doesn’t. I brought up to Karen that me still hanging with Sara is no different than her being BFF’s with Roy’s first wife and she said she had nothing to do with this and she didn’t want her brother being alone on the holidays (he has four grown daughters he could spend the holidays with) so she decided to host Christmas Eve dinner also…at the same time as ours. My husband and I decided the drama was too much so we canceled the extended family Christmas dinner (not very many RSVP’d anyway). Karen and a few of Roy’s daughters even got upset with my stepson for not attending their Christmas Eve dinner. Basically wanting him to choose between his own dad and them. My husband and Roy still talk and hang out but he has not seen or spoken to Karen since then. My husband expects an apology from her before he will speak to her and she is too stubborn to do so. His sister and brother still talk about me behind my back about how they can’t believe I still hang out with and in fact if they see her in public they will not speak to her. She and I still hang out and have a trip planned together in a couple months. So, AITHA for being 50 years old and choosing to spend my time with a woman who is like a sister to me and a really good person even though she divorced my husband’s brother?

I'm sure it's mostly in jest but this article in Volume One really made me sad...as a young parent I often feel like I can't take my daughter places as a lot of EC is college students, which is great but can get rowdy for a 4 year old. I think it's wonderful that we have so many local places where kids can be kids, like the Y or the pool. I also feel like we have so many clubs and places for adults to hang out.
I just don't get the hostility here and it makes me feel like I'm not welcome here as a young mother.

Sister and mom that bullies
Hi, has anyone any experience with being abused as a child and on top of that being bullied by other family memebers? As long as I can remember my family always commented on my bodies. My mom would insist on helping me take a shower when I was 10-12 and make comments like “you have a old lady bodies”. My brother would comment on my body and say thinks that was inappropriate. As long as I can remember my family has always been to fixeded on my body and how I look. I have been gone for almost 2 month in another country and I had to come back to my mother house on Saturday. Instead of greeting me like normal, the first thing she said was “you have gained weight”. When I got up to see if there was any dinner left for me I saw that it was barely anything, when I comment on that my mom says “you don’t deserve to eat after getting that big”. It has always been comments like that. I’m either to fat, to skinny, wearing to revealing clothes, are dolling myself up to much, or I look like shit. I have recently been trying to be more aware of my thought and start healing myself. Sometimes I wonder if im just overreacting or if this is actually messed up. Have other people experience being abused by a family member and all family members being to focused about your appearance.

Wasn’t sure what to tag this… it’s a lot of real sad shit… A little background. My husband’s cousin “Chad” and his wife “Karen” got pregnant around October of last year. Chad has 2 daughters Alexis (16) and Sarah (14). Chad married Karen a few years ago. Karen is an absolute witch. She treats Alexis and Sarah like shit. She literally told Alexis that she can’t wait for her and Sarah to turn 18 and get tf out. Literally the evil step mom. I could go on. Anyways, Alexis got pregnant at 16 and the boyfriend is still around. They’re a sweet couple. Alexis’s daughter “Gracie” is now 13months But this takes place during Christmas this past year. We were at a family gathering and Baby Gracie was JUST learning to walk. Alexis leaves the room to go socialize with grandma and her mom and other cousins. That’s when Sarah starts treating Gracie like a literal toy. She is RUNNING across the floor dragging Gracie by her arms! And screaming SHES RUNNING LOOK AT HER GO. My mother in law is telling her “Sarah. She is not running you are dragging her!” Meanwhile. Chad and Karen are LAUGHING AT THIS. I was already pissed. Then Sarah gave Gracie a MASSIVE chunk of banana and Gracie started to gag really hard and then Chad is like “HA HA HA ARE YOU OKAY GRACIE!!!” Karen is laughing at this as well. Mind you THESE ARE THIS SWEET LITTLE BABY’S GRAND PARENTS. Then the great grandma comes and takes Gracie and starts JUMPING ALL OVER WITH HER. Like jostling her to the point where shaken baby syndrome was a serious concern. I was livid. I couldn’t believe the absolute magnitude of negligence that had taken place in front of me. I about got up and yelled at them. And Alexis was PISSED AF when she found out. Well. Cut to a few months later just before Easter and Chad and Karen have a miscarriage. And when I tell you, I’ve never had such horrid thoughts… I was so disgusted with myself for being happy they miscarried. Bc all I could think about was how that little boy was going to grow up in such an insane place where treating babies like toys is normal and raised by two terrible people. I have been struggling to conceive myself so I felt horrible for this. I can’t stand fan art. 99.9% of it is very low/no talent copy and paste and makes me feel sad for the person who did it. It ruins so many gaming and media subs where I believe most people are there wanting to see content and chat directly relating to the thing they like, not some overly obsessive man-child’s ‘Here is my dwawing what I drew’.
I notice the comments, and I assume the upvotes, typically come from people who tend to just encourage and be nice constantly and unconditionally, dishing out disingenuous and generic positivity, the way a busy parent would congratulate their three year old on their 14th playdough snake of the day.
The content and ideas are usually so basic and clique and often tragic level weeb too. I feel like there comes a point in growing up where sharing unremarkable creativity and imagination is just really creepy and sad. Begging internet points with it is even worse.
I’d love to see it pushed from all main subs and encouraged to be posted in a Main_fanart type of situation.
I do accept that the very occasional one or two are good. Show massive talent and vision, but I’d happily swap never seeing those for not having to see the constant cringe doodles everywhere all the time.

For background, I am currently 31, single, live alone, and have been working since I was 18. I have worked retail for about 6 years total, warehouse for 4 years, and I am now a construction designer. I have been doing this for 2.5 years now and don't feel like I'm progressing very well and more importantly, I don't enjoy the work. Most all of my jobs that I've had in the past, I've been very good at and while being a designer has a big learning curve, I constantly feel like I'm falling behind on projects, putting out mediocre work, or just not putting out work that is "good". I also notice that I don't care enough to want to put in extra effort on my time off to get better at this job. The biggest problem is that I was offered this job by a family member (after I did some amateur design work for their home) who hired me directly to the firm I work for now. So I don't really have marketable skills that I can put on a resume. I feel as if I'm starting at square 1 as if I'm 18 again and have no idea even where to start in terms of finding something that I like and making it a career. I feel as if I NEED to get out of this profession and something that suites my personality better. Every day is a drag to go into work and my anxiety just skyrockets while I work and I panic internally pretty damn often. I know I'm good at working with my hands and I'm a fast learner. I guess what I'm looking for advice on is what is a decent career to start in your early 30s that makes decent money, won't totally destroy your body, and doesn't involve a ton of travel. I'm starting to consider the military at this point, as I don't know where to go, just that I need to get out of my current job. I just don't have any skills that I can put on a resume that will immediately land me with a job that pays decently enough that I can afford my own place. I'm starting to give up on ever even owning my own home tbh. I've spoken to many family members and friends about this but nobody seems to have any answers or guidance to recommend and I don't know where to turn or look to for career guidance/advice. Hi everyone.I just adopted a kitten from a friend. She was left abandoned and the mother hasn't returned. The previous caretakers took her to the vet and says she's 7 weeks old, but we think she's more around 5 - 6 week old. She doesn't have any vaccines yet.
That being said, I think I would consider myself a first time cat owner. I have taken care of some older cats before, but not long enough to say that I could be considered a foster (more like babysitter).
This post is just going to be a mix of different questions and concerns as I have yet to speak with a vet myself.
She's still being bottle fed (or syringe fed, she tore up the bottle with her teeth lol), has a minor respiratory issue that the vet thinks will clear up on its own. Her health does appear to be improving, but the main issues I'm having is regarding her behaviour.
She clings to me whenever possible. More often than not, she'll bite, scratch, and paw at me anywhere she can; more specifically my face and ears (I have my own little stripes from where she really clawed me good).
She likes to perch herself on shoulders, and if she isn't on my shoulders, she'll climb up my arms or shirt to get them. She's sleeping on my shoulder as we speak.
Most of the time, it's not the biggest issue. It's only when I have to do something or pull her off of me is when it becomes an issue. She'll scream and try to hold on (those little claws absolutely work), and if I set her down, she'll keep trying to crawl on me and claw at me, and often bite me.
I think I know why she's doing it, but I'd like some perspective from other cat owners who have more experience with babies lol.
On another note, how would I start transitioning her towards eating more solid food? I've heard fancy feast is a good brand, but she won't eat her current formula from anything other than the syringe. She doesn't acknowledge the formula if it's on a saucer or shallow bowl.
It's overall very confusing but I'm determined to make this work. She also tends to prefer peoples hands than any toys we've gotten for her.
Any tips and advice are very much appreciated.

Hello! I’ve recently started to get more into photography and is using my very old Canon PowerShot a2500 - works great tho. I’m traveling to Japan in a few weeks and want to upgrade - nothing fancy and expensive, but I’ve been looking at the digital cameras available. It seems like older version, like the PowerShot sx730 is not available in stores like Bic Camera and Yodabashi? Does anybody know if those stores sell older models from new, or where I can buy cheaper digital camera? Not looking to buy anything used unless it comes with the box and looks brand new (it’s part of my ocd, if anybody wonders). Thank you :-)

Hello all!
I'm trying to get to a point where I'm able to do multiple pullups without the help of resistance bands. Currently I can probably do one without the bands. For the past four months I've been practicing pullups two to three days a week, where I use resistance bands (4 sets, 12 reps), I usually switch between wide grip pullups one day and standard the next. I started off having to use three bands and now am at two bands on the last set. This progress is going so slow and I can't imagine ever getting to no bands. Are there any tips to help me progress faster? Or any other things I can add into my workout routine to get better at this? Also I and 6'1 and about 209lbs for reference. I am currently cutting so probably not really gaining much muscle, but I am losing weight (which I assume should be helping).

I am in Austin for another 7 months or so. I have a 2.1 year old who is not social and has delay in speech. I wanted to know from my fellow parents where I can take my child so he can just be around kids listening to them, hearing their voices, may be that might encourage him to speak words. Difficulty we have faced is - we do not have any relativies here, we are afraid to send him to day care with several bad reviews for daycares around me. There are one or two day cares around us and with positive reviews and we have enrolled him there, but the wait list is 1 year. we tried MT playmore last week, i think my child learned a thing or two. We plan to take him there on regular basis. My questions are multi-fold.

1. do you recommend me anything to improve his speech?
2. is Thinkery 1 year membership worth it if we stay only for 7 months? Also from the google pictures of Thinkery, I observed that it is pretty packed with kids and crowded. my kid does not do well in crowded places. or do you say Thinkery is not too crowded on weekends?
3. any other recommendations on places like MT playmore or thinkery, where the kid gets to play with other kids, but still the parents can keep an eye on him from afar?
