2024.05.21 14:26 ThrowRAcircumstance Boyfriend '23M' and I '22F' are on the verge of a break-up because of harassment and a buttload of other stuff. He is willing to work it out but I am falling out of love. How do I stop losing feelings for him because of the circumstances?

Obligatory on mobile so awkward formatting and throwaway because he knows my reddit account. Long story.
I come to ask the Reddit crowd to be kind with me as I legitimately have no idea what to do. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 7 months now and are on the verge of a break-up because of several reasons.
My boyfriend is adamant he does not hold romantic feelings for her anymore and that he isn't staying because I'm the safer option (in the sense that I am avoidant and have admittedly blindsided my past situationships/ partners and could very well do the same with him). He tells me he's not settling for me and that he genuinely wants to make our relationship work because he knows he only has one shot with me and that he feels genuine for me. It is easier for the both of us to leave the relationship because both are avoidant people, but he is trying to go against his trauma and avoidant tendencies to remain with me. He just fails sometimes (checking her tiktok, etc.)
Currently, we are very open with one another and have good communication (regular relationship checks, we never get into screaming matches). He has never called me names, he takes responsibility for his actions and has accepted blame for every single event that has happened (the lying, the tiktok, ex's harassment) and has not done those since we discussed each issue. Another is that he has been improving himself and his tendencies that hurt me emotionally as well (fixing problems on his own and only informing me they exist well after the fact, not sharing emotions, etc.). I have trouble vouching for this because we had just become friends later in the previous year, but from what I can logically deduce it is true.
THE PROBLEM, finally. I am losing feelings for him because I feel underappreciated, undervalued, and I genuinely feel like I was his second option. Due to the amalgamation of the things we have faced together, I am misinterpreting the pain from those into distrust for him.
To his credit, and if you remove the harassment problem, he has been a good boyfriend to me. We used to regularly go out on dates (used to because both of us are swamped with work, so now he just invites me to future plans after we finish said work), he cooks me food and pays for my meals whenever I allow it (gifts and gestures like this make me feel like I'm a callgirl so we avoid it), bringing me to events I would enjoy (movie showings, concerts, recreational parks) for free (he pays), is physically affectionate, and accompanies me in my commute everyday to and from work regardless if we have fought each other that day, would physically go to me just to talk, spends hours past his curfew if our serious conversations have not finished, etc.
I genuinely still want to work on my trust for him, I want to gain it back and move past our problems. I want to be able to support him because I do know I would also be fucked up if I came from said experience. I don't want to leave him alone because I empathize with what he has gone through and the effects they have on him, but I don't know how to help him. More importantly, I don't know how to process my own feelings about the matter.
This is an incredibly long post and I realize the easier way would be to leave. But I want to give our relationship a fighting chance before we break up. It's not the smart choice, it's not the beneficial choice either. But it's a choice I'm still considering.
TLDR: Because of harassment and other problems, I feel unloved and underappreciated by my boyfriend and am falling out of love. How do I stop losing feelings for him because of circumstances?

2024.05.21 14:07 Bisexual_Pie_4761 Would I be getting in my brother’s future?

At a young age my siblings and I had to leave where we live in Virginia and move to North Carolina. I being the oldest F(26)Maria,M(21)Juan,M(19)Santiago, & F(17)Sofia our current ages. Do to having been diagnosed with a chronic disease at a very young age I wasn’t to moved thanks to what I was having to go through. I went through my life each day at a time not caring how it went for me. When my medical bills became to much for both my step-dad and mother. They talked to my father and agreed to not ask for child support for my younger two siblings if my father took care of my brother Juan (12) and I (16) since at the time I had started developing seizures both absent and compulsive my brother came along with me to help my father understand what was going on. We grew up together we would go visit my mother and younger siblings when we had the chance or they would come over and we’d do what we could to spend the time they were here with them. After my father got a better job with a new company we got more stable home and better income thanks to that change.
Since I graduated in 2016 but my health declined in those years I got taken under my father’s wing and sadly still am a leech to him but while my father worked hard I help with the house keeping and to welcome both my father and boyfriend to a warm meal. I made sure to keep both my father and brother feed I worried for my brother’s health. When Juan graduated high school sadly it was during the COVID pandemic 2020. He had to accept that his graduation was going to be us sitting in the vehicle while they called their name through the radio in the schools parking lot. My mother and siblings couldn’t come for the same COVID restrictions going on in the states. We spent the summer at a family vacation with our father and our siblings from NC. My father told us that he knew this was the last we would be together in a while since we were growing up and everyone would be going their way soon.
Well that summer Juan got things ready and got accepted to William & Mary College it was hard for both of my father and I but we knew it was important for his future. Just a few days ago we came back from his undergrad graduation but during the dinner after his final ceremony my mother nearly caused me a breakdown. After putting in our orders they had just dropped off our drinks. When our mother asked “what was my brother planning to do now?”
He answered “That he wanted to stay for a while there until his lease was up at which point we would go pick him up. During that time he would let loose and look into what he could but he would be staying in his old room before he left for college when he came home. While we both will go to NC to visit and spend time with them for a week. Then come back home from where he will start to look into the internship opportunities near our home”
My mother like always said We were welcome at the house during our visit but if he didn’t find an internship here he was welcome into a room at their house with my brother Santiago.” I took a sip of water but went silent and just listened to Juan’s answer Closely. My brother laughed while answering “thanks but if he couldn’t find one near he’s willing to drive an hour out if he needed too” I got up told them I needed to use the bathroom As soon as I got in the stall I broke down he’s been gone 4 years I can’t lose my brother again so soon. I can’t stop breaking down even my boyfriend nearly caught me crying silently. He comes from Mexico no family here since 7 years ago almost as soon as he got here we met. I want to sit my brother down and ask him to please try to find both a job and internship near where we live currently. Would I be asking to much of him?

2024.05.21 14:02 ThrowAway7s2 "Teacher from Columbia is Helping Spanish classes" from the October 9, 1969 Door County Advocate

Teacher from Columbia is Helping Spanish classes

If the attendance in the Sevastopol high school's Spanish class has picked up during the past six weeks, the reason may be a dazzling senorita named Esther Lozada.
Miss Lozada, 20, of Bucaramanga, Colombia, has admirably filled the role of "teacher-student" since school started in September. She is one of many volunteer aides and exchange teachers now serving in American schools on the Amity Institute's exchange program.
This educational, non-profit service is organized to bring young volunteers from other countries to stimulate the study of foreign languages in United States classrooms. These young teacher's aides are then able to improve their own knowledge of English, United States culture and education while enjoying the hospitality of their American hosts.

ESTHER LOZADA brushes up on the English language between classes at Sevastopol high school. The young native of Colombia says she enjoys our brand of football but it can't compare with the excitement of seeing a bullfight.
Miss Lozada studied English (which she speaks remarkably well) and secretarial courses at the Binational Center in her native city. At Sevastopol high school she attends as many classes as she teaches and at present is concentrating on typing, shorthand and office practice in addition to English.
She is finishing her last week of a six-week stay this Friday and from Institute will transfer to a Chicago school. She will put in another six-week stint of duty there before moving to White Bear Lake, Minn., where she plans to spend eight months with two different families. Her hostess in Institute is Mrs. Mildred Mullendore; a warm, friendly woman described by Esther as "someone I will miss very much."
She will also miss helping Sevastopol's regular Spanish teacher, Mrs. Roger Orthober with her classes. "I help students pronounce words correctly, give tests and participate in dialog with different students each day. That way I help them with Spanish—they assist me with English."
This 'give and take' method of teaching seems most effective. Miss Lozada belittles her grammar but her charming accent adds to—rather than detracts from her linguistic ability. She says English is a difficult language to learn (far harder than Spanish) but she is determined to master it perfectly before she leaves.
Her views on American life are most flattering. She finds the people exceptionally friendly, the food delicious and our wearing apparel almost identical with that worn in Colombia. Her smart, pink wool suit was made by an older sister who, Esther says, "Made my complete wardrobe before I left."
While discussing food, the subject of yuca was mentioned frequently. This is a South American staple—comparable with our potato—without which no meal is complete. Yuca (pronounced juka) is a white vegetable resembling a carrot which is served either boiled or mashed and seasoned to taste. Esther pronounces it 'deelicious' and confesses it is the one food she misses.
She loves desserts made with apples, strawberries and cherries which in her country are expensive and bought only by the well-to-do. Most recipes use pineapple, oranges and bananas—tropical fruits which are both plentiful and cheap.
The Lozada family consists of nine children—all handsome, well educated young people who are according to our attractive exchange teacher "exceptionally close."
"My father owns a wood factory and he is undisputably the head of the household. My mother is, as you say in America, just a housewife, but she is very ambitious for her children. She wanted me to go to the United States but, at first, my father objected."
Somehow these objections were overcome and Esther Lozada, chic wardrobe, Spanish-American dictionary, and all, arrived in Miami the latter part of August. From there she flew to Chicago, Madison and Green Bay where her last lap of the journey was completed by automobile.
She views her departure with mixed emotions. "I do hate leaving this beautiful place," she says wistfully, "but, my work takes me to Chicago. If things go right for me, I will be back to spend Thanksgiving with my friends here."
She would also like to come back to Sevastopol high school next year and spend an entire school year in one spot. "I have asked Mr. Carl Scholz already and he seems encouraging," she says with a heart-melting smile.
Her parting words were, "If you put this little story in your newspaper please include this expression of gratitude from me."
"Thank you very, very much. I have had a wonderful time. I especially thank Mrs. Mullendore and Mr. Scholz—two very nice people."

First month complete! 13 lb down and hopefully a lot more to go :)
Left side photos are the before. Honestly still hate how I look in these lol but hey progress is progress.
243.2 was the starting weight 229.9 this morning so 13.3 pounds down in 4 weeks. Really motivated for the next month!
I’m going to be more strict on my daily plan. I started meal prepping recently and I think that will be a big game changer for me. No more reaching for small snacks in between meals.
I’ve hit my 20k steps MOST days and I’d like to get more on top of that as well.
Lifts have been going very well though! I keep getting stronger :)
I’m really thankful to have this group. You guys rock do wanting to do this me.
I’ve also been sober for a month (minus 1 hard seltzer a week or two into it) but that’s a big deal for me! I was in a dark place & drinking almost a bottle of whiskey a day.
Thank you all so much!

2024.05.21 13:59 Stpaul81 Lasagna question

Hello, I plan on making two lagsanas for a family get together. I like to make the bolognese a night early to let them flavors all meld. Normally I only make one lasagna at a time.
My question is, if you were doing this would you just double the recipe and do it all in one pot or would you make two separate batches?
Just worried doubling in one might be too much. Would love some advice. Thanks!

2024.05.21 13:56 Ok_Librarian2279 It's my birthday and my mother made me gate it again

I just turned 18 today, in my country that means I can drink.
The issue is all of last week I said I wouldn't mind a nice dinner at home to share with family. My mother said on Saturday 'we'll go out that night for drinks'. Now I didn't mind what we did if I'm being honest as long as I enjoyed myself.
Now I would just like to mention I'm having a birthday on the 25 with my friends which my mum has been preparing for. I don't want to sound like a spoilt brat but when I got home we were told we're having a meal I don't like. I usually do the cooking as I'm the oldest and my mother's usually busy. I assumed I would be getting a break from it, I was wrong. I had to make a meal that I didn't like when there are two other adults besides my mum and my siblings which are old enough to cook and know how to.
I ranted to my friends about it because I was close to tears so they decided they would come get me and we could have a night together before having a sleep over. I asked my mum if I could go with them she got all pissy and said she was planning on having a drink with me, I had a drink with her before I left she made a comment on how I ruined her plans and was leaving her. I said the dinner I had to make despite always making it, I also said that I didn't even like what I was making.
Now I feel guilty because I basically walked out on her and now I don't know what to do. I'm writing this on the floor of my friends room.

2024.05.21 13:28 ThrowRAdingf I [24M] have been overthinking about something my girlfriend said and need second hand advice [22F]. What should I do?

Hello,
First I'd like to give you some context to better understand the situation.
Me [24M] and my [22F] girlfriend have been in a relationship for the last 1 year and a half, we don't live together, but plan on moving together in a few months. We both have jobs, she works as a pharmacist technician and I work as an informatics engineer. I make significantly more than she does and that is also why I'm always the one offering to pay for activities we do together (she'll pay for an ice cream or a meal from time to time), but it's mostly me paying for everything, this is important as you'll see in the follow up.
Last weekend we were talking and I jokingly said that I'm feeling too stressed at my current job, which I actually am (I was hoping for a little bit of emotional support), and that I'll change my career to become a McDonald's worker. She took my joke seriously and the first thing she said was "will you be able to afford a girlfriend with minimal wage McDonald's salary", with girlfriend she obviously meant her. I ignored it at the time and didn't talk to her about it yet.
Well as I returned from her place yesterday, and as I was parking in my driveway the thought of what she said the day before started creeping into my mind, and I have been thinking about it ever since. I even started remembering past events when I brought up saving my money with her and how she was very against it, because we should experience things together, and because that was at the beginning of our relationship and I was still blindly in love, I didn't think much about it at the time, but now all of those thoughts started creeping back into my mind and its killing me. I'm currently at work and can't even focus on my tasks because this is all I'm thinking about.
What would you do in this situation? What should I do?
TL/DR: My girlfriend questioned my ability to "afford" her if I switched my career to a less stressful minimum wage job .

2024.05.21 13:16 CloudOfToxiccGas Marathon training idea: ONLY LONG RUNS. Every day of the week. No whining, no excuses. Has anyone tried this?

The long run is the most important run of the week in marathon training (also let's face it, it's just tight, and makes you feel better than everyone when you do one). So I figure, why not maximize this effect by doing 20 milers literally every day, Monday through Sunday.
Look, I do CrossFit, so that alone should tell you that I'm not fucking around here. I want only the Meat and Potatoes of the training plan -- and I want to eat them for every meal.
